This was a great place! We loved it very much. We are from out of the area and enjoyed this cozy little café. It is so clean and the restrooms are beautiful. The inside is welcoming and the staff is simply amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. Please go and then go again! Because you'll want more. Thank you for a great adventure. My husband and I appreciated your hospitality and the meal was more than we could have ever dreamed of.

So delicious and affordable! We got two fiesta bowls, one with the pollito mojito and another with the vaca frito. Just the rice and beans were delicious and fragrant, so with the toppings, meat, and sauces, it was amazing. Very nutritious and almost everything is gluten free. Highly recommend!

There aren’t too many Cuban places in the Bay Area and I gotta say Cuban Kitchen is worth the trip to San Mateo alone. This is authentic, home cooked delicious Cuban food. It feels like you’re eating inside of their home. I don’t I why some reviews said the portion size was small, that’s simply not true. I went by that and added a side of meat thinking I’d need it. I got the Mojito Chicken platter with the yellow rice and sub tostones for the maduros, and side half order lechon with beans. The chicken was good, but this was easily the best lechon I’ve ever had. It wasn’t greasy, or dry, it was super tender chunks of perfectly cooked pork. The crunch of the tostones and the black beans makes for one of the best bites of food. Also the sauces here absolutely spectacular, and they got a cafe Cubano here that can easily compete with the ones in Miami. The lady working was also super nice and welcoming. Definitely recommend coming here

I loved the food here. Had a really great Cuban coffee, took me back to how I felt in Havana sipping away. The Tostonas were amazing. I could drop in there just to get a dozen of those. Wait until you try their special sauces, clearly my favorite was the jalapeño mayo. I do look forward to going back very soon. Looking forward to meeting the owner

Cuban Kitchen in San Mateo hits the spot with their classic Cuban sandwich. The non alcoholic mojito lemonade is delicious and a great refresher on a hot day for sure. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, would recommend stopping by after shopping at the mall or on your way to the hiking trails.

First time here. Food is amazing. Since we are the first timer, they gave us a small sample plate. Even my picky eater mother likes the food. The ambiance is also good, seems we were the only non-Spanish speakers here, this reflects their authenticity. Price is also reasonable given the large portion.

I love this place, the food is so good I recommend (mojito chicken) pollito mojito and sandwich Cuban and remember my childhood in Mexico (Veracruz) with ropa vieja is so good the bread flavor and texture is amazing and cortadito to cold or hot where ever is good

My family and I absolutely adore this place. The service is great and the food is excellent. The Ropa Vieja platter is our personal favorite as it's jam-packed with flavor and all the sauces they provide when you dine-in complement the meal so well too! Highly recommend 👌

Flavorful Cuban favorites in an inviting setting. The menu is focused on a handful of protein dishes, served in different options (sandwich, bowl, burrito, plate), some readily made, some slow cooked (offering deep homemade flavours). Add a selection of sides, appetizers and desserts to make an appealing menu. The service was friendly, and right on point, and the dining area simple but nicely done. Bottomline: comfort food, reasonably priced, in a welcoming environment. We will definitely be back.

I discovered this awesome place today, I'm visiting from Chicago. The food was plentious, and delicious. I had the salmon, my husband had Chicken, rice n beans. The sauces were bomb, can't wait till they are available for purchase. I met the owners Lynna and Lila they were very courteous. If u want some tasty not just ordinary run of the mill food check them out.

Nice little joint. Customer-friendly menu choices let you can combine style of dish with proteins and sides. People around me mentioning that it reminds them of the cuban kitchens in Miami. Reasonable prices, parking, friendly service. We will be back.

This is a small family run restaurant with a taste of old Cuban food. The Cuban lechon sandwich was tasty, but relative small. Ordered the rice and bean plates with meat. Noticed that there were no vegetables with the order. They only have a dish with broccoli. The yuca fries were very well prepared.

Had to ask for water (2 glasses please!) about 4 times before we actually got any. And we ended up with just 1 glass 🥺 That took 40 minutes! They also failed to take our order (I had to come to the counter after a while to tell them we're ready) and after telling us twice that they would bring hot sauces I think they forgot and I had to ask about them :) The food itself was pretty good. Just frustrated that there was no water. I think I'd have been less frustrated if there was simply a water station that I coulda fetched from myself.

This is not Cuban food! It says black beans they are lentil beans! The yellow rice is so gross. Plus they have a first time customer free sample and we got nothing and didn’t offer or try to make up for it! We wasted money and left hungry! I don’t know why it has good reviews but they must be fake! Look at all my reviews I’m a real local reviewer. And my partner is a real Cuban man this food will leave your stomach upside down! He did say everyone was ordering the sandwich so it might be known only for the sandwich but if I wanted a sandwich I would be going to a sandwich shop not a restaurant. So that’s why I gave it a 2 and not a 1!!
