Perfect! I had the surf and turf. It was Amazing! That was the most perfectly cooked piece of beef I have Ever had in a restaurant. The filet had the smooth buttery texture of filet, with the incredible flavor of a rib eye. It was truly Perfect. The menu says 5oz tail; it came with a 10oz tail.

Great food and service. The sea bass sandwich was exceptional. The artichoke appetizer was delicious and just fantastic. The server was very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the food, the service and atmosphere

One of my favorite places to dine. They have great food and beers. They also have an awesome Sunday Brunch which includes an alcoholic drink! My favorute dishes here are: 1. Ribeye Steak. I would order this with Cream of corn and roasted bacon brussel sprouts. 2. Miso Chilean Sea Bass. I would get this on a bed of mash potaoes and wild mushrooms. 3. Claims in butter sauce as an appetizer. I dip their awesome bread in the pan of juices. 4. Oysters on a half shell. 5. Wedge salad with extra bacon 6. Blacken Mahi Mahi with wild mushrooms and crab lump tostada! This place has a great vibe and great food. A must try.

We had three different dishes and we loved all of them. I really recommend the cioppino and the lobster roll. Customer service was excellent!

Excellent customer service. Wait times for a table average about an hour, I believe this is due to COVID-19 and the need for distancing and smaller capacity. The bar area is open with full service... we enjoyed ourselves!

Great food and vibes! Good for bday or anniversary celebrations. Would recommend their ribeye or linguine. Sea bass was good as well but a bit pricey. Delicious creme brulee dessert!

Had a lovely meal tonight. Our servers were on top of everything, getting us anything we needed, and not rushing us in any way. The food was prepared very well, tasty and spicy without being salty. The scallops were perfect...so tender, and the steak was melt in your mouth tender. Two of us shared a plate and there was still enough left over to take home. Of course it is beautifully decorated for Christmas, which adds to the overall enjoyment. The prices seemed very reasonable considering how everywhere else prices have skyrocketed. I've been coming here since it opened and glad to see it remains a perfect place for a lovely meal.

I made reservations, and I got excellent sitting in a booth and was able to share a wonderful meal that evening with good friends. I look forward to going back to Tapps The food was great and service was impeccable.

Went for New Year eve dinner to TAPs Brea. The covered parking is free here. We were seated and had a great sever named Brandie. We were 6 in our party and this was the best most enjoyable dinner we had. The dinner inters were super delicious. The soup , salads, the steaks, fish were all fresh and tasty. The deserts were awesome. Loved the service from Brandie.

I was in the bar area. Ample room, open floor plan. Service was good, had a couple people checking in on us which kept drinks flowing, food coming and a lot of laughter. Staff is great! We had fish and chips which were okay. Nothing out of this world but they were good, well cooked and hot. Sandwiches are huge, also had a cheese platter which you can see disappeared a few minutes after touching down out table.

Great place for a date! The beer and wine selection is good but the food is GREAT! There are four sections to sit at. One a nice cozy eating area with tables and booths. Quiet area to enjoy a nice meal with a loved one or business meeting. The second is an oyster bar. I’ve never sat there but with the right group looks like it would be fun. The third area is the bar sports area. There is a bar to sit at and watch the TVs. There are also large tables in this area that can accommodate large groups. The last area is the patio. There is a fire place you can sit next to and great ambient lighting to make you feel all cozy. All in all a great place to come and enjoy food and great company. Be prepared to spend some $$$ but it’s worth it!

This place has great food and a variety of different seating areas. I have loved pretty much eveything we've ordered. The crab cakes are delicious. The calamari breading was perfect, the breading was crispy but calamari still tender. The fish and chips are some of the best ever. The LOBSTER BISQUE is absolutely delicious. It is my favorite, creamy and smooth with a great flavor. You can even use the bisque as a dip for the bread and it just melts in your mouth. I splurged this last visit and got the King Crab special which came with soup/salad, garlic mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and even a delicious chocolate souffle. It was big enough to share and I even had leftovers. I personally wouldn't order the oysters rockefeller again, they were OK but nothing spectacular. The taps special role was surprisingly delicious! I will definitely order next time, which is surprising because I love sushi but never order it unless I'm at a Sushi restaurant. But the roll had amazing flavor and texture. My first time here we sat in the outdoor patio during lunchtime which I love. Most recently we sat indoor towards the back. The chairs were super comfy! This is a nice restaurant so they are pricey. You can also go during lunch and get some great lunch specials. I have been twice and have grown to love them each time even more.

One of OC's treasures. Carefully selected menu that caters to even the most discriminating taste. No need to book a ticket to New Orleans for their cuisine, or fly ro San Francisco for cioppino. Amazing Chilean sea bass. They also serve the best burgers.

