glad this place was able to pivot into a Japanese grocery store/ amazing takeout spot. might be the best tonkatsu & karaage I've had in the city.

Amazing! A very insightful creative spin on Japanese food. Delicious every time. Always a new dish on the menu, never boring. With a classic interior space. A true gem in our neighborhood.

A nice little spot in Bed Stuy. The food is rather fusion than entirely Japanese, but its amazing. Its more of a sharing style where you get smaller portions. The wine is great too!

It's rare that I have a meal so good I can't stop thinking about when I'll have it again. This place is a little gem. It's a quiet restaurant with romantic powdery-looking walls glowing in the candlelight, perfect for date night. The Grilled Kuro Edamame flecked with chili powder and Korean pepper is addictive, the Buttered Enoki Mushrooms come in a pool of the most delicious sauce, and the Pork Buns are soft fluffy white buns encasing the richest slabs of pork ever. They were decadent and not for the faint of heart. I highly recommend this spot, it still seems to be a little secret!

C
Christina Fusco

I've been here for their bento takeout, and it's all so delicious. I frequently come by just to get an onigiri (rice triangle) snack before my train ride. Love this place and soo much needed in this area!

Not only one of the best Japanese restaurants in Brooklyn but even one of the best overall experiences I've had in Brooklyn in a long time. Great menu, good drinks, friendly staff and Great owners. I will be back often

This is an incredible spot for the area, nothing else like it. Having a studio building over here you get used to trash deli food so this spot has been my saving grace. The katsu chicken sandwich is crazy and their snack selection is unreal.

E

This is a hidden gem that seems to be under the radar of major food reviewers. Freaking delicious and very reasonable. Highly recommend the chawan-mushi, kaki butter, roasted saba and mentai zucchini pappardelle...if it's on the menu of course!

One of the best meals in the city, hands down. Beats a lot of Michelin starred restaurants and places with thrice the price tag. Nothing I say will do the food justice. Just go.

Seriously some of the best food I’ve ever had. The chef was very nice and gave us some extras at the end of our meal. Worthy of a Michelin star, seriously.

This is the most understated restaurant in nyc, great food and amazing staff. Its across from some kind of odd factory and in a run down area but they have the best quality I've seen in a while. Simply amazing

It's delightful. Not cheap, but very exquisite. And yet still not pretentious. The food is intriguing and the service was great. I really enjoyed this place. Nothing like it in the area.

This is a small non descript place with only 2 staff members who are thr co owners, chefs, waiters, and hosts. Food was very good, especially the chicken livers, which come from chickens butchered daily.

One of the hidden gem of NYC (not just Brooklyn). Food is always amazing, all of it. This place can get busy quickly but the meal is well worth it.

Wow, what a unique dining experience. Small plates served in a cozy historic locale. All the food was delicious, and much of it was unique. Only two people working inside, but the spacing in between bites created a great atmosphere for dinner conversation. Wonderful for a date or a group dinner.

A

My husband and I go to this restaurant so often, we've become regulars. The menu changes everyday, and some how ALWAYS delivers. Most of the food is small plates and comes out in wonderfully timed waves so it doesn't take forever, but you also don't feel rushed. Personally, this is my favorite way to eat. You can get 3-4 plates between two people and eat a meal with drinks for a very reasonable price! The pork buns are a staple for good reason, but I'd also recommend trying some of the more obscure dishes. Ask what the new stuff is for that day. I usually don't order chicken at restaurants because it's generally boring and overpriced - the chicken here is not that. Every kind I've tried has had delicious flavors that I've never tasted before! Great wine, beer, and sake. The staff is also awesome. Very attentive and friendly. They'll always have recommendations for you if you can't decide!

J

Had the greatest pleasure being served by a nice Japanese family. The food tasted homemade and was generous with its portions especially for its price. The atmosphere is welcoming and homely rather than pretentious.

I hate to use this phrase but... literally a sparkling wonderful GEM hiding right off Myrtle. I had walked by and noticed how cute it was. Since my girlfriend loves diners, we decided to give it a go. Its not a diner. But praise be that we thought it was and gave it a try. Fast forward about 2 months and 4 visits later... Everything here we have tried is outstanding. Ordering something off each menu section and sharing as a table is definitely the right choice. Everything is fresh and immaculately prepared. The fresh butchered chicken comes in so many different delicious ways. Don't let the apparent simplicity of a dish fool you. The kale and tofu dish has become a staple for us, and surprises me every time. On our last visit, we had a special of smoked cod that literally melted on your tongue into a sweet savory luxury. Go on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (usually) for a special: +$5 for soup, salad, and pickled vegetables. The perfect addition.

