Best bar in Brooklyn
This is a cool cute bar and food ,I went there to celebrate my friend birthday ..i love it how one side bar other, someone cooking food
Awesome bar! The owner was great, music was great, pizza was tasty, such a fun atmosphere.
Awesome neighborhood spot. Great pizza
Friendly bar staff and really good pizza! Great spot for after work drinks.
Fun place, great music great beer selection, the in-house pizzas hit the spot, and the owner is awesome!
My coworker and I discovered this spot a while ago and realized it was the best after work happy hour spot, with any drink you by over $5 it's free pizza all night, not toentiom the have games like Jenga, pictionary, cards against humanity and much more, I love the atmosphere here and again, the prices for drinks are great.
How could anyone not love this place it's with good thinly slice pizza. I mean every time you buy a drink you can get a pizza. I mean how dope is that?!
Employees were nice & friendly. Karaoke on Wednesdays, everyone was supportive of people's singing.
$6 cheese pie, six pieces - Only place in New York still selling $1 slices Pretty good too
This place is an amazing bar, their pizzas are awesome! Brad and rob are awesome and super nice!! A+++
Joe is lovely. The IPA is tasty. The decor is awesome and the whisky measures are perfect.
Good beers on tap, friendly atmosphere and a free personal cheese pizza with any beer over 5 bucks... need I say more?
Who doesn't love cheap drinks and cheaper pizza? Cool events, and great bartenders for a local spot!
Awesome bar and pizza spot a shot a beer and a personal pizza at one time great place awesome time spent
You come here for the pizza. The beer selection is nice too.
Super chill atmosphere, very friendly bartenders, and a free 🍕 per beer. What more could you want?
Solid beer selection (nice mix of domestic and craft), super tasty garlic knots!
Complimentary 6 slice cheese pie with every drink order during NFL game. Pepperoni is $1. Can't beat it!
great pizza, great music, and great vibes. good for dates and hangouts with friends
Great atmosphere, awesome staff, cheap/good drinksand free pizza. What more do you want?
Great little bar with free pizzas when you buy a drink and great service!
My neighborhood bar, love it. Brad's the best! And free pizza :)
Such good pizza. Such good beer. For cheap yo. Very eclectic and interestingly decorated. Lotsa stimulation with all the movies running. Pretty packed but chill.
My fave bar, love the people the pizza and the pints (:
Friendly staff, fun and nostalgic decor, and pretty good pizza... especially since its free with your drink purchase! Woohoo! We always have a good time here.
I love this bar. This is my go to bar for any reason. Just to hang out, just to relax after a long day, just to go and just have a good time. The owners are great the service is incredible and it's looks like a bar should look (in my opinion). How do I give this place more stars?
This is a quintessential dive bar, of which there are fewer and fewer in Brooklyn these days. Pretty good tap list, some sports in the background, and a casual setting. Gets pretty busy late nights though.
New menu is amazing. Even the garlic knots are to die for. Pizza better than pizza parlors and half the price. They even have 3 different kinds of marinated jalepeno peppers (ginger marinated is the bomb).
Stopped in on a recommendation, ended up enjoying the place more than most bars. Bartenders were nice and easy to talk to, prices were some of the best I’ve seen in the area, and the atmosphere is delightful. I’m only in town for a few more days, but I guarantee I’ll be back anytime I’m here in the future.
this is the only good bar in brooklyn new york 1. cheap drinks ($6 draft beers etc) 2. free pizza with every drink 3. it’s a perfect dive bar 4. no credit card minimum
Great place to watch sports, sing karaoke or just hang out with friends. The pizza you get with the purchase of a beer is really the best complimentary pizza out there!
Great drinks and amazing pizza. The bartenders are characters unto themselves and will make you laugh alot. Make getting drunk fun.
Super cool, eclectic spot. Great place to stop in for pizza before your adventure through Park Slope begins. If you aren't pre-gaming here, then you aren't pre-gaming correctly!
Solid location. Definitely try the garlic knots! Everyone who works there is super friendly and the vibe is laid back. It is the perfect spot to meet a friend to catch up.
Fun dive bar that serves a personal pizza with each purchased beer. Service is always quick and friendly. Great Park Slope bar
Overall one of my favorite places to meet up with friends, or simply chat with the wonderful team that works there 💖 great food and vibes!
