I was lucky enough to be served by Jeremiah! He was amazing, not only was he accommodating to my specific needs he also went out of his way to make a 1st timer feel special. It felt like he was running the whole restaurant while making sure everyone was taken care of! I applaud the eat quality and taste as well. Overall very great experience and can’t wait to come back!

We held a holiday party here for the second year in a row with over 60 guests. Joe’s Crab Shack was not only able to comfortably accommodate all of us, but they offered our group a wide selection of menu options to choose from, and everything was served promptly and perfectly cooked. The chefs and servers worked very hard to get our food out fast and made it possible for us to all eat together. The seafood boils were especially a hit - I chose the garlic flavor and it was perfect. The music was nice too! I’d like to also give a special shout out to the managers Ken and Jeremiah, and to the event coordinator, Cheryl. You all were awesome to work with and made our celebration come together seamlessly.

Our server Jeremiah was wonderful and even though there was a long wait for food and drinks he made our experience great. I would have to say you all need to hire more people for busy weekends. He was running around doing the work of 4 people.

This review is based on having tempered expectations for a chain style restaurant. It definitely exceeded our expectations. We just got a burger and some chowder. They were both incredibly satisfying. Jeremiah was a breath of fresh air, honest, helpful and down to earth. The view on the deck is worth a return trip in itself.

Jeremiah went above and beyond with his service even with the big rush! Food was delicious. We had the Atlantic, oysters and mozzarella bricks. 10/10 would recommend. Will definitely be back again!

There was just three of us having lunch and we were greeted and seated immediately with a window seat. The floors were very clean as well as the rest of the restaurant including the restroom. We were celebrating my nephews birthday in Old Sacramento. He decided he wanted to have lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack. Today everything was exceptionally good, especially the service! We had a party of 8 and our waiter Jeremiah, was absolutely on top of all our request! It was like he knew what we needed before we even said anything! I just wanna start off by saying I had the best server ever! Marcus had soooo much positive energy and made this such a memorable experience!! He made sure everything was perfect with all 7 of us at the table and made sure our waters were filled and we were all happy! The food was delicious however the price is pricey so when coming here keep that in mind! I would HIGHLY recommend coming back here because of the experience Marcus had given all of us! Our first time here and we will definitely be coming in again!! The food was great my husband and I both had the shrimp boil and honestly we could have shared one plate it was so big. We sat on the patio and it was very relaxing.You can watch the boats and sea lions from all the tables on the patio. They have heaters for the colder days which is so nice. With that being said the best part was the service. Our waitress was Espie and she was an absolute delight. She answered all of our questions and gave suggestions. She was very attentive during our lunch and honestly made it feel like we were having lunch at a friend's house not a restaurant, which is the type of customer service that will bring people back.

We came from USVI to visit family and looking for some crab. We came across the Crab Shack and were so impressed with the service!!! Our server Ben was outstanding and calculated our dinning needs, he was on top of getting our food out hot, our drinks were spot on and he cleaned plates as we finished. Jeremiah was able to provide great service despite having 7 tables to attend to simultaneously! The atmosphere on the patio was great (we saw sea lions!) and the food was great! My partner and I got the crab boils and left full/happy.

I’m not a seafood eater but my boyfriend is and he’s always wanted to come to here so we did and it was delicious. I’m always so hesitant of the “land” food at a seafood place and my sirloin was so delicious and cooked exactly right. Gabriella, our server, was so attentive and sweet it made my experience wonderful. I felt like she genuinely cared about my meal. Also the cocktails were great.

Met up at Joe's Crab Shack with family from Arizona. Our reservation was for 6:30pm, yet we arrived early, and we're immediately seated and served our drinks of choice. The Shack sits right on the River, with decorated boats slowly pushing by in the evening dark, all lit up, right in front of Joe's large picture windows. It was very nice. Just outside the front door, the highly decorated "Polar Express", about 25ft. away, passed very slowly by announcing it's arrival to the finish destination to the Old Sacramento train stop. Again, very beautiful and festive for the Holidays. We then met our server, ''Jen', who was very pleasant and thoughtful throughout our dinner experience. Jen saw to our every need or care, sometimes without even asking, as she noticed the void and acted on her own. VERY, VERY GOOD AND FRIENDLY SERVICE FROM JEN, ALL EVENING LONG...! The food was very good and satisfying portions too. 3 of us had sea food, and one ordered a Pasta plate with shrimp. Ask the plates were cooked well and delicious..! Overall, a great night out with family and a very good dinner to boot...! THANK YOU JEN FOR TAKING GREAT CARE OF US, YOU WERE GREAT...!!!

