Wow. This restaurant is somehow nostalgic and inventive, approachable and fine-dining, and cozy and totally unique. I loved the ambience. Comfortable with couches for chairs. Delicious. Although there is a lot of amazing-looking meat on the menu, I am a vegetarian and I feasted on the truffle twinkies (a MUST), the perfect texture corn gnocchi, two beautiful salads, perfect roasted beets, yummy empanadas, 5-star tres leche and the very much elevated and improved take on flan. I enjoyed both the tequila cocktail and delicious mezcalrita. I jammed to the eclectic playlist and seriously cannot wait to come back with the pianist is playing. Chef David is welcoming and warm and makes you feel like you are a special guest in in house. I loved every second and cannot wait to come back. Houston has another gem!
This place was perfect. It’s beautiful in there. The service was absolutely the best. Alisa was our server and she was super sweet and attentive. We loved the drink she recommended. Sean was also great and very helpful! All the food was delicious. No one was upset with their food. Thanks again for a great experience.
Really cozy yet bustling place for a date night. The entrance is a bit confusing since the back entrance isn’t fenced off so many ppl enter there by mistake. We got there early and sat at the bar for a bit. Definitely make reservations early because this place gets booked quick. For drinks, my date at the Coconut Amaretto Sour. It’s was dangerously delicious, a bit on the sweeter side. For starters we had the Chicken chicharron and potato spud. The potato is a must try. The chicken was juicy w amazing dipping sauces. For mains we had the Snapper and Duck. The snapper was very good. The rice was delicious and the snapper cooked perfectly. The duck came w a delicious mole sauce and potato wedges. The duck is cooked w a thick layer of fat that can be removed if you want. It’s very good and worth a try if you like duck. For desert we shared a tres leches, it’s big enough to share. And so delicious we forgot to take a pic, both fighting over who would get the last piece. One of the best I’ve had in a long time.
Highly recommend. I like how the menu offers a range of options at various pricing points. The serving size of the tres leches cake was generous and ideal for sharing. I also appreciate how courteous the bar manager was to inquire about our beverages. I should also mention the busser Maria was so wonderful and respectful.
A very good restaurant from David Cordúa. The four of us sampled just about everything, had cocktails, and a bottle of Biolento. Expensive but such an enjoyable evening. There were a pianist and a saxaphonist the night we went. We did notice a music charge on the bill which amused us. So definitely go online and view the menu and check pricing to see if this is in your budget. Photos follow.
Opened a month ago, a hip and delicious restaurant-bar by chef David Cordua featuring Latin-Mediterranean fare. Friendly services, live music, good vibes. Almost everything we tried were delicious - popcorn chicken chicharrones, duck, smoked lamb chops. A big shout-out to Denise, our 5-star server who came looking for me with my abandoned credit card (thank you!!!!). Tips: complimentary valet parking. For dinner, restaurant is accessed via Lymbar’s side door (the doors entering the Ion building itself are locked).
The ambiance is sophisticated and cozy. The chicharrones are a great appetizer to start. Definitely try the tamarind sauce with it. The mezcal cocktails are great, the Mezcalarita was spicy and citrusy and the Oaxacan Southside was smoky and refreshing (shown on the pictures). The Gemelli pasta with chicken and grilled shrimp was delicious! The creamy sauce with the mushrooms give it that comfort food feeling. We also ordered the Arroz paella that was great but not as good as the pasta. We definitely are coming back to try the other options. Happy eating!
I had the most basic plate on the menu because I couldn't decide on what I wanted lol my waitress was very reassuring, but I hate sending food back, so I stuck to the chicken bc I was so undecided. The Chicken Chicharrones was tasty. The drinks were great! You can definitely taste and feel the alcohol -- I got my monies worth. Will be back to try the Ceviche & a main dish.
The Lymbar is stunning. Lighting is not bright, but not too dim. It’s perfect. The seating is different in the first floor dining area as there are velvet sofas which was pretty cool. Specialty cocktails (Bananera & Campfire Colada) and food (chicken Chicharrones & beef/chicken shawarma mix tacos) were phenomenal. I fell in love with the Bananera! I thought it would be packed on a Saturday evening and was worried there would be no seating, so I made a reservation the morning of, but found it wasn’t necessary. I guess it helps to have one though? Parking next to the restaurant could be validated according to the waitress, but we parked across the street for free either way. Great service, atmosphere, and food overall.