This is a great eatery and brewery! They have a delicious Sunday Bruch! A little bit on the pricey side but bottomless mimosas and all the cravings you could have! Omelet station, Meat station with Prime Rib, Tri Tip and Pork, Taco Station, Seafood, all the dessert fixings including a fondue. Satify your hunger! The service is also second to none. Servers are all friendly and accommodating. Only downside is it is on the pricey side with $55/adult and $15/child. But in my book still worth it! Great place for Sunday Brunch with family or friends! Great ambiance and service!

We have been regular customers at Taps for years! They have been consistently good, the kitchen staff works very hard and not to mention the people on the floor. Luis is our favorite server and he is always professional, takes the time to get to know our family and is consistently exceptional with customer service. You can tell everyone works hard. My favorite is their variety of seasonal fresh fish, they have by far the best Sea Bass. I've traveled around the world and TAPS is still by far serves the best Sea bass. I like that TAPS tries to change their menu around and offer a variety for everyone. Overall worth the money.

We saw a recommendation for their Maine Crab Cakes. We had to do somethimg for our 49th anniversary. We decided that a 49th Avviv gift to ourselves was to go back at least 2 more times. Before I end - they brew phenomimal beer. My wife had a cosmos that she declared exquisite. For their elegance - the prices are very moderate. 5 STARS!

This place is always great. Food is amazing, service is always on point. The drink selection is good, the old fashioned with the blood orange ice cube was great! Nice wine list. Definitely a downsized menu after covid but still great. Nice location with easy parking too.

Food excellent. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff. Jambalaya was really tasty. Great beer and wine selection. Wife said she could have made a meal of the Green Goddess Salad alone! Great place all around; we will be back soon.

The place is always busier than the staff can handle. The wait is well worth the taste of the food. The Lobster Roll and Crab Stuffed Mushrooms are amazing. The beer is fresh and cold. They have outside dining by the fireside as well. Not sure how the Oyster Bar works there.

My husband and I have been dining at TAPS for over a decade. We've never had an unpleasant experience. Tonight we had a great meal with some friends. Our server Jorge went above and beyond, he did an excellent job. I had the spaghetti and meatballs ( newer addition), my husband had sushi, one of our friends had the Norwegian Halibut, and the other had the Miso marinated Chilean Sea Bass (this is a must try). For starters we had grilled artichoke and the house made pretzel. Wine, beer, and excellent food/experience.

Always a great time. Management is always super nice. Came for our wedding anniversary tonight and instead of having us wait a long time for a table we got drinks and an appetizer on the house. Like every year they end the night with a little desert saying happy anniversary. Even though I never expect them to do it it never fails. Great experience every time and great food.

I went to Taps last night for a friends birthday celebration and it was amazing. Mostly because of the service from our fabulous server, Lindsay! She was amazing! Very professional with the ability to personally answer multiple questions and requests being flung at her from our large party. Yet she genuinely seemed to like us and she put up with us with a big smile the entire time. She was patient and kind she was never stressed even though I’d say we were a stressful bunch to deal with, lol. She was fast and efficient and always gave us her full attention as if we were her only table. The food was great and the kitchen staff must run very efficiently too as we never had to wait long. The ambiance was really great too. I like this place and can’t wait to try the brunch Lindsay told us about. I only hope we get Lindsay again next time I come to Taps!

1st time coming here and definitely will not be the last! The food portions were very generous, customer service was 10/10 and the country potatoes were perfectly crisp as well. Thanks to all the great people at TAPS for a great 2021 Thanksgiving buffet. The selections were great and the team did a great job in keeping everything going on such a busy holiday. Our waitress and support team were great and provided great service. This was our first Thanksgiving dinner there (been going there since they opened) and we were not disappointed. Congrats to the team, great job and Thank you!

Taps continues to be one of my favorite spots for brunch with friends. It's a warm, welcoming environment & the food is consistently top-notch. I do not go to brunch buffets, however my wife and I met friends there. My motto with respect to dining is I would rather have an excellent that is appropriately sized than a lot of decent food. That said,Taps was great for buffet food. I would do it again and for me, thats saying a lot

M

I had not been there on many months and the food had gone from good to excellent. We both ordered seafood dishes (crab/salmon,), and they were both done to perfection. The staff was friendly and the restaurant had taken steps to insure safety. Not inexpensive, but it also provides a nice atmosphere, and a choice of eating inside of outside

Our server mark was amazing. My family and I have never had such great service accompanied by a welcoming and comfortable ambiance. Overall the experience was exquisite. I would recommend this to any family looking for a wonderful Sunday brunch. Make sure you ask for mark though, it wouldn't be the same without him!

Update 2/28/22....new menu alert! Lots of changes. My family eats here 1x a week so its a big change. Great food and service. I always order the fish and chips but fish sautéed instead of breaded. My dad loves the cioppino, my mom and siblings love the clams. Happy hour is great too!

Really beautiful exterior outside dining. Lunch was at 4 pm for us. Recommend earlier dining, as it was getting chilly outside. Had the Irish red, Tap burger (medium rare) with fries. Really tasty! Parking was super easy at the parking structure...but I got winded from walking. I'm not as fit as I once was. Things to keep in mind, though!

