The last few times I have been here the criss-cut fries and fried zucchini were made fresh and were crisp and hot. The western bacon cheeseburger is one of my favorite burgers, and I wish Carl's Jr. would step-up their game and source their bacon and beef from humanely-raised and grass-fed sources. Prices have also gone down on the criss-cut fries and fried zucchini, so that was a bonus. The customer service is also great.

I never rate fast food five starts because let’s be real it’s fast food, but the staff here deserves five stars. I’m not sure if it’s management of them deciding to make a difference but they sure made a difference in my day. They are so kind and helpful and have a great joy. I wish more people where like this. Great job staff keep up the good work!

This is one of the best Carl's Jr's and even more so because it's 24 hours. When I go to Chico for work and I'm driving home 2 hours at around 2:00 a.m. and the fact that they're speedy and prompt and kind makes my trip home so much easier. Update: same as last time, still great people and service, thank you for staying open.

As a vegetarian, I am just so happy with their veggie burger! It was well made with nice lettuce and tomato and the "burger" was cooked perfectly. I'm also loving their criss cut fries and those delightful potato discs that they have for breakfast. There is a closer Carl's Jr closer to my home but the staff on the Esplanade are so friendly that I'd rather go there!

Food was fresh and hot, the staff members were very friendly. I did not have to wait in line and the food came out faster than anyother Carl's Jr that I have been to. I got my drink and washed my hands and in that short amount of time when I returned to my table my food was there.

This is literally almost one of the last true 24-hour places in all of Chico! Their food is usually good quality and their staff is nice and attentive! Carl's Jr burgers are among my top favorite burgers so overall this is one of my favorite places!

I work as a driver for GrubHub and they're always so quick to bring my customer's order out. If I tell them I'm picking up for Greg, they'll tell the back, and I can tell they prioritize the person that's standing in front of them. A+ (and they make great Western BBQ burgers)

The staff were so nice! They chatted with me at the window as well as were patient with my clumsy order when there was a long line of people... I thought I was not going improvise but thats not in the cards I suppose :P one of the staff that wears a smiley mask was particularly nice. Keep up the good work on keeping us fed 👌

The employees are so kind and knowledgeable. The restaurant is clean and the beverage area is well stocked. The food comes out at a very reasonable time and is deliciously fresh. I highly recommend this Carl's Jr.

I love Carl’s Jr.’s food and since our COVID-19 experience they are the only ones open 24 hours , and so if your hungry they become our local heroes because they’re there 24 hours to feed you and me. The gals That work there are super nice and very helpful

I've been going to Carl's Jr. for a long time, but today is the first time I actually enjoyed ordering. Usually, i feel anxious about ordering and see it as something to get over with quickly, but today, it wasn't that way. There was a very nice young lady, who I assume is new, and she was very upbeat and social. Usually I prefer not to talk more than I have to but she was very sweet and easy to talk to that I didn't mind at all. Really good experience 👐👐

We had it to go so I can't talk about that atmosphere. But the server was very helpful with us showing us how to use the app as we are seniors and sometimes those things are overwhelming. Absolute best experience every time. Tonight was unsurprisingly stellar. I had the Diablo burger, which I modified to my liking. Matthew C (cashier on receipt) and his crew working this evening, gave me the best experience and made my day. My burger was hot and fresh, thick and full of flavor. I don't end up going here all that often, but they always have consistent service and products. I usually opt to upgrade the fries to Criscut seasoned ok ones. They are a great flovorful option. The bacon used on the sandwiches is thick-cut and you get the bacon flavor added that is missing from some places that give you paper-thin slices.

This restaurant isn't usually busy the past few years that I have visited. The only issue that I have here is when they have the chile cheese fries. They don't put enough chile and cheese on them anymore. When a friend and I ordered them last my friend got plenty on hers and I barely had any. The manager refused to add any more to mine when I asked for a little more. My friend gave me some of hers.

