L'Angeletto Albee Square Reviews
Excellent past and amazing owner
Absolutely delicious! Loved it so much we went back for our wedding anniversary!
I love coming to l’angeletto! Such surprisingly incredible Italian food on a quiet stretch of 2nd Avenue. Their pasta is outstanding and they have gluten free spaghetti to substitute any dish which my date loved. Very nice and attentive service, highly recommend and will continue to go back.
Really fabulous Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, with sizeable portions. The staff very clearly cared a lot - the servers went out of their way to make suggestions, the chef came out to check everything was ok, and at the end of the night they insisted on giving us a free shot of homemade limoncello! Really great place that we could not believe was not more full on a Friday night.
This place is a true hidden gem. Never too busy, always a free table, cozy atmosphere, lots of specialties, real Italian food. It’s in my regular rotation for a reason. Five stars!
Food was delicious - our party of 6 all chose different items and all were happy. We made reservations at the wrong location and they still made accommodations to seat us. Save room for dessert.
L’Angeletto is a hidden gem, new on the scene in Gramercy Park. They are not new to fine Italian dinning however; their first restaurant bearing the same name is a mainstay of the upper east side. Let’s get the most important bit out of the way first — the food is absolutely delicious. You will find Italian staples on the menu, as well as a rotation of specials that will tempt you to leave the menu every night. Their new wine selection is robust, and I anticipate their small but homey bar being a home for local winos. Some of my personal favorites: lobster ravioli, fried calamari, Cacio e Pepe, rack of lamb, the lemon sausage spaghetti, and you HAVE to try the moose - also be sure to ask about Willy’s special night caps, his Foggy Burboun is a must have. What drives me to write this review however is their team; everyone from the chef to the maître d is engaging, warm, and extremely welcoming. I strongly encourage anyone in the area looking for an upscale but familial dinning experience to stop your search at L’Angeletto.
This restaurant is super worth it. The food was amazing and the service was even better. I had the risotto... omg... so good. the chef gave us a tiramisu on the house.. amazing. They’re in the works to get their liquor license. Trust me, this will be a hot spot.
I had a great tune at this place. Even during these difficult times they did a wonderful job with their outside dining area. Very comfortable, delicious food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend to go try it out.
Since my trip to Rome 12 years ago, I have been searching for the perfect Roman-style carbonara up and down Ny/NJ, and I finally found it here while honeymooning! One of the happiest and best meals of my entire life
Excellent restaurant in Gramercy! I’ve been here several times and the service is great, almost as good as the food! 10/10 recommend for a delicious Italian dining experience. Oh and they have us limoncello after our meal!
True Italian done to perfection. This is not the typical cookie cutter Italian joint. This is spectacular food, obviously cooked with love, presented with passion, and served with joy and care. Stop your search and head to L’Angeletto now.
This place is amazing. I dont know what to order and the chef decides what’s best to start, eat and end the night, and I had the best tipsy night ever. Surely I’ll visit again to try your other menu
Went a few weeks back to this resturaunt. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The service was top notch and they have us limoncello at the end of the meal. I would definitely recommend
Unbelievable old school Roman food, by a delightful, friendly chef from Rome. Channels old world vibes in the best of ways from the setting, music, and cuisine. A true gem. Go when you can!
Amazing service, the staff is incredibly nice and very patient. The food was really good, and the chef came out to greet us. I seriously seriously recommend.
Amazing food with safe and feel good atmosphere. Mona and the Chef are delightful to get to know and your the experience is epic
This place is EXCEPTIONAL. Their Roman Pastas are life changing, can't recommend them enough. They're delivering during the covid crisis !
Most incredible pasta. Great food and wine recommendations from our server.
A great midtown spot with delicious pasta and reliable service. Be sure to get some of their house-made limoncello after you eat.
Amazing food and service!
Great spot and great service.
Mona provides great customer service she is warm and kind we had the fettuccine with lamb ragu and it was excellent highly recommend this place
Great food and reasonable wine selection. Friendly service. The restaurant was not loud like so many others. Will return.
This cozy Italian restaurant serves delicious food. We've tried the salads, soups, and pasta dishes (so far). One dish I had to order again was the Tiger Shrimp with sundried tomatoes and chili. Everything we've eaten there is fresh, flavorful and served in generous portions. The cocktails are perfectly poured and so delicious! We found it easy to get a table and found the waitstaff very well-mannered and accommodating. Highly recommend.
