Went there this evening for my friends birthday. 1st of all Timothy the Executive Chef greeted us, made drinks at the bar was our server and Chef. They need wait staff but due to covid we all know. He was SUPER. The meal took a while but this is how Italians actually eat in Italy and we were talking and were undecided. We were having a great time. Talking to each other and Timothy. We had the Calamari appetizer which was cooked perfectly. Not rubbery like if fried too long. We drank some wine and cocktails and then when dinner came out I loved my calzone. Had to take 1/2 home. We had 2 New Yorkers with us who said the food was good just not the same as New York but that is to be expected. The other 2 ladies in our party said their dishes were super. Then we had desert. My Tiramisu was super and the sorbet and Gelato was fantastic. Then the New Yorkers loved the canolli. They said it was just like at home. At this time we closed the place and got to meet the Owner. Mr Nundini was a hoot. Super funny and tells the best stories. So if you want to eat fast food go to Olive Garden. Good food is served here with time spent actually talking to the people you are with. Grazie mille per una buona serata Mr Nundini e Mr Timothy
One of our favorite local places! We love the atmosphere featuring regional wine displays. We’ve found the food to be consistently very good and authentic. We typically go towards the latter part of the lunch hours, which yields a quiet and private experience. The lunch prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. The linguine with pesto, with addition of an optional protein like grilled chicken, is a standout. The pesto is a creamy and delicious adaptation. Veal Parmesan and Penne Sugo Rosa with meatballs were also excellent choices. Nundini’s is definitely on the short list of restaurants to take friends visiting from out of town.
This place is such an amazi g place. I have driven by for years and wondered what exactly it was. Finally made it in and had to come back the next day to spend the evening having an extended dinner with wine and delicious appetizers and meal. Highly suggest! Come for the experience as well as the authentic food.
Absolutely amazing!!! I came to Nundini's @ 10 years ago and would get their most delicious caprese sandwiches. The place has grown since then with a beautiful interior. There is an ample dining room, great private dining rooms to rent for events, a small Italian market with the best coffee (Lavazza), a deli case with classic Italian meats and cheeses and gelato. However, most importantly, the food is still amazing. We went simple and got the fettuccini Alla pana and the margarita pizza. The noodles tasted fresh and the sauce was light. There pizza was delicious too. If you are looking for classic and amazing Italian food with a great ambiance, then this is the place. The service for pick up was perfection. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
LOVED this place. Its nothing fancy on the outside of the restaurant but once you get in , you're in Italy. Treated very well by the personnel, food is delicious - tastes like in Europe. Idk how they achieve it!! Have been there twice now. OCTOPUS is a must. Served just like in Mediterranean- with boiled potato. CALAMARI very fresh. No pictures of PASTA with frutti di mare - mind-blowing. We also tried CHICKEN PARMESANO and PASTA W/MEATBALLS. everything is highly recommended. They have a homemade ice cream and desserts and a section of Italian delicatessen you can take home. The choice of wines is excellent.
Wow! What a great place. The food is arguably the best in town. The pasta and pizza are wonderful. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They aren't only a restaurant, but also a small store as well. You can purchase oils, sauces, pasta, meats, and much more. They have an event space too that is beautiful. I wish I had known of this place earlier. My wife and I will definitely be back. April 2022: still delicious.
Nundini Chef Table is my new favorite restaurant in Houston my a mile. We were there to celebrate an occasion with four families, and the whole experience was fantastic. Timothy, the executive chef, noticed our large group and came out of the to meet us as we were looking at the menu. His friendly charm set a fun tone for the night, and his insight helped us lock in a fantastic dinner experience. We did everything “family style” so we could all try a wide variety of food passing dishes around. It’s probably not for everybody, but they served the most tender octopus I’ve ever had anywhere. We finished with their homemade gelato, which was the perfect end to an awesome evening. This is a standout family restaurant.
