Opiniones de Charley Bird Albee Square
Charlie Bird is my go-to restaurant downtown- always sure to provide a cool happening vibe with their awesome playlists, and the food is sure to overdeliver. Chef Hardy has made me love vegetables that I haven't eaten in years- and it is one of the few places I would even order the chicken! The crudo is always so fresh and bright, and the pastas are homemade and taste like Italy. And then there is the star of the menu- the farro salad. Love love love! I come for the food and the energy, but am always impressed by the happy helpful service who go above and beyond to keep you informed on the menu, and keep your meal on track. Such a solid and constant star. Love this place!
I am drooling just thinking about my last meal at this spot. I look forward to it every visit to this city. Charlie Bird is consistently my #1 recommend. The trout is *chef's kiss*!
The whole staff was amazing and handled our party (high maintenance) with grace and kindness!! Food was delicious!!
Had a wonderful time here bringing my parents who were visiting from out of town. The food was fantastic, literally everything we ordered we devoured, the atmosphere was really fun and the service was incredible. The cocktails and wine also don't miss. The music can be a litttttle bit on the loud side, so for older people or first dates might be not the move, but that's just a personal opinion. Overall the food and service was outstanding. 10/10 can't wait to come back.
My family and I dined here for a late lunch on a Saturday, we had heard good things and were excited to try it out. Our experience did not disappoint! Jay (I’m sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was our server and she was excellent, service was technical but very friendly and kind. She helped guide us through some must have plates and was very attentive throughout the meal. Our wine and water glasses were never empty. The wine list is phenomenal and well constructed. Paris recommended some great wines, and did an amazing job helping to curate our experience. We gave her some flavor profiles and a price range and she knocked it our of the park. My family and I appreciate well executed food and wine without the pretentiousness and both the kitchen and the FOH team emulated exactly that. We had planned on bar hopping after lunch but enjoyed our meal so much that we moved to the bar and got 2 more bottles of wine. Brian the bartender was very personable and makes some amazing espresso as well as cocktails. 10/10 highly recommended, if I lived in nyc I would dine here almost everyday. Cheers
Absolutely impeccable. The food was incredible from appetizer to dessert. The beef shoulder was insane. The pasta was delicious. The wine was great and the service was unmatched. First time dining and it was a great experience will DEFINITELY be coming again.
Always request Robert as your server!!! They were absolutely phenomenal! They made my husband and I’s anniversary evening memorable. We had an incredible meal- focaccia and fried chicken app, chicken entree with the pappardelle with lamb ragu special. My husband and I were absolutely speechless with each bite. Great ambiance too. Highly recommend for a fun date night or if you want to have a divine dining experience with Robert. Get that dude a raise !!!!
One of the best Cacio e Pepes I've had in NYC! The Carne Crudo was also very tasty! There was a special happy hour event going on during our visit on house Negronis for $10 per glass. Had so much fun dining here and will definitely be returning!
Incredible food. I’d recommend the chicken bites as an appetizer. Swanky vibe with hip hop played in the background (contrary to the name of the restaurant based on a Jazz player). Great spot for friends, family or a date night. The wine list here is also exceptionally good.
I've lived in New York for a number of years and this place has been recommended to me hundreds of times. Last week I finally got to taste what all the hype was about. I had the razor clams as an appetizer and the octopus ragu as my entrée. Both items were excellent! The clams were the highlight of my meal, the natural freshness of the mollusks mixed with the spice of the chilies excited every bud on my pallet. The ragu was fabulous as well, I cant wait to come back and try more items especially the farro salad.
I have always like this restaurant since the menu is interesting and excellent, the space and vibe are outstanding and the wine program is top notch. I recently went again and had a great experience. The no corkage fee Tuesday policy is a huge incentive too.
So good! Great service, the servers were always checking in with us and the amptmosphere was so amazing and definitely recommend the farro salad!
Charlie Bird is a stylish and welcoming spot in SoHo with a lively atmosphere and sleek decor. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between casual and refined, making it great for anything from a relaxed lunch to a more special evening. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations. The wine list is impressive, and the menu has a modern Italian-American flair. A great place to enjoy good food, music, and people-watching in one of New York’s trendiest neighborhoods.
BRUNCH ON A SUNNY SATURDAY AFTERNOON was an excellent moment to visit the normally hopping Charlie Bird, a grand place for stylish pasta and small dishes punching way over weight in terms of flavor and mouth feel. The room is casual but fitted out with a display of old-school broadcast microphones and leather dining chairs that encourage lingering over an espresso.
