Favorite coffee shop in SB & Goleta so far. Their cold brew is the best in town. When I ordered the pour over it wasn’t as strong in flavor as I would have liked, but that’s pour over. The staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is lovely.
Great single origin pour overs, a little slow / crowded in peak hours but all good and very cute merch
This place saved my life no joke!! Best spot for waking up in the morning after IV ;) and needing a break after the chaos of the previous night. A bright aroma of coffee awakened our senses the moment we stepped foot into this beautiful coffee paradise. The interior is absolutely gorgeous - the geometric lamps hanging from the counter and the plant wall truly add to the minimalist but homey vibe of the place. And don't even get me started on the music - it will have you Shazaming songs left and right. We were immediately greeted by very patient and personable staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home. We were offered plates and extra knives and the coffee is straight bussin. Clean facilities are available for all of your early morning needs if you catch my drift... We feel like we can leave SB as new and rejuvenated people, not the mess we were just a few hours ago.
I am visiting for a few weeks and have been coming here every morning. The staff has been extremely kind and my americano has been consistently delicious. One of the best customer service experiences I’ve had. Also the staff seems to really get along with each other which is nice to see. Watching them all check in with each other was a sweet little thing to witness.
For my first time here, it was a lovely coffee stop. It's nice to see smaller coffee stores that aren't Starbucks, so I tried it out. Being so close to ucsb, the crowd is predominantly college aged, so lots of people studying. The vanilla latte was great tasting and reasonably priced for the size.
Great staff. Everybody is always friendly and they know coffee. The ambiance is pretty standard coffee shop with great music and energy. Not a lot of seating inside, but they have two large outside seating areas. Have never had a bad coffee there.
Great coffee, great service. We stopped by while driving through the area. I ordered the almond butter banana toast, a macchiato and an americano. A+ for all three and everyone was super nice.
This is a very well run local chain. I don't often have the time to stop by here, but I'm always satisfied when I do. Delicious coffee and pastries, more importantly a very efficient, polite and competent staff. For me the deciding factor in my being a returning customer at any business, is how I am being treated, and this place always makes you feel welcome.
Quick, friendly service and delicious coffees!! ☕
I got the tres leche latte and my partner got the fancy drink and both of them were amazing. The facility was nice and the baristas knew a good bit about their coffee. Am disappointed I live too far away to become a regular
I love this location! Their coffee is great; I buy my whole coffee beans from here as well as the occasional latte. The interior decorating is beautiful and calming.
Great across the board, had indoor and outdoor seating. Great merchandise, and very friendly staff. I ordered an Iced vanilla latte, a plain croissant, and chocolate filled croissant. My group ordered an avocado toast and a banana toast. Both had great reviews for it.
Strong, great tasting quality coffee, friendly staff, festive Halloween decorations.
I am giving them 5 stars even though I would probably not go back. If you are a high level coffee drinker (read: coffee snob 🫶), looking for a place to enjoy a perfectly made espresso drink, then this is your spot! If, like me, you are a basic bee and just want your cold brew with hazelnut and oat milk on your way to work, then you are out of luck! Because they do not believe in flavors here and have none. I suppose flavor syrups would cover up the nuanced flavors of their beans.
Great place to work or get a coffee, clean inside has windows facing all directions so its always well lit
Fun spot with great coffee. Big trendy space, some seating inside. Have fun merch too. Coffee was great. Avocado toast was nice but pricey ($9 for 1 slice???) They also have some outdoor seating inside the front and back.
Nice vibe, the blueberry scone was superb! The coffee was a bit too acidic too my taste. We ordered 3 drinks and barista forgot one :)
Delicious coffee, delicious bagels, it’s really crowded, but it’s worth it.
"Dune Coffee in Santa Barbara offers a cozy atmosphere with a wide range of coffee selections. The baristas are friendly and skilled, creating delicious coffee drinks. The minimalist decor and relaxed vibe make it a great spot to unwind. A must-visit coffee shop for coffee enthusiasts in Santa Barbara."
The cafe has the usual selection for a coffee and tea spot. I had a smooth "iced chai latte with oat milk." As a plus, they use biodegradable straws and the service was friendly. Not too many seats for dine-in though.
