Opiniones de MacArthur Park Palo Alto
Love this place. I used to go here 30 years ago, and just recently came back. Food is as good as I remembered. Delicious ribs, mud pie, and onion strings.
Home to our wedding reception and many special occasion dinners, we always enjoy our time, service, and meal at MacArthur Park. So glad it's been honored as a historic landmark, so we can always go back!
Great experience. Delicious food and excellent service. I highly recommend it.
Out of the way, behind the railway station on University. Lots of parking. A beautiful rehabbed building and patio, spacious and grand western style. Food is excellent and not vulgarized by tourists.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at MacArthur Park. It was the best dining out experience in a very long time. Not only was the food very good, buffet style (very large choice of entrees, continually re-supplied and at their freshest) but the décor was warm and charming. For me, the very best part was the lack of overwhelming ambient noise. My husband and I enjoyed a quiet, personal, intimate dinner despite a huge number of diners. It was a joy to sip champagne and not have to shout to be hear and strain to hear. In addition, the wait-staff were warm and engaging AND QUIET in their cleanup. It was a great evening. Best in years. I asked my husband to reserve for us a time at Christmas eve for dinner.
For the past seven years, our department has hosted our annual holiday party at MacArthur Park, and each year has been an enchanting experience. Nestled in downtown Palo Alto, MacArthur Park, a historic gem, consistently offers a magical atmosphere that transcends expectations, encompassing delightful cuisine, impeccable service, and an ambiance that captivates our guests. Throughout the holiday season, MacArthur Park undergoes a festive transformation into a Winter Wonderland. The centerpiece, a magnificent 17 ft tall Christmas tree, serves as a beacon of holiday cheer. The entire restaurant is adorned with festive decor and lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect stage for our annual gathering. I appreciate Faz, Mitize, and the entire team at MacArthur Park for their exceptional professionalism and dedication. Working with them has been an absolute pleasure, and their attentive service and seamless coordination, particularly when hosting a group of our size, deserve the highest praise. Their support is integral to the success of our event. In essence, MacArthur Park has become more than a venue for our holiday festivities; it has become a partner in creating enduring memories for our department. We look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition and appreciate the extraordinary efforts of the MacArthur Park team in making each celebration truly magical.
Had a really great time during a large event. The food was very good and the staff were amazing. They were easy to work with and the atmosphere was perfect for our event.
Catered Event executed by journey person staff at every level. Charcuterie, Antipasto, presentation, wines, ales, beers were top tier.
Great food, great service. We had a large party, food came fast, was all hot and everyone was happy. I had fish and it was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend you have reservations and use the valet parking for $6. Enjoy.
I really enjoyed my visit. Not very busy on a mid-week late night cocktail. Good service and hand made cocktails. My friend had a meal and he thoroughly enjoyed the food. I'll be back!
Very nice time here. We were greeted by the friendly bartender who directed us out to the patio. The service, drinks, and food were very good. The ambiance outside was lovely. A great place.
We had a very pleasant experience and great attentive service. I was celebrating a birthday with friends and staff went out of their way to help us celebrate. We will go back! I'd like to encourage other people to help keep this establishment in business!
The food was AMAZING. It's a shame they didn't have any cupcakes though. My friend was finding for cupcakes after we got done with the main course
Surprisinglyly uncrowded on a Saturday night. Great service, good bread, nice mocktails, delicious scallop appetizer, good entrees (one steak, one prawn and avocado salad)
Great experience! Came here for christmas dinner, and it was amazing. The food is spot on, and the service is basically perfect. Buffet style eating, get what you want and grub on....
Staff are professional and classy. Stumbled in under dressed with my beautiful girlfriend (I think she is why we were seated by the fireplace)…classic piano playing. The calamari was so light and tasted like they just threw it in the fryer from a tank. Lucky us!
Great food, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. My new favorite restaurant.
