Our family of four enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cafe 43, located next to George W. Bush's presidential library in Dallas, Texas. The restaurant's modern and bright ambiance made for a pleasant dining experience. As vegetarians, we appreciated the vegan and vegetarian-friendly menu options. I chose black beans with eggs, my son had squash spaghetti, my wife enjoyed fried avocado, and my daughter tried a unique dish with cream cheese-like base topped with a few vegetables. For dessert, we indulged in key lime pie and cheesecake with fresh berries and mango. The service was prompt, and the locally sourced ingredients made each dish authentic and flavorful. It was convenient to have a meal at the restaurant before heading back into the library. We also observed a painting by George W. Bush featuring cacti. Overall, our visit to Cafe 43 was enjoyable and memorable.
Awesome! It starts with the building. The restaurant is part of the George W. Bush Presidential Library. On entering, the ceilings are high and the views of SMU are great from the floor to ceiling windows. Oh yeah, and they served food. Best corned beef reuben i habe ever had. Fruit was delicious. Fresh blueberries!
Came back to try something else and DAMN! This place is great! The host is so nice and welcoming! But why did this sandwich taste so good?! I've never had soft ciabatta bread before and this bread was so soft and was so good with the avocado inside. The grilled chicken was like a herb chicken and was cooked to perfection. The sweet potato fries were so crisp and delicious with the aioli sauce it came with. It was such a great experience. Everyone was so nice and attentive that waited on us. Even the manager kept walking around, checking on all the tables making sure everyone was okay. Everyone seemed so happy to be there. Love it!
Highly Recommend for guests that wish to visit the George W. Bush Presidental Museum and Library. Casual dining atmosphere with Chef quality dining experience. Exemplary waitstaff. Food allergies and sensitivity handled with seamless panache. Attractively plated, locally-sourced, organic dishes. Excellent ending to my guests museum experience.
The seasonal menu offered at the President George W. Bush library is wonderful! My friend ordered the Butternut squash soup as a starter, and the Avocado toast with eggs and greens with fresh fruit. Both dishes were visually appealing and flavorful. I preferred the corn soup which was spicy and delicious and the corned beef sandwich, which was very similar to a Reuben. The only difference is that it is served with Russian dressing vs. Thousand Island dressing. ( I prefer Thousand Island as Russian gives the Sandwich an extra level of sweetness.) The sandwich is served with marbled rye which again makes it special. The accompanying French fries were fresh and hot. I do wish that the cheese had been melted to better integrate the sandwich’s flavor. Manny, our server, offer quick, attentive service. I plan to visit again in Spring to see what new offerings they have!
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful views from all of the windows

Great food! The staff was wonderfully accommodating of our 18 y/o's birthday!
Very professional staff. Nice understated decor. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. You need reservations though!
Top level service. I had the turkey panini. Wife had the omelet. Sweet potato fries delicious.
Unique and very tasty dishes: from appetozers to desserts! Fried avocado, fig crostini, spaghetti squash, burger, cowboy cookies and brownies.
Great and quick service. Corn soup was delicious and the chicken sandwich and fries were really great.

Decent food, friendly service. We saw Laura Bush sitting at another table as we were leaving!
Fantastic and well-crafted good for a reasonable price. Luxurious decor with great views.
Вкусно готовят. Хорошие порции. Внимательный, но ненавязчивый сервис.
A wonderful spot for lunch. And a tour of the presidential center is worth the price of admission.

An excellent restaurant!! The service is awesome!!
