Opiniones de Truth Barbecue Houston
This place is such a special place to me that I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a high quality BBQ experience to visit Truth BBQ immediately. Texas is rife with incredible BBQ experiences, but Truth has a very special element that sets it apart from everywhere else I’ve been in Houston, Texas. All of their staff people have excellent experience that has taken them all over Texas including places like Lockhart, which is the BBQ capital of Texas. What you will find is that all of their staff is full of passion for meat over of the fire as they strive to create a unique opportunity for the patrons. Everything is delicious! Tater Tot Casserole is something everyone should enjoy with that juicy brisket and incredible smoked turkey. If you have the opportunity, GO!!! Just be prepared to enjoy yourself!
Went to truth for the second time to bring family from out of town. Definitely again lived up to the hype. Great atmosphere and great food. Be prepared to wait. The first time we went it took about 2 1/2 hours to get through the line, order, and sit down to eat. We did arrived around 1:30pm. This second time the line moved much faster. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday. It took about an 1 hour and 15 minutes. Parking was a bit tight and did take a bit to find a spot. Make sure to get dessert even if it’s to go. Their banana caramel cake is so good.
Truth BBQ is the Truth! I have high expectations when it comes to good BBQ and they exceeded them! When the line to get inside is out the front door, the wait will be worth it and Truth BBQ is no exception. While the price is knocking on $30/person for a 2 meat plate with 2 sides and bread, they give you a quantity of quality BBQ. I can throw down on some BBQ, but I could not finish the portions they gave me. I ordered a soft drink and they have many options including tea and a few other juices including strawberry/watermelon juice... I got the juice! Very refreshing! I also ordered the wrong slice of cake and took it to my table. I wanted to exchange it for a different slice(I did not open the cake container), but the man in charge explained that they cannot take back food due to health and sanitary reasons.... This is common and I totally understand. I was going to keep it, but a few minutes later the man in charge came to me and said that I would get the slice I wanted in exchange. He took my slice and gave it to a homeless man that was asking for food as well as giving him other foods. I got my slice and the homeless man walked out very happy! What a great restaurant, great management, and superb quality BBQ! If I lived in Houston, I would be a regular. This is highly recommended!
This was my second visit to Truth BBQ, and once again, it did not disappoint. Right off the bat, they make the wait more bearable with a cooler full of water outside—a thoughtful touch for the Houston heat—and a full bar if that’s your thing. I got in line around 10:30 AM on a Sunday and was second. Not sure if that’s typical, but take it for what it’s worth. Just before opening, they hit us with an unexpected audible: fried chicken was on the menu. Naturally, I adjusted my order. Here’s what we got: • 3/4 lb brisket (mixed, with burnt ends) • Fried half chicken • Brisket Philly sandwich • Large mac & cheese • Corn pudding (corn casserole) • Tater tot casserole Brisket: Classic Truth brisket—juicy and flavorful. While I think my first visit had a slight edge, it’s still the best brisket I’ve had in Houston. Doesn’t quite reach Interstellar or Franklin level, but it’s close. And that’s elite company. Fried Chicken: A total surprise hit. For $13, you get a half chicken that’s incredibly juicy with a light pickle brine flavor and a sweet dipping sauce on the side. Easily one of the best fried chickens I’ve had at a BBQ joint. Brisket Philly: I don’t even have the vocabulary to describe how perfect this was. The bread was toasted just right, the brisket-to-cheese ratio was spot-on, and the peppers added the texture and acidity it needed. It’s rich, indulgent, and absolutely a must-order. As much as I love brisket, this is what I’ll be coming back for. Sides: Truth does not miss on sides. Period. • Mac & Cheese: Creamy béchamel, al dente pasta, topped with breadcrumbs for texture. Perfectly seasoned. • Corn Pudding: Sweet, soft, and satisfying. Think corn casserole done exceptionally well. • Tater Tot Casserole: Rich, cheesy, and comforting. Think hashbrown casserole with a bit of magic. Fixings: Elevated and appreciated. House-made pickles, pickled red onions, and a medley of pickled peppers—these small details truly enhance the experience. Served with classic white bread. Drinks: Big fountain drink cups with free refills. Minor gripe: no Coke Zero. I’d deduct a ¼ star for that if I could. Dessert: It was my birthday, so I went for the chocolate cake. Not the best I’ve ever had, but still solid—dense, rich, with great icing. My friends had the banana pudding and said it was the fluffiest they’ve ever had. The texture was perfect, and the flavor matched. Value: All of this food—minus dessert—came out to just over $101. For the quality, variety, and portions, that’s an excellent value, especially when compared to Austin BBQ prices. ⸻ Final Thoughts: Truth BBQ lives up to its name. The brisket is solid, but the real stars this time were the fried chicken, that unreal brisket Philly, and the unbeatable sides. It’s one of the top BBQ experiences in Houston, hands down.
The food is amazing. All of it. The meat, the sauces, sides, everything. The place is cool. They have style, for sure. I have never been to a place where anyone was as friendly, helpful and knowledgeable as EVERYONE at Truth. We were blown away by the hospitality. Thanks for a great experience!
