This place is the best barbacoa joint I have been to in GDL. They serve typical Hidalgo style barbacoa tacos loaded with meat. The piping hot consome is a must have as well. Tacos are 30 pesos each, as of Oct 2020. I keep going there every month.

My go to spot first breakfast because it is also in walking distance from where I live. The people work here are nice and patient with my broken Spanish on ordering my tacos. The Tacos here are great and the price is reasonable for breakfast.
Amazing texture, flavor, and authenticity. I was recommended to come here for an afternoon bite by a good friend who was right about this place. The staffs are friendly and welcoming while the Barbacoa is something to crave for once leaving Guadalajara. This is one of the hole-in-the-wall spot you may want to check out while in town.

Gamboa sells Hidalgo style lamb that is wrapped in agave leaves and cooked in an underground pit. They have great cuts of meat and even some exotics like blood sausage. Make sure to get a a bowl of consume. The atmosphere is humble but you are here for the food, not for furniture.

This place open early in the morning and close late afternoon or sometimes noon . Food is good . Soup must try. Lamb is delicious.