Just had a luncheon for 18 people and the food and service was absolutely 5 Star! My group was a bunch of very experienced New York Italian food lovers and everyone raved from start (appetizers & wine) to finish (desserts). Service was impeccable and prices are fair. How this place isn't mobbed every day is beyond me...
I had the squid ink pasta with fruit de mare. It was Thee Best I ever had.
We were not familiar with this spot, but we were able to get a last minute reservation and we’re glad we did! Nice atmosphere, good service - efficient and attentive but not overbearing. The food was very good overall. The fennel, walnut and Roquefort salad was not what I expected, but it was excellent. The traditional Roman bucatini was outstanding - the pasta was perfect and the sauce was flavorful with just the right consistency. The limoncello nightcap was a nice touch. We will be back!
The food was phenomenal, I had the chickpea gnocchi and I can’t wait to go back. What left the best taste in my mouth was the service and attentiveness of everyone. We waited maybe 5 min for a table and the chef came out and gave us a glass of champagne while we waited. All around 10/10
Lovely Italian restuarant with great atmosphere. The homemade pasta was delicious. Thank you L'Angeletto!
Absolutely delicious food and outstanding service. We shared rigatoni carbonara and steak: the fresh pasta was a revelation, and the steak was cooked perfectly. What a nice touch, the chef coming out to chat and share his homemade limoncello. L'angeletto is a warm, friendly neighborhood restaurant with a classic menu and elegant service that rivals any upscale NYC Italian restaurant.
Outstanding dining experience at L’Angeletto. The outside seating area is welcoming and comfortable. The wait staff is friendly and engaging. And our dinners and dessert were not only flawless, but also had surprising flairs that made for a memorable and delicious meal.
Fantastic experience last night at L'Angeletto - waitstaff was kind and timely. Also appreciate the inclusion of a special that was vegetarian (didn't get it, but it's the thought that counts!). Lots of vegetarian-friendly options, absolutely amazing bread, and really good limoncello! Got the chickpea gnocchi and highly recommend it!
I just had a wonderful dinner at this new restaurant near Gramercy Park. We sat outside - and even though it was raining a bit, the outdoor seating is under scaffolding. The food and service were wonderful - and the chef, from Rome, came out to visit with the guests. It's a wonderful addition to the neighborhood during these difficult times. I wish them well!
Came here for my wife's 30th birthday and was served by Alfredo amongst other waitstaff Great service, low-key hidden gem. Ordered the bruschetta platter, carbonara, lasagna and branzino. Overall great experience as both a tourist from Toronto and a patron for my wife's birthday. Highly recommended
Incredible authentic Italian restaurant! Lovely staff and ambiance. Have come here two weeks in a row for the bucatini - DELICIOUS. Pasta is made fresh & the wine is amazing. Highly recommend.
A tasty beef carpacio that pared well with the glass of pinot noir. Main course, veal shank, always delicious and tasty. A local gem that you shouldnt miss
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the entire city. Warm atmosphere, fantastic food and AMAZING service! Thank you, Austin for the true NY experience! This is my top recommendation if you're looking for best in the city!
A real gem. Fantastic food and service. The Carbonara was excellent and so was the Saltimboca. Highly recommend. The owner Austino (?) was very welcoming.
What should have just been a quick snack, turned out to be the best pasta we had in all of New York! Try the original Roman Pasta, coming from Europe I can tell you they are amazing and very authentic. That perfect acidity and consistency… Yum! The price was totally modest and also the staff is super friendly! We wanted to share the dish and they split it in the kitchen already with no resentment. Unfortunately it was our last day in NYC but we hope to come back soon!
There are numerous italian restaurants in NYC! However, this place is unbelievable nice! The atmosphere is great since it is quiet and ilumination is great with the aid of the cozy lamps. Food portion is great and presentation is very nice! Taste is excellent! (I LOVED MY RISOTTO) Prices are very fair! I strongly recommend this restaurant without reservations!
What a fantastic place! My friends and I had a lovely NYE dinner here lastnight. Everything from the cocktails, wine, appetisers, pastas, and dessert was amazing! Authentic Italian food and warm hospitality throughout the whole evening. The service was incredible and overall one of the best experiences I’ve had in NYC. We were treated so kindly by the staff. Highly recommend!
Excellent Italian food and attentive service. Great evening at L'Angeletto. We had the burrata and prosciutto appetizer. Burrata was fresh with perfect fluffy interior. The pasta with sausage main was also very tasty. The main reason of my visit, to have Ossobuco didn't disappoint. Good piece of veal shank tender and cooked to perfection with plenty of marrow to savor. On top a hearty tomato sauce. I would have liked to have a marrow spoon but I've managed with the knife to get all that goodness out of the bone. The Chianti classico by the glass was very good. Service was attentive and the cold Limoncello a great ending to a very enjoyable meal.
