I love this bar so much. The outside patio’s revamp is so fab too (ok I hadn’t been in a while!)
Go there at least once a week! Great staff! Friendly atmosphere! Great music! Karoke every other Thursday!
Great atmosphere, affordable drinks & really enjoyed the DJ last Friday night.
My fav bar so far. Amazing attendance and great place to be with friends. LGBTQIAPNb+ friendly
Excellent queer bar with a pool table - what more could you ask for?
sadly, this bar is still closed :( me and me girlfriend walk here every few weekends because the google page says open - please save your time and wait until maybe it's possible to call. really hope they open back up soon!
Sick queer bar. Great back patio and great vibes. Pool table!
Cool staff, nice company and really awesome pool players.
A cozy queer dive, with a chill atmosphere and a great crowd. Lovely garden out back, when the weather is nice.
Love the friendly atmosphere. I’ve met so many cool folks here.
Vibes is very chill. Nice outdoor area. Affordable drinks
I went there alone and had a drink and sat there watching the crowd grew and not long after people were smiling and chatting with me. I met some awesome people played pool, sing along and danced ... Bartenders were super nice.
Great decor, amazing vibe, excellent service. The back outdoor area is lovely too. Came here for a mixer but would definitely come by just for drinks next time I'm in the neighborhood.
My favorite queer bar in the city. Love the patio out back and the bartenders are always so nice and friendly. I appreciate non alc options on the menu too
Always a fun time at Gingers. Its cash only! so come prepared. The pool table in the back is fun and you can end up in a dance contest if youre feeling free
The bartender was so nice to me and my wife and I got a good lil buzz before we left For dinner 🖤🖤🖤
Excellent service and very chilled atmosphere. Leo specifically is an awesome bartend. Great drinks and good conversation! Will definitely be back :))
Awesome lesbian bar in Park Slope. One of the few left in the city. The back area is huge, has a backyard and has plenty of spaces to sit down and chill.
Lovely ambience here. Quite spacious too, and great prices on drinks. Patio out back is really cute.
Great space, friendly bar tenders, can't comment on the drinks because I haven't had any. Really enjoyed karaoke night!
Tap about average price wise but C**** lite was 2.50 at 330 pm Sat. Cash only bar .Always ask for happy hour specials
Fun place to be, great staff. Can be busy at times, but doesn't seem to bother other people (I'm fairly anti-social). Love Sheila the owner.
Awesome place. Great mixed crowd. All gender expressions allowed! :D great drinks. Cozy atmosphere.
Sheila's spot is back and better than ever. Fun LGBTQIA+ bar with pool table and outdoor garden. Cash only.
The bar was cash only. Had a great time reuniting with old friends. Great drinks and everyone was friendly
Came here for the first time on Monster Movie Monday and saw Jennifer’s Body. Great vibes. Cute place.
One of my favorite spots and an iconic bar in Brooklyn!!
It was good I was invited for the first time definitely good home-made pizza from the dough to the drinks, pretty awesome 👌😎
Huge space. Indoor and outdoor seating. Jukebox and pool table. Lgbtq safe space. I've been here plenty and never leave disappointed.
Had a smashing night there! Can we have a bar like that in every major city in this world? Yes please?
Cash only but I love this bar so much. They often have DJs on the weekends and support so many cool movements. It will forever be my safe space even though I moved from the city.
CASH ONLY- Ginger's feels like a sanctuary and I'm so grateful for it. Gritty but warm, feels like walking into a piece of history. The patio out back that was finished this summer is one of my favorite places at night. Everyone's friendly, bar is well stocked, and vibes are good. Definitely a safe space.
first time at gingers & wont be my last, great drinks, amazing folks, AND a back yard w heat lamps. All good vibes Cash only but they have an atm
I have been here twice, and both experiences were good plus enjoyable. Cool staff and I have always ran into friendly patrons in this establishment. If you are looking to just chill and mind your business, no one will harass you. I recommend Ginger's Bar if you are in the Park Slope area. Oh if you are a bigot and intolerant of others who are proud of their sexuality and own it. Do not come here.