Some of the best bbq I’ve ever had!! We came primarily for the brisket but the RIBS on my goodness, best ribs in the world! Falling off the bone just holding it up! The Mac and cheese was phenomenal, as well as their corn pudding. We went for their dinner at around 5:45, waited just about 30 min in line, not bad. Prices I thought were fair, spent about $60 for 3/4 lbs ribs, 1/2 lbs brisket and 3 sides. All the staff were extremely friendly (especially Jerry and Freddy who gave us park recommendations around town) and also helped us select how much food to get! Only downside is limited bbq sauce options but you don’t even need it. I’d stop comparing and just come here, worth it!
Like others have mentioned, be ready to stand in line. It was worth it for us. They had the window open to the smoker room that the outside line passes through and I couldn't get enough of that delicious smokey meat aroma. They have 5 huge offsets that you can view from the line. Once inside you are greeted with more delicious aromas and a very nice crew. They are not about speed here. But getting you freshly cut meats and helping you decide what to get. I found everyone here to be very nice. The food was what I dreamed of for brisket and ribs. So tender and packed with flavor. Tater tot casserole was nice but a bit salty for me. Corn pudding is excellent with a balanced sweet and salty taste. The banana pudding was the best I've had. I thought the pulled pork was good, but not to the level of the rest. I'd return if I'm back in the area. Delicious!
Arrived about 45mins before they break before dinner. There was still a crowd and the food was delicious. Would recommend the ribs they were so tender as was the brisket. I wasn’t a fan of the sausage it needed to be warmed up. The line moves a bit slowly so don’t be in a hurry when you go. The sides are tasty with a standard portion side. Pickled onions and pickles served with the meal along with a slice of bread. The staff was very friendly and they all greeted with a smile and were very helpful. Sauce variety available at each table.
I'm from Memphis Tn and I know bbq!! Let me tell you, this place definitely steps up and satisfies my yearn for the pit back home!! Make sure you show up early for parking and a short wait in line though! Bring your appetite or prepare to take left overs home! The banana pudding is amazing and they have cake slices as big as your face!!! Bit pricey but worth EVERY penny!!!!
Truth BBQ is a standout establishment that embodies the essence of Texas barbecue. Arriving on a Friday for lunch, I waited in line for nearly an hour—an experience that speaks to the restaurant’s reputation. Fortunately, the wait was more than justified by the exceptional quality of the food. I opted for the three-meat plate, featuring brisket, sausage, and pork ribs, accompanied by mac and cheese and corn pudding. Every element was expertly smoked, showcasing both precision and tradition. The brisket was perfectly tender and juicy, the sausage packed with flavor, and the pork ribs seasoned to perfection, offering incredible depth. The sides were equally satisfying, complementing the meats with rich, comforting flavors. Beyond the food, Truth BBQ offers a welcoming, rustic atmosphere infused with Texas charm. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an experience that captures the heart of authentic Texas barbecue, served with genuine Southern hospitality.
The food is great, to me the best item was the ribs.. the brisket was good but to me but I've had better for sure. The sausage was dry for us, they were out of the jalapeno cheddar so I didn't get to try it. The pulled pork was pretty tasted definitely needed the bbq sauce. Turkey was excellent, cooked perfectly. Loved all our sides, they have some of the best sides of any BBQ place I've been too. Ribs 8 out of a 10, turkey 8 out of a 10, brisket 6.5, sausage 4. Tater tot casserole 6.8, corn casserole 7, Mac and cheese was bussin according to my kids. Wife loved the brussel sprouts. Line moved fairly fast I will be back and highly recommend.
Wow! I can understand why this place is in the top ten for Texas. Brisket was perfect, Jalapeno and cheddar sausage was perfect, and smoked turkey was perfect. Tried the Brussels sprouts and the tater tot casserole and it was all fantastic. I really can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a must stop in Houston.
We did a 90 minute line to have lunch. Fortunately, not many items had run out by the time it was our turn to order. The Brussel sprouts were the most surprisingly great thing I tried there. They pour an au jus to it and it tastes amazing. The brisket and pulled pork were all right, the ribs were very good and the mac and cheese is amazing. I'm glad we tried it; it was great overall.
It is a very wonderful Dining experience. The food is scrumptious. And the quantity size of the serving is very generous. But the star is of the plate is “The Brisket”. I will definitely comeback with my family and friends. Also, I met Jerry, one of the staff, he is very nice and hospitable. TRUTH BBQ is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This the best Texas bbq we’ve tried so far and we’ve sampled a handful of credible establishments. The line gets long quickly so get here early and it’s worth it! Glad to see the pit in action. We ordered brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, two meats plate with brisket and pork rib, Mac n cheese, Brussels sprouts, beans. Brisket was perfectly smoked, tender juicy, with the right amount of fatty, melt in your mouth. Flavor is on point. The pickles and other preserved veggies go well with the meat. I enjoyed every single bite. The bread that comes with the bbq was also so good. The three bbq sauce each has their own characteristics and I liked both the red and white. Highly recommend! Will be back with more family
I have to admit, this is by far the best BBQ I’ve had. As a native Texan, I’ve tried multiple BBQ spots and Truth lives up to its name. From the brisket, to the ribs, to the sides, sauces & flavors, it was all worth it. For a family of 5, we spent $200 and ate a ton with leftovers to take home. Service was A1.