Great coffee shop, maybe the best almond toast I’ve ever had. A little pricey but good quality and great inside and outside seating options!
A chain coffee place with reliable and good coffee drinks. The avocado toast is a thick hearty bread that handles the slathered avocado and strong salt flakes well. Cherry tomatoes are have little voice over the rest of the toast. Tables and window seating invites college students to study or find a reason to lull around. Outdoor seating is always ideal with such wonderful Santa Barbara weather. Hands down a better tasting coffee than Starbucks.
Came here twice on my short trip to SB and both times the ladies behind the counter were very nice and my latte was absolutely perfect. I’m an oat milk latte person and I don’t like it too sweet when I add vanilla. I asked for only half the amount and they made it perfectly. Best latte I’ve had in a long time. Lots of outdoor seating and pastry options.
This is coffee at a super high level. Amazing, friendly staff, the drinks are on point and the pastries are totally worth it. This Pumpkin Spice Latte and Ginger Cookie might be the best combo of fall 👌🏼Oh yeah!
Always love going there to get some work done. Thought I took photos of the place but can't find them now. I prefer this place to the one downtown - has more tables, nicer outdoor patio, restrooms, etc.
Lovely service and great coffee. My family swamped the cashier but she did a great job and took the time to answer all of our questions without rushing us. The almond croissants are fantastic and worth a buy!
Reminded me of why I love coffee! Cappuccino was full of fruit forward flavours which matched nicely with the creaminess of the well steamed milk. With lighter roasted beans I would expect some sourness (which I'm not a big fan of), but I didn't get any of that. 👌 Atmosphere was great and staff was welcoming. Wish I had time to stay!

The staff was very friendly. They have a reusable cup free upgrade which comes with a 50 cent discount per refill. Great quality coffee and not overpriced.
The coffee is very good although sometimes it is not as hot as I would like. The atmosphere is decent, sometimes you get people having a loud zoom meeting with no headphones on which isn't really dune's fault but it can be obnoxious. Judging on flavor alone it's probably my favorite coffee around.

Espresso drinks are good - especially enjoy having a cappuccino or latte at this location. Good location with plenty of parking and natural light permeating through. Customer service is mostly good from the staff during my visits. Appreciate the clean and accessible bathrooms, no need for a code or a key like in some other cafes. Reasons for not bumping up to 5 stars: wish they were open later (at least until 6:00 PM perhaps?) and would be nice if they had a strong dark roast option for drip coffee at this location.
Cool atmosphere. My wife really liked her latte. I had an Americano but wasn't really impressed because the espresso tasted a little weak and watered down but maybe I just needed to ask for another shot. The girl at the counter taking our order was very friendly and pleasant
This particular location is pretty sleepy; I suppose that means it's a good place to do some work. The coffee is always great: consistent espresso and good cold brew. The cappuccino and machiatto type drinks are wetter than I'd typically like, but that seems more or less standard around the Santa Barbara area.
They focus on light/medium (medium rare, as the barista proudly told me) roasts to maximize the native flavor of their beans vs the roasting flavor profile, which I prefer. This technique can backfire (overly sour coffee, etc) but the espresso shot I had ordered had a wonderfully apple fruit flavor. The baristas also had a keen enthusiasm to made my family and I feel welcome. I would have preferred the typically requisite glass of seltzer water that these types of coffee shops serve alongside straight espresso—hence the four instead of five stars. For the prices they charge ($6-$7 for pour overs!), they will have to keep to this tier of traditions. Regardless, visit this solid coffee spot if you need a fix and don't want burnt Starbucks.
Update Review Nov 29. Are a lot of coffee shops now using crappy tasting oak milk! What happened!!!! Absolutely the worst taste. This is happening elsewhere too as more shops are switching to this awful stuff. Not a good idea. It tastes AWFUL!!! Latte was a throw away and bad tastes lingers on and on, even upsets my stomach. Get this fixed! Used to have wonderfully great tasting coffee drinks here. What good is the coffee if the shop ruins it with a disgusting tasting milk???
The coffee was quick and the Tres Leches latte taste great, however they had Zero food. Granted, it was being delivered at that moment so I assume it’s fresh and probably good, however it’s interesting they let the food entirely run out to zero offering before replenishing.
