Nice place. Good food. Very nice service. I stopped there all the time
The place was very clean and appeared to be recently remodeled. Great food and a fun atmosphere.
💯👍👍 place is great. Small out of the way the small little dinky town. Great place to visit to eat food. The chips and dip were good and they make their own chips
Food was great and the friendly staff. Good hospitality. Ice coffee in the hot desert was so refreshing. They treat their customers well. Would definitely recommed this cafe to anyone those visiting Death Valley.
Update: Updated the Service to 5 stars. A new server makes all the difference! I wish I know the lady's name, she was really really nice! --- Service is poor, but the cook is awesome! He came out and took our order, and started on it before the waitress ever got around to us. Still, good food. Would recommend.
Cool place of course in the middle of nowhere except adjacent to various hot springs. But the people running it 5/3/25 were on point, with laid back but attentive service. The woman let us sit where we wanted, broght drink refills without asking, had menu recs and even broke us into 4 checks. The nachos I got were crazy huge. I saw a guy walking in eating them, but he was 1/2 way through so I assume I got 1 layer. No. Nachoes are 2 layers of full quesedilla-sized tortillas, fried into 1 large chip, loaded with ground beef and toppings. Pretty killer, of course I couldn't finish them. Anways, solid place that reflects the people running it.
On a road trip from Las Vegas to San Diego (big drive), myself and my friends pulled in for some much needed lunch. Safe to say Jake was more than friendly and the food was excellent! The club sandwich was more than filling, with the fries being very tasty too. A pleasing visit to a welcoming restaurant. Five stars please
Was there in August. Good food. Nice and friendly people. Top!
Super friendly staff, great little place and the food was delicious.
Wife and I flew to Shoshone from Las Vegas. Landing strip is about a 5 minute walk to the Crow Bar. I have now been there twice, once for breakfast, once for lunch. Food was great both times. Service was friendly and quick. The menu has a good selection of comfort foods, perfect for a stop on a road trip.
Been here twice. I've met British, German and Italian travelers , extreme locals and all around great people
Great service and staff. It's also a great jewel in the desert of history. Every thing is so well preserved in time I feel like I'm a pickled egg looking out of the jar, that is sitting on the counter, of a busy railway stop perfectly stuck in the 1940's time frame. Enjoyed the stop and little town.
Awesome place. Our server (Lily) was attentive. Whoever was cooking was awesome - great food and food was quick to get to us although there were lots of diners. We had a BLT and a burger, both were very good and cooked perfectly. Came with hand cut fries that were also delicious. Go to the museum next door when finished another great treat!
We went to this cafe today for the first time. Cheeseburger and fries delicious. Cute and clean comfy. Must try. Also visit the cute little store across the street lots of cute stuff. Grab a bag of popcorn.
Really good food (and reasonably priced given how large the portions are). Far better than anything you’d find in Baker!
What a great experience! After a long day visiting the death valley we stopped at the crowbar cafe to grab something to eat, not expecting a lot from a small restaurant. Happy to say we were wrong! The place has such a great vibe. It was not crowded and the waitress was so nice and funny. I ordered the vegetable burrito. Best one I ate so far.
What a sweet little joint for a couple of eggs, toast and coffee. After a slog from the heart of Death Valley is was a welcome site! The waitress was attentive and I had to go back into the kitchen and pay the cook our appreciation. 🙂!
The food was great, we were even with two vegetarians! Our server was Bianca and I have never enjoyed someone so much. My only wish was that she was sitting down and hanging out with us. Amazing service, great food, in a town of 14! I want this spot to become a tradition.
After spending a week overlanding in death valley this place was a sight for sore and weary eyes. The food was amazing, the staff was some of the friendlies I've ever encountered and even spent a few minutes talking to the cook and getting some history of the place. I am just as eager to come back here and eat as I am to go back to death valley.
This is such an awesome place to grab some food and get out of the heat. Incredible food, awesome service. Will make this a regular stop.
I had such a great time, largely thanks to Bianca! She provided excellent service and was incredibly informative about the Shoshone area, which I really appreciated. Her kindness and sweet personality made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back soon! Thank you, Bianca!
