We stopped for lunch and ordered a barbecue plate and a grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was superb. It took a little while for the crew to make it but I was not disappointed. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sandwich was huge. Saved half for later. The barbecue plate did not disappoint. The ribs were delicious. We were happy and full leaving the restaurant.
Happened to stop by an old favorite which had lost its shine during Covid years. Gabbys BBQ on North Shepherd has returned to its throne! At least on this one occasion it has lol. The ribs and beef were superb. Trust me, I don’t mess around with mediocre bbq as a native Texan. Gabbys, so glad you’ve got your zing back!!!
One of the better barbecue places around. Hardly await. Food is always great. Definitely recommend. Monday through Friday specials. The kiddos love it.
Consistently good food. Prices aren't too bad. Staff is friendly.
My boyfriend and I are BBQ enthusiasts, and we’ve tried over 10 different BBQ spots in Houston—nothing comes close to Gabby’s! The service is always amazing, fast, and consistent. The portioning and pricing is pretty normal for anyone who knows bbq. The food is top-notch every time, making this our go-to BBQ spot. Highly recommend! The 3 meat is the best!
Great place for a quick drive thru BBQ fix
I love everything, quick service, all spices and sauces are available. Their Baked Potato is awesome! Their Brisket is kinda dried (overcooked) hence the meat is not good but edible enough to pair with the potato. Music is kind of annoying, since the music glitch a lot but they don't do anything to it, better no music at all than distracting. Over all, everything's good and clean. Price is reasonable and affordable.
Chicken portion size was really small. Little disappointed but taste good just small pieces.
I just went here for lunch on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. I ordered a fully loaded potato with beef brisket barbecue- very good!
It was our first time at this establishment. This is will be our #1 place to come always!! Delicious goodness in every bite!😋
Neighborhood BBQ place. Quick, friendly. Had the ribs and fries with a beer. Ribs were tender without being overcooked, fries were hot, and beer was cold. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Very very good food! Easy place to spot as well.
Ordered a delivery from here and it’s simply awesome! I ordered 3 meats, spare ribs, turkey breast and brisket with 2 sides, fried okra and beans. The meats are tender, love their beans, and the first time I try fried okra. The second secret? Their delicious smoky sweet BBQ sauce! Recommended!
My wife usually gets a baked potato with chopped brisket and I get a burger. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The workers are nice and funny.
The Greatest 4 Meat Plate comes with 4 meats of your choice and two sides of your choice as well. The brisket is tender and the sausage is pretty good too. I do recommend you buy your own barbeque sauce though. My choice of sides were the red beans and rice with green beans which were decently seasoned. It also comes with pickles and jalapenos for that extra flavor. Portions are just right and it comes in a neat container too.
Best honest BBQ in Houston, been eating here for years already never disappointed!! Amazing ribs and grass BBQ taste.
Having only one night in Houston, and having picked another place that was closed for the evening, I decided on Gabby's. I chose the 4 meat platter. Long story short, each meat was the best meat of that meat I've ever had. I am in NC where we have a different bbq and being from up north we don't have this type of BBQ around very much. The banana pudding was also so so so amazing! The Mac & cheese was very muted. Not a ton of flavor, and potato salad was fine.
I will start by saying kids eat free on Sunday's!!!!!. Food was great my kids got chickens strips and i got the 3 meat entree. Wife got the chicken entree we all got generous portions of everything. This is my 1st time here and I really loved it. If you have kids this is the place to come and eat on a sunday or any day of the week. I will be coming back again.
The food is always great. And the staff is wonderful and very friendly and helpful. It is a family favorite for sure.
My first time at Gabby's. Inside looked nice and cleaned! The personnel were very kind to my wife and I. A very peaceful place. The ribs and brisket were delicious! Thank you guys!