My husband and I went here for date night last night and chef Timothy promised us a great night and he wasn't kidding. After talking to us he told us he told us just to leave it to him and he would surprise us and that was what we did. From start to finish everything was delicious. The fresh bread with olive oil and spices was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. He brought a charcuterie board with the most fresh and delicious cheeses and meats and olives/ veggies. Then the tomato risotto was so good but we didn't finish it all only to leave space for more because we knew more was coming. He brought out the main dish which was included tasty octopus, fish, the best clams ever, and perfectly cooked rib eye steaks. We finished the night with some fresh Gelato i chose pistachio and pineapple cheesecake and my husband chose chocolate. We even purchased a bottle of wine. Honestly everything was exquisite and the service was superb. We're definitely coming back. I even heard the neighboring couple tell him that they had the best lasagna they had ever tasted so it wasn't just us that were happy and having a great night. I can't wait to try it oh and the pizza because it looked delicious. They had the piano playing which added some romance to the mood. We lived it! Strongly recommend it.
“Never judge a book by its cover!” Tucked away in a warehouse in the iconic Heights this place proved to be amazing. Truly authentic, made to order, fresh Italian cuisine. The establishment has 3 bars and several rooms to be rented out for private dining or events. Equipped with a market of imported Italian delicacies and fresh gelato bar, you can’t go wrong. Not to mention the abundant choice of regional wines to pick from is incredible. 10/10 recommend if you are not in a rush and want to enjoy some delicious Italian cuisine.
My daughter and I have been enjoying this place for many years. Food is always amazing with homemade pasta and the best taste of Italy that nobody can touch. My go to dishes are always the Burrata Pugliese con Pomodorini, Fettuccine alla panna, Risotto Al gung-ho porcini. The filetto al pepe when in steak mood. You can never skip the gelato, always so good.
Yummy night out for early 5:30pm dinner! Nundini Chef's Table dinner with Chef Tim and our server Victor was fabulous! All our drinks and eats were wonderful! appetizer Insulata di Pulpa, meal off-menu Branzino alla Mugnain, meal Scallopine di Vitello Oscar, and dessert Cannoli alla Siciliani.
Outstanding food and service. The staff took great care of our large group. We showed up without a reservation and quite late. The staff catered to our every need with honest enthusiasm and smiles. The wine selection was very good, and the mixed drinks were done well. We were the last people in the restaurant and the staff did not hurry us out. We felt at home with a great family meal. At the end of our meal, there was a fantastic Gelato bar as well. Lots of fresh flavors to choose from. We were encouraged to taste as many as we wished before making our selection. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
This is long but well worth it. Absolutely fantastic dining. My son had taken my wife and I to Nundini last month so we decided to return with the whole family. It is a very warm and cozy place beautifully appointed. Our expectations were high since we had a wonderful experience last time. Well our expectations were exceeded. Timmothy greeted us and made us feel at home. The service was perfect; responsive and professional. Our server made suggestions that were exactly what we were looking for. Appetizers were fabulous. We dined on everything from spaghetti and meatballs (not sure what they called it) to seafood on risotto, steak, grilled chicken Alfredo, and handmade pasta stuffed with short rib. It was all wonderfully and perfectly prepared. Authentic? Don’t know because never been to Italy. All I know is it was the best Italian food I have ever had not only in Houston but anywhere. It is now my favorite restaurant and anytime I make the trip to Houston it is the only place I will go. Next time PIZZA (looks great).
Great restaurant space in the Heights tucked away in what looks like a warehouse from afar. Food was delicious and tasted home-cooked, and all of the staff was wonderful to interact with. You can top off the meal with their authentic Gelato.
Couples and family place. Upscale. Able to seat multiples of people. Service is refined. Chef personally appeared to discuss menu options as one of the party had limited knowledge of Italian cuisine. When one of our party did not receive what she thought she was getting, it was replaced immediately at no cost. Will return. Easy location to get to even if you don't live in Houston.
Staff were all friendly and extremely helpful with identifying the perfect meal for myself and my family. Not a crowded or claustrophobic place, but instead you can breathe and take in the accouterments and strong Italian theme. Every item we've had was exquisite except one time where chicken was overcooked, but the chef himself came out and fixed the problem immediately. Also, try the Gelato. To die for.
