Best restaurant in Sycuan hands down. The dining area is very beautiful. Also, the waitress was very attentive, kind, and willing to be of assistance. Finally, the food was fantastic. We had the Wednesday lobster and steak special. This plus the sides of mashed potatoes and Mac&cheese was the best. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.
Ordered the Surf and turf 6oz steak with a 3oz lobster tail Corn bread with jalepanos, the only flavor in it was from the peppers. Fortunately the corn bread texture was pleasant but that was about it. The pretzel roll was spot on soft pretzel, only thing missing was the rock salt. The steak melted as I chewd. The flavor was simple and lightly seasoned. Nothing wrong with the lobster just a little lack luster after the steak (it used to be servant food).
Nicest restaurant at Sycuan. Upscale Steakhouse also serving fish and smaller meals or: burger, sandwiches. Full and nice bar area with live music on Saturday. Make a reservation as they fill up quickly. Helpful staff. Waygu beef. Big sides - enough to share for the table. Fresh fish.
The food was amaziiiiiing, by far the very best I have had in a long very long time the steak was cooked perfectly all the side dishes we had were soooo delicious macaroni and cheese sauté mushrooms and asparagus all cooked perfectly and sides are great you can almost share the sides they are pretty big portions and extremely tasty! I love to eat and I am a very picky person when it comes to food. Service was good, and we got our food extremely fast even though it was a Saturday night! Live music is a plus!!!! I really liked this place. The whole casino in itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere is very nice it was my first time there, and I really enjoyed atmosphere, delicious food, and good service! It's a great place. I am a barber and talk to a ton of people all day and definitely bragged about how great your food was all weekend at work! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great looking steakhouse. Our server was Sam. Aside from outstanding service, he was very attentive and knowledgeable about the different steaks. It was a Wednesday, and they had a surf and turf deal (steak and lobster - $55). I went with the surf and turf, and my fiancé went with the Delmonico Ribeye. We had our steaks medium rare and they came out great. The Delmonico was amazingly delicious. My steak could use a bit more seasoning, but overall it was good. I will definitely come back soon and try the other steaks.
Went here for birthday dinner. Was very happy with the choice. Was a little leery given some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone in my party was happy and all had good things to say after. The food was great. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender and all the sides were delicious as well. Servers were very nice and attentive. Cocktails were delicious, and was a really nice atmosphere. Overall a great experience and will be back sometime.
I’ve been here several times and every time it’s always been a fabulous experience!! This last time we had Lukas as our waiter and he was EXCEPTIONAL! He was extremely attentive and explained everything very well. Efram was always EXCELLENT TOO! Our dishes were always cleared and water was refilled without asking. Onto the food: their wedge salad and French onion soup is a must! We ordered the $29 filet and lobster special on Wednesday and it was the perfect size . The lobster wasn’t over cooked and the filet was a perfect medium rare. We also got the T bone. It’s a great value for $48 and definitely could serve 2 people. It was presented so beautifully and also cooked perfectly. Don’t skip on their NY cheesecake which is actually flown in from Brooklyn.
Had reservations hence no wait. Try the Open Table app. Surf and Turf was very good. The desert had to be taken home. The Potato soup with Bacon was full of flavor. Our staff person was Daniel and the back waitress was Perla. Daniel was very knowledgeable and had great suggestions. We ordered what he suggested and everything was fine. Perla kept the drinks filled and was also very helpful. We will definitely try to be here monthly on Wednesday nights. I hope to continue to update this review.
My friend took me here for their $55 Surf& Turf special that is available on Wed and Thurs nights. It was a three course meal for $55. First course was a choice of soup or salad. The main course was with a small steak, large lobster tail, mashed potatoes, and grilled carrots. The third course was a delicious chocolate cake. They opened at 5pm and there were people already in line at that time. We sat at the bar this time so no reservations were needed. The two bartenders were busy making drinks non-stop the whole two hours we were there. Service was great and we were entertained at the same time. Will definitely come back again and sit at the bar.
This experience was indeed one of the best we've had thus far! From easily Getting a reservation on the open table app to finding the restaurant and immediately being seated, everything flowed perfectly! We were seated at what seemed to be a VIP table(round table for 6 yet there were only 2 of us🤣) with a beautiful window view of the pool and mountains! We had seen an advertisement about a Sunday surf and turf special which was what led us to this place. Our server was Daniel and the back waiter was Perla. They were excellent! Perla even brought us an extra serving of the complementary Honey and cranberry butter bread. An extra serving of bread can make all the difference! It is delicious. The bread alone is reason enough to stop by but we didn't stop there. We ordered the surf and turf special, baked potato soup, a twice baked potato and the wedge salad. We just had to try a little bit of everything! It all was made to perfection, especially the steak. Cooked medium, rare and seasoned just right. The goddess dressing on the salad is amazing. We tried a Paloma cocktail recommended by Daniel and also had the chocolate layered cake for dessert which is included with the surf and turf order. They not only cleared our table but also cleaned it after each course! The service was extraordinary! Great dining experience! Well worth the money!