Damn, that was a good dinner. Just everything from the vibe, service, and food was spot on. The dim lighting mixed with nice decor and music makes for both great date nights and group dinners. The service was fantastic, especially from the bar manager Shawn and our waitress Becky - both of whom made great suggestions and checked in throughout. Everything we ate was delicious, with the two best dishes being the Fresh Corn Gnocchi and Churrasco Bites. Would highly recommend both dishes as must order items. The spinach empanada was also pretty good, just not in the same league as the other two small plates. The Pan Seared Snapper was amazing, with a hefty portion of food as well - pretty good to share for two people if you're eating multiple starters. The only "gripe" we had about the snapper was that we could've used more of the chorizo emulsion - just too good not to get more of it. The Tres Leches cake was a perfect way to cap the night and was also a pretty large slice at that. Definitely can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to go back.
Lymbar was a great place. The ambiance was classy and chill. The service was attentive and welcoming. The food was flavorful and different. Overall, it’s well worth to add this to your list of go to’s. I won’t fail to mention that the dessert was amazing. We had the Tres Leches which was so tasty and fresh, and it’s guaranteed to finish your experience with a smile. It was so good we didn’t even pause to take a picture of it, but maybe next time if we don’t devour it as the waiter sets it down again.
thank you Houston Restaurant Weeks for letting me discover this gem of a restaurant! I had just moved back to Houston and was looking for a special night out with a friend. We tried the 3 course dinner part of Houston Restaurant Weeks and so glad we picked The Lymbar! The staff was VERY FRIENDLY and helpful in choosing drinks and making recommendations. The interior felt very homey and sexy, great for a date night! The seating was very comfortable as we chose to sit in the dining room. I was looking for more of a loud music vibe, but could not hear any music which is fine. The food came out very quickly and was very presentable & FRESH. I typically don't eat meat BUT the meat was very tender & full of FLAVOR. I'm latin so I love spices & flavors and was so happy with our food! The ceviche with sweet potato puree was just *CHEFS KISS* The drinks were SO PHENOMENAL. Our waiter gave us so many recommendations and I highly suggest you try their cocktails. Some of the BEST that i've tried! We also noticed the chef walking around and talking to folks which is really appreciated, you can tell he takes pride & joy in his restaurant!
We met for dinner at The Lymbar and it was fantastic! I started with an old fashioned, they have several smoked flavors to choose from and I asked our waitress surprise me. I could smell cinnamon at my table as I waited for my drink and I was hoping it was for me ✨ and it was. Yay! We decided to split a few apps and took our servers lead and had the hummus and their empanadas. Delish! The hummus was amazing it had a mix of avocados, mushrooms, potatoes couscous and tabbouleh. Divine! This dish spoke to me because potatoes 💖 avocados 💖 and mushrooms 💖💖 I mean some of my absolute fave things. It was served with a side of plantains, mmmmmmm Loved the cozy atmosphere, everything was super cute! If you come for date night walk around and explore the other spots in The Ion. We went to Late August for MORE cocktails because your girls just love trying new things, and we will certainly be returning there to try dinner. Our bartender was super sweet and we loved the vibe.
The wife and I had our 16-year anniversary dinner here. The staff was extremely welcoming and even reached out before my reservation to let me know they had a private dining area for us when we arrived. Inviting and friendly ambiance. The drinks and the food were absolutely amazing. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and down to earth. To top things off, we actually got a visit from the man himself, David Cordua. Thanks for an amazing dinner we won't forget!
We had the most incredible experience at The Lymbar last night! From the moment you walk in the door, your senses are wowed by the spectacular decor, friendly waitstaff and the magnificent food & drinks! David Cordua is one of the best chefs in Houston and his new place hits it out of the park! Every single bite of deliciousness that passed my lips was top notch! All of the appetizers, salads, emapanadas, entrees and desserts made a huge impression on my foodie heart! If you love good food - do yourself a favor and check out The Lymbar!
We were here for late dinner during resturant week. The space was perfect for our small party. We were quickly seated. The food was fresh and flavorful! For the price we paid for dinner, the quality and quantity was spectacular! The seafood was fresh and made to order. The highlight was the paella and the tres leches!
Simply delicious! Every dish that we ordered activated our taste buds the seafood paella and the chicken dish was my favorite. The appetizers were also delicious and the old fashioned was made perfection. I will definitely become a frequent visitor of this establishment. The customer service was also amazing.