Best bar in Brooklyn! Brad is awesome. Go Irish! Love the atmosphere, great service, and helllooooo....fresh free pizza!
Great bartenders, free pizza with your beer, trivia every other Tuesday. This place is a pretty great dive bar.
The perfect dive bar. Lots of games, cool crowd, quick and friendly bar tenders. Close to trains. Great for an easy night out with some friends.
Amazing find after a big walk in the neighborhood! Friendly staff, great selection, great prices and great decor, my only regret was leaving early!
Beer and pizza are a winning combo. TVs with different movies for all tastes and the friendliest bartender. Also board games!
The greatest bar in all of Brooklyn. If you want to be welcomed in with a friendly vibe and great pizza then you need to look no further. This place stands alone as an outpost that you should seek out if you are in Park Slope. Bars like this are a rare gift. Within weeks you will become a regular and be treated like an old friend. Hope they branch out so more neighborhoods get graced with a place as good as this treasure. Also a heads up, you will find your NYC family here. <3
Such a fun and low-key neighborhood bar that serves you a free pizza with every drink. Wednesday karaoke nights are the best and the MC is so nice and patient. Always a great mix of young and old, gay and straight, Slope and elsewhere.
Difficult for me to NOT rate bars with free pizza extremely highly, but this place is great on top of that. Very affordable drinks, bartenders are always friendly. It’s nice to have a quality dive bar in a neighborhood that’s on the more expensive side. There’s always classic movies playing on the multiple tv screens which is great for distracting yourself between the small talk. Love that it’s spacious as well.
This place is incredible! Excellent friendly bartenders, good selection of beer and amazing pizza for 5 dollars. Also all the patrons are pretty friendly. Great place to spend time by yourself or to meet new people.
A small bar with really good atmosphere and nice people. The don't have a very big selection of beer but they have all types. You get a free pizza with your beer (a little but tasty) which is a selling point for me. A frozen Han Solo on the bathroom door and a pinball table... what else can you wish?
Awesome awesome bar. The owner is hands down one of the nicest guys I've ever met, which just contributes to the overall great vibe the place has. AND you get a free mini pizza with every drink you order!
Great discovery! I was looking for an atmospheric and affordable spot to have a beer, a snack and a good conversation. American Cheez created a splendid first impression, both by the laid-back vibes, design, music, tasty home-made pizza and also good beer. This will become a go-to spot, whenever I'll be near Park Slope neighborhood.
Awesome neighborhood haunt. Brad is the owner, and was so cool and helpful when I lost my ID here. Also he didn't get upset when my boyfriend spilled champagne on him. Kitchy, fun atmosphere, pretty good prices. Recommend if you're ever in BK!
There aren't a heck of a lot of dive bars left in Park Slope, and none that offers free pizza! Often crowded but you can usually find space to post up. Great spot to tie a few off on the way from from work or after a night out.
Great 80s-90s nostalgia bar with pretty good pizza. They show NFL games during the season.
Fave local dive bar. Dark, cozy, eclectic decor, good drinks, board games, etc. The pizza and garlic knots are insanely good.
This is one of the best O.G. spots you'll find in the neighborhood. Not only do they serve a variety of tasty and reasonably priced craft beers, but they throw in a free pizza to boot! This place is laden with decorations from locals, including a wonderfully bizarre Hillary Clinton nutcracker, some garbage pail kids, and Dylan McCay bathrooms. American Cheese is definitely worth it for a drink or two if you're in the area!
Great place for Sunday football, staff is super chill. Cool to hang and enjoy some food. Deff one of my new favorite spots
Such a good place! Decoration is really good, lot of different things matching together as well. The beer are at a very fair price. We feel that the crew want us having and good time and it does.
Very good atmosphere. A lot of retro movie posters. 80's to 90's era. Mini pizza pie with any drink over 5 dollars. Bartender was a good guy. I would come back here.
One of my favorite bars in Brooklyn. The bartenders rock, the locals who come here are great and it’s just a perfect neighborhood staple. Currently trying to figure out how to donate or buy a gift card bc this treasure deserves to stay open and thriving. If anyone knows pls post a website or info here!
A perfect South Slope spot that can mix it with the best dive bars in Brooklyn. If you are starting the night at Freddy’s, Buttermilk, or Denny’s… then finish it off in high fashion and low morals at American Cheez.
