The cheese fries burger was very good. The Chicago dog while not topped like a normal chicago dog still tasted good. Fries were also really tasty. The customer service is surprisingly good for such a buzy place.
The dogs are fantastic - so many choices and varieties. Burger are on point and the “Sup Dog” sauce goes on everything!
Sup dogs is a really fun restaurant on Franklin Street with lots of hot dogs and burger options and tasty drinks. The wait staff and management are very friendly and upbeat. We all enjoyed our food and watching the football game.
Came in for lunch and we were super pleased with our food and service! Some of the best chili we have ever had. We had the slaw burger, slaw dog, and chili cheese dog. I also had a cherry limeade crush drink and the juice was fresh squeezed and definitely tasted like it. Great drink!
My daughter took me here to grab a bite for lunch after moving her in to an apartment all morning! I thoroughly enjoyed and inhaled my meal a Hawaiian Burger, 2 NC hotdogs and onion rings, hit the spot! Did not disappoint, will be back. Also, our waitress was the Sweetest and so attentive. Place was packed but we were still served very quickly and checked on multiple times. Nice job! Will be back. Prices are very reasonable too.
I've been craving good hot dogs for several days. I ordered Sup Dogs for delivery. I wasn't sure how well the dogs would keep in transit but boy did they hit the spot and arrived beautifully wrapped!
Sup Dogs was great!!! Came in on a crowded friday night and got served right away. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and cheese fries and the food was legit. I received generous portions and delicious food. The cheese fries were great - especially when dipped in the ranch or special sauce (as pictured). The Chicken sandwich was tossed in an appropriate amount of buffalo sauce and was the perfect density. Altogether the food was a 5/5. My review should really be a 4.5/5 because I do have one complaint. My food was $17. For someone looking for an affordable option- this is definitely not it. I understand I got cheese fries but the prices still seem a little steep to me. Most hotdogs are over $8 here as well. If you have the money to spend here, the food definitely won’t let you down, just think it’s a little high. The atmosphere makes up for the pricing if you have plenty of time to spend or go in with friends on a game night/ weekend night.
Sup Dogs! Warning!!! Don't skimp on the napkins. This little hole in the wall dog and burger joint is the epitome of local delights. With their homemade chili, hand smashed burgers and all beef hot dogs you're in for a treat for your tongue. The long fries are cooked to perfection crispy on the outside soft and decedent on the inside. Dip them in the sup dog sauce and man oh man have you got a delicious combo. Prices are mid-range for a burger stop but worth every penny. Their in house brewed sweet tea is refreshing. I had the bacon cheese fries burger and my wife had the slaw burger. Yes you read that right bacon cheese fries on top of a 1/3 pound fresh beef burger patty. The hardest part of the whole experience was deciding what to order, every thing looked and sounded delicious. Will be going back!
I was in the Chapel Hill area and decided to visit the same place we went to when we toured the college for the first time. My son suggested I try the chicken sandwich, so I tried the hot honey BBQ chicken sandwich, and I have to say, it was absolutely delicious. I'm definitely planning to return soon to give their hot dogs a try.
Their hot dogs are so yum and tummy filling You pay $2 and can add an extra order of hot dog Their toppings are really good and well curated menu. Love their sauce, fries and onion rings My fav is Chicago dog.
Me and my grandfather went for lunch and dinner today. We got burgers for lunch, hotdogs for dinner. Both were excellent. Our waitress, Courtney was impeccable. We will be coming back every time we visit Chapel Hill.
After bopping around town to find dinner, my partner and our out-of-town guest ended up at Sup Dogs. We were treated kindly and with patience. Loved the drinks and simple menu. Of course, it’s bar food. But it’ll do. Service was great and we were able to sit outside.
7/10/2021 first time bk since COVID. So glad it’s still as good as we remembered. Our meals were just as we hoped. Staff was attentive and seems like the tables are more spaced out. 2/2020 Finally was able to stop in for an early lunch. We were not disappointed! 1st of all I thought it looked like a small place from the outside, but once we walked in, we were happily surprised to see it was a good size restaurant and there is table service. Food was delicious and totally worth the calories. I look forward to the next time already.