Best Italian restaurant I’ve been to. Also is a beautiful place with good wine and gelato. If you are planning a romantic anniversary dinner there is no better place because the wine selection is the best in town .
Service is as wonderful as the food! Bartender Sam is friendly and attentive. We come for happy hour and then move into the dining room for dinner! Chef Timothy greets his guests before creating culinary delights! You will love this place!
Came here for an early dinner. Was pleasantly surprised by the pastas we ordered. The pesto was just great. Will be coming back to try other things.
Nundini’s had been on the list of places we’ve been meaning to try forever and I’m glad we finally did. The bruschetta, Caesar salad, and veal Milanese were incredibly. Drinks were excellent especially the tiramisu martini. Service was impeccable and everyone was incredibly friendly.
This place was divine , a breath of fresh air , the atmosphere has a lived in feel , not your typical overly floral or sterile apple store restaurant . The staff are personable , the food is cooked to order , not sitting in a warmer like in most . We even had the pleasure of speaking with the chef , not because we had an issue but because he went to our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal . He made sure to tell us if there ever is an issue , they would be more than glad to fix it , and not to suffer through something we didn't enjoy , as he stated not every dish on the menu is for everyone . We ordered the penne alla boscaiola , which we split , and honestly I wish we didnt share it because I wanted more , we also ordered cacio pepe which not on the menu but we had a hankering for , and they accomodated gladly. I don't understand how this place is not overrun , or why people come here with standards of a corporate restaurant , this is small family owned place , the chef let us know of the history , how they recently lost the founder in a tragic accident ,how his son and the chef have continued to carry the torch and keep the family recipes alive .
Handmade pasta, great wine selection, and homey European feel. Yes, from the outside this looks like a warehouse, but inside is a charming Italian place that reminded me of family restaurants in Luca and Florence, classy but relaxed. Our server was very attentive and the food was excellent. There’s also a little selection of imported Italian goods to buy, if you’re up for trying something new.
Authentic Italian Experience in Houston! The dishes are incredibly authentic and bursting with Italian flavor. The menu offers a great variety of traditional Italian dishes and an impressive selection of wines. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a genuine Italian dining experience in Houston!
Don’t let the exterior steer you away, the inside is really nice and they have an incredible wine selection. The pasta is homemade and everything is fresh.
Tried Nundini for the first time. Loved it. I'm used to "American Italian" food here I was able to try spaghetti and meatballs with an Italian sauce. I didn't know what I had been missing using the jars purchased at the grocery store. The staff and team were great. I will definitely be back.
Nundini's has quickly become my group of friends favorite place to go! We go there to celebrate birthdays holidays etc. the staff is always friendly the food is excellent and Sammy behind the bar is the best! I highly recommend dining here!
I love coming here in the spur of the moment. Love sitting at the bar near the market area. There nothing you can’t get here. Service is always great and the Chef always comes out to speak to you. Had the Mexican martini the Chdf made me and the risotto. Always a counter sipper. Friendly staff and risotto never disappoints.
Had the special of the day, lobster with a spicy tomato linguine 10/10. Service was quick and attentive and they have a great wine selection. for dessert we had some of the cookies from Bittersweet and wow! Best cookies in Houston no doubt. Overall a 10/10 dining experience we will definitely be returning. Also the free bread with the oil is always nice.
Took my mom out for her birthday, it was a party of 5 and everything was perfect! Great wine and delicious food we even had dessert which we never do. The chef came to our table and we chatted a bit. Everyone left happy and full!
This has become my new favorite restaurant in Houston. It is a hidden gem for sure. The service is very personal and the food is outstanding. There is a very large selection of Italian wines and they are priced to enjoy. Take your time when you go and enjoy the evening. We didn’t have reservations but I would recommend you book ahead if you want a table after 7:00 PM. We will be back.
Went here on a Friday night on a date. The atmosphere was delightful, the staff friendly and relaxed, the food was amazing! I had the Ceche de Pepe pasta with lemoncello cake for dessert! The wine selection is extensive and they were helpful in choosing a wine we would like. The cherry on the top is the market and bar! Amazing sliced meats and cheeses in the deli with homemade gelato (many options in which they let you taste!) I was too stuffed to get a coffee but I noticed they have top notch espresso and I’ll be returning here to try that as well next time!