Just moved into the neighborhood and will def return. My wife has a soy allergy. Staff was very kind & supportive helping confirm what food was soy free. We ordered the family meal which include 3/4 lbs each of boneless chopped brisket, sliced sausage and Whole roasted chicken with Mac-n-cheese and green beans. Happy to see they serve GMO free Ketchup as well.
Good average BBQ. Ribs and brisket are always good choices. Fried okra is a good side. Chicken is my family favorite. I tried the pecan pie and I will pass on this. Will try other desserts next time.
Earlier this week I had Gabby's bbq for the first time. I ordered online for pickup and came in and the staff was nice and quick. Even though the spot has great reviews, I was a little skeptical when I drove up and saw that they're related to Spanky's pizzeria. However, I was very impressed by everything we tried; the brisket, jalapeño sausage, potato salad, Cajun rice, beans, and Mac and cheese. I especially loved the smokey taste of the brisket!
The ribs we ordered for the holiday were good. They fell off the bone. The customer service was great. I was able to call and get the pick up time moved up earlier. I had questions because a friend was supposed to pick up the order. The staff rearranged it so I could pick it up. Very accommodating. Would recommend!
Ordered Sampler plate to go with chopped brisket, jalapeño link and ribs. Sides were mac and cheese, potato salad, and green beans. Plate came with bread, pickles, onions and jalapeños. Everything was delicious. Placed order online and it was ready upon arrival. Dined in years ago and experience was just as good.
I've only ever had delivery from this place, but have been pleased every time. It's my go-to for BBQ when I'm in town. I like the dirty rice and beans as sides. Brisket is flavorful and the ribs are always appropriately meaty.
We ordered a stuffed baker, baby back ribs, and chicken fried steak. The sides we chose were mashed potatoes, green beans, cream corn, and mac-n-cheese. The meats all had wonderful flavor but the ribs were especially good! Deep, smoky flavor and they were very moist, fall off the bone. All of the sides tasted great as well. We really appreciated the prices- $25 for a full rack of ribs with $3 sides. And the banana pudding was delicious! The service friendly and very fast. The restaurant was comfortable with really nice decor and very clean.
Gabby's BBQ.... WOW! Went for the first time. We are not from Houston but stumbled on to Gabby's. So happy we found them. I asked if they had a burnt ends sandwich, they said we have a sliced brisket and would slice the burnt ends for me a sandwich. It was amazing! I also had the Cajun Beans and rice as well as the fries. Both were excellent! The fries are thick cut like homemade fries but crispy! The BBQ sauce has a really good flavor. Heads up- it's thin so apply slowly. We also had the Tuesday Special- half chicken and two sides. The chicken was thick, juicy and fall off the bone tender! The baked beans were unique, thick and had a good BBQ flavor. They sell desserts but I was unable. Very clean place, nicely decorated and very friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend Gabby's and would go back!
I have been to this place a few times and everytime the food was delicious. The service was fast and the staff has always been friendly.

Latest meal was the best we've had from here. I got a baked potato with chicken. Chicken was cooked perfectly. My husband got the ribs and said they were the best he'd had from Gabby's. Whoever you…
Always consistently good food and friendly service! That's how they've started in business for so long.
Yummy bbq food, we tried several sides and enjoyed the meats. Nice seating and air conditioning inside or take it to go option. Also good service, fast and friendly.
Always great tasting food ready in minutes wonderful staff you can pick food up at the drive-through or go inside to the pleasant dining room
The whole experience was pretty good. I would probably stick to the ribs over the brisket in the future.. they need to work on their sauce
The food is very good ..but they forgot to put my Fritos with my BBQ Pie ..Wheewww that was very upsetting...
It was a good amount for food for the price. I got two 3 meat plares with 2 sides for about $35. The only reason I didn't gone 5 stars is the fried okra I ordered was undercooked. Still hard and raw on the inside. But the potato salad was a nice compliment with a nice mustardy taste.
