Absolutely love the chicken express in lufkin! I have never had a bad experience with them- the manager is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and works day in/day out. Some days even alone… she definitely needs a raise.

My food was very delicious my tenders were outstanding 🤤 oh the rolls are soft and so delicious with the butter everything was great Big ups to the staff the cashier Zae was very nice and respectful and also the other young lady Nayla at the drive thru window was very helpful and kind they are always kind young ladies everytime I come. All of the staff are awesome great job guys the place is always clean. Keep up the good work guys.

Always our Tuesday hangout. Food was hot and fresh, but today 7/5/22, the staff was off point. Food items left off our indoor meals. I hated to keep asking for items, so the receptionist, said" anything else", in her rude attitude voice.A drumstick I had was too crusty to the bone, I returned it, and received something better..some people had to wait a couple of minutes for their large orders.they were rushing. Lack of teamwork, and complaints by the staff heard by customers .

In my opinion… Chicken Express has the best tenders and customer service in town. They listen to their customers and definitely put customers first. Also who can’t beat the Happy Hour drinks for .50 cents!!!!

AMAZING location. We had a huge order for our office and Suzy knocked it out of the park! We called ahead of time, she had it all ready and individually sacked for each person. We've always had great food and service here, but that day was the cherry on top! Highly recommend this location! Food is always A+++ and service is just as good!

Stopped in for the Tuesday meal special. Was greeted as I walked in and order was taken promptly. Hardly a wait time and I was on my way Home. Chicken was amazing as always. Love the biscuits.

Hard to go wrong ordering here but just a few tips I been coming to this place for years. Everything on the menu is usually fresh and always flavorful especially the chicken and fried fish. Except a two sides but it's not the location its just a chicken express thing nationwide. Stay away from the Mac N Cheese and Green Beans. The rolls are really good too reminds me of Ame's Chicken years back. If you havent been go check them out.

I got the fish & it was great. It's one of my favorites now. It was a 2pc fish (but I ate a piece b4 the pic) w/breaded okra, & hushpuppies meal...& a 2pc chicken breast/wing w/breaded okra, & roll meal.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Placed an order over the phone on the way there, was ready and correct when I got to the drive-thru 🤷‍♂️ Line moved at a decent pace, employees were polite. Only thing I'd change was the price LOL, but I knew what I was ordering when I ordered it ha.

This continues to be my all time favorite chicken franchise and this location has been a regular stop on our trips from Houston to North East Texas. Fresh and tasty. Clean and accommodating.

Good food, good service. I wish they had some low-carb options. Seating is somewhat limited also. Booths are rather small so before I lost weight I didn't fit.

I heard they had good fried fish. They had fish it was not good. Very high for what you get. Not burnt but definitely overcooked. To much cornmeal. Would not recommend.

Well I guess these guys get four stars across the board just worked out like that didn't realize but like others I have mentioned when they are good they're good when they're bad they're horrible we love to come through get the fried pickles tea and corn nuggets me and the wife when we're out and about for a little snack we got chicken strips the other day and I guarantee you I thought I had my dogs chew toy you guys need to pay attention to how long your chicken stays under that heat lamp after so long it just turns into a dry nasty stick please don't do us like that again because we love you so much we just want you to love us back we'll be back manager was very nice and took care of us so that's a plus and the new guy with the gold teeth that just started great guy y'all hold on to him!!!

Chicken was not breaded well. Legs were just about bare of crust. Roll was completely flat. I chose only gravy on recommended dishes because what I ordered- 3 piece dark- was not a choice. Mashed potatoes & gravy was very good. Bone in thigh was very good as well.

Chicken had a very nice flavor, the batter was just the right amount of crispy and greasy but not too overbearing. Got the Mac n cheese and it was nothing special, just regular Mac n cheese. The roll was very tasty and super soft and warm. Will definitely come back again sometime

Prices are a bit much but for the quality it's worth it. Drive-thru time wasn't too bad and the food was still fresh. (Went early morning) 2025 Went for dinner and the cars were piled. Thank you guys for getting us in and out. I didn’t even have to wait for fish! You are appreciated. Keep on killing it!