Upon arrival, we were greeted by wonderful and friendly ladies and were immediately seated in the area I specifically requested. This wasn't my first time here, but I can confidently say it was the best visit yet. The restaurant is absolutely immaculate, clean, and has such a relaxing atmosphere—it's beautiful! Every staff member was attentive and friendly. Our server, Daniel J., was superb! He was incredibly attentive, made sure our drinks were always filled, and cleaned the table between courses. He made us feel right at home, almost as if we were having Christmas dinner in our own home. We are "well done" steak people, and he didn’t judge us for that. Lol. The service from Daniel was top-notch! The food was absolutely delicious and on point. We had shrimp wrapped in bacon, onion soup, wedge salad, ribeye, filet mignon, carrots, twice-baked potato, and banana foster. OMG, everything was fantastic! The meat was cooked to perfection, and even though we asked for well done, it was incredibly tender. The filet mignon was like butter! Compliments to the chef for that evening—everything was to die for! The banana foster was the best I've ever had; it wasn't overly sweet. We opted to skip the tableside show for the banana foster because it was Christmas and the restaurant was getting busy, but next time we will definitely do the show! I was just so impressed with everything! If I could give 10 stars, I absolutely would, and I don’t hand out stars lightly. Thank you for making our Christmas a wonderful experience! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by the bar lined with an impressive bourbon selection. I was promptly welcomed by the lovely hostess, checked in, and seated right away. A reservation is definitely recommended. Once seated, Emily—my server and also one of the bartenders—came over to take my drink order. She immediately noticed I had an outdated half-price bourbon list, brought me an updated one, and suggested High West Campfire. Great choice. Her knowledge of bourbon is extensive, which is impressive, especially for California. John soon brought out a warm loaf of bread with incredible house-made butter infused with honey and orange. He came by several times throughout my meal, refilling water and checking on me as well as other guests, providing outstanding service. I ordered the prime rib, and while waiting I had a perfect view of Chef Gem carefully inspecting each plate before it left the kitchen—his attention to detail ensured everything was beautifully presented. When my meal arrived, Emily checked in right away to make sure everything was to my liking. The prime rib was cooked to perfection—absolutely delicious. Although I was stuffed, John brought me the dessert menu. I couldn’t resist ordering the chocolate cake to go. WOW—amazing. Overall, Bourbon & Bull has been the best dining experience I’ve had during my three weeks in San Diego. The service, food, and atmosphere were all top-notch. I highly recommend making a reservation and asking for Emily—she’s a true superstar. Before I left, Jared the manager even stopped by to ensure everything met my expectations. I told them they went above and beyond. Thank you!
We had our 29th Anniversary here. They did not disappoint in any aspect. They asked us if we were celebrating something special, and when they found out, the server and several other workers signed a card congratulating us. Can I just say that the Filet mignon was the most tender and perfectly cooked steak I have ever eaten. The Mac and cheese was a meal in itself! Additionally, the bartender makes an unmatched Old Fashioned which perfectly paired with the filet. Highly recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, service and quality of food and drinks. A must try!
Service and food were both excellent
Hands down, the best filet mignon I have ever had. Server was sweet and very attentive. The restaurant is lovely, all the way around.
Very nice fine dining. Steaks were cooked a little more than expected. So, next time I'd order medium rare in lieu of medium.
Nice steakhouse within Sycuan. You have to try an old fashion if you are going to get a drink.
Great Steak! Great Rye Old-fashioned, which is easy to make, hard to make right. Quick service. Prices high.
Nice place. Great food. Steak fries weren't the best.. pretty much a full potatoe. Other then that great food and service.
I would highly recommend this place i had the surf and turf was excellent hector my waiter the staff did a great job I'LL BE BACK.
Samuel was AMAZING! Great atmosphere, excellent food and superior service. Samuel's recommendations were absolutely spot on. Great service!
Go see Emily at the bar, great drinks and better service, makes every meal or even just a quick drink enjoyable. A
This was one of the best steakhouses in San Diego! The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I recently took my wife here for our anniversary and I could not have been more pleased with the experience. I got the porterhouse that was cooked to perfection along with my wife's fillet. We had the garlic mash potatoes and the mac n cheese were a delicious!
