Nestled in the heart of Warwick, NY, our historic venue is infused with an elegant charm that's sure to make you feel at home. We're thrilled to have you join us at this authentic gem!
The Old Stone House Inn & Restaurant is praised for its delicious food, beautiful building, and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is generally friendly and professional, though some reviewers noted slow drink service. Brunch is a popular option.
Tip: The restaurant is located in a beautifully restored building, making it a special experience.
Just went for the first time last night, the food is delicious, the staff is professional, and the atmosphere is perfect. Not only did they accommodate us arriving way too early for our reservations, but they also took great care in making us feel welcome! Our waitress Agi (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was delightful; and the kitchen accommodated my allergy requests. Thanks for having us, and a big thank you to the manager/hostess…I’m sorry I didn’t get your name! photos: dining room fireplace / roasted beet medley / baked cod / short rib
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Old Stone House is an absolute gem! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, with a charming historic feel that makes the experience truly special. Every detail showed care and quality. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience—I’ll definitely be coming back!
Went for lunch and ended up having brunch. The food was good. I had the Eggs Benedict with salmon, and my companions had crepes and avocado toast. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The bathroom was spotless. The building is lovely and restored from a practically deliric building. I would definitely recommend. Be aware It is pricey and they charge for every cup of coffee no refills.
The Old Stone Inn is absolutely charming — full of history and character, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The food was nothing short of amazing — every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our waitress, Aggie, made the entire experience even more special. She was phenomenal — friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a wonderful evening. It’s rare to find service that feels so personal and caring. We can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend this gem for anyone who loves incredible food served with true hospitality in a historic setting!
Came here with my partner on Valentines Day. Took 1 hour to be seated (we got a smoked old fashion & espresso maritini in the meantime and they were DELISH) and food came out in 1.5 hrs, HOWEVER, the wait was SO WORTH IT. Food was excellent ~ we got the bone marrow with baked clams app, pierogis app, Paradelle with Short Rib, and the lamb shank dinner. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, meals were hot coming out. The wait staff and hostess were so kind and apologetic about the wait time. Despite the long wait, I highly encourage anyone who wants a terrific meal to eat here. Also, I would highly encourage the owner to STAFF the restaurant accordingly to the holiday/amount of reservations. Again, waitresses/waiters/hostess were terrific and quality of food will absolutely bring my partner and I back.
This is by far one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Warwick by far. From the service that goes above and beyond to the stunning atmosphere . The food and crafted cocktails are always beautifully prepared and flavor is always better than expected. It’s great date night, branch , or place to go for an elevated experience. There’s nothing on the menu I haven’t been obsessed with. You will not be disappointed.
While visiting a friend in Wantage, we decided to go out for a Sunday evening dinner. She had suggested the Old Stone House and we all were very pleased with the choice. From start to finish was on point. The restaurant was tastefully decorated with modern touches to the very old historic house it dwells with in. Martinis were perfect and the seasonal food was delicious. The waitress was very good but extremely overzealous with her presentation and expression, word of advice, let the food and drink talk. It does speak for it self.
Beautifully renovated historic home turned into a high-end bar, restaurant and event venue. They definitely spent a fortune to turn this place into something special. The grounds are beautiful and the interior decor is tasteful. We stopped in for an aperitif on a cold February Saturday evening. The front desk is efficient and we were guided upstairs to a lounge room with an excellent sound system in the ceiling (great music mix) and comfortable love seats with low cocktail tables. Our waiter was cordial and knowledgeable about the offerings. We had a cheese plate and a charcuterie platter and cocktails. Everything was nicely presented and was delicious. As other reviewers have mentioned, the place is fully priced, especially for the area. Basically it’s Manhattan pricing. But it’s a quality experience, professional service in an elegant environment. They definitely try hard to provide value for the cost. People seem to be responding, it was packed early on a Saturday evening in February. I’ll definitely be back for a dinner to see if a complete meal is as good as I would imagine.
I used to come here for special occasions because it really is that kind of place where you would want to mark a special day or time in your life. This fall I started stopping in for drinks with friends and ordering off their bar menu and it’s become our new favorite. The burger is to die for! Photos attached of some of my favorite drinks. Kudos to a fantastic bartender, Scott. Stop in to say hello!
