A lovely steak restaurant with great service. The staff a very knowledgeable. You are presented with a visual on the type of cuts offered and the options on the menu for it. We wanted a nice light red wine to go with steaks and left it up to the waiter to choose and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend going here if you love steak.

My wife and I visited Kyloe for the Sunday Roast. The vibe was cozy and relaxed. We had a window table with a great view of the Princes Street, which we enjoyed. The service was on point and the staff were friendly. In my view, it is important for a fine restaurant to not have an overwhelming atmosphere or give you a sense of pretentiousness. Kyloe did great in this regard. The roast was tasty and done just right. The sides were also well-presented and not submerged in fats, which some restaurants do. We pretty much enjoyed everything (sauces, Yorkshire pudding, blooming onion, etc). The dessert was particularly delicious. We liked the fact that the toffee was served separately so that you could adjust the level of sauce on the cake. My wife is very picky about dessert, and she said this is the best sticky toffee pudding I have had 😊 In the end, the staff were also kind enough to present us with complementary sweets for our special occasion.

Had a wonderful meal here on Tuesday. The service was exceptional. Attentive, warm knowledgeable staff who made us feel special. We were guided through the different cuts of meat and advised according to our tastes. We even had a choice of steak knife to choose! We had the sharing Côte de boeuf which was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth. The maple roasted carrots and bloomin onion were great accompaniments and everything was delicious. Then had an old fashioned made at the table which was a great experience. As we were staying at the Rutland we were given a 20% discount which was a real bonus A nice touch was when my husband was presented with a happy birthday in chocolate. I had been chatting with him during meal saying it was an early birthday present and the staff had obviously been paying attention. Finished off with complementary homemade sweets this was a truly memorable meal and occasion. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Edinburgh

I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We visited on a Sunday and were delighted to try their Sunday roast. The quality of the ingredients was immediately apparent—everything was fresh, and cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and juicy, complemented beautifully by the rich sides. What truly set this restaurant apart, however, was the staff. They were incredibly helpful and always greeted us with a warm smile, making us feel right at home. Their attentive service ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Definitely the best steak I have tried and coming from a meat lover that says a lot. I ordered the filet steak with garlic butter sauce and a side of roast potatoes. And wow believe me when I tell you the steak was perfectly cooked, soft but not chewy, potatoes crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Taste was perfect and texture was spot on. Additionally the service was great and atmosphere very lovely and cosy. Love this place!

An 11/10 restaurant. What a great experience we had in Kyloe! As soon as we were seated, we were given complimentary freshly baked focaccia and bread (both so yummy!). Our waiter (George) then came to the table and showed us the different cut of meat they were offering that night. George was so knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and gave us advice on what to choose based on our taste. We were akso given the option of choosing the knife we wanted for our steak (this was so new to me. It was actually quite cool). We had to wait a bit for the food, but it was so worth the wait! We ordered the 800g Porterhouse, the blooming onion, creamed spinach served inside a Yorkshire pudding, and 2 truffle and parmesan fries. The steak was so tender, juicy, full of flavour, I was in heaven! The sides were all amazing, but the blooming onion stole the scene, really! It was so crunchy, the bacon and the jam went so well with it. When we asked for the bill, we were given complimentary mini desserts, which were also very much delicious. We were very much surprised when we were told that the bill had been discounted due to the long wait to get the food, we were in shock! It was such a kind gesture, displaying an amazing service and customer care. As it's now time for us to get back home, I can honestly say that Kyloe is now one of our favourite restaurants ever! A particular thank you goes to our waiter George for making the whole experience incredible for us.

Wonderful staff, great food, awesome venue and atmosphere. Perfectly cooked steaks to your desired cook. The whiskey and cracked pepper sauce is delicious. And the cheesecake was delightful.