I had a 1/3 pound jalapeno cheeseburger with Pepper Jack and American cheese. It was pretty good. The fries were hot and fresh. Way better than the E. 20th St. CJs.

Only place in Chico I know of that's stayed 24/7 the decade I've been here besides a few grocery stores and gas stations/7/11s. Good they've got the Beyond burger too for a filling veggie option. Had to order online and pick up thru for when on foot during covid times but I'm sure they'd figure something out if you didn't have a smart phone not a vehicle for the drive thru and hopefully lobbies will open up soon here not that vaccines are rolling out. More veggie options would be nice but not expected from fast food much yet.

Both my 2 burgers, and the onion rings were hot and fresh and also made correctly. My only complaints were the locks on the bathrooms(classist) and the lack of outlets. Staff was pretty friendly and competent.

This is a pretty good Carl's Jr. Food is what you would expect. I haven't really had any issues with this store at all. Drive thru is good and also inside dining is good as well. Pretty clean, friendly place. They have a great location on the Esplanade. It's your normal fast food type eating. However, personally I'm not a fan of their fries, but that's just me. :)

The food is good. Theyre really busy with Doordash orders most of the time. Primarily because they are one of only a couple of 24 hours food joints in Chico. Always remember to be polite and understanding the employees are working hard!

Great for a late night bite in the Chico area. The service in the drive through can be somewhat slow, especially during off-peak hours, but the food is always hot and tasty and the price isn't bad for the immense serving sizes on offer. An underrated gem of this place is the zucchini, in my humble opinion.

This Carl's Jr. is one of the few fast food locations open late. I came at 1:30 am and ordered a California Classic Burger Meal, fries and a large Coke with no ice. They got everything right and was made well. They even remembered the no ice in my drink which can be easy to forget. Also hooked me up with a generous amount of sauces. 👍😄

Used the drive-through to place my order. I ordered a Big Carl burger, and a Chicken Club sandwich. The big Carl isn’t as big as it used to be. Over priced for what you end up with. But I was impressed with the chicken club, very tasty and juicy with all the delicious condiments. I have been here before and will come back again because I know they have diet Dr Pepper, which not all fast food restaurants do.

I love Carl's Jr! Great food for a decent price. You get good size burgers. Carl's Jr on East and Esplanade does get my order wrong often tho (only when I add or ask for items to be removed). This isn't a issue for the western bacon cheeseburger, my favorite item, but I hate that I can't pay extra without many issues. Pay for extra bacon and I get no onion rings or no BBQ sauce. It's odd but saves me money.

This is one of the very very few places open 24 hrs (drive through.) Food is always great but service is hit or miss. More miss than hit. Although order accuracy has somewhat improved in the last six months, wait time is still often frustrating .

It's hard to positively review fast food, especially these days where a quarter pounder cheeseburger costs $7. On its own. That said, Carl's Jr. is a decent option, and this one has a 24/7 drive through, so that's pretty nice. The food is a step above burger king and McDonald's, so there's that, but it hardly justifies costing over half an hour of work (after taxes) for someone on non fast food minimum wage. I remember when the only way that was going to happen was if you got the "Six Dollar Burger". That's a third-pounder. It's also $9 now, After taxes that's the vast majority of an hour of work. All that to say, I am averse to all fast food now, but this one is a good choice if you just don't have time to cook or go to a sit down. They invented the Western Bacon Burger and they do it best. BK doesn't even have bacon in theirs anymore!

The workers are friendly, welcoming and professionally interactive. However the last 2 times I have gone our order has been received wrong. (No mayo/mustard ≈ extra mayo both times) (missing items fry 1st time, burger 2nd). I don't like being the "car" holding up the drive-thru to check the order, but I feel this is a must here. Or walk inside. Not to mention they're always out of inventory on items. I start my order with "Do you have zucchini today..."

