Amazing food and great service. Had the best meal with good friends. The owner made sure everthing was perfect. The wait staff was very professional and helpful. Will always make a point to return when in town.
I came all the way from Tucson, Arizona and stumbled upon this place by happenstance. La Traviata has wonderful workers and a wonderful owner. I will definitely make a trip back here to eat their delicious food again! Thank you Mario!
This restaurant was awesome. We celebrated my mother's 75th birthday there. The owner and staff were very accommodating and friendly. They took excellent care of our large party. The food was delicious. Please make sure to try the filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection along with the grilled shrimp. The drinks from the bar were on point! Thanks again Mario & staff!
The food is consistently very, very good! Service is always excellent. We tend to go in off hours just so we can enjoy the Ambiance of a nice Italian restaurant. This restaurant is very popular during the lunch hour. It's only a couple of miles away but beware of all of the road construction. But don't be discouraged because the food is worth it. Before you go check the hours. I think it is closed for a couple of hours between lunch and dinner.
Very nice restaurant. Very friendly service, great cocktails and wine, and great food. Portions are too small though, so don't come in too hungry. We had to seat outside because of Covid and protocols, but the inside is very nice and elegant. The patio is nice too. Great place for a date.
Truly fine dining, Italian style 😉 with a quaint vibe and excellent food/drinks/service. But do not just take my word for it…go have a try for yourself 🙏🏾
Truly outstanding! Mario has a winner here. Everything our party of 7 had was amazing. Highly recommend!
My friend and I were celebrating our anniversary and since this place was just across the street from where I live, we decided to try it out! First of all, the employees at this restaurant are amazing and so so nice! We were greeted at the door by Mario (who is the owner) and he was just so welcoming right when we walked in! Our waitress was so attentive and so patient with us choosing what we wanted to eat
Wow! We hosted a wedding dinner reception for our son last night in their gorgeous event room. Everything, from start to finish, went above and beyond our greatest expectations! Mario was a gracious host and went all out to accommodate us. Our servers were top notch and took care of our every need. And the food - everyone raved about their meals, the Chilean sea bass, rack of lamb, all the pastas - delicious - squisito!!! This was our first time at La Traviata but it won't be our last. I highly recommend you check it out, especially for an event. Mario and staff, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this a night to remember. Gracie mille!
Old school dining as it should be done. High ceilings, white linen tablecloth, service that attains that elusive balance between attentiveness and privacy, live piano from the bar. Somehow simultaneously elegant and unpretentious. Did I mention the tastiest salmon I've had in a long while? This is a place to celebrate your special occasions.
The food at LA Traviata is amazing (especially the lobster ravioli) but it is the service that sets it apart from every other good Italian restaurant. The owner will no doubt visit your table at some point and make you feel like you are a guest in his living room with his European charm. The drinks are very good and strong enough to be worth the money (sadly, not always the case).
I love this place! It is so very cool to have a wonderful restaurant in my building. The food is wonderful! Mario, the owner, is there every night and greets all guests. The decor is astonishing. Simply one of the best restaurants in downtown Long Beach.
We recently had a wedding celebration dinner for 15 people at La Traviata in Long Beach. The food and appetizers were delicious, the staff was wonderful and the ambience was just perfect. Mario was very accommodating in helping me set this celebration in less than a week! I highly recommend La Traviata.
Amazing premier service, from valet, hostess, server, bartender, piano player!!! They made my daughter's birthday a dream, not to mention their delicious food. Don't know how they magically made brussel sprouts taste scrumptious .😍😍😍 thank you 🙏🙏🙏
cant say enough about this place. Had my wifes 60th birthday party brunch here - food/service/atmosphere/music was great!!! A big shout out to Mario who sang happy birthday in italian , Sam for the great drinks and staff for ALWAYS including us while busy with other guests DJ even rocked the house - you guys are absolutely AMAZING thanks for making this a memorable day !!!
The food was amazing. I opted for the Pasta special which I'm sure had a lovely title but I forget that now. It was so delishious: chicken and zucini over pappardelle in a lemon cream sauce. I wish a had left overs but I couldn't stop myself from finishing. Ha! Valet made parking super easy($7) but call ahead to make sure they offering valet because steet parking was scarce. We all enjoyed the jazzy piano entertainment and the staff and owner were very attentive to all our needs.
I came here for valentine day, it was really easy to make reservations online, first time coming to this location and I was really satisfied with my decision. Both plates were amazing. The lasagna is a must!