My dad and I decided to stop in for his birthday dinner. The first thing I noticed was the sheer size of this massive brew house, it was very impressive. We immediately sat at the bar because we wanted the opportunity to try their beers house-brewed, which we’d heard were fantastic. I tried the Bohemian Tapsody and the Cream Ale which were both great beers. Now I’m vegan, and knowing that TAPS is a “fish house”, I figured there weren’t going to be too many options available to me. However, I asked our bartender Gabriel if there were any options that he could suggest. He then went to the kitchen and came back with a terrific vegan meal just for me! I was so appreciative that he would be willing to ask for a custom meal, and all with a smile and a “my pleasure.” It was such a cool place with an awesome atmosphere. And to top off my already over-the-moon opinion I have about this restaurant, I also mentioned briefly that it was my dad’s birthday, and for our dessert, they wrote out “happy birthday” in chocolate syrup for my dad to enjoy. Outstanding, guys! I will always come back!

This is the best brewery place and I got to admit that the party room was the best place to dine in where my family came to honor me since I graduated from La Serna High School on June 14th, 2012. I remember the fun times I had.

We went to Taps to celebrate a birthday. The staff was excellent, our servers were friendly and made great suggestions. I can't remember the last time I went out to eat and enjoyed the food so much. The sushi rolls were fantastic and other than the surf and turf, the food was very well priced for the taste and quality. The surf and turf was excellent as well, just didn't realize what MP was currently!

Went for Sunday Brunch. Amazing selection of food. Mimosas were great. We ate outside on the patio. Service was phenomenal, Teresa was a great server. Our hostess, Jessica, was very helpful and explained how everything worked. The carving station server was friendly and the omelet bar server was speedy and made great omelets. All the employees were great. I loved the creativity of the dessert bar, the baker had cute Halloween cookies throughout as decoration, it was so cute and great attention to detail! I would come back here again.

I came early on a Monday evening, and it wasn't too crowded or busy. Beautiful building and decor, super knowledgeable and friendly staff. Our server went above and beyond, offering to make us special sauce for my steak, educating us about oysters, and recommending his favorites. Fantastic food, the garlic mashed potatoes and the lobster dumplings are must haves. If you have any bread left, dip it in the lobster dumpling sauce-you won't be sorry. Waiters regularly checked in, food and drinks were served promptly, and it was just overall a wonderful experience.

Sat in the bar and had some pretty good food and drinks. Oysters were pretty good, but steak and lobster was the stand out tonight. We also had some crab legs, but they were not pre-cut nor were crackers provided. Big fail there. Service was great and attentive. Will be back soon.

Only can comment about the bar and happy hour as this is the only time I'm there and the only place I sit. Great place to taste award winning brews at 5 bucks a pop. THEY HAVE LAGERS! Nice variety too. Bartenders well trained on the beers and helpful. Recent remodel along with expanded nearby free parking adds to the experience. Staff on top of the sports games on the many TVs. Solid place to hang. Long tables in the lounge for celebrations with work friends, etc. Outside patio too. Happy hour food is OK not great. Last trip had considerable wait for my humble meatballs. I'd say a 30s to 50s crowd-- hipster free zone. Best place overall in downtown Brea for beer, sports and food, especially if you want seafood.

The food was good. Service was superior and the establishment as a whole is a a solid four. The options on the menu are a little off the table, but everything is made to taste well. The portion sizes are average and is not definitely a shareable size.

If we could, we would give it 4.4. We sat at the oyster bar and tried some small dishes. The quality of the food was really good. Lobster bisque and clam chowder soup was 👍! Oysters were very fresh. We ordered a chorizo plate. You don’t find in many places, chorizo de Pamplona. It was very tasty. What really got our attention was the fish and chips. Outstanding! Even better than some places we tried in England. The fish was fresh, which is the key for fish and chips. The service was good especially Fidel at the oyster bar. Very courteous and efficient. We can tell he loves his job. Next time, we will go back for dinner.

Been to TAPS several times and they never disappoint. Great ambience , great food and TAPS has the best dessert Chocolate souffle is one of a kind the Crème brûlée is not far behind. Great place to have a nice family dinner. It's a little pricey for a family of four would run about $200 to $250 but it's all worth it. Reservations 5 Stars, Food 4 Stars, Service 5 Stars

Had lunch here recently. The food was great & the customer service was good as well. Helios was our bartender & server. He was patient & gave great recommendations. We ordered The Chilean Sea Bass with carb free substitutions (added Brussels sprouts). The flavor was good. The sauce really made the meal. We also had The Rainbow salad, clam chowder & an order of wings as well as 3 shots and 3 cocktails (it was happy hour!). There were no complaints about the salad but my companion raved about about the chowder. The wings were not breaded and cooked well, just the way I like. The food was good but portions were not great. After we paid (around $184), Helios said he would still check in on us. Later, we decided to order another round of drinks. We realized we didn’t really need the drinks so we looked for Helios to cancel the order if the drinks weren’t made yet. We ended up asking another waitress who spotted him speaking to someone. A few minutes later he still hadn’t returned to answer the question so we decided to go and let him know as we passed by. He appeared to be talking to a manager so we just let him know and left. He gave an explanation but it wasn’t a big deal and we were ready to go. I would still recommend & return for a light meal in the future.