My favorite hidden gem in the area. The food is consistently amazing!! and crazy good prices! The staff is super kind and helpful. They also sell great snacks, frozen foods and drinks in the market. Once you go, you’ll definitely find yourself coming back :)

When indoor dining was allowed, I could count on the chef and team at 750 Myrtle Diner for tip-top hygiene and absolutely delicious home-style Japanese food. Now, they are offering terrific entrees to go, as well as a wide range of Japanese household and grocery items. I think of them as an essential community business. I hope they get to expand and offer both casual fine dining as well as a market for Japanese ingredients and prepared food.

This place is an absolute gem. The food is exceptional, well priced and relatively quick. They take care in assembling and curating the tastes of their dishes and it shows. Whether you're looking for a warm ramen broth on cold winter day or a comfort meal of katsu and rice this place will satisfy your desires and satiate your taste buds. Can't recommend this high enough.

A very cool and unique little place with a lot of unexpected twists. It feels like a Greek dinner and a nice Japanese restaurant had a baby. It's a casual and comfortable environment with interesting and finely executed dishes. The menu changes daily. I had the crab salad, brussel sprouts, curry fried chicken and warm red wine with cinnamon sticks. I especially loved the brussel sprouts and chicken. Good service reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back.

Great little local Japanese market. Lots of snacks, house made carry out dishes and beverages. Their homemade ramen kits are INCREDIBLE as well as the curry, pickles, and quick to sell out delicious potato salad. Everyone here is SO FRIENDLY. A must stop neighborhood spot!

I’ve been here a few times and every time has been great! and the customer services has been great every time. There are lots of eclectic options. I totally see the “European-Japanese” in the menu. Fresh meat and desserts are tops. Good for sharing.

This place is incredible! Once a restaurant, they’ve temporarily converted into a Konbini/small grocery store stocking difficult to find Japanese products. Friendly staff, amazing selection. The pork belly is so good!!

D

This wasn’t the first time my girlfriend and I have dined here. Because we usually split 4 shareable plates, the total with tip usually comes out to around 110$. Our favorite had always been the crab fried rice, until tonight. Tonight we tried the Shrimp with Uni butter and fell in love. 5 Stars time and time again. When they aren’t full, the food orders come out in expected order and temperature.

K
Kara Hayward

UPDATE: 750 has converted to takeout and a Japanese grocery / deli! Everything is delicious. Great sake and beer selection. Their bento boxes are each, individually, a dream come true — have had the pork katsu, fried chicken, and chicken and burdock rice. Take a bento box next door to Cookies Bar and pair with a drink for date night in the backyard. /// ORIGINAL: This restaurant is the only Japanese place in the city that is both fantastic and reasonably priced (typical dishes are $5 $20) and consistently healthy, thoughtful and delicious. It's hard to go wrong, but don't sleep on: cold soba, karaage chicken (Japanese fried chicken), yakitori, deep fried Brussels, enoki mushrooms. The beer and wine and sake options are equally thoughtfully curated (where else will you see wine from Macedonia?) and it's worth it to try something out of the ordinary.

K
Koharu Usui

They’ve temporarily converted into a Japanese grocery store with a window for freshly made bento boxes. I was here more for groceries but the menu was authentic and the guys working here were nice! The food that I saw come out looked great. Great selection of Japanese pantry items (and a very fully stocked freezer of cured fish/noodles etc) in an area of BK that doesn’t have a ton of options. I’ll definitely be back to try their prepared meals soon!

The food was WONDERFUL (see photo for exact order). The chicken I had tasted like duck it was so juicy. We also had a chrysanthemum and mushroom soup, a chicken meatball soup. and chicken teriyaki. The three of us (2 adults and a child) ate for $50 plus tip with no leftovers. I'm not sure if it was because of the record high temperatures in NYC at that time, but it was too hot in there to be comfortable. The restaurant itself could use some TLC with cleaning as well. I didn't downvote for these things.

Visiting from Canada just looking for a quick bite. Found this place, and, glad I did. Bit of an odd spot, but, the food was incredible. Ordered the Karaage Curry Rice. I'm a good eater and there was lots. Service was fast and friendly. If you are in Brooklyn try this place.

This place was one of my favorite restaurants in NYC some time ago, then it became a store, I enjoy just the same. Come here and get info on Japanese products for you own cooking, grab some sake or beer on tap. They have great ice cream, I swear by it. If and when you get to try this place in restaurant mode, you’ll see why it’s so highly spoken of by some. The chef continues to change the menu and keeps exploring new ways to bring Japanese cuisine to the public. The ambience can be so welcoming for small friends gathering or a date. I almost wish no one else knew about this place, but they deserve some attention, and definitely need to get reviews and acknowledgment from big wig food critics.