Carl’s Jr. is that place that always sounds good but immediately after your first bite, you realize you could have $30.00 on 1,000 soft tacos from Taco Bell. Not really, but I think you get the idea. It’s decent if you need something fast after the bars, but please, don’t expect a lot. Also, the bathrooms are locked at night due to the homeless population. Don’t go here expecting to be a while...it could be detrimental to your dignity if you have an accident. Fair warning.

UPDATE 12/19: I’ve been informed there was a grease fire at this location on 12/8, and it would appear it burned them to a close. No signage indicating this nor an anticipated reopening date that I could see was posted. ——- When I drove by today at 8:15pm, the place on East Ave is dark and apparently closed. Something going on? Did we lose a branch/franchisee?

Fries were could when I got them. Not like I waited too long before getting to them cold, but like they had been there a while before going in my bag cold. The burger was good and definitely came with the requested extra BBQ sauce. Service was what you'd expect from fast food. The one person I dealt with in the drive thru window was pleasant and professional. Can't really speak to the atmosphere since I went through the drive thru, but it seemed ok from what I could tell.

The drive threw went half the way around the whole building long wait to get to the drive up window food was barely warm and as you can see was dry as all get out when the picture clearly showed on the menue it's dripy bbq sauce and this is what I paid $16 for and almost a 30 min wait in drive threw line. I am normally someone who gives a restaurant and the people working there the benefit of the doubt if I find the service or food unsatisfactory, and I will say that when I attended this location they were dealing with a massive influx of people in the drive thru. I ordered pickup on doordash, and when my order said it was ready I drove to the location and called the joint to see if they would do curbside (because of the pandemic.) I called several times and no one picked up, when someone finally did pick up they immediately hung up on me, so I was forced to go inside. When I got in, the manager looked at me like he didn't want me there. None of the employees were wearing any gloves or masks, and on top of that my food wasn't even ready , even though doordash said it was. I was forced to wait inside with tons of unmasked people for my food. Would highly recommend going out of your way to the Carl's Jr. by the mall, as the staff are much nicer and the location is way more put together and cleaner.

The food is good, but I take care.of.adults.with developmental abilities and was told I could only order two orders separately in the drive through...I needed to have 3 billed separately. I never.have had a limit.assigned, no matter where I go to eat.

I honestly fear for the sanity of these workers. Having a restaurant open 24/7, 365 is pretty horrid in itself. But the vacant gaze and glazed over appearance some of these employees have makes me question the ethical nature of being able to order a chicken star sandwich at 1:00 a.m. on Christmas day. These poor souls.

I didn't have high expectations but the burger I got I only ate 2 bites out of before I threw it away. Reminded me of the cafeteria burgers from elementary school. No fault of the cooks just using what they're given.

Last few times I've eaten at Carl's Jr. the taste of the burgers has diminished and they give me heartburn. Also the fries are less groovy, even when fresh. I'll try another time or two at different locations, but if the pattern doesn't reverse itself it'll be the end of an era for me.

One way or another l'm always disappointed by something about my order. Their sandwich preparation is sloppy. The item never "looks" like the pictures they post. For a fast food eating place they fall short of providing a decent well presented meal. I was excited when l learned that a Carl's Jr. was coming to town. I was disappointed. Perhaps it was the new inexperienced staff, I don't know. But something was always wrong with what l ordered. I'm fairly tolerant, but after the third try l figured I'll only come occasionally.

Crew members that are training need to pay attention and remember what they're being trained for. Also smiling and treating people nice might be a good start too. It's more than just "Can I take your order," by being friendly, curtious and professional is a great idea to keep customers.

10/25/2020 @ 7:12pm: Horrible costomer service! Oh and don't get me started with the manager on duty. She had a bad attitude and she denied me customer service only because I told her where was my fries and drinks, because I had ordered a combo meal. They kept saying that I didn't order a meal. At the end I was going to order my drink and fries and she said "No, I'm refusing your order." At the end i had to go to Burger King to get my fries and drinks.