I like this 💕 Charlie Bird a lot. Yesterday, with perfect 🌞 NY April-May weather before the evening rain storm .… we started with 🥂Chardonnay, ☕️, razor clams, hamachi and foccacio. For main dishes, we had scallops and roast chicken…. So …very …delicious. This Chardonnay is perfect. I enjoyed it very much. Will you bring back the big umbrellas ☂️ one day this summer?
The fried tuscan chicken is really nice and crispy with rosemary. Not greasy and very crunchy. The cocktail something not boring was absolutely amazing, very well balanced, pineapple, smokey, mildly spicy cocktail with mezcal. The ipa shown from Brooklyn was fantastic, citrus flavor without being too hoppy. Overall, a great experience.
A beautiful place. If you were looking for a good date-night place, look no more! The interior is stylish, bar looks great as well as the dining area. We shared a few dishes. This place has a small menu, but everything on it is delicious. Be sure to try oysters, steak, smoked pasta and ferro salad. Also, you can't go wrong with the olive oil ice-cream for the desert. They have a great variety of wines, and just let the staff know what's your preference- you will get the good recommendation. This will be my go-to place if I need to impress someone in New York. Compliments to the chef!
Went here after a recommendation, although the menu is limited, the food is really good, cooked to perfection and absolutely tasty. It’s really hype and probably not a family friendly place, so go there with your buddies. We walked in and waited 5min which was perfect. Would totally recommend.
Went for brunch on a Sunday and it was not too busy - service was lovely and food was excellent. Music is great too. Nice vibes. We ordered the Gem Lettuce Salad, Octopus, Carrots, Chicken Liver, Crab Spaghetti and Crispy Bass - all delightful. Also really enjoyed the Vodka Basil cocktail!!
Gabi is a super star and made our dinner superb. The chef and food is still very much on their A game here. A true gem of a restaurant at all around.
Focaccia delicious. Pasta yum. Service great. Make sure you take the complimentary car ride at check out!
The meal was superb! Great atmosphere. The staff does not miss a beat. Some of my favorites today were the Sicilian cauliflower and the brussel sprouts. Of course the raw bar was fantastic too from the razor clams to the scallops and hamachi. For me the stars of the show were the trout belly, the pasta with truffles and the absolutely succulent pork shoulder.
This place is so cool! From the hip menu to the wine list to the amazing food! Love love love everything! We came across this place looking for the best Cacio e pepe in the city. Here’s everything we ordered: - focaccia: scrumptious is the word I would describe it. - farro salad - as much as I hate to say it, the salad was the highlight of my meal. I cannot recommend it enough. From the freshness to flavors to everything! Get 1 for yourself and don’t share! - cacio e Pepe - we came for the star and it did not disappoint. I especially liked the red pepper (Aleppo?) topped on top of the pasta which was a unique touch to a classic. Definitely amongst the top 5 in the city!
Charlie Bird was our last restaurant out before lockdown. We flew home the next day to SF and history knows the rest. Every day, we kept thinking about that glorious meal, and the amazing, attentive staff. 3+ years later, we live in Europe now and have a kid. Coming back, we were delighted to find the same stellar food, from the hamachi to the tortellini to the chicken to the scallops to the steak, the same exceptional wine list, and, of course, the same darling, talented staff. We are so ecstatic that this brilliant restaurant survived and retains that perfect panache. We promise not to wait three years to come back. (And before I forget: really family friendly and accommodating…thank you!)
Exceptional service, great wine list, quite unique and at times intriguing flavours, combining American and Italian. We have tried it yesterday and was the best culinary experience of our whole NY trip!
The food was very tasty and the oysters are great. The chicken bites are perfect and it has a great sauce pairing. The highlight of the show is the espresso martini! Top two espresso martini that I ever had in over a 6 countries. WOW!
Went here for a girls dinner and had a phenomenal experience. Our server Charlotte was attentive and gave wonderful recommendations. Eric, our sommelier gave us the perfect wine to go with our meal we had 2 of them. The food itself was very fresh and great for sharing. Cute little place in West Village, highly recommend!
The food of course was extraordinary, but what really set the experience apart was Hectors service. From his recommendations, to his kindness, humor, and depth of knowledge of each dish, beverage, wine, and liquor, Hector truly made this one of the top food and restaurant memories in my lifetime. The chicken was amazing, the pasta perfect, the fish and oysters so light and bright and balanced, and each cocktail was delicious. Go to Charlie Bird and owners, give Hector a raise. 🙌🏻
My first time at Charlie Bird. Seems to be a popular place; there was a full house. Service was very good. The wine steward was very knowledgeable. Table spacing is very tight, hence the 4stars on atmosphere. I ordered scallops for my main course which was very good (all 3 of them). There is a section on the menu under "large plates" which normally implies can be shared, but in this case it means your will be be served on an actual large plate; portions are small.