I really enjoyed Chicken Express on my last visit. The food was a little slow because of the buses coming through, but it was good food. The lobby could use a little repair, but everyone enjoyed what they ordered.

I went to the drive-thru and ended up going somewhere else. Was not about to pay $70 for chicken! They're sweet tea and corn nuggets are amazing though!

I'm not a big fan of Chicken Express. The food is alright. I hate that every location smells like cleaning chemicals. It's a very clean place though. They have the best sweet tea though. That's my favorite thing. The customer service is good.

I have always enjoyed all the Chicken Express Stores I have visited, and I have visited through out Texas until my (several) visits to your Lufkin Location. My issue isyou have one lady working the Counter up front taking orders during the Day Shift that would be better working in the back of the House and not waiting on Guests due to her very very dry personality and almost rude behavior. I will continue to dine with you because I enjoy your Product.

The food I received tasted good. I was missing some food and was asked to wait. No one came with my food and argued among themselves about my order. I have gone to this location many times before and it was great.

Stopping by as passing through. Spouse and I ordered 2 combos. Only got one combo and fries and a drink. When we asked where the tenders were, we were told the employees had already fixed their plates for the evening and the dryers were off to make more. It was 9:20pm when the order was placed. No other cars here. As you can see they close at 10pm. Why are employees making plates to take home well before closing?? I’m all for taking care of your employees but this still came across as strange. Okra tasted burnt and hard. Not sure if stop again and I come through Lufkin frequently.

I sat in the drive thru line for 45 minutes & I’m still missing part of my order. I had a big order so I didn’t check the boxes because there was 8 boxes and I had already been there 45 minutes.

First I asked for a senior discount and they said ok but did not give it to me. All of the food was room temperature, even the gravy in a styrofoam container. The chicken was dried out and tasted like it had set around for an hour or more. The gravy tasted like paste with flour in it, yuck. The diet Dr. Pepper was watery. All in all poor is the best I can say.

We have ate here alot, but the food has gotten worse. On our last visit the rolls were burnt and the chicken was pink. We had to finish cooking our chicken when we got home. The fried okra was still pretty good.

My husband and I have been to this location before, it was better than this visit, needless to say we probably won't be going back. My husband ordered the tenders, they were over cooked and stringy. He took them back and the did redo his order about 20 min later. The new order looked better but had a weird smell and taste like the oil they were cooked in was burnt and they needed to clean out the fryer.

Went through the drive through. Oh my gosh what a nightmare. Appreciate the person taking my order I could hear them but the head set they were using the person could not hear my order. Then on top of that the card reader absolutely does not like certain payment methods. Finally worked on the 4th card I had for use of payment

I usually will come here from time to time and sometimes the food and tenders are good and sometimes it isn’t. Well, tonight, the tenders weren’t at all the best. Just mostly had the batter on them and lesser white meat. And the tenders were also so greasy. Hope I don’t get sick from it all. I’m always looking for something fresh to eat. Well, I didn’t see that. I think it’s the worst of all of my visits here at this establishment. But my roll, gravy, and Diet Dr. Pepper came out great. And the young girl wasn’t rude, but I could tell she was so tired and was ready for the day to come to an end. And, sorry, but I also noticed they shut their blinds on all of their windows at night, looking like they just don’t want to serve their customers at night when they are busting their rear ends trying to get their closing chores done so they could get the hell on out of there for the evening. This is unmanageable! And my parents agree too on how horrible the service is getting at this establishment. If you ppl want to dine in at a better Chicken E place, the one in Livingston looks like a clean place to eat out at.