Wow, what a find! I drive through this area just once a year but I will tell you this, I'll be stopping here EVERY time I come through. Frijoles (refried beans) were unique and very good. So was their own salsa, which topped a great beef taco - not salty or over spiced, plenty of tomato & lettuce. And the pair of enchiladas was awesome! Can't wait to stop back.
Bianca was an excellent server, helping us realize that customer service is not dead. Had a club sandwich and some excellent french fries with a couple beers in frosty mugs. Life is good. Very quality food, a very pleasant surprise.
We stopped over here on out way to Death Valley. The lady who waited on us was really friendly, and the clientele inside the saloon were likewise. I saw someone had complained in the reviews that they were an ethic minority and got discriminated, I would ignore that review as I am obviously not white but they were lovely to me. I guess the other person is just a disgruntled, impatient, and maybe a little entitled, too happy to label things as discrimination when not getting their way.. This is a local place and you have to wait your turn. I ordered chicken sandwich and it was good. The chocolate cake was also lovely. Stop if it falls on your way, won't disappoint.
For me, it is conveniently located only 30 minutes from my new residence in Pahrump. It is located in California and is a very small town called Shoshone. Rode my motorcycle. There was a wonderful ride, I stopped at the crowbar and enjoyed one of their famous cheeseburgers. Very lovely. Great service!!!!
This restaurant just saved our life. On the way to LA from Vegas we travelled to Death Valley. We were looking for restaurant in the late afternoon and this came as a saver. Awesome food, amazing people serving there. Loads of history associated with this place. There is a museum to look out for. Definitely a vintage feeling. Worth stopping by.
Quaint restaurant with friendly service. Nice stop for lunch or brunch on the way to Furnace Creek in Death Valley.
I got to come here while on a visit to Nevada near this area. This is a nice place and I got to enjoy a root beer to cool me down while driving through the desert in this area. I had a short but great time here. Seemed clean and the staff member was very friendly. Glad I stopped here and got to look at the displays outside before I left. Check this place out when you are near this area.
Food was great and the staff was awesome. Had local beer on tap and loved their chicken wings.
Stopped in for a quick bite when heading out of Death Valley. Probably the freshest salad I had in a few days hopping across DVNP restaurants. The place has a historical old saloon feel, probably because it is for all intents and purposes the same building as the first settlers built it. Over and above, the people running the place are friendly and polite. 5/5!
This place is terrific!! Incredible service and wonderful food! Fries from REAL potatoes! So wonderful! The service was excellent and the decor is amazing. Highly recommend stopping in for a meal!
I was extremely impressed by the service, food and atmosphere here. The staff was helpful and fast. The food was absolutely amazing. A trip to Death Valley isn't complete without a stop here!
Best fries anywhere ever! Burgers, wings and pies are great too. Plus rootbeer floats with local made root beer. 10/10!
Stopped here hungrily for a late lunch with my family, following some post exploring at Death Valley. Understood there weren’t many options in the stretch down to Tecopa, but knew this would most likely be our most promising stop, and WOW - we are so glad we did. Shout out to Michelle who was so attentive, thoughtful and charming! We truly enjoyed our spread … what we thought would be a simple chips & salsa for the group to casually share was a beautiful basket of these giant sized, warm & crispy tortilla chips and a serving of their signature cactus salsa - SO GOOD! House-made chili = So comforting and flavorful - a must order! Burgers and enchiladas were prepared super well = DEVOURED! Michelle even sent us off with a fresh to-go cup of iced coffee for the road. As a couple of chefs, we can appreciate a really good meal and this checked off all the markings of a special spot that cares about the all-around experience, from the delicious food to the wonderful service. Truly lovely and one of the highlights of our little family trip. Thanks y’all!
We discovered Crowbar Cafe while traveling to Death Valley since it happened to be open late. We liked the food and staff so much we came back the next day. Staff is very friendly and make you feel very welcomed. Food and bar are great too. It's a little gem in the most unexpected place.
