Excellent com tam, with a choice of up to ten different types of meat to accompany! My favourite is the grilled pork and shrimp cakes. It's even good for takeaway, nicely packed and ready to eat. The restaurant has a homely vibe and friendly service. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Little Saigon!

I had broken rice/vermicelli with 10 dishes. The grilled pork, julienne pork, and steamed eggcake were tasty (7/10), while the rest were just average. The prices were reasonable, service was quick, and the restaurant was clean.

Service was fast, friendly, and food was delicious!! Portions were large and affordable. Lunch time wasn’t busy at all and we were one of the few tables there.

Yo!!!!! Can I just say this place have the best com tam I ever had in my entire life until now!!! Their enormous portions was too great for the price and their nuoc mam compliments the rice so so well. They even give you not those ordinary soup but the soup bone that mama or gma cooks back home. I’ve been to their other location, but this one was better when it comes to service and food. My apologies that I forgot my server name but he was the chubby one(I’m not discriminating, I’m chubby myself) was amazing!!! Hands down he was the best Vietnamese server I’d met. Until next time!! Hands down my go-to place for com tam. This place gives you a lot of food for the money and it is always tasty and quick! Years later, I still come back for the same reasons.

I got plate #8, and every last bit of it was excellent. From the soup to the last bit of sweet fish sauce drenched rice, I loved it all. Their signature dishes are #7 and 8, and be aware that they'll easily feed 2 people for $12, which is a great deal for the quality of food. I highly recommend this place and I'm definitely coming back. Note: the service could be better, but if you're familiar with the restaurants in Little Saigon it's par for course and didn't bother me.

Trust me, a member of my party didn't believe one of the employees that the dishes are large so he ordered it anyways and finally believed him LOL Before your food arrive, they serve broth/ soup while waiting. You want authentic Vietnamese food? Stop by here. I actually dined twice on my last trip to Cali because it was that good. In the picture, it came with fried egg roll, nem neon (ham), cha, bi, pickled carrots and daikon, and shrimp (..?)

Good place for broken rice. Authentic food with an authentic vibe. Most of the servers don't speak English so watch out for that! I've been going here for years though, and have never been disappointed with the food. If you're a first timer, I recommend getting the broken rice with charboiled pork and shrimp paste in crispy tofu skin!

Food was ok. If you crave com tam and don't want to wait for a table, this is the place. Not crowded but they close early if there is no one. Typical Vietnamese service and restaurant, they take your order and bring it out quickly. That's it. Don't expect high quality service. Cash only.

Ordered the food and got it super quick. I got a plate with four different things with it and split it with my mom. The portions are super generous and we barely finished a plate with two people. And it only came out to be $11!!!

Friday 9/29/23. Dinner at Com Tam Thuan Kieu in Garden Grove with my sister. Enjoying a satisfying dinner of Vietnamese broken rice, grilled meats, and Che (Vietnamese deserts) The foods were good and reasonably priced. The service staffs were nice and attentive. The appetizers were ok-ish. We had “nem nuong cuon” and “chao tom cuon”. They basically were the same as what you got from the “com tam”, but wrapped in a rice paper. The sauce tasted generic. For main dishes, we had “bun cha Ha Noi” and “10 item com tam”. Bun cha was not 100% authentic, but it was still very delicious. The sauce was a bit salty for me. It had a good portion of herbs. Com tam was decent. Every item was big, enough for 2 people to try everything. However, there wasn’t anything special about them. Most items tasted good, but ~7/10 at best. Overall, it’s hard to beat the price to portion ratio here. I suggest you skip the appetizers if you think about going big for the main dish.

The portion size was also really big so he had food coma afterwards. We recently stopped by on a Friday afternoon and ordered banh hoi 10 mon ($30.44) to-go and drove 1 hour home before we got to eat it. The food was surprisingly still warm enough to eat but the egg roll was soggy. The banh hoi cost $10 more which was not worth it since it didn't taste super fresh or hand-made. My husband said the portion size was smaller too. They didn't give enough nuoc mam so we added our own. However, they did give a good amount of veggies though. The meat, fish, & shrimp were good but my favorite was the egg cake. The eggroll and Nem Nuong log were just okay. Lesson Learned: Only dine in at this restaurant.

Seems as though there is new management. Our orders were wrong and had to be sent back, food was barely warm. The choices are interesting, the broken rice is good, the sliced pork and the egg omelets were tasty.