So unpretentious but surprising. Smoked edamame are unusual without being weird. Slightly spicy and so good! Fried chicken is very crispy and tasty. Vegetable age dashi is great too. Highly recommend.

Excellent izakaya-style food. Great selection of cup sake, generally these are cheap and mediocre but 750 Myrtle has some really great ones that are the same as some bottles at serious sake bars/restaurants.

Come here every few weeks for Karaage and some other Japanese snacks. Hidden gem in the neighborhood and really all of Brooklyn. Chicken is always super fresh and cheap, the other menu items are pricier but still really well done. Can find some interesting sake here too. Highly recommend overall, need more places like this in BK.

I always go there for lunch, this is a grocery store that has a small kitchen inside. Don’t get me wrong, the place is clean and neat. They have prep meals and ready to eat food that is fast serving and delicious! Such as onigiri (rice balls), ramen kit, beef don, curry, bento boxes, bread, marinated egg… (they have too many things!!!) The ramen is my go to! Very affordable Japanese food! They always being innovative as well, constantly bringing out new products or foods.

FANTASTIC! I know that the pandemic has caused them to change around the inside of their store/restaurant but that’s perfectly fine! We were able to find some snacks and frozen foods while we waited for a food order and I noticed that the prices on the grocery items that they sell are quite low! Other Japanese grocers throughout the five boroughs tend to be more expensive so it was a lovely surprise to find that 750 Myrtle Diner had very reasonable prices. The food is phenomenal- I cannot recommend the chicken katsu dish enough! The chicken was so crispy on the outside and so insanely juicy on the inside. The freshness of their ingredients is astounding! I have not had a single dish that I haven’t fallen in love with. If you’re in the mood for some tasty Japanese food do yourself a favor and come here. You will not be disappointed!

Best bentos in Brooklyn! Thank me later! I love 750 Myrtle. The food is seasoned, consistent and authentic. Also, they serve Japanese groceries and they have a pretty large saki collection. Spread love the Brooklyn way and order from one of my favorite local restaurants.

JUST COME HERE. every dish on their daily changing menu is absolutely fantastic and superb. Trust whatever they recommend because the owners know what they are doing and I’ve honestly had some of the best bites and dishes in my life here at 750 myrtle. I love it!!!! I personally love their curry rice, buttered enoki mushrooms, ramen (when they have it), karaage fried chicken, snow crab fried rice, and yakitori.

So glad I found this mini Japanese grocer / take out spot. I came to pick up some items and was pleasantly surprised to see a good selection of food (both refrigerated / non-refrigerated goods). they’ve also got a wine/sake selection in the back 👌🏼 it’s it’s marked up a bit compared to some other Asian grocery stores, reason for 4 stars

Ambiance and Concept The diner is a unique fusion of a Japanese Steiner, a small grocery store, and a liquor store, all nestled in a cozy corner of New York City. This establishment defies expectations with its unassuming exterior and lack of a traditional Japanese name. The clever blend of dining and retail creates a vibrant, multifaceted experience, reminiscent of the small izakayas and shops found in the streets of Japan. Culinary Experience The highlight of this diner is undoubtedly its culinary offerings, particularly the tonkatsu. After a gastronomic journey through Japan, where I experienced some of the most flavorful tonkatsu, I was pleasantly surprised to find a comparable, if not superior, version in this unlikely spot. The pork chop is cooked to perfection, with a balance of crispiness and juiciness, enveloped in a rich, savory coating that elevates the dish to a sublime level. Service The service is warm and welcoming. The proprietors are not just owners; they are ambassadors of Japanese hospitality. Their kindness and attention to detail add a personal touch to the dining experience, making each visit memorable. Seating and Accessibility The seating arrangement is the diner's only apparent shortcoming. Most customers seem to prefer takeout or delivery, which the diner accommodates efficiently. However, for those who choose to dine in, the outdoor seating on the sidewalk is somewhat limited and lacks the comfort one might desire for a relaxed meal. There's certainly room for improvement in this area to enhance the overall dining experience. Overall Impression This diner is a hidden gem for anyone seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in New York City. Its unorthodox combination of a restaurant, grocery, and liquor store creates a unique charm. While the seating could use an upgrade, the quality of food, especially the tonkatsu, makes it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. Whether you're ordering delivery or braving the limited outdoor seating, you're in for a culinary treat that brings a slice of Japan to the heart of New York. **Verdict:** A delightful surprise offering a genuine taste of Japan in an unexpected setting. Highly recommended for its exceptional tonkatsu and warm service, with the hope for improved seating arrangements in the future.

Great spot for a date, nice ambiance, service, presentation. We loved two dishes we ordered, the beets and beans and broccoli rabe. The house fried chicken was a little bland, the other options are probably tastier. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.