My sister and I took her boys to the George W. Bush museum on the last day of our trip to Dallas from Shreveport, LA. Her oldest son, who is on the autism spectrum, was not doing well. He was on the verge of a meltdown. I offered to take him out of the museum to the cafe to get something to eat and drink. We walked across the courtyard to the Cafe 43 and the very friendly hostess took our name and seated us in a few minutes. The cafe is upscale and the menu looked delicious but I wasn't eating...my nephew was. They immediately filled the stem glassware with water and brought bread to the table. Looking around, the clientele consisted of men in 3 piece suits, ladies who lunch and some visitors from the museum. The dining room was comfortable with lovely views from the large windows. I ordered us both drinks but knew the menu would not accommodate my nephew so I asked for a kid's menu...they had one! I know this is not some fast food joint so when the waiter returned I explained that my nephew was not doing well in the museum, that we were there to get him something to eat and give my sister and her other son time in the museum. The waiter seemed confused or annoyed, maybe both. He wasn't rude or anything, he was prompt in service, just seemed a little put out. Anyway, the kid's menu had something my very picky eater would like...a grilled cheese! Ordered it hoping it would not have any gourmet twists to it, and asked the waiter to have the chef leave off any garnishments. When the food came out, it was a straight up, classic grilled cheese and fries...perfect. My nephew inhaled it. When he finished he said "W sure makes a good grilled cheese!" It satiated him and saved the day...no meltdown and my sister and other nephew were able to finish the museum and met us at the cafe. I did feel bad that a table meant for four was serving only one kid's meal when a waiter depends on tips most calculate from the total bill. I tipped about 80%as a way to say thanks for saving the day but also to show that kind, friendly service is rewarding no matter who is being served. Thank you W for the great grilled cheese and the comfortable cafe. Hopefully, I will be able to return to finish my tour of the museum and enjoy a lovely lunch at the cafe.
My wife and I had a wonderful lunch before touring the Bush Presidential center. The dining room is airy and modern. Service was perfect.
The service at cafe 43 was delightful but the real star was the kids grilled cheese. The crunchy buttery Texas toast took a kids classic to a whole new level. It was the most family friendly fine dining experience I’ve had in Dallas!
We had lunch here while visiting the Bush Library. The service and food were both excellent! The pricing for the food quality and service was better than expected. I highly recommend Cafe 43 and we will be back!!
This place blew my expectations out of the water. The decor and ambiance is very hip, relaxing, and elegant - without being stuffy. As a follower of the keto diet, I was impressed by my keto-friendly dish: spaghetti squash with crab and shrimp. Delicious would be an understatement. It was rich ly seasoned with complex flavors. Service was top notch...I appreciated our waiter's kind demeanor and attentive service. When we come back to Dallas for vacation, we'll definitely have to pay this cafe a visit. Highly recommend this place for low carb menu options and all the reasons mentioned above.
Excellent cafe, we have lunch here several times already, we always like everything!
hey y’all! update your hours on here. google mistakenly said you’re open on sundays
Delicious take on food staples. I have never had such delicious huevos rancheros. The decor was simple and elegant. The views were gorgeous. I'm happy that I made the trip out there.
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. You will not be disappointed by your experience here!
I have never had such delicious huevos rancheros. The decor was simple and elegant. The views were gorgeous. I'm happy I had this opportunity to enjoy great food, service and staff.
We were disappointed cause we didn't get to see the George Bush museum, but going to Cafe' 43 made up for it. Food was amazing and our servicer was informative and fast and friendly. We can't wait to go back.
Great place for a business lunch. Fantastic service in a nice setting. Salads, soups, entrees, and sandwiches. I have been there dozens of times and never had anything that wasn't delicious.
Beautiful restaurant and service was excellent. Everything was delicious. We went as a group of four and everyone raved about their meals.
Great restaurant, very accommodating for the large group of girls we had. The food was very affordable and delicious. The only negative is that we had to pay for parking.
Great food and atmosphere. Excellent service. My 10 month old highly approved of the sweet potato fries.
Very fun outing for Staff Christmas event. Food and service were outstanding!
This was an unexpected find. We knew the Library had a cafe but who knew it would be excellent. Nice environment with well spaced tables. Service was very good but the food was superb. I had the salmon with spinach, asparagus and mash potato and lemon sauce. All cooked perfectly. Well done! My husband said it was the best burger, and the fact they brought the ketchup and mayo before the burger arrived says everything. Well done.