I should start by saying that I usually LOVE Chicken Express! And we came a bit close to closing, so I tried to give these guys a break. But the chicken strips were stale, room temperature and a bit fishy tasting. The mashed potatoes were SUPER runny. Seriously.. You could drink them. The livers were a few minute wait, which I don't mind at all, because I prefer them freshly cooked. But they were a nearly burnt when they came out. We ordered the jalapeno poppers, which were not in the bag with the rest of our order. We then had to wait for those to cook. They came out very undercooked. I would've rated this place with one star if not for the extremely helpful staff member, who noticed we were still parked out front and came to ask if things were alright. He was patient and attentive. He traded out our potatoes, with some that could be eaten. And he brought back out the poppers, once they were cooked. Or semi cooked should I say. His service was 4.5 stars. And would've been 5, had he checked the poppers before bring them out, to be sure they were completely cooked.

We bought a lot of chicken on Saturday, 3-29-25 .The chicken was awful.looked like it had been cooked in old oil cause chicken was really dark and breasts had some spots looked almost burned. The breast were so dry it was like eating a bad piece of jerky. Other pieces were dry also but the white meat was really BAD. I may have to change chicken places even though I like the taste of Chicken Express. To expensive to get dried chicken jerky.

I'm not usually one to share a bad review but the service I received today was unacceptable. When ordering my food the woman on the intercom was rushing me, dismissive, talking over me, and not listening to her customer. When I tried to correct a misunderstanding towards my order she didn't seem to care and left it as is. When I got to the window to pay, a different woman told me the amount. I asked her to check the order and told her what I wanted. She glanced at the order and said yeah. I paid but felt very uneasy about it. When a 3rd person gave me my order I checked it and saw that the miscommunication hadn't been resolved, but they closed the windows before I could say anything. It was a good minute or 2 before they noticed me still at the window. A young woman (I'm assuming was the manager) came to the window and I explained the issue. She was very hostile acting and her reaction implied I was just trying to get more food for free so I told her I never mind paying for the extras... I tried to do that originally. As she was charging my card for them, I heard another girl from the back comment that "she's still here!" which then I saw several eye rolls. I realize dealing with customers is NOT the easiest as I've worked customer service for most of my working career, but I don't feel I should have received the treatment I got from MULTIPLE workers. Doubt we will be eating here again... I know I won't.

What has happened to this location? The regular tenders have no flavor, the chicken is tough and stringy and the batter is thick and hard. The fried pickles and okra are greasy. This used to be the best chicken in town, the last three times, not so much. Now it's just spendy. The rolls are still delicious, but not enough to keep us coming back.

Went through the drive through tonight at about 630pm to get the monthly special. Service was great as always. When we got the food to the house, the tenders and mixed chicken looked and tasted like it had been sitting there for several hours. We have never had this problem before.

As usual the service is bad. Went to pick up meals. Got home no rolls and the chicken was not hot. Called manager and first excuse was "we were busy", I responded back that I was the only one in line and there was no in the store (wonder why?) The manager said I could come back for the rolls or she would put my name in the book for 2 rolls. This is ridiculous, you pay for food and service and it neither meets standard or the staff and management does not care. I will not visit this establishment again.

Visiting my in-laws in Lufkin today, decided to get lunch from this place today 8/22/19, purchased food thru drive thru only to drive away and open to see strings of hair on my Chicken...how disappointing. Turned around to return it on the inside only to find none of the workers in hair nets, the cashier looking at the chicken as if she don’t see the STRINGS of brown hair on top of my chicken. Gave me a refund..... I “Loved” that place...should I ever go back I will go inside to see my food before driving off.

Chicken Express in Lufkin Texas gave the worst service today 1/4/2019 around 3:00pm, that I have seen in my 70yrs. I ordered 8 pieces all white. They said I wound take 0:15 minutes which I was ok with. After 30 minutes watching other people getting chicken, I went to counter to see about my order. I was told they forgot to drop the wings it would be another 0:05 minutes. I said give me something else. Silence! So I asked for the manager. She just looked at me. Silence! So I ask for my money back. Silence! Mine you they were giving chicken out this hole time. All the trays were full, they had plenty of chicken just no wings. So I said stop the line till I get my money back. Silence! So I started tapping my car keys on the counter demanding my money back. Finally someone came over and give me my money back. I asked I can't even get an apology. Silence!!! . Don't take my word for it look at the surveillance tap. I have never said that anyone needs to be fired, but I don't think more training will help. There was so much attitude in the air, before I said anything, you could cut it with a knife. I usually buy my chicken here because I don't want to drive the 2 miles to Popeye's. I would rather drive that than go thru this stress again.