Not a pleasant experience at all. I went through the drive through for the Beyond burger and they gave me real meat. They also forgot my fries. I confronted them about it and the guy had the audacity to tell me “No the edges are different, I’m 70% sure that’s the other patty” and told me I was wrong. I cannot eat meat and I know what they gave me. I drove to the other Carl’s Jr. in the area and they gave me the real Beyond Burger which looked completely different. Honestly just disappointed that they didn’t just own up to their mistake.

Most of the time the customer service is less then great. I went in one night and between a friend and I we spent almost $20..so you'd think that they would appreciate our business but as I was choking on my food (no joke) my friend asked if we could be let into the restroom since it was locked and they said no that the restroom was closed at this hour and will reopen at 7a.m. My friend asked what was there middle of the night customers supposed to do if they were dining in and not to go..the cashier/manager on duty rudely informed us that "technically" the dine in area was closed therefore they didn't have to provide the restroom and that we were actually being done a favor by her letting us sit down to eat and not take it to go. Mind you ALL doors were open and unlocked so customers could freely walk in from any direction and that there were no visible signs or notices stating that the dining area was closed or reopens at certain times..i felt (after i stopped choking which btw no one offered any assistance) the customer service was the worst I've ever encountered and trust me when i say I've had some horrible ones... but nothing like this. The cleanliness of the whole restaurants was mediocre and the wait time was too long especially considering they didn't even get the order right. And all this after paying the prices we paid... never ever again.

Food was extremely greasy. Messed up my order. The employes behind the counter looked like they just rolled outta bed. Lots of homeless people hanging around the building. I even saw a fight between a couple. Terrible experience I left as soon as I could after throwing it all away.

They asked us three times what we ordered at the window. by the time they got it all together I asked for a few side sauces. They said they were out of ranch when we watched the girl pace around and look lost, I'm sure they had some somewhere.... Get home, unpack everything.... I take a bite of an onion ring that I'm not even kidding you was at least three hours old. It hadn't even been put back into the fryer to rewarm it. I know it's just a fast food chain.... But I won't ever pick there again for late night eats.

We went in on our lunch, around 11:30pm, we work at the hospital and have 30 minutes to get our meal and clock back in. While the service people were nice, it was clear they weren't happy to be working late. We could hear them complaining that they were upset that it had gotten busy so now they can't go home early. They left the cheese off my co-worker's sandwich after she paid extra for cheese, and this is my chocolate shake no whip. Without a single drink taken from it. It's not like we had time to wait around for them to remake the order either, our lunch was over. No compensation was offered when we brought up our issues. Make of this what you will but I won't be going back.

Over 2 visits inside, many months apart, these are my observations: The staff were friendly and attentive. The facilities were filthy. The carpets were matted, stained, & covered with crumbs. The napkin holders were sticky. I walked to 3 different tables to grab a napkin, they were all dirty - tables, napkin holders, seats, & dividers between booths. The food was good. The bathrooms seemed to be freshly wiped down, but there was 'muck' in all corners and the floor needed deep cleaning. Chico, CA has many restaurants & fast food, I can't imagine giving this place a third chance.

I have heard this store had excellent food coming out of it but on my visit I ordered a order of cristcut fries they came out nasty and soggy no crunch to any in the box... The sandwiches I asked the lady at the window if my order has bacon on it she said I hope it does... I followed up saying the order should be right.... The stuff working during day shift reminded me of the walking dead showing no emotion walking around brain dead just no joy for having a job when others in California are struggling to keep theirs... The owner I take it is ok to hire sub par incompetent wait staff who do careless to give excellent customer service... The food was sloppy never looks like the burgers in pictures.... To bad but I am sure the store or the staff care about putting out food that should be precise cause the prices you pay for the burgers are extremely high. I love carl's jr just hate this store due to walking dead uncaring sloppy food making incompetent wait staff

I ran into a problem with a manager her name was orphea. My problem is she is extremely rude to women and very inappropriate with men how I know is I heard her conversation while waiting for food and it was inappropriate talking about Penis no condom liquor and Hell's Angels and getting in a fist fight with a co worker. I am a customer and feel very uncomfortable coming into your restaurant hearing this from a manager . I feel you should correct this issue as if it made me uncomfortable I know it makes others uncomfortable as well. I sent this to corporate as well because I feel like they need to know what is going on in your store.

