For everybody that travels to the USA from Germany this is a must to place to visit, the food is excellent and with the best customer service you would ever get else where. The hostess Megan was great, she was very nice, met all our needs and was just an over all sweet person. She had great recommendations for the entire menu and we smiled and enjoyed ourselves. They have the German feeling, of not being rush to eat or to pay, you can sit back talk, laugh, smile and enjoy each other. This is a very European place, so stop in and enjoy yourself.
Prep & pastry is one of the best brunches I have ever had in my entire life. I have come here many many times and every item is delicious! My favorites are the everything croissant sammy & the biscuits with duck gravy (but you can’t go wrong with anything)! *recommend checking the waitlist before you go, there is always a long line!
Fantastic brunch spot. Best service we've had in such a long time. You could tell the employees really enjoyed working there and were very friendly. Food and drinks were great, we loved the Monte Cristo and biscuits and gravy. Cocktails were good too. We will definitely be back.
This place did not disappoint!!!! Absolutely recommend! Great atmosphere, super awesome staff, AMAZING food, very reasonable prices and great mimosas! We had a large group and they were very welcoming. Average wait time, definitely worth the wait no matter how long it is. They gave us a few complimentary pastries to try. Food was absolutely delicious, they also checked to see if anyone had any type of food allergies and accommodated them. Great Vegetarian options as well! We will definitely be coming back!
I came in to pick up my order and I realized that I ordered from the wrong location. The staff was extremely accommodating and offered to remake my order for the location I came to annd after apologizing several times and making sure they were OK with it. I got my order and everything was delicious.
Amazing breakfast/brunch!! Not only was the food wonderful and the service excellent, but you can also order two half orders for one full breakfast!! Going in, I was torn between the Cast Iron Duck Confit and the Green Chili French Toast, and I was able to order a half serving of both. As mentioned above, the service was awesome. They were friendly, attentive, and very helpful. This is definitely my new weekend breakfast place! I would highly recommend Prep & Pastry for anyone who loves great breakfast food.
My first time going here, the food was fan-freaking-tastic! I didn't get a greasy sandwich like I saw some other people say here on reviews. We got our food quick and there wasn't too many people at this time of a Friday around almost 2:00 when we arrived. I hope to get fast service even when it's a bit busier on other days, but overall it was fantastic and the atmosphere was very relaxed. ☺️
My first visit to P & P and definitely not my last! The atmosphere is fun, staff super friendly (we got a yummy free treat bc it was our first visit, a churro donut with cream filling!!!!) and the food is on point. Fresh, creative, and so yummy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The buttery body it’s and herb sausage gravy were an amazing combo. I can’t wait to try the Benedict next time!!
Had breakfast on Saturday morning. It was quite busy, only one parking spot available. We were seated quickly and waited on fairly quickly. Very glad we came, I had the "All Hail the Omelet ". Some of the best if not the best potatoes and Omelet I've ever had. My son had blueberry yogurt, he said it was fantastic.
5/5 stars!! This restaurant will be my go-to every time i visit Tucson. Our server Keely was so sweet and attentive and the salmon hash was delicious. Thanks guys!
Prep & Pastry is a great find and a real treat. The food was creative and delicious. The coffee was top notch as well, my only regret was not having the time to get a pastry as well. The facility is very large, airy and feels new. The staff is very friendly and attentive. All smiles and good cheer. I would love to eat here again.
This place was extremely cheery and everybody was so nice. The food was delicious and there's a manicure pedicure shop across the street that we ran straight across into and got manicures (not me,just the girls!), so it was an even better experience!
I am not a typical breakfast potato person, but I forgot to swap them out while placing my order. I am sooo glad I goofed bc these potatoes were absolutely delicious. My son & I loved them so much, we left our resort to dine here a 2nd time during our vacation. The staff are super friendly, and the atmosphere is quaint. Can't wait to go back!
Yum!! Brunch was wonderfully tasty and our server was fantastic! I had the Classic Breakfast with bacon and fruit, hubby had the Cast Iron Duck Confit with side of fried chicken, we shared the Classic French Toast...and have to confess, although full, we could not pass up sharing a sticky bun with our coffee (tiny bit guilty but oh so worth it) These sticky buns are a hot item, and they go fast, so make sure you grab it if they have it. Overall great experience. Cant wait for our next visit. Thank you Prep & Pastry!
