Mr. Goodbar Buffalo Reviews
Great local bar with a variety of spaces for drinking, games, performance, and outdoor lounge. Low key but fun and drinks are what you'd expect. I'd come back
Great dive-y place to come after softball. Great beer on tap. Greasy food and a nice patio along Elmwood. Don't need anything more.
Wasn't sure at first. Old school friendly bar. Great staff! Happy happy happy. Great wings, yummy yummy yummy. Good price. Big place. Don't let the old school vibe scare you away.. it's a home away from home!
You can't go wrong with this place! Bartenders are amazing! The atmosphere and music is fantastic! Karaoke is an added chefs kiss to the whole experience.
This is my favorite bar! Wings are fantastic tons of flavors to choose from, the music selection is always on point and their staff is incredible. Do yourself a favor and go to Mister Goodbar today!!!!
Had a wonderful time attending the comedy open mic upstairs on Thursday night. Hilarious. Will return. Everyone downstairs was smiles down then bar. A must attended.
I was going to the bathroom and hit the door on my way in. The bouncer on the second floors followed me in and interrupted me on my piss and said don’t do that. Have some respect
Always a good time, plenty of dart boards and multiple pool tables. The bands are always entertaining even upstairs with the cover it's well worth a visit.
Best wings in Buffalo! I'm from out of town, but I have spent extensive time in Buffalo. Every time I come to town I try a new spot, but always visit the friendly staff at Goodbar for Cajun Stout wings!!!!
Amazing wings and tater tots. Wednesday night karaoke upstairs is a blast.
Prices were good, and the atmosphere was fun. If you're not a Bills fan you'll get heckled, but it's all in good fun.
My favorite place from back in College, from here you can experience whatever kind of night you wish to. From dart to pool to live music on most weekend nights, Mr. Goodbar is great place to spend time out.
We didn't end up going in, but the "Bouncer" said there is NO cover for music in the summer months! That gets 5 stars right there!
A staple of Elmwood Ave. Perfect spot for watching a Bills game, or just for hanging out and killing time. They have a ton of beer on tap, and they’ll also make you any cocktail you’d like. Plus the food is great!
This place has a super selection of beer, you can't go wrong stopping at Goodbar. It's not quite a dive as it's very popular, but you shouldn't struggle to move around on most days either. It's easy to get pretty wavy here so take it easy and feel yourself out before you make a fool out of yourself.
Imagine a world with as many craft beers as you can handle. Now imagine a membership card where you can pay a set price for 10 beers. Like sports? Every game. Love the Bills? Always on a giant screen. Hate Tom Brady? Piss on his face in the urinals. Live music? Done. Comedy? Done. Bar games like darts and pool? Done and done. Bar snacks? Killer. Wings? Some of the best in Buffalo. Goodbar is the best bar on Elmwood, heck maybe in all of Buffalo.
Since departing Buffalo almost 4 years ago, living in 4 different cities, I have yet to find a bar atmosphere that is nearly as good as this place. The people, both staff and patrons were some of the best people. Sure there were some problems on occasion, but all around one of the best bars in the country.
The best dive bar in Buffalo. Two pool tables at least five dart machines. Live music regularly, with 107.7 FM hosting Good Thursdays with vinal records. Great bartenders and affordable drinks, definitely my go to spot on Elmwood Ave.
The most amazing place in the whole world! Thank you for letting us celebrate every special occasion, especially our wedding! And, always making us feel like family! ❤️ Love you all!!!
This is our favorite bar in the city hands down! The wings are out of this world. Fried pickles anyone because they are AMAZEBALLS! Picky Beer drinker... not a problem because if they don't have something you like then you need to make an appointment with your doctor to have that stick removed straight from your Arse. They have some pretty wicked sours as well. The bartenders are the best and might be the reason we never leave after just one drink. The crowd is great and as FAR FROM pretentious douchery as you can possibly get. You can host your football draft here, have a party upstairs, drink after softball (Or before), sing karaoke, listen to the BEST Tom Petty cover singer I have ever heard (he looks JUST like David Bowie), comedy shows.... They have something for everyone. Did I mention this is our favorite bar?
Long haired bartender was great! We were from out of town, he gave us a full list of places to see. Cooked us the best wings we had in 3 days in Buffalo. Don't believe the hype of the tourist traps for wings, Goodbar was our favorite!
