Great food. Home style cooking.
I came in today from out of state and was greeted by a gentleman whos name ended up being Julian (the manager) and from there had the most pleasant experience. It was a busy Sunday morning and all that aside another server who's name read Ariel came from behind the counter to refill my drink. She was extremely helpful and just overall a great person to talk to. I've read some crazy things online about this specific restaurant, but was extremely pleased to be wrong ! Everytime we come into town we WILL be back to this location !
Norma's Cafe is a beloved local diner offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Known for its classic American comfort food, the menu features hearty breakfast options, delicious burgers, and classic diner staples like meatloaf and chicken-fried steak. The portions are generous, and the food is consistently flavorful, making it a perfect spot for a satisfying meal at any time of day. The service is friendly and efficient, and the cozy, casual environment makes it an ideal place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.
It feels homeie and all the food tastes fresh. Nothing tastes frozen and the service is not only friendly, but entertaining. If you’re looking for a warm meal and cozy atmosphere this is the place to be. I recommend the peach cobbler if they have it.
Very good breakfast. Plenty foid at decent price. Good manager. It was very busy at the restaurant was staffed with plenty of waiters/waitresses and cooks. We did not have to wait to get in and there were plenty of seats to meet the many customers. No waiting line. Friendly efficient staff. Thank you
This particular diner has all of the classic American diner vibes. It’s a bustling environment with Christmas music in the air, all races of Americans, and amazing customer service where you may be called “darling” at the end of a sentence. The people that work here appear to love their jobs, there are many customers that seem to be repeat customers as many servers know them by name. I had a chicken fried steak with 3 sides. A large meal and the price was fantastic. What a Vibe, what meal and what great people. All 5 starts.
I had the pleasure of eating here during my visit to Dallas for the first time. This place is pretty cool. The food is delicious and the servers are really nice. The tables could be a little bigger And the fried Chicken could have been a big crispier. But these are small critiques and the restaurant is definitely worth eating at.
Stopped in at Norma’s for breakfast and walked out impressed. The food was incredible, the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, and the staff made the whole experience even better. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Service was fast, the prices were low, and everything tasted fresh. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast
Fried Pickles were salty but the ranch was divine. Rhubarb and strawberry 🍓 pie was tart. Brown gravy get it! Side dishes were excellent recommend mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and green beans. Chicken fried chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. Service and tea was excellent! It’s one of the rare pie shops that still use a meringue on the top.
Norma's! Just want to say thank you for not using heavily processed foods and for not using soy oils!!! You are one of the few places here in Dallas that I can take my three year old daughter too!! I have had most of your dishes there and I always enjoy the warmth feel!! Also, I do a lot of ordering online and the delivery never disappoints!!! Thank you again for always staying true and budget friendly!
Fantastic service by Liz and De-frickin-licious food!! One of my Best foodie friends and I came to get a bite and were not disappointed!! We got a the awesome hand battered onion rings to start, shared a mushroom burger and yummy tots and, by recommendation of the very kind Lisa, we shared a piece of coconut cream pie. Boy was that a creamy and perfectly flavored coconut pie! Liz and Lisa were so helpful, patient and very cool. Def recommend this whole place!
Are you hungry? Then stop scrolling. There’s a reason Norma’s Cafe has been open since 1956. We just moved to Dallas and this was our first time coming here. The food was amazingly delicious and the service was exceptional. If you’re from the NE, this location gives off a diner vibe in all the good ways. We will be coming back. Also, thank you Regina for your hospitality and great service!
Driving through Dallas and stumbled upon Norma's cafe. Very clean restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive he had a lot of tables going, but he got them all. Our order was correct and the food was excellent. The biscuits and gravy with grits are the bomb. The chicken fried steak was very delicious onions rings right on point. Lemon pie with the meringue is excellent. Stop by and grab some good food.
Nice little hometown feel all day breakfast diner with homemade food, and a lot of options to choose from for foods to eat. I ended up getting the homemade biscuits with [sausage] gravy (There are a lot of gravy choices here so that’s important haha). The biscuits were melt in your mouth and buttery, and the gravy was well-seasoned. My friend got the meatloaf with fried okra, and mashed potatoes with [brown] gravy. The meatloaf with red tomato sauce with peppers over it was really tender, moist and delicious and the gravy on the mashed potatoes had a really good flavor. The interior could use some updating, but that’s par for the course for a hometown diner, and it’s clear from the patronage and the parking lot that this place is well-loved.
Service was prompt! My order had came out different from what I ordered, but was replaced relatively quick. I love the country breakfast with the chicken fried chicken, hashbrowns, over easy eggs and a homemade biscuit. My husband enjoyed his burger with onion rings. Ended with a big slice of chocolate pie.