I enjoyed the place, I just felt rushed they cleared plates a little too quickly. Don't get me wrong this is also a plus and helpful in some people's eyes. I just noticed our dessert was ready and they were going to bring it 3 times to the table and noticed we which table it belongs to so they took it back cause we were still eating entree. On the appetizers, I placed it in the middle of table so my boyfriend can try and it be within his reach. We were deep in conversation and they took the tray of hummus and we weren't finished with it. (Without asking to clear the plate). Our entree had the bread so it would have been a nice compliment to the meal. I was upset about that. Just seemed they were rushing the dinner service. It had been a while I had been on. A date so we weren't in a rush. Other than that it was a nice meal. I will go back and recommend.
Easily one of the best HRW meals I’ve had. If not the best. Everything we tried (3 of us, 3 plates of each, each) was delicious. The salmon beet appetizer and the steak with broccolini were my favorites. The tres leches was incredible, but so was the toffee pudding and chocolate torte. I also liked the cocktail specials as an add on to your meal. I’d give this place a try, HRW or not.
Eclectic, cozy, exciting bites - this is a place to take your business contact for serious conversations, or family member members to celebrate something special. The restaurant has a cozy seating section, as well as a party section by the bar. The food we had at our party was varied and flavorful. Freshly made and fun combos (chicken thighs and garlic spread - simply delicious). Cocktails were fanciful, fresh, and creative. The cocktails top notch. Decor is quirky, colorful, and conversation inducing. I mean – they have a tree in the middle of the room… Service was impeccable, with a smile, and very professional . Will definitely be back!
Overall good experience. Came in for late lunch…. And come to find out they had happy hour including bar snacks. So lunch was smash burger sliders and chicken lollipops …… sliders were good , not amazing but still good , especially for the price. The chicken lollipops I liked more but I like the spice. Had a Mezclarita which was a bit to tart for my taste but finished it anyway :)
I've been here thrice and enjoyed myself each time. The servers are impeccable and easy to chat with a trust their suggestions. Micheal and Kya (sp?) helped us this last visit and they were phenomenal. The food is always a treat! I only remember to take pictures of the desserts, but there was no shortage of goodies! The bread pudding and sticky toffee pudding are pictured here. I enjoyed the salmon fish, but not the arugula (it is a bit strong for me). The Golden dogs were one of the best appetizer options! They're so precious and cute as well. I'd prefer a mustard topping (but that's coming from a non-mayo eater). We also had the chicken chicarrones! Those dipping sauces...🤤🤤 there are just no words to describe their tasty quality! But as my bestie said, it's like a chick fil a sauce but all grown up! The atmosphere is always on point here. Whether it's a girl's outing; love ranger night; or a romantic date, Lymbar has your vibe.
The most amazing restaurant in Houston. Created by the famous, David Corduia, this slice of Heaven is sensational. An outstanding atmosphere where you will want to bring your friends, family and/or CoWorkers. The Bar serves handcrafted cocktails and the food is sensational. Something for everyone Vegan, Keto or event Mediteranian diets... they cook to fresh made to order!!!!
This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences that I have had in a while! Parking is easy, the atmosphere is inviting cozy and warm. Great music at the level that makes it easy to talk. Comfortable seating, and all sorts of personalized and engaging decorations that invite you in to study every detail. The menu is fun, creative, and spunky. It is Latin fusion, with pops of globally inspired flare! The creativity of the chef and bar masters really shine through in unique combinations and textures that you wouldn’t expect— a banana rum cocktail, lobster twinkees, Latin-Arabian street tacos, a flan - crackerjack combo! It really was an incredibly enjoyable dining experience! Every plate was playful, delicious, and interesting. I truly cannot wait to go back!
Wonderful place with very tasty food and amazing vibes. Came here with a group of friends, and had a wonderful time. I had the Lobster chilaquiles, my fiancée had the Gemelli pasta, my friends ordered the Arroz Paella and the black bean gumbo. They were all very good and I highly recommended. We also ordered churrasco bites, hummus, potato bites, and Brussels sprouts, which were all very good. I highly recommend this place!
I had an absolutely fantastic birthday dinner here! From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and making sure that every detail was taken care of. The food and drinks were not only delicious but also wonderfully different, which was exactly what I was looking for to make my birthday feel extra special. Every dish was crafted with care, showcasing unique flavors that kept me excited throughout the meal. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant added a warm and inviting touch to the evening, making it feel both celebratory and comfortable. The ambiance, with its soft lighting and charming decor, perfectly complemented the overall dining experience. All the staff were super friendly and went out of their way to ensure that the night was memorable. I truly appreciate the attention to detail, from the creative menu options to the impeccable service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, eager to try even more items from their diverse drink and food menu. This place has set a high standard for my future birthday celebrations and special occasions! .