Wow you dont have to be in the City for super quality any more! This restaurant is a culinary delight! While renowned for its exquisite steaks, the diverse menu offers a symphony of flavors beyond beef. From mouthwatering appetizers to tantalizing entrees, each dish is a masterpiece. The ambiance is warm and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. The staff's attention to detail and friendly service add to the overall charm. Whether you're a steak enthusiast or craving a variety of culinary delights, this restaurant is a true gem. Five stars for a fantastic dining adventure!
From the moment I called to make our reservation, everything about our evening at The Old Stonehouse Restaurant was exceptional. Our waitress, Liz, was warm, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. We dined on the porch, which was beautiful — fresh flowers on every table, soft lighting, and even cozy blankets available to keep guests warm. That thoughtful touch really stood out. The food was phenomenal from start to finish. We began with the calamari, perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife enjoyed the filet mignon, tender and full of flavor, while I had the baked cod piccata, which was cooked to perfection. For dessert, we shared the chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream and a sample of apple pie ice cream — both absolutely outstanding. The setting, the service, and the food all came together to create a truly special experience for our first anniversary. Without a doubt, The Old Stonehouse is one of Warwick’s finest — we’ll be back again soon.
Excellent food and drink. Not inexpensive but worth it. Has the grilled octopus and shrimp ceviche to start, zero complaints. Cod for dinner, flakey and flawless. My wife had the mussels - which are in season now and my only minor complaint. Fresh and tender mussels don't need that much spice in the broth, but they were good. Creme brulee to end my meal, not to sweet - just the way I like it. My wife had tres leches, which I normally don't like, but they had their own take on it and did an excellent job. Would definitely eat here again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ¡The Old Stone House es una auténtica joya!
Okay, so I may be getting snooty as I get older but I expect a drink order taken within 5 or 10 minutes of getting to an eating establishment. 20 minutes went by before we placed our drink orders. When getting a second round, 30 minutes elapsed before they showed up. The appetizers were solid and the deserts were fantastic. The main courses were delicious but small portions for the money. I do highly recommend the Almond old fashioned. All in all not a bad experience but, I'm glad we weren't on a time crunch. Will be back for drinks and apps.
Date night was a huge success! The octopus was cooked to perfection, although I would have preferred the Brussels sprouts to be charred like the octopus. My husband, however, enjoyed them just the way they were. My Osso Bucco was outstanding, with the pork cooked nicely. The accompanying gravy, celeriac puree, and green beans were all delicious. Hubby raved about his meal, particularly the fingerling potatoes. We both appreciated our drinks, which were expertly crafted without being too sweet. My Pear martini was a highlight! Our server provided top-notch service, ensuring a wonderful dining experience. We'll definitely be back! Interestingly, we overheard another table praising the Cod dish as the best they'd ever had, so that's already on my list for next time!
There are times when you leave a restaurant still awestruck by the artful combination of flavors that turn ordinary foods extraordinary. This is not one of experiences. I was prepared for disappointment when the waiter said ALL the main dishes come with the same vegetables. As for service, few returns to refill water and not very attentive to customers, the orders taken between courses so far apart that the meal took over 3 hours. Let me break it down this way: Food: 3 stars. It was a good dinner, but for the $$$, it was nothing special at all. Service: 2 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Creativity: 2 stars The old fashioned cocktail was possible the best part of the meal. The filet mignon was medium when medium rare was specified twice. Everything else was just fine. The sauces seemed to be the main focus. But the sides and meats didn’t receive any special treatment. Overall the dishes lacked creativity and were pretentious.
I took my mother and girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day. They decided to do a fixed menu for the evening, not a huge deal, but it was just a surprise to everyone. I would’ve appreciated something being posted on their website where I made my reservations, clarifying this. I wasn’t thrilled with the service due to having to ask multiple times for a soda, and then again waiting for over 30 minutes on a draft beer, that I ended up not getting because of the wait time. The restaurant was awesome in itself, the hostess greeted us with a huge smile and warm words letting us know we’d be seated shortly, and the food from the fixed menu was good! Of course Valentine’s Day is a busy day and I understand that. I just felt that the night could’ve been handled better by whoever was in charge. I wanted to give the ladies in my life the most beautiful dinner, and I left there feeling underwhelmed.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews but this was a doozy. To the wait staff and front-of-house, they did their best and clearly work very hard, especially our waitress. She’s one waitress to an entire room of 5-6 large tables. Our reservation was for 3pm, we did not receive our food until 4:15pm. The Thanksgiving special was $45 per plate and these were the portion sizes (pictured). Overloaded with stuffing and green beans, bone dry cornbread, and a small of amount of the rest. I asked the waitress for more turkey, as I was not satisfied with the pictured portion. She was happy to get me some but when she returned, she said she was told “portions are what they are.” We were also told over the phone that dessert was included with the Thanksgiving special, and shocker it was actually not. Charging egregious prices while being stingy with protein portions is never a good look.