I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner. We were in town for a conference and needed a place that would seat 13 guests. I called and spoke to Mario. They aren't normally open on Mondays, but he opened the place to be able to accommodate our party. The food was excellent (hand made pasta, amazing steaks and seafood). They were very attentive and gave us great service. It's a short walk from the Convention Center and a nice quiet atmosphere. Thank you for an amazing dinner!
just came back here after years. Tried one of the signature dishes: chilean sea bass. It was perfect! Nothing to complain about any of the other dishes anyone has either! Oh and the bruschetta appetizer was something unexpectedly special too
My wife and me had a wonderful time. There's was really good music, live music and singing. Also the ambiance was great, and the owner Mario was really attentive with all the customers. And the food wooww, it was really great. Also the waitress was so professional and so attentive and so polite. Even the bus boys were so professionals and great attitude. I truly recommend this great experience, to have a great dinning experience.
We celebrated our anniversary at this enchanting Italian restaurant and were swept away by its romantic ambiance. The chandeliers, delicate light bulbs outside, and live piano music created a magical atmosphere. The culinary journey was exceptional, with authentic Italian dishes bursting with flavor. The staff provided warm and attentive service, making our evening truly special. Highly recommended for couples seeking a memorable, romantic dining experience.
The food here is fantastic! This is fine dining. Sophisticated dishes. Full bar. This is not a place to if you want a quick bite. This is a dining experience. Great place for birthdays. Perfect for entertaining out of town guests. Every dish is exceptional. The waiters are professional and attentive. I recommend this restaurant.
An Italian retreat as classy as it is contemporary, La Traviata is a must every time I'm in Long Beach. Come for the live music or the hardwood bartop, and stay for the broad array of classics and new favorites. The wine list is pitch-perfect, and the desserts worth making some room for. And do yourself the favor of their Oaxacan Old Fashioned. A true dining bastion that's been delighting the LBC for decades.
Popped in for Sunday brunch last weekend. I could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. The staff were lovely, professional and knowledgeable from minute 1 to farewell. It was difficult to choose between even the more focused offerings of brunch. But I had a beautiful starter that adorned with delicately poached shrimp in an excellent dressing. The cajun blackened salmon salad for the main was perfectly cooked and well-complimented by the bed salad that was presented with it. The wine list will make you shed a tear if not a few dollars! The service was outstanding. Ive already invited three other couples to dinner for the singular purpose of introducing them to this place. You will not be disappointed!
What a great restaurant, staff is warm and welcoming. Food was excellent and they accommodated simple substations. I felt safer on the streets here compared to Pine Ave, which is getting sketchy. We will be back!
My boyfriend took me out to La Traviata for Valentines day and it was an amazing experience. The food is tasty and well prepared. Also very visually appealing display. Live music was amazing! The service is excellent. The best I've had since I've moved to LA. The wait staff and servers are attentive and very accommodating. The owner was also present and made sure everything was perfect. I'll definitely becoming back for my other special events. This was just so magical.
Indulging at La Traviata was an absolute culinary escape! The dishes were like art on a plate – each one carefully crafted with flavors that danced in perfect harmony. The restaurant's atmosphere exuded an elegant yet inviting Italian charm, immersing me in a world of taste and culture. Can't recommend this charming restaurant enough!
I have not been back for a few years but the restaurant just gets better each time. We visited with one of the owners, Mario, who took great pride in making sure everything was exactly to our liking. One of the great features about this restaurant is that if you like a certain dish cooked to your liking, they will prepare it for you, even if it is not on the menu. The staff is incredible and absolutely love working here and it shows. If you are a neighbor or in the neighborhood I would highly recommend it.
After years of driving past this restaurant my husband and I finally decided to check it out for date night and I'm glad we did! The service was quick and friendly. We had reservations for 7p.m. but we got there much earlier and they sat us with no problem. The service was great and the food was outstanding! I have to say though the highlight of our night was seeing Rod Stewart attending a party there. So cool! We will definitely be returning.
Just came here on a Saturday night and heard excellent live music with delicious food! I am gluten and dairy free and they had excellent substitutions for me. The food was phenomenal and even the owner sat down with us at our table. Highly recommend! Definitely coming here again!!!
I am finally getting around to writing a review and more importantly expressing my gratitude to the owners and staff of La Traviata. I was in town a year ago for business and brought along my wife and two young children to make a family vacation out of it. We were looking for good Italian for dinner one night and La Traviata came up on the radar. Concerned about the atmosphere with children, the hostess who answered the phone assured me there would be no problem. Upon entering the restaurant we were shown to our own private table area and promptly waited on. Our appetizers were fantastic and the food even better. They made special accommodations for my kids and the owner even came by and sat down and enjoyed some dinner with us. I cannot express how thankful I am for this experience. We had an exceptional night and we will be back as soon as we can. Thank you!
