Great food!!!! I loved their scrumptious meal full of various flavours. Highly recommend this place. I went yesterday night near to closing hours. The staff was very courteous still welcomed me and served me everything freshly baked and grilled . Just waited for 15min n my freshly grilled chicken with amazing freshly baked special turkey bread was ready in a short while with minimum waiting time. My family loved the food.👌👍👍👍
What an awesome spot. The food is absolutely fanatstic. We get the esme, hummus, and chicken wraps every time they are so good! Also it is super reasonably priced for what you get! Delicious food and the staff is great!
Wonderful service! Everything was smooth and the employees were very nice. The food was delicious! Highly recommend!
I recently dined at Alibaba restaurant, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight. The food was simply fantastic, bursting with rich flavors and authentic spices. The front-line employees were incredibly attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I can't wait to return to this restaurant one day. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a sensational taste of Turkish cuisine. Simply put, it was a sexy dining experience that left me craving for more.
Our family has been eating at Ali Baba's for 20 years. We are vegetarian and appreciate all the flavorful salads, beans, stuffed grape leaves, cheese pide, and of course the fantastic lavash bread fresh out if the wood fired oven. I absolutely recommend!
One of the absolute best restaurants in the area and then some. I was introduced to Ali Baba by a former bestie. She was always in the lookout for incredible food. The food here is so fresh, delicious and well prepared. The service is so excellent with the staff warm and welcoming. I highly recommend you check it out. You will be returning! They do dine-in, take-out, and they deliver. Everything is delicious! Treat yourself to their sampler and make sure to get a lavash. It’s an amazing bread that’s cooked in the brick oven and it comes with a delectable yogurt dip. And, leave room for their baklava. It’s a totally fantastic honey. Phyllo dough, and pistachio treat.
This is probably the best place to eat within walking distance of RPI. I've had many lunch memories with my research groups here. I still stop by here whenever I'm in this area.
I went there with my brother and the family. We have 2 young boys. We ordered various items from the menu and it was great. We loved it. Boys really enjoy the atmosphere as they were keep talking with the staff. It was really cute. We also meet with the owner. I highly recommend this please.
Simply put..... WOW! I'd give them 6 stars if that was an option. So delicious!
We stopped here on our way home to Connecticut from Vermont to meet friends who live in Troy two weeks ago. My husband keeps trying to get me to go on a road trip back there. It was that good.
This has been a go to place of mine on a monthly basis for almost 10 yrs. It’s delicious, healthy and fair priced. I love grabbing the dips and sides with a large lavash before meeting up with some friends. Makes for a unique snack and everyone’s always impressed.
Had an amazing meal here the other night! The lamb kebabs were amazing! Flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The mezze platter was a great start, with all the dips and appetizers being super fresh and tasty. The staff were really friendly and made us feel right at home, even giving us great recommendations. And the baklava, heavenly! This place is a must-visit if you love authentic Turkish food. Can’t wait to go back!
Okay, I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place deserves one. The food is amazing, and they’re kind and friendly too. The appetizer platter is a great way to try a lot of things. We were super impressed!
OMG the iskender! We have to go 40 minutes to Troy at least once per month to get it! Get the big lavash and take home some white sauce.
Ali Baba is a gem for Mediterranean cuisine! I had the pleasure of trying their Iskender Kebab, and it was absolutely delicious—thinly sliced beef and lamb with a perfect balance of spices, served with a flavorful tomato and yogurt sauce. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for dining in, but they also make it easy to take out if you’re in a rush. If you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean food with a twist, Ali Baba is the place to go! Highly recommended!
We had Ali Babas cater our wedding and people LOVED it. We had to order more halfway through and they came out and delivered it within an hour or so. Guests even showed up the next morning to pack up leftovers to take home. We coordinated and worked with Jay (Olcay) to place our order and communicate. He was easy to get in touch with and responsive. Highly recommend these guys for catering for any future event you have!
Visited from out of town and loved it!! The ajuka (think it was called) dip was phenomenal and the lavesh was fresh out of the oven. The iskender was delicious!! Friendly service and very affordable!!
It's been 7 years since we moved out of troy and every time we go back for a visit, we make sure to go here. The food never disappoints. They're one of a kind. Can't recommend enough.