Enjoyed a fabulous curated menu at Lymbar. They had a dinner with Alley Theatre tickets included and the dining menu was built to embrace the era of the play for a full immersion experience for the evening. Fabulous drinks, starters, dinner and dessert. The food was so exciting, flavorful, and unique. An explosion of tasty delights. Exciting to see this area of Houston featuring up and coming social opportunities and 5-Star food! It's really been poured into for upgrades and a re-imagining of the areas design, look, and feel. The Lymbar has a cool vibe and decor featuring a fabulous bar. Just on the edge of downtown, perfect pre-meal to any downtown Theatre destination or event. Parking was available and easy, service was excellent and timely. There was no waiting delay. Go and enjoy. You won't regret it!
I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! I’ve never seen dishes like these before — so unique, creative, and beautifully presented. The names and combinations of ingredients are truly interesting, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The desserts were refined and flavorful, and the hummus was simply excellent. We came during lunchtime and had a fantastic time with my friends — great atmosphere, warm energy, and very friendly people. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. A charming, colorful spot that leaves a wonderful impression!
I cannot recommend Lumbar enough!!! My sister needed a venue for her baby shower and after a family dinner we knew this was the place. It is beautifully decorated, the food is unique and exquisite. The service was impeccable. Sean the bar manager was on site for our event and did not hesitate to accommodate every request. Everything was seamless. If you are looking to do an event in Houston this is the place. They opened the restaurant just for us on a Saturday afternoon and made sure we felt at home.
Crazy to be eating in the old Sears I used to frequent. And the view of the reimagined Fiesta. We were there at happy hour. Service was very attentive and the happy hour selection good. We opted to split the wild mushroom quesadilla which was fabulous. My favorite, but then we shared the sliders. Also quite good. Finally the pizza. Prices for the location were great. The parking was a bit confusing - but it was free for 3 hours
We had an amazing experience at Lymbar tonight. We initially came because of the Eat, Drink HTX menu, but we’ll definitely be returning for the exceptional food and top-notch service. Everything from the drinks to the meal was perfect, and the service was outstanding. Oh and don't let me get started on the dessert- the tres leches was to die for! Highly recommend!
Completely shocked at how amazing the food was. Vibes and atmosphere were also great. Alyssa gave us perfect food recommendations and the service was the same. Can’t recommend coming here enough.
Excellent - a Houston gem! Really loved this ambiance and Mediterranean/Latin fusion menu! The restaurant has a unique, elegant and cozy interior that makes it perfect for a business lunch, romantic dinner or date. The ceviche and cheeseburger were delicious! Can’t wait to go back and try more things!
It was a very enjoyable and romantic evening for us. the service was very professional and fast. The menu was diverse and delicious. We had delicious corn smoked lamb chops and humus.
Most tender shrimp I've ever eaten. Their achiote shrimp gumbo had the most tender shrimp I've ever had, seriously. The salmon was delicate & juicy & I really liked the chopped olives with the salad greens & rice. Our server, Yesenia, was exceptional. I'm looking forward to going back.
They had an event and couldn't seat us at a regular table, so we sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and a great server. I had the Pablano soup and Empanadas trio. Exceptional all the way around.
Lymbar is an incredible spot to spend a lunch or happy hour! The staff is great, attentive, and very knowledgeable! Can’t recommend a better spot in midtown!
Priscilla And Kelsey gave me great service. Great recommendations on the drinks and the bar apps I had. Everything was phenomenal. Disappointed I did not get pictures, as th4 food was demolished. Devil wings are the best chicken wings I've ever had. I will definitely be back to see these ladies. I appreciate the great service. Thank you!!!!
I attended the Turkish Wine tasting night and I had an amazing time with friends. Great food, great vibes! Thank God for the free 3 hour parking! Definitely will be coming back. Rate 10/10!!
This is my dream location for ambience. Like cushy lil seats that are actually comfy? I need to get KICKED out of there at the end of my meal
A gem of a restaurant! We were headed to the Theater district and this was a super convenient location. Loved the food! The Owner and Executive Chef came out to check on people also and all the staff was super attentive and friendly. The restaurant is located in the Ion building and a nearby lot offers up to 3 hours of free parking, another unexpected surprise.