We had an amazing Valentine's Day at La Traviata! The ambiance was romantic and my Fiance loved the food and wine. They had a great 4 course meal and were very accommodating to our table. Thank you for making our V-Day extra special! We will definitely be coming again for their Happy Hours too!
Came here with a group for dinner. The ravioli I ordered looked really small at first, but they were actually perfectly filling. And tasty, to boot! The owner was so kind, he came and chatted with us for a bit. He asked us if we were feeling dessert and we said no (didn't feel like we could eat entire desserts, or at least that's how I felt since I was pretty full). He went ahead and brought us all a complementary slice of pistachio pie to share! (I felt kind of silly not thinking that we could all just share a dessert.) It was nice to finish dinner with something sweet. All the employees are incredibly kind and considerate. I would definitely recommend coming here.
I was at the Long Beach Convention Center for the RAE Summit and really wanted something non-touristry for lunch. This was a fairly quick walk over and was my absolute favourite place we ate there. It's beautiful inside, with artwork and high ceilings, but still with a cozy feel. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. Strongly recommend!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we loved this place!! My boyfriend grew up on his grandmother's Italian cooking. He said the pasta was just like his grandmother's. They made us feel very welcome from the greeting at the door. Great atmosphere, live piano player the owner was very friendly as well as the server and they had excellent service. We are definitely going back.
I can't say enough good thing, the food and the service were amazing. The live music was perfect, great song choices, not to loud not too quiet. We spoke with the owner and he was a great guy and shared some history with us. Highly recommend!
Who says the west coast doesn’t have good Italian? GO HERE. One of the best Italian meals I have had in Cali. Live music going on the piano, excellent service, affordable pricing. We will definitely be back!
I just had the most unexpected lovely dinner at La Traviata! When traveling for work, I like to find local spots that you wouldn’t find at home. I was feeling Italian and decided randomly on La Traviata. I was between Italian or a restaurant on the water but went with my gut. My gut is never wrong. As I walked in (likely looking out of place), I was greeted by Mario and asked to be seated at the bar to which Mario escorted me to. There I met Jackie behind the bar as well as the other patrons/regulars with kind embrace. The conversation was unexpected yet delightful. I felt as though I was already a regular. Now for the food. Wow. The brussel sprouts were to die for. They were perfectly crisp and coated in a light honey mustard and plenty of garlic. Next I got the sausage fettuccine and vodka sauce. My lord was it delicious. Not too rich, incredibly delicious, and perfect portion. The pasta was delicious with the perfect texture and a sauce that was light for a red sauce yet full of flavor! I have no other reason to go back to Long Beach however, when I do, I will be going to La Traviata!
Delicious Italian cuisine with wide variety of desserts if you save room after your meal. Went with clients and ordered one of each appetizers and they each were better than the next. We had amazing service with great recommendations on main courses and my lasagna was so good. Glad of the recommendation & amazing flavors.
La Traviata Ristorante is located in the downtown area of Long Beach. It sits right next to one of cities historical landmarks... the Willmore Building. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful & romantic. But wait... the food is just as good if not better. We had a pasta dish that was superb. Then later we find out that they make the pasta in house. No wonder. We have enjoyed great bottles of wine off their list. Very tasty. It is a great place to dine at. Our waitress Hope was on point and made sure that we had everything we needed. See you there!
I was invited here for a Christmas party. My cousin was throwing. I love the bar and how much excitement. It brought to the restaurant. We had a private dining area and our own bartender. The meal for the evening was served family style. The entries included meat lasagna, a vegetarian lasagna, spicy pene pasta and a chicken Alfredo. What I really enjoyed the most was the Caesar salad, which was freshly made with anchovies. This classic salad is rarely made like this any more. The serving staff did great and all of our food was delivered in good time. The owner Mario is delightful and I definitely want visit again soon.
Blake was such a wonderful waitress! She was so kind and very helpful in deciding what entree to choose. Thank you Blake!
Second time here! Coming from San Diego border and coming back ASAP 🙌🏼 Our server Coco was phenomenal and so kind! Very informative! Thank you kindly to Mario for the porcini sauce ✨ we will come back endlessly for it! What a lovely place to spend a romantic evening with my everything 🫂❤️ 10/10 ACROSS THE BOARD!!
