Waterfront Tavern Central Square Reviews
Stopped for take out dinners . The bartender was very friendly and attentive. I got the steak dinner , it was excellent! We are definitely making this our stop through town. Great food, excellent service . 2 dinners for $30! Great deal. We highly recommend it.
Friendly, attentive staff. Bang bang shrimp is awesome, wings are nice and crispy and cooked well. Great seafood bisque soup, and seafood platters. Drinks are a little high priced, but overall a great family place! And of course, the view is great!
We had a small rehearsal dinner here. This was so much nicer than we even expected! Prices were lower than we expected! The service was the best I’ve ever experienced. Everyone was polite, friendly, and ready to help at a moments notice. I would definitely use the Waterfront again. 💯%
Love it, like going for my birthday, sitting outside in the atmosphere that restaurant, is really nice. Always have good service, food great. Definitely will be back
My wife and I have been here numerous times I always go on fridays because they have tuna mac salad and attic and I really enjoy it here. They have good drinks. It's a nice view very comfortable
We went here for our Fire Dept. Annual Banquet, food was amazing, staff were great. Great place overall. I will definitely go here again to eat.
A lovely lunch on a rainy afternoon with friends. We sat outside and it was a bit loud but the air was cool and we stayed dry in spite of the downpour. I had the steak Caesar salad. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender, a great counterpoint to the crispy greens. The wait staff was slammed but our waitress did her best to take our orders and serve us in a timely manner.
Just visited for the first time and must say that I really love this place! Sat outside by the water…the place was hopping. Server Steven was friendly and prompt. Enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich, which was oversized and delicious. Will definitely visit again. Perfect spot for summer gatherings. Oh! And live music was nice
I was at the Waterfront Tavern for a surprise birthday and it was SUPERB! The food was delicious and the waiters/waitresses and bartender were Second to None. The chicken was very crispy, the meatballs were fantastic, salt potatoes 🥔 were outstanding and rhe atmosphere was beautiful! The staff said they had a special on Chicken wings on Wednesday and 2 for 1 on Clams Thursday I took them up on that offer the following Thursday! 👌😁
Amazing view! Great food and service. Will definitely be back 😎
This place is much bigger than it seems from the road with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Drive here and park like a land dweller ;-) or for the lake dwellers, there is a huge dock to pull up boats of nearly any size. Good menu with excellent daily specials, including walleye at times. Service is good also. I really like the option to 'dock n dine' here, that's a major selling point.
Busy due to location but service and waitress didn't suffer at all. Drinks and food came quickly and were perfect. We stayed for some time after and didn't feel rushed to leave. Perfect all the way around. Wish we lived closer so we could go more often. Yay kayleigh!!
Waitstaff was excellent, on their game without hovering... food was solid, duck wings, pizza logs, Mac & cheese are a few faves. Great view of the Niagara River, cool outdoor music, overall excellent vibe!!! 👌
The food at this place is phenomenal. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, they tasted great. The coleslaw had a unique taste you won't find too commonly. Service was great and server came by often making sure our drinks were full and our food was good. I will be back
Bo and Mia did such a good job serving the bar outdoor bar on Memorial Day. They are attentive, just natural and got jokes. I come here often every summer on the jetskis with a group of 10-14 but i’m the lead. I will come again and again. And bring the group as much as they want. The shrimp tacos was so good, kick of cocktail sauce but spicy mayo. Cmon man, it was amazing!
We have been going to the Waterfront Tavern for about 3 years. The ONLY thing I have been disappointed about is the food. It has gradually gone down hill unfortunately. I really do love the place for the atmosphere if nothing else.
Stopped in Thursday night on our way in from Maine, and our server was Dana. All I can say is I hope you get her as a server. She was amazing, on point, fun, and sarcastic! everything I want in a waitress! She was always there asking if we needed more drink or food just a fantastic experience and I hope you all get Dana🤞🙏❤️
Our experience was typical for a road side bar/restaurant but our bartender/server was above and beyond awesome! Dana was taking care of a full bar, tables, quick draw and seating people. She was unbelievable in her ability to stay upbeat and basically serve the whole place on her own! We were so impressed by her skills! Thank you Dana!
We docked at a slip next to the Oneida River very convenient. We sat on the huge deck and had lunch I had a hamburger terrific. We watched the boats go by eat lunch it was great. Our server she was great we had a real nice lunch.