First time going for dinner there. Let’s just say the ambiance/environment was probably the best part of the experience. To start the service was sub par the waitress was friendly, kind and tried to be attentive. Looking at the menu and seeing the very high prices you would expect the portions to be substantial. When getting the appetizer or calamari the portion was laughable for i think $24?? Other local areas serve calamari for less than the price with probably double if not triple the portion here. Then getting the entrees was even more shocking with the portions. I got the blackened salmon which the taste was delicious but the portion of mashed potatoes and green beans was ridiculous all for i think $42? I tried the risotto which was undercooked and crunchy with barely any truffle flavoring to it, also extremely small portion for the price. My husband got the burger the least in expensive thing on the entrees (STILL $26) and he was not pleased. The fries also looked like they came out of a frozen bag from Sam’s club. Also, a suggestion. If you’re going to make fish dishes why do they need to have bacon or chorizo? That was also disappointing that you can’t substitute the chicken for shrimp for the risotto that’s served with chicken. Overall, disappointing. Only thing I’d go back for is to enjoy a drink or two at the bar. Don’t be surprised if you’re dropping $100 per person here.
Beautiful atmosphere, nice waitress. BUT. I would not advise coming for a special occasion such as Thanksgiving like our family did. Sat on time at 3pm, food did not come out until 4:15. My fiancés portion of their “turkey breast thanksgiving dinner” was half the size of his palm. When asked if he could get more turkey for his dinner, he was told that was the portion size served and she walked away. But looking down at my own plate, I had double the amount of turkey he had. A plate full of sides and a small portion of turkey for $40 each? Not worth it. At all. Delicious. But left still hungry after being overcharged. May come back for a second time when it may be more quiet and we could get a bit more attention, as the waitress was the only one for a dining room of 6 tables.
I’m very sorry to write this review for the Old Stone House because I’ve been there twice before and had exceptional food and excellent service both times and even purchased gift certificates for family because we had enjoyed it so much. Based on those positive experiences, we chose it for Thanksgiving this year. Unfortunately, our Thanksgiving visit could not have been more different. We were a party of seven, and not a single one of us had a decent meal. The price fixed Thanksgiving dinner was 45 dollars, without an appetizer or dessert. The quality simply was not there. The gravy was so salty it was inedible. The turkey was moist, but the portion was shockingly small, maybe two to two and a half ounces at most. The cranberry sauce and dressing were served in plastic condiment cups, which felt out of place in a restaurant of this caliber. Everything on the plate was cold. My husband and father-in-law ordered French onion soup, and it was also cold and lacked body. It tasted like onions cooked in water. My father-in-law ordered the cod and asked to substitute a different vegetable for spinach, which he doesn’t like, but was told there were no substitutions allowed. He accepted the spinach, but when the cod arrived, it was cold. My mother-in-law ordered the pork schnitzel, and it was so tough she couldn’t cut it. To their credit, they brought a replacement, and the second one was somewhat better. My parents both ordered short ribs, but as other reviewers have noted, this dish was not actually short ribs. It appeared to be a different cut of meat, likely chuck roast, and the portions were very small. My sister ordered the turkey dinner, and her plate was also cold with equally tiny portions. The only meals anyone enjoyed were the osso bucco, which my husband said was good, and the beef empanadas, which were spicy but tasty. What made the experience especially disappointing is that the service was actually excellent. The wait staff was attentive, polite, and very friendly. The restaurant itself is charming and has a lot of ambiance, although it was understandably noisy for a holiday. Our reservation was at 2 p.m., so the kitchen should not have been overwhelmed. There’s really no explanation for food arriving cold, and certainly not at that early seating. They offer a discount for cash, which is appreciated, and they automatically add a twenty percent gratuity. We didn’t mind the tip at all because the service was the only redeeming part of the meal. We have had great experiences here in the past, which is why we chose it for Thanksgiving, but this was extremely disappointing. Of the seven meals served to our table, every one of them fell short. If you decide to visit the Old Stone House, which still has a beautiful setting and very kind staff, I would strongly recommend going on a regular day. Based on our experience, holiday dining is not their strength. Unfortunately, this was the worst Thanksgiving meal I’ve ever had.
