Besides the magnificent scenery from here, the refuge is no less so. They offer a variety of dishes at reasonable prices, and despite the crowds, they manage to cater admirably. We had delicious cansoncelli (pastas) but with too much butter, and delicious pizzoccheri. The dessert is also worth trying!

Fantastic! These people truly give meaning to the word refuge. I went up the mountain and the refuge was closed, and since I had used the benches to consume the things I had brought, I asked if there was the possibility of a coffee even though it was closed. Not only were they kind enough to make it for me, but since they couldn't give me the change, they kindly offered it along with a friendly chat. These are the refuges I like, made up of real people... Always keep in mind that for us, they are 1-2 people, but for them, we are a thousand. My compliments.

A solo autumn hike with my wife, starting from the Piazzatorre North parking lot. Given the persistent rain of the past few days, we decide to ascend the forest road, which is mostly well-paved with concrete. The road isn't very long; the first section is steep, but it's easily done in about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Once we reach the Gremei Refuge, we basked in the sun to cool off from the 5°C temperatures. Before returning to the valley, I decide to stop in for a coffee. While it's being prepared, since I'm celiac, I ask about the possibility of having a gluten-free lunch, even a simple polenta... Just to warm up a bit. The owner immediately shouts, "Of course! I also have a daughter with celiac disease. I can provide you with cold cuts, cheeses, plain and taragna polenta, porcini mushrooms, grilled branzi, salami, venison, which we thicken with simple cornstarch, and more..." With that, I decide, despite the unplanned departure, to stay for lunch so as to honor the staff's commitment. We begin lunch with a nice platter of cured meats and cheeses accompanied by gluten-free breadsticks, all very good and not mediocre. We also order polenta with porcini mushrooms, a dish of excellent quality and abundance. I'm a porcini forager, and I can confirm that they were clearly local, flavorful, and nice and crunchy, just how I like them. We wash it all down with a nice white wine from the bottle, followed by an excellent coffee. We're also apologized for the lack of a gluten-free dessert... I'm not a glutton anyway :) At the register, we compliment them on the food, but especially on their commitment to serving celiacs and lactose intolerant people. The owner reciprocates our thanks and introduces herself as Simona. Simona, we'll definitely see you at the first opportunity, and I hope you'll remember us. Thank you for everything, Marco and Chiara.

Spacious and welcoming. In addition to the indoor seating, it has plenty of outdoor seating and is equipped with numerous games for children. It can be reached by chairlift or after a walk with an altitude difference of about 450 meters (wide path, no dangerous or exposed sections. The first stretch is characterized by very steep climbs, then it becomes gentler).

We hiked up on a sunny Monday, with the refuge and lifts open. In an hour, up a steep road from the lifts in Piazzatorre, we reach the refuge, welcoming and with an extraordinary panoramic view. In just under an hour, we also climbed to the former Torcole refuge, where the view is 360°. We had an outdoor lunch on the way back at Gremei, with a wide selection of dishes, all delicious. Highly recommended!!!

On Saturday, we had lunch at the refuge after a nice climb from Piazzatorre with a trio of dishes: polenta and mushrooms, casoncelli bergamaschi, and grilled branzi. Delicious!!! Truly a beautiful refuge! Dogs welcome 😊

A beautiful refuge with a stunning view of the Brembana Valley. You can reach it by cable car (open on weekends) or by two paths, one of which is accessible by car with a permit. If you go up in winter, bring crampons because the shaded areas are icy. The food at the refuge is excellent, and the value for money is truly excellent. Top chef and very friendly staff. We'll definitely be back.

Refuge at 1,600 m below Mount Torcola, served by a ski lift from the Piazzatorre Ice Rink. Alternatively, a 500 m elevation gain in less than an hour can be achieved by road or trail. Large play area, panoramic terrace overlooking the former Torcola Soliva refuge. Plenty of indoor seating available. Beautiful decor, excellent food, and super friendly service. A critical situation occurs on busy holidays. Very popular even in winter due to the very gentle ski slopes.

Beautiful and welcoming. Typical cuisine and generous portions, with a slightly inattentive but friendly service. Very good prices for the quality and quantity. Outside, there's a large relaxation area for adults and a playground for children. The view is picture-perfect.

A well-located refuge in enchanting scenery. It's a shame that once again the environment is being exploited for excessive profit. The food is average, nothing special... even with dishes priced like a 4-star hotel. You can't charge 18 euros for four bites of meat with taragna that tastes like very little cheese. It's fine for tourists, but certainly not for local Bergamo residents who know the dish. Furthermore, it's not the first time I've had the cashier add a few euros to the total bill, either because they didn't order coffee or because the prices were higher than those displayed on the blackboards in the dining room. The first time, I thought it was a mistake and didn't say anything, but when it happened again, I pointed it out. Small oversights that put off those who would like to return. Special mention to the staff at the dining room: they're quick, kind, and helpful.

Despite the internet saying the refuge was open, when we reached the top after a fairly steep hike, it was closed—a rather unpleasant surprise, to say the least. We're disappointed we weren't able to have lunch here given the fantastic reviews of the food, but after a two-hour drive and an hour's hike in the cold, we won't be returning, not even on principle. Please update your opening hours, and since it's 2025, not 1800, you could enable automatic email replies so that if someone (like us) emails you to make a reservation, they'll automatically receive a notification that the refuge is closed, saving themselves a trip and unnecessary effort.