We were visiting from out of town for an event at the convention center and didn't plan enough ahead for places to dine at. Our last night was rainy and we wanted to treat ourselves so we showed up here without a reservation and unfortunately they were full. FORTUNATELY, this restaurant has the best ownership I've ever seen and the owner personally came over and asked if we would sit at the bar instead of turning us away to the rain. On top of this, he was gracious enough to offer us the brussels sprout appetizers for free to try and they were AMAZING. The food, the service, the atmosphere were top notch. In-fact the reason I am leaving this review is because I told myself, whenever we are in Long Beach, we will be stopping by. We are going back out this month and I had forgot the name so this is my opportunity to leave my review and I can't wait to dine here again.
The whole experience was great. Our server Bobbi did such an amazing job catering me and my husband. She recommended the happy hour menu and it was our first time here so it was nice to get a taste of what all this restaurant has to offer. The chef did great with presentation of each dish and the food was delicious. We will be returning often.
I reached out for an event booking and Mr.Mario was quick and responded back. The easiest vendor response and the easiest to communicate. If you are looking to host a small party meeting venue please reach out to Mario!! All the best to the team
Where Italian elegance throws a party with old-world charm and invites your taste buds to dance. Picture this: A Saturday night in Long Beach and the historic Willmore building glowing like it’s holding secrets from a century ago. My wife and I strolled in, dressed to impress and ready to celebrate our daughter’s birthday like it was a national holiday. La Traviata didn’t just open its doors, they threw them wide, popped some bubbles, and practically sang “Benvenuti!” before we even sat down. We had reservations, but the way they whisked us to our table, you’d think we were visiting dignitaries, or at the very least, folks with an unhealthy passion for pasta. Within minutes, we had a round of sparkling bubbles in hand, fizzing like little Italian fireworks. Cheers to birthdays, bubbles, and food that flirts with your soul. The Salad: Crisp. Fresh. Balanced. The kind of starter that makes you sit up straighter and believe in leafy greens again. The Pasta: Oh, mamma mia. This wasn’t just a dish, it was an edible love letter written in cream, garlic, and perfectly cooked noodles. It didn’t just fill the stomach. It healed wounds I didn’t know I had. And then, cue the spotlight, James and Celeste Alcantara began serenading the room. Their music didn’t just float through the air. They wrapped around the evening like a velvet ribbon. When they sang “Happy Birthday” to our daughter, we all went from “enjoying a nice meal” to “excellence in the candlelight.” It was a Hallmark moment… but with better sauce. The service? Impeccable. Present without hovering. Friendly without being fake. Like dining with family, if your family was really, really good at timing. The ambiance? Flickering candles, vintage accents, and cozy corners. This place doesn’t whisper romance, it croons it. We left full, glowing, and already plotting our return. La Traviata doesn’t just serve dinner. It serves story-worthy evenings. The kind you replay in your head during Monday morning meetings and sigh out loud about. TL;DR: Historic building. Italian magic. Pasta that hugs your soul. Live serenades by angels in disguise. If you’re not already booking a table, I’m not sure we can be friends.
Thank you so much for getting my appetite full. Your food are very savory. I really enjoyed my stay here. I will surely recommend them.
What an elegant restaurant. We came here to celebrate my birthday and from begining to end what spectacular service. Our server Hope, was so professional and personable. The drinks, foods and desserts delicious. I even got to choose a dessert for free and they bring it to you with a candle and sing Happy Birthday. The owner Mario, came to our table and greeted us, he was there too singing Happy Birthday also. It gets better, they have live music which was so nice and relaxing. Highly recommend this Restaurant, we LOVED it and so will you!
Family owned and operated. I picked the perfect time to go. Food was good, service was good. Don Vito would be proud. Highly recomended!!!
Amazing food and great service! Also live music on Saturday night and that made the whole culinary experience ever better! Ordered Brussel sprouts for starters and it was delicious. Had scampi pasta for main and it was best pasta I have ever had so far. Others in our group took risottos and lasagna and those were so delicious too. Kids had spaghetti with butter and loved it. Save room for desserts! We ordered few and they were great and beautiful too! We were welcomed by the owner and he made sure that we and our kids were enjoying our time with them!
I had a great experience at this place. Great for a date or a nice dinner with friends. Food was delicious and at a great price. The overall feeling of the environment is very inviting. Piano 🎹 music sets the tone of your dinner, great selection of wine and mix drinks. I had the chance to meet Mario the restaurant owner who is a very nice man to have a conversation with. Definitely will be going back.