Another great night and Bull & Bourbon with good company! Thoughtful and gracious service from Adina, who went out of her way to ensure a happy birthday experience for my friend. Friend got the Surf & Turf special and I enjoyed the always amazing twice-baked potato, and French onion soup. The soup is a meal unto itself, and I was told that its a new recipe with Bourbon! There was a subtle beef flavor-- absolutely delicious. Can't wait to come back for their craft cocktails. For special occasions or a "treat yourself" night of epicurean delights and excellent service, you can't go wrong with Bull & Bourbon.
We had a great experience today with our delicious food and cozy ambiance. Also, a special (thank you) to our waiter Isaiah, for being friendly, quick, and prompt. We will definitely come back when we’re in the town again.
Its was great started off with pear ginger moles at the bar. Then graduated to our table and got a hibiki Japanese old fashioned. Very aromatic. Ceaser salad came first my wife and I split. Perfect amount of dressing . For dinner wife had sea bass ,again... she likes it a lot. This was our 4th time here. Me I had aged rib eye which I enjoyed twice, to much with Mexican street corn in bowl to finish. Staff is friendly and I know it's a casino. You have to try
I saw the reviews and I was terrified before going to the restaurant. But once I arrived at the restaurant, everything was perfect. The food perfectly amazing and delicious. The servers were very focused on their work, and the prices were reasonable. This is a elegant restaurant and the food is delightful. The service was the best part. Without doubt I will come back to this restaurant, and I recomend anyone to go. This is one of my favorite restaurants.
An excellent chop house has been added to the latest expansion at Sycuan. Tastefully designed atmosphere with attentive and friendly service. Standouts were the beef carpaccio, lump crab cakes and and Waygu steak. Definitely worth the trip to the casino even if you’re not a gambler like me.
The food here is amazing. Dry aged steaks are phenomenal and I crave the truccle mac and cheese. Even full the Bourbon Bananas Foster kept me coming back for more. Hands down a must try.
No way does this place deserve less than 4 stars. We have been here at least 3 times and it’s always the best meal. Not to mention the vibe is very beautiful and cozy without big crowds.
We went here for their steak & lobster special on Wed & Thursday. The food was delicious and a great value for $55.00 per person.
I’ve been to high end restaurants with beautiful bars around the country. Emily is by far the greatest bartender I’ve ever seen. Watching her work is seeing a maestro in action.
I stopped by Bull & Bourbon one night during my trip to Sycuan for the MSPT stop, and I’m really glad I did. I didn’t go all-in on a steak, but the food I did have was solid—great flavors and clearly made with care. What stood out the most was the bar experience. The bartender that night was top-tier, super friendly, knowledgeable, and kept the energy up without being over the top. It’s rare to find that kind of balance between chill and professional, especially in a casino setting. The whole vibe of the place was just right for unwinding after a long day at the tables. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m at Sycuan, and I’ll probably try the steak too.
I’ve been into this restaurant now a handful of times and the service and food has always been excellent. Most recently, again for the second time we were there to enjoy the prime rib dinners for a 16 ounce that was $19.95! You can’t get a meal like that anywhere I believe in San Diego. Service was fantastic. The atmosphere was great and of course it’s we’ll worth the drive out there.
Last night I celebrated my 65th birthday. I had the surf and turf special. The food and service Were impeccable. The atmosphere was elegant too. Will be back for sure..my birthday was very special and memorable....also enjoyed the live music...
One of the nicest dinners I’ve ever had in the San Diego area. My wife, a coworker and I came to celebrate and the service was outstanding! We ordered the bacon slab to start, two steaks with mushroom and spinach sides, and finished off with the banana foster! I also highly recommend their drink selection, they have a lot of classy options to choose from.
It actually frustrates me that this steakhouse is rated a 3.9!! No way in Hell… look I’ve been to all the nice steakhouses all over San Diego county and I would say this one is super solid all the way from the food to the amazing waiters that work here and managers that are very accommodating.every single thing we had from the mashed potatoes to the asparagus and steak. It’s all super solid. So once I read the rating I had to chime in. Any bad reviews you read I don’t think have anything to do with the food. One of my favorite steak houses in San Diego, way better then Hell’s Kitchen in my opinion
My husband took me here for my 40th birthday and we had a great experience. First of all, the ambiance is beautiful, and our waitress Tomi was fantastic. We also were never short on water. Everyone is very attentive! We had the petite filet, Porterhouse, asparagus, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. All were amazing and cooked to perfection. I need to know what is in that butter that comes with the bread! I could not get enough of it. My only slight complaint was the volume of the music. I must have been sitting below a speaker because the piano would get very loud at certain times. Still a 5-star experience, nonetheless. Highly recommend.