If you want an amazing dining experience… this is where you come. The food is awesome…I know that and I’m pretty sure everyone that works here knows that. The drinks are immaculate. But the service you get, it’s one of a kind. Palo Alto is top 3 worst cities I have ever visited and I’ve traveled around the country. The people in Palo Alto are rude, boujie and down right a-holes. But this place, man they just get it. They treat you like family. I’ve never met them, but they feel like family who want you to come into their home to share an amazing meal. All of my terrible experiences in this city were obliterated by this staff just by this one experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my evening. This isn’t so much of a review as it is a thank you. So, thank you MacArthur Park. It was truly a pleasure. -Curtis
Great overall experience here! My wife reserved this restaurant for Mother's Day with her side of the family, and it did not disappoint! Our server kept coming thru to check on us, and the food was great! So great that the prime rib ran out 😂 We will have to come back here in the future.
Valentine’s Day dinner was awesome!!!! Service was spot on and very friendly despite being extremely busy. The new menu items were creative and delicious We had an amazing night And will definitely be back
Excellent local. Hidden behind the Palo Alto train station but worth the hunt. Nice high ceilings, historic and century old wood construction. Wonderfully spacious patio. Food is excellent American. Western feel and spacious seating.
Amazing place to have a dinner. I’ve been there in a cocktail and the service was great and the food very tastes.
comfort food done well, with some gourmet throw ins. The service was great and helpful with helping us decide on a menu item. Loved the decor, very cozy but elegant. The patio was beautiful especially on a warm day. Price is reasonable and portion sizes weren't crazy.
We dined here couple of days ago Wednesday the 20th, and it's not hyperbole when I say that it was possibly one of the best service experience I've ever received. The food was great, drinks were amazing (special shoutout to Aurelio's pomegranate cocktail) I work close by here at the Sheraton, and I was amazed I hadn't discovered this place yet. From Nick the manager to Aurelio the bartender and the wonderful server we had (whose name I sadly forgot, so sorry) it was just a fantastic evening.
Mitzie, the owners and all the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating in our visit. Our group tried a variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks, and all were excellent. On top of that, both indoor and outdoor dining areas were beautiful, and prices were very reasonable. We plan to return regularly.
It offers a delightful experience with its historic, upmarket ambiance and a menu featuring comforting American classics, including standout barbecue ribs. With a variety of dining options, a full bar, and excellent service, it's a great spot for lunch, dinner, or even solo dining, all while offering accessible seating and amenities like free Wi-Fi and outdoor seating.
Valentine's dinner.... this place was jumping! Our server Ron was absolutely amazing. The 5-course dinner was perfectly prepared. The only problem was some guy who came in and was complaining to the manager- who was trying his best to make him happy- Clearly just doing it for a free meal. What a joke! We love the new menu items, the new wines and the updated decor. Will definitely be back!!!!
The service from the staff was excellent. They promptly refilled our drinks as soon as they were empty and also quickly brought us seconds of delicious, freshly baked bread. I had the steak, which was well-aged and very flavorful.
The current owner Faz gave me a grand tour of the facility, and I was impressed with the history in heritage of this venue, along with the current use from an army depot to a critically acclaimed neighborhood eatery in the shadow of Stanford University
Delicious food and excellent service, with romantic ambiance. It’s one of those restaurants that would make it hard to chose where to seat because both indoor and outdoor are gorgeous. We went there for the first time for dinner and live band music. As we were sitting at our table enjoying the restaurant we were greeted by the Chef/Owner, Mr.FAZ, and later on we even received a special treat by him. What a nice and generous gesture. I sure highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to experience fine dining and beautiful ambiance. The rack of lamb was superb. Service was excellent. I certainly will go back to MacArthur Park location and other FAZ locations again.
This has been one of our favorite "hidden" gems over the past 30 years to take the family. I think a lot of people pass over this place without realizing what a great place it is. We always get wonderful food, and it is super affordable for the great quality. The outdoor patio is fun (and even the front porch tables) where we can take our pups. Inside, you walk into a great room with a lofty high ceiling and fireplaces, so it has a great ambiance. It's colonial style with a beautiful historical vibe. There are extra rooms for private parties so the place can be packed, but you would never know. The Holidays are especially wonderful because they go all out in decorating!!! We take our staff here for our end of year Dinner!!!
Had a really nice Thanksgiving dinner there with my family. Although they were packed, the service was spot on and they kept the buffet dishes filled. Really enjoyable atmosphere. Parking was a little hard to find though. Here's a Tip: there is a company parking lot a couple of block behind MacPrk that used to be a post office in a 50's style building with a flagpole in front. After 5 it's ok to park there. They had a great dessert bar and the pic is of a couple of the ones we enjoyed.