Exceeded my expectations in every single way. Excellent, flavorful good cooking. Vegan and vegetarian sides were just as good as the meat. Whatever the meatball is from the meat combo plate, chefs kiss bc that was the best of them all for us. Service was warm. Not a fancy environment which was even better since the food here speaks for itself.
Great comfort food spot, friendly staff, and good family energy. Top lunch or dinner in Troy, hard to go wrong with any dish, would recommend iskender kebab or durum. Fantastic complimentary lavash bread and yogurt with every meal.
We have been coming here since 2000, every time we go the food and service is amazing. Unfortunately we moved to Ohio, so we dont get to go as much anymore but everytime we come back we go eat like 3 days in a row.. I even told the guy im going to cater their food for my wedding. 10/10 food.
Been eating here for 20+ years. The food has always been great- the staff has changed over the years but always friendly and fast… The food is authentic and great!
It had delicious Mediterranean food with great service and atmosphere. The Lavash was amazing and delicious. Highly recommend.
This hidden gem consistently delivers dishes that delight the palate and exceed expectations. Every visit is a culinary adventure, showcasing authentic Mediterranean flavors and fresh ingredients that never disappoint. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean food then make sure to visit Alibaba—it's truly a must-try! We’ve been coming here and ordering takeout for years and it never disappoints!!
This is some of the best food you can get in Albany. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very nice. I highly recommend it for people who may want to try a new cuisine because the food is very approachable for the American palate. But it's also very authentic and delicious, so I'd also recommend it to anybody who loves pan Mediterranean food too. Great options for vegetarians!
I am coming every time this restaurant and I should say that everything iş perfect and delicious.thanks for all employees.
I been in this restaurant at least 3 or more times before this review, they offer fresh baked Turkish Nan for each table, it is right from oven itself, most of the things are homemade and fresh,it is family owned small but delicious place , I tried gyro wrap, Pide ( turkish pizza ) , fava beans salad, eggplant salad everything was superb, I will repeat again and I highly recommend this place
My friend and I shared their large appetizer . It came with 15 different kinds of foods to try , all with a huge pita bread for each of us to enjoy ! The price was excellent , we were full from just the app! Less than 20 dollars and a great experience trying some different cuisine .
Food was very good, service was mediocre. I called in a reservation, then they made me wait ~20 mins when they had open tables. Not sure what the reservation did. For apps, we ordered the plate of 5 options with lavash bread. The baba ganoush and red pepper dip were excellent. The dolma were good but not amazing, hummus tasted like store bought mediocrity, and the tomato paste-based dip with nuts was good if you like that stuff. For main course, we got iskender kebab, the meat dumpling type of dish, and a wrap, all of which were excellent. For dessert we ordered the baklava. It wasn’t the crispiest as it had probably been sitting out all day, but it was still flavorful
Would leave 10 stars if I could. This place is INCREDIBLE. We came up from the city so I could take the Bar exam (super scary stressful test). I was hoping for something Mediterranean for light and healthy but not expecting much. We were transported to Turkey. The pizza oven with fresh breads was warm and beautiful. Each dish was more flavorful than the next and the whole team here is warm and welcoming. We ordered to go for lunch tomorrow and are going to come back for dinner on our last night. This is my favorite kind of food and they’re doing it right. Thank you!
Good healthy food amazing taste beyond friendly and hospitable staff 5star all the way. I have been going there for 18 years now. It amazes me how they are able to maintain the taste and quality of their food consistency is not easy to maintain in restaurants business. But I am glad to be able to enjoy same quality and taste every Time I go there and We as a family go there a lot it’s one of our go to places. I ve taken 20 guests there they were able to to move tables and set up for 20 guests with big smile. My visiting family from Maryland and Boston ask me to take them here.
We recently found out this little gem in Troy and have been a fan of this place since that day. From food to service everything is just top notch. Do try their lavash bread with the garlic dip, shessh kebab and Adana Kebab. Also, this is the only place in capital region which serves Kunafa. So don’t miss it! Highly recommended!