Wow - don't be fooled by the cafe title - this is definitely a restaurant - and it's lovely. Great atmosphere and setting, and the food is really delicious. Save space for dessert as this is where they really shine! Perfect for a business lunch or if elder family members are in town. (They'll get a kick out of the surroundings)
Very relaxed atmosphere, great selection of lighter menu choices. I can highly recommend both the seared salmon salad and the lump crab meat salad. Good service without being rushed. Good lunch break while visiting the George W Bush museum.
Cafe 43 is very good. Menu is small but all the dishes appear to be interesting. Fried avocado was surprisingly good. Parking is across the street and runs $10. Two adults, 1 starter, 2 entrees was $75 including tip.
Very beautiful peaceful and cool environment. Big and bright, we had our lunch there. Ordered Salomon and chicken raspberry salad
Love this restaurant! It is in the Bush Museum. You can eat here without going into the museum. The menu is small, but varied. Prices are moderate. It has terrace seating available when the weather is good. The Cowboy Cookies are a must-try! Note - the parking lot dedicated to the museum and restaurant charges for parking, and the restaurant doesn’t validate. My last visit there, the parking was $10.
Lovely room and great food. Guests need to know how to find this restaurant and where to park. We drove around for quite awhile looking for it. It is actually inside the Bush museum but not obvious whatsoever.
Excelente
if it is a nice day, try to sit on the patio. good service, server was nice, but not interactive. corn chowder a,little spicy but good. whipped feta was great. Huevo ranchero was ok. two eggs on top of soupy blackbeans and two fried white corn tortillas. It's a different take but not a good one. Parking is $10, as most people go to George W. Bush museum
Great service and good food
Always a great experience. Service is wonderful and the food is amazing.
We had a group of 20+ and they did a great job.
Nice lunch spot adjoining the Bush Presidential Center on the SMU campus. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed a grilled burger while my wife had a salad she loved. The service was excellent! If you visit the George W Bush Presidential Library you won't be disappointed if you choose to eat here.
Nice way to end our visit to the GWB Presidential Library. This is probably more about the experience than the food but we enjoyed a good meal with friendly service in close proximity to the library.
Typical museum Cafe. We needed to grab a bite because of our schedule that day so we ate here. Overpriced but good was better than average for a museum. I would recommend reserving a spot during peak tourist time. I imagine it could get quite busy.
Nice place to visit with a friend and have lunch. Corn soup was very good. The chicken salad had a lot of cranberries and pecans which was good, but it was a bit drier than I expected. The banana pecan ice cream didn't taste much like banana, but it was cool and creamy.
Muy Nice, el servicio y la comida de 10!!
I don’t want to talk down about this place, because the staff is incredible…but 4.7 stars is wild. This is a 3.2 where the staff carries the experience.
Server waited on other tables before acknowledging us. Was irritated with us?? We are both professional women and travel for a living so it was an unpleasant experience. He did say the meal was big enough for two, but glad we each ordered our own, as it came with 3 shrimp and a trace amt of crab. Never asked how our meal was or thanked us. Worst service I’ve encountered in along time.
Great service and friendly staff but the food was awful. The schnitzel was so greasy that it was sitting in a puddle on the plate. The carrots and brussel sprouts were burned to a crisp. It was pricey but we expected that, we just hoped the food would be better.
Staff is rude and hours are ridiculous. Cookies are dry but have good flavor.
We had the blackened catfish. The fish itself was good but this weird tomato sauce was just funky and made the dirty rice taste awful. The two breads they brought out to snack on before the meal was one, like a sponge and two, like eating dried out pizza from last week. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful and the service was superb! We might try it again but order something different.
Sadly, the restaurant is now closed on Sundays, even though the Google Maps listing says it's open from. With no other place to eat at the Presidential library, we were forced to leave to find food and return to finish our visit through the museum.