Lobe playing pool here only 3 tables tho so there is usually a wait but $10 pitchers will make that wait feel like nothing. 4 dart boards in the back. Music is good and not crazy loud or overpowering. They run big games and events on the projector.
Great Beer selections at this location. Wednesday night karaoke, Thursday night beer tasting, Friday live band. Great atmosphere. Mostly young adults from nearby Buffalo state college and Elmwood area residents.
Great late night bar food. Decent service for as busy as it gets. 3 dart boards, 1 pool table, and a stage for live music. Drink specials.
Great traditional neighborhood bar. It would be nice to have something besides only fried foods.
I went here to see a friend of mine's band play a while back. Had a lot of open space, and a nice little stage. Had a couple pool tables and some electronic dartboards which was nice. Drinks may be a little overpriced, but I mean, hey, cheap drinks shouldn't be why you're going to a bar.
I had a great time at the comedy show last week. And I'm going back this week. The food was amazing!!! We had chicken wings and pepperoni pizza
We drive here on sundays from toronto to get what we have decided on the best combination of great wings and a fantastic beer selection. We have tried all the usual and this place really had satisfying wings and amazing craft beers. Our go to place when we can make the drive.
My favorite bar in Buffalo! The beer selection is amazing and always changing. The beers on cask are always a great option and the dart boards are a ton of fun along with the live music they often have.
Great atmosphere... great staff... great beer selection... Went here tonight to see one of Buffalo’s best comedians Josh Potter. My advice is get here early as it sells out quickly.
Not much has changed in 34 years, the copper top bar has a few more nails in it to add to the character. Dark and cozy it's one of the best grunge beer bars around. Tap list is extensive, unique and fresh. We didn't go for food.
After hearing a lot of good things about Mr. Goodbar, I finally got to visit with friends on 2/20/2021. It was lively but tables were spaced out generously to allow for good physical distancing. The bar also looked to be well spaced. As expected, the draft list was generous and diverse enough that everyone in our group could find something they wanted to drink. Also, due to the current requirement of having a food item with a drink purchase, they are offering a 'Dollar Menu' of snacks. We got really generous portions of fries and tater tots with our drinks and had a ton leftover. The only criticism our group had was there were only 1 or 2 sweet snacks on it. We also appreciated that the music was at a volume that allowed you to enjoy it but also have a conversation with the people you were with. We had a great experience and hope to make it back the next time we're in Buffalo!
Forever my favorite bar. Mr.Goodbar has been around for generations and the newest owner has taken it to the next level. It is so clean, the staff is so competent and friendly it is obvious they love where they work and who they work for and the food is not your typical bar food quality. It's the chicken wings and chicken fingers you'd expect but the fingers are like boneless, skinless chicken you'd find in a nice, dine in restaurant. Their dedication to promoting and supporting the local arts community through their tireless selection of live music is unparalleled and speaking of selection, their beer selections rivals that of any corporate establishment and with a way better atmosphere.
I used to come here 18 years ago when I was in college, and it's only changed for the better. It's nothing fancy, but the servers are very nice and the beer menu is amazing. They still offer basic bar food, and it's pretty alright, but mostly it's just a great place to get some drinks with friends on Elmwood.
Mr. Goodbar is my go to place for a drink. It's always a fun time that supports all crowds. The decor is minimal, but fitting, with enough pool tables and dart boards to keep parties entertained and live music most evenings. The place is amazingly versatile and I'll find any excuse to be there. I've gone for simple meet-ups during the day time and gone for serious drinking celebrations to the early morning. Their beer selection is a huge draw. They've got a constantly changing beer menu with beers from all over the world. The bartenders are fun and knowledgeable and, best of all, attentive! After a couple drinks they're your best friend. So, whether it's 2am and you're looking to continue a party or it's 5:30 and you're looking to relax after work go here.
Awesome chicken wings. Huge Craft beer selection. In fact, they have been serving craft beer since before it was trendy. Bartenders are terrific. One of my favorite bars and a definite stop if you are in Elmwood area.
I was attending the Elmwood Village Festival and my granddaughter and I decided to eat here. From the very first step inside the bouncer greeted us eith a warm welcome while looking at our id's...lol he directed us as to what direction to go to order our food and drinks. We were very well satisfied from there on in...will go again.