Honestly, we were so thankful that we came to this place! It is fascinating with so much history and an old style American saloon inside with incredible decor. Our waitress, Brianna, deserves a shout out for being so fantastic, warm & approachable. We were concerned about our food allergies but she was reassuring and made us feel at ease when ordering. The chef was also super friendly. We were the only customers in here so it felt like a really personal experience which was really nice. The food was delicious and portion sizes very generous so make sure you’re hungry when you visit! Definitely worth a stop if you’re driving through (or staying at) Shoshone on your way in or out of Death Valley National Park. You won’t be disappointed at all. If we ever come to this side of the world again, we will be sure to stop here. Thanks so much for a great evening.
Certainly make it a point to stop by Crowbar Cafe if you are anywhere in the area- granted, restaurant options are very limited in Shoshone or Death Valley, but regardless this is a great destination in itself. This place oozes Western ambience, charm, and history; they have an incredible outdoor seating area hemmed in by historic buildings that looks like it hosts wonderful live music/similar events in the evenings. The food menu is the basic American fare you'd expect (I would think most come here for drinking anyways) - it definitely didn't disappoint though. Crowbar has one of the best reubens I have ever tried. The portions were very generous and the prices here are reasonable especially considering how remote it is. Additionally, the service here was excellent. Definitely be sure to stop on by!
An oasis after driving from Death Valley National Park to Joshua Tree. We had been driving for an hour in the dark, not really sure when we would hit a town when we came across this great place. The staff was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. Fun atmosphere and good food. A great find in literally the middle of nowhere.
Let me just say, this place is AWESOME! Definitely a must stop especially if you're passing through on your way into Death Valley. The food here is excellent, the service even better and super friendly and what can I say, they have beer, whiskey and more at the bar! While they do have a cafe style restaurant section on the north side of the building, we chose to dine and imbibe on the saloon side and at the bar and mainly because it's way more fun. On our last visit, my wife got their grilled cheese sandwich, our friends got a cheese burger and I got a BLT that was outstanding. I mean really, the bacon was cooked perfectly and it was simply delicious. While I got potato salad that was just as good, everyone else got fries which were nice and hot out of the frier and we had a Stella to wash it all down. Of course, the atmosphere of the place is exactly what you'd expect to find out in the desert and it's perfect. And, I should note that they made some nice improvements to the inside since our last visit about a year ago and even the restrooms have been updated. I would highly recommend you visit this establishment if only to see how cool it is. Be sure to read up on the history of this place and check out all the cool stuff outside as well.
We stopped here for a quick beer break and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The restrooms were spotless, which was a nice bonus during a road trip. It’s a great little stop to refresh, relax before continuing our journey. Simple, clean, and convenient — exactly what we were looking for.
It’s wonderful you can find this amazing Gem in middle of this dessert! We stopped here for our brunch and these are genuine hardworking amazing people ❤️✨ we were so grateful! Food was amazing, lady who served us was a wonderful soul. They are Ofcourse understaffed but she did best she could and we appreciate every bit of it. See beautiful pictures below! Food was SO AMAZING we just went in- didn’t even click picture of that beautiful presentation! But see everything else below :)
Stopped there a few times for breakfast, Spanish omlette is my favorite
Ate Brunch and dinner here as they are pretty much the only place around open. Waitress was friendly food was good...the iced tea was great ..being brewed fresh right then. All the food we ordered both times was good....but the nachos omg...the nachos. Truly enjoyed them, they were puffy and oh so crispy.
If you’re visiting Shoshone passing through on the way to Death Valley, or making this delightful community a destination, give the Crowbar Café and Saloon a try. The food is genuine California desert cuisine from a local restaurant with character and charm. The menu is basic American café with southwest additions. There are local breweries with beers on tap. Be sure to visit the museum next-door to get the full flavor of the community. This is a fun small town place to dine.
A very small time feel diner. I walked in the cafe and was greeted with friendly service. I had the cheese burger and coleslaw. The burger and juicy, buns toasted just right. Coleslaw was fine. They have free Wi-Fi here -- huge life saver because I had both T-Mobile and Verizon, and neither of them had coverage in Shoshone. I'd say the prices are where I'd expect for a small business. Definitely a good spot to eat while your electric car charges next door.
I love these roadside cafés. It’s where you usually find the friendliest people in the best food. My first visit was for dinner and I got to say I was disappointed in the ribeye steak. Returning the next morning for breakfast was a much better experience. The food is plentiful. The coffee keeps coming and the price is very reasonable. If you have occasion to stop there, don’t forget to pay a visit to the museum right next-door.
