Wow! What a gem! I'm so thrilled that I found this place! Amazing, authentic Mexican food and great selection of interesting, complex mezcal options as well as amazing cocktails. As a frequent traveler to Mexico, I know and love Mexican cuisine and this place is the real deal. Valentina, the owner, is from Mexico and has transported the best of Mexican food, drinks, style and hospitality right here to Granada. Don't miss trying the cochinita pibil, mole and tinga. And the ceviche was fabulous as well! Truly a special spot and I'm already planning my next visit.
Highly recommended! If you haven't experienced mezcalitas before, this is the place to go. The owner is exceptionally friendly and generously treated us to their classic tapas. The guacamole, pico de gallo, mole, and cochinito pibil at this establishment should set the benchmark for your next visit to another Mexican joint – they are truly exceptional. Don't be discouraged by the prices listed on the website; the owner assured us that this will be fixed soon. Once you get there, you'll find a separate menu for both beverages and food, which is not only diverse but also very reasonably priced. The ambiance at the market is incredibly warm and friendly– a definite must visit if you find yourself in Granada, I know I will.

This bar is like a colorful sparkling oasis! I came for the mezcal which I didn’t know much about. The owner is really knowledgeable about mezcals and I ended up tasting a few. I love the drink! However, they also have different really nice and tasty Margaritas and some delicious tapas. I tried the ceviche and the pico de gallo and I’ll come back for just those tapas.
This morning, we visited Mercado San de Agustín, a charming food market in Granada. Just recently, we had explored the larger Mercado Central in Valencia. Although smaller, Mercado San de Agustín surprised us with a delightful find: a Mexican store run by Valentina and Calvin, arguably the friendliest couple in Granada. We had a beer infused with Mezcal. They generously offered us a plate of nachos topped with guacamole and Chicken Tinga, accompanied by Pico de Gallo. But the standout experience was trying fried grasshoppers, known as “chapulines” in Mexico – a crispy and intriguing delicacy. Valentina enthusiastically shared her knowledge about the agave-based spirit, Mezcal, and even showed us a fascinating book on the subject. Our conversation with Calvin meandered through topics like travel to India, meditation, and Vipassana. It was a heartwarming interaction that made the visit to the food market truly memorable. Their passion and love for what they do were evident in every detail. This little food store is a gem that has etched itself in our memories. Valentina and Calvin are a remarkable couple; if it were possible, I'd give them a 10-star rating for their warm hospitality and unique culinary experience.

such a fun place to stop in for food and drinks. the basic menu is great- containing classic crowd pleasers like cochinita pibil, chicken tinga and mole. their guacamole is excellent and spicy and there's often a plato del dia like tamales, pozole or ceviche (my personal favorite). the owners are the best and can attend to you in both english and spanish and it seems to be a magical place for meeting new people; many of whom have become actual friends. definitely my go-to for a midday meetup with friends.

I brought my buddy, visiting from South Texas to La Valentona to meet Valentina and Calvin (hands-on owners and operators). We each ordered a different mezcal flight and ate guacamole and smoked crickets while our flights were prepared for lift off. Valentina skillfully navigated us through the varietals of agave and the processes involved in the production of tequila and mezcal. Sipping our way through the flights, Calvin prepared us a couple of margaritas and a healthy portion of Cochinita pibil. The tapas and drinks are spot and Valentina and Calvin are sublime hosts and passionate agave ambassadors of Europe. This place can’t be missed while visiting Granada.

Visiting from the states and a HUGE mezcal fan I was delighted to see this little spot in the market. Valentina helped me pick out a great pour served in a cute little dried out seed and then made me a fantastic michelada to wash it down. I love finding little spots like this when I travel and it reminds me of home when I was mixing at the tequila bars.

Great place to be. All tasty and fine. Best music in this Mercado. With few neighbors they are often open till late night. Sometimes Dj's are showing up. Also best craft beer from Granada "La Gavach" is served here🤙
The Mexican food is authentic and amazing. The mayan tacos and ceviche were both favorites of ours. And the margaritas are one of a kind. Plus - you won't find more kind and accomodating people than the owners. Highly recommend a visit if you're in Granada!

Absolutely fantastic spot! I was in Oaxaca about 6 months prior to arriving in Granada and La Valentona's made me feel like I was back in Oaxaca! The food, drinks, spirit, and most importantly - Mezcal, was all very delightful. I was studying at Carmen de las Cuevas and brought numerous students to La Valentona's and they all loved it! This will be my first stop next time I return to Granada!

Everything about this venue is awesome. Whether you come for a drink or the food (and even better both) you won’t be disappointed. Valentina and Calvin are awesome. They are great hosts. The prepare incredible drinks and cook authentic Mexican food. This is a “must stop” if you’re in the area.
Mexican food is one of my favorite cuisines and I eat it frequently in Mexico and California. The guacamole, chicken and pork tacos were so delicious and authentic. The mezcalita was yummy and presented with a fun garnish. Valentina is a wonderful host. If we were staying longer we’d visit again.

Increíble sitio. Lo encontramos por casualidad y pasamos un rato genial probando el mezcal, incluidos los cocktails de sandía y piña (buenísimos!). La dueña, Valentina, que es majísima, nos contó la historia de cómo se elabora esta deliciosa bebida. Probamos unas tapas de queso de oveja y de guacamole y pico de gallo que estaban increíbles. Además, la decoración es preciosa!

Undoubtedly a little piece of Mexico in the heart of Granada. I run out of adjectives to describe it. It is a real journey of sensations and flavors in all its proposals. And Valentina and Angela are both very charming. In this order, since its opening, the must-visits in Granada are now: The Alhambra, The Albaicín, La Valentona (and if you haven't overdone it with mezcal, also The Cathedral, ☺️!). Sin duda un trocito de México en el corazón de Granada. Me faltan adjetivos para describirlo. Es un verdadero viaje de sensaciones y sabores en todas sus propuestas. Y Valentina y Ángela son encantadoras. Por este orden, desde su apertura, en Granada las visitas obligadas son: La Alhambra, El Albaicín, La Valentona (y si no te has pasado con el mezcal, también La Catedral ☺️).