I was visiting Tucson for a few days to check out the University of Arizona with my daughter. I was so impressed by this restaurant that I came back for a second visit! The food was delicious and the service was great. Picture of the simple breakfast as well as the Avo & Herb toast.
Food was delicious! The only down side is no ice is served with your ice. It’s 105 degrees outside and the last thing I want is chilled water. It had flecks of unknown matter but I wasn’t going to that stop me from eating one of the best churro donuts I’ve ever had. Their classic french toast is fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. Their plain Jane pancakes were buttery and fluffy. My turkey Harissa Shashuka was delicious but it tasted more like chille instead of traditional Shashuka which is made of tons of onions, harissa and tomatoes stewed with traditional Arabic spices. I’d order it again anyway because it was good.
SOOOO BOMB. Very reasonably priced for this style of restaurant and quality of food. everything was delicious and our server was super nice and attentive as well. There were a couple sneaky upcharges ($5 for two slices of bacon) but that happens everywhere so just be aware when your server suggests an add on
We ate here twice on our 2 week work trip and it was delicious both times. They have a huge selection of drinks for morning boozers, their meals are well composed and balanced. I definitely felt like it was a good value for the price which is around $12-14 a plate. A drink will set you back another $10 but they were so delicious it was worth it. Definitely don’t leave Tucson without giving it a try.
**Katie at Prep & Pastry** I recently had the pleasure of dining at Prep & Pastry, and I was thoroughly impressed by both the food and the service. The meal was delicious, with every dish perfectly prepared and full of flavor. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service provided by Katie. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was top-notch. Her warm demeanor and professionalism made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I’ll definitely be returning soon. Thank you, Katie, for making my visit so memorable!
Great place, food and drinks were amazing. Wait was a while but the wait time they gave us was accurate. Got the Sammie and it was very good. My wife is gluten free and she enjoyed her gluten free omelet. Everything I try here is very good, I especially enjoyed the bloody Mary. I'm not a big cocktail guy but it is delicious and the shot of Guinness it comes with is a nice touch.
Best breakfast in Tucson so far... great Exo coffee, service and food presentation. The food flavor was pretty polarizing, either sweet or savory, not a lot of go between. The food was reasonably priced. I'd like to come back and try the eggs Benedict! I loved that the bloody Mary came with a beer back.
I been meaning to try this place for a while now. When I heard they opened a location in Scottsdale and the line was 2 hrs long; I said that’s it, I have to try it. It is perfect for a brunch date. Good luck deciding on what to get! The menu is so extensively creative you will have to come back and try the 3 other options that had you torn. I always try for a sweet and savory and the monte cristo French toast sandwich was the best combo without greedily wanting to order two entrees.
Such a cute breakfast/brunch place! The food was top notch and the pastries were fabulous. I listened to the reviews and got the cast iron duck confit and it was worth it! My husband got the bacon poutine which was also delicious. Fantastic mimosas as well.
Everything was wonderful. I wish they had spicier hot sauces, but the food was still amazing and the staff was very friendly! We had 9 of us so we made reservations. They sat us a few minutes early and were very accommodating with our party size. One vegan option, and it was delicious
Brunch hits that sweet spot between cozy and creative. My croissant sandwich was flaky in a way that made a mess, but a satisfying one. Good coffee, friendly staff, and a menu that doesn’t try too hard. The patio’s great for just zoning out in the morning.
Top level food. We tried the Duck Confit and the Smoked Salmon Hash. Lovely potatoes, great sauces, and very deliciously fat meat on both dishes. The only two things I wish were different: 1. They offered Espresso drinks, 2. I had more room to eat!
Such a cute spot for brunch with friends or family. The food is delicious & comes looking picture perfect, a win for the insta girlies! Servers are super polite, the interior is v cute & also dog friendly. It is a bit on the $$ side but def lives up to the hype :)
Great and quick service!!! About an hour overall from seated to paying. The lemon honey lavender dousant was delicious! Definitely a different flavor from a doughnut or croissant but good nonetheless. The desert daisy cocktail I got was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were so so so good and the fried egg on top really made it great. Would recommend going here for breakfast / brunch if you’re looking for a great, not terribly expensive meal.
