A truly excellent restaurant...near the center of Turin, a very nice place with a manager who cooks excellent mixed fried fish and makes superb mussels...add the reasonable price and a fast, kind, and knowledgeable waitress, and the evening is complete. We highly recommend it. Maurizio and Claudia.
Went on Sunday with the whole family. The atmosphere was quiet (there were 8 of us with 2 strollers, so we were worried about causing any problems), but the owner was very helpful and kind, creating a corner for the little ones. Good food, good fish, fair prices. Worth mentioning is the excellent wine, sourced from Vinchio...a guarantee! We'll definitely be back.
Kind of great.
Great
I dined at this little restaurant on a Saturday evening. The setting is intimate, not overly elegant, and the atmosphere is serene. The menu's strong point is its seafood: the usual, more commercial fish and shellfish, with the addition of mixed seafood. The cuisine is very simple, allowing you to savor the true flavors of the main ingredients, with the added advantage of making the meal nutritious yet easily digestible. The staff is friendly. The service is quick. Prices are average.
A good little restaurant, it's a shame it's stuck in its old glories, in my opinion: the food is good, but the selection is minimal. The fish bones in the seafood bruschetta... a few dishes, good but nothing exceptional, small portions, very limited wine selection. We asked for a glass of prosecco, but they said they didn't have it, even though it was on the menu... well, that's a shame. And then the dessert: it's certainly not homemade, but it's very good. It's a shame it's frozen and recently thawed, and it's bad—guaranteed a stomach ache. Too bad. This place would have great potential with a bit of a kitchen renovation. Let's hope that happens.
I don't know how to describe the experience at this place. I could start with the mosquitoes—so many mosquitoes and nothing to fight them (a fan, a lamp, etc.). I could say that it's hot and you're melting, and there's no air conditioning. But the fried food was excellent, except for the frozen shrimp, which was excellent. The slice was bought at the supermarket, removed from the paper, and placed in the pan. A serious flaw is serving warm white wine in a seafood restaurant and not even having ice or anything to keep it chilled... except the kitchen fridge! It's a shame, because these small, easily fixable things can lead to losing customers. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful with our requests.
The service was excellent, the waitress was kind and friendly. The spaghetti with clams was soaked in oil, seemed reheated, barely edible. I tried the fried fish, but it wasn't fresh and was very tough. Maybe I had the wrong day.
There were four of us, Sunday lunchtime. The appetizers and first courses were slightly late, but normal. The taste was quite pleasant... then the disappointment: an hour's wait for the second courses, which, incidentally, at my request (I had to rush to an urgent appointment), arrived with the grilled shrimp half raw. Not to mention the other angry onlookers, a man who left after an hour and a half of waiting, an entire family huddled at the entrance (basically, we couldn't leave!), with small children and wives standing in the street waiting. Truly unprofessional, and a lot of sacrifice for the customers. It's not nice to ruin a relaxing Sunday like this.
We happened upon it by chance on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, simple, and intimate. The staff is truly exceptional: a skilled, friendly, fast, and knowledgeable waitress who knows how to advise and engage, and a truly motivated kitchen staff. The menu is just right for the size of the restaurant. The only downside, which, however, cannot be underestimated in a restaurant like this, is the quality of the ingredients. We happened to be dining on a Sunday, so I understand, for obvious reasons, that the fish is already two or three days old, but there are some things that simply cannot be compromised: the tuna was a few days old and, despite being cooked perfectly, it didn't hide its flavor, and the same goes for the mussels. The fried food was a bit greasy, but good. I hope I just had a bad night, and I'll definitely be back because the owners' good intentions deserved a second chance. After all, everyone has a bad night.
I'm echoing Paolo Botte's review I just read...we were one of the other tables!!! I confirm: embarrassing. I think it was the worst lunch in recent years... The girl in the dining room was very kind, and so was the man who served us the wine. But for the rest, completely unremarkable...
Embarrassing, to say the least. We ordered two spaghetti with clams. The reheated pasta was sticky, with salt added on top. I've never experienced anything like this. The good thing is that at least we laughed with other tables to lighten the mood.
