A big thank you to Brian the general manager for getting us a table so fast. We waited in line at the Omni Hotel to check in for over 2 hrs. The food and the people are amazing.

If you're staying at the Omni, this is such a great option! We sat outside, nicely covered by umbrella, and enjoyed perfect weather and delish food. They serve authentic tacos, so hard to find. Wait staff was very friendly and overall just an enjoyable experience.

NOT A CAFE ~ is more like a Mexican restaurant. But it is nice, and people are very friendly while I wait for the bus.

If you’re in the downtown area and are craving Mexican food I highly recommend this place. It sits in front of the Omni hotel near the convention center. The drinks were made to perfection, and the food was so good it made me forget to take a picture before devouring it all. I highly recommend this upscale Mexican restaurant.

Food was sooo good and the chef was soo nice ! Let us taste one of his special dishes !

Quick service! Tasty food. I had the Enchilades Verde with a Dos Equis. Chips and salsa were complimentary. Just enough spice... the red sauce was a little tobasco-like but still tasty.

Nice atmosphere, great customer service, portions, presentation and flavor outstanding! José y Abigail super atentos And a huge special shout-out to Brandy the chef!

So good, we came back the very next day! Shalanda gave amazing service!! She even remembered our drinks. Sorry about the partially eaten verde enchiladas photo... they were so good I forgot halfway through to snap a pic

I love the ambiance here. The bartender did his thing with the raspberry margaritas 😋. The food was delicious rice was kinda hard though. Definitely going back

Beef fajitas were quite good The salsa was different but good the tomatillo salsa was cool and very good. The fajita meat was probably the most tender I've had. Food did need a touch of salt and you will need to ask for salt if desired. All in all not a bad choice for quick 8pm dinner.

The manager was so kind and detailed and came to check on my table to make sure we didn't need anything. This was my first time here and it won't be the last.

We were seated immediately by Mariyah on the patio. It was our preference it was too cold inside. Plus it was a beautiful afternoon! Being that we were eating outside we had to order from the bar. Terra was the bartender for the day she was amazing. Our food literally took about fifteen minutes from the time we ordered to the time it reached the table. Our drink orders was being replenished without hesitation. Didn't catch the man name who took care of our table with such a great demeanor, attentive and great customer service. I'm very sorry I missed his name tag. Now back to lunch... my sister Ann and I ordered the Lemon Ave 75 it came with two enchiladas beef/cheese, rice and bean...and a bonus deep fried 🌮 😋! That was the best taco ever!!! Mariyah had some down time and gave us a tour of the remaining restaurants and hotel that is operated by The Omni hotel. I haven't lived in Texas in over thirty years and everything changed for the better. We parked on a meter for $2.00 You can get free parking for up to four hours free at Cafe Herrera restaurant. Now my next visit will be at the sports bar inside the hotels there's over 70 TV in there. That sounds like a good place to be for a game.

I loved this place! Really good chips and salsa that arrived quickly after I sat down. I recommend the piña Rita if you are looking for an alcoholic beverage. I ordered the La Diabla shrimp dish which had a lot of sauce but was very tasty. My only critique is that I don't like when restaurants leave the tails of shrimp on.

Upon arrival I was immediately greeted. Since I was flying solo they recommended I order from the bar. James hooked it up with water before I even finished sitting down. Any time I glanced his way by accident he was there ready to help. The drinks were greatly balanced. The quesataco(quesadilla tejas) was brought to me before I finished my first Henny & Coke and it tasted spectacular. Anytime I’m in the area I will absolutely stop by. 10/10. Highly recommend.

The best chicken nachos I've had in a very long time. Chicken was shredded and juicy, flavorful with melted cheese. They come as individual nachos rather than a pile with guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños, and pico in the center. I opted out the guacamole, sour cream, and jalapeños. 10/10

WOW! In town for a conference and popped in for lunch. Super friendly, great atmosphere, and the food was absolutely delicious. Fresh and flavorful!