Great breakfast or brunch option. The smashed potatoes with rosemary were a welcome delight over standard breakfast potatoes. The menu is varied and intriguing, if I lived locally I'd eat my through that menu. The bakery items on the counter are all Instagram worthy. Service was attentive and my prickly pear tea was fantastic. Legit spot with adult bevvies available. 10/10 would repeat.
The breakfast here is always beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The presentation makes each plate feel special. Staff members are attentive and genuinely welcoming which adds to the experience. The atmosphere is warm and modern with a comfortable vibe. Portions are generous without sacrificing quality. I enjoy how creative the menu is compared to other places. Every visit feels memorable and worth returning for. It has become my favorite spot to start the day.
Took my best friend to try something new and it was fantastic! I barely remembered to take a picture. The food tasted great, big portions, orange juice freshly squeezed, the chicken not too much breading and crispy, the potatoes were crispy and soft, the duck sausage gravy (I believe) was delicious and service was amazing. We will return in the future but possibly share the biscuits and gravy with fried chicken as we both liked it!
One of the most popular brunch in Tucson. Please use yelp to join line in advance if you want to have dishes on weekend. The restaurant is lovely. We are party with 6 ppl. Most of us are first time here. We check the top5 dishes on yelp. Those are really delicious. You will not regret.
Everything here is fantastic from the servers to the food quality/quantity. Not expensive whatsoever and the variety is sure to meet everyones cravings. The pastries, which go fast, are delicious and made fresh. We ordered an omlete and a monte christo, fiancee loved her peppermint oatmilk coffee too. Can’t go wrong with anything, always excited to come back!
Delicioso
I had a fabulous breakfast there (Campbell location) yesterday. Maybe my best restaurant breakfast ever. It was the cast iron duck confit. The server was excellent. I was interested in the Duck when I saw it in the menu, so I asked the server about it. He said it was one of his favorites, so I was sold. As I was enjoying it, another patron was leaving, saw my dish, and had to tell me she had just finished it and how much she loved it. I can't wait to go back for another.
My family had a great experience here. There are different menu items that range from just the simple eggs, bacon and toast breakfast to poutine or green chili French toast. I guess a little something for everyone to try. The pastries were delicious. We split several items and all of them were good. The cinnamon roll was fluffy with a good and not too sweet frosting. The raspberry donut with chocolate frosting was very tasty as was the cookie dough croissant donut. Our food was all fresh and the staff was very good as well.
I wanted to take my girlfriend out to a nice place for brunch and we came here around 2 PM to eat. Salvador was our server and he was incredibly kind and informative on the menu. He also gave some great recommendations. I really enjoyed the variety on the menu as well as the pastries. We truly enjoyed our food and want to give a shout out to all the cooks. You could tell they were working extremely hard and we’re putting out great food as everyone around us seem to be very happy as well. We will definitely be back thank you!!!!
Tummy tickling tasteful in Tucson! Wonderful experience, service was great even on Mother's Day, they even had flowers for moms! The atmosphere was pleasant and seating was close but not uncomfortable! Food: Very tasty with little grease! Most of the food seemed baked or grilled rather than fried. Flavor was great, size was healthy but not too much. Everything we had was great! Would recommend everything we got. We were very impressed with the service. Our server Angel was one of the best servers we have ever had! Very personal and welcoming! We will be coming back!
Loooove this brunch/breakfast spot in Tucson, we have breakfast here every single day while in Tucson! their Prep omelette is my go-to, pesto, goat cheese, spinach, smoked tomatoes, served with a side of the most amazing roasted herb potatoes, I look forward to getting up early just for this! service is great too! my only suggestion would be to offer espresso coffee and cold pressed juices <3 I'd love to order that with my food.
They have tasty food, good portions, plenty of options, gluten and dairy free options and good service. The process were standard for the type of food they serve. They were busy, but not overwhelmed when we got there at 9a. I would go back. I had the omelet with goat cheese and enjoyed it.