This is a fantastic restaurant with friendly staff, great selection and tasty food.

Hadn’t been to the restaurant in over 30 years. We used to frequently dine there when we lived in the area. It was exceptional. I had the rosemary chicken and my husband had the ribs and chicken. My favorite turtle pie was as delicious as I remembered. Enrique our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. We look forward to the next time when we are in Palo Alto and visit the restaurant.
Went here for a wedding reception. Food was great. Staff was great.
Absolutely the best steak I’ve ever had—nothing else comes close. The service was excellent, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Honestly, the negative reviews seem questionable; the wording is so similar it feels like they may have come from the same source. On top of that, the happy hour prices are unbelievably good. Cannot beat a $6 glass of amazing wine.

I love their onion soup and their steak sandwich. I do like the architecture of the building -- though at times it is a bit noisy. The waiters come across asa bit stiff despite the rather informal settings. Oh, and I love the painting on the paper table clothes and the hight tech order pads the waiters use.
Historic restaurant situated in an old army barracks. There is a plaque outside that describe its history. Traditional American food. Lots of small private rooms for meetings. parking is a little bit of a pain since the lot always seems to be full, and you would find yourself off and having a ballet. There is a questionable bike rack outside.
Classic meal. The onion rings are the best. Wonderful venue, though it's a pain to find while driving. Service a little slow last time I was there. Still, the ribs are worth it.
Every local knows this place is a gem. Perhaps that's why it's been around for decades. Order the Baby Back Ribs with some Onion Strings with an Arnold Palmer and you'll soon find out why this place is a favorite. It's also popular for Thanksgiving and at Christmas time (the inside holiday lights alone are worth the trip). Cheers!
Came here for a private event and my group had reserved the back patio area - it was absolutely gorgeous. I loved the space and the staff was beyond friendly. They really helped make the event special. In terms of food and drinks, the wine was great. Standard white and red were provided but both were good quality. The food was pretty good. The caesar salad was a little fishy tasting to me which I understand is a style of making it, just wasn't for me. We had the surf and turf (filet mignon and salmon) which was also good - I preferred their steak over their salmon, and that seemed pretty consistent with the reviews that I had read prior to coming. The steak was phenomenal and I would come back just for that. We ended the evening with mud pie which was delicious. I would definitely get it again. Overall, it was a good experience - I definitely would have to come back for a special occasion since it is a little pricey, but most of their food stood up in quality for the price that it would be. I'm happy I got to experience their food at an event so that I was able to try a lot of food without my wallet hurting in the end. :)
Spacious restaurant near stanford university. Free parking on premise although actually getting to the place is a challenge. Pay very close attention to your GPS navigation. Waze and Google will do a much better job than some built-in car navigation. The food is fine.
Very nice place, great food. What more could you really want? Not exactly my preference menu-wise, so I only have 4 stars, but great for what they do offer. Recommended
We started the evening with wonderful service by Patti, followed by a great meal. Our pork chops and fillet steaks were perfect and the mud pie was delicious. MacArthur Park is now one of my favorite restaurants.
This rustic Palo Alto establishment servers traditional American fare in a relaxed atmosphere. The building is a wide open space that can sometimes get very noisy. It's not spectacular, but the food is good and the prices are reasonable.
Good food and service, but we did not like the 3-4% fee added to the bill for "living wage surcharge', or something similar. The wait staff I asked did not think they received this extra pay. If this restaurant needs more money to pay their workers a living wage, they should raise their prices.
Came here after work a week or so ago. Cool, old school atmosphere that was laid back, but felt like it could quickly become more formal in the evening at dinner. Bartenders were courteous and made use some fantastic drinks.
Beautiful location with delicious food, great staff (especially the bartenders), and the scenery is just amazing. The back patio, when open for eating at, is really really nice and I would recommend it any time of the year that it isn't raining or freezing, though they have heat lamps and awnings. Parking in the back lot is a bit sketchy with the lack of lighting, but there is Caltrain parking nearby too that is nicer! Also walkable from Stanford or downtown Palo Alto.
