German Doner Kebab Albans Reviews
Doner is sooo yummy! I love the service. Genaro is the best employee I’ve ever seen in my life — such a great guy!
Everything it’s so delicious, I come here to eat everytime I come to the city I would most definitely recommend, staff it’s so kind such a great service!!
Food was incredibly well made and flavorful. Lots of options including vegetarian. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Service was quick and restaurant was very clean. Will definitely come back.
As a German, I was skeptical of this place at first. "Authentic German Döner Kebab in the US"? How could it be possible? But, by golly they've done it. It was everything I hoped for. The Döner was huge with freshly sliced meat and veggies. The bread was just the right amount of crispy. The fries with the garlic sauce were delicious and well seasoned. I'm so happy I found this place. It's my new favorite lunch spot
Finally we found a great place to eat. And for us it was important to find halal food. The personal was really nice and helpful with explain whats included in food. It tasted really good so I will recommended this place to everyone to get a nice snack in NYC. Chicken was so great and dressing tasted great. Great service , clean and sitting place to. Thanks for staff Laura to give a great service very helpful.
Great Food, Great and friendly service. This reminded so much of home. Great tasting food. Everything was so enjoyable and great.
Sometimes all you want is a good place to eat. I loved eating here because the cashiers' service was good with respect to what I wanted to order. The cashier took the time to explain the menu to me and the food was just what I expected. I really liked it.
great food... great price. Was very excited to find a Halal Restautrant in Downtown NYC and it turned out to be great. Doners were authentic. Going there again... will go to one in Canada too. Price was so nominal and serving was great. KCal sandwich and flaming fries were great.
Its really great food, the customer service is great, there’s plenty of seating, and really clean space. Highly recommended!
Quick and fast. They were very nice as well! I got the chicken doner wrap meal. It was very good with the garlic sauce. Def recommend for a quick, easy to go meal!
Came here soooo hungry we demolished the food and it was a really good choice! Loved everything! Forgot to take pictures tho
Loved the vibe inside the restaurant — very warm and welcoming! The team was friendly and attentive, and the service felt genuine. Food arrived in a reasonable time, and those sauce pots really took the flavors to the next level. Every bite was delicious!”
First time eating here and the food was amazing. Great service and super friendly staff. I’m a little picky but Yessica was very patient and super helpful. Can’t wait to be back. 🤙🏻🫵🏻
Hi people. This is really good Kebab. But first. Portions are huge, can’t finish in one round. Lot of meat in box. Kebab in bread Booomb! Like in Germany. Crispy bread, lot of meat, garlic sauce inside too. Can’t expect more. So to be honest, food is great. Fresh and delicious. Price is normal, we have 2024 so $20 cost to turn up your v8 car so 20 for food is good. Nice looking place. No complaints at all. Recommend that place!
The food was amazing and delicious. the lady working there's,was very nice and polite, I believe her name was viany?, excellent work.
Amazing doner kebab wrap and curry fries. Chicken was tender and juicy, while other fillings in the wrap were hearty. Garlic sauce with the fries was perfect. Must try if you are craving doner kebabs in the NYC area. I shared a wrap and fries with another person and we could just finish it!! Staff is very friendly and responded very courteously to questions and any requests
In New York, this is the first place where I tasted kebab that is incredibly similar to the way it tastes in my home country, Sweden and that is delicious! I really enjoy the food.
Stuff very friendly, above and beyond with replacing a soda bottle for a fountain drink as it wasn’t available in the machine, pretty smiles and kind gestures. Love the food very fresh, big portions and a great experience as a New Yorker, will come again and certainly recommend it. Very clean as the restrooms which usually are not to clean, here they were. Loved it!!
A nice spot to grab food alone or with people 👍. There are quite a few seating throughout the restaurant and it's quite cozy. I recommend getting their original doner kebab if you don't know what to try. It was such a packed sandwich with a good amount of doner meat (choice of beef, chicken or mixed), salad veggies & sauce in a big waffle-d pita pocket 😋. Other than that their fries were pretty good too 👌. I got their spicy fries.. (sadly it wasn't spicy... but still good fries). Their fries also came in two other flavors too along with regular. Lastly was the doner box. They have four kinds of these box meal sets. I tried their doner box with fries and salad, and it was so filling. Overall a nice spot to dine at if u crave some doner wraps or kebob 👍. I'd come here again.
Very clean and delicious! Perfect lunch spot
Jennifer was helpful in explaining the menu. We did not feel rushed, and the food came out in a timely manner. Very fresh and delicious. We had a donor and curry fries.
I was exploring best halal donor in town and I found GDK on google. I ordered " the original". It was so delicious and highly recommended to everyone if you want try something delicious.