Pretty good place. The food was good but not mind blowing. The place was a nice layout. We sat out in the outside seating which was well spaced out, decked out with plants and misters. Rose pastry (something like that) - this was a bit tougher than I expected. But was pretty and had good flavor. The icing was really tasty. Monster Bowl - I wanted to try something different. This was a nice light and healthy option, especially on a hit day. Blue Cheese Burger (something like that) - the patties were huge and the bread was nice strong and fluffy. But the patties weren't juicy or particularly flavorful
Fantastic food, great variety, but service and prices are ok. Loved the homemade turkey sausage, potatoes, and the amazing French Toast. Can't say enough about the French toast especially the "Milk & Honey" and "Chef Kayla's Call" (which was strawberry and chocolate churro). The toast is fantastic, and the pastry cream is delicious. You can replace your toast from the "Simple Breakfast" to French toast, but the upcharge is too much ($4). Food is tasty so you gotta try them out.
Came here for brunch and ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the commoner’s burger. They were okay, tbh I could’ve gotten a burger/chicken sandwich somewhere else for a much better price. The fries that came with them however, were perfectly crisped. The servers were nice enough but it’s kinda hard to distinguish them from other customers.
Food is fine. Chickpea scramble recipe has changed over the years—the sauce helps the flavor. I preferred it when it was fluffier. Sweet potato bowl with salmon is not very impressive—leave it as one piece of fish, not broken up into tiny pieces. Service fine. PLEASE DUST AND REPAINT. Years of dust show up on the white paint on the ceiling and walls, go for a light blue instead.
It was a fun experience and the waitstaff was awesome. The menu has good options and a whole vegetarian section which is great. Some of the options could be improved, taste wise, in my opinion. The gravy was a little plain. The meat on the Benedict was a little chewy. Overall, a fun place to go with a group with lots of options.
Food was really good and big portions. Yukon potatoes were A+++++. Not a perfect score because most items have hot peppers. However, I managed to order something and asked to remove the hot peppers from my order. Pastries were ordered too and it was also very good. Also, table was very wobbly. I will come back!
The food was pretty good although the price seemed a bit high for what your getting. The sticky Carmel pecan pastry was amazing! The inside interior is so cute. The only thing a bit disappointing was the customer service, our waiter seemed very annoyed we were there. Everyone has bad days we get it, but this guy seemed to be a bit over the top.
Prep & Pastry is a great place to eat breakfast or brunch. For those people who like to drink alcohol with their brunch this is an especially great place since there's some emphasis on doing so. Prep & Pastry has several very tasty dishes and their bacon is amazing. I've tried several dishes and I really like their simple breakfast with bacon. Prep & Pastry has fluffy tasty pancakes too. I really also like their hot teas served in a small French press. I consider it one of the best places to eat breakfast in Tucson. [3/13/18 UPDATE] I changed my review from five to four stars because of my visit here today. I ordered the biscuits and gravy dish. The dish tasted okay, but with the buscuit's thickness it needed more sausage gravy. The buscuits simply were not smothered enough in gravy. I coughed while eating because the buscuits rubbed against my throat and parts of the buscuits were dry. If the buscuits were adequately smothered, I would not have coughed. Additionally, quite a bit of time passed between when I took my last bite and when a server asked me how I was doing. Today, this reminded .e of a previous visit where after my food was served the server never came back to ask if I needed anything. On that particular visit I wanted more to drink as well as some ketchup. **TIP - If you like to eat ketchup with your breakfast potatoes, make sure you ask for it when you order your food. The servers don't seem to ask if you want any condiments.
We were seated right away. We got the fried chicken sandwich, half order of both the curd French toast and biscuits and gravy, and a kids meal. The chicken sandwich and fries were mediocre, I didn’t particularly like the biscuits and gravy. The kids meal was good, and the curd French toast was amazing. Ourservice was mediocre as the waitress hardly came to check on our table and we didn’t get our juice until I finally asked a manager for it.
I have been to Prep & Pastry before when they were located up the street in a much smaller place. They have moved locations to a much needed bigger building with a lot more space. Let me start off by saying the food was great and our waiter was good! I feel the one thing that kept my visit from a 5 Star was the reception. The 2 young ladies were that were up front were cordial but just not inviting enough. The place is extremely busy and being in that position would require a lot of patience, logistical skill, and the ability to smile through all the craziness. On to the food.......I had a the Biscuits and Gravy with 2 over easy eggs, and the fried Chicken. It was the BOMB! Guest 2 had the French Toast and Guest 3 had the Green Chili French Toast. I tasted both and it was the BOMB! I would say the new Building is twice as big but the wait (30 to 45 minutes) is still the same on the weekends, so be prepared. They also have a location on East Grant Rd. Gonna have to visit that location soon. Recommend :)
We were seated within 15 minutes after arrival. Very nice and friendly hostesses. There is lots of outdoor seating and the indoor seating is pretty spread out. The Bloody Mary and the Thai drinks were very good but it did not have much alcohol in them:( Everyone was happy with their selections. The chicken and French toast was great however I think I will order the chicken sandwich next time because I didn’t get a lot of chicken. It’s a nice place to go with a twist on some classics which we really enjoyed.