The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. The setting is lovely and the staff was pleasant. It just took a really long time for them to take our food order after the initial drink order was received.
Very tasty BBQ Service was outstanding Enrique made our party of 8 feel right at home Thanks 👍
We happened in on an evening that the restaurant was hosting a large party (band, buffet, photo booth) in the primary dining room. (Not mentionws when we made the reservation) They seated reservations in a secondary room with none of the atmosphere and most of the party noise. The service was great, all things considered, and the food was good. Not quite the leisurely dinner we imagined, but I would go back on a quiet night and have dinner at the bar.
This was a nice, very rustic place (my wife and I got to sit at a table facing a large fireplace, nice!) that only had a few other groups in the whole place. Food was decent - my steak was perfectly cooked, if missing some salt, and the entre Cobb salad probably could have served two or three people. Service was very friendly, but it was a bit difficult to flag them down for drink refills. The price was about what I'd expect from a steakhouse, but unless having a very quiet restaurant is important to you, there are other steakhouses which you might consider.
The food is okay, not a lot of vegetarian options - service is great!
The food was good but lacked flavor and needed spicing. The ribs were very good, as was the pecan pie. The shrimp were good, and the sauce for the shrimp was excellent. Parking was terrible. The streets to get to the restraunt were a pain. The first room we were seated in was very cold!! The next room was warmer but was very isolated.
Lovely spot for a happy hour or a low-key dinner. The cocktails could use a bit of an oomph but overall a good spot.Service is A+ ❤️Buttermilk chicken -super moist and tasty
"Awesome place. Always has been and it has hosted several of our families milestones. Host stand hospitality has gone down the tubes and the innovation behind the kitchen seems to be a bit lacking. Wish they would elevate the holiday brunch menu by serving some different items year after year. Still a great pick as always for the special occasion brunch."

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. I’ve come for holiday buffets, celebrated special occasions, and had casual meals at the bar. MacArthur Park is always warm and cozy. The quality of the food isn’t as good as it used to be, but is still tasty. I also miss the valet parking.
The food was tasty. The wait staff was appropriately attentive to our table. The building is full of charm. It is big and spacious. On this particular cool night it got chilly by the end of the dinner.

Very quaint within walking distance from the Westin and Sheraton Palo Alto. The service was fantastic (we had a large group). MacArthur Park has a historic feel to it with exposed wood beams, black and white photos, a large patio in the back and an upstairs loft. The food was so-so and hit and miss. The split pea soup was perfect. But my beef main entree very tough and warm. I couldnt eat most if it. The Mud Pie dessert was good but the portion was tiny.
It's a lovely site that's a bit hard to find. We got there at 6 on Saturday night and not many people there. I expected it to be crowded by the time we left but no. The service was kind and thoughtful but there were a few small mistakes. Food was good but not great. I hope this was a new team and that they will hit their stride quickly. We were very comfortable by the fire. Go there, have a great time and tell me.
Large, historic, difficult to access or exit, like getting out of twilight zone. Happy hour food choices are okay, but not that enticing, healthwise. Happy hour wine choices not interesting, food choices lean on the heavy side. Did not eat dinner, but didn't have any more money to keep draining after happy hour. Ribs are good, but very small quantity, and not happy hour priced even though it's right in the middle of happy hour offerings. Nachos was delicious, it needed some salsa.
Haven't been here is a long time. Service was fine and food is good, but it was empty, which always makes me uneasy. I would probably try it for brunch and I have heard the happy hour is fun. Probably won't be back for dinner.
Food: Wild King Salmon is so so. The bread is good though. Service: host guided me to a seat where AC blows cold air straight to my face. And I waited at least 10 minutes for waitress ask me what I want. Atmosphere: old decorations, table throw with stains, yellowed class cup… not a place I want to go again if the goal is to have a fine dining.
This is a unique dinner venue to be sure. Used to be the place to take visitors or for that special dinner in the area. Has gone though various eras but still has that potential for recovering it's former glory. Why? Generally good service and the last couple times I've been there, impeccably prepared food. [However, see below for update.] If you haven't been there, either ever, or in a while, give McArthur Park a visit. Would be great to have this unique place back to it's full potential. Update 11/22 Had to remove a ⭐ as the last couple of times were disappointing. Service falling off and some dishes not too impressive. I tried the jumbo prawn fettuccini and frankly it was not fresh and out of sorts. Should have stuck to the ribs and chicken. Was never asked to give any feedback.