Ribs were delicious sides not so good. Will go back and try it again. We saw the sign on the highway as we are not from Houston. Because it said Gabby's BBQ and that's my daughter's name we tried it. Atmosphere was very nice. It's worth trying.
For me, this is my favorite Barbeque place in Houston for overall experience. The food is good, the sandwiches big, the ambiance traditional and relaxing, the service fast and the pace of enjoyment wonderfully slow. Also, they don't treat their customers like the customers are lucky to be there (like other barbeque places). I'm not looking for the latest and greatest, I'm looking for the most consistent over time. I found it. No fuss, no muss. Thanks Gabby's.
BBQ was delicious and the portion sizes nice for the price I paid. I’d def visit again in the future.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was a chill environment on a Sunday evening. The Brisket was good and so was the Mac & cheese but the beans and Cajun rice was a little too spicy to my taste. There's condiment section near the fountain drinks / sweet teas where you could get pickles, onions, lemons, bread and some other stuff. They also have mints near the front door lol
Food is okay staff is always friendly and they do a good job social distancing. I live in west houston and would make the drive because of the live music on fridays and Saturdays. Sad to find out they no longer do this. I don't think the drive is no longer worth it for this reason. I can get bar b que anywhere in houston but the old school live music on a Friday night is very hard to come by.
Came here off the rec of my friends and I am happy I came. I ordered the turkey bbq plate. The meat is so lean and high quality. The potato salad HIT and the green beans weren’t bad. They had samples of a pumpkin pie and the green bean casserole and it was good. The meat wasn’t served with the sauce on top like I’m used to but they have bbq for you to pour to your hearts desire. The sauce is pretty good. I took it to go and have used it on other dishes other than my leftovers. We ordered fried okra as an appetizer and they did fried okra great! My friend literally wanted to come for the chicken tender salad and I can see why! It’s really chicken tenders with a side of salad but the chicken tenders are cooked in a way to me, I’ve never had before. Idk if it’s the bread mix they use or the way they cook the tenders but they were GREAT! The manager was very friendly and let me know that kids eat free on Sundays. I’ll definitely have to take up that offer. We got one of each dessert to go and it was my first time having pecan pie which I know now I don’t like. The peach cobbler was NOT good, but the banana pudding was. I would get that dessert again. Now would I say it’s the best bbq, no. But it’s certainly not the worse and I would eat here again 😌
Generous portions friendly staff clean restaurant just wish the bbq sauce wasn't so watery
Was a pleasant surprise to try some new BBQ and come up with a local gem. The service at Gabby's BBQ was top notch, friendly, educational as first timers (asked for their top sellers), checked on us after we ordered multiple times. You could fell the family like establishment here, and the attention to its customers. Which I feel is highly missed by owners these days Highly suggest trying the RIBS & Turkey. Normally, I'm not a fan of Turkey. But this was moist, with a great Smokey flavor. The Ribs pulled perfectly off the bone. Awesome smoke w that sweet glaze. Fair warning, it can get a little sticky, but well worth the mess. ;) The brisket & sides were ok, just nothing special here. If you're a fan of Mac & cheese, it was very cheesy. Wasn't a fan of the runny sauce, but could just be preference. The Sausage would be another great choice. Wish I could show the juiciness of each slice. Finally the star of the show: Peach Cobbler!!! Wow! I myself don't like peach cobbler. But the cinnamon crust, the flavor was just perfection. This is a must try for everyone that steps in. Overall it was a great experience. We will definitely be back for more. What was your favorite item? How was your experience? Hope more try and learn about Gabby's Bar B Q, think some of the other joints could learn a thing or two from their meats. @follow for more Until next time.