Excellent place to go for traditional dishes with a major twist. I can't stop eating the green chili jalapeno lime French toast. I love sitting on their patio in the morning sipping a hot cup of coffee with my puppy dogs.
Waited 30 minutes to get a seat, but totally worth it 👍 The entire restaurant is white and spatial, it's definitely chilling and relaxing, very popular among young generations. First thing first, strongly recommend you to order "steak and egg sandwich" 🥪, both the steak and egg was tender and juicy, and totally go along with the chewy sour bread. Will also recommend their commoners burger, patty is one of the best I've ever had. While their sweets is something that I won't recommend, as it's pure sweet without flavor.
Been here probably 5 times since we moved to Tucson. Pastries are quite good. Menu is aimed more like an elevated breakfast/lunch. Usually service is quite good. But we are in a odd season while Tucson waits to have the snow birds so today was a bit slow. Slow on coffee refills, pastries after food, missing condiments. Seemed a bit understaffed today. Price on average I would say is 17-25$ on average. This is definately a spot you would want to try here in Tucson.
Came here for brunch on a Saturday around lunch time, they’re were so busy. We didn’t have to wait long, maybe 20 minutes. I loved how they use yelp, made it easier to track. Service was good considering how busy they were. I got the chefs French toast, which was the strawberry lemon pie. It was pretty good, not too sweet but I couldn’t taste much of the lemon which was honestly fine with me. My friend got the grilled cheese and soup and it was delicious. I also got a side of the potatoes. MUST GET THE POTATOES!!! They’re crispy and flavorful and yummy. I also got a chai latte, so good. My friend got the mocktail live free or die hard, he thought it was too sour but I liked it. I wish we got a chance to try one of their pastries but we were stuffed. We’ll definitely be back but probably at a less busy time.
I wish I would have noticed the pastries on the way in. I saw them leaving, and several of them looked delicious. I think most of the menu was probably honestly just too gourmet for my personal preferences, which isn't a bad thing. There are definitely some unique dishes available if you're looking for a nice brunch, and everything has a little bit of a unique twist (apple juice had a hint of lemon and honey, iced tea had a hint of blueberry, etc.). I got the Simple Breakfast with a chorizo patty. The chorizo patty was good. Everything else was fine but severely lacking seasoning. I usually take any leftovers with me, but I didn't get a box because there was honestly nothing that I wanted to eat more of later. Nothing was bad or cooked poorly, it was just mostly flavorless, and condiments can only do so much. The service was good, not great. The restaurant itself is cute and cozy. What I tried wasn't my preference, but I think this would be a nice place for brunch and mimosas if you're looking for a cute gourmet place, and I wouldn't mind returning to try some of the pastries!
Love Prep! Such a nice spot to go to for breakfast or brunch. I will go back and change this to 5 stars once they can offer proper coffee! It seems odd to me to have such a great breakfast spot and not be able to order a latte, cappuccino or even get steamed milk for their brewed coffee.
It doesn't really live up to its hype. My overall opinion is that it's pretentious. Here's what I liked: There was apparent precision in cooking technique. Crispness in the potatoes, eggs cooked exactly right, confit tender and moist. Brightly lit atmosphere. Prompt server. Pricing and portions were manageable and not inflated like many places. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Here's what I didn't like: The hostess was paying attention to something else. We asked to be seated at the half booth (there was one open and no one else waiting) she said there'd be a wait so we agreed. Then she said nevermind I have a table for you. Apparently she immediately forgot the request because she sat us at the back of the restaurant in a 2 seater table. I didn't bother disputing it. Our server was so-so. Also an air of disinterest like the hostess. Just enough to get the job done and not anything more. My food while cooked well was bland. I was surprised by this because I expected it to be flavorful based on how well the cooking was executed. Just lack of salt and seasoning in general. (My husband's food was well seasoned but it was the shakshuka and that is a strongly flavored dish). I had the duck confit. The duck itself was the only thing in the dish that seemed flavored. Bland potatoes was disappointing considering how crisply they were cooked. I'm not salt crazy but I had to salt my food multiple times. I ended up adding hot sauce to punch it up some. The decor feels like a Pier 1 store design. Not my preference but not incredibly relevant that's personal preference.