The drinks are pretty good. I've eaten here a few times for meeting-type meals, and while the food isn't bad, it's generally boring and seems like it is from an older time. They do have a private room available for meetings, which is nice, and it's a super-safe place to take someone who likes very traditional American food.
The salmon and rice were overcooked, the service was attentive but a little amateurish, and the ambience, well… we were sitting in this huge dining hall, almost alone. The bill however was 100% Palo Alto dinner restaurant.
Easter Buffett - food was mediocre at best (Had a reservation at 2:30) The sauces for the prime rib were not marked, so I put a sweet sauce on my slice of prime rib, which wasn’t good at all. The wine was incredibly expensive - 3 glasses for $192.00??? Our waitress was very nice, however.
I’d give this one 2.5 stars if I could. The good: The wines there are excellent The bistro lights outside are very cute There are plenty of tables They have good sourdough bread The not so good: This is clearly a restaurant in decline. We were there during prime dinner hours on a Saturday night for a wedding dinner, and the place wasn’t even 20% full. Despite that, service was awful, and the food incredibly slow. As in, a meal with zero appetizers or special orders took three hours (maybe to drive up the drinks tab? I’m not sure). Our waitress was very coarse, and had a really bad attitude. I don’t say that lightly - she made passive aggressive comments to the bride when we arrived about half our wedding party being late, was defensive when a dish did not include all the described ingredients, and kept giving people horrible forced smiles despite clearly not wanting to be there. She acted like she was doing us a favor just by showing up. The only time I saw her try remotely hard was when she handed everyone the check, in which she clearly wanted to ingratiate herself. But even though there weren’t many people there, servers rarely checked on us, to the point that we had to pour our own wine, and go find waitstaff when we needed anything. The elderly members of our party got very cold as the sun set, but no one was available to turn on the heat lamps. While the outdoor area was kind of nice with a fountain and cute lighting, the huge tv undercut the ambiance, along with blaring pop music that was out of sync with the old timey vibe. When I mentioned the music to the host, he was frustrated we had chosen a table near the speakers. Inside, it looked a bit like a country club from the 1950’s, that hasn’t had many updates. The hallways to the bathrooms were creepy with broken fluorescent lighting, and people were constantly almost running into each other in the dark. The food was completely uninteresting. It was good, but nothing that you might remember a week later. I guess I would call it a white bread Americana menu, mostly appealing to generations born prior to the 1960’s. It is definitely not Californian, and not high end or creative. I am very surprised it has survived in the Palo Alto market, given how different it is from other restaurants in the downtown area, and would be surprised if it’s still there a couple of years from now. I think most of the patrons must be families who have lived in the Bay quite a long time, and that this restaurant reminds them of simpler days past. They did not ask if we wanted coffee or tea with dessert, and the one person who did order coffee received it after everyone had eaten cake and was standing up to leave. The location is a little loud and hard to find next to Caltrain - take the first right off of Alma, not the second. All in all, I was happy to be there because nothing could dim my joy at my friends’ happiness getting married. But, I thought it was important to note for other couples wanting to celebrate anniversaries or a special day, how the entire party was treated like an afterthought. If you want to be truly celebrated, go someplace that cherishes and welcomes your business, where the experience echoes and reflects your joy.
Wasn't overly impressed, the food was good but the service and ambiance wasn't up to par. Based on the price of the food, I was expecting more. Didn't see our server very much, it took a while to get our order, I asked for a dipping sauce for our appetizer which arrived long after the appetizer was finished, also she never checked on us after we were served. The bar was not in great shape, had allot of clutter and the bar tender seemed to be stretched thin and struggling to keep up with service.