What’s not to love about Sup Dogs? Very friendly staff and Kelsey, my waitress, had great customer service! I’m a Duke fan and raised in NC, so when I saw how close this was to the UNC hospital, where my mom is at the time, I HAD to try it. Good thing I didn’t wear a different blue shirt. This place is DECKED out in Carolina. I went on a Sunday and it was perfect. You pick where you sit, FYI, and my slaw dog combo came out super fast. Decent amount of food, for the price. I also had the “orange crush” which they literally make right there with a fresh squeezed orange. If you’re on the fence about trying it, I assure you, it’s a must try! I will be back.
I’ve had a mostly great experience at Sup Dogs on Franklin Street. The vibes are always top-notch, especially when Jesse is working—he really sets the tone, keeps the atmosphere lively, and the music always complements the mood. The food is delicious, and the service is generally fantastic. However, I had a less-than-ideal interaction with one of the female waitresses. When I tried to give her a tip and simply asked for her name, she dismissed me quite rudely, and said “I don’t have a name”, which was disappointing. It was a bit off-putting, and while I still enjoy the place, that experience brought my “ Service rating” down from five stars to four. Overall, Sup Dogs remains a fun spot with great food and amazing energy, especially thanks to Jesse. Just be prepared for the occasional less-than-friendly interaction.
Hotdogs and hamburgers is what this place is all about. I have not tried their burgers but had their Hotdogs and fries and they are the best around. Now you can only do so much with the dogs themselves so it's all about the toppings and the hotdog chilli is best around. The fries were perfect, hot, crisp... what could you want more !
Took the family for lunch and by FAR the best hot dogs in Raleigh!! Try the one with chili, BBQ sauce, and topped with onion rings! Yum!! The boneless buffalo wings as well as the cheese and bacon fries were fresh and delicious and holy cow, the pizza fries was an amazing flavor combination! Fresh red oak beer on tap was delicious and the service was top-notch. Food was delivered fast and very fresh and well not the cheapest, definitely was worth every penny. Fantastic job guys!?
Had such a great experience here!! Christopher is an excellent server and treated our group kindly and efficiently. Love the food here; so delicious. Best Franklin Street restaurant vibes by far. Highly recommend!!!
Visiting from out of state and wanted a unique dining experience for breakfast. This place has delicious food and coffee, friendly staff and a sweet history. Highly recommend!
The Carolina Coffee shop is such a cute little hole in the wall dinner. The food is amazing, the prices are more than fair, our server was named Lauren, and she was awesome! The restaurant was slammed and she was cool, calm and collected under pressure. Besides being super sweet, she got our food out to us fresh and hot and i never had to ask for a refill. I would recommend the Carolina Coffee Shop one hundred percent if you are going to be in the area. You will not regret it.
I’ve been going to CCS weekly for my office hours this semester, after being a semi-regular for years. This place is a classic for a reason. They can get slammed at peak hours, so you might need a reservation, but the servers are great and the food is fresh and tasty. The Tar Heel Protein Bowl is my current favorite—love the greens and eggs. Too many excellent servers and hosts to name all of them, but Reagan, Josie, Dylan, Nicholas, Riley, and Shelagh have all been awesome on multiple occasions.
If your a student at UNC and haven't stopped here... you get an "F." The food is awsome, the waitresses and hostess are cute!!!! Get the coffee house burger. Damn!!!! A mountain of goodness served with a beautiful smile. Wish I had more time to explain but this place needs no explanation! August 27, 2025 Again, I had the fantastic opportunity to visit Carolina Coffe Shop. Again, we were served by the very cute and energetic Sage! I love the food and vibe of this place. My steak n eggs were the best I had anywhere. That says a lot. The workers in this place seem very happy so people, tip them well!!! That's by the Order of the Peaky Blinders. Thanks again for the coffee Sage. 😘
Really nice place! First time here. It was very busy but worth the wait! Wife got the chicken and waffles and it was good! I got the burger w/goat cheese, fried egg, etc. It was delicious. Service was great. College kids. They get it done!! The place is very Historic. I felt pretty privileged to be there. Will definitely come back.