I have dined here 3 times, and each and every time I have received amazing service. The food is delicious, steak perfectly cooked every time. Not only is the steak delicious, the sides and wedge salad are amazing. So much flavor. Highly recommend. Ambiance and decor are very nice.
We had a large party and they were really busy but our server Riley did a great job. Follow up review, we visited again with a large group. Most of our groups lobster was over cooked but my steak was delicious and our server Hector did an amazing job.
My friend and I went for the first time last night and everything was excellent! We only went for the surf and turf special but everything was so good we will definitely be going back. We had April for our waitress and she was wonderful! Always smiling, very attentive and you could tell she really enjoys her job. One other thing that I was impressed with, the bus service. The young men working in that capacity were awesome! They kept your refreshments filled, took empty plates immediately, always checking to see if you needed anything. And always with a smile and so polite! Overall an excellent experience!
John and Daniel were absolutely amazing as we celebrated 25 wonderful years together!!! Food was delicious and portion sizes were huge!!!! Pretty sure they gave us the WHOLE bull!!! Definitely recommend a reservations. There is a reason they are so popular.
This is a beautiful restaurant with a top notch staff. Food is very good, as well as the presentation. More seafood choices would be a nice addition, but the only real drawback, and its a small one, is that its loud. Especially when its busy. Overall, a great experience.
We had an exceptional dinner experience last night, made unforgettable by the outstanding service we received from Daniel. He is, without question, the best server we’ve ever had. From the moment we were seated, Daniel made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. His attentiveness, professionalism, and warm personality elevated the entire evening. This isn’t the first time we’ve had the pleasure of being served by him, and it’s the reason we always request Daniel specifically—he consistently delivers a level of service that is truly above and beyond. His attention to detail and ability to anticipate our needs made the evening seamless and enjoyable. Daniel sets the standard for excellence in hospitality, and we look forward to returning again soon, knowing we’ll be in the best hands.
Great food. The side dishes were better than the main. I had the lobster alfredo which was good. I thought my lobster tail should be bigger. The Mac and cheese and truffle fries were great. This place has good portions too. Overall great experience, 4 items came out to be $100. I didn't like that none of the main courses come with sides and also super small menu.
Surf and turf on wednesdays for $32 is pretty worth it! I got two lobster tails and a petite filet which was pretty tasty! Service is quick and efficient, some small things needed work. The filet I ordered medium rare but it came out closer to medium well. The greens that it came with weren’t dressed so that made it super bland. Other than that, everything was on point. My friend had the vegetarian pasta which was tasty though a bit oily
We had two bone in ribeyes, 2 sides and bananas Foster. Everything was very good and our server, Kaeleigh was excellent!
Nice atmosphere, but them playing music from Roosevelt......Legendary. heard my favorite song while I was there's. Asked myself,... how do they know about this?
The onion soup is a must have. It's the bourbon in it that really sets it off. I didn't eat much because I just wasn't hungry but I tasted a bite (or 10) of their garlic mash potatoes and ooof! So good. The server was nice. One suggestion... I wish they wouldn't spray cleaner on the tables around people eating.
The lobster tail was rubbery and did not taste fresh. It was overdone and it wasn’t served with melted butter either. The t bone steak was tasty and cooked nicely, but worth $80? The crème brûlée was top notch. It may have been the best crème brûlée I have ever had. Leyla our server was very nice, if not as attentive as she could have been, but I counted eight table she was working and a party of 10 was demanding much of her time. She deserved a nice tip. Otherwise a very nice atmosphere and overall good experience. I did learn a lesson as to not order lobster in this steakhouse. But would order the excellent crème brûlée again. It was over two fifty for two people, and this was after we even shared the entree and desert . You could easily spend over$200 a person here.
I did not have high Hope's for bull & bourbon based on the reviews but 20 dollars for a prime rib dinner I had to try it firstly the prime rib was 25 to 30 percent fat the actual prime rib reminded me of a lower quality buffet and the mashed potatoes were very bland the bread and butter were good the butter had like a fruit taste it was good and the bourbon was good and strong the staff was friendly it's a Casino so there's plenty of parking I would have gave it 2 stars but the price was good so I gave it 3 the atmosphere was good really nice looking restaurant
This is a very pretty Steakhouse and of course it is out of nowhere at the casino so if you're staying there I kind of suggest it but the food I've gotten at the restaurants at saquan are far better and for half the price. The tomahawk was really good and the crab cakes were really good there was a good presentation on the other items but I got a really wilted disgusting salad and a filet mignon that was an edible which I can eat any filet mignon so that was shocking
The prime rib was 25% edible and the rest was all fat and ?? who knows. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place.