It’s actually 4.5 stars but that’s not an option. Had dinner here recently and enjoyed my meal. The food is pretty good, I had the gnocchi & the flank steak and they were fine. If you’re looking for dynamite pastas, this is not don angie or da toscano, but still enjoyable food. However I think people are coming here for the scene and service, and in that regard, Charlie Bird excels. The crowd is attractive, well dressed & looking forward a good time & the soundtrack supports that. (It was all hip hop the night I visited) The service was very good & knowledgeable about the food or wine. I’m totally looking forward to coming back with a group to try more dishes & for a fun evening.
We had a really delicious 3rd wedding anniversary dinner here. The staff were really helpful when it come the menu and wine list. I found the prices very reasonable too. The desserts were a let down (only two dull options). I would recommend this as a great date spot or for a gathering with friends.
cool casual space that’s been around for some time. the wine list is exceptional, the food, not exceptional
Had dinner with friends at Charlie Bird last Friday. The food overall was quite good. Standouts included the Tuna appetizer, the Cacio e Pepe, and the beef shoulder. The chocolate gelato was also a scene stealer. My entree, the cavatelli Nero, was good but the cavatelli was slightly too Al dente for me. The reasons I am giving four stars are that there were a few items that were slightly underwhelming (the focaccia was dry and the panna cotta was just not good), and the music was a vibe destroyer for me. The music was far too loud and the genre of music made absolutely no sense for an Italian restaurant, sorry.
Wonderful oysters and pasta dishes. The pasta is a great al dente and the oysters are really fresh. We stopped by for a quick lunch and had a great Cavatelli and Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe. The sauce was flavourful and was great with the pastas. The ragu in the Cavatelli was also tender and spiced well.
Layout/atmosphere *Bar area (ten seats); two levels of tables; definitely a place to be seen; tables on sidewalk; enclosed outdoor dining structure in street Service *Good Food/drink *Razor clams (salted chile, lemon & fennel) - good; interesting presentation; spicy *Roasted Farm Chicken (fave beans, crispy bits) - Good; juicy; flavorful; not a fan of the chicken liver mousse *Monza (vodka-based cocktail) - good; a boozy creamsicle taste
The restaurant was lively yet very classy. There was a background tune of (likely) 90’s hip hop which played to the small Run-DMC details. A unique and fun mix of the American/Italian cuisine. The service was great and the manager was very welcoming. We’ll be back in the summer for their outdoor seating. Starters: -The complimentary focaccia was fantastic. I wish they sold it by the tray! -Beet salad was great and dressing was flavorful. -Fork & knife salad was fairly standard in my opinion. Others at our table enjoyed it. -Fried Chicken was fried nicely and the dipping sauce was top-tier for those who like a spicy & tangy sidekick. Pastas & Mains: -Tagliatelle was very tasty. The noodle was thin and almost melted in your mouth. Not al dente but it didn’t need to be. -Tortellini was a bit bland but the selection of veg was well paired -Rigatoni was good, especially the chunks of guanciale. Many restaurants make the guanciale tiny but I like how most of it was almost sugar cube sized -Pork chop was the STAR of the show. Perfectly cooked, seared, and paired with the collard greens/figs. Sides: -Broccoli rabe was disappointing and bitter.
Fun lively restaurant with excellent food, highly recommend the beef tartare served with fried squash blossoms, the pork chop and the roast chicken! Normally don’t love large proteins the most, but they were amazing. The pastas (gnocchi and cavatelli) were ok, and the crudos were small but very nice. Would go back, love the fun r&b/hip hop soundtrack.
This place is cute and pretty spacious, great for larger groups. Their Monday burger and martini special for $30 is a steal! Separately, martinis are $15 and burgers are $20 on Mondays. I had the 50/50 martini and it was delicious. We also had sides of broccoli rabe and cauliflower. The food was good, but not exceptional.
The atmosphere and the service here are really great. It is lively and fun. Our group had the private room in the back, which was so lovely and next to its own bathroom. We agreed that the fried chicken, Hamchi, rigatoni cacio de pepe pasta, and Gelato were the crowd favorites (prederred over the mains). Enjoy!