Nothing bad but nothing great! We ordered salmon with Mexican rice and a hamburger. The rice was too wet, and both the salmon and burger patty were too dry. But on the bright side, the beer was great! There was plenty of tea and honey too. If you see this review, please come over for dinner or prep your food before entering the area. It was super windy at night, and we couldn’t even camp outside. Thank goodness for our laziness!!
This one house town has a cute antique gas station, an inn and the Crowbar restaurant which has an Authentic atmosphere. Food is passable faire, not exceptional in any eay. Main problem is the management and workers act like their is no other option but them, show and sassy with an attitude. If this place was in a real town with competition, it would be out if business and frequented only by those whom might enjoy being treated poorly and payiny for it.
VERY expensive for what you get. Food’s barely adequate and definitely not special and the service is slow. Captive audience as it's the only restaurant hereabouts
We came here, pretty hungry, after spending the day in Death Valley. Call this a captive audience meal as you don't have much to choose from in the desert! After a couple of expensive Coor's Lights, I had the dinner salad (good) and the Rattlesnake Chili (bad). Was hoping for something with a kick or spice level, but it tasted like canned chili from Dollar Tree. Really not good. Avoid. Her Fish Tacos were decent so you may want to pick and choose. Our server, Rachel, was new and couldn't really help us out on the menu. Hey, gas station across the street and a bag of chips saved me in the end!
Was staying at local hot spring resort nearby & Area has limited food choices. Placed the order of a Club burger and Double cheeseburger with fries over the phone. Order was ready on time. No Condiments for burgers were placed in bag as promised over the phone so be sure to double check your takeout order. Fries tasted like they have been marinating in a bowl of grease all day, instant regret of not having ordered coleslaw instead. Both burgers lacked the condiments so it was bare buns. Meat patty was bland, paid an extra $5.50 for the extra patty in the double. Overall, one and done eating experience. I'll drive a little further for better eats next time I visit.
sorry, but planned to take dinner and a couple of beers. We have a small campervan and wanted to spend the night at a public recreation place behind the restaurant. Then there came a lady in a blue car from Shoshone and explained that there is no camping allowed in the village and we should go 5 miles further outside. So, sorry we did not spend any Ct here. You should think about to manage tourism and making money
Waited over 45 mins for bland overpriced food. Terrible service, would not recommend.
Food safety issue. Keep driving. You literally need razor sharp teeth to bite into a Reuben. The meat was like trying to bite into a leather belt and not edible. The slices of meat were mostly fat. It went straight to the trashcan. The french fries, while freshly cut, were cold and limp when served. The Club Burger tasted like a frozen patty and didn't have bacon on it, which is what they advertised in their menu. The potato salad had way too many onions in it. Not my jam. The staff seemed frazzled and overworked, and the kitchen was slow to make orders. I was told 20 to 25 minutes for a takeout and it was over 45 minutes before my food was served. I ordered straight off the menu, no special requests.
My poor friend has been vomiting all night with food poisoning and both of our dishes were massively undercooked. I couldn't finish my fish because it was clearly dangerous. We weren't offered any reduction of our bill when we complained to the waitress, and when my friend was being terribly sick in their bathroom I had to pursue higher management to finally adjust the bill. However they did finally give us a reduction. Yet, my friend is still throwing up violently and I feel so sorry for taking him here.
One of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant. Service was atrocious. Waited over an hour for our food. Having a big top table does not mean you can ignore your other customers. When I asked for something taken off the order I was talked down to and told everyone is waiting for food, my server is new and doing a great job. Then why did she have to take our drink order twice?
We were at this restaurant yesterday. Came in and waitress was not very nice from the beginning. Wife ordered nachos, cheese and chips only. They came out with onions and waiters caught it and took it back before even setting it on table. Shortly after the plate came back and there were still onions on it. Wife sent it back and I watched three grown adults with no gloves trying to pick the onions off the nachos to send back. I had to tell them that we would prefer a new plate. Place was very expensive, food was subpar, and after watching them pick through the nachos I wouldn’t recommend this place to a dog. Stay far away.