The kebab was outstanding — perfectly seasoned meat, crisp fresh vegetables, and sauces that tied everything together beautifully. You can taste the quality in every bite. If you’re craving a proper German-style doner, this is the place.
Doritos doner bag was very good and the best I have had and I finished it all
Food is super good and super fast. Wide variety to choose from. The staff is amazing especially Genaro! He was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend trying this spot out!!
Everything was top notch. I was looking for this gem for a while. Finally found it in New York City. Really loved it. Store decoration is very nice. Customer service was great. My friends tried it for the first time and they became fan of the doner kebab. Really appreciate your service and will definitely come back
Ali was great and hospitable. The food was a fun fusion, reminded me of a Belgium shawarma infusion. And my fave was the sandwich as it’s HUGEEEEE. I love their unique sauces, def get extra.
Best restaurant ever!!💯 Their kebab was so mouthwatering and juicy. Also, the taste was super perfect. I have tried kebab in different places but this place is the best!! The behavior of the staffs are also super good and they were friendly.🤍 I will surely visit again with my friends and family!Everyone should visit once and try their kebabs!😋🫶🏻 Definitely recommended!!🌸
Really good food. A bit light on staff. I went on a Thursday night and they had two people preparing food, but only one person (who also was doing stuff in back) to deal with customers. Also DEFINITELY not cheap.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The fries were HOT! Just how I love them. We had the Original kebab meal and it was a very generous serving. Meat and chicken filling was hot and tender. The salad was fresh and delicious. Very happy to recommend this place.
We visited German Doner Kebab next to Herald Square on 6th Avenue and had a great experience! We ordered the Gym Box, Rice Chicken Bowl, and a Wrap — everything tasted awesome, fresh, and flavorful. The service was also excellent — very friendly and quick. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
I have wanted to eat here since I found this place in Scotland last year. It is now open and OMG, I was happy. Chicken Donner’s are the bomb, and getting a Donner Box is incredible without the carbs. I enjoyed the Donner wrap with extra meat. I was very impressed that they were able to wrap it. Seating is minimal, but this is Manhattan. The menu is pretty much the same as in Scotland. Was it worth the wait… YES! Go eat here
We had lunch with two kind of diner box. They were good in taste and satisfying in size. The staff was really kind and polite
Rating includes considerations from price not actual food itself . Everything is awesome except Doner meat. It’s lunch meat quality with fillers like bread. This is my first time I picked the bread instead as it’s soooo good ! I’d suggest to increase the price and improve meat quality . Maybe just open up a prototype restaurant under different name then sell it for 5 dollar more . People will happily pay more for better beef quality .
The food was great for fast food, but a bit underwhelming considering the options in the area. The service was fast and the greeter was courteous, the server was a bit rude and looked like she was having a rough day. Overall I would go back but not often as the value for money is equal to other options in the area for a meal costing roughly $20 for sandwich drink and fries. The spicy fries were exceptional.
I ordered mix original German Doner Kebab. At the beginning of the sandwich meat(Chicken and beef) was little too salty where sauce not meet with meat yet. On the middle everything was great. Through the bottom of the sandwich ingredients were drowning in the sauce. Definitely can be improved but I like it overall.
The food was okay. The service was a bit slow. But as far as I know, this location opened recently. I waited for my order for about 20 minutes, although there was not a big line inside. The crispy burger was good. I ordered takeaway so I didn't have time to take pictures. I think I will go back there again if I'll nearby.
The sandwich is a huge serving size! Very delicious flavoring. Love the garlic sauce as well. Hospitable staff.
Extremely slow, they lacked someone to really pull that kitchen together and get the order ready in a timely manner. How DO I know because the kitchen is open for all to see, which is kind of cool. Everything was tasty, though, and I would visit this location again. I had the doner, wife had the panini, and the kids went with quesdilla. Receipt and photos are included.
Has some bar seating style and some long tables to dine in. No rest room. We had a pleasant encounter with the crew. Self serve for drinks. High chair available. Interior design is appropriate/matches for the resto theme/color Accepts credit/debit. We like the kebab. Would recommend. See images for reference.
Disappointed with Undercooked Chicken I was really looking forward to my meal, but unfortunately, the chicken was noticeably undercooked. Food safety is a top concern, and serving raw or undercooked poultry can be dangerous. While the rest of the dish had potential, the main component being improperly prepared overshadowed the experience. I hope the kitchen takes this feedback seriously and ensures stricter quality control in the future. If improvements are made, I’d be willing to give it another try because the flavors seemed promising. Mocha coffee is pretty good.