My wife and one my renters went to the surf and turf wednesday $29 deal. What dissapointment! The lobster was a half lobster, pretty small little guy, it was gone in 2 bites, and the file mignon was delicious, but that is all you get, its al a carte! The melted butter not real butter, some kind of tastless oil, nice try but no cigar. We ended up spending $180 on the 3 of us, mostly on side dishes to make up for the usless lobster.
Surprised to see a high rating, perhaps the restaurant had an off night. Unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. Everything from the wait time, to food being undercooked, steak being too tough, to even the bill being incorrect, it was not a pleasant birthday dinner. We will definitely choose other destinations for future celebrations.
Staff do a great job, that’s why I’m rating 3 stars. Menu is very limited and way overpriced. If your going to charge $200 for a dinning experience for 2, maybe get rid of the $2 charge for a small bread order. Appetizers are a very small portion and super average flavors. Steak is served alone and sides are additional, which is typical at steak houses, however the steaks don’t measure up to other places for the same prices, not cooked to order as well as other steak houses. I’d choose another restaurant at Sycuan and save the money for a better steak house.
I wasn’t impressed. In fact, for these prices our meals should have been much better. The steak was ordered medium and they obviously let the fire get too high abs scorched the outside. A $50+ filet mignon shouldn’t end up like that. The server was very nice (5 ⭐️) and tried to make up for it. The cheesecake was supposedly brought from New York. It had seen better days. They should just go to the Cheesecake Factory and save the trip to New York. The jumbo shrimp were the best thing on our ticket.
Honestly, a bit disappointing. Drinks were good albeit a bit slow, whatever. But the food was lackluster. French onion soup broth was very thick, salad was ok. Dinner was disappointing. The lobster pasta, the lobster was obviously overcooked and tough. I got the 16oz Delmonico with the gorgonzola crust, Delmonico is supposed to be an extra thick cut, and it came out maybe 2cm thick at best and definitely nothing Delmonico about it. Plus it was ORANGE! There may have been some gorgonzola but pretty sure it was mostly cheddar cheese basked on top!? Very disappointing, and definitely not worth the +$200 bill.
I was the only person there. I made a reservation for 930 but there was another one I could've chosen at 945. They turned away a couple at 935. Staff did Not want to be there. They were pleasant but inattentive. Portions were small. Expensive. Had a good cocktail but the rest I could have done without
My husband and I had a reservation at 7:30 for our wedding anniversary, and we were excited to try this place out. The entree didn’t come out until 9:09 and I we were just trying to leave at that point. They didn’t charge me for the pasta plate, but I had to wait another 20-25 min. It was very bad experience and the food & drinks was ok. The waiter was trying his best but I can tell the chef or whoever was in charge of the food was making it very difficult for him to satisfy the customer. We did leave him a decent tip since he tried his best to make us happy.
Very expensive steakhouse, which is okay I will take it for a top of the line steak. I visited this place a couple of years ago and went today, there was a drop in the quality of food. We ordered the tomahawk steak medium stew, which was not very tender and too much fat in it. For the appetizers, we ordered the wedge salad which was a small portion compared to my previous experience. The restaurant is at a great location and very well maintained and decorated though. Also the waiter was a little bit pushy in her way to make us order the food and at the end to pay the bill.
Reservation was 30 minutes later than scheduled. Two times items we ordered were taken to other tables. Filet was raw. Ordered oscar style but brought to table without. Mash potatoes tasted like instant and runny. No spoon with coffee. No bread brought without asking. This was a Friday night! Mexican street corn was great. When you pay approx $200 a dinner for 2 people you should expect better service and a chef that knows what medium rare is. Better quality and value at Carvers! Wont go back.
Due to the restaurant having a large party happening at the same time that we came here to eat, we were not served for TWO hours. They did not bring us anything to hold us over, not even bread, but when we finally asked for some (an hour and a half in), they brought cold, stale bread. Then the food wasn't great. Steaks weren't prepared correctly and the sides were just OK (who can't make mashed potatoes taste good?). We were a party of 7 on different checks and only those that made a stink about the wait got anything comped. The ambience and noise level were good, but we won't be back.