Chef Davide and the L'Angeletto team went out of their way to make our wedding day special, and for that, we cannot thank them enough! Restaurants are so challenged right now—yet even while adhering to the city's and state's strict regulations, L'Angeletto was still able to provide us with the most delightful "smallabration." They even decorated for us. Our families continue to rave about their delicious meals and the wonderful service. Please support this true gem of a restaurant!
the owner was extremely nice food was great and we got to try they're homemade limoncello on the house! we'll be back :)
This is a truly special place. My daughter and I ate here every weekend while spending 5 weeks in NY for her summer intensive. The food was delicious and the service amazing. Cant wait to visit again soon.
Very good authentic Italian food, I enjoyed their Roman pastas. Their breads were fresh too. We were with large group and staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Food always outstanding Service warm & attentive Friendly atmosphere Love the spaghetti with lemon sauce & sausage and L’Angeletto salad amazing
This is a fantastic restaurant. They helped me with my food intolerance and guided me in choosing the best dishes. First, they serve amazing warm bread with a sauce on the side and olives. Then I had the carpaccio with arugula and Grana Padano — it’s to die for! After that, I chose the branzino with vegetables. To finish, I had the chocolate lava cake without ice cream because I couldn’t eat it. The wine was an amazing Gavi di Gavi. Austin, the owner, is fantastic and super friendly. You must try it! They also have gluten-free options just ask!
I stopped in just planning to have a mimosa and ended up having such a wonderful experience. The owner was so kind and welcoming, and you can really feel how much care and pride goes into everything here. The peach Bellini was absolutely amazing! Perfectly refreshing and made with attention to detail. Everyone was so warm and genuine, and the whole atmosphere felt special. I’ll definitely be coming back soon! Thank you for everything!
Food here was amazing and service was even better. Our server Austin was the best and made us feel so welcome at the restaurant. We got bruschetta, codfish, and the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe which was so good. Would definitely recommend!!
The service is warming. We keep coming back and they recognize us since the second time. The food is truly amazing. It always feels home cooked and everything is so fresh. Specially mention for the post-meal limoncello.
Everything here was delicious. Amazing soft focaccia, marinara sauce was delicious and I don’t even like marinara. Squid ink pasta is my go to dish.
Fantastic Italian restaurant here in Manhattan! Atmosphere here is amazing, food is even better! To start, both pasta dishes were fantastic. For a first, I had the lamb ragu and the sausage & lemon dish. Both were absolutely delicious. Both had amazing flavors and were beautifully made. Then for a second, I got the lamb shank which was amazing. Some of the best lamb shank I’ve had in NYC. The tomatoes on top were to die for. They had so much flavor and went extremely well with the lamb. To end, the tiramisu was amazing as well. All of these dishes in combination with starter bread (which i actually didn’t like too much) was definitely more than enough food. I’d recommend this place to all!
1- Food = 5/5 Excellent. All of our food was served hot and delicious . Dishes were all a decent size. Drink were made quickly and properly 🍸🍸🍸 2 - Service = 5/5 Excellent. Service with a smile. Never felt rushed and our water glass was always filled and our table was always clean. 3 - Ambiance = 5/5 Excellent. Beautiful, well spaced dining area with ample space for guests. 4 - Reservations = 5/5. Excellent. Using resy for reservations. 5 - Value = 5/5 Excellent. We tried this restaurant a couple of times during the Covid -19 lock downs when the mayor and governor tried destroying the restaurants in N.Y.C but this restaurant was able to withstand the pressure and assaults when so many other restaurants caved and folded. Fairly priced for manhattan location, as price meets portions. Would definitely recommend and return.
Can't say " this is the best Italian food ever "! Because I haven't been to every single Italian restaurant but it is no doubt a must to go an enjoy when in NY. Both service and food were amazing. Not only they gave us recommendations but they weren't on your face all the time, lime many places do. We had: RIGATONI ALLA CARBONARA Pasta: was fresh. Sauce: was just perfect on flavor. Amount: Just the right portion. Zucchini, Pear, Spinach Salad. Which was made with simple ingredients but they were fresh and crisp. Bransino Fish:BRANZINO ALLA LIVORNESE This is a type of Mediterranean seabass fish, with an bechamel type of olive juice and lime sauce and topped with kalamanta olives and grill tomato. The sides had that charcoal simple and smoke taste that on point veggies should have. Drinks were good. Thank you so much to the staff and chef for making a NYC stay taste delicious. If you get limoncello ask for sparkling water .. the combo is good !