Wonderful spot for adults and kids. There is a small arcade for kids to play. The food is delicious and authentic. Great wine menu and in-house made gelato.
Ever since they redid the menu, the food has been nothing short of phenomenal, just so delicious I want to eat it for dinner, lunch and then breakfast with the takeout. SO So good.
I have visited this restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the experience. The food and wine selection is fantastic, and the ambiance is nice.
Delicious Italian dishes! On a prior visit, the chef visited our table to welcome us, and stated “if there’s something you want but don’t see it on the menu, just let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.” That proved untrue on our second visit, as one of our dinner guests really wanted chicken parmigiana. I told our waiter of our prior chat with the chef, and requested the chicken parmigiana. Our waiter gave a sharp reply: “No, we can’t make things that are not on the menu, and we also don’t honor requests for substitutions.” I thought that was a bit of “snippy” remark, and showed little respect for his customer.
Always a great dinning experience. Professional yet friendly service along with best Italian food in Houston.
I have had several lunches here with work colleagues. The place is usually empty at lunchtime. I have always found the service and selection of Italian food and wine to be excellent. Its location is great and its quirky vibe as part of a warehouse makes it unique.
I have passed this restaurant for years because the exterior is a warehouse with zero curb appeal, so I assumed a negative outcome. I was missing out and so glad a friend told me about this place! I am very impressed with the interior which is a traditional Italian restaurant. And even more impressed with the food! I highly recommend going to this place and treat yourself to something special.
I love the ambience of this restaurant. The food is fantastic and the wait staff is top notch.
Wonderful meals! Friendly staff. Great prices. My favorite Italian Restaurant!
One of my favorite restaurants!! Everyone is so kind and treats you like family here. Sam is a fabulous bartender, all the servers are amazing, and Chef Timothy is so sweet and fun to talk to! They have great specials and everything on the menu is to die for. They also have a deli to take fresh cut meats home, and gelato for there or to take home!! You have my (and my bf’s) heart, Nundini Chef’s Table!!!! 😍
We had a large group of friends and we had a perfect evening. Great customer service and the chef visited our table several times. It was the perfect atmosphere for our friends group as we had our Christmas celebration together. We all enjoyed the food and ambiance. Huge wine selection.
Sam the bartender makes this place our.go-to. Have about 15 friends, neighbors, and family who all come here for Sam's fantastic drinks, service, and a true happy hour 'event'.
Muy buen lugar
Excelente comida
Asombroso🤗
A favorite for great Italian Food, Wine, live music (at times), and of course the gelator is a Must to have after dinner. We also love the lunch time Panini's...they make us feel like we are back in Italy! The waitstaff and chefs treat you like family and its always great to go and have a great meal!
My girlfriend and I had heard of this place from a friend. They stated it was the best authentic Italian food in Houston (I certainly agree!). The executive chef Timothy was very welcoming and even helped us order. Highly recommend Nundini’s to anyone who’s thinking about going or looking for a new Italian spot!
We’ve dined at Nundini Chef’s Table a number of times, always loved their food, appreciated their service and the ambiance. We kind of missed their pork chops which they used to serve more often and they’re superb! Looking forward to a get together with friends there next week!
Came in for vday and had their four course meal. Everything was delicious and priced accordingly to the service/food quality. Love it!!! Would definitely eat here again <3
Truly one of the best Italian restaurants in town. Fine ingredients, some even imported from Italy. Phenomenal presentation and well crafted dishes. Unfortunately we seem to have gotten the B-team last night, and the service was nothing short of atrocious. My associates tell me that it was abnormal, so I'll be returning soon with high hopes.
We love this place! It is a hidden gem in the Heights. You’d never know by looking at the front that there is a cozy authentic Italian restaurant inside. The chef will literally come to your table and chat with you about the preparation should you ask :) my son thought he was Gordon Ramsey which was hilarious! Fantastic wine selection!!!
Friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Timothy is the BEST Chef hands down. The food is always fresh and amazing. The Deli is delicious and a must stop to take home with you. Save some room for some amazing dessert Gelato for there or to go!!!
Giampaulo’s larger than life presence can still be felt the moment you step inside and it is such a delight to continue enjoying his family’s recipes. We love toasting a glass or three at the informative wine tastings and are always glad to see familiar faces whilst filling an evening with new memories at Houston’s finest Italian restaurant.
The food is amazing, full of flavor and cooked to perfection! Good service, and great atmosphere! Owner cares and will come by your table to say hi.
Going to give a 4 star just for Isabel alone. If it was not for her running around basically taking care of the whole restaurant from front of the house, to taking our order, to even pulling a pizza out of the oven, this place would have collapsed. The food was great. I had the papardelle ragu, tasty bolognese sauce. Daughter and Mac N Cheese which was amazing for mac n cheese. Almost should be renamed as more of pasta dish the cheese was so good. But yes to add to other comments I hope they can figure out a bit more staff. The food is great they just need to ensure it is getting to the table. There were a couple lulls but again Isabel saved the evening. Kudos to her.
This is such a neat place by I-10 & heights area. I've passed by driving on N. Shepard many times and got curious. I would recommend this place for family gathering as well as dates. The inside setting/atmosphere was romantic while there was a store like setting near the bar area. The hostess and waitstaff was caring and attentive. The food was OK... I can't testify to authenticity since I've never been to Italy, but I can say the food was on bland side for my taste. I ordered the lamb chops while a friend ordered the grilled shrimps & scallops risotto. The gelato was the good. I would come back to try more gelato and other items on the menu since they have happy hour is every day 4-8PM.
Went here recently for the first time. Nice place. Nice bar area and a large selection of Italian wines. I asked for something off menu and they were very accommodating. They had a live pianist playing but unfortunately the house music system was playing as well. We asked about it and was told that the manager was the only one with access to the house system and he could not be found. Kind of disconcerting to say the least.
We used to live in the heights and it’s was one of our favorite restaurants. Last time we came was probably 2 to 3 years ago (prior to the COVID) and tonight we were a little bit disappointed. The appetizers were very good but the main course not as good as in the past. Risotto overcooked, spaghetti à la carbonara too salty, the steak was good….we were initially pleased to come back but we honestly left frustrated. The very positive point is the cellar and huge choice of wines.
Decent pizza and risotto. Cocktails are traditional made which was good. The frozen margaritas on the other hand were not good as felt like they sat in machine too long as tasted like metal and not good. Once seated which was 20 mins after reservation as think they forgot about us at bar despite being fairly empty, the service was fairly quick but besides the bartender the servers were very dry and not friendly. They definitely need to work on cleanliness of the bathrooms as well.
They have excellent service, and the wine selection is lovely. However the food was just ok to me. Everything we ordered seemed over cooked, especially the veal, parts of it were just burnt breading of a very thin cutlet. They were also out of risotto, which I was looking forward to trying, maybe next time.
I thought the atmosphere was pretty cool and I sort of felt like I was in Italy. But wow out of my party of 5, 1 person could eat their food. The best thing they had was the bread. I think this place may have lost their touch.
We've been going to Nundini since they started table service. Was always our go to place for Italian food. We had only been once in 2021 and the food was still as I always remembered. Last visit was very disappointing. Too much thick sauce on pizza, calamari no longer small rings and changed to the huge variety that was cut into chunks (if you love fried calamari you'll understand the disappointment) and one member of our party asked for medium lamb chops but got well done. Really hoping this was a fluke night with kitchen staff turnover. I'll still give it another try because I remember how consistently good the food was.
Our first visit an unfortunately the service was so disappointing , our server Leigh was either totally distracted or had no clue. We arrived at 7:00 PM and seated promptly our waitress never came by with the exception to ask what we wanted to drink, we finally flagged another waitress to place our order. We eventually asked one of the other staff if we could have some bread, In the meantime our water ran out and again still no waitress and had to ask for refills. We received our meals and very much enjoyed the food, again after delivering the food we never saw her again had to ask for togo boxed from the trainee. Again no appearance from Leigh to offer desserts which we saw upon arrival and looked really good, she just brought the check. We paid, we did tip but only 15% when our usual is 20% or more, upon leaving we discovered that gelato was an offering next to the bar which was very good and the service there was nice. To bad that we experienced such poor service as we won’t be suggesting this our friends, maybe we’ll just do takeout. BTW, the restaurant was not overcrowded so there was absolutely no reason for poor service just a shear lack of enthusiasm.