Tonight we had dinner at Kyloe. We were passing by and the menu caught our eye. After giving it a brief look on Google for reviews we decided to check it out. Louise was our first point of contact and she became our main waitress. She was gracious, friendly and warmly congratulated us on our recent marriage, we had just gotten married on The Isle of Skye a few days prior. She showed us two tables to sit at, they were fully booked so we were very glad that she found a spot for us. We had the oysters which were fresh, meaty and briny. Delicious! We also had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly, medium rare. For dessert we got the S’mores and Smoked Pineapple and Passion Fruit Meringue. Both were fantastic but the standout for us was the Smoked Pineapple! Completely took us by surprise that we favoured that one. Thank you, to you and your team for making this Canadian couple’s first dinner out in Edinburgh so memorable.

Went for Sunday roast and very happy we did. The staff was engaging, knowledgeable and kind. Food and wine was good. Steak cooked how we like amd all sides were great. I loved horseradish sauce. The toffee pudding was spectacular. Would go back anytime for a meal

Everything was amazing! The service was exceptional. They took the time to show and explain the meat choices. The food was stunning. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the caramelized corn mush was simply over the top.

Amazing Sunday roast! Every bite was perfect and the horseradish cream was such a great complement to the dinner. Service was friendly and I will definitely come again on my next visit to Edinburgh!

Wonderful restaurant. They present the steaks prior to cooking to inform you of the different cuts. They also present knives. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the fillet with garlic mash, carrots, and green beans. Everything was over the top delicious.

Great place, tasty food, professional service, nice atmosphere. It has everything, what makes a good restaurant. Very high quality meat, 6 different types of steak knives to choose from. We had a great time, and will definitely be back, when in Edinburgh next time.

Went to this steak place .the restaurant was very nice and clean, and the service was good. The team were friendly and welcoming. They even showed us the different types of steak and knives, which was a nice touch. The food was okay, but nothing special. I ordered my steak medium, but it came well done. I sent it back and they made a new one, which was better.Overall, it was fine, but for the price they charge, I was expecting something more impressive.

My partner booked the roast for my birthday, we had the rump steak. The food was gorgeous, the service was excellent and we had a lovely table with a great view too. Highly recommend coming here.

I spend my life traveling the world and have been fortunate enough to eat at some great places. The food here was very good. The quality of the produce was excellent. The staff were impeccable, and the wine was exceptionally good. Overall a fantastic experience and highly recommend recommended.

I had reason to celebrate, so I came to Kyloe for a solo lunch/dinner. Please note that this review was significantly delayed and my visit took place last summer (2024) so I am not sure if any changes have taken place since then. This spot was recommended to me by one of my colleagues and I can absolutely vouch for why! The space was very classy, the staff were professional, and since it was my first proper steak in many years (ex-vegan here!) the staff member waiting for my table was incredibly kind and informative about the different options. I came at a strange hour in-between typical lunch and dinner hours, so the place was rather empty, but that was fine for me; however, I'm sure the atmosphere is really nice in the evening and night times. The food was very tasty and beautifully served. The pricing was also very reasonable for what I got. I would come here again for sure. As a side note: the rest room was very clean and fresh, which is another big plus from me!

Simply exceptional grill restaurant conveniently located at one end of Princes Street. Every detail was perfect, right down to a choice of steak knives. The food was incredible, the best beef wellington I have ever had. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality was out of this world. Our host Monica was brilliant and a credit to the restaurant. Can't wait to come back!

Full respect to the chefs and whole team, thank you. Great food was very tasty, appreciate all little details on each plate. Very enjoyed today Christmas lunch. Nice choice of wine too.

We went for the beef wellington Sunday roast and it was delicious! Plenty for 2 people (we had 2 slices each) and unlimited sides. He were completely busted afterwards. The wine was lovely and service was fantastic.