I’m currently on a quest to find the best BBQ in Houston & Truth BBQ hit the mark! Honestly I’m still dreaming about this experience. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was mouthwatering and exactly what I look for in Texas BBQ. In my quest to try everything, I ordered the three meat combo with two sides: I got the brisket, pork ribs, spicy pepper jack sausage, brussel sprouts and mac & cheese. Let me tell you! The ribs fell off the bone and were absolutely delicious; the brisket was the perfect flavoring, while the sausage had the perfect kick to it. While the mac & cheese were mediocre, the Brussels sprouts were out of this world and made up for it. Honestly, I only have raving reviews about this place. I would recommend you get there on the early side of the day though. My table of two got there at 11:02AM, just two minutes past opening, and there was a line outside. While the establishment offers free water and overhead fans for those waiting, the Houston heat can get to you fast, especially waiting long periods of time. Despite our two minute past opening arrival, we waited outside for about 20 minutes, with another 15 minute spent waiting inside (about 35 minute wait time total). Even so, the food made it worth it. Honestly, I would recommend this place for everyone, especially if you want some good Texas BBQ.
After seeing that Truth was consistently top 3 in Texas on the quarterly "Best BBQ in Texas" report, I decided my wife and I should try it. Let me say, Truth ain't a lie! It's damn good BBQ and I'm glad we decided to try it. I got the 3 meat plate because...well I had to. I tried the brisket, pork ribs, and the Cheddar jalapeño sausage. Yum...yum...and more yum! I couldn't pick a fav if you asked me too. My wife had a chopped brisket sandwich, which was huge, and she ate every bite. No leftovers at our table. We tried the potato salad, tater tot casserole, Baked Beans, Mac n Cheese, and Brussel sprouts. Yes, we couldn't decide so we tried them all! Next time I'll try the coleslaw and corn pudding. Oh...we took home a slice of their coconut cream cake. Jeez...everything is delicious and it will be a staple when people come to visit. Service was awesome too! We had a great time joking with one of their guys who stopped by our table multiple times. Big Fans of Truth BBQ!
The MICHELIN Guide had us fired up for Texas smoke, and we were second in line when the doors opened. Truth BBQ brings serious soul to their cooking — the brisket was a cut above, while the smoked ribs and pulled pork held their own with solid flavor. The service was extremely present and pleasant; they even offered us a tour of the smokers, which of course, we couldn’t pass up. The feel of the place is true to Texas BBQ — big, spacious, filled with wood and warmth. I’ll be back.
We originally came in each planning to get our own plates, but then we saw The Whole Shebang. This family-style meal included a 1/2 lb each of brisket, ribs, sausage, turkey, and 4 sides. The total was $95 and was meant for a party of 4 but it was more than enough food for the 6 of us and ended up being ~$16 each. It was nice because we each got to try a little bit of everything. They even threw in some burnt ends for us to try and extra ribs since they were out of pulled pork. The smoke on the meat was good, and really didn't need any BBQ sauce, at all. The meat was moist and tender, and the sides were delicious! I get why this place is a hot spot! The staff was outstanding! Shout-out to Aqua!
It’s been a minute since our last visit and it was nice to see that they have maintained their rock solid top notch Q here. Gotta get here early for lunch or you will be standing n line outside for awhile as the line does not move quickly. I love both the turkey and the sliced beef, the latter perhaps my slight favorite as the bark is just amazing on their brisket..absolutely no sauce needed which is the mark of a quality rub. I enjoy their unique potato salad recipe, and love the house pickled red onions. The brussels are tasty if not a little too sweet for my preference. Don’t be surprised if u just get two or three slices of your chosen meat as they cut them extra thick here, which I like as you get more of the smoked in moisture that way…yum. My only gripe is that they didn’t build in more indoor line space for the order wait… it does get hot out n that line ;-) so that iced tea is a welcome relief. Get some y’all.
When I tell yall, this was sooooo good. The brisket was 10/10. When you’re in line you’ll probably be thinking “this better be worth the wait” don’t even question it just wait, drink that complimentary water, and sit down and enjoy. I got the 3 meat plate (big back) it ran me about $40 including my drink. Only thing I didn’t like is I couldn’t get double brisket but I imagine that is probably because they don’t want to run out quick. Would definitely come back.
Visited Houston during a work trip and I had been recommended this spot a few times by a few friends as well as my Uber driver. This place is located in a very restaurant busy street, so be ready to see a ton of alternative options, none the less stay the course by going to this spot ahaha. The interior is very simple and clean. It very much gives BBQ vibes and Texas, I liked it the aesthetic. The seating was comfortable and picnic style. The service and the attention by the staff was top-tier. The amount of times I was called sir or boss was crazy ahaha. Regardless everyone was kind and amazing, big shout-out to all the staff for that because it made the restaurant feel like home. The food was unreal, delicious, flavorful and packed with some pickled sides. I was genuinely blown away by the side BBQ sauces. Now look, this is probably my 4th BBQ spot ever so take my word for what it is ahaha, I enjoyed it alot and I was FULL. ready for a nap afterwards haha. Yes, I recommend to anyone/everyone
This was our second time going to Truth BBQ in Houston, and it was just as amazing as the first. The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole experience was excellent. A special thank you to Freddy for his exceptional service and hospitality — he was attentive, welcoming, and truly made our visit even better. It’s always nice coming back to a place that delivers both amazing food and outstanding customer service. Highly recommend!
100/10 experience. First time in TX and after looking at different peeps I follow on YT decided to have our first true TX BBQ at Truth and man is it the TRUTH! I can’t ever have BBQ again in KY. It puts ours to shame 😂 heck I'm even contemplating moving to Houston now just for the amazing food and vibes we experienced!