Everyone in this bar was so incredibly friendly! Fun people flock here to dance and hang out with no matter who you are. Pool table inside and a cute yard with seating outside. Yard open later than most. Keep you music choices upbeat if you hit the jukebox!
Ginger's has always been my home away from home. It's been my go-to place to be in a fun, safe, queer space since I moved to New York 10 years ago. There is a difference between hanging with queer friends in a straight space and hanging with queer friends in a queer space. The service has always been incredible, the staff have always been wonderful, and the venue (especially in the backyard!) has been so perfectly curated to meet friends, take first dates, or just have a drink among friendly strangers without feeling out of place or unwanted. Ginger's is critical to the queer scene in Brooklyn and I can't wait to be back.
My friends and I used to come here every weekend, I moved for work so I don't get to go as often. But every time I come home I stop by. Possibly the best LGBT bar in Bk... used to be all lesbian, but I'm thinking the crowd has expanded lol. Great music and drinks tho.
I absolutely LOVED my time in Ginger's Bar with my little Amorcita! The establishment was clean and appealing. There was a birthday party going on in the back and revelers relishing a game of pool. I perched in the Diva's Den chair and smiled at the friendly stream of passing faces! And the music was great!
Feels like an old time bar for lesbians. Cheap happy hour drinks, attentive bar tender, $1 pool games. Really chill vibe. Don't order mixed drinks though, stick to bottled beer or what's on tap. Fun jukebox music.
So glad my friend brought me here. Now I feel like I have a safe, fun place to go, even if I am alone. It is cash only but they have an ATM. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Come play some pool with us!
One of the last remaining lesbian bars in the United States, located in the charming neighborhood of Park Slope Brooklyn. Frequently hosts queer events but every night is great. Ramen place just down the block (with vegan options!) makes for a perfect full evening out.
I love this bar. It’s diverse and inclusive. It has a very laid back feel and it’s very sociable and easy to speak with people and make new friends. Even a shy person would be easily befriended in this warm environment. Thanks Gingers!
Quiet, bartender warm, nice and not stuck up when I asked to just use bathroom and converse briefly. Loved hearing that they are still around despite the pandemic and the resulting hardship of business pressures. Going stronger than ever! Hip hip hurray!!!!!
Love this place! One of the few lesbian bars left in the city, and it seems like business is booming. Laid back vibe, friendly staff and clientele, really enjoy going here with my partner and friends.
A cool chill relaxing spot for a good evening . The bartenders are friends and atmosphere is open, i like that they have a backyard , pool table in the back andnice open areas to dance and even tables to sit and chill, definitely a place ill be back to and recommend
A staple bar for the lgbt community and A MUST for any lesbian/gay traveller. Great vibe, affordable drinks, friendly staff and diverse crowd. Also, a there's a really cute outdoor space for the warmer months, which is rare in Brooklyn.
Great bar, good prices and nice staff 👍 will be back before we go home! Special mention to the Spurs fan bartender who we had a good chat with 👍
The place is charming, and the staff were friendly. I had a paloma and a tequila sunrise, both were delicious (and strong.) I am a gay man and I felt welcomed, however I only came with one other female friend because she wanted to check it out. There is also a charming and spacious outdoor space in the back. There are many great places in the area to grab a bite, not sure if the bar had food or not - wasn't looking for it. Cash only bar, but there is an ATM.
Ginger's bar is a classic! you can't go wrong here. It's a bit hard to get to from the train (maybe a 10 minute walk) but totally worth it. Bars like this need to be supported and protected at all costs!
I love Ginger's. I came here with my new wife and two best friends / witnesses after getting married last year, and I hosted my top surgery celebration (tata to my tatas) here last week. It was the perfect place to toast two very important moments of my gay little life. A wonderful, warm atmosphere, decent drinks prices and happy hour, lovely little garden, and great events and pool table. I love the bartenders here too, who are always friendly and chatty. I would implore you to bring your dates, new wives, best friends, family and colleagues here to celebrate events big and small - and you can email them to easily make a resrvation, and bring your own food in too.