Didn't have to wait long to be sat and have the food delivered. Food was also good, potatoes were softer than I expected but that's a person tastes. I also got the steak and egg sandwich; the toast had a good crunch to it and the steak and egg was delicious and well priced at $16. The reason for 3 stars is the service, the waitress was friendly but that's about all. When the water was delivered I noticed the serving cup was maybe a litre and the glasses themselves small (not a huge deal), the issue is in the serving glass having water stains and a dish washer stain along the inside of the glasses neck. On top of that is that I did not have my water refilled once; I sat there for about 20 minutes without any water in the glass and not once did it get refilled. It didn't help that multiple times staff walked by and didn't notice.
Our server was slow and disinterested. Eventually we had to ask a busser to bring our check because our server was too busy standing around. The food was very tasty but too greasy. My fingers were sloppy wet with grease after eating my sandwich. I had to wash my hands because the napkin didn't cut it. Also their wait-list appears to be busted, we were done eating and the restaurant was half full when we got a text telling us our seat would be at least another 10 minutes because they were so busy, huh??
My girlfriend ordered “Prep’s Relleno", which is purported to be a stuffed poblano. Turned out to be an empty poblano, no cheese stuffing, no stuffing of any sort, no breading, not deep-fried, covered in scrambled eggs… not exactly a relleno. Maybe they should rename it “Prep’s Poblano”. She wasn’t too thrilled with it, rating it 2 stars. I was in the mood for French Toast until I looked at the menu and the “Cast Iron Duck Confit” caught my eye. I asked our server if it would be possible to have the eggs sunny-up rather than over-easy and was told “certainly". Alas, the eggs were served over-easy. Nonetheless, the dish was delicious and worthy of 4 stars. Their coffee tasted like it was made with one of those old “Yuban” industrial pre-measured baggies you put in a drip maker that renders a peculiar chemical taste of old PE sock-water flavors. They might want to revisit that! When our server asked it I wanted a refill, it was with reluctance I answered “sure, why not…” I probably didn’t finish it. Only 1-star for the coffee. We sat outside on their covered patio, which is dog-friendly; the patio faces Campbell, which can be a trifle noisy with traffic. Atmosphere on the patio felt like a mediocre 3-star. They were doing brisk business and the parking was near full, but a car was pulling out just as we were pulling in. Wait time for the patio was announced 5-10 minutes; our wait was just under five. They ask for a phone number for the wait list and text you when your table is ready. Prices were in-line with other restaurants of this class. But!… Prep is yet another establishment that decides to pass on their credit card fees to you, the consumer… and it would appear they tax you on your kind offer to pay their credit card fees, as the tax line appears below the fees total. Nice. Just keep those fees in mind as you await your “generous rewards points” from your credit card. At best a low-end 3-star experience that with a few tweaks could be easily improved: 1) Do something about that awful coffee; 2) Stop asking your customers to pay your credit card fees; 3) Assure your back end staff do a better job at presentation: my eggs should have been sunny side up; my girlfriend’s chili relleno should have been stuffed as per the description in your menu.
I got excited when I looked online to see if there were places that offered gluten free foods and Prep and Pastry were the first to show up. The area/atmosphere was really nice and chic, but when I got my to-go order, I was rather surprised at how brown my avocado was (which means it was left out for too long), and I had a completely burnt/charred potato along with my omelette. The omelette is really nice but they said it had goat cheese in it, when it tastes almost like ricotta and cream cheese... So I don't think I'll be dining here again. Thanks for the experience, but I'll find somewhere else for breakfast 🙂
We discovered this restaurant when we were in Tucson for a wedding 3 years ago. We have been there several times since and it seems the quality of food has gone downhill. After our last visit, will find a new breakfast place.