I've been to Truth BBQ several times, and it has yet to let me down. My husband and I stopped in for lunch, and it was great as usual. There's usually a line, and this time was no different. We arrived before opening since we were already in the area, and as others started to line up, we joined them. When the doors opened, we were among the first group welcomed in. The staff here always seems genuinely excited to see everyone and happy to be at work. They're friendly, eager to help, and even passing out samples of burnt ends (yes, please!). We both ordered 2-meat plates. I had brisket and turkey with corn casserole and brussel sprouts while hubby went for brisket and ribs with Brussels and the tater tot casserole. Meals come with bread, house made pickles, pickled onions, and peppers of your choice. The meats are smoked to perfection moist, tender, and flavorful enough that you do the even need teeth to eat them 🤣😂🤣. I love that they offer a wide variety of sides that are actually good and not all carb heavy. Their sauces are just as impressive. A traditional red that pairs well with beef or pork, a tangy mustard vinegar base that's great with pork and turkey, and new to me this visit a unique white sauce that somehow went well with everything. Truth BBQ continues to live up to its name, and I'll keep coming back as long as they keep serving up this kind of quality.
Rated #1 BBQ joint in Houston and I can see why! Make sure you get there early because parking is terrible and the line gets long real quick. They have many items to choose from and great tasting original sides. Price is competitive with the area. I got a 3 meat plate with 2 sides for $35. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and took their time explaining things. There’s plenty of tables and chairs to sit down and the atmosphere is laid back. There’s 3 different sauces on the table but they aren’t labeled. Overall I’ll be back to enjoy delicious BBQ!!
Take my review with a grain of salt as I'm somewhat of an offset smoker hobbyist: Pork (spare) ribs: very tender, heavy on black pepper, savory, not sweet. 9/10 Brisket: the flat and point were both perfectly seasoned, smoky, delicious. Less black pepper than the ribs, interestingly. Flat: just slightly dry but otherwise excellent. 8/10 Point: melt in your mouth. not much more could make it any better. 9.5/10 Tater tot casserole: cheesy, crispy bits, yummy, a little rich, but a great side. 7.5/10 Corn pudding: fantastic. Tastes like a moist cornbread muffin mixed with whipped butter. Whole corn kernels mixed in. Light and airy without being dry. I would inject this into my veins if I could. 10/10 House sausage: I'm not well versed in BBQ/smoked sausage, but it was good! Not amazing. 7/10
This place was really good. I got the brisket banhmi sandwich and it was so good. I just wanted to try it and I'm glad I did. Line was pretty long and very slow moving but I think that's because their food comes out looking like it belong in a commercial. They take their time to make it perfect.
Visiting from NYC with friends & was one of the best BBQ I ever had. Although there was a long wait and I usually never wait for food, I can confidently say it is actually worth the wait. All the meat was so tender. I was pleasantly surprised by the Turkey meat - I recommend giving it a try. I loved all the sides especially the corn pudding and brussels sprouts. The hospitality was amazing - Shoutout to Jerry who made us feel welcomed.
Great BBQ. Had the two meat plate with brisket and pulled pork (wet). Brisket was cooked well with a good bark, good smoke ring, great bend tenderness, and great pull apart. The pulled pork I got wet but didn’t seem to need it because the taste was great with nice tenderness and very flavorful. Overall was a great pick.
My husband & I are visiting from Chicago & Emma from the airport recommended Truth. We are so glad she did. The best bbq! We had the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs & pulled pork. Our sides were mac & cheese & hash casserole and added a side of Brussel sprouts Amazing food. Amazing staff!
Truth BBQ is the best spot in Houston. I’ve been here twice and it never disappoints. I came once during the week and once on Saturday morning. Both times I arrived at around 10:40am, and the line was about half way through the stalls outside. The line quickly doubled between 10:40 and 11am! I reccomend getting there as early as you can. Even getting there at 10:40 I had to wait about 40 minutes to sit down with our food. During the first visit I noticed the Chief Sheriff of the Houston Homicide Department standing in line a ways in front of me. I instantly knew this was the place. Watching the chefs prepare the brisket for the next day as you meander around the line patiently. The way the chefs prepare the trays with the 18 hour brisket and special ribs made you feel like you were watching an award winning performance. Simplicity wins and everything at Truth BBQ is exceptional. I had the honor of trying the smoked brisket (juicy, fatty), jalapeño cheddar link, baked beans, Mac and cheese and of course the Saturday exclusive: BBQ Beef Ribs!!! The beef ribs are only available on Saturday and completely blew me away. I have been wanting to try bbq beef rib for a solid 10 years and it did not disappoint. The pickles were outstanding, and the beans and Mac and cheese are simply unforgettable. I also tried a local beer called Bombshell Blonde and that one is very good too. This underdog of a place has earned my respect and I will pay my dues every time I come to Houston. Thank you Truth BBQ for an undeniable authentic Texas BBQ experience.
Great brisket but I missed trying out more of their meats. Loves the pickles, sides and desserts. I you are a sauce lover you will be happy with the special bbq, mustard and white sauce. Be sure to come on the early side to get more meat options (turkey, and pork ribs).