We went during a conference with a party of 7. They were full but made room for us still. They were so nice and very accommodating! The food was made right in front of us and came out very hot! Any requests we had they took care of.

This place has killer good Mexican food. It was pretty packed when we went there around 6. It was worth the wait though. They give you chips and salsa which are pretty good and keep bringing them out during the meal. I got the shrimp enchiladas with salsa verde and chipotle sauce. They tasted awesome and had a bit of a kick. The meal was a little small so of you're hungry order the fajitas. Those were also very good. Overall a good experience.

Food is amazing!! Have to come for Brunch or dinner because the menu does change. Every time I come have an amazing time. The Bar is fully stocked.

It was so delicious that our group went there 2 days in a row. The service was top-notch and very efficient . We are only in town for the convention but I'm sure we will eat there again before we leave .

We walked here for lunch after picking up our BMW Marathon Festival race packets at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. We split a chicken fajita plate for one because everything’s bigger in Texas, including their servings! The fajitas came with a generous portion of rice, refried beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, cheese and sour cream and it was all reasonably priced. When we asked for more tortillas we got them quickly, hot and fresh. Our server was super personable when we sat at the bar, we didn’t have drinks but I would love to go back and try their margaritas! They looked delicious! I definitely recommend Cafe Herrera!

Walked in and was greeted with smiles. Sat at the bar top which the bartender had a very outgoing personality that made what I'm about to say with ease. Ordered the La Vaquero tacos w/rice and let me just explain that my first expectation was low for the meal but this was absolutely delicious. Brisket wasn't dried or bland. Rice didn't have alot veggies in it like most restaurants which I like. It was moist and the best restaurant made rice thus far.

S

I liked Herrerra's. Food and service were both very nice. Had a small lunch of quesadillas with fajita beef. Megan was at the bar and took perfect care of me. I arrived at a very busy time but was able to sit at the bar as a single. If you have a large group (5+) prepare for 30 minutes wait at peak times. Prices were premium given the location.

J
Justin Hazley

I had the cochinita pibil and really enjoyed it, tender, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was great. Definitely a spot I’d come back to when I’m craving good Mexican food in Dallas.

Considering it’s next to the convention center, We were really pleased with our meal. Great, authentic flavors, yummy chips and salsa for the table, and attentive staff. The corn tortillas are homemade and a must-eat!

Was working DreamHack at Kay Bailey Hutchinson Covention Center, stopped in for lunch. The chips and salsa was AMAZING. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the kids Chimichanga, came with rice and beans. Everything tasted good, service was good, not too busy. Trisha (mgr) took good care of us, very attentive and friendly. I will be back.

First time being here for brunch for Cinco de Mayo and the service was great. Our server was respectful and personable. The brisket in the flautas were flavorful and tender. The drinks were beautifully crafted and tasted amazing! Nice vibe for brunch! Coming back for dinner.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful experience at Café Herrera! Despite it being a busy night, our servers Jalan and Megan were absolutely phenomenal — attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to make sure our entire family had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and I especially appreciated that the chicken tacos were gluten-free, which made ordering easy and stress-free. The flavors were fresh, portions were generous, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend if you’re in Dallas and looking for great service and even better food. We’ll definitely be back!

Hidden inside the Omni, we didn't even know it was there until our last day. I would recommend the BLT, it was so good. I appreciated the gluten free options.

J

Very good food and right next to the convention center so it is a welcome change from the vendors there. See ice was a little shaky at first but it was early in the day. The service got much better throughout the meal. The food is exactly what you expect for more upscale Tex-Mex. The portion size is a little smaller than you typically get in those restaurants, but was acceptable. The tortillas are very good, but again on the small side. Do get the queso with your chips, it was amazing.

T
Trina Lee

My experience was great. Ty (the bartender) was phenomenal. He made me the best lemon drop I have ever had! The presentation was nothing less than amazing. I will definitely be back.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my daughter and me during the NCA cheer comp scare in Dallas last week. I have never had your food, but I know your staff is quick thinking, brave, and compassionate. They put the safety of others before themselves. Maybe next time I come to Dallas I can try your food and thank you in person for hiring good people.