This was the 3rd time I decided to give this chicken express a try.. and it’ll be my last. The last 3 times, the chicken was stale, gravy was COLD and had a terrible consistency. I love chicken express, but this is by far the worst one I’ve tried, and I gave it 3 tries!

Literally just ordered a family sized fired pickles and some gizzards . Took over 30 mins just to for the order out to us . STRAIGHT BS counted atleast 3 cooks AND 3 cashiers . Not mention we weren’t the only ones waiting for our food . JUST SAD .

i ordered fried pickles, asked them to fry them hard and crispy... they where soggy dripping with grease,, I sent them back, nobody would of ate them.., they just threw them back in the grease and they came out soggier and crust-less, there was about half a cup of grease in container they put them in.... just plain nasty!! I also ordered gizzards, fried hard, they where really good and tasty....but I won't be going back to this location..

My wife and I ate here Friday night and i ordered a number 1 and my wife had got the 2 piece chicken and it was about 20 dollars without tax and then the cashier said that we'll be charged an extra 1.59 because we're paying with our debt card, and the look on her face, she was so embarrassed. I asked her why and she pointed to a sign in front of the register and it says that they're encouraging people to pay with cash instead of a card, with a card you'll be charged additional 3.50 percent. Cooperate American greed at its best. Not only are we paying higher prices for our meals now, they have come up with this scheme to get more money. I guarantee that they're making millions more, but yet we're still paying higher prices for our food. I'll try Raising Cane's next time. Done with Chicken Express.

Went two weeks ago and ordered two number 1 chicken strips with mash potatoes and rolls got home opened the boxes no rolls. Went today 1/7/23 ordered the same thing got home had two gravy in each box no mash potatoes. live to far away to go back. need to fire the incompetent workers and hire people that care about their job. Won't be back. 50/50 chance they will get your ordered right

Went through drive thru and spent $80 on a family meal (waited for awhile because they gave out order to the person in front of us) just to get home with two tiny cups of mashed potatoes instead of the family size, cold chicken and cold Mac n cheese without the honey and hot sauce they assured was in the bag. Tried calling multiple times and they do not answer their phone. Do better!!

Food was good but service was not. I did not see an adult in the building. The place was run by kids. While we were there I saw 3 wrong orders, our order was made twice and one lady who had ordered before us had to go up to counter twice to get food. Please fix this problem- I love the chicken tenders and sweet tea!

Chicken was bland and dry and fries are BLAND and the drive through cashier was rude. She got an attitude because I wanted to use my student discount. This was my first time going to Chicken Express because I knew my school gave discounts. The food is not worth the price even with the discount. That was my first and last time going. Horrible. Men's toilet was broke and wouldn't flush. My granddaughter said the women's was disgusting. Water dripping from AC vents had a pool of water on the bench seat. I ordered 3 Piece dark with biscuit and got two very dry white pieces with roll, also did not get my side order. My wife also did not get her side order. Sitting outside because the building was so cold a lady came driving back with her take out order. She didn't get her okra side

This is the second day in a row I haven't had my order right. The first day I wrote it off, but today? Ugh. The woman thought I had my order when she came out with the order for the car behind me. She then took my receipt and still got it wrong when she came out. I ordered a #2 with mashed potatoes and a roll, 6 livers, mashed potatoes, and a roll, a regular coleslaw, 2 more rolls, and a family sized mashed potatoes. When I got to my destination, I looked at the order she gave me and I now have an order of 12 livers, mashed potatoes, and a roll, 6 livers and gravy with a roll, a large okra, and a family size mashed potatoes. She had the receipt and still got it wrong. Again. I can't do anything about it because she didn't give me my receipt back. What's up with y'all's staff and not getting orders right when they have the correct order in the computer AND paper?