The fresh lavash bread is delicious and comes straight out of the oven topped with sesame seeds and with a plate of yogurt dipping sauce. I ordered the adana durum, (a lamb and beef gyro). The meat was nicely seasoned and hot, not too salty, but the rest of the wrap was cold (cabbage, sauce, and bread). I would have liked it better if the bread was warmed as well but the taste and flavors were very good none the less. Service was good, restroom clean, and there are a decent number of tables. I would stop here again.
Tried this Mediterranean restaurant and we just loved the place. Chicken was really fresh and tender, perfect taste as expected. Finally we ended with the dessert which everyone likes “Baklava”. Definitely a worth visiting food chain with friendly staff and service, chilling atmosphere.
Ali Baba is a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant in the Capital Region. Their Chicken Iskender is the best! Chicken Shish is also very good. Their unique offering of salads on their menu is one of the best in the area. Try their “mixed plate” to try all of their salads. Not to be missed is lavash bread with yogurt sauce. Their menu offers a variety of choices ranging from kabobs to pizza. Ordering takeout with them has been great! Items are done on time and no waiting. Give this place a try!
Fresh lavash from the brick oven with hummus. Then on to kabobs, curry, wraps, All the food is fresh and delicious. Generous portions. Cozy and bright atmosphere. Go try it. It has been there for years and is consistently good.
The absolute best Greek salad with grilled chicken I’ve had in a really long time! The celery salad was also delicious! Highly recommend!!
Been going here since I was little. THE FOOD IS PERFECT
Ali baba is AMAZING!! I love ordering from them but they have also catered multiple events for me and whenever we need catering they are always everyone’s first request. The prices are very fair, the food is always exquisite, and they do a great job of delivery/presentation. Can’t recommend enough!
The best Beef Durum, Yogurt Sauce, Hummus, and Lavash in the 518! I joke around that my first born was mostly made from the food from Ali Baba! I ate this so much while pregnant. I have dined in and ordered take out. Always a great experience.
So delicious! We were visiting friends in the city and they took us here. We ordered a bit of everything and it all was so delicious. Make sure to order plenty of lavash bread for the table and some fresh hummus.
This was a great restaurant to try new foods that I have never knew existed. It’s perfect for after you have dental surgery as most of the foods are super soft and already ground up for easy consumption. I did not try the pizza and the bread was a little difficult to chew with my temporary partial, but all the other items were delicious.
I've driven passed this place so many times and said I need to check it out. A lil over a month ago, I was at a gathering w friends in S. Troy....they ordered a handful of dishes from here that we shared. OMG!!! I'm so upset it took so long to finally try their food....EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS and portions were plentiful! I so recommend this place to everyone. I finally went back on Halloween for lunch. I got their small sampler; ate maybe ⅓ of it there; shared the rest w my Wifey the next day at home. They thru in an extra pita to enjoy w my leftovers. My ONLY complaint....I don't know if they has recently mopped (good thing) or a mop bucket was nearby but it smelled like one was nearby when I ate there, ie. Soapy bleach water. Won't stop me from going back....that's for sure!
This is a small restaurant off of the main drag. It appears that it's mostly locals who dine here. (Which is a good sign!) We found this place while looking for a place to eat near our hotel. I will stay by saying I loved this place due to its authenticity. Two men working their tales off filling orders in a kitchen that was completely viewable from the sitting area. We were surrounded by families and locals and everybody was nice to us. I ordered the Mediteranian Pizza and it was very very good! You can tell all ingredients were fresh. I would certainly order food from this place again if I was in the area.
Found this gem in Troy, NY, and had an amazing dinner experience. Plenty of seating was available, the staff were nice, and the service was great. We ordered the Iskander Kebab, which came with rice and onions—absolutely one of the best dishes I’ve tried in a long time. The Adana Kebab was also tender and full of flavor. I wasn’t expecting such authentic Turkish food in a place like this, but it turned out to be one of the best meals I’ve had in upstate New York. They also serve freshly baked bread with a yogurt dip as a complimentary starter—the bread tasted so fresh, and the dill in the yogurt dip paired perfectly. Highly recommend this place, and I will definitely be back!