It can get a little busy at times but the hostess sat us right away and got us started off with chips and salsa with drinks while we waited for our server who had a big party, so we appreciated that. The food tasted pretty good and was super hot and fresh when we got it, the fajitas stayed sizzling on the skillet which was nice!!! The drinks are stronger than normal so you might need to let the bartender know to tone down the taste, but which our bartender was super accommodating and friendly. The kitchen is open for people to watch the cooks as they make the food and the kitchen was very clean. Overall we had a good experience and it was within walking distance across the street from the Omni Hotel.

Went to Dallas for a volleyball tournament and ended up eating here — honestly, it was such a good find! It was pretty packed when we showed up, but the staff were super friendly and kept everything moving. Our food came out quicker than we expected, and everything tasted great. You could tell they were really working hard, but they still made time to check in on us and make sure we had everything we needed. Definitely made our busy weekend a little easier (and tastier!). We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in town.

This past weekend, we were in town for a volleyball tournament and decided to stop by Cafe Herrera on Lamar — and I’m so glad we did! Even though the place was buzzing with people, the service was super friendly and the food came out fast. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. You can tell they know what they’re doing in the kitchen. Great atmosphere too — it had just the right amount of energy without feeling overwhelming. Definitely recommend if you’re anywhere near downtown and craving some top-notch Mexican food!

Visited this restaurant today and had an amazing experience! The manager, Trisha, was absolutely wonderful and attentive. The service was outstanding, the food was phenomenal, and the drinks were perfect. The entire staff was vibrant and funny, which added to the great atmosphere. Trisha was very hands-on with her team — something you don’t see often, and it truly stood out. I loved every bit of it!!!!

Food was excellent. Well prepared and timely. Service was very good. Atmosphere was a little more diner-like than I prefer, but we will certainly be back…so I guess the atmosphere wasn’t that big an issue. 😁

For a restaurant operated by a hotel, I am very impressed! Before I could even walk in the service was phenomenal, they opened the door for me and immediately were ready to seat me and even allowed me to choose a preferred table location in the dining room. The dining room had lots of natural light and a nice bright aesthetic. My server, Nina was excellent through the meal and had a perfect understanding of when to and when not to be there. Both the complementary water glass and my other beverage were refilled without needing to ask. The menu has a wide range of offerings, I decided to go for the queso as an appetizer and ordered some fajitas as my main. The queso was great, it complemented the chips perfectly and the addition of the fresh pico on top added a new flavor dynamic I did not know queso was capable of. The chips seemed to be house made and were pretty good, the tajin seasoning was an interesting choice, but overall strong appetizer. They gave enough time to enjoy the appetizer before the entree came out. Fajitas were delicious, everything was fresh and the quality was on point for Omni. I felt it was a good portion size for one person and not too much which is a plus, the price of around $17 is also pretty cheap given it is closer to $20 in most restaurants now, I found it somewhat surprising being located at a very upmarket hotel, but it's nice to have some options which are both good and affordable in the Dallas area. Overall I had a wonderful lunch experience and I look forward to returning, maybe with some extra diners next time around!

Went for a HH pop up and it was a nice time, staff was friendly and our server was the sweetest, the manager Ty, I believe is his name, was even delightful and showed off his talents with a shaker, would definitely go again!

The atmosphere was so exactly what we needed after a long day of training. The food was even better. We were so impressed we had to find out the chef’s name, Jose, is an amazing chef. The food was so impressive we went two nights in a row. Knowledgeable servers & extremely attentive. The Omni did great in hiring a great group to represent them well at Cafe Herrera!

We came here on break from our conference. The restaurant is conveniently located by the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Although busier than normal, our server was attentive. The food was good but not the best I've had. However, if in the area, would return.