Beyond friendly service, great specials, and eloquently adorned furniture to suit the ambiance. The owner likes to personally greet guests and make them feel welcome. The menu is finely curated and special. Nice bar service as well as an events space with its own separate bar.
We completely enjoyed ourselves at La Traviata! (Italian Restaurant) A big THANK YOU to Bobbie for making our first visit a memorable one. The food, service, entertainment and atmosphere are all well deserving of a 5 ⭐️. Looking forward to our next visit.
My work holiday party was here. 🤩😍love the decor, we had the whole back room with a bar. Loved the art, Christmas decorations. The staff was great. I had multiple appetizers, pastas and desserts. The key lime cheesecake dessert was amazing. Lasagna was great,I also loved the sausage fettucine. Most of my peers preferred the penne pasta and lasagna. The drinks were impressive, you gotta try the chocolate martini. There is some type of cranberry drink,I forget what it is called, but ,yum! Order is with a sugar, instead of salt rim, you wont regret it. The downsides, parking, there is slim pickings around the restauraunt. Some of us ubered there, the rest drove around for 20 minutes looking for parking. The staff were amazing, except we had one incident. We were getting our food to go, and the staff brought our penne to the next table, and dropped off the to go boxes to their table. Ignored ours. My coworker asked a server, can we have the penne back, she apologized and said she will ask the other table to get it back, said some guy will bring us boxes. When my coworker pointed out that the penne was ours and everyone, not just one table gets to take food home, the server repeated herself,in a hostile tone. Later tge server wordlessly threw down a big serving of penne in front of my coworker, didnt even look at her/ make eye contact, and about a minute later the to go boxes were dropped off,two seats away from my coworker. I thought that was very petty and uneccesary. I was thinking wow! That was passive aggressive, and as I was thinking that,a few others were mentioning how passive aggressive that was. So yeah, the inappropriate behavior was noticed by all, not just my coworker and I. The rest of the staff were awesome, food, drinks were awesome. Sure, one rude server, but this place is outstanding,I definately will eat here again. I highly recommend you eat here. Plan to park in a nearby lot and walk,to uber or valet park. You are going to love this place, it's your favorite Italian restaurant to eat at, you just dont know it yet. Seriously, awesome, food, drink, atmosphere.
Lovely place! The staff were all nice, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant looks sooo elegant and calm. Parking was a bit difficult to find since it's downtown Long Beach. But it was definitely worth coming here! I had fettuccine di Mario and a berry bourbon. Our drinks in the picture (starting from the top, clockwise) martini, berry bourbon, virgin strawberry daiquiri, and venetian.
La Traviata is a high end dinner restaurant. It opens up at 5:00 P. M. , and offers a daily happy hour. from 5:00-6:00.p.m. Mon-Fri. Specializing in Italian cuisine. I enjoyed the freshly baked warm 🍞 bread with butter, grilled brussel sprouts, a mixed green salad w/balsamic vinaigrette dressing and a glass 🥂 of Moscato white wine on the patio. The food is superb; the staff is professional, and courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a small reception dinner for our wedding here and it was absolutely perfect! Mario is very accommodating and extremely welcoming as was all the staff. The atmosphere was excellent and the food was even better. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for any casual dinner reservation as well as anyone planning a more elaborate event!
I've been coming to La Traviata for years. The food is the best Italian I've had since my grandmother passed. The the atmosphere; chandlers, restaurant decor and the design of the bar are exquisite and well placed. The owner treats me like family even though I'm only there once or twice a year. All the staff are exceptional. The music is just right, performances have never been too loud to have a conversation, and fantastic people who are warm and inviting.
We were looking for a nice dinner on a rainy Saturday night before going to the theater, and La Traviata did not disappoint. We made a reservation online. The chairs in the dining room are so comfortable! The music was classy and cozy. The dinner rolls are delicious and our meals were tasty and well-prepared. The service was excellent and the owner or manager, Mario, stopped by our table to check on us. I highly recommend La Traviata for a lovely date night❤️
The service was friendly and attentive. They had a piano player with nice background music. The food was phenomenal. We had Rigatoni bolognese. The sauce was among the best we've ever had. We also had the Chilean sea bass which was prepared to perfection. We'll be sure an visit again the next time we're in Long Beach.
We had dinner at La Traviata on Christmas Eve. The food was amazing, the ambience was warm and intimate and the staff were wonderful. They made us feel very welcome, and even went out of their way to make specialty drinks that they had never made before. The owner even stopped by our table a couple of times.

Who says the west coast doesn’t have good Italian? GO HERE. One of the best Italian meals I have had in Cali. Live music going on the piano, excellent service, affordable pricing. We will definitely be back!