Wonderful, home-like feel. Food is comforting and delicious! Drinks are as tasty as they are pretty! Great diversity on the menu. Highly recommend!
Cozy and inviting atmosphere with very friendly staff. Great selection of food and drinks. Dishes are imaginative, tasty and well plated. Table service was quick and attentive without being overbearing. Substitutes and extras on our orders were met with enthusiasm. Try the tres leches!
I had their lamb, crab cake, chicken bites and sweet potato wontons— amazingly delicious food! And Taylor helped is out and she’s a gem 💛
Excellent Latin Restaurant Week meal! $39 for three full size courses! Wild mushroom quesadilla, seared scallops with poblano polenta, lollipop wings, ribeye/ potato wedges....all delicious 😋😋😋. Service was excellent! Great date night meal!
Coming from the culinary scene from Los Angeles, I feel like I'm right at home here! I'm rarely a "regular"as there are way too many options here in Houston. But this is my go too. The food is fresh (you can taste the quality) and innovative, but not trendy. Just high quality options that keep on pulling your back!
Update of my review from 10/24- Had an amazing experience with Claire the waitress, food was great, especially the ceviche and chicken breast bites, the steak frites was great as well, drinks didn’t take long to come out at all, amazing recommendations. My boyfriend and I had a great date night! Shout out to Shaun we had a much better experience!
Beautiful restaurant- perfect for a celebration! When I went, someone was celebrating an engagement and the staff were taking photos for the guests! I loved everything that I tried, esp the cookies! They do have valet.
Came here for happy hour with a friend after attending an event at The Ion. We both had the sangria which was refreshing and perfect for a summer afternoon. The oysters were out of this world with some sort of crunchy topping. So good. My short rib taco was also quite my nice. I would definitely come back.
Beautiful restaurant with dedicated staff. I’ve been here for various meals and have never been disappointed. My favorite thing to order is the hummus - you get a great and healthy plate of food for $10! I like mixing all of the ingredients together :-) easily my favorite cheap snack to have at work
We ate here during Houston Restaurant Weeks and we absolutely loved it so much we had to come back for my daughter’s birthday dinner and once again we were blown away by the food, the service, the music and overall atmosphere…highly recommend it!!! Lamb chops are my favorite so far but everything we tried (including an appetizer with Octopus) is so well prepared that we want more…looking forward to our next visit!!!
El ambiente es muy bonito y la comida súper rica
Came here for a speciality dinner but they are very involved with providing food for the Ion Block Party and special events. The service was outside and chef came out and explain the different dishes that were offer. The smoked duck is delicious and during Thanksgiving they had a Turkey empanada that is amazing! Definitely recommend coming by.
What a lovely spot! A friend and I went for dinner and I was surprised to be one of three parties in the place. The LYMBAR can be a bit intimidating from the menu perspective as they have everything from Spanish -Mexican influence to seafood to Italian dishes. Additionally, the bar menu is very robust and the service is excellent -- for my bourbon and whiskey drinkers, they boast a private barrel of a Elijah Craig and their old fashion is amazing. On this particular evening, we decided to split the rose paella and the steak frites, everything was divine. The scallops were tender, shrimp was succulent, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Also, parking is pretty good here with the first three hours being free at the ion. I highly recommend.
I stopped by The Lymbar for dinner and had a fantastic experience. The customer service was exceptional, with my waitress regularly checking on our table and offering great recommendations. The meals and desert were delicious, with a delightful nod to Spanish cuisine. A special shout-out to Priscilla, who was an outstanding host with a warm and vibrant personality. I’ll definitely be back for happy hour soon!
The cuscus on the lamb dish I had was missing some flavor pretty bland, on the other hand the lamb itself was very flavorful . The Cesar salad and the date cake where very delicious. Only complaint was that it looked that they were short on some people and it took them a while to get to me and get my order started.
Very cozy place! Parking wasn’t an issue since they have valet parking on the Yellow Lot and it’s complimentary. They had a lady playing the piano which was nice. Denise took care of us for the night, attentive and nice. She recommended the Pisco Punch for me and it was good! Also ordered the smoking Old Fashion. We ordered The Rosespud, nice presentation but a little too salty. For my entree, Beef Tenderloin Tacos Arabes, the meat was tender and delicious. Denise recommend the Tres Leches for dessert, she said it was one of their most popular ones, just a little too sweet for me, the italian meringue was just as thick as the cake but I like that it has sprinkles of sesame seeds. Will definitely recommend to others to try the restaurant.