My friend and I walked over from the Omni and were quickly seated. Our waitress recommended a great cocktail which was pretty tasty. I ordered a mix order of fajitas which were delicious. My friend enjoyed her meal and said it was one of the better versions of that food. We also ordered some frozen strawberry margaritas. We ordered some sopapillas which came with some cinnamon ice cream for dessert which were great Our waitress was great and the atmosphere was very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Overall enjoyed the place and experience. Our wait was mainly due to having a party of 6 but smaller parties can get in pretty quick if it isn't busy. The menu is small but with that the food prep was relatively quick to serve once ordered.

M
Mickeal Rhaney

Shalanda gave great service !!! Very pleasant individual. The wait to be seated was a little unorganized. We were told a 5-10 minute wait and ended up waiting about 25 minutes. Did not like that there was water and chips on table before being seated. They have indoor, bar, and outdoor seating. The quality of food was decent. The mixture that was on top of my carne asada did not look very appetizing. They do not have black beans which was slightly disappointing.

K
Karina Sanchez

We decided to try them out for a casual anniversary dinner. Our server Theo was amazing, and our order was delivered promptly. We loved the freshly, house made chips and tortillas. (However, they could make use of some spicier salsa) The chicken and steak fajitas were delicious! My only complaint is that the shrimp was extremely salty. Overall, a great experience. We will gladly be returning.

Sunday late dinner 9 pm, I had a Gin and Tonic “ it was perfect” really good size. The chip came warm and the salsa was good, I ordered for dinner “las flautas” very authentic. Nice place a cross the Omnia Hotel.

Our service was gracious and kind but most of all expedient. Located within walking distance of the Downtown Dallas Hyatt Reunion Conference Center; even in the Texas heat. The atmosphere is one of sophistication and class with a little above average pricing, but worth the customer service and satisfying portions provided in the meals. When we arrived, we were greeted at the entrance with an inviting smile and seated immediately followed by the bottomless basket of freshly made tortilla chips and salsa. There were six of us connecting over our brief conference break that was also limited by the minimal time of walking there and back, but caused an urgency in our service. Without even requesting the timely service, the anticipated service was impressive. Our drinks arrived almost at the same time our chips and salsa did, and our orders were taken one by one with attentive focus by our server, water was refreshed without hesitation or interruption to the flow of our table conversation. Even with the extremely satisfied service most of us still had to take our leftovers or unable to eat due to our time frame and intense conversations. I was thankful for the chips and salsa that held me over until our next break where we were able to enjoy the authentic fresh ingredients blended together for each of our unfinished dishes. The flavor was one of passion and inspiration that the cook must have added to make the savory flavors not just pleasant to the pallet, but filling to the spirit as well. I will definitely visit this place again without rush or urgency to embrace the full experience this Cafe has to offer. I was so rushed, I didn't even get any photos to share.... Guess I'll just HAVE to go back 😎🏐🔥🌅💯

Experience here was just ok. The restaurant was very warm which was not comfortable. I think they were short on staff as service was very slow. Food was good but not great. Chicken enchiladas were good but cabbage salad was not great so would advise to get the rice and beans instead. Probably with another try.

I was not really impressed with the food here. It was okay. The location was really convenient when attending a conference at the convention center. The wait staff were not that attentive.

A
Augusto Cangahuala

I think that for what you pay, this is very average tasting mexican food, presented in a very basic way. Also, when you sit at the patio, you have to order at the bar, pay ahead, and they bring your food out but don't provide full service, so won't bring silverware, chips, or even water to your table. The patio is actually nice, with some lounge chairs and couches under some pretty trees. The location is very convenient if you are attending an event at the convention center.

H
Himanshu Desai

Somewhat disappointed after reading so many positive reviews. I've had way better tex-mex. The enchiladas plate I received was like a premade dinner barely lukewarm. Wasn't very tasty and not what I would consider flavorful.. Salsa with the chips was mild and they don't have anything else if you want something spicy. Bar service was friendly and nice. Drinks were decent. Solid pass for me if I wasn't staying at the Omni.

C
Connie Stanley

food is great, service was terrible. we sat for 15 minutes without a single person greeting us. i finally asked the hostess if someone could please come take our order. she waved over the server and told her we wanted to order and the server replied everyone wants to order. eventually the manager took our order and besides the food runner bringing us our food, no one ever came back to check on us.