I absolutely loved Truth. The sides are too die for. From the tatertot casserole, brussel sprouts, to corn pudding, all incredible. Jerry, Mario, Daedrean, and Caleb were also incredibly kind. Daedreans's recommendations of the turkey and the tatertot casserole were awesome. Great barbeque
The brisket was smoked well and had flavor without any sauce. The cheddar sausage is okay. Maybe the jalapeño one is better. The Mac and cheese is very good. Well executed and the portions are good even for a single serving size. The corn pudding is good too. Not too sweet and the corn offers a textural difference. Wasn’t dry either. The Tres Leche cake is phenomenal but I believe one of the employees said it’s usually only available on the weekends. The line is pretty standard during a lunch rush during the week and on the weekends and can get long (think 1+ hours standing). There’s no fans inside of the restaurant either that I remember so it was hot inside of there. The employees are patient and professional. It’s good as a one and done at least.
Would recommend getting here before 11! We were in line around 10:30 and had about 50 people in front of us, and 100 behind us when it opened, it takes a while because they serve it hot and freshly cut. Best BBQ in Houston clearly! Brisket was juicy and Mac was a great side, sausage was a great balance of spicy and savory, can’t wait to be back! Plenty of tables or you can grab it and go. There’s a free parking lot that is busy.
Got here around 10:30AM on a Saturday and doors opened promptly at 11:00AM. Only thing that annoyed me was there was a couple standing in front of us and then when the doors opened 4 more people joined them. As grown men/women that’s just silly. I understand if there was little kids that can’t stand for long periods of time then it’s okay but grown people camping in the car and making the line longer last minute was annoying. I got brisket, pork ribs, beef dino rib and Jalapeño Cheddar sausage. The sides I got were the Corn pudding and mac and cheese. Everything was phenomenal and tasty. I was a big fan and the service was good. I’ve had good bbq and this was good too. Very pricey so be prepared to spend some money. For the area parking was very good too.
We got here at 11am on a Sunday and there was a line out the door. The wait was about 45 min but it was well worth it. After we got our food it was easy to find a table. The brisket, ribs and sausage were amazing but I think the sides are what really set this place apart from other bbq joints. The potato salad, tater tot casserole, Mac n cheese and brussel sprouts were amazing.
Truth BBQ has the best barbecue in the Houston area. The whole place is an experience from start to finish. Most people show up early and wait about 30 minutes just to place their order, which honestly feels expected here. The venue gives off strong butcher shop vibes, immediately letting you know you’re in the right place for serious BBQ. I usually go with the jalapeño sausage and brisket, and that combo is hard to beat—especially with their yellow BBQ sauce, which brings everything together perfectly. Over the years, I’ve tried several of the sides. Most are really good, just not amazing, if that makes sense—solid complements, but the meat is clearly the star. The only protein I haven’t tried yet is the beef rib, mainly because it’s a Saturday-only item and usually sells out before I make it to the counter. This is a great spot if you’re new to Texas or hosting out-of-town guests who want a true Texas BBQ experience. Truth absolutely lives up to the hype.
Delicious, finger lickin' barbecue! The brisket was juicy and tender as was the turkey. The jalapeño cheddar sausage had the right amount of flavor to keep you wanting more. The sides are all great but the brussel sprouts were definitely my favorite! All the staff were nice, helpful and informative. No wonder there's always a line out the door!
You probably already know this is one of the best bbq joints in the world. Honestly I’m not sure why you’re reading reviews when you should just be on your way to pick up the most tender, flavorful, high-quality meats from Truth. It’s such a fun place: music is awesome, you can sit at a huge table and make some new friends, grab a cocktail. Try as many of the meats and sides as possible because they are all excellent. This will be your “regular” bbq place after one stop.
Absolutely outstanding authentic BBQ! The brisket was incredibly tender, flavorful, and smoked to perfection. The beef ribs were juicy, meaty, and cooked just right — truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a nice, relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay and enjoy. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for top-quality Texas BBQ!
Truth BBQ has to have some of the best ribs I’ve ever had! I enjoyed how tender they were and how easily the meat slid off the bone. The brisket was also juicy and tender! Turkey also paired perfectly well with the 3 meats plate. The sides were also great, I’m not usually a fan of potato salad but this one was super refreshing. The banana caramel slice cake was so delicious i’ll need to comeback for more too. The service was also incredible, we accidentally received sausage on our plate but the staff were kind enough to get us the correct item we had ordered. Not to mention, Dom was insanely kind, he made small talk and assisted us with anything we needed. Dom made our experience feel hospitable! This truly felt like a Texan meal
The truth is truth is a winner. Very delicious finger licking mouth smacking barbecue tons of flavors busting like a firecracker in your mouth. Very good flavor. Good taste brisket was moist. Soft tasty delicious inside and outside. Best of the barbecue atmosphere. Inside is awesome decoration. Excellent service very good Now don’t read just go and eat that lovely delicious barbecue you have to have that taste in your mouth. Enjoy.
The BBQ worth visiting! Service and atmosphere: This is by far my favourite spot for BBQ craves. Clean, well organised, easy to order and fast service. Apparently this is 2nd best BBQ place in TX which explains long line and an hour wait time. Well worth it! Food: You must try it! Succulent melts in your mouth meats full of flavours. Pricing: You won't regret it.
Five stars all the way. The line alone tells you the barbecue is worth it, but what truly sets Truth apart is the hospitality. Every single team member was smiling and attentive. The moment we even glanced up, someone was there making sure we were good. Every protein was perfectly cooked, the sides are one of a kind, and the desserts are absolutely incredible. Worth the wait, worth the hype, and we’ll definitely be back.