The food was pretty good and they had decent portions. One thing that was lacking for me was the barbecue sauce- which helps greatly to contribute to the taste of my barbecue. Their sauce was very watered down both in the bottle as well as when you asked the counter. The people were nice but didn't go out of their way about anything. I liked the fact that they had a typing bar where you can get your extra toppings though... that is not common with many restaurants of this type. They even had sour cream on it- although it wasn't covered. One thing I was very disappointed about is the fact that the menu states kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays but they did not uphold that nor did they offer any discounts- even when ordering the kids meal with the child in view. I feel as if businesses should honor what they say they offer and I was definitely disappointed by that. Overall it was a pretty average experience that I will not break my neck to go back to- as I've been to some better barbecue spots in the city.
I recently visited Gaby’s BBQ and ordered the baked potato with brisket. I asked for the brisket extra lean, which was great since it wasn’t too fatty. The potato was satisfying, and the food came out fast with no wait. I also tried the macaroni, but it was just okay— a bit dry for my taste. Overall, the BBQ was good and hit the spot, but I have to say, Pappas BBQ is still my go-to for that extra flavor. If you’re in a hurry and want some solid BBQ, Baby's is a decent option.
The chicken was fine but pieces were small. Their spare ribs were a little too " charred" on the outer bark but the inside was tender. Someone didn't think about "User Friendlyness" when it came …
Exceeded expectations. The brisket and ribs were nice cuts of meat and well priced. The bbq sauce wasn't very good but the customer service made up for it where they prepped pickles, onions, pepper…

I will drive across town to get an order from here and love it USUALLY! My order Saturday was so hard! It was simple...a chopped beef sandwich add cheese...nothing else and that was almost $15...ridiculous. There is some type of construction going on therefore the traffic was horrible to get back to the location. I would have went back to return it. They never really have a good attitude at the window...it's just blah.
Got the pulled pork daily special to split with my friend. Good amount of meat, but it was bathing in grease. I had to tip my to go container halfway up to pour the grease out. Potato salad was good but tasted mostly like pickles. Fine food in a bind, but I would not go back there if I had any other options.
This was my second time going. The food was great! My only complaint is the older man who took my order, was impolite and seemed like he was rushing me to order. As soon as I was paying he already had my food on the counter and didn’t give me time to sign the receipt and put my card away. I thought, after getting a table marker, you are supposed to go sit down and they bring your food to you.
I got a brisket plate with an extra side and a drink for $24. The sides and bbq sauce were great. The brisket wasn't moist or fatty the way I like it. The creamed corn was the cheesiest I've had and the potato salad was nice. The cajun rice was ok but I will say I'm not crazy about dirty rice so take that with a grain of salt. Nice staff and cute place. You might like it, but I probably won't be back because brisket is my thing and Gabbys doesn't make it to my liking. Creamed corn was the best thing on my plate and best creamed corn I've ever had. I might come for that.
Brisket dry and over smoked. Link sandwich is also dry. Sauce is so watered down, you might as well drink it out of a straw.Side servings lack luster for what you pay for (small for the price). Chicken tenders are always consistent.
Right from the start the ribs don't look that great, but they were good, full of meat and some fat, a bit dry maybe,l and not that tender. The fried okra was ok, but the french fries were a bit bland, not crispy. Maybe it's in part due to the delivery, but have had far better bbq experiences
Great atmosphere typical bbq joint nothing major bbq was mid, Ribs pre-sauced green beans bland. Sausage and chicken was good, fries are not good at all kids loved the Mac and cheese. Overall 5 out of 10
I have tried this place twice now, first time was decent nothing crazy and second time was awful. I have no idea what happened this second time but the meat was burnt, salty, and stale. I can tell the food they gave me was sitting out for a long time and the grill might have not been cleaned well because instead of a smoky flavor it tasted like moth balls. The banana pudding they gave me was entirely almost just whipped cream, the very bottom of the cup had pudding and the rest was just a mountain of cream. I am being fair with 3 stars because the food was decent the first time I tried it. The macaroni and cheese and sausage are the only items I can call good at the moment.