This is one of those places you almost hesitate to post about because you don’t want it to get so popular you can no longer get a table…! Fantastic food (highly recommend the spaghetti with tomatoes & basil and the lasagna), only outmatched by the incredible service and hospitality. Special shout out to Austin, who makes the dining experience truly special! Don’t skip the bread - the fresh baked focaccia is a buttery, biscuit-like take (and maybe the best bread I’ve eaten in the United States). Why fight the crowds all over Manhattan where the social media is better than the food itself? Walk into this place and I promise you’ll want to return (we did, two nights in a row!). Long story, short - you want to eat here!
Had lunch here last Sunday with friends and we had the coziest time. We had a proper conversation as the restaurant wasn’t packed along with delicious dishes. Loved the Bucatini all'Amatriciana and the Carbonara. Service was impeccable with the most attentive staff. Overall, a lovely neighborhood gem.
Amazing service. Amazing food. Took my daughter here, and was treated with nothing but respect. Even the chef came out to ask us how everything was, and thanked us for coming. I will definitely visit again, when I'm back in the area.
One of my fave restaurants this weekend! The pasta was amazing, highly recommend the ricotta ravioli and carbonara. They even have the fancy Coca Cola bottles. The inside of the restaurant is nice, lit well and not too loud or crowded. Our server was wonderful, did a great job checking in with us!

Wonderful restaurant. You feel like you are in the owner's home. The wait staff is extremely friendly and the owner clearly takes pride in every aspect of the restaurant. They also offer gluten free pasta. Wines are reasonably priced as are the homemade pastas.
We came on the last night of our trip to NY, and we wish we had come sooner! Everything was amazing, and the service was incredible. The lamb was delicious. The pastas were fresh and tasty. The desserts were fabulous. Would absolutely recommend and will be back on our next visit to NYC.
Been going there since it opened. Including during the pandemic. Love the food and staff. Not noisy, nice lighting, music just right, comfy seating. Drinks are great. Your dishes may take a while, but that's reflected in the way they arrive. No microwave Costco stuff there. I usually go for the carpaccio and then the lobster ravioli. And the staff are dear. I walk by twice a day on my way to/from the office. If they are around, I always get a big hello and a wave.
The menu is a true ode to Italian cuisine. Handmade pasta, the freshest seafood, aromatic herbs and spices - each dish is prepared with love and skill. Wine list impresses with its variety: from classic Tuscan wines to rare varieties from Sicily. Tiramisu deserves special attention - delicate, airy, with bright coffee flavor. It is the perfect ending to a dinner that will remain in your memory for a long time. Prices correspond to quality: L'Angeletto is a place for special occasions, when you want to pamper yourself and your loved ones.
Hosted a large gathering of family and friends today at L’Angeletto and enjoyed a truly remarkable experience. Austin was very helpful in planning the menu and provided our guests with a many choices. As always food is outstanding, the atmosphere is quiet, comfortable and welcoming. We will return to this neighborhood gem frequently.
Definitely a MUST! The food was absolutely delicious and every dish exceeded our expectations. The service was truly outstanding, special thanks to Agustino for going above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing flavors and exceptional hospitality!
we wanted authentic italian without going all the way to little italy, we got it here! good, service, and ambiance were delicious. The limoncello was delicious!!!! 5 stars!

A real gem. Fantastic food and service. The Carbonara was excellent and so was the Saltimboca. Highly recommend. The owner Austino (?) was very welcoming.

One of our go to places for dinner. Great service. Good food. Not too noisy. You'll have a good time. The veal chops are excellent 👌
Pasta dishes were pretty good, especially the fettuccine with lamb ragu. Service was a bit slow outside though.
Graciously welcomed as walk-in guest. As I do enjoy a good recommendation, I kindly asked the server this. There were traditional pastas that I never heard of and when inquiring server was able to answer in detail and I was pleased with his explanations of the dish differentials. Upon his recommendation I ordered a tradicionel past that consisted of pork pieces in a tomatoe type sauce paired with a California pinot noir. I enjoyed my dish as well as the service and would definitely come back again for the service, warmth and food.
Overall decent Italian restaurant but nothing exceptional. They have a small selection of housemade pasta which is pretty solid, their fish dishes are a little weirdly put together, bread was a bit too hard. Wouldn’t go again given that there are better places in the city but no regret
Had a fantastic pre-marathon dinner at L’Angeletto! The owner was incredibly warm and hospitable, treating us to limoncello and biscotti, both absolutely delicious. I had the lobster ravioli special of the day, and it was perfection. We were a party of 10, and everyone raved about their meals. The atmosphere was cozy, the service exceptional, and the food authentically Italian. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience!