My girlfriend and I went here several times on our trip to NYC and it was our favorite bar of the ones we visited. Their drinks are very reasonably priced (cash-only, but there is an ATM inside) and the staff is very friendly. The vibes and decorations are great and you see a wonderful mixture of women there (it's not strictly young, old, fem, butch, etc.). The music isn't overbearingly loud, the drink names are fun, and the outdoor seating out back is quite nice. My only concern is that the maintenance is a bit lacking. In one of the bathrooms, I noticed that the door frame had taken quite a beating, and you can see that there are two layers of tiles on the floor because the top layer has broken off in some parts. Not that I expect perfection (especially in a bar with cheap drinks), but I do worry some of the deferred maintenance on display will create a serious repair bill in the future that would be much cheaper to deal with now. Also, the pay phone doesn't work.
One of my favorite bars! The outside area is so nice and so are the people who work here.
this is the best bar, I was there when the Liberty won the championship the celebration was incredible the vibes are exactly what you want out of a bar for lesbians it is the best space, and it is inclusive, every time I go there I feel at home in my community, I moved away from New York but I have and will continue to make it a point to visit whenever I return
I’ve checked and noticed that you don’t have a website. I think having one would be great for your café’s vibe, making it easier for customers to explore your menu, ambiance, and updates online! Feel free to connect if you’d like to discuss how to bring it to life!
Cash only, queer friendly dive bar with nice people and strong cocktails
Very jovial place and welcomes everyone! Had great times in a low key spot. Low key as in chill, not the great history of gingers as a Park Slope institution. That's why we love it!
I don’t even drink & wear this bar’s hat with pride. Community-driven events, fun dancing, always the best energy. Home sweet home.
Love this place. Very welcoming to queer people of all kinds. Great bar staff and amazing backyard.
Thank you Kaley for absolutely making my night! Such a safe and inclusive space, really feel at home at Ginger's and can't wait to return. Perfectly made drinks, curated atmosphere with lovely staff and excellent vibes. Thank you for a lovely park slope recluse!
This is my second home. The pool regulars are great and it’s a wonderful place to work on your game. Trivia is monthly and really fun. I came here the day after the election and it was such a safe and positive place to be. I looked up from my pool game and saw smiles and laughing and knew that was exactly what I needed that day. The staff and other regulars have become my friends, and I’m really happy to be a part of this community.
Love to come here with friends! The service is ….. interesting? But I’m sure it’s because the staff probably puts up with a lot. Don’t let that get in the way of having a good time though! I still give it 5 stars because it’s a place we always have a nice time at, I like that they have a pool table and outdoor seating. The people working door are always sweet and most of the bartenders are decent. I would recommend coming with friends to hang out after work.
I love the vibe of this bar. The service was good. I totally support Ginger's. We need more places like these in the area.
This is one of the popular bars among my friends, I didn't like the annoying staff, the atmosphere is not bad, and so I won't give 4 less.
Everyone seems to get along at this local Park Slope favorite. Park Slope prices. Conveniently located near transportation. B-63 and R-train. Come and check it out. You'll have a good time.
Wow, nice experience..woman off the hook. Get there early, and it gets crowded, plus a long line to get inside...limted wear.. Adults only. Everyone respects each other boundaries..
Cool.. low key bar. Backyard patio. Plenty of ladies. Cool vibes. Cash only.
Come early for the happy hour and a seat in their really nice open backyard, or pick up a pool game with one of the regulars. Everyone is welcomed with open arms.
always a great time, drinks are reasonably priced, there's ample space to either hang on the back patio, play pool, or sit at the bar and talk. it's missing a DJ on fri/sat nights and is cash only but will be one of my local spots
Ginger's is a solid sapphic bar with regular cultural events. The only downside is that they are cash only
Decent place. Crowd is kind of young. Better than some places in the city. A bit more welcoming for trans folks, but not very diverse. The drag shows are ok.