Let me start off by saying I was here with friends to celebrate my Birthday. Friends and Food made the evening, service, not so much! It took much too long to get water served at the table and even longer for each of the courses. Also irritating was we were not served each course at the same time, meaning 2 or 3 of us might be served and the fourth person wasn't served for several minutes later. I noticed this type of service throughout the restaurant as I was sitting against the wall and watching the flow. Service and servers were chaotic, food was returned to the kitchen because orders weren't correct at other tables and like us, the guests at tables were being served at different times. Definitely was not a smooth operation. Also, once a course was served, we became invisible to all for any further requests or drink refills. The food was good, but one of the steaks was requested to be cooked 'medium' and was served medium rare--not acceptable. Overall, fell short of expectations. I've had better service at coffee shops/diners at 1/5th the price. Definitely not recommending to friends and clients at this stage until EVERYTHING is stepped up several notches.
Had the half chicken, and the porter house. Do not get the porter house. It did not taste like a $48 steak. It was also quite tough. Disappointed with the outcome. Chicken was wonderful! Service was superb. Unfortunately, I feel like a steak house should have way more pride in their steaks...
OK, fourth visit to this restaurant. Service was great.....but, about 30 mins after the meal I was hitting the bathroom. I had the filet med rare, shrimp, and a creaser salad. I had not eaten since 8am that morning so I know it wasn't anything but what I had at Bulls. Sorry guys, you need to do a better job keeping things clean.
Came for the first time for the surf and turf and can’t believe they served the lobster uncooked, the think was still moving. So Yuki. We asked to corrected and they took forever. Prefer other casinos for the same deal.
The sides were good, and others were pleased with their food, but I was not happy with my ribeye.
I really hate writing reviews in general but it has to be said, this place needs help, in my honest opinion. We went out hoping for something above the Texas Roadhouse experience and it really fell flat. You hope for something at an elevated level when you pay a good amount more than a place like Roadhouse, but we would have been much happier back there. I have NEVER asked to have food returned or refunded but I was extremely close with this food. I just feel as if its embarrassing for myself and the wait staff which is why I have never done so. We had the $55 special and the lobster was so over done I was in shock. I cannot believe the chef chose to let our food in to the dining room. I have wanted to try the place for a long time and was also a bit worried based on reviews, but the truth is, this place really does need a new kitchen staff (it appears). Our service was just fine...but man the food. Under seasoned all around and that lobster was actually insulting. Somehow it feels disrespectful to have someone in a steak house serve you something that should have been thrown away? I mean, the bulk of the food was OBVIOULSY NOT GOOD...how do you let that go to your guests? You just can't spend nearly the money they are asking for food this poor. It is really a shame they closed down Wachena, I never had a bad experience and the food was always great. Such a bummer to write this, but I would seriously recommend you think twice.
I've eaten here several times now, and it's not always a good experience. During my recent dining here, I ordered a 10oz filet, and ordered it prepared "medium rare." However, when it arrived and I cut into the end for my first bite, I noticed it was over cooked to medium well. I politely spoke with our waiter and pointed this out to him. To my surprise, the waiter picked up my plate, then picked up my fork and moved the steak around on the plate to take a closer look at it. The waiter then replied that he believed it was "medium rare," and suggested that perhaps it was just the dim lighting in the restaurant confusing me. Both me and my date told him it was cooked medium well. The waiter said he would send it back and have a new steak cooked. About 5 minutes later, the waiter returned with the same steak cut in half and said, "the cook cut your steak in half and said it's medium rare." First of all I was appalled that he brought the same steak back, cut in half, and wanted to argue with me. On top of that, who knows who was touching my food that they had cut in half to inspect. When I told him I wanted a new steak, he said he would take it back and get me a new steak. About 5 minutes after that, the manager came over to my table and said he had heard there was a problem with my meal. When I told him my steak was over cooked, the manager said he saw the steak in the kitchen cut in half and he too began arguing with me saying he thought it was "medium rare." It is noted however that even though both the waiter and manager had separately argued with me, both were polite and professional. But, neither should have been arguing with a customer over how their steak was cooked. So again, both me and my date told him it was cooked medium well and not medium rare as ordered, as it had a dark medium gray colored center with just a hint of pink in the center, (about 2mm's worth). The manager then said he would have the kitchen cook me a new steak. However at that point, and fearing I'd get a steak with spit or something worse in it, I decided to cancel my steak order altogether. I feel their current chef, or at least that particular chef that night had no idea of what medium rare looks like, because it was way, WAY over cooked. And if I'm paying $60 just for the meat portion of my meal, that steak should be cooked to order.