My wife and I had a date night here a couple of months back. I fancied a nice steak and had heard good things about this spot. The venue is within the Rutland Hotel and open entering it feels very classy and modern with a club-like vibe. It is definitely on the high-end date night/special occasion and premium feel. The service was good. We were quickly greeted and we felt welcomed. One waiter came around with the selection of beef on the board and he talked about the provenance, working with respected farms and butchers. The man did stumble when he was describing the meat as I think he had a bit of a mind blank. We had another waiter throughout who was younger but very confident and excellent communicator and willing to have a chat despite the restaurant being so busy. The service speed was reasonable given the circumstances. We even got to choose what knife we wanted to eat our beef with. They had a selection of 4 or 5 which was a nice added touch. The menu includes classic steak cuts, sharing steaks, and “more unusual cuts” chosen for texture and flavour. Non-steak options: shellfish section, seasonal Scottish produce and there are some vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options. Every Sunday they offer a “table-carved” roast with bottomless trimmings. We opted for the Sirloin Special which was a sharing bone-in dairy cow sirloin which was fattier than your traditional cut of beef. This alone cost us 80 odd pound so we hoping that it was going to be delicious. I was hoping to get the blooming onion as a side but unfortunately their fryer was out of action. Instead for sides we got the maple roasted carrots, beef dripping chips, onion rings and the garlic roasted bone marrow. For sauces for got the chimichurri and the Béarnaise. Our meal was lovely. The meat was tender and cooked just right. The highlight for me was the carrots. Easily the best carrots I’ve ever had. Maybe that’s because they were drowned in maple syrup? The chips and onion rings were great. Although there weren’t many chips. The sauces were great and required for the meat because I felt that the sirloin was lacking a little flavour on its own. My wife’s favourite was the bone marrow. She couldn’t stop digging into that. For dessert we shared the s’mores which is not usually something that I would choose but this was delicious and a great way to end a lovely evening. Overall we had an enjoyable experience. Slightly disappointed that we went with the sirloin. It was nice but I feel we could’ve got something better and more flavourful (e.g. the ribeye). Unfortunately my wallet couldn’t handle regular visits here but I would like to try their Sunday roast.

Absolutely amazing meal and thoroughly enjoyed all the food. Had the chateaubriand, chicken dish and cauliflower steak. Steak was perfectly cooked and so soft, chicken very tender and surprised by how good the mash was! Staff were all very lovely and welcoming too. It is a bit pricey but I feel worth budgeting in and would definitely come again.

From 12pm to 4pm every Saturday, Kyloe invites diners to test their appetite against the grill. For £35 per person, you’re served plate after plate of 120g ribeye steak, golden chips, and a peppercorn sauce so silky it could double as velvet. The rules are simple: finish your plate, order another. No sharing, no wasting, no cheating. Just you, your fork, and the question, how many can you manage? On average, most diners settle comfortably at two plates each, a sweet spot where satisfaction meets sensibility. Two ribeyes, two rounds of chips, two generous pours of peppercorn sauce, and you’re happily full without feeling defeated. The Unlimited Steak Frites is the headline act. But sometimes, the supporting cast steals the spotlight. For us, it was the brûléed cream of sweetcorn. We couldn’t look past it on the menu, and thank goodness we didn’t. Arriving at the table, it’s brûléed right before your eyes, the sugar crust crackling under the flame. The result? A dish that’s both sweet and savoury, creamy and caramelised, indulgent yet delicate. I’ll go on record: bar the steak frites, this was possibly one of the best things I’ve eaten all year. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite, look at your dining companion, and say, “This. This is why we eat out.” The Steak Frites is so worth it and just downright fab. A Saturday ritual worth repeating!

We went for our office Christmas lunch and booked the private dining, it was amazing! We were looked after wonderfully, the room was stunning and the food was exceptional. We had a party of 11 people and the staff were perfectly accommodating and attentive. All of our food arrived together and no one was left waiting. Drinks were always topped up and filled and not once did we have to ask for anything to be changed. A special highlight to the hake, it was perfectly flaky and tasted fantastic. Everyone at the office loved it and would recommend and we all hope to book it again for next year.

Chic restaurant with a upscale, yet laid-back feel. Staff were so so friendly and lovely to interact with. We got the Beef Wellington Sunday Roast (requires reservation 48hr in advance) and it was to die for. Highly recommend this place! What a great way to spend Easter :)

Definitely worth the money. Steak was cooked perfectly, cocktails were great, and desserts were the perfect finish. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.