This place truly impressed me. The turkey breast was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the brisket completely stole the show with its deep smoky taste and perfectly rendered texture. The staff made the experience even better with their warm and attentive service. Freddy went out of his way to show me the pits, which added a personal touch and made the visit feel unforgettable.
Went to Truth BBQ for the first time and can honestly say it’s the best BBQ I’ve ever had—hands down. I ordered the turkey breast, which was incredibly moist and flavorful, and of course had to try the brisket. The brisket was outstanding—perfectly smoked with the fat rendered just right. For sides, I had fresh bread, the tater tot casserole, and the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were on a whole different level—I’ve never tasted vegetables that good before. To finish, I had the banana pudding, which ranks in my top two of all time—sweet, creamy, and the perfect ending to the meal. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Freddy took me back to see the pits. That guy made the whole experience that much better. I just wish there was BBQ like this back home in Utah. If you’re in Texas and looking for amazing BBQ with top-notch brisket, turkey, and sides, you absolutely need to stop at Truth BBQ.
Truth BBQ was fantastic! The food was great. I got the 2 meat platter with brisket and turkey. The turkey was not dry and the brisket was nice and moist with a flavorful crust. The sides are amazing here. Got the corn pudding and tatertot casserole. Both were delicious! Highly recommend! There may be a line, but it moves quick.
The truth about this place?…… Is that “Truth BBQ” tests your patience before it rewards your soul. 😂 The wait? Real. Almost an hour deep. Pro tip: if you’ve got little ones, bring snacks, toys, or a small Broadway production to keep them entertained. But let me be clear, this isn’t a “why did we do this?” wait. This is a “thank God we stayed” wait. Once inside, it was straight to business. We ordered the pork ribs, brisket, homestyle sausages, and jalapeño sausages, and not a single bite missed. The brisket was juicy and rich, the ribs were porky perfection, and those jalapeño sausages brought just enough kick to remind you you’re alive. Now let’s talk sides, because sides matter. The macaroni was solid, the baked beans were flavorful, but the real MVP? The tater tot casserole. Crispy, comforting, and dangerously good. The kind of side that makes you ignore everyone at the table while you eat it. And just when you think it couldn’t get better, they have a full bar. I paired all that glorious meat with a whiskey, and let me tell you… it hit the spot like it was meant to be there all along. This place is bold, indulgent, and absolutely worth sharing. I’ll definitely be bringing my work crew here next time, because food this good shouldn’t be experienced alone. Too good not to share.
The line was out the door because of how popular it is, but don’t let that fool you into thinking they’re too busy for you, southern hospitality is real here. We were visiting from Canada, and got some to go, we ordered the wrong bread & Ashley gave us the proper one in the house, no questions asked. Made us feel at home. I can definitely see why people keep coming back.

Long wait (45 min on a Friday afternoon) but was well worth the wait. Amazing service and great food. The tater tot casserole was out of this world. It was crunchy and soft at the same time. The brisket was really good, so were the ribs and sausage. The people serving were all so amazing. Despite the long lines, they kept their calm and served each and every customer with care. Portions were generous.
Absolutely worth the wait. Don’t let the line scare you off, once you’re at the counter, you’ll know why it’s there. Hands down the best smoked turkey breast I’ve ever had. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with rich flavor, and the brisket was top notch. I couldn’t stop talking about this place once I got home. Next time I’m in Houston, I’ll be stopping here first and again before I leave.

The barbeque is outstanding! I ordered a Dino rib and a few other items, it took me 2 days to finish it. Get there when they open or slightly before, THERE WILL BE A LINE. Service to get your food is great. Plenty of seating and the wait staff are over the top attentive and friendly. I don't think you could ever have enough parking for this place but there is free parking available.
Saw this place on TV and in the Houston area so I had to try it. Came by yesterday and the line was out the building decided to give it another try today when they opened at 5pm. Showed up around 5:30, small line but now know why the line was as long as it was. This food is delicious and one of the best bbq I've tried. The brisket was tender and just fell apart as you ate it. Turkey had a nice n smoky flavor, same a the brisket juicy and tender. Was recommended by staff to try the Brussels sprouts and tater tots casserole, boot didn't disappoint and definitely recommend to give them both a try. If you want really good BBQ and in the Houston area, definitely stop by, it's worth the wait.
Truth BBQ in Houston delivers an outstanding Texas barbecue experience with perfectly smoked brisket, peppery ribs, and flavorful jalapeño-cheddar sausage. The sides—especially the tater tot casserole, bacon-loaded potato salad, and charred Brussels sprouts—are just as memorable. Portions are generous, presentation is top-tier, and the service is friendly and efficient. With a laid-back atmosphere and a well-earned reputation, Truth BBQ is a must-visit for barbecue lovers seeking bold flavors and quality across the board.
We got a pound of brisket and ribs and a sausage, as well as corn pudding and mac. Overall the quality and taste were good, but the sauce selection could've been expanded a bit (I'm not a BBQ purist so take that with a grain of salt). The ribs were a bit tougher than I'd prefer but the brisket had the perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Ordered a two-meat plate with brisket (flat) and pork rib(s). Brisket was perfectly trimmed and seasoned. Barks and smoke rings were beautiful. Yet, it is slightly on the dry side, not enough moisture. Meat was tender but I had to add some sauce to finish the whole thing. Rib on the other hand was a bit under cooked to my preference. Meat was tender, but fats were not well rendered and cartilage was still quite tough to bite down. Seasoning/flavor was okay. Overall, good BBQ, not worth the long waiting line in my opinion.