So disappointed. We were so looking forward to a great steak and treating ourselves at an expensive place- ordered the porterhouse, and bone in New York, both were SO tough our knives could barely get the job done. Sides of asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Mac and cheese was actually terrible. Bread and butter was amazing! I will dream of that butter. They made me a sangria and it was amazing! Workers were great, and very attentive. They comped the Mac and cheese after we told them we didn't need a to-go box because it was bad.
A very disappointing experience at a this "high end" steak house. I have never written a review but felt this was necessary. It was just two couples with a split bill. We were seated right when opened on a Wednesday. so not very busy . Most food was ok although my New York strip was tough and tasted like it was grilled on a dirty surface. (not sure what quality of steaks they sell). . Noticed other diners with bread and water. We Had to request it as they thought we had already received these.Keeping water in glasses seems to be a challenge ,as we had to request this a number of times ,even though the waiter had a "helper " . After finishing dinner, we Requested a couple of doggie bags. They were returned to the table with the leftovers between couples completely mixed up and one leftover steak was not returned. .Received separate bills with drinks and meals for couples completely mixed up. In summary. Not the experience we expected from a restaurant with premium prices and lackluster service.
Wanted to love this. Was so looking forward to a good steak, unfortunately I'd say subpar steak with inattentive service even though near empty tables. The loudest people in the restaurant were the workers laughing and carrying on gathered by the bar. The waitress didn't return to ask about our meal after the food was given. I would've returned the ribeye (uneven cooking, too much of thr fat rendered out, huge strip of grissel, etc). After waiting much too long, I had to ask the maitre d for salt and just ate it as is. We didn't see the waitress again until it was time to pay. I let her know I would've returned the steak if she had come to ask how things were, and she then offered to take it back, but we were ready to leave. Around 1 hr time for the meal. No wait, near empty restaurant. Dark, fancy, romantic atmosphere. For the food and service, however: 1 star. My wife did like her filet but said she'd never come back. The bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp appetizer was the best thing we ate. I wouldn't come here for the steak again. We had the shrimp appetizer, ribeye, filet, house salad, potato soup, steak fries, and mushrooms for $165.
This restaurant advertised digitally through Sycuan Hotel Casino, its called Bull & Bourbon Steakhouse. The flyer states that there is a 3-course steak and lobster meal for $55 every Wednesday and Thursday. However, when we visited on Thursday, our reservation day, they told us it was no longer available and that we needed to order from the regular menu at a price of $110. I don’t understand why they are still circulating this advertisement if the offer is not available. This is misleading and not right. If they are not serving that promotion, they should remove it from the Sycuan site. Such advertising can be considered deceptive under California law, which emphasizes honest business practices. Below: As of 2026, California has continued to strengthen its regulations against misleading advertisements in restaurants. The key aspects of the new laws include: 4. **Digital and Online Advertising Oversight:** Laws now extend to online menus, mobile apps, and digital advertising platforms, ensuring that all promotional content adheres to truthful marketing standards. 5. **Consumer Rights Protections:** Consumers have greater access to complaint processes and remedies if they believe they've been misled by restaurant advertisements. These laws aim to promote honesty and integrity in food marketing, helping consumers make better-informed decisions. For specific details or legal advice, consulting California's official legislative resources or legal professionals is recommended.
I should have read the reviews before dining here. From the moment we arrived, the host was unwelcoming and appeared completely uninterested. After being seated, we waited nearly minutes before finally flagging someone down for service even though the restaurant was empty, with only one other party. We even had to ask for the complimentary bread, which was then delivered to another table that had just been seated. We ordered the lobster pasta, which arrived cold and completely flavorless. The “ribeye” was clearly low quality and did not match what was advertised on the menu. When we brought this to our server’s attention, he seemed surprised that we even noticed the poor quality. Outside of that, the server did not return to our table to check on us or see if we needed anything. Although there were plenty of staff members working, customer service clearly was not a priority. Even the drinks took an unusually long time because the bartender was more focused on chatting with staff than serving guests. I took a photo of my drink because it was only filled about halfway when served. This experience was absolutely not worth the $200+ we spent. Take the reviews seriously and dine elsewhere. There are far better restaurants in San Diego that offer both quality food and attentive service.