Love the air at this old Joe. Have dinner here during my business trip, had a Shrimp sample and it was really good. I didn't have that much shrimp for a dinner before, may be a group of 3-4 would be the okay too. The staffs were so nice, they asked me if I would needed anything for a couple of time. It was like a very warm and cozy restaurant, although it is a big one. Impressed by shark at the center too. Such a wonderful experience it was. Maybe I should have booked for a seat next to the window, there was the beautiful Zigurat view.

Ate at Joe’s Crab Shack on Saturday and just have to say that our server Alyona was amazing! Super friendly, super fun, and she made the whole experience feel like we were eating at an old friend or family member’s house. She was also very attentive. Our drinks were never empty and she had answers to all of our questions. 5/5 would definitely request her as our server next time we come in.

Stacy was our server, and she was absolutely delightful. She was professional, attentive without being intrusive, and kind. She made special arrangements for my son to have a shark drink without carbonation since he has sensory issues. The food was good, well priced, but they were out of oysters. :( It is after a holiday, so I expect they were busy and sold out. We will be back again! Lovely experience. Still trying to figure out the hard boiled egg in the crab boil thing though lol.

Wow! This place is amazing. I was having a bad day and didn’t want to cook so I came here. My server was super nice and attentive. She was basically at my beck and call. Made the whole night soo much better. Kaitlyn was a super star. My drinks and order was spot on. Food was hot and taste. Not a fan of the Mac n cheese, but the shrimp was amazing!! Service was great. The staff that clean the tables were very nice and helpful, truly appreciate them. Went to Joe’s Crab Shack for a casual seafood night. The place had a fun, upbeat vibe with friendly staff and some music routines that added a playful touch. It’s definitely more about the atmosphere than anything fancy. The food was decent — I wouldn’t say it blew me away, but it hit the spot. I tried one of the sampler platters and a shrimp dish. Some items were better than others, but overall it was enjoyable. Portions were generous, and it’s a good place to share plates with friends. Service was good, though a bit slow at times, probably because of all the performance stuff. Still, everyone was cheerful and welcoming. It’s a solid spot if you’re looking for something lighthearted and relaxed. Not the best seafood I’ve had, but worth a visit for the experience. Would go again with a group!

A table opened up outdoor and we had a nice view of the river. We have eaten in Joe’s Crab Shack at Oceanside. The food and drinks were delicious. Service was good.

Loved the atmosphere of this place! The menu looks built around sharing with large groups of people. As I was by myself and was feeling more peckish than extremely hungry, decided to try just their clam chowder which was actually quite nice. Friendly staff and service. The food is reliable however basic, what you expect from a chain. The service, Armando in particular was excellent, despite being busy. Major reason to select this place: the view, which is exceptional at sunset. Tower bridge and sea lions seasonally over Sacramento River.

Absolutely loved Jeremiah, I haven’t been here since I was younger and it was nice to come to downtown Sac again. And especially loved the lil souvenir cup that came with the drink I would’ve thought it’d be more expensive since you could take the cup with you. P.S you should totally give Jeremiah a raise, I really enjoyed his vibe and how helpful he was with my mom when she had questions

This place was pretty good. The only thing that I would say needed improvement was the service for a larger party. We did have a party of 12 on a Saturday night and it was a busy day. The waiters were amazing though. The food took a while to come out. Other than that this place had great food and drinks. I recommend the mason jar margarita!

Absolutely amazing atmospheres. The bathrooms are super clean and the service by Beto was amazing. My date was not completely happy with her choice of meal. She wasn't happy with how her flounder tasted and the sauce that was applied to it. She thought it was more like tilapia than flounder!

Food was okay, but the service was great and view as well. JEREMIAH IS A GREAT SERVER!!!!

I have been to a Joe’s Crab Shack one time before and it was a decent experience but this one surpasses that! The view is absolutely stunning and there may be boats passing by as you dine! My only concerns were the speed of the service because it wasn’t packed, there were empty tables, yet my server still was flustered and took 30 minutes at a time to even check back with me. Im assuming they might be short staffed. Another issue was the oysters. Now I LOVE raw oysters but something seemed off with these oysters. The presentation was great, all the dressings were there and temp level was good but there was a slime/creamy layer to the oysters that made me nervous. I did go on to order the half spinach and half crab dip which was great. I paired that with a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, my favorite and it sealed a good experience. Overall I absolutely would return and try other items.

The service was great. Server was very helpful and knowledgeable. Food was not so great. Seemed like it had been sitting for while. Wife’s wasn’t happy with her drink but pretty sure it was a prepaid thing. Unfortunately don’t know if my family and I will be back.