The food was amazing, and the staff was so helpful and explained how the meats work and what knives you should choose with the dish you chose. The atmosphere was great as well. The culinary experience was one of the best in edinburgh! I definitely do recommend visiting again in the future. The wine choice was extensive and they were tasty. I do recommend booking in advance to secure a table as it’s a high demand place. truly amazing, thank you!

Kyloe is a phenomenal steakhouse in Edinburgh Scotland! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent here! The food is top level across the board! Kyloe goes the extra mile with every detail. They offered an in-depth visual presentation of every cut of meat offered. They even showcased a selection of knives to choose from, which is something I've never seen offered despite dining at hundreds of restaurants around the world! The cowhide menus, beautiful table settings, and their complimentary treats presented with the check set them above and beyond! I also loved their music selection playing throughout the restaurant. Excellent service with attention to every aspect of this dining experience! They also have extremely reasonable pricing compared to what I'm used to paying for comparable meals back home in New York. A perfect meal, I couldn't be happier!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our Sunday roast. I found the service really friendly. The meat and the sides were very tasty. We would return. I would have liked the meat done more on the medium side, I feel it was verging on medium/well done. We had a really lovely meal and we were well taken care of! Sidenote - I didn’t like the mixed communal toilets, it was confusing for myself and two separate men who looked uncomfortable and questioned if they were in the right toilet when they seen me upon walking in. I believe mixed toilets should be roof to ceiling cubicles, if they must exist. But it does say there’s separate toilets for men and women downstairs which i’d prefer to use next time.

My girlfriend and I visited Kyloe for my birthday and we had an amazing experience from start to finish. Everything was perfect - the food was absolutely delicious and we couldn’t fault a single thing. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome without being overbearing. The atmosphere was fantastic and the steak was hands down the best we’ve had in Edinburgh. We’ll definitely be returning!

My husband and I chose Kyloe due to its close proximity to our hotel but we had no idea that we stumbled on a gem. Our waiter sat us at a window table with a great view. He had the best personality and made the meal memorable. The steak was hands down the best we have ever had and the waiter's recommendation of red wine & blue cheese sauce to pair was spot on. This restaurant cannot be skipped.

We had the sirloin cut for Sunday roast (4 people). Excellent service and experience! 1 portion of the sides were plenty for us, loved the food (especially the Yorkshire pudding). Easy to get to location and the service staff made it a fantastic meal. Remember to make a reservation online if you want the Sunday roast.

I returned here a short while ago with my partner for my birthday. The food and service was just as I remembered it. We arrived a little early and the table selected was still in use so the host offered to seat us in the bar area temporarily and get us started off with a drink - this very small wait was worth it as we got seated at a window table with a lovely view of Princes street. Shortly after being seated we selected our choice of steak knives and ordered, we opted to share the Taste of Hardiesmill which gives you 3 beautiful cuts of steak, alongise this we got beef dripping chips and the whisky and peppercorn sauce, all of which was cooked to perfection. For desert I chose the s'mores which was amazing. The staff also brought out a board with complimentary treats with it being my birthday which was a lovely touch. After being back for the second time I cannot recommend this place enough. It is expensive but for the quality of food and service you get, and as a treat for a big occasion it is well worth it.

We celebrated our anniversary here this week, and we had an amazing experience. The service from the moment we arrived until the moment we left was perfect. Our waitress (Elana) was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Our food was delicious and the Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary!

The food and the dining experience here are excellent! The waitress carefully explained to us different cuts of beef, and also showed us different types of knife to choose from. We ordered Porterhouse for sharing. Besides meat, the Signature Side Dishes - Corn Brûlée and Creamed Spinach Yorkie; and the Crispy Oysters are also nice surprises. Everything was seasoned to taste. Also love the Whisky and Peppercorn sauce!