i found about this place in the weekly houston newsletter you get in your mailbox. i am not used to latin american food, but the reviews and delicious menu made me want to give it a try. and this was the only restaurant that was opened at 10pm on a saturday night - they close at midnight and their kitchen closes at 10:30pm btw. Anyways good thing we made a reservation. Complimentary valet for the restaurant. It's located inside Ion but you can access the restaurant from the outside as well (leads to the bar area). We were seated promptly, a table between the bar and the "main" - usually i wouldn't like to sit in a spot like that but the layout/cozy vibe made it okay. loved the burnt orange velvet chairs 🧡 We got the pan seared snapper, the chicken ballotine and the spinach feta empanada. As for drinks, a bottle of prosecco rose. Literally all plates were delicious. The snapper and rice paired so well together with the sauce, the chicken and the sweet potato puree combo was amazing, and the empanada was a must! at the end we got mini macaron dessert which was so delicious. It can be a bit loud but not to the point where you have to yell at each other - i like the cozy vibe overall. and the service was outstanding, our server, didn't catch his name but, was friendly welcoming and professional. Def will come back!!! Want to try new plates and their desserts for sure
Great food , and ambiance. Biggest downside is the tiny seating area and crowded seating with low cushions that make it uncomfortable to eat because your table is higher than average. Not somewhere you want to come when it's busy.
Atmosphere: 4/5 (there’s apparently two front doors. One in front and another in the back. Very confusing Food taste and quality: 3.5/5 Service: 2/5 The aesthetics were nice, but the food was underwhelming. Our food came out wrong and the server didn’t make an attempt to fix it. The truffle “twinkies” were good, and innovative, but doesn’t seem to fit “bar foods”
They changed from peanut oil to canola oil recently! Thankfully! Several dishes still have nuts, though. Any kale is around a lot of nuts so I was recommended not to have it. We made a reservation for three for Houston Restaurant Week and were easily seated. The seats vary in comfort - one of us sat on a couch and it wasn't that comfortable. The overall mood of the restaurant is a date night vibe for sure. Warm lighting, intimate environment. Order-to-Drinks: 15 Minutes Order-to-Appetizers: 16 Minutes Order-to-Entree: 42 Minutes Order-to-Dessert: 58 Minutes Empanadas: The Monte Cristo (4/5) was a great surprise. Tart, a touch of sweet, with the meatiness after. The Spinach Feta (3.5/5) was okay, but the cilantro dip was surprisingly good with the hummus. Fried Chicken Chicharrones (3/5): A little overrated. Basically popcorn chicken, but worse. The golden barbecue sauce definitely carried it. Very sharable though. Hummus (5/5): We ordered this off the Houston Restaurant Week menu from the good reviews, and would wholeheartedly recommend. Portions excellent, delicious, packed with toppings. One criticism is that it would've been more excellent with a touch of citrus, like lemon. Tempura Fish Tacos (3.5/5): Carried by the hoisin sauce. Also could've used a touch of citrus, like lime. Plantain chicken with sweet potato puree (3/5): A little too rich (heavy cream?) on the puree. Chicken portion is small. Arroz Paella (3.5/5): We felt it could've used more seasoning. It was pretty good, but could've used more protein. Desserts - It's insane that they have four options for HRW and they ran out of two. We only had the options of Tres Leches (3.5/5) and Alfajores (3/5). The Tres Leches had a very nice Italian meringue but we found it a bit dry. The Alfajores are like tiny shortbread macaroons. Overall, it was a nice meal with inKind credits but I don't think I'd return at menu price. I'm shocked they ran out of desserts so early in the night.
I ordered a tasty soup, uncertain of that name but it had a creamy rich base. Sooooooooo good!!! I was disappointed in the mushroom quesadilla because it came out as a mini taco. I was expecting an appetizer sized quesadilla. I wasn't too fond of the taste. The waitress was very helpful and friendly.
I went with a large group so we expected to wait for food and drinks however it was almost an hour before any of us got a drink and main courses didn't arrive until about 10 (we arrived at 7:30 pm). Three ppl in our group chose to take their entree to go because it was already so late. I barely touched my dessert for the same reason. By the time it came I was just ready to pay and go home. The salmon tiradito app was delicious! I could eat it all day. The paella, though, was soooo salty if I wasn't so hungry when I got it, I would've sent it back. Maybe they were super busy? I'm not sure, but I expected more. No pics bc I was just ready to eat everytime I received a plate.