Awesome place definitely one of the best bars in Buffalo. Went for emo night and i was surprised and excited how many beers they have on draft and in bottles/cans. If you need a bar to go to always keep goodbar in mind!!
Some of the best wings, good vibes, too busy at prime drink time to get 5 star service as it's difficult to get a beer
I love this place!! This is a quintessential buffalo bar... Great prices and specials on drinks and full kitchen... Yes there is food! Some of the best wings in Buffalo.... PACKED FOR THE BILLS GAMES!! I went to one Bills game event and I go every single Sunday!!
Straddling the line between overpowering and ordinary, Goodbar consistently is the go-to place at the end of Elmwood Village. 32 taps, plenty of craft and standard bottles, great prices and music, and a bar staff that are more human than their pretentious counterparts further down the 'ave.
Great service. Quality open mic for comedy. Friendly people and lots of them to hang out.
Laid back bar with a venue upstairs for concerts and events. Good bar food at very reasonable prices. Not fancy but a must for anyone that wants to experience the best of Buffalo's bars, with an extensive beer selection on tap and bottled.
Great atmosphere and a fantastic local restaurant. Definitely stop by and check it out if you are in the area!
Wife friends and I went to see band Watch Your Step and was an awesome time, great bartenders, delicious food, fun atmosphere!! Highly recommend if your thinking about going for anything!
Cozy affordable spot with lots of fun events!
Awesome wings, great place to watch the game!
Whether you like dart boards or beer, this place has them both
I'm not a bar person. However, I did go to Mr. Goodbar for a show and I was very impressed with the size of the stage and the quality of the sound. I only tried the pizza, which was decent, so I can't really rate all the food. But it's a good time there.
Hasn't changed in a generation. That's not a bad thing. $5 beers for a Friday Happy hour! Could use another bartender, but the bartenders were working hard, just busy.
I recently more than a one time visited Mr. Goodbar, and it was an excellent experience! The chicken wings were delicious, crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The drinks were equally awesome, with a great selection to choose from. I went with my husband, and he loved their chicken wings just as much as I did. He also really enjoyed their beer selection, which added to the whole experience. If you’re looking for a spot with great food, drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere, Mr. Goodbar is definitely worth a visit! Highly recommend!
We went here with the intent of waiting for the bar next door to open, but we didn't end up leaving! Rather we spent the next four hours enjoying drink after drink. They mostly had tap and can beer options but when we inquired they did have cocktails available such as a margarita, and a whiskey sour which were delicious! Drinks were very low price! We weren't local but the staff was attentive to us and even openly chatting with us near the end of our visit. Should we ever visit again we will definitely be back!
Great bar with a divey feel but with amazing wings! Pool tables, darts, and lots of beer! The Cajun BBQ wings here are no joke. We were told from locals to check them out for their wings and we are happy we did. Great tap list, as well as domestic beer special. Get the wings and chat with the bartenders, you won't regret it.
Mr. Goodbar, located in Buffalo, NY, is a well-known local establishment, favored for its relaxed atmosphere, extensive selection of craft beers, and live music events. Open since 1968, it has become a staple in the Buffalo bar scene, particularly recognized among residents and visitors for its commitment to showcasing a variety of local and regional craft beers. Situated on Elmwood Avenue, a vibrant area known for its bustling nightlife, eclectic shops, and dining options, Mr. Goodbar offers a welcoming environment for a diverse crowd, ranging from college students to seasoned locals. The venue is split into two main areas: the lower level, which hosts the bar and seating areas for casual dining and drinking, and the upper level, often used for private events, live performances, and weekly trivia nights. One of the key attractions of Mr. Goodbar is its impressive beer selection, which includes rotating taps featuring the latest in craft beer from around Buffalo and beyond. They are known for their commitment to supporting local breweries, giving patrons the chance to explore a wide range of beer styles and flavors. In addition to the beverages, Mr. Goodbar also offers a menu of pub-style food, with options ranging from classic bar snacks to heartier meals, all designed to complement the beer selection. The establishment also places a strong emphasis on community involvement and entertainment. It frequently hosts events ranging from live music nights featuring local bands to seasonal celebrations and beer tastings. The upstairs space, known as "The Attic," provides a more intimate setting for these gatherings, making it a popular spot for both public and private events. While the specific details of their events, beer lists, and menu offerings might vary over time, the essence of Mr. Goodbar as a community-centric spot that celebrates good beer, good music, and good company remains constant. It's a place where friends can gather, new connections can be made, and the local culture of Buffalo is actively celebrated.