I liked the place, weekday, for a beer. Took off a star because when you want to go out and escape the mambo jumbo…. The last thing you need is Zoran and that smile staring at you all night. Politics don’t belong in bars … just sayin
This unassuming bar exudes an energetic atmosphere! It's LGBTQ friendly and operates on a cash-only basis. I adore the expansive backyard area—perfect for relaxed conversations and enjoying a drink. Inside, the space is elongated, featuring bar seating and high tables. Both the staff and patrons are exceptionally welcoming!
Such a cool bar! But the bartender working was incredibly rude and condescending. Super disappointing since there aren’t a many safe places for queer woman and I personally felt unwelcome the entire night. :(
Just a heads up they still ask for vax cards 😒. We hated to support that discrimination but still went in and had a beer. Bartenders were great and the space takes you back to a lodge at an old resort on a lake. Very lovely!
no Guinness on tap 😭😭 with guinness signs EVERYWHERE! didn't realize it was cash only - my friend and I had our beers physically taken away from us while I mentioned that I needed to run to the ATM, which felt a touch overdramatic. the bartender also didn't bother to mention that there was actually an ATM right behind us as they were so preoccupied with taking away our beers.. cute spot though, I loved the patio in the back and the pool table.
A beautiful atmosphere…. It’s somewhere I could definitely see myself wanting to hang out. However, I walked in and quickly realized I was the only black person and it was HUGE turn off…. I did have hope that as the oldest lesbian bar it would feel more diverse. Just a heads up if you’re a black queer person exploring new spaces. Come with friends?
FYI, this bar does not stay open late on Mon-Weds. I paid for an Uber all the way out there because Google hours are listed as closing 4am. I arrived at 2 am and was turned away.
Overpriced and underpoured. As a longtime patron of the Cubbyhole, I was excited to visit the resurrection of Gingers. Unfortunately, it seems the owners are more interested in profits than community as the drinks are incredibly overpriced and underpoured. I traveled 30 mins out of my way to try this bar - it will be the first and last time. Lesbians deserve a bar that’s a safe place. Unfortunately this is not it. Thank you AND next.
The waiter was really rude, gave us the finger and told us to f...off because we did not tip. I have never experienced anything like that before.
Ginger's Bar's patrons are the neighborhood terrorists. Screaming and yelling at 3-4am every single night near closing. The bartenders ignore the phone, and when asked to keep it down in person, the drunken customers are belligerent and indignant. They've set off a car alarm, had verbal shouting matches, and obviously were driving home drunk. They also delete negative reviews about their behavior on facebook.
gingers used to be a fun diverse bar but i had a couple racist experiences and idk if i’ll be going back! very white space. if gingers wants to be a more welcoming space POC, they should reach out to QTPOC community to hold events and parties there
Hi, To the owner of Ginger's Bar. I came in yesterday around 6pm, a Tuesday evening for Happy Hour with my best friend to shoot some pool and have a drink. This was my 2nd time at Ginger's. My friend and I are not impressed at all. You have a great space, awesome location too however, the whole vibe is wrong. First, why have a man bartending for Happy Hour? You need a hot woman Artist like myself with a following to be behind your Bar during Happy Hour. No lesbian wants to see an old troll behind a lesbian Bar in Downtown Brooklyn. The music is not free either!!! What the heck is this all about? 1.00 per song on Juke Box really? Please get it together at Ginger's Bar. I would love an opportunity to step up your game and show you how to pack the place and make real money. Please feel free to contact me.