We made a reservation for 9: when we arrived the hostess told us they couldn't accommodate all of us at one table. There were a series of high tops that we asked them, repeatedly, to put together. After a 10-15 minute wait, they put the tables together but, made it clear we were making it hard for them to serve us. We all ordered cocktails and not only waited awhile for them to be served but, they didn't all come out together. Those who didn't get their drinks initially waited another 10 minutes. The food was absolutely delicious and the desserts were some of the best we've had but, the staff made the visit awful and hardly worth returning.
We went there to celebrate my birthday. When I made the reservation, I said that we were celebrating my birthday. The hors d'oeuvers - Tostada de Pulpo, devil wings, & Achiote shrimp gumbo were delicious. The main course - I had The Smoked Lamb Chops which came with Cilantro rice. The rice was good, Chops were tiny & a little chewy. My other 2 guests had Arroz Pallela which she didn't like because the mussels were over cooked and the other had Filete en Mole Verde. The best thing on that plate was the broccolini. For the amount of money spent, it was not worth it. Don't think we'll go back.
Does this look like the sticky toffee pudding you see in the restaurant pictures ? A lot of flavor lacking in all the other dishes . Not enough vegetarian options . Not worth the calories ! Also was charged for the table next to me, I had the waitress correct it , but I was still charged for the other table . Had to dispute with credit card company
I ordered the Monte Cristo empanada with a black bean seafood gumbo to serve as my meal. First, I was expecting a meaty, cheesy, and filling empanada as the sandwich is all of these things (or it should be). The empanada was none of these three things, however. It was lighy and airy, and I detected no cheese inside. The flavor of the "gumbo" was good, but the course was light on the crab. The rice they used (some sort of long grain rice with noodles in it) simply didn't work to sell the dish as gumbo. To also have no trinity (celery, onion, or bell pepper in the soup) made the soup more familiar to me as black bean soup with seafood in it. If the soup was more rustic, hearty, and simple white rice was served alongside this dish, I could see it as a gumbo. Lastly, I also ordered the Tres leches to conclude the meal and found it was not as creamy as I would have liked. I noticed many who commented that it was too sweet for their taste, but I found nothing wrong with the sweetness, but for the lack of depth of flavor, I can see where people find the flaw. Overall, I was rather disappointed with the meal. Point 5 out of 5 for the empanada. 2 out of 5 for the gumbo. 3 out of 5 for the Tres leches.
I ordered beer. It’s flat. I had to order another beer and it took 20 min plus the first 20 min waited for the flat beer. That’s 40 min to get a beer. I ordered appetizers and main entrees. I felt like I am heating up my frozen food from Costco or Sam’s. The sofas you sit at the table, if you have back pains be careful. It will go down to floor once you sit in those sofas. I walked out after dinner, there are so many homeless around and a couple approached me. I had to run to my car. There are a lot better places you can go to in Houston. Do your research before you go to such places. You all know, these days the ratings are fake because you have bots or machine login and give 5 star ratings and the customers will only know the truth when they face the reality. I don’t see how this place can get better given the food they serve is frozen and served like a star hotel fresh food. Please don’t get fooled by that.
To start, the atmosphere is nice although the velvet furniture feels very 2017 trendy. The restaurant is in an office building so parking is awkward and you have to enter into a sad corporate foyer before entering the restaurant. The food unfortunately was as bland as it gets. I got a Latin chicken dish which had zero flavor, was dry as a bone, and came out room temp. Was reminiscent of premade dishes they sell at HEB. The cocktail I got was much too sweet, as though I was drinking syrup. The service was no better either. I was one of two tables at 7pm and it took them 15 minutes to let me know the cocktail I ordered was unavailable. The waitress was absent half the time and seemed as though she had no desire to be there. Overall, I’d probably only eat there if I worked in the building which might be their main audience since they close before 9.
I highly disliked my experience here. I liked the empanadas, but we ordered the arroz paella and the rosepuds and both dishes were less than desirable. Cold and unappetizing. Ari’s was our sever and she gave us a very unpleasant experience. The tables were dirty and the restaurant looked and felt unkempt. Never will be back. And I will highly not recommend waste their time, money or tastebuds
Find this place through InKind and high ratings. However the food was very disappointing. Ambience was great. I got sucked into this place based on the reviews. Let me be honest I echo the following review:” Paella - don’t think these guys know what Paella is Lamb chops were dry and tasted like charcoal”
I’m not a fan of this restaurant. I’ve tried it a couple of times, but each visit felt the same — very loud, with tables packed closely together, making it hard to enjoy a personal dining experience. The food is decent, but nothing stood out enough to make me want to return. Honestly, it looks more appealing online than it does in person. The restaurant itself feels small and congested, not the kind of place where I’d go to relax, unwind, and enjoy dinner with friends or my husband. It might work for those who enjoy a lively, crowded atmosphere, but it’s just not the right fit for me.