The brisket was okay I think I liked the pork ribs a lot better. The potato salad was very good. The Mac and cheese was great as well I could taste the cheddar I think. I did not enjoy the brussels sprouts because they were sweet. Overall I think it was good but not good enough to wait in line for, but you should give it a try so you can decide for yourself
Okay bbq I got off the plane and came straight here around 7pm and there was for sure a line but it moved quickly. The pulled pork was good. The brisket was okay them ribs were special. The brussel sprout side was good. I actually enjoy the tater tot casserole too. But that Mac and cheese needs work! And the baked potato salad was decent. Their sauces have a lot of vinegar the only one I enjoyed bbq sauce.
Keeping in mind that tastes are personal, the brisket was the best that I and my wife have eaten in the Houston/Austin area, even among other of the pricier BBQ eateries. It was perfectly tender, juicy, and flavorful. We got there right at noon on a Friday and had about a 20-minute wait in a line outside the restaurant, then another 5 minutes inside. There's a window where you can see the briskets getting prepped for the smoker. The pork ribs, on the other hand, were a bit dry, and the house-made sausage and jalapeño cheese sausage were less flavorful than what we are used to. The only seating available was at a shared table, which we don't care for, because shared tables share paper towels and the three jarred sauces, and I've seen people lick their fingers then grab napkins or sauces, and that disgusts us..
It’s good but prepare for the wait. Ample parking spots but be prepared to wait 20 mins for someone to pull-out. If you have others with you, have them jump out and secure a spot in line. Had 4 lbs of pork ribs, half a pound of brisket, one pint each do Brussels sprouts, corn pudding, potato salad, and gator tot casserole. Sides were good. Line was unbelievably long but no wait for tables. Came at noon on a Saturday and waited 45 mins. $205.00 for the three of us and had a plethora of leftovers. The BBQ was flavorful. Slightly salty but not too much. The brisket was moist and flavorful. What’s missing? That bark. That burnt taste you get from the char of the wood. I taste this with cue from Pinkerton’s and Tejas. Sides were outstanding. Wish they had jalapeño cheese bread. Top three BBQ in the Houston area. 1) Pinkerton’s 2) Truth 3) Tejas (Spring/Magnolia)
Went at 4 PM Saturday and was busy with almost 50 minutes in the line. I got the 3 meats plate combo w 2 sides. Well, meats were super yummy and taste is superb, mac n cheese and potato salad were great as well, BUT I wished the food was more heated.. unfortunately it was little bit cold. Also, the brisket wasn’t that tender at all. 3 meats price + tax + tip = 45 bucks. RECOMMENDED 👌🏾
Long lines raise expectations so that may have come into play here. It’s hard to park and at noon on a Tuesday, the line was 45 minutes. Once inside the service is great from the friendly folks. They took great care and pride in the slicing and prep of my briscuit and sausage. The tater tot casserole was different and good as was the cole slaw but that’s not why you’re here. I found my moist briscuit to be a little dry and a little tougher than expected. That was also true of the sausage. Usually I’m not interested in the sauces but here, I tried them all. Texas Monthy has them in their top 10 and brisquit can be a tricky thing so I’ll need to come back. Hopefully parking will be easier next time.
Heard lots of great things, came 8 minutes before they take a break before dinner time on a Thursday. We got the family combo with 3 sausages, brisket, ribs and 4 sides for $160. There was one good moist piece of brisket, rest in the bottom were dry and tough. Same goes for the ribs, some were dried out. It may be the time we came but kind of disappointed with the meats. No more Mac and cheese or Brussels sprouts either. I don’t like when places hide less desirable and dry meat under a good piece. Potato salad was solid.
We went for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He absolutely loves BBQ, and after looking at the options, I decided to give this place a try. I didn’t realize it gets that busy, so I definitely recommend arriving about 15 minutes before they open if you want to be among the first to order. It’s first come, first served, and we arrived right around opening time — it was a quick rush! I can honestly say the ribs, brisket, and pork ribs were delicious. We also tried several sides: the tater tot casserole, coleslaw, and potato salad. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned, and very flavorful. We ordered the pint size portions, and it was more than enough for us. It was totally worth it. I grabbed a beer while waiting in line because I thought they didn’t have a bar, but later I noticed they actually do. If you’re planning to have a stronger drink, you can order it after you place your food order — same with dessert. There are BBQ sauces available at the table, and they were really good. Overall, everything was great — you just need a little patience at the beginning to order and know what you want. They have high chairs for kids, and my daughter was able to eat comfortably. The bathrooms were clean and pleasant. We would definitely come back!
I had the brisket, ribs, sausage, beans, and potato salad. The brisket was just ok. I dont think it had enough bark and smoke flavor as I would like. It is good but maybe a 6/10 when comparing it to other bbq places. I had to use bbq sauce to make it better and you shouldn't need to do that. The ribs were great! Great flavor with out any extra sauce. Soft tangy, plenty of meat. One of the best ribs I have tried. Sausage was just as good as the ribs. I love all 3 types that they had! Potato salad seemed homemade, and great flavor Beans were good but not as sweet as I would like but still very good Overall ,I would come back for the ribs and sausage but I won't get the brisket again. I do expect these places to have the brisket as the number 1 food item but sometimes they are just better with pork.