I had been highly anticipating this place's opening for a few weeks. Since I left Germany, I was craving some döner in the states. I hoped this place would satisfy that craving. All in all, it gets the job done in terms of giving you an interesting iteration of a döner. The size of the food is nice and it has a lot of filler veggies. The taste was pretty decent and the sauce helps a lot. The meat itself tasted underseasoned, which was disappointing. The restaurant was super packed the day I went and everyone was standing around and ordering from the wall kiosks, waiting for their order to be called for pickup. Since it was the opening week, the chaos is a bit forgivable. There is seating in the restaurant itself. The staff seem a bit lacking in the front, as it is all hands on deck in the kitchen... Overall, the place is a decent pick for lunch and I do think it will get faster and more efficient as they conduct business going forward. The price is a bit of a turnoff compared to what you can get in some other places like the trucks in the area.
huge portions of food and clean environment inside with some seating which is good for midtown. I got mixed meat doner with pickles (extra charge) and garlic sauce (extra charge). Kind of expensive but price is comparable to everything in the area (a CFA meal across the street is about $20+) this wrap was $15 but given the quantity of meat I don’t think it’s too crazy. Overall okay I really had wanted to try this and I guess I wasn’t even sure what to expect but the food was good glad I tried it but am not going to return.
The Doner rice bowl(extra beef) is a bit oily for me but this doesn’t applied to the German Doner kebab (extra beef). The bread goes very well and blend it out very well. They also do buy 1 get 1 free Doner Kebab on Tuesday, it’s one of those places that both me and my coworkers go often.
I had been wanting to try German Doner Kebab for a while, and overall I was pleased. It’s not the best doner I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely good — tasty, juicy, with nice sauces. The place is marked as halal, which is great — it’s nice to see more places like this around. I also want to highlight the service: our food was prepared much faster than I expected, which was very convenient. Overall, a great option for a quick and tasty meal. Recommend!
My wife wasn't able to find the German Doner Kebab (GDK) concession stall when we visited the huge American Dream Mall earlier this afternoon, so we went into their store that we chanced upon at 6th Ave & W 37th St, on the way back to our hotel from the TKTS booth in Time Square. My wife had the GDK classic meal with beef meat, real potato fries & a bottle of water and I had the classic with chicken & beef meat. Both meals were delicious and were just what we both needed for a light evening snack and well worth the wait😋 The store was clean, the staff were very friendly & helpful and there was a glass window next to our table at the back of the store, which let us see into the kitchen area to watch our meals being prepared. We really enjoyed the meal in our first visit to a GDK store and we would happily go back to another GDK store again
Tastes great if you've never had a real Döner. My Döner was sitting under a heat lamp for 5 minutes before being served and was still cold. Expensive and uninspired. Replies from the business are mostly auto-generated. Have Adel's instead.
Not the very friendliest servers but I ordered to go and the food is always so good. Pictured I've got the Chicken Empanadas (received a BOGO offer) and the Garlic Bread. The Chicken Empanadas taste good and a recommended item if want to grab a quick bite. I must admit that the Garlic Bread was to die for, in fact, it might be the best Garlic Bread that I've had in NYC. A plus point is that they open very early, so if you're in the area during that time, then you can grab breakfast from here.
We decided to try this restaurant based on social media recommendations. Arriving less than 30 minutes before closing, we ordered the Boss Box for $20. While the portion was ample for two, the sandwich (Original) was disappointing. The mixed Chicken and Beef meat was overly dry, as if left in the warmer for too long. The lack of sauce in the sandwich was compensated by three inadequate condiments. The thin, light bread didn't enhance the experience. The Cheesy Fries were limp and topped with subpar melted cheese. The rolls (chicken and beef) contained only the shaved meat, which was both excessively salty and greasy. Overall, the meal was intriguing but ultimately unsatisfying.