The service was awful. I ordered 2 western with 2 fries and a kids cheese burger meal. They stuffed it all in one bag! It was impossible to check my order! They handed me an empty kids meal bag.m! I told them that this was not fair. I asked for another bags and sat there in drive thru having to sort out the order myself while they closed the window on me. Not a pleasant experience at all. Fries were dumped everywhere and burgers were smashed.

The food was horrible and way overpriced. I paid $20 for 2 burgers and they weren't even edible. I took one bite and threw the rest in the trash. I will never eat there again. It was a total waste of money. I would have rather eaten at the gas station across the street.

Roughly around 10pm I talked to a manager by the name of Dale the food was horrible I sat in line for 5 mins enough time for food to be fresh the fries were cold the zucchini was half cooked the chicken was cold and the burger must of been staged for a while nasty horrible service.

Carl's. Jr. has become one of the worst Fast Food Restaurants on this planet. Their Burger Meat, texture, thickness, taste is that of the 'Sponge Family'. Their Drive Up Window Clerks are rude. I ordered from Carl's Jr. A Guacamole Burger, # 8. Last night. After the first bite, I took the burger apart, shredded the so-called Angus Steak Burger and put it atop a rest spot for a large housecat whom smelled it, flipped his tail, and walked away. And this is an Alley Cat too. What does this say about Carl's Jr. Food?

Definitely do not recommend. Restroom was unsanitary just like the interior of the restaurant. I couldn't even finish eating my food here because I was disgusted with filth. Quality of the food was pretty poor to.

I've had way, WAY too many negative experiences here to warrant ever spending another dime at this location. Much as my housemates may love your food, I'll be doing everything in my power to ensure nobody in my household eats at this location ever again. After the 25 minute drive back and being told I didn't order 3 burgers, I bought my sister a replacement at the Jack across the street rather than giving this store another few bucks. 0/10 do not recommend unless you like not getting the food you pay for.

The service I received from the staff was beyond amazing. They clearly saw I was gonna pee my pants and gave me the passcode. Then I overheard their boss chastise them for doing that before I ordered. Now, I was going to order, and never had this issue of going before ordering. When I tried to talk to the boss, she kept cutting me off, and it was like talking to a wall. Since she said the worker was already in trouble and was not very hospitable, I just told her “well if they are already in trouble and you’re being this way, i guess i DONT need to order” and walked out. Do not work here, don’t eat here, the boss is unreasonable and is going to chase away any great employees.

I ordered in the drive thru. Ate then went inside to use the restrooms. The same person who served me told me I had to be a paying customer. I have door dashed out of this restaurant for 5 years and the manager knows my whole family. My son was in pumpkin head this year. But I'm to much of a bum to use the restrooms.

If you can get them fresh, they are great.. however if you don't ask to get them fresh you usually won't.. lately I've been asking for them to be fresh only to get home to a luke warm and partially stale breakfast sandwich. (I live 5 minutes away.. they should still be plenty hot by the time I get home. Also, now you have to specifically ask for the 2 for $2.50 breakfast sandwich deal.. otherwise they will charge you full price (over $5 per) O asked about this and the reason I got was "you have to ask for the deal now, we were selling too many any running out" What??? But, I'll still keep coming here.. in the hopes I might get a fresh one or two again.. because when fresh those breakfast biscuits are fantastic.. but when they are old.. not so much and they do not reheat well..

Without exaggeration, this place has about a 50% accuracy rate with my orders, and I'm not one of those people who order with a laundry list of special requests. It shouldn't be this hard to get an order right. My one negative review is unlikely to cause so much as a ripple, but if you're a very picky eater and you need an order to be perfect in order to maintain your high blood pressure, avoid this place.