We had a really good experience at the grant location, followed the next morning with an inexplicably poor one. While in tucson for parents weekend we took our daughter to this location because the one closer to campus had a 90-120 minute wait. The food and service were both excellent, so good in fact that we planned to meet our daughter's roommate's family there the next morning before we all headed home. The website said no wait, and though we tried to call just to confirm that there really was no line, nobody answered the phone. So we took it on faith and showed up to an empty restaurant and the hostess telling us that she couldn't seat us because the whole restaurant was closed for a private event. There was nothing online, no updated phone message, nothing at all to indicate that the 20 minute drive would be a waste of time. We were offered a scone and a $10 gift card by way of apology. At that time, the Campbell location was somehow showing zero wait time, which, after another 20 minute drive, also turned out to not be true. We showed up and the line was spilling out the door. In short, the food is good, if you can get in, but don't trust the website for a second, and know that if you do make the trip, you might get flat turned away at the door due to an unannounced private event.
The food was delicious, but I was disappointed by the portion size, as I finished it in just a few bites. When I asked for the receipt, I realized I had been served a half portion instead of a full size, which I had not ordered and was not aware was an option. The waitress acknowledged the mistake and apologized, offering to provide the remaining half to go. While I appreciated that response, I was then informed that the total would increase by $10. I would have been happy to pay the full price if I had initially received the correct portion, but given that the error was acknowledged as a mistake, being charged extra was disappointing. The waitress was kind throughout, and the food quality itself was very good.
A year ago I ate here (central tucson location) for the first time and everything was delicious! I really looked forward to coming back. So disappointed in my return visit. All food ordered was very underwhelming. I ordered the Monte Cristo which was described as : Herb brioche French toast, honey roasted ham, swiss cheese, pineapple-jalapeño mascarpone. What I received was two incredibly thick pieces of bread with no hints of herb, one thin slice of ham, and one slice swiss. I did not taste or see any signs of the pineapple jalapeño mascarpone. It was dry and bland. Also my friend never received her drink, but other than that service was friendly and prompt. So bummed cause I was really looking forward to it and had hyped it up to my friends.
I've been here a few times for brunch. Food is consistently good. They could really do better with the potatoes. The indoor area is super cute, clean modern barn style. Parking can be tight but usually can be found. Some of the waiters are a bit inattentive and don't check in enough. Out last waiter seemed stuck up and like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
We really wanted to love this place. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and has a great atmosphere. The service was okay, friendly but nothing that stood out. Unfortunately, the food was very average and overall disappointing. We were hoping this would be a standout spot, but it just did not deliver in flavor. With so many other places in Tucson offering much better tasting food, this one did not impress us. Most likely we would not return.
We tried the burger at the Tucson Festival of Books on Saturday and really liked it. So, we decided to visit the Campbell location for breakfast on Sunday. Sadly, we were disappointed with the service. The food was okay,I ordered the Cubano sandwich, my wife ordered the Return of the Mac, and we shared the French toast. The carnitas in the Cubano were really good, as were the fries. However, the mustard was very spicy, which I didn’t like as much. The service, unfortunately, was lacking. Our server only came to our table three times: once to take our order, a second time when we called her over to order mimosas, and a third time to bring the check. I was never offered a coffee refill, nor did she check in to see if everything was okay. Strangely, as soon as we put our utensils down, she appeared with the check, which felt rushed and impersonal. We had high expectations, but unfortunately, they were not met.
I came here to treat myself, becausea friend recommended. I got attended by the front desk girl who looks like she was having a bad day or something personal. I got seated then the waitress check with me ask me if was something to drink when she was serving me water, I told her I'm ok but looks like she didn't like my response for not ordering coffee or something. Then I ordered my food and I got it too fast (like in 5 minutes) to my liking. The meal was ok. Felt kinda bland even with the seasoning and spices. I was expecting a little kick of spicy but nope. Then when I was done with my meal, the waitress just picked up the plate and bring the check. To my surprise, she didn't try to interact with me, while the other tables she was very friendly, and even asked them if they want a pastry after they're done with their meals, never got asked at all and I was thinking getting myself a pastry. My mind was blown away pretty much I felt she didn't want me to be there. This a place that gets very crowded during the weekend. When I left, I saw a lot of people waiting to be seated. I won't come back and tell my friends about my experience. I won't bring them here after the service I got.