Took an hour for food to be served for a table of 12. Totally ignored by waiter who got an automatic 18% tip so he blew us off. Food was awful. Overcooked, burnt and flavorless.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had at a steakhouse..I was In town for business met up with friends we stumbled across this steakhouse we made reservations for 8pm for a table of 4 we didn’t get seated until 8:30pm the server Samuel was attentive&knowledgeable, but my entree didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered the Wagyu since it was highly recommended subpar at best my steak LACKED seasoning overall. I was expecting JAPANESE WAYGU but that’s not what I received. I’m very disappointed in the level of service provided at the very least the steak and sides should come out at the same time or close to it not so far apart it that you eat them one at a time.. The macaroni & spinach dip were great. However the table tab was over 1000 & for the quality we’ve experienced we wont be returning.
I brought my spouse here for a birthday celebration. First, we waited 20 minutes passed our reservation time to be seated. Once seated we waited at the table for 15 minutes with several servers passing by stating your server will be with you. Once ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our food. I do not recommend spending you money on this restaurant.
I made a reservation on Valentines day for 8pm. Got there and the host said we'll call you up in a minute. 5 minutes later they told us our table won't be ready until an hour. We said that's okay, we'll go hit the tables for while we wait. Next thing the other said our kitchen might be closing when your table is available. I told them just forget it. All I got was we're sorry, our manager will give you a call... Drove out there for nothing.
Food is good. The service was really bad. The manager was aggressive. He canceled my appointment a few hours before I arrive and this restaurant bad not recommended. They better to sell taco instead of steak.
I'm a local here in San Diego and me and my family has been going to Sycuan Casino since it was a little hole in the wall Compared to the beautiful remodeled building thier in now. Anywho Ive have been waiting to try the Bull & Bourbon Steakhouse and it a very nice place. I do recommend for a nice, Evening with a loved one or just a family gathering. My Discrepancy and the reason for a 1 star was the service. It start out well and got bad fast. Me and my wife went here only to receive the Rudest and most uncomfortable experiences ever from a Casino Food and beverage department ever. I cried until my uber showed up for the way we was Handel. I had to leaving here feeling Rob and taken of the good spirit and energy I brought into the Casino. I don't think anyone should have to deal with this kind treatment in a place open to members and the public.
So I didn't have a reservation but showed up at opening time. The hostess said I could sit at the bar to eat although I needed to pull up my own chair to the bar. But I could not sit inside the restaurant even though there was not a sole in there. This restaurant is run by a third party and the hostesses could care less about you or me. I wish Sycuan would take it over so that it would be properly run like the rest of the casino.
I have honestly NEVER had to cancel my dinner order. It was over 2 HOURS since we had ordered and STILL didn't get our food. The appetizer was overcooked but hey the salad was good. Absolutely ridiculous!! I will NEVER be coming back. What a waste of time and gas to end up hungry.
Overpriced steak... and that's IT. The manager DESPERATELY needs to go back to hospitallity school, the way he spoke to us, but especially his staff was like we were at the Barstow IHOP. The open kitchen is a vulgar onslaught of F-this and F-that. They were out of every wine we asked for, 5 in total. Wanted an after dinner bourbon but were out of the 3 that I wanted, so I just cut my losses. We will not be back, COMP or not. This place is a joke for the prices. Oh and the menue is full of typos.
Enjoyed the food atmosphere, unfortunately the hostesses that began the whole experience were less than professional, rude and ultimately ruined the entire experience. Just a suggestion to have a better idea of who you want representing your restaurant.
The chocolate cake was a 0/10. So disappointing, do not waste your time or money
This has to be one of my worst dinning experiences, the level of service was quite bad. The sides to our steak came out significantly after the steak so we ate them one at a time. In fact the steak sauce did not even come out with the steak. I’m disappointed in the level of service provided at the very least the steak and sides should come out at the same time or close to it not so far apart it that you eat them one at a time. I would advise that you spend your money on a place that takes the level of service more seriously than here. In terms of food the porterhouse and mashed potatoes were good, but at the level they are trying to compete with I would not call it competitive to other steakhouses in San Diego. Based on others reviews it seems we might have gone on an off night so hopefully you won’t have the same experience as me.
Steak was “rindy”, meat seemed low quality. We both were sick afterwards. Very expensive. Will not return.
Tried this place for the second time. Don’t go unless you’ve won money and/or it’s free. OR… your hammered and taste doesn’t matter. Staff is excellent and understands the casino pays to keep it running, so it does not matter what critics say because they are not going anywhere. I will say I enjoyed the wine so good job on your vinification of grapes 😏. Side note. I sent my steak, lobster, spinach, potatoes, mushrooms, potato soup and Cesar salad back after a bite or two and still paid over $400 for my non eaten meal. SWEET