We enjoyed dinner here with a business group on a recent visit. It was near our hotel, had a good selection of tap beer and everyone at the table enjoyed the food. For dinner, I kept it light and ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese salad (see picture) and would highly recommend it! For dessert, several of us shared a creme brulee...and it is also highly recommended! Always love coming to Taps, whether it be for lunch or dinner or brunch. Staff/servers are very professional, friendly and efficient. They have the best fresh bread and serve it with a garlic balsamic oil. Love it ! On this visit, I had the lunch 1/2 soup and 1/2 sandwhich. Both were very delicious. My mother on law had the fish tacos which she enjoyed, and my husband had the mahi enchilada. He loved it. They have a large variety of beers which I do not drink, however I love their vodka martinis. Highly suggested place to visit.

I was so surprised that a fish house had such great steak. Before you ask why I went to a fish house and ordered steak, my wife ordered the salmon and we try each others food....BUT the steak was a better choice in my opinion. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the salmon. The salmon was great, but you could cut the steak with a butter knife. The clam chowder is better than the Chowder Hut in San Francisco, but I think next time no corn. The bacon was on loint though. The calamari is apparently a popular appetizer. "Popcorn of the sea" is the only way I can describe it. The aoili they set them in has a little more kick than the traditional stuff most italian places use. The house double IPA was smooth and didn't have too much of that usual IPA aftertaste. I wish they had a hazy, but that's okay. Definitely worth a return visit to try more.

S

Been going here for a few years. Always get the Chilean sea bass every time. It WAS absolutely delicious. Well, apparently they have changed most of their menu, including the bass. It was good but definitely not as good as before. My bf agrees too. So now at $50 a meal for good not great I don't think we will be coming back as often as before, if at all. I never understood why restaurants change recipes. If it's not broken don't try to fix it.

C
Charmaine Hintson Mankey

Food was great! Service exceptional..Loraliev was so sweet to us and made the end of a bad week a great start to the new week. We sincerely appreciated her. The only suggestion is make would be to add a couple of fans. Yes, we ate on the hottest night of the year, and the patio was tolerable. A breeze would have been delightful. Thank you for the great food and service. My salmon was delectable, and the sea bass worth every penny!

J

I love Taps the food itself is great. The fish and chips are to die for. I come very often. The service is great since you can ask for another waiter in your zone. But… Don’t come on a Sunday or Monday night. White table cloth prices and food but not service on these night. Had a young female server tell me about her problems and gave me the worst bread sauce. She put mostly oil instead of the bread seasoning on their.

Went here for my husband's birthday 😄, his choice. But if you are vegetarian, this may not be a good choice (like me) as they do not have vegetarian options on their menu. I give 5 stars to the waitress though, she was able to provide fettuccine without seafood. All of the food was great. Just wish they had more options. If you love seafood, go here, you will love it.

S

Good bar, BEAUTIFUL hostess',at least the ones I saw. Oh yeah, they've got food there too. Oyster & sushi bars and a decent menu serving seafood from clam chowder to fish and chips. Located on the corner of Imperial Hwy and Brea Blvd. Probably a cool place for Sunday football. They have 8-10 big screen TV's. Price is moderate, there's an outside patio but no one was dining outside. Busy street has noise and probably kicks up dust on your food.

R
Rick Lorette

A very nice place, I had the blackened fish tacos with rice and beans and it was really good, great beers, I tried the red which was good but really liked the hefenweizen, my only complaint was that it's expensive

h

I keep trying to return to this place, but it's been closed! The food was kind of ok, but the servers were so fast and nice and helpful even though it was pretty busy 2 of the times I went. The cocktails were good and a good price on happy hour. One issue is that I couldn't sit on the patio until like 4 pm or something? weird turnover between lunch and dinner

A
ASL

Sitting at the bar gets you quick drink service, but food does take a while to arrive. Their Happy Hour menu has changed. There are far fewer options, and I wasn't impressed with the updated menu. We went in wanting animal pizza, wings, ceviche, and fish tacos. All unavailable. They only have three pizza options: Margherita, cheese, or pepperoni. The pepperoni pizza was good, I must admit. The two customs we sat next to also agreed that their menu changed. They ordered dinner (Chilean sea bass and steak) and said it wasn't great and for sure not worth the price. I recently read an article from the OC Register that the owners closed all locations as of 7/7/23. I hope they come back with a new concept that will have live music (Sunday Jazz Brunch) and provide great service as they did way before the pandemic happened.

S
Samantha T

We brought our Crew for a team bonding event on a Tuesday night. Service was great, ribeye steaks were good. The change in menu for the Chilean seabass was disappointing, "if it ain't broke, why fix it" and the butter cake did not live up to expectations. I was hoping it was warm and moist it wasn't, it was cold and a bit hard but the taste was good. Overall a good experience.