Charlie Bird is very much a presentation first establishment in my eyes. It's not bad by any means, but I am pretty disappointed especially since the food looks better than it actually tastes (not bad, just very average). Razor clams: Tangy, slightly savory, but you should prob pass on it at $7/pp. Burrata Crostini: it looks amazing, but there was no flavor. I literally only tasted the crostini. Farro Salad: Nice composition of flavors, but it doesn't really stand out. Tuscan Fried Chicken: Fairly flavorful and juicy, the best of the appetizers. But honestly, you are much better off going to a restaurant dedicated to fried chicken. French Fries: Actually really good, crispy and salty. If I ever came back, I would always order these with my meal. Chicken Milanese: ....the little side salad and the jam was the best part. The crust is the milanese is crispy and salted well, the chicken itself is cooked well..... But the chicken itself was not seasoned. The portions were okay overall. I'm not a picky eater by any means, but I was pretty disappointed overall with this meal. Maybe I was there the wrong day, but I left fairly disappointed. Although I rated it a 4 overall by NY standards, I would personally consider the food a 3/5 as I doubt I would ever return myself.
Fun lively restaurant with a varied menu. Food was all good but there were highs snd lows. All portions are on the smaller side so its easy to try a variety of the menu offerings. Farro salad was delicious. The pop of mint sets it apart from other salads. Prosciutto was cut paper thin and it was one of the best bites we had. Carrots were very pretty and very tasty but served cold which I think was intentional. Would have preferred warm. Cauliflower was good but the char was on the verge of burnt. Artichoke was a little disappointing. It was a little bland. Gnocci and spaghetti were very good. Pasta cooked and seasoned well. Loved the sauces on each. Overall good food and fun atmosphere but nothing that I would say I have to return for.
We had brunch reservations for indoor dining, but due to the beautiful weather day of, we decided to dine outside in their gorgeous outdoor seating area. Not that it makes a difference to us, but it was a bit of a surprise when they still required to see our vaccination cards to dine outside! The menu for brunch is quite simple and short. It would have been nice to be offered a few for brunch style dishes besides just a frittata and whole grain pancakes. We started off with the oysters and burrata, and both ended up ordering pasta as our main. The oysters were delicious! The vinaigrette that it comes with was really good too. The local burrata was so creamy and perfect! Great pairing with the squash and toasted bread. As for pasta, we ordered the bolognese and the carbonara. The bolognese was a bit light and lacked a little flavor in my opinion, but the carbonara was absolutely delicious! I could have ate another plate of that! I would have loved to order a side of the Tuscan fried chicken, but $21 seemed a bit too steep for a “side” so we decided not to go with that option. Overall satisfied and would love to come back and try dinner one day in the future :)
Adorable outdoor seating with floral design. Was busy during lunch time on Sunday, but we were lucky to get seated within 5 minutes. Menu is not big, but food was good. Service was a little slow, probably because it was very busy at that time. Be ready to be charged 10% Covid-19 recovery. Overall good experience
Came for my birthday with my husband and overall one of the best meals I’ve had in the city. I took off one star because both of the pastas we had came out served cold to lukewarm which was disappointing. Drinks: great selection of wines so we shared a bottle. I also tried the vodka basil cocktail that’s on the brunch menu and was very good. Food: Bay scallop from the raw bar (strong fish flavor) and baked clams were both great. Pasta we did the special with truffle and mushrooms as well as the pappardelle with beef short rib ragu - again the flavors were great but temperature that it was served at was disappointing. Lamb was phenomenal. Dessert was molten lava cake and olive oil gelato - a must have!
Quick brunch with my friends to tried out this place, it was pretty quiet but the food was nothing spectacular. We got the salad with quinoa and barely any greens inside but few mint leaves. Also we shared the pasta, it was pretty small for that kind of price and it was too salty for me. The host, his pretty nice and polite but the other server were in so much rush to go back to his station while I’m not finish ordering, same thing happened with my friend as well😅 overall it was meh for us, hopefully the portions got better and the server, he could relax a little and be more attentive.
The service here was great, we loved our beverages, the ambiance is nice. The covered area outdoors had beautiful floral detail, but unfortunately our reservation didn't get us a seat there. Only complaint is it wasn't as outstanding food-wise as we had expected. Maybe it's what we ordered, but for the hype and price we felt they were simpler dishes we could get for less elsewhere for just as good or better (we got gnocchi, steak).
Everything here was just okay. The main problem I have with this place is the pricing vs quality. The value of each dish seemed low and the quality of the dishes were all average. There was nothing here that you could order or that were tried seemed like it was worth the fairly high prices.