One would think that this was a safe space, all things considering. But at the end of the day, it clearly is not and there is differential treatment based on, may I dare say...skin color or whatever their issue was that caused them to be passive aggressive towards me and my date. I had a very disturbing experience there last night and when I tired to explain to the bartender why I was unhappy with the service considering I'm paying $15 dollars a cocktail, zoe I believe their name was, was unapologetic and they tried to shift the blame as if I did something wrong or in their words "you should have said something earlier and I could have moved you to another part of the bar" ???? (Why would I be responsible to do anything besides pay, respect the space, and have a good time?) I work in the industry and know standards of service, so this made no sense considering what happened: We wanted a final drink so we sat at the end of the bar near the door, waited at least 15 minutes before even catching the eyes of "zoe" until they finally came over and thanked us for waiting. Fine, i get it, there was just a surge so we were understanding of that and appreciated being acknowledged for waiting. But as we were sitting there trying to enjoy our cocktails and talk intimately, the Doorperson/barback began aggressively stacking dirty used glasses in front of, next to, and around our fresh drinks and me and my date for at least 20 minutes as they cleaned up from the rush that cleared out. Key work is "cleared out". Why in Gods name, when it is an empty bar at this point would you decide to start rudely reaching over and stacking 4/5 cups high of disgusting used glasses around and in front of paying patrons? Review your camera's, I'm not exaggerating. Why isn't there a professional protocol about bussing dishing respectfully and in a sanitary manor? Why was there no bus pan at the end of the bar in a discrete place? Why out of all the open space on that long bar, are you slamming dirty dishes next to me, not only stacking them, but slamming them hard and aggressively? Not even saying "pardon my reach" and reaching over us as if we didn't exist? Who wants to go out for a nice drink at the bar and have to deal with that? clanking glasses and being surrounded by empties because the barback has no consideration or respect? Why did they think that was ok to do in front of me? This was ABSURD to say the least. It got to the point that even my date noticed and felt awkward and unwelcomed. I'm sorry if you didn't like the way we looked or you had an issue with an interracial relationship or an issue with POC (but now as I read reviews I see there is a problem for POC here) or whatever your their problem was but that is not the service we deserved after paying premium prices on drinks only to be surrounded by filthily dishes with no consideration for our experience. I left and but came back to ask the name of the manager and I was told to go to the website, and again, not even apologized to. Additionally zoe tried to excuse this barbacks behavior by saying their the door person just acting as a barback today because we're understaffed. That's fine, but don't allow them to have a cross over role if they don't know how to do it respectfully. Zoe also kept loudly saying "she" referring to the door person trying to insinuate that I had purposely mis-gendered them. Zoe literally was trying to again, make me out to be the bad guy when all I was hoping for was a simple apology and acknowledgment of the poor experience. What a shame of an experience to be honest, on a day like yesterday, the day after election day, to deal with this sort of pompous attitude and extremely passive aggressive taunting from the barback/doorperson. But of course I'm the bad guy right? SMH, sadly I would personally stand clear from this place if you don't look the part. The bar staff needs to be retrained on being welcoming, professional and accommodating. But hey, Queer space or not...this is America after all.
Cash only, slow service, no seating. Not a very diverse clientele. One pool table that you may wait an hour+ for.
No diversity at all. If you’re poc-lgbtq you’re going to feel out of place. Not inviting, bar tenders don’t look like they like want to be there. Granted I was here alone but I went a couple miles down to another lgbt bar alone that was recommended by a friend to be lgbtqpoc friendly and I had much better time there.
All of the nem, especially the ones cosplaying, made me extremely uncomfortable. I am excluded due to their presence in a place where I am the one who belongs and I should be able to feel welcome around only other wonem. It’s horrific.
My friends and I went to Ginger’s earlier today after the pride parade in Manhattan. It had a great atmosphere and drinks. We wound up leaving to get food and were told we were welcome back to eat our food there as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. When we came back we were let in by the bouncer, but the bar tender called us over to re-check my friends ID. They asked her a bunch of questions related to her age and she answered every single one correctly but we were still kicked out. The bar tender was condescending and made a completely unnecessary comment to my friend. We’re turning 25 this year… They handled this unprofessionally and didn’t even use an ID scanner to verify the validity of it. It was very confusing because when we were in earlier, we were served alcohol without our IDs being checked by a different bar tender. I wish we had a better experience. The bar had a lot of potential.
Went here yesterday for my birthday, it’s not my first time here but yesterday there was an incident where a worker there was being disrespectful. She had black glasses with an accent. She was unprofessional and did not have to talk to us the way she did but anyways if you come here watch out for her, her arrogance was nasty . I’m not coming here ever again.