L
Lucie Lucio

The food was OK, I've had better. For an upper end restaurant I read it 3 stars. Service for party of 14 was good. After brunch a quarter of the party went to the bar where the bartender was not receptive. Did not pay attention to new people but focused on regulars. I think a rating of 3 stars is generous .

Been a year since Iast time I was here. Place has gone downhill. The lobster roll was a waste of lobster. It had so much wilted arugula in it. Disgusting. The aioli was terrible too. What a shame. The clams and mussels were really good and their bread is awesome, just not when they grill it over fire. The clam chowder was delicious too. Total drag they did away with the chocolate souffle, in favor of some lame flowerless cake. Still a decent place, just not as good as before.

I've come here for brunch and it was pretty good. It's buffet style and I enjoyed most everything and although it's not something to go home and rave about, I would definately recommend it. I came for dinner tonight and had the complete opposite experience. I think for the mediocre food my entire family was served, its was over priced. The fish was overcooked, my steak was medium on one half and blue rare on the other, the king crab legs that were a whopping 60$ were over cooked and ur definately get a more generous portion at Joe's crab shack for half the cost. Dessert was over all disappointing and that's where I put my foot down and sent the souffle back. Our server was very polite and our poor dinner experience is not reflected on her at all, only from what came out of the kitchen. Overall definately good beer and one of the better brunch spots but dont count on a hearty meal to sleep on.

We went with a party of 6 for brunch to celebrate a birthday. My wife thought it was good but I wasn't impressed. If u love oysters, and unlimited so-so champagne and a decent selection of stuff, then you might think that it's worth it. Again, something for everyone but not 5 star, not even 4 star food quality but definitely better than Golden Corral (but should be at $55)

The staff are friendly and service is good. The food is ok. The clam chowder was so thick you could eat it with a fork. Sushi was okay. Chinese chicken salad was big, the chicken was dry, it was their normal grilled chicken without much flavor. The dressing was okay, a little too much Asian slaw mix and not enough fixings. Overall it's an okay place to go with a group of people to socialize with food and drinks.

The kitchen is the highlight, all meals are excellent from the bread as appetizer over the starters and the main dishes with the salad to the dessert. But it is a bit too expensive for the overall result. Because the service is wrong and I pay for it, too. If you have the feeling that you disturbing the staff, you don't feel comfortable as a guest. When you arrive at a half filled restaurant and they told you that needs to be checked, if there is a free table and let you wait is not right. This was the complete visit long, that there is a feeling of disturbing the staff and at the end the fasted was receiving the bill without asking for. To kick the guest out, because they want to clean up and finish for the day, at 21:00. There was a feeling like the staff have no fun at work or don't like their job, they have to be there, missing motivation. Therefore the kitchen is a five star and the service have to be improved, but maybe it was only a bad day.

We probably won't be back. All of the amazing appetizers are gone from the menu. I kept equating the service to Claim Jumper which is fine but not the quality of service that we had come to expect considering past experiences and your prices. The server did not ask if we wanted anything to drink besides water. The appetizer's empty plates were left on the table when salads were delivered and then the salad plates were left on the table when entrees were delivered. Our entree plates were still on the table when we left it for the evening. My husband was never offered a steak knife and was forced to make due with a table knife. A spoon or shell plate was never offered with the seafood curry. It just appears that your standards dropped with COVID and further dropped as you re-imagined your menu.

The only reason I am giving TAPS a 3 is because there was a hair in my food and I discovered this as I was chewing. I called the other server who was closest to me and he was super apologetic and took my plate away. Our server soon came over and also apologized. By the time I got my plate everyone in our party of 5 had finished. The Cioppinino, spaghetti seafood, Oysters, and steak were very good. I was struggling again when we received the bill, they had charged us for an additional plate, so a total of 6 dinners vs 5. We were a party of 5 to explain further. It took them 15 mins to fix the bill. So, not sure we will be back. We were seated on a very dark side room and not in the main room where everything was happening.

I added a mashed potato with lobster(on the right side dish) that was just normal. One of the side that I chose was mushroom which was greasy. The soup was really good though.

I have now been to TAPS twice, both times with a large group. The first time was such a fun experience. Our bilingual server was helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and so incredibly kind. But let me tell you about this most recent experience. The young server was so dismissive, passed us often when we were trying to get his attention and took three laps before taking our food order. He also left our dessert tray after putting it next to us. One of my family members passed out the desserts to everyone because he was GONE. We had to ask for silverware, drink refills, napkins...he was not on it. It was such a sour experience. The food was ok, I feel like the experience overshadowed our meal. And it actually started out bad because our reservation was moved indoors at the very last minute. I made the reservation at least a month before (I want to say closer to 6 weeks prior) and the day of, I was messaged with the change. I couldn't cancel on my large party so I took the inside reservation but it was not what we agreed to. I have included a picture of the table side s'mores that he eventually came twice for because he needed to light it.