The food was just ok. Service could not be beat. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The music was sub par. The guy with the trumpet and synthesizer needs to go. Singer was off key a bit but sounded nice for the most part.
I recommend the mushroom ravioli, it was tasty. The live music created a smooth elegance, the server was helpful And polite. They sang for my girlfriends birthday which was cool.I Recommend.
I pretty much judge an Italian restaurant by its Ossobuco and while this wasn't the best (a little over cooked) it was pretty good. It was light on the sauce which some people may like (I like more) and the vegetables were super fresh and bright. The pasta was ok, I wish there had been more. My standard Beefeaters on the rocks dirty with two olives was probably the best any bartender has made for me; it was just enough dirty without being over the top. This restaurant is located in the historic Willmore Building. As a side note when USC is bequeathed real estate in the Palos Verdes and South Bay areas they hire me to sell these properties and I had sold a condo on the Willmore some years ago. Always wanted to eat here and as it turns out some wonderful friends took us here.
Brought my girlfriend on her birthday last year. Super awesome experience. She loved the lamb, I loved the lasagne. Dessert was fantastic! Wonderful birthday memory. I'm bringing her again this Friday for her birthday. A new tradition for us!
We have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere here so we've finally made this our 'must go to' for dining when we go to the theater (ICT) downtown. We are always warmly greeted by the proprietor, Mario, and the renovations make place even more inviting. The only issue of late has been twice now I've ordered lasagna and it was tasteless. Much salt and parmesan made it tolerable but not up to their usual standards. I trust this will be fixed soon.
This is a great place for a romantic dinner. I had the salmon and it was perfect. Mashed potatoes are so creamy and decadent that you want to eat more and more. We will be going back to try more dishes on the menu.
The ambiance of La Traviata is top notch. George, the owner makes one feel as if they are at his home; he’s that welcoming. The decor is that of a top-notch Italian Bistro. The Lemon Drop Martini I ordered was absolutely the best one I’ve had. We hosted guests that night, and their Salmon dishes were picture perfect, and were described by them as incredibly delicious. My husbands Ravioli were delicious. My dish was a pasta with a Jalepeño cream sauce. Sadly, my dish did not seem to have the same attention to detail that the other dishes did. We had a great visit, listening to the piano player. When George came by, and I gave him my opinion of the dish (he asked), he tried to be accommodating, I chalked it up to an anomaly. I highly recommend eating and having drinks at La Traviata!! (Sorry no pictures, the dishes all had beautiful presentations!) 🙌🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The delicious dinner was flawlessly prepared and artistically presented at our pristinely set table. The staff and proprietor were attentive and pleasant. We will definitely select an outdoor table on our next visit, since the acoustics and the live piano volume was deafening, such that a dinner conversation was impossible even from our table's location furthest from the music. We were very lucky that this restaurant is open again so that we could celebrate a memorable birthday.
The restaurant hosted a Silent Party for NYE, and it was very nice. I loved how much dance floor space was available, and the bottle service was excellent. I have never dined here, but it looks like a good place for fine dining.
Located in the most beautiful area of Long Beach with the best homemade pasta you'll find. This is my go-to for entertaining and it never disappoints.
We sat outside because the restaurant was booked with three parties. The service was excellent, the drinks perfect and appetizers scrumptious. However, the main courses while beautiful were bland and lacking seasoning. I'm hoping it was an off night since everything else was great. The food is the most important and just wasn't tasty even though it look like it would be delicious. 😢
My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday and he chose it because we were going to the Opera after to see La Traviata, so he wanted to make a theme night. The restaurant is small and quaint. They had live music. The decor is very simple, a bit rustic? But had some very pretty chandeliers. You must have reservations and must arrive on time. Our server was very polite and was quick at answering questions and making suggestions. I ordered the Chicken Milanese, and my husband had the Lasagna. Both were very delicious. We did not have any wine although it looked like they had a good selection and we opted for no dessert (good selection as well), as our meals were pretty good size. We both liked it and would go back. This restaurant has been open for 25 yrs.

Food was fantastic. I got the beef ravioli. It came out quick and it was a hot fresh plate. I saw my server only once or twice and that disrupted the overall experience but I got the chance to meet Mario, the owner, his hospitality and professionalism is next level. 4/5 Stars would come back.