BEST RESTAURANT & STEAK OF MY LIFE. The difference between eating and DINING is here. Food: Ox cheek croquettes while we waited were delicious. Full of flavour with a fantastic sauce and FRESH veg garnish. I ordered the off menu Ribeye (med rare) special with redwine and blue cheese sauce. The steak was HEAVENLY, my eyes rolled. The sauce was incredible. My brother in law had the fillet with garlic butter amd chips. Quote of his meal was "they are just chips, how are they that good" I ordered the corn brulee, which is prepared at your table side. The whole experience was amazing as was the taste. Staff: All very friendly, polite, attentive, efficient and professional. 10/10 experience can't wait to visit Edinburgh again.

As a good Italian eater, it was one of my favorite and good places I have ever eaten in my life! From the various starters to the main courses, it was an explosion of taste and flavor, combined with excellent service! Clean location and very well cared for in the smallest details, with tables not too close to each other, thus ensuring the right privacy and confidentiality, a really good level of music, both for the very chill playlist, and for the volume of it, really well managed! Overall, I repeat, one of the places where I have eaten best in my life!

Had my best steak ever here. >60 day dry aged Scottish cote du boeuf was absolutely delicious. The accompanying full body wine, with two types of fries and the chefs onion were the cherries on top. Be aware that this quality has its price however..

Had a gorgeous dinner at Kyloe on Saturday. We received a genuine welcome. Staff were all very personable and provided great hospitality and service which is rare these days. We went all in on our main course and ordered their Porterhouse after being explained about the different cuts and textures. I particularly enjoyed being able to choose my own steak knife which my partner and I enjoyed debating. I’m still thinking about the creamed spinach and the whisky and peppercorn sauce!

Absolutely delicious — probably the best meat I’ve had in my life. The staff are incredibly friendly, it feels like you’re visiting old friends who are genuinely happy to see you. The appetizers, sides, and sauces were also an 11 out of 10. The restaurant and its team truly deserve the highest rating!

A very fancy steak house with very good steaks. Clean, comfortable with great views. Not a fan of the ala carte because your just not sure how to pair the food. It was pricey but don't break the bank.

Kyloe is a popular and well-established steak house in Edinburgh's West End, which I visited mid-week with friends to take advantage of their January 50% off food promotion. It’s a stunning restaurant, with comfortable seating designed for relaxed dining. The USB table lights add nicely to the ambience and a nice vibe. Service was a standout throughout – attentive, polite and clearly well-trained staff who are on top of their game. Before taking our order, our waiter brought out a selection of steaks on a wooden board and talked us through the different cuts, ageing processes and the steaks included in the offer. This was genuinely helpful. I’d originally planned to order the ribeye, but seeing it in the flesh, it looked a little too fatty and difficult to justify at £45 compared with the other options. We skipped the starters and enjoyed the complimentary bread and butter before the main courses. I opted for a sirloin steak (£39) medium rare with king prawns (three for £8) in a garlic butter and hand-cut skin-on chips (£6). The steak was cooked as requested and full of flavour, although it arrived warm rather than piping hot. I’d also hoped for a couple more prawns, and my definition of “king-sized” clearly differs from Kyloe’s, though they were pleasant enough. The chips, however, were excellent – well-seasoned and properly cooked. We shared a bowl of mushrooms, which were delicious and easily the highlight among the side dishes. One issue did jar slightly. A 10% discretionary service charge was calculated on the full menu price before the 50% discount was applied. At best, this is misleading and certainly not how most diners would reasonably expect a promotional offer to work. We queried it, ignored the calculation and paid what we felt was fair, including a 10% service charge based on the discounted food price. Another surprise was the unisex toilets (cubicles only, no urinals). Some of the women in our group commented that it was obvious men had been using them, judging by the state they were left in. While no one raised a formal objection, it wasn’t especially impressive and may simply be a logistical compromise. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. At £45 all-in, including two pints (£6.70 each) and a 10% service charge, it felt like good value on the promotion. Would I pay full price? Initially, I thought yes but with hindsight, probably not. The jury’s still out on that one.

p

We all had the ribeye. Steak was excellent. My steak was quite medium then whole way through but I was still brilliant. The carrots were on another level. For £7.50 there definitely worth it. And there Guinness was a 8.5/10 a very good pint. Best I've had in a while. Also keep an eye out for the clock above the Johnny walker shop with the pipers. We couldn't quite figure out the timings of it though.