The seabass has been cut in half while the price has increased. Been going to taps for years we don't even need a menu because it's oysters and seabass. Our server wasn't like normal too. The hot food was on the table at the same time as the appetizers. Which means rush through so your main course so doesn't get cold seriously taps what is going on here. Won't be rushing back with service like this. Question how and who is letting this great restaurant fall apart 🤔

Our first time at Taps. We order calamari for appetizers it was good but too much grease and tenicle. The plate doesn't have much of calamari ring to eat. I order rockfish plate came with mash potatoes and asparagus. I did not like the fish, the meat has plain taste. I tasted my bf clam chowder and it was good. I didn't order desert since ideas really disappointed at my dish and the appetizers.

The water was def not the best we've ever had. He didn't know any gluten free foods. He chatted at length with the table behind us and forgot two drinks. Even if we reminded him, he still forgot. We were a table of 8 and the restaurant was pretty empty. I didn't get sick from the food, but due to his lack of knowledge, I was nervous all night.

This place has lost it's edge. Food ok but not great. Oysters however were fresh but very small. Brought own bottle of expensive wine and they took the bottle and decanted it not by us. Have no idea if they shifted bottles or not. The lady though covered our whole dinner which we did NOT ASK for. That is over and above. Desserts especially chocolate olive cake stay away from. Service unfortunately was slow. Just not where it was even year ago.

Update 02/2020: while the food and drinks are still good, the service has just become ridiculous. The last 3 visits we've experienced 10+ minute wait times just to be given menus/greeted and then getting food today took over 45 minutes without even a "sorry". Downgrading to a 2 at this point. 5 stars for consistently providing good beer and food. The Jambalaya and Gumbo are definitely some of my favorite dishes here!

Brought my bestie here for a birthday lunch. The food was good but the server was either not having her best day or didn’t have enough sleep. Not sure what the problem was but was not told that there were two sizes of clam chowder. I wanted a bowl size and only one price was displayed on the menu so I assumed that was the bowl price. So I got a tiny cup of soup and had to order a bowl. Was charged for both the bowl and the cup. With my bestie she has to eat softer food because of oral problems. Ordered bread and she asked for butter. It took 15 minutes to get the butter and the bread became cold and hard. Had to order another bread. Also she ordered a shrimp cocktail and it came with 4 shrimp?!?!?!? How cheap is that? The price of the shrimp cocktail is $19 and you give 4 shrimp when I ordered shrimp with my wedge salad and got 7 shrimp same size? Something’s off here and it’s either the establishment or the servers or both. Sorry but our first time here is going to be our last. Good luck!

TAPS should stick with what they know. Thanksgiving Buffet was a disaster. I had made reservations 3 weeks ahead. Hostess tried to put us outside in a tent, with plastic chairs & tables. It was dripping rain, cold, & had water running through the area. Food choices were terrible. Mostly cold. So much wasted food. Selections not traditional as advertized & what was listed on web & fare bill not even on table. Have been to Taps for regular service but won't be going back again. Only the wait staff were were the same quality.

We have been here a few times now. Today for lunch, our waitress was bad. She really made us wait. My old fashion cocktail took at least 10 minutes to come to our table. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday at 1:44pm. Our bread and my wife's Coke took even longer. Then she eventually took our order. We ordered a bowl of lobster bisque, BLT sandwich, side Cesar salad, and fish and chips. By the time our food came out, we were done with our bread and lobster bisque. Our waitress never checked on us if our food tasted fine. I have been to lower cost restaurants that offer five-star service. At least our food tasted delicious. Our waitress just sucked! I hope our we have a better waitress or waiter on my birthday coming up.

I recently visited Taps in Brea for brunch on Father's Day, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst meals I've had to date. I had high hopes for Taps, as they used to be known for their fantastic brunch, but my recent experience left a lot to be desired. First and foremost, the service was extremely slow. It took an eternity for our drinks to arrive, and even longer for our utensils to arrive. The staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, which resulted in a lack of attentiveness and a frustratingly long waits. I was disappointed to find that alot of the food lacked flavor. It felt like the dishes were hastily put together without much attention to taste or seasoning. The brunch classics that I was looking forward to, such as salmon, oysters and scallops, were constantly running out, leaving me disappointed and craving for more. To make matters worse, the omelet bar was left unattended for a significant amount of time. It was disappointing to see a crucial part of the brunch experience neglected, especially when it is a prominent feature of Taps' brunch. The restaurant was overly crowded, which only added to the chaotic atmosphere. The noise level was high, and it was difficult to carry on a conversation without raising our voices. The lack of space and the overwhelming number of patrons made for an uncomfortable dining experience. While I understand that being short-staffed can be a challenge, it's not an excuse for such a subpar dining experience. Taps used to be a go-to spot for brunch, but based on my recent visit, I cannot recommend it anymore. On a positive note, I have to mention that Taps does have a nice weekday happy hour, which might be worth considering. However, when it comes to their brunch, the quality and service do not match the price. I hope that Taps can address the issues I encountered during my visit and regain its reputation for serving a memorable and delicious brunch. Overall, if you're looking for a brunch spot in Brea, I would recommend exploring other options before considering Taps.