Truth BBQ delivered on flavor, especially with the brisket it was rich, smoky, and full of character. However, I found it to be a bit on the dry side. One downside was that the chopped brisket was only available when we ordered, which was disappointing after waiting nearly 45 minutes. On a brighter note, the Brussels sprouts were a standout, perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The staff were friendly and helpful, which added to the overall experience.

overrated.. Brisket had a bunch of fat. Ribs had a peppermint flavor to it. This best thing was the tatortot casserole and Dr. Pepper.

This spot is great for any occasion. There were 5-family members came out on Sunday morning. First time for my husband. Bit disappointed in the ribs that were on my husband plate. Three meats plate…
Mediocre brisket at best. Some slices were really dry, and they ran out of other kinds of meat when we got there . I think it is overhyped and overpriced by the service/ambiance it presents. I’ve had better brisket in LA. Hoping to find other places in Houston for amazing brisket. Good Mac and cheese btw.
First time stopping in- good BBQ but I think it would've been even better if I was there earlier in the day. At around 5pm, I got a three meat platter. The brisket had a great bark, beautiful smoke ring, and well-rendered fat, but the lean parts were just a bit dry. The pork ribs were the far-and-away hit, super tender with a flavorful rub while maintaining a satisfying bite. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was the downer, decent snap but they were also a little dry and lacking the flavor I expected. The sides, however, were incredible. The corn pudding was the standout, and the beans were not far behind. All in all, you can get away with some good barbecue for $10-20 per person, which is a great deal IMO (the sandwiches seemed like a particularly good value). Just try and get there early when the product is fresh off the smoker.
Came on Saturday around 11:40pm and waited about 1.5 hours. The brisket was good, though a bit underwhelming—our cuts seemed to be from the ends, so they weren’t as tender as expected. The ribs had a strong smoky flavor, and the pulled pork was very solid. Surprisingly, the sides were the real stars of the meal. The casserole, Brussels sprouts, and corn pudding were all outstanding—honestly, I’d come back just for those.
I wanted to like this place since we didn't have to stand in line very long. We each got the two meat plate and the price for portion ratio was not what I expected. $75 for that and two drinks seemed a bit high. The meat and most sides were really cold and the Brussels didn't have any flavor. I think it's because they scoop the sides from a container and just pull the meat from a rack to serve. I did enjoy the bottled sauces, they helped a lot. Went on a Saturday early evening and the crowd was not bad. I wouldn't ever wait more than 15 minutes in a line for this and probably won't be back.

I had high expectations for this place. I came with three friends and we ordered about $200 worth of BBQ. Starting with the brisket: we ordered the fatty brisket, but it was dry. It also was not sliced correctly as they did not separate the point from the flat, which caused 1/2 of the slice to be cut with the grain and ended up tough. We also tried the plain sausage, which was dry. The ribs had good flavor, but were a bit dry as well. The turkey wasn’t dry, but it lacked flavor. Honestly, my favorite part of the meal was the sides. The mac and cheese was solid, and the tater tot casserole was really good. Overall, it was disappointing.
This place is not the Truth! We waited in line for forty-five minutes. Everyone said it would be worth the wait. They lied! Absolutely isn’t worth waiting for. The brisket was tender and the pulled pork was ok. The sauce umph. We didn’t get any ribs because they were out. Multiple staff members came outside but not once did they mention they were out of ribs!!!! I felt bamboozled. The potato salad, Mac and beans are a no. The corn casserole and cheesecake was decent. The staff at the counter was kind and friendly.
I drove from Galveston with my brothers-n-law amount an hour away to try the bbq we had her so much about. When arriving and seeing how long the line was, I placed an order to go, so i could eat it in my vehicle. When I went inside to get my food nobody working there acknowledge me. After standing around for a bit a young lady asked me if i need help, After telling her I was picking up and order she went to look for it telling me I should be coming out soon. When I did get my food I went back to the parking lot to where I had parked to try the food. My brother-n-law got the jefe sandwich, unfortunately his was cold like it had been sitting around and the same thing with my 3 meat plate. The beans where too sweet and the macaroni was cold as well, the cake was a bit dry as well. I will definitely not being driving out of my way again to try their food.
Very mediocre Texas BBQ in my opinion. Not sure what the hype is on this place. Lots of what our group ordered was dry, not very flavorful, and I needed a lot of bbq sauce on the: beef rib, brisket, and both pepper jack and jalapeno cheddar sausage links. Mac and cheese was not tasty at all, probably the worst mac and cheese I've ever had. Even boxed mac and cheese is better. Brussel sprouts were also meh and not crunchy. Only good things there that surprised me: tatertot casserole and the tres leches cake. Service was good once you got to sit a table. But when ordering in line, the meat/side order servers were visibly distressed. Also, I really really dislike waiting in line for food or just things in general but I'd wait in line if it's worth it. This definitely wasn't worth it especially waiting for over an hour.

i have been trying to visit this place and finally made it food was bland not enough seasoning, service was slow my food should be ready at 5:15 it wasnt long line out the door but their was a wait at least 15mins after my original time. Truth Barbecue: Houston's Smokin' Truth Serum
Alright, Houston, let's talk barbecue. And when I say barbecue, I'm talking about the kind that makes you close your eyes and just savor every bite. That's exactly what you'll find at Truth Barbecue, a spot that's built a serious reputation for a reason. If you haven't been, consider this your nudge. My first recommendation, and something that consistently gets folks talking, are those burnt ends. They often give them away as a little taster, and let me tell you, it’s a genius move. One bite,...