My husband liked the food. I only ordered carpaccio but for being a $17 appetizer it was only ok. The soft meat was resting on a bed of old looking arugula that didn’t taste fresh and was turning yellowish, which I left on the plate. I mentioned this to the waiter but he didn’t look worried about it. The flavor of the dish was blend.
We ordered online some pizzas for pickup. And now I know why they don't show the pizza size. $21 for a 10inch pizza is disgusting. If I'm paying that much I'm expecting a large pizza. We paid $48 total expecting to feed 4 people with 2 large pizzas. Not gonna happen with the personal pizzas we recieved instead. I'm sure it'll be good. But you guys really need to lower prices or at least put the size on the menu. Super upset at the money we spent and the serving we got.
Went here for a birthday dinner. The service was okay once they finally gave us menus which wasn’t until an hour after we had already been there. I sent my food back because it tasted awful (the carbonara). I had two friends taste it and confirm. I told the server that I didn’t want anything else, just that I didn’t want my entree, and he took it away for me. He came back with a menu and handed it to me saying “the chef apologizes and insists that you get something else”. So I said okay…sure I’ll get the spaghetti and meatballs. It tasted fine. We got the check and they charged me for the spaghetti and meatballs. I didn’t want it! The chef “insisted”, then I just had to pay full price for it. I understand that not everyone may think that’s wrong but I found it extremely tacky.
This place is not good. Service is non-existent, bartender does not know how to make any drinks (and admitted that), and the pizza was worse than anything I would make at home myself - the crust was not cooked well and very dense, a frozen pizza from the store would have been better. On top of that, the restaurant was entirely too hot, like they weren’t running the air conditioning and just trying to rely on the ceiling fans.
My pasta was way undercooked, but it took over an hour to even get the food. I was over sending it back. The pesto was runny and who wants undercooked, rubbery pasta. No bread which would have helped the ridiculous wait for food and service. Service was so slow, one waitress had the whole restaurant. I was with 6 people and 4 of us didn’t enjoy our meal. Would not come back here for any reason
Our dining experience was marked by lengthy waiting times and confusion. From the moment we placed our order to the time the food arrived at our table, we endured a wait of fifty-two minutes. The extended delay caused considerable confusion, and despite our inquiries about ordering something quick like soup to satiate our hunger, we were assured that our order was next up. Consequently, we waited an additional twenty-five minutes before our food arrived. To make matters worse, the food was served at room temperature, forcing us to send it back to the kitchen for reheating. Once the temperature of the dishes was improved, we found the taste to be subpar, with the exception of the risotto which was the only dish that met our expectations. When we sought a discount to compensate for the inconveniences we faced, we were informed that the owner had left for the evening and the executive chef would argue in return and makes matter worse. Sorry, Giompaolo Nundini, while I sympathize with the challenges of finding good staff in today's world, I am unable to justify spending my money in an establishment where dining becomes a test of patience. p.s. customers who don’t want valet in their cars due to hygiene should be accommodated to park their own car reasonably.