Friendly service in a nice setting. Food is average and pricey. $20 for a pasta dish seems excessive, especially when not bursting with flavor. Worth going if you have a coupon or maybe it's a date night and you want the fancy.
staff are professional and adept. The clam chowder was a thinner base instead of the common milk base . The linguine mare had alot of seafood such as clams , muscles, shrimp , and calamari however it was lacking in flavor with pasta that was over done , no salt, and too much broth base . The aesthetics inside are nice however the chandelier in the main dining room is crooked and off its axis plus the ceiling mural appears incomplete.
I thought that the food was decent despite the length of time it took to reach the table after ordering. Perhaps it was an unusual occurrence for a Saturday night with a number of empty tables. The piano player and owner were very friendly and engaging to customers though.
Bruschetta was very good. Chicken was extremely tough and lots of cords in it, lasagne was average at best. Gave it a 3 based on the bruschetta everything else 1.
We were in the mood for something fancy but fairly light, and this was down the street, so we decided to try their happy hour (which had previously seen advertised). Turns out their happy hour is only Monday-Friday, so we decided to just try a couple of their appetizers instead, as we weren't in the mood to pay through the teeth - their menu is not cheap. Not even the appetizers were cheap, for the amount of food they give you, though they certainly were fancy enough (and way delicious). This is the sort of place you take a date that you want to impress, I think. (Not only the prices of things, but the feel of the place, too; it's pretty decadently decorated, not in a bad way.) Our waitress, though, seemed personally offended that we were there for happy hour and then didn't order full meals or a lot of drinks, though; our appetizers took a rather long time to arrive (they weren't even cooked...), and our check took even longer. She tried to charge us an extra 3 bucks for each item, too (good thing I looked at the bill). I'd totally come back for happy hour (5 buck pretty respectable scotch!), but I don't think I would come back for normal dinner hour unless I got rich first. It wasn't -that- amazing.
Intimate lighting, the live instrumentation was nice and the seating was comfortable. The calamari was very good, no butter for the bread(i guess being that it’s an Italian restaurant((oil, vinegar, etc.)), very nice wine selection the Sauvignon Blanc was exceptional. The service was cool, felt a little iffy for whatever reason but was ultimately ok and attentive. The food was pretty good, the lobster pappardelle had a lot of elements and was pretty good, would definitely recommend. The lobster tortelli on the other was somewhat bland and lacked some zing or for lack of better words flavor. Also there’s a painting here with a naked woman, with her legs painted together as one. Looks pretty odd and is kindve like a unibutt, or maybe just the really long back of a mermaid with no scales with two feet at the bottom. Kindve like a skin skirt, pretty odd, but hey, art is art I guess.
I’m hoping I just caught the kitchen on a rare off-night, as I’ve heard good things. Unfortunately, my recent visit didn't quite live up to expectations. The lobster fettuccine was a bit thin, and my steak arrived rare and quite cold rather than the medium-rare I’d requested. Even the sides and dessert—specifically the mashed potatoes and a somewhat stale cheesecake—fell a little short. To top it off, the service was quite slow throughout the evening. I'd like to think this isn't the standard here.
The descriptions listed on the menu do not match what comes out on the plate. The descriptions make you excited for what’s coming. The presentation of the meal makes you double check to make sure l that that is indeed what you ordered. I will equate my meal with a cafeteria style plate. My potato purée turned out to be an ice cream scoop of mashed potato that I’m sure was not from scratch. The meal lacked flavor and was definitely over priced for the quality of meal that I received. I will not be returning.
I'm a chef and pastry chef, so here is my review as honestly and best as I can explain. I had the mushroom pastry for the appetizer and it really wasn't good. I was expecting an delightfully interesting taste, but the flavors did not pair well at all. For my main course I chose the Kale salad. This was also unpleasant. But they took it off of my bill. The owner was welcoming and even sung Happy birthday for my friend. The server we had was nice at first but then closer to the end she said some pretty stereotypical/rood things to a couple of my friends. My rating is mainly because of the food, the brussle sprouts were undercooked even after asking to remake them a second time they were cooked a little more, even the lobster dishes that most of my party had they said was underseasoned and just toleratable to eat. The chocolate mousse cake was absolutely delicious though. It's a nice establishment but the recipes need some adjustments, to be more flavorful and properly executed.