Ribs were hard to chew but brisket and sausage were totally fine. Also liked the cream corn and rice w beans.. small portions compared to other BBQ places
Ordered to go at the counter. Food came very quickly after I paid. I ordered a 2 meat plate with brisket, sausage, potato salad, and ranch beans. Meat came dry with sauce on the side. Brisket had a deep smoke flavor but not much else, a bit on the dryer side but not terrible. Sausage was okay. Potato salad was lacking. A bit bland. Ranch beans were pretty good. I'm normally not a fan. Paid a total after tax $18.67 Portions can be seen in photo posted. Personally wouldn't go back, but I could see this being a good place if you are trying to grab something quick to eat.
We have had Gabby"s many times and, unfortunately, the quality and portion sizes have gone down to a point that we may stop. I recently had a baker potato that had a disappointing amount of brisket on it, waaaaaay to little BBQ sauce, and no sour cream whatsoever. Because we ordered delivery, we couldn't get more. This has happened a few times lately. There are so many bbq choices in Houston, that skimping out on portion sizes, is a dangerous practice. Especially sauce! There is just NO excuse for that.
I order through Uber Eats, and the restaurant didn’t include my side order. Also, the peach cobbler needed better crust. It was not syrupy. Appeared to be made with bread, sugar and cinnamon only.
It was a good atmosphere. Good for date night with your girlfriend and family meeting. The service was amazing order was quick. I enjoyed the sides more than meat.

The tables were too small. We were sat at a table with four which was really just a table for 2 but smaller. They did not fully cook my ribs or my sausage. The atmosphere was nice though aside from the other mishaps.
Good BBQ does not require BBQ sauce. Bad BBQ can be masked by good sauce….sometimes. Even the BBQ sauce couldn’t save this. The potato salad was bland, the fries tasted like oil, and the brisket/sausage/spare rib plate was a disaster. All of it lacked flavor. Even the sweet tea tasted bitter. The place was clean though, so I guess that’s a positive. (I was starving and considered leaving the food there and going someplace else, but at $25+, I would rather eat tasteless food than spend another $25 for good food.)
I’m relatively new to Houston and had a work group meeting here over dinner. One of my colleagues highly recommended this place and basically stood ten toes down on it. When I arrived on a Fri at 6pm I had no problem parking…not a good sign. Got inside to see my group of 10 and basically 8 other customers. We go up to order our food and were served very fast. I could tell that my food was going to be dry and basic from 10 feet away. I got the ribs, brisket, creamed corn and ranch beans. The beans and sliced bread were the star of this meal 4/10. The corn was probably a 3/10. Brisket was like eating a shoe 0/10 and the ribs were oven baked with moisture but zero seasoning 4/10. The deserts tasted like cafeteria food. No love, just basic. Would I return on my own, no way! Houston has got to have better BBQ out there. I could do better in my backyard for sure. By the way 9 out of 11 of us thought it was not very good. This was the first time in my life that I have left full slices of brisket on my plate.
The staff are friendly, but food has NO FLAVOR. I had the chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. None of it was good. Mac and cheese was probably Kraft. Ended up giving most of the meat to my dog😕. He enjoyed it.
Nice atmosphere, staff were kind and helpful, but the food was not good at all. I had the half chicken with beans and mash, it was bland and cold, very disappointing.
To me it's doesn't meet the high bar of what good BBQ in Houston is. Prompted to tip minimum %18 at the drive thru!? Something not right about the BBQ sauce to me.
Placed an online order and did not appreciate the attitude of Carmen. She did not speak to me well as a customer. She was kind of condescending to me the way she spoke and I did not feel comfortable very unprofessional service. On top of that they forgot to give me my last order which was missing.
