Sat and served quickly despite it being a pretty full night. Very generous portions. Food that should be spicy was actually spicy. Only nitpick -- I'd prefer a less lean burger patty since it's cooked well.
Fun, lively atmosphere. Staff are simultaneously laid back and upbeat. Tried the guacamole to order. It needed a bit more lime (easy fix). My husband really enjoyed it. I thought it a bit too "chunky". He had a trio of tacos os and the Shrimp Matcha was the highlight of his plate. I had a chicken street taco which had a generous portion of juicy shredded chicken. I also tried the Diablo because I like it spicy and it delivered! Great heat, but too oily for me to order again. Overall, very tasty casual meal in an inviting space. Will come again!
Stopped for a quick bite to eat on a road trip and it didn't disappoint. We made it in time for happy hour which allowed us to get some great prices on the poblano cheese and bean dip and a skinny burrito. The braised beef in the burrito was excellent and shreddy. The avocado sauce was a bit smoky and full of flavor. I highly recommend stopping in.
finding good food while traveling might be my favorite part of the adventure. Being from Houston we have some great Mexican (and texmex) restaurants. so I was blown away to find some in the mountains of Oregon. Great guac with house made chips, the best Chile relleno I’ve ever had, and vegetarian beans! So many places make their beans too salty and loaded with meat. Not needed as a side in my opinion.
Amazing food, atmosphere and service. House margaritas and braised beef tacos were unbelievable. David took wonderful care of us and even gave us some mementos to remember the place by. Can’t wait to go back!! Him and Robin really know how to cook with love
Great food after a day on the road. Fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and quick service.
Had dinner at a Mexican restaurant at Mt. Hood. Wasn’t necessarily expecting a lot at a destination like this. But they earned 5 stars. Margaritas were excellent. We had a flight of salsas to try. A Mexican chicken soup with a fancy name that was super tasty. And a birria style quesadilla that was way more than I could handle. Amy our server was also very nice, kind and helpful. Had a great outdoor eating area as well. We sat in a low to the ground couch type seating area which was a lot of fun. Will definitely add this to the list whenever I’m around Mt. Hood. 5 stars for Amy and for Chicali Cantina.
Update! Came again and it was amazing just as the first time! Added some more pictures of our favorites! Best Food! Cool environment! Welcoming atmosphere! We wanted to try it all! My group started with margaritas, their salsa sampler, nachos and guacamole. It will definitely be a must to order all of that again! We had 6 different salsas to enjoy, the guacamole was like I’ve never had before and the cheese sauce on the nachos was out of this world! We then ordered several tacos to try and though they were all delicious, the one you dip like a French dip was my favorite! We also ordered a shrimp meal that had cheese and a chili pepper underneath the shrimp. Everything was so unique and delicious! We went here because we were visiting the Mt. Hood area from PDX but will be making the trek out in the future just to eat at this restaurant!
Delicious food. Margaritas were fantastic as well! We loved all the salsas. Nothing but good things to say about this place!
Best restaurant in the area! The people here are so nice and friendly, the environment is great and the food is beyond expectations! The tacos are so special and so delicious. We ordered house taco, street taco and shrimp taco. Strongly recommend ordering any tacos. We went skiing here in Mt Hood and it’s mostly American style restaurants with burgers and fries which are quite unhealthy to have for several meals consecutively. This is truly a more special place.
The Barilla tacos are amazing... wow.. Order them as a special request with grilled cheese on outside of the tacos and prepare your taste buds for an explosion of taste!! Dip it in the consome and be like.. wow!! I'm definitely gonna stop by again if I'm ever in the area.
We tired the cheese encrusted quesebirria quesadilla for our appetizer and it was so perfect. It had an crunchy outside and cheesy inside, with the birria sauce. I had the house margarita and it was OK, nothing that stands out. Our favorite is the street taco platter. It's just about to much food for 2 people but it's so good you make room. It's a little taste of their chicken, pork, carda asada, and beef.