We went through the drive through after noon. Had to repeat the order only once. Food was served fast. We got home in 10 minutes and everything was Cold!!! It was a 12 piece mixed and we mostly got tiny wings.

They got the order wrong and everything was cold except the livers. Food was probably good an hour ago when it was cooked maybe.

I don’t know what it is about this location but they take forever to bring out your food. They make you park and it seems like they forget you’ve paid and waiting for your food .. literally took over 45 minutes for a simple order .

Seriously. I ordered at 6:15 was told it would be a 15 min wait ok no problem. I asked if I could run somewhere and come right back and pick it up. No problem. I get back 10 mins later get to the window 10 mins after that to be told it’s gonna be another 10 mins. Here I am still sitting here at 6:50 with no idea when the chicken will be ready.

Normally great, but my order of fried livers had at least 2 that were rank, and close look of rest of bitten liver showed spots of puke green likely the cause of the rank taste. Hope i dont get sick! Giving rest to the farm dogs.

I was on lunch for the day and decided to go through the drive thru. I waited in line for 30 minutes while 4 people were in front of me. When I finally got to order I had to wait for 5 minutes for the employee to even take my order and while doing so she made it unnecessarily difficult, and was very rude the entire time. When I finally got to the window I had to wait another 4-6 minutes for my food to be given to me. Terrible.

Give them one star because you can't give none. After ordering and being told just a minute for your food. Waited 15 minutes and being told it's still cooking. They close the lobby because they are short handed. Count 8 employees. And just me waiting for food not a car in the drive thru once again no one wants to do their jobs. Yes, food finally came at least it's hot, 25 minutes later. Nice and greasy.

Well, first, I had to wait 30 minutes for 2 pieces of chicken that were burnt and very overcooked. It was so hard when I got home I couldn't enjoy it. When they handed it to me you could smell the burnt smell. It's horrible to have to wait in the drive-thru for 30 minutes, though. I didn't know you get 2 thighs for the special. Just last week, they told me with 2 specials, I couldn't get 3 legs and 1 thigh, but today, they gave me 2 thighs that I didn't order.

Called in an order to pick up through drive through. Order was for a liver gizzard mix with more gizzards than livers .The bag was sealed so when we got home and opened it we got a huge an order of livers and no gizzards. Second time this has happened.Someone needs to pay attention. To how they are filling orders.The receit said clearly Liverand gizzards Not sure I will go back

Pulled up and waited like five minutes for someone to speak on drive thru and then when they did they were super rude. They said they were out of ranch but they had jalapeño ranch. I pull forward and eventually get my food which is overcooked/burnt with no jalapeño ranch. So I’m waiting in the drive thru window, no comes over for another five minutes I finally honk… the girl goes back and then brings regular ranch. The service and food are just always a disappointment and waste of money. Will never return.

Took a very long time to get food. Was so bad people in drive thru were coming in and asking about their order. Dining room needs attention. Person on cash register hollered back to others only 3 more hours of this !! The cook was eating while cooking THEN TO MY DISGUST LICKED ALL FOUR FINGERS AND WENT BACK TO COOKING!!!!! Other employees saw this and laughed saying what are you doing???? Needless to say I will NEVER be back. It’s not clean and employees don’t care.

We love us some chicken express. But this store is horrible. The customer service was sad. Between the two employees that tried to take our order they couldn't stay off their phone long enough to care. The food was cold and dry. The floor was extremely sticky. There were a lot of kids in the restaurant running around eating pizza 🍕. Yep, pizza in a chicken place. I think their parents worked there. We were only passing thru on our way to Houston. I will never eat here again.

