The dishes were generous and delicious. We tried the mixed platter of appetizers, pasta with venison, pasta with porcini mushrooms, polenta, and cheeses. Absolutely everything was delicious! The homemade desserts were delicious. We complimented both the kitchen staff and the service. Everyone was very kind and friendly, especially the owner. The atmosphere was warm and spacious, with a beautiful view of the valley. Highly recommended!

A beautiful Sunday morning stroll through Santa Maria Maggiore deserves to end with a delicious lunch. The Rifugio Il Camoscio in Craveggia is worth a visit. It has a large indoor dining room, a beautiful covered and heated veranda for a warm lunch in the winter, and a magnificent outdoor veranda perfect for the warmer months. The menu is rich and varied, featuring traditional mountain dishes, and the quality is excellent. The polenta with mixed sauces is a must-try. The staff is friendly and efficient. Reservations are essential, especially on weekends.

Located on a busy road, it has some designated parking. A short flight of steps leads to a splendid outdoor wooden terrace overlooking the entire valley, which is covered in case of inclement weather. Alternatively, you can sit inside. Lunch began with a shared appetizer of cured meats and vegetables, followed by tagliatelle with venison or mushrooms, and a shared main course of polenta accompanied by mushrooms, venison, braised beef, tripe with beans, sausage, bruscini, snails, and finally Zola. Everything was excellent, as were the homemade fruit tarts and coffee. Bitters on the house. The quality of the lunch was GOOD... the average bill was high.

Una storia... una garanzia.. piatti preparati davvero con cura. Tutto buono. Servizio cortese, veloce, semplice, famigliare. Location tipica della zona con possibilità di passeggiate. Brave alla mamma e alla figlia che gestiscono.

Excellent location, with the option of dining outside with a truly heavenly view. Attentive, fast, and friendly service. For those who love traditional mountain food, even in summer, this is the ideal place. Excellent quality meats and cured meats. The restaurant offers a spacious, very welcoming indoor area for the winter months. Parking is also excellent. Highly recommended.

We stumbled upon this refuge on a friend's recommendation. The food was hearty and homey. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was refined, typical of the area. The polenta with melted cheese was excellent, highly recommended!

this place is certainly POPULAR! considering yourself lucky if you snatch a seat on a sunday, it seems like the entire neighborhood has made a reservation here before you. foodwise, it is not really special. it is all about polenta. good polenta. perhaps even outstanding polenta. but nevertheless, polenta. it tastes kind of like mashed potatoes, made out of corn. it is served with a wide variety of side dishes which can be combined or ordered separately. service is somewhat rushed but friendly enough - unless of course you are a local. then you are treated with respect and even get a free shot after lunch.

Very kind people, good food!!! Both the polenta and the venison. Welcoming place, beautiful panoramic view. I bought some bags of mountain herbs, truly fragrant!! I've never found anything like them!! Highly recommended!! P.S. The blueberry tart was excellent!!!

Good value, limited choice for those looking for something traditional. All the dishes didn't impress me. I had high expectations, but after receiving the first courses in 5 minutes, I realized that what I was expecting was far from what I expected. The pasta was probably precooked with the sauce drizzled on top, the first course with mushrooms was with cream, and the creamy sauce was missing from all the first courses. The sauces accompanying the polenta were the same as those on the pasta, the only difference being the mushroom sauce, which was without cream.