I've been eating their for about ten years off and on when I'm in the area. Never had a bad meal. The waitresses are always friendly and nice waiters to. If you like eating outside over looking the water and boats traveling this is a place to check out. My wife and parents watched the fireworks over the water way and enjoyed it.
Good food at reasonable prices. Servers were attentive. We stopped here because we were boating and there is many free dock spaces right in front of the restaurant. Nice view of the boats and Erie canal! Only downside is the Speedway is closeby and you will hear the noise when they have big events.
We just happened to stumble on this place on the way to the airport to catch a flight back home. The service was quick, waitress was so attentive to us we were in a hurry, lol. Very reasonably priced. Definitely would go there again. We sat outside and enjoyed the water view and people fishing.
Awesome service, great music, and delicious food... Nice indoor and outdoor seating and a spectacular view of the water… Best grilled broccoli I’ve ever had !
Our server tonight was Maggie. She was awesome quick to follow up with orders. Everything came out hot. Very friendly places got a great atmosphere. It was a fun time. Food was awesome. Highly recommend it. We were here on Thursday night for the Syracuse nationals.
We went here for a work outing and we had a great time. The outdoor tables are really nice. We were pretty loud and obnoxious and had no issues. The food was pretty good but the burger was dry. I would give everything an 8/10 except the burger was like a 5. I also had to send something back which I hate because of onions that were cooked into something I asked for without onions. Overall I would go back.
Alexis did amazing job coordinating our rehearsal dinner. Food was delicious. Aimee, our server was phenomenal. They even boxed up leftover food from buffet to take home. Many people commented on what a wonderful experience. Thank you Waterfront Tavern!
Had a great meal and drinks on the deck this past week. Short wait so we got a buzzer and waited inside at the bar. Seated in probably 10 minutes or less, was moderately busy. Escargot appetizer was awesome. I had a Buffalo Caesar salad which was good, and my boyfriend has the Waterfront burger with grilled pineapple and loved it. We will be back again on another nice day to sit on the deck and enjoy the view.
Not a good night for 2-4-1 clams. Gritty and 3 not open. Still friendly service. Always friendly service. Ordered the Blackened Salmon Waterfront Salad. It was the night's special. Delicious!
we had reservations. there was Noone to set us. had to go look for a server to ask for a table for our party of 7 .
First beautiful day so We decided on the Waterfront! We had the seafood platter & strip steak for our meals. The seafood platter was delicious. The strip steak had great flavor although ordered medium and was served well done. Our waitress was great. Two meals two drinks each $65.00 - definitely would go back but need to know what the chef considers medium was the only downside
I had a burger that was really good. Place was pleasant. Nice view. Patio looks spectacular in good weather.
Very nice place to go to on a beautiful breezy day. Lunch was good...next time I visit, I will get the haddock sandwich. I ordered the fish tacos, they were nice tasting however it was difficult to tell if I had fish in the tacos. I guess I was excepting a noticeable piece of fish, which wasn't the case. It was instead fish mixed in with the slaw...more slaw than fish, if you ask me. Also, it was suppose to come with homemade chips, that didn't happen either because they ran out of them. But with all that said, I believe the service made up for it all. Would go again, I would recommend that you try it out as well.
Had the Steamers and Lobster Bisque. Steamers were well cooked and the bisque was flavorful and hot. Others had Haddock Bites and Linguini in Clam Sauce. The bites were well cooked and flavorful as was the linguini. The linguini was floating in a fair amount of juice. Service was a tad slow.
It's November and we were still able to comfortably sit outside on the deck and enjoy lunch. My wife had a fish sandwich and I had a Philly steak sandwich with sweet potato fries and both very good.
This place has great table locations right next to the river, and the staff are very nice. The food we picked was only par, but most of the tables were full and everyone seemed to be enjoying a beautiful dinner along the river at sunset.
Nicole and Megan provided amazing service for our over 60 people party! Our meatballs and Gianelli sausage were so delicious and all of the food was presented very well. We especially appreciated them accommodating our people who were gluten-free! It was a great place to gather and they did not rush us out! Ww would definitely do it all over again! 😊
This place has the best riverfront view you can imagine. That being said the place is a little dated from the decor to the food. Don't get me wrong it was good just not as good as it could be. Had the lobster rossoto and it was passable. Just not inspiring. Went to this location probably 50 plus years ago for fried chicken with my family. Nostalgic. Don't count em out.