Food’s good but a bit hit or miss with the preparation. I got the farro salad which was amazing, but my friend got the rigatoni pasta and it was undercooked. The brussels sprouts are incredible but the fries were a little cold. All in all, it was good, but was it great? For that price?
Food was great but the pasta portions were quite small and the courses came out far too quickly. The main dishes were brought out before we even had finished the appetizers. The cacio e Pepe pasta was great and I would definitely go back for that but overall it was pretty expensive for the level of service and portions.
Solid 3. Started off on the wrong foot when they pour a “glass” of wine that lasts about three sips (see picture). Roasted scallops were too spicy to the point where you can’t enjoy the rest of the food. Vegetables were fresh and served in unique dressings. Cavatelli was eh - had way better. Wouldn’t return.
I really liked the decor here. The service was pretty good too. The food was average, the cocktails were nice. The focaccia was the only real highlight, it was beautifully fluffy and flavourful.
I had been looking forward to dining here for quite some time. Service was great, as well as the ambience. Perhaps the kitchen was off this evening: slow pacing (we had an early reservation), food was lukewarm, and [unfortunately] the fava beans were not shucked. However, I would like to give it another try.
Service and ambience was incredible from start to finish! Team made the evening enjoyable and well attended though it was full house. Food however is not memorable. Probably the fried chicken and lobster pasta were the best however clam didn’t stand out. Fries not recommended. Good prices for an evening out though!
I’ve been a fan for many years. We hadn’t been since the pandemic and the food was just not on par last night. The service was great and we were seated right away. However food wise, the pricing for the portions was laughable. The chocolate dessert was the size of a quarter, I almost laughed out loud. The duck ragout was gray and gross. The chicory salad was so bitter it was almost inedible. And the gnocchi wasn’t gnocchi, it was tiny pieces of pasta in a very bland tomato sauce with no seasoning. $150 bucks later, I won’t be returning. There are too many good restaurants in NYC for that to be acceptable. What happened to the restaurant of a few years ago?
I used to love dining here. Saturday was a really bad night. What’s worse is spending the whole night sick after. The shrimp and chicken were very undercooked. The staff comped the bill which we appreciated. The cauliflower, fries, pastas were really underwhelming. Drinks were good. Service lovely.
I ordered delivery through Caviar, and was so incredibly disappointed in my experience. The Roasted Chicken showed up with no flavor, no liver on the side (even though the menu said it was included) and overall subpar. Honestly this small plate seemed like it was made in a bulk batch and meant for a mealpass meal or something. Can’t even emphasize how disheartening it was to see this from I place I used to love.
I’ve been coming here for years, but today was really disappointing. Ordered the Tuscan fried chicken and a salad—both were a letdown. The chicken was barely 1/3 of the portion it used to be (if that) but still the same price. The salad was so over-salted it was hard to eat. The staff was friendly as always, but they were clearly understaffed, which made the experience even worse. Sad to see the quality and portions decline like this.
Extremely limited menu, with no substitutions. Cool vibe and atmosphere but food is disappointing. Silly ingredients thrown into mediocre dishes. Chicken was objectively under cooked and needed to be sent back.
Poor experience. The theme here is that they give less food and drink than you would expect. We came with a group of 4, ordered appetizers and mains, and everyone left to get an actual dinner afterwards. The food was fine, albeit overpriced for the portions. I do not recommend coming here.
Nice place but all the food came in cold. The waiter was really nice. Careful with the bubbly choices though! Ordered a $17 bubbly but they ended up charging $28 !!! Good vibe though!
Atmosphere is nice but the food is below average and the service is some of the worst I’ve ever seen. If you go here, they will seat you 30-45 minutes after your reservation time, your food will also be very late, and you won’t even be given an apology. Strongly recommend against, there are 1000000 better options in NYC :)
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. After dining here, I noticed that my credit card was charged more than the amount I signed for on the bill. This is not just careless—it’s dishonest. I gave the staff the benefit of the doubt, but unauthorized charges are serious and reflect very poorly on the integrity of the business. I reached out hoping it was an honest mistake, but the restaurant has not refunded the extra amount charged. If you choose to eat here, double-check your bill and your card statement. I won’t be returning, and I suggest others be cautious as well.
Atmosphere was terrific. Service was fine, what you expect. But I’ve had far better meals at humble establishments around the world for a small fraction of the price. Steak was suggested as a large plate to share but was hardly 3 bites. Broccoli Rabe was so bitter all four found it nearly inedible. Gnocchi and faro salad were both excellent, but for the price point I expect better across the board.