First off, this is a beautiful space. The vibe and layout is open and welcoming, perfect for small or large parties looking to share a variety of BBQ items but also filet mignon and whole rotisserie chicken. Unfortunately, my experience was lackluster. The potato skins (which is not the traditional split in half with cheese, sour cream, etc) its small bits of chopped rind and potato. The onion strings were ok, nothing special, and the artichoke was served cold versus warm from the grill which was odd. In terms of the ribs, they were not fall off the bone - a bit tough and chewy which was surprising because the rest of the taste/flavor was quite good. Mac & cheese was good but again, just ok, nothing spectacular. The desserts were a bit better. Wine choices are mediocre but a few selections that could round out a variety of food choices. So I don't want to paint the wrong picture - the staff was very pleasant, and no rush or anything like that, but sorry, not the best BBQ as the claim is.

We had a Caesar, artichoke and Pork chop. The Caesar was not up to par, mayonnaise based. The artichoke was fine. The pork chop was bad. Tough and not good. Restaurant was very cold (temp) as it was empty. Can't recommend.
Whilst the restaurant looks nice and has friendly staff, the food isn't up to par. The steak main was dry, chewy and not medium rare. It lacked flavour in any way shape or form and was very bland. The cheesecake was stale and heavy and the top wasn't even textured correctly. Very disappointed, wish I didn't spend my money here.
Food was pretty tasty but the service was horrible. We came on Mother’s Day and were given a very nice table in the corner but were ignored for over 20 minutes (I looked at my watch to see when someone would finally come to take our order.) Finally someone came over to take our order and then disappeared again for a while. (Didn’t bring the mimosas that came with the brunch.) We had to flag someone down just to ask for some bread. When we asked her, she said oh they didn’t bring it to you? When the main entrees finally arrived, all the prime ribs were missing sauces and the potatoes were missing sour cream. I also saw that the table next to us got the wrong food. At the end, we got a sampler of cakes but they were a bit dry. Later, our server told us she was a bit out of sorts because she doesn’t normally work there. So why would a restaurant hire people who don’t know how to serve on a busy holiday like Mother’s Day?
I used to come here as a kid and it was 10/10. Over the last few years the wheels fell off. It has not been kept up and overall quality has taken a steep dive. So much potential here if good ownership took over.

This is the last place i DONT recommend to anyone server its unprofessional i order appetizer 40 minutes for the fried calamari i order full rack rids who is take 1hour to yes be ready. Totally bad place to represent Stanford and the veterans sorry you guys
Never disappointed with food and service here. But this time for Thanksgiving dinner, they proved me wrong. We had reservation for Thanksgiving but waited for 20 minutes for our table where other people who showed up later, were seated right away. We asked for water and the server said, no English. Then later we heard him speaking English. I was told they have unexperienced new staff, but that’s not something I expected from this restaurant
Booked the banquet room for a private dinner. Less than disappointing on every level. The dining room was dark, musty, and frankly smelled like my 3 teenage sons’ bedroom. The food was uninspiring and barely cafeteria quality. All of this was conveyed to the venue, who did nothing. I'd be ashamed to charge what they did for this.
Tonight we had a lovely meal as usual however the wait staff did not make us feel welcome at all. We arrived at 8 pm (Saturday evening) and were the last to leave at 9:15 pm. By 8:45 pm we watched the wait staff having drinks while we finished our meals and bottle of wine. We have been coming here for over 20 years and never made to feel unwelcome such as tonight. While the staff were sitting having drinks at the booth near the bar, we didn’t even get a thank you or good bye when we left. I guess they don’t value our patronage and are anxious to leave by 9pm on a Saturday evening. They should have called us or denied our booking for 8 pm if they didn’t want us there.
Thanksgiving 2022 was completely chaotic! Got put at a table w/o any introduction no silverware or menu. Turkey was running out at 6:30 ran to get buffet food since they closed at 7:00. No drinks until we were having dessert, or water. Forever to get check and get out. So disgusting the lack of preparation for an established restaurant.
This is one of the worst buffets I’ve ever been to / one of the top worst restaurants ever with terrible quality food. We went for Mother’s Day brunch - all the meat is super dry (chicken, ribs etc). The pasta was one of the worst tasting pastas I’ve ever had (texture was like gluten free pasta but don’t think it was). It’s a slightly upgraded version of Hometown Buffett or iHop but worse. Terrible value for $75 per person.