It is a good bar, def not a great bar. Darts, live music, and French kisses from real live French men.
Goodbar has a vast array of beers. That's the main reason I would recommend stopping by. Took a star off because it's a bit dingy and sticky in there, and the crowd can sometimes skew a little bro-ish due to the proximity to Buff State college. Depending on the night, there may also be a cover.
Go listen to The Rockstar perform on the stage upstairs on Wednesday night. It's a karaoke night, so pit in a song if you're brave enough.
great neighborhood dive. good prices. fantastic snacks. can get a little rowdy but always a good time. the fried pickles are a must.
Bands are usually really good. Service can be better considering the busy crowd. Pool tables, darts, and fried food. One of the oldest and still a local fav .
Great bar for people to connect, and plenty of girls to talk to. Reasonable prices for drinks. Friday nights live music, most of the time good bands.
Live music was nice but far too loud, drink prices were great however. Venue is small upstairs but spacious down, overall a good time with friends!
Great selection of beers on tap. Upstairs and down stairs! Live music, karaoke, pool table and darts. Also a good place to just sit, have a drink and watch sports.
Alcohol is reasonably priced, and the food is good, plus the staff is nice. Sometimes it looks like 4 coherent cogs in a machine, sometimes it looks like a semi-rehearsed circus. It all depends on customer volume, but the wait has been realistic in my experience. Sometimes there's live music, which I think is really cool. At the same time, maybe they should turn off the stereo while its happening? And that way maybe the live music won't have to be so deafening. Thankfully, neither pool, nor darts requires eardrums. With specials rotating throughout the week, you should probably check the place out more than once.
I love mister goodbar, great times, good place to chill with friends, and I think they have some of the best wings in Buffalo hands down. Pool darts you name it, good environment. Only thing is that ull get a lot of the college kids but location is the reason! Overall excellent
Fun dive bar, great on Saturday nights, live music is usually your grunge metal rock type stuff. (this is a good thing) reasonably priced drinks
I don't go to bars too often but Goodbar usually has a decent crowd. Good beer selection, good people.. Bathrooms are really trashy though. Not that nice of a bar but the people, location, and occasional live music makes up for it.
Been here about a small handful of times. Once for the first time a few years ago to see a Grateful Dead tribute band that is local. They were great and so was the crowd. A few other times was for a small comedy show upstairs. Those are always cool!! Small crowd, real intimate but will pack a punch with the right comedians up there. Overall, good experience. The bartenders are always great!!! Come on in and hang out for a little bit and see how you like it...
Great bar environment with pool, darts, and an outdoor area. Drinks are very reasonably priced
Great night out! First time exploring Buffalo's night life, specifically the kareoke scene, and this place hit it! Go here! The kareoke Sound System setup is awesome! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars was that it did take a while for us to get called to sing, there were people that went up to put song's in that came after us, that were called up before us. We were also overlooked a few times at the bar downstairs when trying to order drinks. A few locals or frequent goers came up next to us, and the bartender immediately called them for their orders. The upstairs bar was on point, though! The musician downstairs playing cover tunes was fricken awesome! Overall, we all had a blast, great time! Live music downstairs, kareoke upstairs!
Overall this is a great place to hang out and have a beer. There’s a good amount of space and some pool tables and dart boards that you can use. One of the best beer selections in Buffalo and the service is usually pretty fast. I’d recommend staying away during the nights when they have live music on the first floor because you can barely hear yourself think let alone talk to your friends.
Great vibe, enjoyed the karaoke experience. They have a large selection of beer upwards of 80. My only complaint is the food, was not tasty. Though it was cheap. So there's that. Still check it out.
Stopped because we had a coupon for a free drink. Seemed like a nice enough place. They had 4 dart boards, a couple of pool tables, and a large selection of beer, draft and bottles. I particularly liked that they had a couple of cask ales. I live too far away to frequent, but if I'm ever in the area again I would stop in for a drink.
It is a college bar what can I say... sometimes you get nights with live music which can be either a hit or a miss (bar bands, ya know?). Overall, it is a good place to visit. I take one star away because sometimes the mixed drinks are not as strong but it depends on your bartender.