This was my first time here I work right down the street and always wanted to try this place so I decided to stop in and take it to go order on a Wednesday evening. It was not busy at all. I decided to do the sampler plate which is three meats and two sides. I declined the sides I didn’t want any sides. I just wanted to try the meats yet I was still charged the same price which was around $21. My order consisted of spareribs, sausage, and brisket BRISKET - dry with no flavor SAUSAGE- very basic didn’t have any type of barbecue flavor whatsoever. It’s like they just took sausage and threw it in the microwave or something I don’t know I’ve had better sausage store-bought along with barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce was not good at all. I’ve had better store-bought SPARE RIBS- had a good spice rub on it however the meat was a bit tough and chewy. Overall I was greatly disappointed in my meal. Try out way better BBQ spots in Houston!

The worse dry azz hard azz flavorless ribs I've ever had in my LIFE! Cole slaw nasty as hell. Fried okra was RE FN FRIED!\n\nDon't waste your mf money
First time here. Will be the last. Brisket dry. Baby back ribs pretty good. expensive for size of the portions.
Got the order wrong food wasn't that good ,came a good ways to eat here ,very sad😒
With nobody in line behind us we were looking over the menu an the cashier said RUDELY to my husband "are yall ordering anything?" Ordered three meat plates with drinks (brisket, sausage and pork ribs were meats) Ribs was fat & bones, the small amount of meat was very tough (under cooked) the brisket was bone dry. The Sausage was ok. The sauce was like water and no tastes. Not worth the time or the money. Very disappointed
Worst food in the city they need to fire all the cooks taste like lighter fluid
Food was Delivered really COLD appeared good at first glance but when you dig into it is old as if they attempted to reheat it in the microwave or something Definitely wasn't fresh meat Did not like the taste . the sides were terrible to .. Disappointed surely Texas Bbq not the best 🙄🤧 Even with the Uber promo this wasn't worth the cost... if I was eating there I would had sent it all back to the kitchen Unacceptable 🚫
Order person too impatient, wanted me to order before I made a decision. After all, I hadn't been there in over a decade and I was the only person waiting to order. The ribs still had blood near the bone. Tough. Can't eat the ribs without sauce, they have no taste. The beans taste like they are straight out of ranch bean can. Could not bring myself to taste the fried okra, the smell of old grease was nasty. Silverware and tables dirty.
I ordered the salad with turkey today and was delivered very dissatisfied because some of the lettuce was brown, the tomatoes looked as if they hey been kept in fridge too long, my third time ordering from there, now I don't feel like I can trust what I'm going to get for my money so it is probably most definitely the last I will order from there, the water standing in the bottom of my salad was a total turn off. Wasted my money and time for lunch
I ordered the beef brisket dinner you won't believe all the meat was nothing but FAT and the ranch style beans were hard and the cream corn was cold see picture attached this is shameful. If I hadn't drove to far away I would have gone back and asked for my money back tried to find some meat from all the fat I ended up throwing the meat away
Trash. Never thought I would be disappointed with any BBQ restaurant in life. And they are too high on pricing when the food taste horrible. Never again.
Okay so first things first DONT ever trust this restaurant with any of your events. I made an order for the price of $190 for Christmas dinner and was supposed to be picked up by 5. I get a call at 4:52 from Michael telling me they closed at 4 and that they didn't see my order until then that they were closing. I had people waiting for food and its really messed up how a restaurant like this couldn't communicate with us earlier. Dont trust this restaurant with something important. Luckily PAPPAS Bar-B-Q was open and they were able to help me with everything. ***Shame on yall Gabby's BBQ and to the staff.
This is the second time in 90 days we have tried to take home enough food for our 4 person family on a Sunday afternoon. Again, the manager tells us they do NOT have any ribs to sell us. They are ALL sold out. So, I asked what time they close, the manager said, "9:00 pm", and I looked at my watch and told him it was 6:30, and for the second time, he states they have been busy, (exactly what he said last time).. Sooo, if that is the case every Sunday, why not anticipate that and prepare more ribs so the public does not get told there are NO RIBS to sell. These have to be really money makers for this business, and if not, and you do not want to have them on the menu, TAKE THEM OFF the menu! So, we wont waste time coming here again!!