Chose to take my family to Carl's jr since we were in chico, being a diabetic i had to use the restroom so it would definitely work out. Hahaha. My 2 little children and wife and I went to the counter, I gave my wife money and asked for her to get me anything, I was just hungry. I asked the manager to use the restroom and she told me I had to wait for my food to be paid for. WE LEFT! Dave an employee insisted it is all of the Carl's jr policy due to needles and drug use in the bathrooms. Policy! Soooo, the Carl's jr down the road, their door do not lock. Do not go to this Carl's jr! Garbage!

Never eating here again! Wife ordered an impossible burger and received ACTUAL meat -- yes, we know the difference and she didn't eat. Lucky for her, because I ate MY burger and got the most sick I EVER HAVE from a fast food place. This place needs to be sterilized!

Service can be good or really bad. Really got a western with no patty in the burger .

If you decide to try and place two orders in the drive thru be prepared to waste your time and gas having to do a full loop for them to then finally take your order at the menu. The main manager seems to get off on it or something but glad I could waste my time doing that at 6am in an empty drive thru. Imagine being told that in a busy one. The fact I had to do this instead of getting my orders taken like any other drive thru amazes me. On top of that I found an entire stem shoved in my burger the combo was not worth the price. This is the one time I actually wanted to speak to a manager but she’s ducking my calls insane behavior.

Ordered via the app. Crew seemed confused with orders in both the store and the drive thru. Checked in at the counter, told to wait for some items. I waited over 30 minutes to realize most of my order was waiting on the counter the whole time. I asked for a refund and was told to get one via the app. No other offer to make it right was given. Walked out. Drove to 20th St, ordered via the drive thru, and back on the road within 15 of walking out of the Esplanade. Will be fighting with the app and/or contesting the charge on my credit card.

No more beyond burger for my vegetarian girlfriend 🤷‍♂️ we only came here cause she loved those. The other stuff is OKish. But why is it so hard to stock ONE more frozen ingredient that makes it so an entire demographic of people can actually eat at their restaurant?

The girl there last night messed up my 17$ meal by giving me a chicken sandwich instead. After driving 10 min home and driving 10min back late at night. She refused to give me any sort of compensation for the mess up and even threw away the chicken sandwich. Said it was "policy". Policy to have bad customer service I guess. I've now sworn off Carl's Jr because of this rude woman who worked 930 on Sunday... I didn't expect much.. maybe a " sorry for that" or "you want this chicken sando?" Or something... They should not be paying these people twenty bucks an hour if they do not have any care for the customers.

Door dashed food from here and I work at the other store so I know how it's supposed to be packaged. Food came crushed. Bag was not sealed with a sticker nor did I have my receipt. Didn't get sauce, napkins or utensils even when requested and chicken didn't even temp so could have gotten food poisoning when food didn't temp. Eat at east 20th if you want safe food because clearly this store needs more direction

It was late about 2am when I went to get food because I couldn’t sleep. I’ve almost always had an issue getting food at this carls. I’ve gone when they are supposed to be open but closed for a system update at 3am. I’ve absolutely reached my limit on being dissatisfied by mistakes. I ordered a double western combo without BBQ sauce because I absolutely hate it. I get home and normally I can smell the BBQ sauce but I find they put the sauce on the burger and then tried to wipe it off. I called the manager to explain how this wasn’t okay for her to tell me she didn’t hear me ask for no BBQ sauce. I really hope you aren’t paying these people more than minimum wage. It shouldn’t be this hard. The part that kills me is they tried to wipe it off. So I get home with $40 worth of food to find out what I got for me I couldn’t eat. Melisa the manager wasn’t very helpful on the phone. Told me she didn’t hear me say that. Did not offer any solution. Mistakes are understandable but these are decisions. I would have been fine waiting for them to remake it there. Now I’m never going back to this place.

This use to be the only fast food place I would go to in town but not anymore. The sandwhich they gave me had rotten lettuce. So disgusting. Never again will I go back there.