K

Nice environment but really bad steak … steak is cold and hard! Really surprised with such standard of steak in Scotland! We gave the feedback and Kyloe management is nice enough to give a 25% discount, but honestly wouldn’t go back.

We were quite disappointed with our Sunday Roast at Kyloe Restaurant & Grill. We ordered the 500g Rump Roast for two, which comes with unlimited sides and a sticky toffee pudding. Based on the reviews, we expected much more from this place. Unfortunately, it’s not a great sign for a steak restaurant when the best part of the Sunday Roast is the dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but the meat itself was quite dry, and some pieces were hard to chew. The sides were unlimited, but fairly tasteless. It was our first Sunday Roast experience, but we can’t help feeling that it could, and should have been much better, especially considering the restaurant’s reputation.

This was a Special treat for my 92 year old father. We were extremely disappointed with the food we received from The Market menu. My father and i chose the beef shin/ Yorkshire pudding starter which was very dry and tasteless. The sauce/ gravy was of a bitter taste and the Yorkshire pudding very dry. My partner's Monkfish scampi was also bland. We all decided to get the steak frites for our main course. Again, this was very disappointing as the meat was tough and difficult to cut even with the serrated steak knife. The fries were a tad too greasy and pepper sauce was very creamy and quite sickly. We know it is a market menu so the steak is thinner however we were expecting more given this is renowned steak restaurant. We planned to come back in December to sample the A la carte menu however given our experience with the market menu we would be a bit hesitant if it included the same sauces and problems cutting through a more expensive cut of meat. We didn't mention anything at the time as we didn't want to spoil the occasion for my father however as you have asked for a review of our experience we thought we would be honest. On a postive note, the lovely staff were first class in terms of their knowledge of the different cuts of meat, helping my father to the lift, being very attentive and friendly and giving a small birthday treat of some fudge which was a lovely touch. The surroundings are also beautiful.

We dined at Kyloe recently and were disappointed in what was previously a decent steak house. We used the 50% off January food offer whilst dining which took the sting off the experience somewhat. The starters are excellent. Comfortably the best thing on the menu. The pithivier and scampi were both delicious. It was all let down when we made it to the steak sadly. We had read a few reviews prior about poor/under cooking of the steak so we deliberately ordered our rib-eye's medium, even though we like them medium-rare. They came not rare, but raw. Cold in the centre. If they had touched the grill for seconds, I wouldn't have been surprised. Sent them back and asked for them to be cooked more. New steaks returned (We'd have been fine with just cooking ours more) and the chef clearly didn't trust his cooking and had cut into them to check the doneness. Have we not heard of meat thermometers in 2026 folks?! The staff kindly did bring new sides to go with our steaks however. I want to mention the elephant in the room.. The price... Truthfully, we would no longer come here without the 50% discount. The price/experience value has been lost at Kyloe sadly. £45 for a 275g rib-eye, is unjustifiable. It used to come with a side and a sauce (Maybe a year ago admittedly) but for just the steak, it's extremely expensive. Hawksmoor as standard is £40 for 350g or £49 for 450g of rib-eye. It's a shame because over the last 4-5 visits we have enjoyed our experience, but I can't stomach the full cost anymore to return when the steak might come out poorly cooked. I'll stick with Hawksmoor.

Nice place and concept. Steak was good and rather quick. They use smoke on the desserts and I think we must have been unlucky, we shared a dessert but barely got into it because it overwhelmingly tasted of smoke, made us both nauseous - might’ve been where it was applied in. Also realised afterwards we paid a £10 deposit that wasn’t removed from the bill. Friendly staff.