The food, drinks are delicious and the service is always fabulous! A peppermint mocha coffee and the banana oatmeal pancakes were just what I needed this morning. The coffee was festive and flavorful; however, with all the whipped cream it cooled off fast so next time I’ll ask for 1/2 the whipped cream. The pancakes are always yummy and light.
Living in CH for a few years now, I really appreciate how reliable, cozy and decent CCC is. The town doesn’t have too much on tap, but CCC is a nice brunch, great booth seats, wonderful service, and pretty good prices! The food is nothing to write home about, but it’s also not an outrageous price. $10-14 meals. Coffee runs from $3. They have loads of breakfast set options, the eggs are real and fresh, and they have vegetables !! I feel like that is often rare for American breakfast dining. This is a good spot for meetings and catching up with friends. Pretty much no need for reservations, except maybe some “busy” weekends (eg parent’s weekend or a big game). Coffee is pretty good. Could be stronger. They have lattes, espressos, cold brews, teas, etc. Eggs are good. What about the avocado toast? Man. It’s decent. I just thought as a civilization we figured out world class Avo toast- why haven’t we spammed the recipe everywhere?? Thankfully they provide a lemon. But the slice of bread needs to be a thicker cut. I think the avocado is also not 100% fresh, almost like it’s mixed with mayo or something. Salt, pepper, maybe some chili flakes. Although we are in the South so I’m not too surprised about the spice profile - you can try asking, the servers are super friendly!! You can (and should) add Eggs, your way. If you have opinions on poached eggs, keep them to yourself and order sunny side up. Overall, if CCC were in a city like New York with more competition, it’s a 3-4 star review from me. But because of how rare and useful this atmosphere is in Chapel Hill, it’s a 5. Good subsistence breakfast spot to have a 1-2h conversation. Oh and notably, the staff are phenomenal. So detail oriented and friendly.
WOW, 1st time at the Carolina Coffee Shop, this is the MUST to go place in Chapel Hill! The food was delicious or, as I would say, (DELICIOSO) The atmosphere was super, the price was very reasonable, BUT! The service provided by GRACE and Esteban was FABULOUS! WOW, great suggestions and every minute with a smile on their faces. If you are in Chapel Hill, NC, This is your location for breakfast! Carolina Coffee Shop is a ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ location!
I am a regular at this restaurant and each time it is a positive experience. The food is always great and there is something for everyone on the menu. I have tried and recommend the chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits. All of the staff are very kind and consistently check in on customers to make sure they are still doing well and have full drinks. My servers have always been happy to quickly bring out things we need like more drinks or sides. I have had Ryan V and Marie G as my servers recently and I have nothing but compliments. The wait times are very reasonable, of course it takes a little bit longer to be seated and get food or drinks when it is really busy but that is understandable. I love the cozy, warm, and friendly atmosphere inside the restaurant, and the outside seating right on Franklin Street is great as well and perfect for if you have pets. 1922 next door (also a part of CCS) also has good vibes and great service and I am looking forward to going there more for coffee as well once it reopens!
By far, the best and legit breakfast we have had, during our 4 days staying in Chapel Hill, NC, USA. Servers were friendly, food quality were great, hot food, not warm, and taste very good. Sunny side up eggs were nicely cooked, the steaks were perfectly cooked as well. The egg Jennifer was great as well. Price was very reasonable. Pet-friendly restaurant. Will definitely visit again if we are in town. 5 stars!!!
AMAZING❣️ first of all, everyone is super friendly, it does get busy so expect some wait time. We waited about 30 minutes. But they do take your phone number and call when you're table is ready. Menu has something for everyone, if you're into coffee, it's amazing. All of our orders were delivered in a timely manner. Fresh and great portions for what you pay. Overall great location, clean and comfortable.