We were BLOWN AWAY by the service, food, and atmosphere of this place. We had a late lunch on the heated, covered patio on a Friday afternoon. For starters, we had house margaritas (happy to report they use paper straws!) and the salsa sampler. Pro tip: the printed menu only has a trio, so make sure to ask for the cinco! My husband had the carnitas street tacos and I had the vegetarian enchiladas. Everything was well-priced, sizable portions, and absolutely delicious. Canine reviews of the menu are raving as well. Sandwich and Zeke made happy bowls of both the Pupa-Chicken and Pup-Dessert dishes. The decor inside is beautiful and has more of a Vegas feel than an Oregon Mountain. The lounge and bar area will definitely be visited by us for some apres ski margs in the near future. I could see this being a great place to celebrate a birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party. I don't normally review bathroom amenities, but you MUST try the owner's homemade sugar scrub! My hands have never felt softer. What I was most impressed with was the genuine care and attention we received from our server Garrett and the rest of the staff. The cooks, wait staff, and manager all came by to say hello to the dogs and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. We'll be back again soon!
I’ve eaten my fair share of Mexican cuisine. From LA, NY, SF, OAK, SEA, MIA, CHI, NO, SAC, and of course POR. This place takes the reigns as one of the best. Not only was the quality amazing, but the portions 🤤Service was amazing and we were VERY obnoxious after our snowboarding trip. I will be returning again!
Great experience all the way around. I wish I could give the friendly light haired gal who helped us 10 stars, she was great! Food was excellent and fairly priced. If this place was closer to my home I'd be a regular!

Fantastic flavors, great portions, really friendly staff. We got a big take out meal, and next time I think we will eat in! Great Mexican food.
Here on meditative vacation from a large city. We love Mexican food! Five alarm taco great! Shrimp enchilada, shrimp and carne asada enchilada, avocado ranch burger and the chili rellano plate. Extremely different from anywhere else. In the same return, absolutely delicious. Huge portions had to take three dishes home. Everything was great. Server seem to be all over the place and it was slow and played a little bit too much on the flirty which offended my husband. I laughed about it cuz I'm a server from years ago but he was offended. Other than that everything was delicious and I really enjoyed it. Without having alcohol and it was basically just entrees. We paid just over $100. Not too bad.

Their nachos with their different kinds of salsas is a must try. Their food was ok. Not your typical Mexican food. Rice is definitely not your typical. But their drinks were good as well. Service was great.
Attend this added note, set fair and kindly: This proved a most welcome discovery upon the road to Mount Hood, and quickly became my chosen house for Mexican fare along the way. It might have worn five stars proudly, had it not been for the shredded chicken, which offended me greatly. I beg the kitchen, in all kindness, to cease serving that particular offering to well meaning folk. Some things are better retired with dignity. The guacamole is truly good, made as it ought to be, and the margaritas hold their own, which at that price they most certainly should. The space itself is generous and well suited for families, with room enough for children to sit, move, and remain content. It must also be said that the staff are most welcoming and the atmosphere very friendly, adding greatly to the ease of the visit. One final word to those in charge. Consider replacing whatever spectacle currently loops upon the television, for it is a parade of nonsense that distracts more than it delights. Mend that small folly, and this stop may yet rise closer to perfection.

I ordered the verde enchiladas, they were okay nothing to write home about. The rice is TERRIBLE. It has no flavor and almost tastes like its cauliflower rice with no seasoning. The burrito my husband got was okay as well. Service was not great.
Went during happy hour after hiking around Mt. Hood. My server seemed stressed, but still managed to provide excellent service. The food however was kind of bland. The rice and beans are unauthentic and tasted like they came from a can. For my entree, I got the cheese cooked quesobirria. The birria was savory and tasted great, but the cheese on the outside of the tortilla tasted burnt. I also got a Jalepeño margarita that was very stiff and delicious. Although the portions were huge, the restaurant is still pretty expensive. The atmosphere could have been better as well. The heated patio was great, but the radio was playing English pop music, rather than the authentic Mexican music you’d find at other Cantinas. The restaurant is exactly what you’d expect for a gentrified Mexican restaurant
The most bland rice and beans we’ve ever tasted. Big portions but the food is very mid and the service was slow and weird. We had to get silverware ourselves and weren’t brought water for 15 minutes. Service was super slow and it didn’t even seem that busy. The food itself was bland. We got the chipotle cream enchiladas and the beans and rice tasted old. Also marg pitchers were $75-$105 which is INSANE. Don’t stop by if you’re visiting nearby lake or campgrounds.

I just want to start off and say that the customer service was great, they were super nice and generous. Sadly great customer service cant help the food. This place tries to give you authentic Mexican food but trust it barely qualifies as that. The burrito i got was not that good, the rice was bad somehow, the beans tasted like it came out of a can, and the carne asada made me question if what i was eating carne asada. That within a burrito just sucks plus the sauce all over the burrito made it hard to eat. I don’t know why they didn’t just put the cheese inside the burrito. The poblano dip was really good though, who ever does the cheese…give them a raise😭. The quesa birria was super good as well. Overall though sadly this place disappointed me. Y’all’s can do better….💔
Great atmosphere as far as restaurants go up here. Food is fine. Looks good. This last time I was at the bar I left after ten minutes of waiting for a drink. No one talked to me. Crazy. If you just say I'm busy I'll be with you when I can and then check in I'll stay. Life long restaurant worker.