A lot of food for $23. Enough for two.

This place is decent. Two people could have just ordered 1 plate of 10 items for $20 and it would have been plenty to keep us full. The food or soup didn't come out hot like I would have hoped. I did ask the waiter if one person can finish one order and I was told yes. I can barely finish half. Don't mind paying for it but hate to waste it. Took it to go but can't eat it 2nd time.

Update: the place is now very dirty to the point where there was visible dust and spider webs on our table. Granted, the table was in the corner of the restaurant, however I believe that all the tables should be cleaned everyday regardless if a customer sat there or not. The food is also not made to order anymore, after we order our plates we were given them within the next minute and of course it was not fresh whatsoever.

"Com Tam Thuan Kieu" is like a brand name for Vietnamese restaurant at least to our family. Back in the country in the 80's my old house was across the street of one...so..anyway every time we came to California for Disneyland we tried to take any chance to eat at this restaurant...today we got that chance...and here's my review. The food was awesome. It's worth the money you paid for. However the service is terrible...We came in and sit down and the old man will pass out the menus as in throwing on the table in your face style. We didn't even have a full 3 minutes to read it he came back and asked "order yet?" We politely asked for more time...another 2 mins he came back "order now?" I would just picked whatever..its like he wanted us in and out quick...and then I noticed he did the same thing with another family... whatever problem with this guy, it would push customer like us away...I dont need a server to act nice and serve with a smile but this guy manner it's just not worth it even the food is great...we definitely will not come back...there are other Com Tam Thuan Kieu in this area. Update July 2019: we were in the area and decided to stop by again. We were sort of joking that we missed the old man rudeness and liked to see what he would pull this year. Well he wasn't there this time. (Sadface). The food was above ok. They might have up the price a bit. Quality is ok. Service is ok this time. I wish they clean up their restroom a bit. It's super dirty!

The food was fine, but customer service wasn't good. Me and my family came at 9 am on Wednesday. It wasn't busy. Tables were unoccupied and and it seemed like we were the first customers of the day. The waiter sat from a distance and only came when we waved at him. Because it was early, my mom wondered if we had to wait a bit for the food. She asked the waiter politely, but he answered as if it was an annoying question. He said it depended on what the order was. Since the reviews said the serving portions were big, I ordered 2 plates of broken rice for 3 people. He replied, "So only two?". We spoke Vietnamese so I understood his attitude. After getting the menu brochures back, he threw them at another table rudely. The food was ready in a few minutes. Overall, it wasn't bad, but wasn't very good either. Quality was just average. The "chạo tôm", egg cake shrimp sausage, tasted more like shrimp/fish balls. That morning was my first visit there, but I don't think we will come again.

Broken rice 10 items and other dishes are so delicious, we really like foods at this restaurant. However, the elderly employee was so rude. He was angry when I asked polity some informations about the menu. I don't know he is the owner or employee at this place but we pay for our meal so don't pretend like our boss. Another problem was they denied to give the receipt to us when we requested. Thank you for bad experienced !!!

Our to-go bill was $12.23 but we got charged an extra $1 for using our visa card. Unless the place stated to accept cash payment only, we should not have been up charged like that without any prior statement or warning. My hushand who pickup the food was not offered to add something else into the bill to match their minimum card-using amount, instead they charged him an extra dollar on top of only $12.23. Even to pay for their merchant service fee, 2-4% of $12.23 isn't supposed to be $1!

I came in and ordered several dishes. I waited at least 20 minutes, with several other customers coming in later and getting their dishes first. I asked a waiter about my order and they ignored me. I finally went to the register and they gave the receipt to my order while I’ve only gotten my appetizer. Ridiculous service. One of the most ridiculous services I’ve ever encountered in my entire god damn life. I paid for my appetizer and got the hell out of there. If you come here, prepare to not receive any service.

Food is ok, tau hu ky was fake by powder not shrimp. I don't like CASH ONLY business. I was told under $20 No Card accepted but didn't see any sign around. Also, they verbal charged me the sale tax by rounding up even number but didn't give me the receipt. Never come back to this such place. I will support decent businesses that accept cards. The one that i recent visited is more quality of food and larger portion for the money, at Mc Fadden and Brokhusrt behide the Chase bank.

This place used to be my go to but the quality has dropped over time. I ordered a pretty big to go order for my family and collectively we all agreed the food was tasted stale like it had freezer burn or just left in the freezer for a while. Very disappointed.