This ranks as one of the worst restaurant experiences of my entire life. We commented prior to going to this restaurant that we have driven past this place for 18+ years. Upon entering the parking lot, the valet stand was noticeable where it stated complimentary valet services. The restaurant is situated in a warehouse setting where it is very unclear where to park. We get inside the restaurant and there is no person at the host stand. We stand there for about 10 minutes, but there was nobody in sight. We flagged down the bar staff who finally came to seat us. Upon sitting, we go another 10 minutes before a waitress comes to get our water. We had to flag them down as well. I ordered a coke 3 different times and finally received it. After 15 minutes we received a bread basket and it looked like someone had removed all the bread and gave us a basket of crusts, very chewy and without flavor. We ordered the following items: House salad ⭐ ⭐ Caesar salad ⭐ ⭐ Cacio e pepe ⭐ Spaghetti amatriciana ⭐ Spaghetti carbonara ⭐ The salads were standard fare, nothing out of the ordinary. Pizza: We ordered a pepperoni pizza from the kids menu, but we're informed that the restaurant had run out of all pizza dough. Mind you, the restaurant was about 50% full. Cacio e pepe: We ordered this dish for our son with the waitress giving a recommendation for the dish. To preface, we have had cacio e pepe in a Michelin star restaurant in Rome and all over the world including well established restaurants in Houston. The dish had a rancid smell and upon all of us trying one bite, we instantly felt nauseous and completely lost our appetite. It was literally one of the worst forms of edible forms, ever ingested. Spaghetti amatriciana: The dish had a light marinara sauce, that had the consistency of water. The flavor was nullified by the over watered down consistency. Spaghetti carbonara: The sauce was egg based, which I have had before. The sauce was literally runny like water rather than creamy. The sauce was transparent rather than opaque. The guaniciale was burnt to a crisp. Manager: We called the manager to return the cacio e pepe based on its rancid smell and taste. The manager/line cook argued vehemently stating it was supposed to taste sour. After a 3 minute argument, we stated we wanted to return the dish. In each of our dishes we were justified in wanting to return the food, the manager/cook did not take a course in customer hospitality and service, clearly intending to argue about the origins of food. All in all, we returned all dishes and paid the bill for the salad. Valet: I am normally a very generous tipper, however when a valet or any server asks for a tip....before I have a chance to pay, it is a complete sign of disrespect. By the way, complimentary valet leaves tipping at the discretion of the customer. Especially, when we have walked out of the restaurant, and the valet literally parked the car 20 min prior. I informed him that we will be leaving immediately and that I did not appreciate his aggressive behavior. Experience and summary: Restaurant and cleanliness ⭐ Service ⭐ Food quality ⭐ Customer Relations ⭐ We won't be back.
Worst service ever! No bartender on a Saturday night and the wait staff was rude and inattentive. The place was not even busy yet we waited for 20 minutes before they ever took our orders. Then, after 1 hour, they finally started bringing our dishes. After that long wait, the waiter informed one of our guests that they were out of veal. What? You didn’t know this an hour ago so she could order something else?! That was inexcusable! The two different steaks they offer were awful! One was so rubbery you could barely chew it and the other was mostly big chunks of fat and gristle. We ordered Angus steak not rubbery fat and gristle! Not one time during this fiasco of a night did a manager or anyone in charge stop by our table to check on us or apologize. We had to track down our waiter for the checks. He brought them but just set them down in a stack and walked off. Rude! Then, he returned with our paid checks and set them all down and walked away. Not a Thank you or anything was said either time. Rude again! It’s not our fault if you’re understaffed. It does not give you an excuse to be rude. We were nothing but polite guests even with the poor service.
HORRIBLE, They only have very simple options to choose from. I got a simple Pasta with grilled chicken Fettuccine sauce, the sauce was bland, the chicken was burnt and charred and the noodles were something from the $1 store. My husband makes this plate at home all the time and I'm always licking the place. Restaurants are supposed to be so good at what they make, this is why they can sell it. I paid $37 for a LUNCH special and had to go and buy me something else to eat after we left because I did not enjoy anything about this meal. My coworker ordered the same dish and she also had the same experience with her plate as well. I'm so over these places charging and arm and a leg of our hard earned money, yet serving us less than par food. Same your money and eat somewhere cheaper but has flavor. then they charged a 20% gratuity
Food was good! Service was terrible!!! We had reservations at 7:00. We got seated 35 mins later. We placed a drink order at the bar when we arrived. We got the drinks 55 mins later after complaining. They are seriously understaffed! I cannot come back until they staff up. The first time we had a bad experience I chalked it up to a bad night. Because the food was good, we gave it another try. After talking with the manager and registering a complaint and asking for some sort of compensation, we received nothing. There are equally good options with superior service in the area. Dont come unless you are willing to wait 2 hours for a simple meal.