Had an 8 pm reservation on Valentine’s Day, we arrived on time and was initially told we didn't have a table. we informed the host we had a reservation, they were overbooked. We saw an open tall table and said we didn't mind taking it. After we sat down we sat for over 30 min with no service or even being acknowledged.... We asked to be moved to a section where we would receive service...we sat for another 15 min in the new section before we were asked if we had been served. Worst Dining experience of my life. My food was not great and part of what I ordered ($99 per person Valentine’s PreFixed Menu) wasn't even served. AND we weren't told they were out of what we order, they just bought what they had. We spent over $260 for this experience and will NEVER go back!!! Worst Valentine’s ever
Thanksgiving Dinner 2022. We had reservations for 6:30 pm. When we arrived we were seated fairly quickly (this is the only plus). I was surprised this was a buffet for the price (my bad as I didn't notice it was a buffet when making reservations). When seated we waited for someone to provide us with a wine/drink menu - never happened we were able to obtain the wine menu from a table that was no longer using theirs. We were told that the buffet would close at 7:00 pm so we rushed to get some turkey and other buffet items. To our surprise the roast was nowhere to be seen. Later the turkey was gone but they did have some roast. We finally ordered a glass of wine part way through dinner and got it when we were ready for desert. That is when the water came also. The desert was dry and wasn't very tasty. They never came around to ask if we would like another glass of wine. It was like they never did a buffet before. Getting the check and paying was arduous. Harry's Hofbrau would have been better for sure. This was meant to be a special dinner for myself an my new spouse but not to be. This was my first experience there and it was a disaster. For around $200.00 each everything could have been better. They had reservations and knew the number of people that would be there and when so they failed to prepare for those guests.
I've been here many times before with co-workers for happy hour and it has always been good food and great service. Today, I decided to try the dining room for dinner. I ordered the jumbo grilled prawns w/rice and my spouse ordered the ribs. My food came and it was cold!! My spouse tried the prawns first and he said, is it supposed to be cold?? Then, we waited a good 10 minutes for the check after asking for it, we couldn't wait any longer and had to go to the young lady to pay and wait some more. All in all, I will not be dining here except for happy hour. I was raving about the place so much that it was extremely disappointing to me and my spouse that the food was cold and the horrible service. Will not bring my spouse here, ever!!
We had a very poor experience, despite reservation, we got table after 20 minutes of waiting. For next half an hour no one came to pick our order. No staff/ manager came to explain the reason for delay or pick our drink order while waiting. The whole experience ruined our evening on the Valentines Day, we thought it’s a busy day for the restaurant but courtesy and service is the first rule of hospitality which they completely lacked. Our experience was a total disappointment.
Horrible experience on our second visit here. On mother's day they managed to achieve our worst Mother day's lunch or dining experience. Food was uncooked, smelly, low quality, the staff very unfriendly and unwelcoming So called manager on duty handled the feedback when he asked how the food was and heard our answer that the food was not that good. He said "oh, that's not good." And then brought some even worse left over looking cake slices as a gesture. But, no thank you. I highly recommend the management to reach out so I can share more details about this experience.
Horrible service! Totally ruined our valentine's night... We had a rservation and arrived on time at 7:30pm. Waitress came to our table after 15min and took drinks orders. It took another 20min to get our drinks! We requested to change an item from 4course dinner menu. They told us it needs restaurant manager's approval to do that. It took another 15min until he showed up and agreed to replace it w another option. Then first course was served at 8:30 pm but we didn't have any silverset to use!!! Waited another 15min and asked a couple of times but they didn't pay attention!!! We decided to leave the restaurant without eating the dinner!!! Very poor service and management. Don't waste your time & money there...
One of the worst steaks I've ever had. Was mostly fat and gristle. When I mentioned it to the waiter, I was told it's because they were overwhelmed with some large parties. Not sure what that has to do with being served a horrible cut of meat. I wasn't offered another one, but food took so long to come out that I wouldn't want to wait for it anyway.
Having made a reservation a week in advance for Valentine’s Day, you would expect to get seated - at least in a traditional restaurant. However, MacArthur Park was overbooked (even though OpenTable still showed availability) and the check-in staff offered us to share a table with others. Obviously, not acceptable on this special day - not just for us but many others. After waiting for 20 minutes at a high table without even being offered anything to drink, the restaurant’s manager finally seated us. No apologies or complimentary drinks to make up for the inconvenience. After 15 minutes of being ignored again, my wife and I left the restaurant together with half a dozen other guests that had enough too. Stay away from this place and should be banned from OpenTable for their questionable business practices and poor services. The manager is in the wrong profession the way he dealt with his customers.