Hype hype hype huzzah! Full hype. Sounds great. Looks good on social media. Tastes average. For the record I had Avocado pesto omelette, and only potatoes (fancy name is Prep Omelette). I could taste the mediocre ingredients and be glad. It has a confusing menu that under delivers. Even the server can’t suggest how to improve my experience. So, if you want something that doesn’t spoil your day or doesn’t make it any better go for this.
Weird experience at best. My man got the Shakshuka, and it was awful. The whole sprigs of cilantro were embarrassing as well. No one wants to eat cilantro stems, and it takes almost no time to trim your cilantro. Tasted nothing like the Shakshuka we've had, overwhelmingly pepper flavor. We were excited to try it as you don't see it on menus often. There was no wait for our table. My matcha was the WORST matcha I have ever had in my life. Whoever in the back that's making it needs to watch a youtube video or something because I have never had such bitter and grainy matcha before. It was a disgrace to matcha, and I don't say that lightly. My duck confit tasted great, but the speed at which everything came out was quite concerning. We ordered our food, and it came out not even 4 minutes later. They definitely had it pre made and waiting, which is not a good look when I'm spending 60 bucks on brunch. I would not return despite how many people have told me how great this place is. The duck confit was good, but knowing it was sitting there until I ordered it is disgusting.
I giving them two stars because the service was good, but the food was not. We ordered grill cheese and the french fries were burned, and the cheese had no flavor, same thing with the flavorless pancake, the classic french toast was ok, nothing extraordinary or delicious. The concept and decor are nice and beautiful, but the entire restaurant needs some cleaning and maybe hire cleaning experts every once a week. The jar where they brings you water was dirty (the top was covered with hard water) I believe is time to change the water filters and buy new jars!. I won’t be back.
Sterile and cold surroundings. Service is non existent because servers are busy talking with each other for extended periods of time and forgetting their job. Food was mediocre at best and not hot for sure...see lack of service comment. Nothing had any flavor. My monte Cristo breakfast was a bread sandwich as I had to search for ham and cheese. My sister thought it was French toast. Her egg and sausage sandwich had way too much sage in sausage. Sad sad sad ...Forget this place.
prep and pastry has a nice atmosphere, somewhat upscale, and had superlative service. Unfortunately the food was hit and miss. I was taking my friend out for a birthday breakfast. They ordered the biscuits and gravy, and it was cold and floury. The second batch that they brought was almost exactly the same temperature, and the gravy Inedible. The manager came by immediately and inquired about the issues with the food. They were nice, professional and took it off the bill immediately. Our waiter was helpful and very nice too. My entrée was much tastier as it was the hollandaise with smoked salmon. Unfortunately, both my friend and I became ill after we got home which we suspect was due to the duck grease in both dishes. This is just speculation, but as our symptoms were identical, we are convinced the cause is the food. I hope that they can get their kitchen together because they do have a good crew otherwise.
I had heard good things about this place and wanted to give it a try, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the hype. It my husband, and my parents and I and right from the start, the service felt rushed. The waiter took my drink order along with my dad’s, but since my husband and mom were still deciding, he walked away without waiting or coming back right away to take theirs. Throughout the meal, he only checked on our table once, even though he stopped by other tables around us multiple times to ask how their food was. It honestly felt like we had to hound him down just to get what we needed… The food itself might have potential, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but the lack of attention and poor customer service really ruined the experience for us. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.
I ordered the Kale Caesar Salad, which on the menu is described as coming with shaved parmesan, chili flake, charred lemon, bread crumbs, and Caesar dressing. I also added grilled chicken and avocado for an extra fee. What I received was extremely disappointing to say the least. My order was just a bunch of dry kale with no dressing, a few pieces of grilled chicken, and a plain, uncharred lemon wedge. There were no chili flakes, no shaved parmesan, and no breadcrumbs in sight. The salad was bland, dry, and missing almost everything that was promised. Honestly, this was one of the worst salads I’ve ever received from a restaurant. Maybe I’ll give them another chance in the future and try a different menu item, perhaps the Cobb salad, but I would not recommend their Kale Caesar Salad as it’s currently prepared. Looks nothing like advertised in the photos and socials.