Cool neighborhood bar, if I lived there I would be a regular. Brad, the owner is awesome! Best bartenders around. Wednesday night Karaoke is definitely a fun time.
Terrific local bar with what is possibly the friendliest energy in the city; If only one felt so welcomed everywhere. The bartenders are particularly attentive and the floor to ceilings windows allow for a pleasant outdoor view.
If you are looking for a bar done right, no frills, just good time, that's a great neighborhood spot. And you may consider staying longer than expected...maybe because the AC is crisp and it's hot outside. Maybe the outdoor seating gives you a beautiful view of the sunset... In any case you can rely on their brick oven pizza done right or order from any of the places down the block! Good times ahead. The special treat? If you grew up watching 70's or 80's TV, the decor is a trip. (Word of advice, you should not take their games too seriously as parts will be missing)
Your bar has an unbeatable atmosphere! To match its unique energy, I’d love to help you create a captivating website that truly reflects its spirit and draws in more patrons. A sleek, well-designed website can showcase your drink menu, feature live entertainment schedules, highlight glowing customer reviews, and even allow for event bookings or table reservations—making it effortless for people to discover and enjoy your bar. Let’s bring your bar’s vibe online and take your business to the next level!
Splendid time! Coworkers and myself came here on a Wednesday evening to see a friend off onto new adventures. This place passes the vibe check with flying colors. The beer selection is great and the personal pizzas? Fantastic. I should really start taking more pictures when I’m out.
i was here, it’s awesome, great bartender. excellent well whiskey
I was invited to American Cheez by the lovely staff that cooks the most amazing personal pizza pies you’ve tried. It is located across the street from Lore, right off of 7th avenue & 15th street. I tried the delicious small specialty pizza pie called Fungus Amungus, its parmesan cheese, white sauce, and mushrooms. Super tasty, they have a variety of selections. American Cheez is also a full bar, with a wide variety of beverages, beer, and mixed drinks. Every Wednesday night at 9pm is karaoke night. Good for couples, friends, and late night hang outs. Come on by, enjoy a drink, watch some sports, chat with your besties, and enjoy your night!
Great dicey experience. Bartender was more than friendly and on top of checking if I need a fresh drink. Pizza was solid for the price and bar.
A unique spot to hang out, where else you can fully dive into an eclectic dreamscape of American memorabilia, listen to a great soundtrack of the "forgotten gold" (do not wait to hear the last decade) while still being able to chat, and watch baseball on one screen, iconic Italian horror movie on another (and was there a cheezy rom-com on the third?). When the kitchen is open, freshly baked pizza is a wonderful addition to your drink.
Just yes. $5 pizza that is insanely tasty dominos-y (I mean this in a great way, it’s just salty enough that it hits the spot in the best way possible). I genuinely feel like this pizza has been engineered because it’s so dang good. I always grab a Down East Cider here. Love enjoying the ambiance, blending in, and the occasional round of Jenga. Perfect for a cold winter night when you need something to do, or literally any night at all just because.
My wife and I's long standing disagreement on which cheese is best, Cheddar (I thought this was obvious), or American Cheese, has been won. And it is American Cheez. This has been our new favorite bar. We first went just before covid started back in the normal times. We had a great time inside, played some pinball, watched some sports, drank some beers. And enjoyed the crowd. The bartenders and owner are all great to talk to too. Since covid, they've got great outside seating on a nice corner that has become a fixture of our weekends. The draft beer is always cold and at a good price. We struggle to find good west coast (non juicy) IPA's on draft, and they always have Lagunitas IPA. On the weekends, their $5 thin crust pizza is supreme. You can get a similar pizza elsewhere for $12-14 dollars and be less satisfied. It is frankly a problem for the ongoing battle of "can I still fit in my pants". Respect to their pizza maker. We love you man. The best week was during early voting. We sat outside having a beers, watching all the voters in line, biding our time for when the line was short. Not a lot of work got done that week by us, but we had a great, inspirational time.
The atmosphere here is amazing, the bartenders are very attentive and the prices can’t be beaten. They’ve got beer & shot specials and I believe karaoke night is on Wednesdays. Then there’s the food: they serve pizza that’s very good and affordable. You can grab a large pie for two for around $12, seriously, price + quality = unbeatable. On nights when there’s no game on the big screen, they’re playing great music. So you can go solo, sit at the bar, and meet people or roll up with a group of friends. Whether you’re there for drinks, pizza, karaoke nights, big-screen NFL games, or just good music and chill vibes, this place has it all. Highly recommend it.