I had an amazing experience at Ali Baba Turkish Restaurant in Albany! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. From the warm bread and appetizers to the main dishes, everything tasted authentic and made with care. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is very friendly, attentive, and made us feel at home. It’s clear they take pride in both their food and service. If you’re looking for a place with true Turkish flavors and a great dining experience, this is definitely the spot. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
Best Mediterranean Restaurant in Troy. If you live in Troy you need to go here often. I went to school in Troy and discovered Ali Baba towards the end of my second year and I only wish I found it sooner. Became a regular and now if I am driving by I plan to stop here for lunch/dinner. I always get a Lavash Bread with some dips, the Ajuka is my favorite dip. Then I rotate between three dishes. The Beef Durum with spicy sauce, the Curry Iskender, and the Beyti Sarma Kabob. I have also gotten their Pide Meat Lovers and Curry Chicken Pizza which are outstanding. Everything is made in house and the flavors are fresh and tie together well. I am on a hunt to find a similar place in Manhattan and I am stillnot succuessful after multiple tries. Ali Baba remains one of my all time favorite restaurants. Highly Recommend.
Ali Baba had been on my must-try list for a year, and we finally made it! It definitely lives up to the hype—authentic, delicious Mediterranean food. Every dish we tried was incredible. For appetizers, I really enjoyed their lavash bread, and their white halal sauce was my favorite—I actually preferred it over their hummus. Seeing their wood-fired pizza oven, we had to try a couple of pizzas. We ordered the Ali Baba’s White and the Doner Kebab pizza. Both were delicious, but we all agreed that the Ali Baba’s White was the standout. I don’t typically go for white pizza, but since one of our friends can’t eat marinara, we gave it a shot—and I would absolutely return just for that pizza. It was ooey, gooey, the onions added a perfect crunch, and the flavors were just 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 I was craving a wrap, so I went for the beef wrap/dürüm, packed with beef, Ali Baba’s white sauce, and onions. The portion was huge, so I had leftovers for lunch the next day. My boyfriend enjoyed his mixed kebab dish as well. The food was fantastic, and I definitely need to come back to try their baklava! I also loved that you could watch the staff cooking—especially the guy making the bread. There’s plenty of seating, and service was quick. Just keep in mind that parking is street-side only. Can’t wait to visit again!
We visited on a Thursday for lunch, and while there was no one there when we got there the place filled up quickly it's easy to see why. Very good food and friendly service. We ordered way too much food, though, wanting to try a bunch of things. All was good. The large Lavash bread is very good, and also very large. Same with the pizzas.
I was very impressed with my experience at Ali Baba this past week. Although it has a large dining area there are many takeout orders that primarily serve as a large part of their business. The food was phenomenal. They gave huge portions for their prices. You can’t go wrong with the yogurt sauce and the pita bread. The Kebab is the best kept secret in my opinion. Can’t wait to go back.
I've been enjoying this restaurant for 20 years. It has changed owners a few times since then. We enjoyed lavash bread with a mix of 5 salads to go with it. I absolutely loved the yogurt dill dip. So yummy! We also shared a wrapped kabob of Donor (lamb). For desert, we enjoyed the baklava made with pistachio. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great experience in Troy, NY! Real Turkish/Mediterranean, delicious food! Can't recall the names of everything we ordered, but it worked out great to order 4 or 5 dishes and share amongst us. Lavash bread was fun to watch bake and rise in the open fire oven. Delicious with the yogurt sauce and food. Atmosphere is not what we went for, and I thought the exterior looked great and loved their signage. Interior was more bare bones, almost deli like. Would definitely return if in the area to try more menu items.
We were a big party and called in advance. The staff was extremely friendly when we walked in and made sure our table was PERFECT! We started with a pizza for the kids and the chef made it in the brick oven immediately. It came out before we could even order our meals. We started with hummus, stuffed grape leaves, chemen and ezma salad. Everything was amazing!!!!! For our mains we had the meals listed in our pictures. The pictures don’t do the food justice. Everything was steaming hot when it came out and the staff kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall a great afternoon with family and delicious food. Highly recommend for healthy options, great portion sizes and caring staff.
We have been to this place several times and it’s one of the good ones that maintains the food taste and quality and quantity. This place serves the best Lavash bread with various sauces on the side. Kabob for some reason most of the time are either under cooked or over cooked. Other than that this place has pretty decent food.