Most people would say I’m the most positive person they know! The owner of the establishment profiled my group of friends tonight. A group of atleast 15+ paying clients were turned away from using the private room in which prior reservation was made because his assumption was that the group coming would be one to spend money. Under the assumption we would not have the money in our accounts to pay he refused to accommodate. Mind you, we had not yet been seated in the room and the group had every desire to spend money but because we appear “ethnic” we can’t afford the place?. How dare he assume because of our skin color that we would not spend money. We walked out after finding out just prior to arrival he had refused another friend of ours of using the restroom. This was because he assumed he had walked in off the street however he had in fact already been a paying client in the establishment for over 2 hours. Mind you our friend is very well dressed, respectful, and established so the owner was purely profiling and assuming due to the color of his skin that he had just walked in. In conclusion according to my calculations this restaurant is not for those the color of a brown paper bag or darker. He lost out on 15+ customers tonight!
I hate to leave poor reviews for establishments, but it seems the owner of this restaurant had an agenda to make our experience an embarassment. Very uncomfortable racist experience. He told our friend he could not use the bathroom, and in fact had to go to the Church to relieve himself. He was an African American patron who had just spent 2 hours dining. After arguing back and forth and finally realizing his wrong, the owner offered a bottle of wine. And then proceeded to gossip to other patrons about what had occurred, making himself seem victimized. What year are we in?? It would be comedic if it wasn't so incredibly offensive. Will no longer support this place.
Wanted to try a new restaurant and chanced on this place. The ambience was nice, food came out pretty quickly, and service was good. However, that’s where the niceties end. The food wasn’t great, which is unfortunate considering the prices. My entire party ordered various different dishes but none of it was good except for the clam chowder. The lobster mac didn’t have enough cheese, mashed potatoes were somewhat cold and unseasoned, lobster ravioli didn’t have any garnish and looked quite sad, and the Chilean seabass wasn’t flaky but had a mashed like texture. Speaking on the Chilean seabass, the vegetables on the side resembled those you get from a frozen bag. In all honesty, save your time. You’re better off going to L’opera or Michael’s on Naples for better food.
I believe I was racially profiled at this establishment. First, I had a reservation for indoor dining and upon my arrival the waitress attempts to sit me on the patio around the corner. Secondly, after stating that wasn't accepted seating we were seated in doors and ignored accept for water and bread. I guess we were given the jail meal. After, getting the attention of the waitress and placing we waited to have staff contnue to ignore our existence and continue to serve everyone around our party. After. Observing what I was sure I was experiencing racial discrimination as we were truly the only party of color in the building and their performance was to serve their regulars and their preferred customer, I decided to exit. Upon, my departure I informed the hostess that I felt that their service was horrible and she didn't bother to inquire about my experience or try to make it right. She stood there dumbfounded. So, I am left to believe I experienced racial discrimination.
Hands down one of the worst restaurants I have eaten at. The service was good, I must say, but the food, horrendous! We ordered the brussel sprouts they were undercooked. The salad was just a pile of spinach leaves, no flavor and a spot of goat cheese. First time I have ever had pasta with massive chunks of uncooked tomato, and the cherry on top was a creme brulee that was overcooked! Spare yourself the $100+ bill and find another spot, there plenty of amazing restaurants, this is not one.
We are familiar with La Traviata and our friends have gone there with us, but this was the last time that we will be there. I was looking forward to my filet mignon and after 45 minutes they brought me a New York Strip covered in gravy and told me that a larger party ordered the filets after me and ran out so they actually served me the steak without even asking me if I wanted it instead of my filet... I have never had an experience like that and even the owner said that it was inexcusable, but they walked away with no other options..... I told them I came for the filet and I would have gone somewhere else if they had told me that they gave my steak away to another table after 45 minutes. Horrible experience, will not go back and telling all our friends who have been there before no more La Traviate.
Very limited menu. The restaurant is considered "Italian Cuisine restaurant", but the chef definitely believes that Italian cuisine is all about pasta and nothing else. So most of the menu is pasta. They also have steaks, I ordered filet mignon and that was my huge mistake. When they brought it, it seemed suspicious to me, and as a result I got food poisoning. I will never go there again and I don’t recommend it to anyone.
This dinner was planned weeks in advance. The service was very slow upon arrival (I almost walked out). The carpaccio was tough although thinly sliced. The chicken picatta was dry and the sauce was more like "gravy" than the light in texture lemon caper butter sauce one would expect from such a classic dish. My creme brulee had the consistency of soup which had to be sent back. The "owner" was in the dinning room but NOT "present". All-in-all a complete waste of time and money and NO it was NOT cheap! 5 star prices with -1 star results. The owner ought to be ashamed of himself.
The atmosphere was alright except for the fruit flies flying everywhere... The food was cold and a bit overpriced. They had no turkey even though the Turkey was on the menu. The service was slow to be honest! The fillet mignon was undercooked contrary to what was ordered. The ravioli had to be sent back to be warmed up.