I hate to say this but I was fooled by all the good reviews! It definitely didn't meet our expectations. We were all disappointed in our experience The ambiance was cute but you have to use the restroom across the lobby which was gross. The food was just okay - no items stood out or even were presented beautifully. The empanadas are deep fried and they only give you ONE ! The octopus was a very skimpy portion and covered in lots of salad leafy garbage. The steak quality was pretty bad . The " lamb chops" barely have any meat . The dessert looked decent but the taste wasn't there . Very disappointed the sister restaurants - churascos and Americas cause sooooo much better . Will definitely not be back !
The food was terrible. The empanada - singular - was only one for 10 bucks. You can buy a box in Costco for the same price and it will be waaaay better. The Plantain Shrimp - What was that? The presentation was horrible, 3 sad shrimp lying down in a bed of cabbage. The sauces were as sad as the overall appearance of the plate. Avoid this place.
Drinks and appetizers were okay but the experience wasn’t. It took over an hour for us to get our food, and they still got the order wrong. Instead of apologizing at first, they kept giving excuses like we have another table your food?!?! Like what! And then we ordered no meat and the food came out with pepperoni in a non pepperoni dish! Def not on my list of places to recommend or try again.
I visited the restaurant during HRW for dinner and while the ceviche tostada was excellent and the arroz paella was good, the original tres leches was overwhelmingly sweet, even for me. The ambiance and cozy vibes suggest it's better suited for a date or a small group. However, our experience as a family with reservations was disappointing. From the moment we entered, no one came to assist us, and we had to actively seek out a staff member to be seated. Despite having a reservation, we felt neglected by the wait staff. We had to ask twice just for water and waited an hour for our first course. Although the chef did come out to explain and serve the course, this did not compensate for the overall lack of hospitality. It was clear that the wait staff paid much more attention to smaller tables, engaging with them and introducing themselves, while our table was essentially forgotten except for when the check was dropped off. The automatic 20% gratuity does not excuse the poor service we received. Would definitely not return to this establishment.
I had high hopes for The Lymbar, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. First off, the service was painfully slow – we waited over 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. When we finally got our drinks, they were watered down and not at all what we expected. The ambiance was fine, but it couldn’t make up for how uncomfortable the seating was. To top it off, there was a lively protest outside, and the staff disturbed us even more, trying to deal with that. I won’t be coming back anytime soon, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Ambience was great. I got sucked into this place based on the reviews. Let me be honest Beer was flat Empanadas were worse than the ones you get in frozen section in a grocery store. Chicken Chicharrones - McD’s nuggets taste much better The Rosespud - this is the only item that was good Paella - don’t think these guys know what Paella is Lamb chops were dry and tasted like charcoal Worse food I had in a long time!
Took my friend here for her birthday, very whimsical ambience. As I enter the restaurant, I didn’t get Greeted or felt welcome to eat, as well a Lingering smell of weird seafood as enter the restaurant. The server didn’t smile or even looked happy to be working . Her demeanor was off. We weren’t even escorted to our tables. They just told us to sit at the center tables. After we sat down, another table came and was greeted before us (we came before them) it made us feel unwelcome even more ! The Cesar salad had way too much cheese and our entrées were salty. We return the salmon and the manager didn’t come and check up on our tables. Overall pretty bad experience never will come again.
The food might have been decent if the service hadn’t completely ruined the experience. Our server was unapproachable, visibly annoyed, and acted like taking care of tables was a personal inconvenience. She never checked on us once and we had to flag her down repeatedly just to get basic service. It honestly makes you wonder why some people choose to work in hospitality when they clearly have no interest in providing it. Both my colleague and I ordered a pasta dish that was supposed to include chicken. It came out with none. When we pointed it out, instead of fixing the dish properly, they sent out a separate bowl of dry, grilled diced chicken like they were doing us a favor instead of correcting their mistake. Completely unacceptable. The only good thing on the table was the poblano soup. That’s it. Everything else was forgettable or frustrating. This is Houston. There are way too many restaurants with great food and actual customer service to waste time or money here. I won’t be back. Do better