Food is so good here. If you want comfort food and great service come here. The chicken fried steak was great as usual and our server was Crystal she was very attentive and friendly.
Super cute diner vibes. Ordered to go and was ready on time. Super delicious breakfast. Can't wait to come back
Food was amazing! atmosphere was fun and friendly! The best part of the experience was our sweet server Gizmo! This is 100% our new breakfast go to spot when we are in Dallas!

Great family style cafe. Food was great, but I wish I had room for a piece of pie, they all looked delicious.

Had the meatloaf with 3 sides. The meatloaf itself is good (maybe missing a little salt). The sides tho need some work. They taste like they come from cans or pre-made boxes. The server was good and the atmosphere has a good vibe.
Several years customer of this decades old cafe. Norma's is a very friendly, comfortable, reliable, neighborhood gem. Admittedly, I am a fan of their Mile High Pie. Norma's has helped justify my evil indulgence over the years by reducing salt (hey, you can add your own) and fats in main course dishes. Thanks Norma's, for caring about us.
Went on a Sunday around 1pm - party of 3 ordered a short stack with bacon, fried mushrooms , fried pickles , chicken fried chicken with Mac , fries , mashed potatoes, chicken fried steak with green beans , okra , and broccoli. They also serve a bread basket prior to the food . Total was $56 . The fried pickles were too salty , Mac and cheese was delicious, chicken fried steak was tough . The bread basket was delicious you can tell it’s from scratch . The green beans didn’t taste good at all . The broccoli was good but needed salt. Server and bus boy were super sweet. They were very busy but very efficient.
I was a bit disappointed in the food because I believe some of it needed more salt, like the pinto beans. My Rise & Shine burger was fine, but it wasn’t special. The best things were the rolls and cornbread muffins. You can taste that the rolls were homemade, and I liked the diner atmosphere as well. The waitstaff was also courtesy and friendly.
It's a nostalgia thing. Food is not amazing, it's just simple, standard, but something about eating at a dinner draws us back to this place every time. Decent prices, great staff, speedy service. We do love going to Norma's and many others do too because on weekends it's always packed with long waits.
Food was good & portions were large. Our only complaint was the coconut cream pie was mostly merengue. The coconut layer wasn't even as deep as the crust. It cost $18.99 & I have to say, it was definitely*not* worth it. I posted a couple of pics. The chicken fried steak was good but not appropriate for those with dentures. The chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, dressing, corn, cream gravy, fried pickles, & CBGB were really good.

I ordered here twice & the first time I ordered here was last week. I got the chicken fried steak meal and when I received it through door dash, the chicken fried steak itself, was extremely tough & the outer crust was hard… you can tell that it wasn’t fresh at all but the sides (black eyed peas, Mac & cheese, cabbage) were decent. Yesterday, I ordered the pot roast meal and it was horrible as well as that bland chocolate pie. I was highly upset because both times, I called up there to nicely ask if I could have it made fresh since the chicken fried steak from last week wasn’t. I won’t be ordering from here anymore because the hype from the reviews weren’t legit. I can say their prices are fairly decent but that’s pretty much it.

I walked in and wasnt greeted. 2 ladies at the register just looked up and then talked to eachother and didnt acknowledge me. I waited over 5 min and then I asked for help in which I still wasnt greeted with a hello, all the guy said was give me a minute. Great food.
It’s absolutely sad how much this restaurant has gone down. Food consistently comes out cold and offered to be reheated. Which reheating is a bad idea considering the food isn’t freshly made. We’ve come to the understanding that Normas may just be good for a cup of coffee, tea, bread and a slice of pie. That’s about it. My grandparents and parents refuse to go. After today, we will not be going again. There with a whole argument between the staff and three of their customers, our food was delayed because of delayed DoorDash Uber eats orders. It put a huge strain on my family, considering we had already been there for an hour (snacking on bread). Definitely Not ideal for families with toddlers. We spoke with our waitress and left. Manager didn’t care to speak with us.