C

I would have loved to of reviewed this place on its food because the food was delicious. But unfortunately I'm having to give this place a 3 star due to service. Yes the place was busy (there was NCA Nationals gong on in Dallas) but that was not even the issue, we expected to wait and what not. The issue was when we sat down the waitress never asked would this be separate checks or one check. There was clearly 5 adults & 6 children with us. Due to it being slammed the drink refills were lacking but again food came out pretty quickly in my opinion. The issue was the check when it was time to get the check the waitress brought just one and we said wait we aren't all together please separate the check, she tells us matter a factly that they don't do that here and that it was our fault we didn't tell her! Gets even better when we start having to cash app one lady in our group that covered the whole thing she notices that the money we sent doesn't cover the bill that she paid! That's when we noticed the automatic gratuity of almost $60....we would have tipped her....but that's not the only issue it appears she wouldn't get that automatic gratuity if the check would have been split, so that was off the top annoying but even with the added it all up with that we still weren't adding up. Then we had to break it down and noticed there were extra plates added which drove the bill up. We ended up asking for those things to be refunded.....which the lady had to wait for her bank to release back to her. Extremely unprofessional. Again food was amazing just hated the attitude when we asked to separate the bill which turned into an absolute mess.

Didn’t have enough staff to take care of us! Had a 20 minute wait to sit down! We only had 1 hour to eat!!

I enjoyed this yr experience. I was just disappointed the menu and food was not the same as Herrera’s Oak Cliff. I was hoping it would be the same when we stopped in after the Convention Center. Still good but not amazing like Herrera’s OC.

J

The wait for the food was way too long for chicken fajitas. The beans could be canned beans and not fresh. Not a place where I would visit again. The server was very nice, the hostess not friendly at all.

Service is terrific. Friendly and professional. I had chicken tacos and my wife had chicken enchiladas. Our grade for the food is B+. Ok, but not great. Atmosphere is fine, but can be a bit noisy from larger groups. Overall we give a grade of A-. Price was reasonable on the food, but a bit steep on mixed drinks.

C
Connie King

We went when they were not busy at all and it took about 45 minutes to get our meals. I ordered the fish taco's and as they were good, I have had much better. Maybe they would have tasted better when I was hungry instead, because of th long wait, we all probably ate to much chips and salsa. As they did an ok job refilling the chips and salsa, drinks were another story. At one point everyone at the table needed a refill. Definitely a disappointment!

A
Alisa Takeuchi

Unfortunately, this was a complete miss for us. I'm staying at the Omni for a conference, and this place is conveniently located just across the lot and the menu looked good. We were seated and given chips and salsa right away. Our server, Daniel, was very busy with a few large groups of conference goers, and it took awhile to get our order. He did apologize for the wait, but at some point, you think the manager or someone else would have helped him with his tables. We ordered the guacamole, shrimp fajitas, and shrimp enchiladas with salsa Verde. The guac came out quickly and the presentation was beautiful, however it was way too salty. We both love salt on our food, but this was too much. We took one bite each and told the manager. We could see all of the chefs and manager trying it in the back, and when I asked her if she thought it was salty, she supported her chefs and said she must be used to it that way. Our food came and I thought my shrimp fajitas was delicious. The shrimp were seasoned well as well as the vegetables. It was a very generous portion all together. The guac that came with it was from the exact same batch as our appetizer and so it stayed on the plate. Be better and think that through next time. My BF's salsa Verde was again way too salty. Not sure if this was done purposefully (we'll just say it wasn't) and that the chef just has a heavy hand when seasoning. Again, we saw them taste it in the back when the manager inquired if anything was wrong with the food. My BF is an artisan cook, so he knows about seasoning, and absolutely requires food is properly salted, so when he thinks it's too salty, it's a problem. When the bill came, the manager was very kind and took both the guac and enchiladas off the bill and didn't say anything. We appreciated it very much and thought it was the appropriate action. Between the host and the server, we could tell they didn't really want to be working. They put in as minimal effort as possible at their job. The bus girl and the manager were extremely efficient and hard working to offset the rest of the staff. We won't be back, and I hope this was just a bad night, and that the service and food can be better. I don't recommend this place, but if you go, I hope you have a better experience than we did.