Cool spot and great staff. BUT THE PIZZA. Legit typing this out as I’m having some. Came out piping hot and very good. Great sauce and crust. Got the jalapeño pepperoni pie. For sure coming back here for more than one reason. Other pluses: good WiFi and they have an outdoor patio. Also a few TVs plus a very large projection screen. They’ve had MLB, NFL, and college football games when I’ve stopped by. Gem af.
Great bar-staff and drink selection with free pizza. Also love trivia on Tuesday nights!!
Great bar, fun atmosphere. Kind of low key spot. Drinks are reasonable, and you get a free pizza with each one. Pizza Adventures: Destination #12
Decent bar. Friendly staff and average selection. Good for location. Open early.
Cute place. Their pizza is nice and crunchy. Bartender a bit grumpy. All in all a nice neighborhood joint.
It's a great local spot with cheap drinks. I didn't get to try their pizza but I hear it's great. The bartender was super attentive even when the bar was packed.
This is definitely a dive bar. We met some friends here. There were lots of board games, which one could play with friends in the bar. There was an over sized, huge movie screen with a movie playing. And the best part of the trip to this bar was that we each received a free, plate size pizza with every drink we ordered. We had four beers and 4 pies. I believe the very friendly bartender told us that it is customary for each patron to receive 1 pie with your first drink. It was very cozy, and small. There was a large crowd when we got there. Lots of fun. There was a lot of street parking. It looked like most of the patrons were from the neighborhood. We had a fun time. And the prices were reasonable. We would go back
I stopped in while waiting for my table at Fonda. The owner was bar tending and seemed like a great guy who really enjoyed running a bar. A six point was $6 and include a free pizza. The decorations were awesome and I had fun looking at all the cool stuff hanging on the wall. The music was great and I enjoyed myself, I'll be back in the future for a night of drinking.
Wow!! Place has good Draft Beer with good prices. Excellent free "Homemade" Pizza with drink $5.00 and over and Great Service! You can't go wrong win u check out American Cheez!!
Basically free pizza that's actually good. Mixed drinks are pretty weak but the beer is beer. Not too loud, definitely no hipster or pretentious vibe. Service is really good.
Not an amazing atmosphere, not an amazing selection of liquors. But c’mon you can’t beat a free freshly baked personal pizza with every drink. it’s dimly lit, definitely a sports bar, and there are games on the tables in the side. Really nice staff.
Typical dive bar. Trivial pursuit on the table is personal favorite. They have free pizzas too. Friwendly staff. Good spot to become a regular if you like beer and live nearby.
I am in the service industry and I desperately want the pepperoni and jalapeño pizza. I came to get a pizza on a Friday in which they do pizza till 12am. I make it there at 11:50. The bartender ignores me for ten minutes. I’m worried I can’t order a pizza. I ask the cook to be prepared for me to put in an order and I tell him what I am going to order. The bartender finally makes it over to me, I ask the bartender to order a pizza and he said “no more pizza”. The cook comes over to clarify that I had ordered. He reluctantly accepts. I order a beer and a shot. The pizza comes out. I house the whole thing. I order another beer, tell him the last name on my tab as a courtesy. He brings me the beer then brings me my closed tab in which I didn’t ask to be closed. Instead of apologizing he says “it’s hard to understand you when you have food in your mouth” I had a horrible day at work and this was the cherry on top of all of it. I still tipped 30% in cash because even if you suck at your job you still have to pay your bills. I hate writing reviews like this but it really rubbed me the wrong way and I will be seeking late night food and my 50% tips in cash will go to someone with a little more consideration.
If you want your service as flat as the beer then this is the place for you. A pint of Stella with no head on it and flat as can be and the barman was so unhappy.
Cliquey, like in a high school way. Pizza is terrible.
My boyfriend and his family went here to get rounds of shots tonight. The bartender working was super rude and profiled them as soon as they went to order the drinks. They asked for Don Julio Anejo, to which he answered as if they were a bother to him that they didn’t have that. They clearly felt the unwelcoming vibe as if they didn’t belong there in this area based on how they were dressed or looked, but little does the bartender know we live right around the corner and this is OUR neighborhood. We will definitely never come back here and took our business to Prospect Park and Spent $200 on shots! I would give 0 stars if I could.