I came here 11/19/2024 with some friends and what I thought was going to be a good lunch turned out to be the worst lunch I have ever encountered. I got Fettuccine alla Panna with chicken, the chicken was burnt and dry, the pasta was not home made but taste like store bought. I will never ever come to eat here again. If I could give no stars I would, and I want my money back. I was very disappointed with them and think they should go out of business, that's why the parking lot was empty.
Last time I came here and ordered the Veal Osso Buco, which for a $30+ entree, you would expect real crab to be served with it as that’s what the menu says right? Nope. I was served a frozen, poorly cooked veal and frickin KANI - the fake crab they put in cheap sushi. We also ordered the octopus and watched it sit at the expo window for 30 minutes before it was brought to us. We called this out and sent it back as we didn’t order cold octopus. Horrible corner cutting by this place and they are struggling to staff it. The service by the waitstaff is also abysmal. We used to come here because it was a hidden gem, but now it’s just another failing cash grab Italian place that are a dime a dozen here in Houston. Something changed 2ish years ago here and it’s been downhill ever since. They also keep re-adding me to their email newsletter even though I have unsubscribed multiple times. Save your time and money. Go to Grotto or Mia’s Table where the food is consistently better and the same, if not better pricing. So sad to see what this place has become. It used to be so good but the fake crab sold to me as real will forever be a stain on this place.
My biggest complaint is they have a "complimentary" valet that places cones in all the parking spaces near the front of the restaurant. They leave the customer no choice as to parking. Either give the car to the valet or park it yourself behind the restaurant. I'm not going back there again for this reason alone. How many other customers have they lost that feel the same way I do ? I eat out almost every night. I live and work in the Heights so I'm always looking for new places to eat or giving old places a 2nd chance. The rest of this review was done 2 years ago. Wine was good. Bread was good. They use real Olive oil for dipping. I had a pasta dish, not so good. Fucilli pasta was terrible. Over cooked and a very odd shape which I didn't like. It's the 3rd time I've tried this place and every time the food disappointed. I want it to be better.
My friend has been recommending Nundini Chef Table to me for a while, and since I pass by it often while running errands, I was excited to finally give it a try. We chose to sit at the bar to check out their drink menu, and I ordered a tiramisu martini, which turned out to be one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. It was smooth, flavorful, and really set high expectations for the rest of the experience. I was told the soup of the day was tomato bisque, which I love, so I ordered that along with a carbonara entree. But when the soup arrived, it was actually a potato soup. I politely declined it, letting the waitress know that I don’t like potato soup. However, she insisted, several times, that I should try it, saying she would personally pay for it if I didn’t like it. Even after I explained that I was completely fine going without soup, she kept pushing, and it started to make me feel uncomfortable and even a bit guilty, as if I were being difficult for not accepting it. Then a man sitting nearby, who said he was a chef there, jumped into the conversation to also encourage me to try the soup. This put me in the awkward position of having to explain to a stranger why I didn’t want it. It felt unprofessional and intrusive, especially after I had already clearly declined. By the time my carbonara arrived, I’d lost my appetite a bit. I had a few bites, paid my bill, and tipped my bartender 20%. While the drink and menu looked promising, the pushiness from the staff left a bad taste in my mouth, figuratively speaking. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
2 stars - after 1 year I decided to visit again: Here is my review... service was bad, waiter and waiters were all over the place, not properly trained to serve, food was so so , ordered a seafood pasta plate and mussels were missing from the 🐚 shell. Waiter was not very attentive, apologizing for the food delay. Another waiter came to our table and picked up the empty glasses of wine not asking if we wanted to order another glass...dessert time came along and the cream brulee was awful in taste not fresh. All chefs were all over the place making orders but they looked puzzled. All the waiters were kind of lost walking everywhere. Not going back, the restaurant lost its quality of service and taste of food.
Wife saw a rat on the floor near the wine cellars. They are covered in rat fecal matter. The server was polite and helpful. We will never go back. No idea how the rating is so high. Praying I don’t get sick tonight.