3/5 for the food; too much salt and garlic powder. Ambience 4/5. But maybe I was unlucky, I may go back to try another meal.
Service was good, food came out pretty fast, and the pasta dishes were decent. However, the appetizers weren't great. Most noticeably, the shrimps weren't very fresh and has a slightly mushy texture. The ceasar salad was on the greasy side but lacks flavour.
No offense to this modest neighborhood Italian restaurant, but the 4.7 it holds at the time of this review is totally unfounded. The shrimp and beans (an appetizer) were significantly overcooked, with the beans exhibiting the texture of having been on high heat for far too long. Shrimp were not fresh. The caesar salad — recommended by the kind waiter despite being off menu — totally lacked flavor, with lifeless, sparse dressing. The rigatoni carbonara was the best dish, but still lacking. The lemon sauce spaghetti had no discernible lemon, really was more of a carbonara as well. The osso bucco was fair: a generous portion but layered with a heap of relatively flavorless tomato. The wait staff was modest and decent, no fault of theirs. This may be a good spot to drink quietly in a somewhat less trafficked corner of the city. But there is better pasta, gambino, and osso bucco elsewhere.
Portions are on the large size, about 1.25 servings per order. Food was good and you could tell that they take care in preparing it, but somehow did not seem fresh. Not bad if your in the area, but not a place that I would travel for.
Food is worth the price . Comfortable with a noise level suitable for conversation . Staff friendly . The evening we went in a group of four service was glacial .
Very long waiting times, even informing we were in a hurry. Later, they informed us the kitchen had just 2 people working on. It was the Angelettos near E 47th. It was 4th. Of July and we explained we needed to leave soon to see the fire works.
Friendly service, but the quality of the food/drinks was mediocre and the vibe is tired. They also automatically include 20% gratuity but don’t tell you they do. There are many better Italian options in the neighborhood.
Came here Sunday evening for dinner date… the server waitress were acting like they didn’t want to serve us? I don’t know what it was the vibe was completely off … who serves bread without butter or offering butter? Then when brought to the waiters attention for the lack of service he said we should ask for butter with the bread? been to plenty of Italian style restaurants throughout nyc… and never experienced this type of lack of customer service? The waitress look like she didn’t want to come near our table? To ask us is we wanted to drinks? So We got up and left. I don’t know what was wrong but I won’t come back here again ever just rude.
Absolutely horrible service. We had a reservation for 8 people. We waited over 30 minutes for a table and barely anyone talked to us. When we did talk to people they kept passing us around to different staff. Three groups behind us left because it was taking too long. One group of 2 in front of us got seated but the table was missing a chair and it took 10 minutes before they were seated at a new table with 2 chairs. They finally started putting a table of 8 together and a group behind us (with a reservation 20 minutes after ours) rushed the table and sat down first. The staff did NOTHING when we complained. We left and had to find a place nearby that could seat 8. Truly felt disrespected by the staff. It’s such a poorly run restaurant. Also, the entire time we were there, we didn’t see a single table get served any food.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant for our last Christmas party this monday. The waiter was rude, and the food was mediocre at best. Waiter complained to our party while taking food orders, because two people wanted to share their appetizer and entree. Told us our group of 10 our order of 4 appetizers for the table was late, because of them. Mind you it was two orders of calamari and 2 orders of the burrata. How can you blame the customer for that type of order, just because they wanted to share? And their entree was suppose to come at the same time as everyone else not before hand. He also had the audacity to reprimand a customer for not complaining sooner about her entree, full plate of black linguini clams and shrimp was still sitting there. We had to repeatedly ask for drinks, and water to be refilled. Upon arrival had to ask for the food and drink menu as well. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
By far the worse and unprofessional service that we have received at a restaurant. It was hostile environment with our waiter. It started with the waiter rolling his eyes at me, waiter had no manners, was super rude to my wife as we order our drinks and appetizers. Lastly, when into my wife lap and snatch the menu from her because she was biting a piece of bread and he was worry that the menu will get dirty. We felt attacked and harassed by the waiter. We did not hesitate and got our 2 kids ready and left before the appetizer even arrived. It was horrible experience. This event occurred 12/30 at about 6:30pm. It did not appeared that there was no manager on duty. I hope the owner or restaurant manager gets to read this.
