La Bottega Alessandria Reviews
Extremely courteous and welcoming staff. The pizza is excellent quality, tasty, and well-prepared. An ideal place to spend a pleasant evening with friends. Highly recommended. Extremely courteous and welcoming staff. The pizza is of excellent quality—flavorful and well-prepared. An ideal place to enjoy a pleasant evening with friends. Highly recommended.
Excellent raw materials, excellent and kind staff availability, it's a shame that the place is a bit small but it's worth it, both for the pizza and for the farinata (special).
For generations, the shop has been offering traditional pan pizza, but you can also choose a larger size, cooked on a griddle. They have an electric oven. The farinata is fantastic!
The guy serving your table is honest and incredibly attentive to every detail. The pizzas are excellent and well-topped, and the farinata is exceptional. You guys are great! Keep it up.
Old place but pizza and Farinata are in their top level
In my personal opinion, it's the best pizza in Alessandria... I've been a customer for many years, and they've always met my expectations: crispy, rich pizza with a unique texture. They used to offer takeout desserts, including a spectacular tiramisu, but they've since shifted to specializing in savory dishes. The farinata is also very good. They also use specialty flours, like kamut. It's always a pleasure to stop by. There's a lovely back room for tastings, and an outdoor seating area right in front of the place.
The pan pizzas are excellent, as is the farinata. I think they're the best in Alessandria. The place is dated. Great prices.
Very good pizza, quality ingredients and a lot of choice on the menu
A guaranteed home-away-from-home experience. Very good pizza and farinata without any frills. Impeccable service, especially for takeout orders. Perfect for a quick, delicious, and easily digestible pizza to enjoy on the couch. Traditional ingredients, but a wide selection. Recommended.
Alessandria's historic pizzeria stands out for its signature "pizza al tegamino" (pan pizza)—though I personally prefer the regular, "grilled" pizza. Kamut flour dough is also available. The farinata (chickpea flour pancake) is excellent. The friendly staff, the cozy, family atmosphere, and the quality of the ingredients make it an ideal place for an evening with friends. In times of social distancing, the only option is to opt for takeout, perhaps with a bottle of wine or beer.
Considered with some satisfaction as a "DOC" restaurant by residents in the Pista area, "La Bottega" began as a takeaway pizzeria in 1983, later adding an indoor space (there are limited seating, so reservations are recommended on busy winter evenings) and a summer outdoor terrace. The pizza selection is extensive, and there are two types: pan-fried, with a smaller diameter, and grilled, with a "standard" diameter, so called because of the stamped pattern on the pans in which they are cooked. The menu includes gluten-free options. The farinata is a must-try, truly excellent, and sells like hotcakes despite the two ovens constantly busy cooking two pans at a time. Pizza prices are in line with the average for other pizzerias in Alessandria, while the farinata is slightly more expensive than average (though given the quality, I don't think anyone has complained so far). The service is always courteous and available for any type of customization of ingredients, and, considering the number of customers, quite fast. Its location is in the center of the old "Pista" neighborhood, so there is no dedicated parking, other than the spots that become available in the adjacent streets, so keep that in mind. In conclusion: 5 stars (ample) for quality and service, 3.5 stars for accessibility, with an average of 4 stars overall. Definitely recommended, whether you want to take home an excellent pizza and farinata or just stop by for a sit-down dinner.
We waited outside for our friend to eat our pizzas in the comfort of his home, so I can't say anything about the place. The only thing I've never been a fan of is the smell of fried food, which unfortunately in some places (like this one) is quite invasive. A couple of gusts of hot air were enough to make us realize I won't be coming back until they replace the airflow with some good professional extractors. As for the pizzas and farinata, nothing to complain about.
The pizza is good, but the farinata, in my opinion, is too thick. This dish's tradition dictates that it be much thinner than theirs, though the flavor is worth it. Overall, the prices are slightly above average.
The first time it was undercooked but still edible. The second time it was still raw underneath and I couldn't eat it. The farinata tastes like nothing. Never again.
Probably the locals are used to this type of pizza because there was a lot of take-out coming and going. For me, it has nothing to do with the pizza I like, I didn't find the taste of the classic dough, the ingredients on the pizza were very light... for me, it's not pizza, but this is my personal opinion.
There's nothing to complain about regarding the quality and tastiness of the pizza. The farinata, however, was too dry and thick. However, considering I ordered three very average take-out pizzas (marinara diavola and pugliese with a little cheese) and three slices of farinata, I think €30 is a bit too much.