I haven’t been let down this bad since the Super Bowl, Ringo. Regular Doner sandwich: 3/5 Quality: 4/5 Vibe: Midtown chaos w/limited seating, but comfy enough Destination: no Pro tip: order ahead during the rush. If you start out by the door, the line will take about 20ish - start to finish. Sandwich was well made. Toppings were well executed. Beef only, no lamb and it’s under seasoned. Sauce was underwhelming. Tip #2: ask for extra sauce on side, you’ll need it. This is not on the OG Bereket level of doner Sandwich, but it’s edible. The search for the perfect doner continues…
I liked it, but I wouldn’t say it’s wow! Pricey but it’s a good portion for people with large appetite, it was full of Salad and Pickled Cabbage. I paid $16.85 for a German Kebab and a portion of fries (no drink). As casual dining place, I would have expected to pay less than that French fries 🫣👎🏼 no….they were cold and hard, not sure if they were sitting there for long time, or if that’s the way they serve them. All in all, I will give it another chance
I visited the restaurant around 1:30 PM on the 2/3 and ordered a rice bowl, but after waiting for 30 minutes, I was told it still wasn’t ready because they had run out of rice and were still cooking more(at least for another 15+ minutes). I ended up having to switch to another item. Many of other client also got their order in 20-30+ mins. I’ve been here many times, and it’s always slow. There seem to be enough staff in the kitchen, but they often appear disorganized and unsure of what they’re doing. The menu isn’t complicated at all, so I feel the issue lies in poor workflow design and mismanagement, which leads to these constant delays. That said, the food is actually delicious! I just really hope management can improve operational efficiency. As a fast-food-style restaurant, it shouldn’t take this long to get an order. Please streamline your processes—your food deserves better execution!
Far away from being a real turkish-german döner kebab. Meat was cold. I was there two times and two times out of it either they were out of a sort of bread or out of a sort of meat (beef). That shouldn't be the case at 7 pm. Employees didn't seem very friendly unfortunately and prices are way too high.
If your colon is blocked head here! It was tasty, but I haven't been off the toilet in 24 hours since I had them for lunch yesterday. This was the second visit, it was the same story last time, but I thought it was just a fluke. Last time was for breakfast and they made a wonderful sandwich only to microwave it at the end ruining the brioche bread. Only go here when you need a good BM.
beverage options extremely limited to only coca cola branded sodas, artificial lemonade & dasani at the time of writing this at a 60% mark up from the deli on the corner with more beverage / food variety, the doner is decent, not the best or worst, gets the job done if you're hungry although i'd suggest making the line for halal food for more value and flavour for your dollar :)
Ngl, this was easily one of the worst döner kebabs I’ve ever had. If there were a ‘world’s worst döner kebab’ competition, this place would make the final four. A solid 9/10 tourist trap.
My German heart broke after eating that kebab. I was also the last one in the shop and the meat was there for quite a while. But either way. How you can improve: - Better meat - Mix sauce, Salad and meat properly: Last bites were only salad with sauce and bread. First half of the kebab was only meat with bread, nothing else.
Way too much lettuce. This was to be a LARGE GYM DONER BOX but I got a massive serving of lettuce and cabbage at the top, half the box of which after a while I had to scoop out. Then below the meat another couple layers of lettuce. Give me an option to keep lettuce out (no option and it’s obvious they wanna stuff lettuce not meat). For the price I’m not paying for meat as much as I’m paying for pounds of lettuce. You can’t charge 15$ just to serve someone lettuce.
Meat quality was fine, but the overall experience was disappointing. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and very underprepared for rush hour. They were out of rice and multiple sauces, and we were told it would take 40 minutes for a simple sandwich because they did not have enough ingredients ready. I understand it was crowded, but this level of unpreparedness felt unprofessional.
I walked in wanting to try their food, but it turned out I couldn’t order anything because the registers were broken, and on top of that they were out of fries. The staff was extremely rude. Charging $20 for a meal of this kind is way too much. There are plenty of places nearby where you get much better service for less money.
Genuinely worst kebab and employees i have ever had. Disgusting service and behaviour, the meat wasn’t even cooked and fries were raw. Ridiculous.
I went in this restaurant one day they out of chicken and the next week I arrived in the restaurant at 10:50 pm. They refuse to serve two african american customer ahead of me, the customers called them out on it. After they left they locked the door behind them with me in the restaurant and never addressed me till I asked if they still taking orders. Did they forget I was there, I told them to open the door and left. According to google they don't close to 12am but I was told they were closed at 10:55. Either this place racist why are you close a hour early but still serve non-african american? 1/5 avoid this place.
Horrible food here. Pls Don’t waste your time . . We were really looking forward to come here but unfortunately v disappointed. If I could - I would give “ 0”
This branch is the worst location! The food is tasty but customer service here is awful at this location. I went there to get my online order and the girl that worked there saw me and ignored me without even providing any indication of when she would help me. She basically went back to do what she was doing in the back and after 5 minutes came back and throw my order at me angrily as if I have done something wrong. Wow! I was shocked. This happened around 5 pm evening at the 6th ave location.
So annoying!!! I order OV KEBAB PLANT BASED and I mostly receive the veggie doner. It's not funny anymore, it's so bloody annoying. Deliveroo gave me my money back every time but still I didn't eat when hungry but had to talk to customer service and get my blood pressure rising. UNACCEPTABLE, SORT IT OUT
I can say the worst doner experience: First of all, the employees were very rude, even when I asked something they made a fuss. When you ask for salt, there is no salt. How can there be no salt?? Would you look at the color of the beef doner? What kind of color was this? It tasted like salami, it had no meat taste at all, and it was cold. I don't recommend it, it's a waste of your money!