D
Dyan Leonard

Terrible service! My husband ordered "Rancheros" enchiladas, I had a Lemmon special, all of our enchiladas were covered with sour cream sauce. Everything was cold except for the tacos. Salsa was bland n we were served the wrong nachos. Will not come back. This place needs to take "Herrera" out of their name.

M
Megan Muehlbauer

Came here because we wanted to try the Maximo margarita. And the hours on Google said you guys were open, and when we got here we saw a sign with the hours, and you were closed.... Please update your hours on google because we walked all of the here from the JFK memorial and are quite disappointed.

J

Staying at the Omni, we thought the service and food couldn’t be bad. Well we were wrong..... asked for a drink menu, our waiter never returned. Asked for a clean fork that didn’t have dried sour cream on it.. he never returned. Water was never refilled and the Food was mediocre at best, but service was horrible. The restaurant was only at half capacity, yet there was very little concern for our experience. There was not a kids menu, he told us maybe they can just get something from the appetizer menu.

M
Madison Rainbow

Great service, awful food. And as someone who steers away from writing negative reviews, please know, this is the absolute worst Tex-Mex I have had in a very long time. Chips and queso is my favorite part of Tex-Mex and it was the equivalent of ballpark nachos. The tortilla soup was thick and tasted like a beef chili, and the fajitas were flavorless. My meal was the equivalent of bad cafeteria food.

A
Annabelle Bradstock

I can see why they’re only open on the weekends and I should’ve trusted the bad reviews!! Unfortunately was the only tex-mex/Mexican food we could find nearby. My tacos had a CRUMB of cheese on them. Ridiculous! My fiancé ordered the “queso de queso” from the menu and it was literally a cheesy roll up from Taco Bell with cheese dip on top for a ridiculous amount of $$$. Service also sucked, only one server on a Saturday night was weird, everyone seemed to have issues with their orders, and our server passed us several times over the course of 15 minutes but never stopped to check in or bring a refill until we were done eating.

L
Lesly Valadez

Worst customer service!! We waited over 20 mins for anyone to notice us! The water guy came and then the chips. Still no waiter, we waited another 10 mins and still nothing. We ended up walking out and I told the hostess and all he said was ok and nod his head. There was another couple that were walking out for the same reason! They’re definitely in the wrong area for a crappy service! The only two waiters that were there were too busy flirting with two girls at the bar. Worst place ever.

T
Theressa

Went for lunch today and I can honestly say this was the WORST Mexican food I have EVER had. Chips were so HARD I almost broke my tooth. Asked waitress if I could get another bowl of chips and the ones brought were worse than the first. Salsa no flavor and shrimp enchiladas no better. Won't ever be back.

I walked in and the place was almost as hot is it was outside (in the 80’s). I was sat immediately and ordered sweet tea w/lemon & guacamole - the guacamole was pretty middle of the road. The bad part was the napkins. They smelled like they were washed with the kitchen mop water. After wiping my hands off, I had to wash them to get rid of the smell. My waitress was very nice though and offered good service. There are too many really good places to eat Mexican food to go back.

On Sunday, my husband and I visited Cafe Herra anticipating a delightful Mexican culinary experience. Unfortunately, our visit fell short of expectations. Our Pollo Monterey orders were incorrect, and the quesadilla arrived belatedly, after our main course, which was served cold. The cook's behavior led to my plate being microwaved. We received excuses when inquiring about the delay. I had to request tea refills repeatedly. The manager's response was unhelpful, implying we were at fault, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Our experience warrants a zero rating for both food and service.

Had a company event here last night and spent the entire night throwing up after. Several people in my company also had similar experience. Not sure if chefs were paying attention or food is always that terrible.