1 hour 20 minutes for the food to be made. Food was good otherwise.

2nd time in a week that I’ve tried to eat here and have been turned away. First time, there was a private event. Second time, they only had a 4 top and a single space between another group. I was by myself and they couldn’t seat me at either. They wouldn’t take my name for a wait list and said that maybe in an hour they would be able to seat me.

B
Bryan Braga

The food here is good but there are lots of inconsistencies with hours of operation! I ordered from them through door dash and after confirming my order I waited an hour for my food just for them to cancel my order and close the store during regular operating hours… very disappointing on time wasted

A
Ava Quado

Food is great, but down to three stars for me now because they advertise on Uber Eats that they give you 5 karaage in the bento but they've only been giving 4 lately, and 4 karaage in the karaage+fries combo and they've only been giving 3. I'd like to be served what I think I am paying for. That, or update your advertisement.

M
Mariah

Great food, but we waited 30 minutes before the server acknowledged us. He was apologetic, but the experience didn't improve from there. We were there for a total of 2+ hours for only 3 small plates. They could definitely use an extra server to speed up service overall

S

Friends had raved about 750 Myrtle and extolled it as a place run by two Japanese guys with a background in French cuisine that offered a fresh and daily changing menu; it was thus with great excitement that I came here with three others to try what I thought would be a hidden gem. Unfortunately the experience was thoroughly disappointing. The menu is absurdly long, the items came out completely out of order despite us being the only people in the restaurant (we got some salads and appetizers towards the very end of the meal) , and the all white decor made me feel like I was inside of a plane or at a cafeteria hospital. The food itself is OK but it's frankly not cheap enough for take-out and not good enough to make a trip for it.

They used to have the best karaage, it was crunchy、 crispy、Juicy and most importantly it was authentic Japanese fried chicken. Sadly…today I got my Karaage bento, and it was rock hard and dry chicken!!! So disappointed!!! what’s going on Myrtle Diner???? Any Japanese restaurant can make better Karaage then you so why I need to order from you?

J
Jen S

i didnt enjoy it, uncomfortable service and average food. i had the fried chicken which was a little different but not incredible, the potato salad and the zuccini noodles which i didnt like. i spent 60/pp and felt like I wasted my money. wouldn’t recommend

J

This place is stingy and overpriced. Ordered a $16.50 karaage curry over rice and they gave me two pieces of chicken. The tuna mayo in the $3 "tuna mayo" onigiri was essentially nonexistent.

J
James

I have visited this restaurant 4 times. The first time was great. Unfortunately I have been turned away now 3 of the 4 times I have tried to eat there. The first time I was turned away I came in at 9:30 and was told they wouldn't be seating anymore tables because they were closing soon. The second time I was turned away they said the kitchen was short staffed and couldn't take any more tables. This last time I was turned away they said they had reservations all night even though most of the tables were empty. Won't ever be going back there.

I was very disappointed with my experience at 750 Myrtle Diner. I am disabled and the owner denied access to my service dog. I pointed out the fact that he is in fact a service dog and legally allowed to be there and she continued to say "no, not allowed." To quote the government website on the Americans with Disability Act, "Under the ADA, State and local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that serve the public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public is allowed to go." Not only did the owner deny me access, she was extremely rude. Do not go to this establishment if you support disability rights.

T
Tiffany Harjean

I ordered salmon with rice, they sent me mackerel with a note saying that they were “sold out of salmon”…?!?! We don’t eat mackerel! but they never called me to double check with me: they simply just replaced the meal. Which is so wrong, they should have let me know or call me to make sure I was fine with the replacement . You can’t even call them, they don’t have a phone number and when I found one online, it goes to a voicemail ( not even sure it’s the restaurant) it’s too bad, the food looked good but restaurants who decide on behalf of customers without their knowledge is just wrong. Especially if you have allergies .

There’s dog hair everywhere in here and I even saw a dog walking around near all the food and kitchen. Very rude staff and the food tastes like cheap packaged Japanese food. This place has lots of low ratings for a reason. There’s of amazing food options in the neighborhood but this isn’t one of them.

I live in the neighborhood and have been around far longer than this “restaurant” - the owners are rude , aggressive and have no respect for the law. I am disabled and they will not let me enter with my service dog - this is a violation of state and federal law . Furthermore the food quality is terrible and they should be shut down by the health dept . I have received food that tasted like it sat out all day via online order - only to realize that their food does sit out all day, unrefrigerated , literally on a wire bookshelf - for hours . Avoid at all costs . They are jerks , the food is awful. - and they have no respect for their disabled community nor the laws of the United states.

been a long time customer but got literal MOLD in my curry in my delivery order. Never again…. I thought Japanese people were clean