We had a reservation and still waiting a half hour. Then when we were seated took forever for drinks. The after sitting forn1 hr she.came to see if we wanted apps. Everyone said no, I said we are hungry and would like to order our meals. She took a couple drink orders and walked away. Until I asked for the manager did she finally came another hour later to finally take our food order. We got our food couple orders were not completely right. But the.kids were starving so they ate it anyways. After we ate the waitress let us know that because we were a large party (4 separate bills) thY we would be charged 18% each for gratitude. Yes i agree we should be charged automatically however not per ticket 18% on the full amount of out tickets. Which would have been way less. Because honestly being n f a former waitress myself she did t deserve 5% and I have never said that. She was just slow on her followup. It took 15 minutes just to get butter!!

If you’re looking for good seafood, this is definitely not the place to go in downtown Sacramento. There’s many other places that would hit the spot. This is more of a tourist attraction. They overcharged us for our clam chowder. The portion was extremely small. I got the captains platter. this plate was not worth the money that was spent. The crab was overcooked and extremely small legs with barely any meat. The fish was ok the one good thing about this place is the views that’s why I gave it three stars for the atmosphere besides that the service was horrendous. Nobody checked on us and when they brought us our clam chowder it was thick like it had been just sitting there all day. I would definitely not recommend this place for seafood.

We waited 1 hour and 26 minutes for food. We were told the whole restaurant was backed up and waiting. While the manager did take a chunk off our bill, we had to complain and ask for service before anyone communicated the lag. I think a long wait time and busy Saturday is fine as long as the staff communicates woth customers so we understand the wait is 1.5 hours for food from order time.

I debated whether or not I'd make this review, because I don't think reviews help change things. If they did, I wouldn't have to write this review right now. I have been coming here about two to three times per year for the last 15 years and is one of my favorite places to go. At least it used to be. I came in on Veteran's Day with my daughter and my girlfriend. My daughter and I were excited to take my girlfriend here because she has never been before. We made reservations for 3:30 but then changed it to 4:15, though there was no need for that as plenty of seating was available when we arrived. We were quickly seated outside where we wanted and started looking over the menu. A few minutes later, our server Lucy (the name of the server on our receipt) came and we ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks came, then eventually the appetizers. After the appetizers were gone, we sat there waiting to order our main course. Finally Lucy showed up and we ordered our main course, which took a while but finally came and was very good. I ordered a shaker margarita at this point, which took a very long time to get. When it came, it was the wrong flavor. When I saw Lucy, I told her it wasn't what I ordered. I gave the drink back and she went to have the correct drink made, shaking her head as she walked away and was visibly annoyed with us. After 45 minutes, the drink finally comes back and doesn't have any alcohol in it. Not only did Lucy seem annoyed with us that our order was wrong, but it took forever between checking on us. We were there for exactly two hours that night and left very disappointed. Our bill was over $200 and we only left a $10 tip because of the terrible service. We never leave a bad tip, but felt that we had no choice. And to think; I could have gone to a place that offered a free meal to veterans but chose to eat here instead. I really do not know if we would ever come back here again, and I am embarrassed for talking this place up so much on our way there just to receive the service that we got that night.

I just ordered from Uber Eats delivery and it was disgusting. 🤢 not fresh - lobster was dry- fried shrimp was cold and hard. I will Never order from here again. 2-20-26. RED LOBSTER 🦞 is hella better 💯

5 of us went there Lobster was the driest. I ever had my wife's steak was Superdry. My sister's food was cold and dry My nephew got a kid's cheeseburger. cold and dry with old and hard hamburger bun had to send it back cause he couldn't eat it. And we were all done and ready to go. And still didn't get his cheeseburger. The only good thing there was the drinks and they weren't very busy, and it wasn't even the holiday.

In my honest opinion, being that I have worked in the industry and dined out all over the US. This has got to be one of worst experience I have had. Bill came to over 60 per person which is fine, but the wait time alone to be seated took 35 minutes when there was plenty of available tables. Then once seated, took over 20 minutes to get a drink order in with the appetizer. No apology for the wait. No water was ever brought out at all during that time. Food was very bland, steak was terrible, cold, and had a rubbery texture. Seafood boil was a very average taste, appetizers were cold by the time they were brought out. My friend from out of town decided to get chicken of all things. Chicken was absolutely disgusting. I have eaten here 4 times over 10 years and the last time I had brought my girlfriend here, she had gotten food poisoning. We tried to write it off as a one off time, however it seems that the service, quality, and staff themselves are declining. I will not be returning anytime soon, nor do I think I would consider eating at this establishment again. I would have rather spent that $170 elsewhere or even spend more for a better experience.