The food I got to try were the Jalapeño Tator tots, veggie burger with cheesy tots, and the veggie hot dog with onion rings and their secret sauce. I also had a couple French fries to taste. The jalapeño tator tots were just tater tots topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, and chopped jalapeños. I will say that they were decent, but I was a bit disappointed as I love spicy food and the jalapeños they used were pretty mild. After tasting, I determined that the hot sauce they used was most likely Texas Pete. The veggie burger was really good. The patty itself was pretty savory and not too salty as some make them. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the patties are made in-house. The cheesy tots upheld its namesake -- tater tots with melted cheese on top. Tasted heavenly when paired with ranch or with mustard (or other dressing of your liking). The veggie dog had lettuce and cheese, a pickle under the wiener, and the wiener itself. It was cooked properly and tasted pretty good. Wasn't spectacular but definitely worth a try if you want to cut back on meat. The onion rings weren't the best I've tasted, but were still decent. They could make them better by frying them a bit longer or using a different type of breadcrumb mix (unless they use frozen onion rings). I was told that their "secret sauce" was suppose to be a mixture of various sauces. Take this as you will, but it pretty much just tasted like BBQ sauce. Finally, the service. I would say that for the level of crowded it was that the service was phenomenal. Both of the people who served us interacted with us and were friendly, even if we had come kinda late night and they were probably already working for some hours. Overall: some of the food was great, some was good, but I'm cutting a star because nothing was spectacular. Take that with a grain of salt though, I would definitely go here again, and I think it's worth a try if you live in the area or are visiting!
Are you ready to full, well this is the spot for you when have a taste for Hotdogs or Hamburgers. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. They haven't disappointed us yet. Just make sure you bring your appetite. You will be leaving here with the itis😆. The customer service here is good and you don have to wait long for food.
I always wanted to try sup dog. I happen to be in downtown today and decided to stop in. I tried the western hotdog. It was good. The rest of my party ordered and everybody ate everything. The nice thing about sup dog. Doesn’t cost a lot to sit down and eat. The food is good. They also make some interesting, frozen drinks. My server was excellent. Didn’t have to wait long for the food. If you’re in a hurry to have something hot to eat, that’s good and inexpensive in downtown Chapel Hill. Sup dog fills the build.
We went in this morning for breakfast and we got a table for two in the booth immediately. The place has a nice vibe, which surely got us excited. It was also an almost full house so we were really excited for having a wonderful time. The server comes 10 minutes later, thumps 2 glasses of water and walks away. After waiting for another 10 minutes we asked someone if we are going to be asked for our order, then the server come another 5 minutes later asking for our order. We placed our order and it took a while for anything to come out. I completely understand it was a busy day with the game happening. Was it too much to just explain that ? The Eggs Jennifer was ok. The muffin was dry and old, but the eggs were done well. The side of hash brown was good. The French toast was brilliant, I can surely come back just for those. We ordered two cocktails, the expresso martini was meh, the chocolate nut mocha was great! Overall I wanted to love this place. But hopefully I will have a better experience if I try it again.
Was here for 45 min and saw our server twice. All three in our party got a coffee and water and we never saw her again to get refills. When the omelette came with all of the shredded cheese cold and not melted, I asked if she would mind microwaving it and the waitress said that it was “how it was served”. We politely thanked her and ate our cold cheese. After not getting checked on again, the food runner was kind enough to bring us our checks.
the food is good but the service is terrible, white customers seem to be treated a lot more friendly. Waiters never ever come to you without you flagging them down, making it impossible to order or get the check without waiting about 30 minutes. This is even if there aren’t that many customers. They should really work on getting their waiters to be more friendly and attentive.
Had what we thought was a lovely Sunday dining experience, only to have my wife violently vomiting multiple times just 3 hours later. She had the chicken wrap. Can only suppose that either the chicken was tainted or that the lettuce greens were not washed properly. Possibly a hand washing issue with whoever prepared it ? Very disappointed since we had planned to return in the future. Unfortunately, that is now unlikely. UPDATE: Thanksgiving day. My wife is still not completely well since last Sunday. Barely able to enjoy the holiday with our grandchild. I just saw another review from last August where two others became violently ill within hours of eating the chicken wrap. This is unacceptable. Either get this right or take it off the menu. Being busy is no excuse for unsanitary practices or standards. You may not be busy for long if others share these experiences. Thanks for spoiling our Thanksgiving holiday.