The food was absolutely delicious. The staff is extremely kind and warm. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because once it got busy, the quality of service dropped slightly, which was solely due to not enough staff to properly take care of everyone at once. I will definitely be coming back here and look forward to making this one of my go-to spots to eat when I'm in the area.
I have a regular order that I get from them (cheese pide and various vegetarian salads. Always including barbunya and havuç tarator). Tonight I ordered a pizza from a famous place in the same city (we all know which one) and got left on read for two hours before they marked the order as “delivered” with nary a pizza in sight. Panicking and with less than an hour before Ali Baba closed, I turned to them. and in twenty minutes both my stomach and taste buds were satisfied. They saved my dinner and my evening. These folks will treat you right: never doubt an impulse to order from them. (They would get an eternal five stars if I could dine-in but their restaurant is all tile and too loud for my ‘tism. All the same I’m ride or die for Ali Baba: they’ve been treating their regulars right since I was thirteen)
If you're in the mood for some delectable Turkish cuisine, you can't go wrong with Ali baba restaurant! This eatery will transport you straight to Istanbul with its authentic flavors and wide variety of options that are sure to please every palate. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! The dishes at Ali baba are nothing short of remarkable. Whether you're a fan of savory meats, vegetarian options, or sweet desserts, there's something here for everyone. Each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail, ensuring that every bite is bursting with rich flavors that will keep you coming back for more. One thing we must note though is that the meat portions here are a bit inconsistent. On occasion, you may order two of the same dishes and notice that one has less meat than the other. While this may be a slight inconvenience, it's nothing that a repeat order can't fix. Trust us, the food is so tantalizingly good that you'll gladly order twice over. Lastly, we must address that occasionally items may be forgotten by the kitchen. However, with Ali baba's mouth-watering food, it's practically impossible to hold a grudge. The flavors here will leave you in a state of bliss that makes it hard to be upset with anything. In conclusion, Ali baba Turkish restaurant should be on your list of must-try restaurants. With its authentic cuisine, impeccable service, and exquisite flavors, it's hard to go wrong with this choice. So head over to Ali baba, and take a culinary journey that you won't forget!
I saw all the fresh bread that they cook in the oven and was pretty excited. Sadly reality didn't match that. I ordered a chicken wrap and the wrap was not terribly fresh. The chicken was quite tasty but there were very few vegetables and definitely not enough of the yogurt sauce. Baklava was okay but nothing special. I've had far better food at State fairs and food trucks that are creating the same thing.
Nice Mediterranean place with many awards on the wall but it didn’t meet my expectations on the quality and taste of the foods. It was average and nothing extraordinary. Place was clean and hygienic. Good for casual dinning and pickups. Servers were not very well versed with English, had a bit difficulty in placing the orders from the table. They have both Vegan and Non-Veg options. Some food items come with free bread. Combo platter will be my recommendation from the list.
This place is highly nostalgic to me. My family took my fiance and I there because the food has a reputation of being en pointe in terms of flavor, authenticity, etc. However, I was sorely disappointed when this time, the first time being there in (maybe) a decade, I had concerns about the sanitary practices after seeing a cockroach which I promptly moved outside. Make no mistake, where there is one cockroach, there are always more. Ali Baba management, please do all your customers a favor and hire an exterminator.
They served us something from their menu which was nowhere close to what we asked for. Chicken was not grilled, more like pan fried and dry overcooked. Food quality last year was much better. They left a bad taste our mouths because they failed to acknowledge that their quality and quantity has gone down.
We came to the restaurant with high expectations but were disappointed. Despite waiting for 45 minutes, our order was incomplete. The waiters were indifferent and did not try to find a solution to our complaint. I do not recommend this experience to anyone.
Lamb Guvech. Meat was hard and lacked taste. Tasted more like beef. The dish wasn't good at all. A few pieces of red pepper that gave some flavor that's it. Clean enough. No music. Prices average.
My main complaint is the fat on the beef. I do not understand why they don't clean the fat off properly. I order a beef durum for example and there are balls of fat. Also, too much salt. Ali Baba had nice quality food back in the day but not anymore. The only good thing about them is their salad variety and bread.