Consistently solid coffee, great service. Brand new, with plenty of seating, unlike the State Street location. No outlets though, which seems to be a design decision, not an oversight.
This place is tucked in the most inconvenient place and the both times that I’ve gone I’ve waited over 20 minutes for my drink. At first I thought maybe I walked in when it was busy, but the second time I walked there was not many people and I still waited a ridiculous amount of time for my drink. I wouldn’t go back. I don’t get the hype. Long wait for mid coffee.

Friendly staff and a pleasant locale. However my coffee was served lukewarm and the croissant was doughy, not flaky, a disappointing purchase for $8.75. I recommend Renaud's Cafe in Santa Barbara for genuine French pastry and more reasonable prices.
Criticizing the coffee only. The espresso was bitter, either go coarser or .tamp properly on those beans. The baristas are undertrained teenagers. It feels like the baristas are not at the level as the roasts. I think the shop can benefit from training their workers to pull better espresso shots. The beans smelled delicious but I didn’t get to taste the aromas not a balanced espresso due to the bad extraction. You may not notice the low quality of the espresso extraction if you come for a latte or a cappuccino (or anything masked with half a liter of milk). If you like espresso, macchiatos, cortados or flatwhites go to Handlebar, Caje or Old town Coffee.
I've been a loyal customer of Dune Coffee Roasters since they first opened their doors in downtown Santa Barbara, but I'm sad to say the experience has deteriorated significantly. The service has become notably poor, with staff often acting as though they're doing you a favor rather than providing hospitality—basic customer service training seems desperately needed. While the coffee itself is decent, it now feels overpriced for what you actually receive, especially given the lackluster service. I hope they can turn things around because the potential is there, but right now I can't recommend it as I once did.

Food and coffee is mediocre. I got a toasted everything bagel and tried their tres leches coffee and was severely disappointed, im not sure why the reviews are so high. Staff is not friendly at all. I placed an order for here and waited for my bagel and drink on their outdoor patio right by the door, after quite some time I went up to the counter to check and found that my bagel and drink had been sitting there. Why did they ask for my name for the order if they did not call it out when it was ready? Or at the very least bring it to me when they saw me right by the door? Don’t go here, spend your money and time elsewhere.
I am not a person to leave a review but here it goes. I like to support coffee shops in the area that I am visiting. Dune coffee came up. I looked over their reviews and pictures looked great. My husband and I walked over. The person that took our order we couldn't hear him. He was not helpful or friendly. We placed our order for one regular coffee, macchiato with two ham and cheese and one cinnamon roll. Coffee was not hot just like warm. The Coffee had a weird after taste. The macchiato was more like an espresso shot with a cute design on top. Ham and cheese croissants were cold. The person taking the order didn't even ask if we wanted them warmed up. He forgot to give them to us. I had to go ask for them. The staff making coffee were also not friendly or helpful in any way. Their was no "welcoming environment " of any kind. The only thing I liked about that place is the cinnamon croissant that was good. We ended up at the Slodoco donuts. This place was friendly and a much better place.
Coffee was fine but prioritizing online orders over orders placed in stores is huge turn off. Shouldn’t have to wait 15-20 minutes because a bunch of online orders were placed the moment I placed an order. The smug response when I asked about this was not helpful.
The female cashier made me feel super uncomfortable it felt like she didn’t want to help me out and switched with a male coworker. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and when I got it there was no syrup it was just an iced latte with milk and espresso. When I went back to ask for them to add flavor the female was back on the register. The male didn’t seem like he wanted to fix the mistake. He was being rude about it and made it feel like we were an inconvenience. There were no other guests in line, besides two other people waiting on their order. The environment was very negative and I would recommend any other local coffee shops.
Dune used to be my favorite until this morning. I ordered a vanilla latte and it was warm and did not like it. The person who made it was talking to a customer when I got to the store to pickup my order. Unsure if he wasn't concentrated but this coffee did not taste as good as it used to be. Plus, the person who made it just dropped the coffee at the counter and called my name and did not even looked at me or say thank you. So disappointed. Not my favorite coffee shop anymore