I used to be a BIG fan of both TAPS in Brea and in Irvine. But my second to last visit was underwhelming and my last experience was so below my expectations for TAPS that I will likely never be going here again. The service levels have gone WAY down relative to what they used to be. Each of my last two visits had errors in service or I needed to remind servers about something I ordered (e.g., a bottle of wine) and while each was corrected, it was the first I had ever experienced issues like that at TAPS. What's more, is there didn't seem to be any desire to over-correct the mistakes which is usually the hallmark of an organization that prides itself on service. In addition to service declines, food quality has also disappointed. Steaks used to be cooked to perfection regularly, but in both recent visits steaks were significantly over cooked and, in one instance, the three steaks on the seafood trio were all cooked to different temperatures! Other items on the menu are fine, but none wowed me in the same way that the food used to with the exception of a kids cheese pizza which I did find outstanding. I think what disappoints me the most is that I shared these concerns with the restaurant both through their website and through email and never received a response from either. The message to me is clear: TAPS is not concerned with appeasing repeat customers. I cannot and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's just not worth it anymore.

This is a pretty high priced, fine dining establishment, but the food is okay at best. I dined here recently and ordered one of the least expensive fish dishes which start at 29.95. The fish was tasty, but it came served on a large bed of semi cooked saucy rice, and that was all. Rice is super cheap and the amount of fish you got to the amount of rice was lopsided. This small piece of fish sitting on top of this huge bed of rice. The chief tried to make the dish look expensive by adding a bit of shaved garnishes, and other stuff on top of the fish, but really?? The server was over friendly, said strange things at the wrong time, smiled constantly and forgot something I asked for 2x? I never got what I asked for. You wouldn't expect this type of service at a $$$$ restaurant. All in all it was a unpleasant dining experience and we won't be coming back.

This review is for my visit on 2/27/2016. I've been carrying the receipt in my pocket since then and haven't had the time to write this, but now I do. It took a while to find parking (not TAPS fault). The other 3 people in my party were seated when I walked in (they didn't want to seat them until I was there). Their drink order had already been taken. I ordered a glass of wine. It literally took between 10-15 minutes (and asking 3 times) to get that glass of wine. When it came time to order we had questions. The server didn't have too many answers. We felt he didn't know the menu so we figured he was new. He was very nice and courteous throughout our time together (even when I started to give him a hard time). One of the items I ordered was a wedge salad with extra ranch. I had to ask 3 times for the ranch. One of the other people in my party wanted the crab cakes. She asked our server if it was (s) plural meaning 2 crab cakes or 1 crab cake. He said it was 2 cakes so she ordered them. Guess what came out? You guessed it!! One crab cake came out. We immediately said something to our server. The best he could do was have them manager come see us. OK, so I am already irritated having to ask and wait for my wine and then my ranch, and now this? The manager showed up and we explained our problem. She explained that there was a problem with the way the menus were printed and we said that we felt that wasn't our problem especially when we asked if the plate came with 1 or 2 cakes. She asked if there was anything she could do for us. We said she could give us the other cake. She said she couldn't do that (and I said " and I can't write you a good review). The manager said she would make a price adjustment on the bill, didn't say what kind of adjustment. She removed the crab cake from the bill. What could have been done differently? Well to start our server in our opinion wasn't ready for a Saturday evening rush, and didn't know the menu. The manager could have brought us out 1 crab cake on a small side dish plate. She ended up giving us 1 free cake anyway. Whats the difference? All we wanted was what we thought we ordered which is 2 crab cakes. That would have made all the difference in the world, and I would not be writing this NEGATIVE review (which I promised I would write). I didn't want to let you down manager. The rest of the food was good. The dining experience was not.............and TAPS is not a cheap dinner. I will not return to TAPS in Brea, California and I would not recommend TAPS to a friend.