Beware : SHELLFISH ALLERGY Randomly decided to check out the Allergen Info on their website and their " Rice " contains Crustacean Shellfish .... Someone with a shellfish allergy would never expect this from regular rice or know unless they went on their website.... This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed ! Do better !
Wow almost got punched today by one of the workers in this place because I asked for more sauce and he proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have a lot so he gave me a little. Trust me when I say there wasn’t even a little. The audacity of this guy to go ahead and want to have a fist fight with me after I just ask for something I’m rightfully supposed to ask for since I overpaid for a meal, is unbelievable. On top of that, he’s preparing my food and many others while rubbing his nose and wrapping our food. I have attached his picture for everyone’s convenience. Disgusting doesn’t even cut it. This place, their food is usually great but the staff, HORRIBLE and so STINGY. It’s like they are hoarding the sauce or something. Absolutely disappointing. Zero stars!
Today June 2 .had the worst customer service ever in here . first if I knew I wouldn't order food from here .I placed my order at 3.06 pm While waiting for the bathroom I look at the window which is visible for the public and saw all the items should had been disccard at 2.44pm and this is unacceptable from the nasty staff from today and I bought a coke bottle and told me they need to charge me for a cup and a extra box because they don't have no trays . Those 2 individual was very rude meanwhile I'm a paid customer and been here plenty of time even yesterday.worst staff!! MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE WINDOW AND SEE THE TIME ALL THE ITEMS SHOULD BEEN "DISCARD" BEFORE YOU ORDER!!!!
My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The food was mostly vegetables, and there was no type of meat available at all, which was not what I expected. In addition, the taste was not good and the overall quality of the food was poor. Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant dining experience, and I would not recommend this place.
They were out of chicken, which can be ok, but then they sold me a meal (Sandwich+soda+fries) and their ice machine was operating. I asked them to fix it and they easily just responded by “it’s not working” and didn’t do anything about it. Also, the foos was tasteless, I had a lot of better tasting doner sandwiches before!
Either your take your customers and business seriously or don’t even start. I ordered from Uber eats and this was my experience ; - I think that when you order from applications they don’t care about your order a lot because you are not there on spot to complain. - I ordered half fries and half rice bowl, they added literally 4 pieces of fries ! Are you kidding me at this point ? Half a bowl fries is like 4 small French fries pieces ? - I choosed “their option” to remove the red cabbage and spicy, but the sandwich came full of red cabbage ! Are you kidding me ? It’s your own option, not even an extra request or more from my side. - The offers on Uber eats are fake ! I ordered A meal that costs 51 USD, after the offer it costs 34 USD and guess what ? At checkout they said they need 17 USD extra for ‘ other services ‘ !! I tried to order the same amount of food without the offer and it end up being 50 USD total with ‘ other services and taxes ‘ ,. so the offer is Fake !! They even add bigger porsiyon if you don’t choose the offer, forget about the Buy 1 Get 1 free , it’s a scam. Absolutely a 0 star worth experience. I know you guys can do better , but this specific experience is 0 stars , sorry !
I ordered the bowl, thinking it’ll be like gyro halal but it was the oilest, most nauseating, low quality meal. For $15 you’re better off getting it from a cart or the countless other eateries that sell bowls, but are better quality. I feel sick after that.. 🤮🤢
I had one of the worst dining experiences ever at this place. To start, they don’t even provide napkins to customers. When I politely asked the cashier about it, she literally said, “I don’t know, that’s not my job.” When I then asked the manager, his response was even worse: he claimed that customers “abuse” napkins, so they just don’t offer them. Seriously? The problems didn’t stop there. They advertise their döner as 100% beef, but what they serve is clearly a mix of beef and turkey, and it barely tastes like meat at all. It’s bland, low-quality, and absolutely not what they claim. The restroom was another disaster: • No hanger to hang your coat, so you have to juggle everything. • No paper towels either — just another basic necessity missing. But the biggest issue was the manager’s attitude. When I calmly raised my concerns, he acted defensive and confrontational, almost like he was ready to start a fight right there in front of other customers. He didn’t care about their presence, didn’t care about good service, and certainly didn’t care about resolving the issues. Overall, terrible food, terrible service, and shockingly unprofessional management. I absolutely do not recommend this place. There are far better options nearby where basic respect — and napkins — are still a thing.