Nice environment to watch a Bills game Just smelled a little bit
My wife and I visited this bar because she used to go to college in Buffalo and lived on Elmwood. We were slightly unprepared for how out of place two 40-year-olds felt. Don't get me wrong, we're both young at heart, but we are fooling ourselves. If you're looking to relive your college days, this is the perfect bar for you. However, if you're seeking a more relaxed environment, I would recommend finding another bar. The clientele is mostly college-aged folks looking to have a good time and potentially find love. My wife and I couldn't help but feel very old and laughed at how out of place we were. I'm not saying you can't have fun there. I'm just saying that a dark, loud college bar filled with 20-somethings is no longer appealing to us. While I do suggest going somewhere else if you're not into the college scene, the drinks were cheap and no one really cared that we were there. But hey, if you're 20 years older and looking for a good spot to meet up with friends and enjoy some cheap drinks, this bar might be for you. And if you want something even more happening, the place next door seemed to be the hot spot of the night.
The ages of consumers varied from 21 to retired. I always enjoyed that about Buffalo's dive-ish bars. We went to see a friend's band in the attic. Between everyone upstairs and the bass hitting the floor from downstairs, I wondered if collapse was inevitable. The worst part of Mister Goodbar is the women's bathroom. There isn't enough room in the stalls, and at least two didn't properly latch. If you have back or knee issues, I don't recommend going into the attic.
The live bands are not always the vibe.
I didn't enjoy my visit. The patrons that I met were very strange. This guy claiming to be 37 started talking to me while I was waiting for a drink. He called over his friends, all claiming to be a "bunch of school superintendents ". One of them out of the blue asked me did I love my husband. I felt much of their fascination with me had do with my color. I didn't enjoy my visit because of patrons not the establishment. I doubt that I will go back.
Good beer selection - they had 30+ beers on tap. The staff is usually not the friendliest and the clientele can vary quite a bit from night to night. The overall bar is pretty dirty and the restrooms are no exceptions.
I was kicked out for tapping on the bar, trying to order a drink. It might be because i dont drive right now, but im a hole, humen being, and i have an education. I dont do heard drugs. I never did in my life. Im home reading a book right now, and these people disgusted me. I wasn't allowed to defend myself or say im not on drugs.
We didn't actually get to eat here at all. We came in for dinner around 5:30 pm on Friday evening. An employee quickly came over to card our son. He's 17, and while we are aware that he's underage, we didn't realize he couldn't eat here. My rating is for the bar itself. The place melted like a toilet. I couldn't even imagine having food in a place that smelled this bad. Thank you, to the server who recommended we go next door to Coles. Their food, amostphere and staff were 5 🌟 Highly recommend!
Don’t leave your card open or they’ll charge you for drinks that you didn’t purchase.
No problem with service but the food was absolutely tragic, bartenders were wonderful and refunded immediately. Ordered 20 wings but 10 soggy, cold & barely sauced wings came out. Absolutely tragic, this place used to have some of the best wings in the city. Would never order from here again.
It's was myv1st and last time going. It had trash literally all around the entire bar, like cups, bottles, used tissues, itt was disgusting. Don't get me started on the bathroom. I don't nit recommend at all..
This is definitely one of the worst establishments that I’ve ever gone into… It is so depressing as soon as you walk in, and the old guy with the long hair working the bar is definitely lacking any kind of social skills needed to be in this position.
When you have a band going you don't open the pool table right by the band where ppl are sitting and standing around it. People were getting hit by the pool sticks and everything. That's not right. Not happy
The bartender refused to let me in because I tripped on my high heels. I was celebrating getting a bachelors of science in nursing and my friend was playing in the band there. He literally simply refused to let me in. Also was my last night in buffalo, wouldn’t recommend the security guards literally terrible for no reason. I’m pretty sure they’re compensating for something
Do NOT get scammed paying extra to see bands upstairs… especially if the headliner is “watch your step”, I wasted money a few times. Goodbar charges extra and acts like it’s an “exclusive” thing then you just walk upstairs to an empty room and a horrible cover band. Everyone I saw who paid extra to see them play left almost immediately on multiple nights.
Bouncers are obnoxious human beings. You have to pay a cover (not worth it). Just go to Coles instead