This was a bizarre experience. We had reservations for Valentine’s Day, there was supposed to be a special 5 course meal. Nobody talked to us for 20 minutes after we sat down. Eventually we ordered. Soup took another 20 minutes to show up. We asked for water multiple times, it took an hour to arrive. After the soup, we sat around with nothing to do for 30 minutes. Our entrees were brought out (my steak was pretty good actually, and so were my wife’s ribs), but this skipped two of the five courses. They would never arrive. By this time we had been there for an hour and a half. We mentioned to the staff that we hadn’t gotten parts of our meal multiple times. It wasn’t just us either, I think this experience was true for everyone there. I saw other tables get served the dessert before their mains, people just sitting around without food, lots of people didn’t get parts of their meal. The place was obviously very short staffed, I think there were only 4-5 people working. The restaurant was not full either, probably 1/2 or 2/3 capacity. Ultimately, we were there for 2.5 hours, got 3/5 of our food, and they asked us to pay full price. We did not. I honestly felt bad for the folks working there, they were obviously stressed.
A bizarre experience. There was literally NO ONE in the restaurant for the entire time we were there, almost two hours. Two simple entrees took 45 minutes to arrive. I've never seen a restaurant run as badly as this. What the heck is going on here?
Totally unsatisfactory dining experience. It was disorganized, terrible experience I had. We paid $192.00 each for the following: 1, The hostess did not note our reservation correctly. She went ahead and seated us, but our waiter called the hostess over to the table to prove we had paid. Ened up I had two wriskband. 2,A party of people unknown to us was seated at our table by the host. 3,When we requested hot water, we were told to get it ourselves. We were also told that there would be no hot water after 11:00 p.m. 4,There was few lipstick mark on the "clean" coffee cup. 5,Buffet $80 (official website) COVID or not, we expect a lot more consideration for close to $400.00.
I am sorry to report that this place is simply a NOT RECOMMENDED. It has so much potential. The first sign was the ability to get a table on a Saturday night without the need for a reservation in Palo Alto. I mean that is unheard of. Anyway, we arrived to only a few cars in the parking lot. We were a party of six including two children and asked for a table on the patio. It was a warm afternoon and the patio was cool and refreshing. Though as mentioned, there were only two other tables with customers in a patio of at least 20 tables. Our waiter explained the menu which was helpful. Everything seemed to be “highly recommended”. We settled for a Napa cab in lieu of pre-dinner drinks, table bread, calamari & artichokes as an appetizer. I have to say the calamari was delicious though the artichoke hearts were somewhat bland, perhaps not fresh. Two of us ordered the “highly recommended” filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. We waited 45 minutes for our meals which signals to me the waiter wanted to sell us another bottle of wine. Almost no customers, yet the cook couldn’t grill two steaks to rare and medium rare within an acceptable 20 minutes. In fact the waiter came back without the dinners to ask if we “needed” a second bottle of wine. We were at that point all upset the meals had yet to be served. The mood had been ruined. Finally, the filet mignon plates were delivered. One supposedly rare, the other supposedly medium rare. NOPE! The rare was thoroughly cooked well done and the MR cooked medium well. We refused them. Perhaps if the dishes had been served in a reasonable time, they would not had needed to keep reheating it and then serving. It’s either that or the chef/cook is untrained in determining when a steak is ready. Either way, we all got up and left, paying for what some of us had been served, but all of us very unhappy with the service and overall experience. It could have been so much better. Not recommended. I have 3.6M reviews, this is one of the worst I’ve ever written. No restaurant response needed. I’ve read through other 1 rated comments, our experience unfortunately is common.

Hosted a private dinner here for 20 doctors and they never notified me that they were in the middle of renovations. It was so embarrassing for all of my guests. We had to tell them to stop drilling so we could hear ourselves. I suggested they offer a $25 gift certificate to each guest but was refused. The entire experience was awful and totally avoidable if they had AT ANY POINT contacted us to let us know of the inconvenience. Poor management! And the food was subpar.