I was disrespected and treated very rudely by all staff including the manager on duty. I made a very large family meal and before I pulled off I noticed a part of my order 2 cheese sticks were missing. So you think no big deal I’ll go and tell them. I tried to enter the establishment but all lobbies was closed. They had a very large line wrapped around the building so I pulled near the window in the second lane had to shout across the drive thru lane told them I was missing part of my order the lady acknowledge like she was going to correct my order so I pulled up in front the store and waited. When 15 minute had passed with no communication I had to pull back around into the drive thru. Pulled up to the window and told the lady at the register I was upset and had waited 20 minutes for them to bring them out. She then told me that they gave me all the order and would not be getting the two cheese sticks I ordered because she was positive she put in my order. I offered to let them check my order. They refused and said we can’t take back the order. I offered to show them each box to show them I didn’t not have it in my box. The manager then walked off and closed the window as I was talking. They offered to give me a refund for the order but then they’d take back the food. I told them I just wanted what I payed for and they refused. The women were very rude never apologized and repeatedly closed the window as I was talking. I asked for there name and they closed the window again. Cheese sticks are something my husband enjoys so it was extra special to get these on Father’s Day. I was offended because they did not care about the time I’ve waited, they refused to complete my order, and applied that I would lie over two cheese sticks. I end up driving off because at that point I was done with the establishment. I would not recommended the location based on customer service alone. I’m not even mad about the cheese sticks it’s how they treated me that really got my upset.

My husband had a good experience with his chicken but I'm vegetarian and I asked for fried pickles and poppers, which appear to be Jalapeño when looking at the menu. What they gave me instead of poppers was corn nuggets which had no taste to speak of and were overly greasy. The fried pickles were literally dripping grease. Disgusting unfortunately and we wouldn't go back

So much for fast food. I’ve been waiting out front for about 10 minutes after ordering at the drive-thru because there were no breasts cooked. Then an employee came out and said it would be another 15 minutes because her order taker did not know there were customers waiting. This makes twice this has happened in recent weeks at this facility. Poor management. This is so frustrating especially in this Texas heat. I guess we will have to find another chicken place on Sundays.

Went to get lunch got 4 spicy express tenders. 2 of the 4 were purely batter no chicken so I only got 2 strips macaroni was barely warm like it had been in the microwave just enough to pass it. They used to have such great service it's gone pretty downhill.

The only reason I’m giving a star because I had to, To be able to write a review.. This was the worst chicken express I’ve ever been to. I just opened I ordered two number one’s and two sweet teas. The fries were barely warm , The chicken had no flavor and taste like it had been fried in old grease and not to mention the gravy was cold! I do not recommend this chicken express it all !

I've never had a bad experience here—until now. I ordered a 16-piece family meal and only received 8 pieces. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice until we got home, and we live far from the location. With kids needing to eat before practice, going back right away wasn’t an option. I sent my husband (who was closer) to let them know we were short half our order. Instead of handling it professionally, the staff accused him of lying. As he walked away, they continued talking about him in a disrespectful way, which was completely unnecessary. We’ve never had issues here before, but after this experience, we won’t be coming back. Mistakes happen—but treating paying customers like that is unacceptable.

The food is good, always love some chicken express. But for some reason this location never has poppers. Not understanding how everytime I order them they never have them. Should just go ahead and remove them from the menu.

My husband and I tried calling before posting this review, no answer. Whoever was taking the drive through orders, explained they were out of chicken and if we wanted, to wait it would be 20 minutes. Because we didn’t have the extra time, she stated all she had was a few pieces that were not originally for our order but could add the pieces she did have available. Only for us to spend $41 on old chicken fried in old grease, cold rolls, under cooked fries, the meal was garbage! We didn’t notice until we got home. We couldn’t even eat it, it was so hard the chicken. Shame on you for poor service! If you wanted to get rid of the old chicken, you should have gone out to the dumpster yourself And not sell it to my family!!

Lady with purple hair was mopping the floor when we came in and I asked if they were still open. It was 8:12pm, Monday, April 12. She said one side of the dining area is open but the other side isn’t because she had to “really finish her mopping.”She hesitated to take our order. I felt completely uncomfortable but my husband wanted spicy tenders. We ordered. She seemed in a hurry. We took our food and ate in our car. Another 2 cars pulled up after us and we watched them quickly leave too and left for Buffalo Wild Wings next door. So, lady with the purplish hair: you were rude. Rude to us that I didn’t even want to eat. I will not be returning. Thank you.