I went to TAPS Fish House for my Birthday 2/8/21. I was excited to try this restaurant since I have moved to Brea earlier last year. I made a reservation for 6pm online. I live relatively close by and I got there early around 5:30pm. I spoke with the hostess and let her know that we were early and if there was anyway we could be seated sooner that I would appreciate it. She said that we could be seated in 10 minutes, not a big deal since we were early anyways. My brother, mother, and I were gazing over the menu while waiting for our table to be ready. The first thing I noticed was how big the restaurant was and the setting was beautiful. With that being said, there was no one in front of us waiting and as 6pm arrived we were finally seated. So they sat us at our reserved time after about a 30 minute wait. They brought us outside to the patio area and it was quite cozy with a couple of fireplaces and several heating lamps to keep us warm. What I also noticed was lack of tables filled with guests. As I mentioned no one was waiting in front of us. There were numerous empty tables that the host could have taken our group to if they wanted. I felt we had waited unnecessarily and could have been sat down sooner. The music seemed to not match the atmosphere. . don't get me wrong, I love Run DMC, Missy Elliot, and Lil John. But listening to "Get yo Freak on" while having a nice cozy dinner with my 80 year old mother seemed out of place. What we ordered: The waiter (I forgot his name) took our drink order and our appetizer order when he arrived to the table. Two beers, the grilled octopus and half-dozen oysters. We waited quite a while for our beers to arrive to the table. After about 10 minutes our server finally arrived and looked confused that the beers were not on the table and inquired if the arrived. We told him it had not and returned after another 5 minutes claiming that the beers had arrived at a different table. So needless to say the service was slow. We went ahead and placed our dinner order before our appetizers arrived. We ordered the Chilean Seabass, Seared Scallops, and the Cioppino. Our appetizers finally arrived after about 20-25 minutes after we had ordered them. The Grilled octopus was beautifully plated and I was ready to dig in. The octopus was disappointing. . For the one thing, It was COLD. . not warm but COLD meaning lacking any heat as if it was sitting in the window for several minutes. Not only that, there was an awful fishy after taste following it. I took a couple of bites and worked on the potato squares which was also lacking any warmth, however, my mother didn't seem to mind the fishy taste. She's old school Korean, so she likes that funky fishy flavors. The oysters were good but not special and they were extremely small so for 20 dollars for 6 tiny pieces seemed . . well. . i can't think of any words. Seabass: The Seabass itself was too salty. Rice was okay and the spinach was underwhelming cold and lacked seasoning. Scallops: Was seared perfectly, but again arrived cold (seems to be the theme) and the risotto was undercooked and also very salty. Cioppino: This was the most disappointing. The sauce was very thick and pasty. It tomato sauce completely overwhelmed any flavor of the clams, crabs, shrimp, and mussels within the dish. It was a thick mess. Honestly, sauce just tasted like tomato paste. The pros: The Host who took us to the table was very friendly and nice. Our server was friendly and his service was good overall. The Atmosphere and ambience was enjoyable. . Again the music didn't really match setting. The Cons: Very slow pace of service and the lack of attention to the food.

TAPS used to be an exciting restaurant with good service and moderately priced food. Now the food is sub-par Joe's Crab Shack quality with service that is equivalent to a McDonalds. We walked in at 4:50 pm last week and was told there was a 25 minute wait due to staffing shortages. Don't waste your time.

We've been going to Sunday Brunch at Taps for a couple of years. Previously we found the experience fabulous: huge selection on the buffet and an a great menu for table service. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive. And we were NEVER asked to leave "because our time had run out". Today, the place opened at 10 AM and was full by 10:15. Our server was one of 3 who had to handle more than 100 people. The result was glacial. It took many minutes to get her attention and many more minutes to see the results of our requests. My order was wrong or forgotten twice. So before we were finished eating we were told that we had to leave because our 2 hours were up. And the made-to-order crepe station (VERY popular) had been replaced by a "Build your own pasta" area that had about 4 people use it during the 2 hours we were there. The Brisket was dry. The chicken pot pie was all gravy and soggy pie crust. The chocolate fountain was so oily that it mostly rolled off of the strawberries. They had added so many tables and chairs to the floor that getting to the food was a BIG challenge. The noise level was also WAY up due to the size of the crowd. I was SERIOUSLY disappointed with the experience and will be looking elsewhere for Sunday Brunch.

Restaurant is beautiful. Service was good. I really liked the bread but that was it. Fish and chips were terrible. Dark in color and hardly any fish. The chips were ok. I wouldn't recommend ordering that again. Review your kitchen and service a nice fish with light coating as seen in your photos!

Horribly disorganized. Had us waiting 20 minutes because they were changing from their buffet to regular dinning. The dinning area in the bar had no one sitting. Two waiters had nothing to do and watching the football game, Instead of seating us and getting our drink orders. TAPS would rather have their customers wait for 20 minutes in the small seating area. I will never be returning to this establishment again. I will not be recommending this to friends or family.

My review is not based on the quality of the food, but rather the disappointing situation I ran into. We've always been a supporter of Taps. The quality of food is great, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Recently we booked a portion of the terrace room to the left for our company Christmas party. Upon arriving and checking in with the hostess, we were informed that we got moved to the main dining area. My issue was that no one had called us to let us know. There's a reason why we requested the room. The main dining area can get quite loud. Being in the room afforded our party an opportunity to be able to hear each other. The other host at the front desk just shrugged and said we were moved because another company had booked the entire room out. I objected that we had specifically requested that room a month in advance, and why weren't we called about the change. The host again wasn't helpful or apologetic. I asked to speak with the manager, who also wasn't very apologetic. Nor were we offered anything in return for the inconvenience. While our food and our server were fantastic, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Next year we'll be moving our party to Summit Hill or Cedar Creek. Ownership of Taps Brea needs to get this fixed.