This is a great little place with an amazing atmosphere. The patio is the place to be in the evening looking over the lake. They have fresh catch of the day menu, and let me recommend the walleye sandwhich. The only reason I would not give 5 stars is that the service here was a bit poor and slow. We didn't get any refills on drinks, nor did the server come back to check on us after the food was brought out. Otherwise, everything else was great!
Great location obviously right on Oneida Lake. Food is good, nothing fancy, and the service is very good. As far as beer and wine go, not much of a variety. Overall, worth going to if you can sit outside.
Been going to waterfront for MANY years. Food is okay, had some great meals and some bad meals over the years; the allure is being on the water in the summer. At that time it's an absolute BLAST! Tonight we stopped in for a few drinks and bartender that was the biggest b**** ever. Drinks were great! But she complained very loudly and consistently about what was on the tvs the whole time we were there. We would have stayed longer and spent more money but she was so rude she alienated all 6 of us that were in the bar, to the point we all left. Totally unprofessional. Google picked the wrong night to ask me for a review... any other time I would probably have given a better review, we just had a terrible experience there tonight.
Went on fathers day...Will never go back. Used to be very good but after a few not so good experiences this last was the final chance. Ordered fish tacos and I don't know which was colder...the ice cream for desert or the tacos. Step father ordered scallops and equally as cold. The ladies meals were all fried food so they were warm at least. Horrible quality last few visits and service was slow.
I have been tring to make a reservation for the Front Enclosed Porch for 20+ people for Sept. 5. I have been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks., I have called twice everday day for the past 3 weeks and I cannot talk to the "MANAGER?" to make this reservation. What a way to treat a customer.
Service was very slow, there were 6 of us. The burger was raw, the waitress had the meal taken off the bill because at that point she couldn't eat any of it. We had to ask for utensils and it was so loud but that is something that they can not control. Every one else's meals were very tasty.
UR paying for the water front view, which is nice. Don't get me wrong, but everything else was meh, IMO. Family of 4 visited on a Tuesday about 3pm...not very busy but very slow. Attention from a server took forever, drinks took forever, food not as long. It wuz a bit hot out, so maybe we were impatient, but the place wuz near empty. Came by boat, so love the free dock, but IDK it just wasn't that good enough for us to want to come back..
The view is nice and outdoor deck is great. But service was slow and the food quality was mediocre. My fried haddock was just so so; seemed like they needed to change the oil in their fryer. The lobster bisque wasn't great either. My husband had chicken wings and they weren't very crispy. We aren't normally that picky about food, but wouldn't be in a hurry to go back here to eat. But great spot for drinks and to listen to music by the water, or watch sports and the bar.
The Palm Trees lured us in. The Food is pretty basic, as were the drinks. Inside is pretty "broke in", but the deck has a nice vibe to it with its Tiki Bar and live music. My best review goes to the service staff.. all around great service.
Entering the restaurant no one greeted us...the bar tender said pick a table any where...very confusing...well we d never been we werent sure where to go. Wanted to sit by water...as it was pouring rain...their were empty tables but not wiped off...and the waitresses mumbled something that we dant sit there...so we sat up in a dark corner on the porch. Lily our waitress was sweet and attentive. The restaurant is worn and needs updating. When we went to leave the parking lot was totally flooded and water flowing like a river...to get to our car we had to walk in ankle deep water! Don't think we ll be back...and I imagine no one at Warerfront Tavern cares.
Food was decent but nothing to get excited about. Our waitress was very slow, inattentive, and forgetful.
At first started off wrong not sure if it was the color of our skin. When asked for another drink we did receive good service from the manager. The view was beautiful and food not too bad. If the treatment was better this would have made a good place to relax, eat, and chill. Afraid to go back because the color of our skin we were not treated that well. It felt odd like we did not belong.
Loved the food and cocktail but unfortunately the restaurant seemed under staffed. I had to go to the bar to place another order for a drink, the bartender seemed annoyed because she was trying to eat her lunch. Then when it came to pay the bill we just walked up to the bar and paid because the waitress seemed very overwhelmed and not able to keep up with everything.
Although the service was incredible and the view was breathtaking I would not recommend this place for young ladies looking for a cute dinner. Entrance not clearly marked, weird smells, and tons of old men staring like the had never seen a woman in their lives. Food…….. not good. Soggy, sad, and a bit satanic. (If you know what I mean). Live music was a nice touch and I would pay a hefty amount to see the dude In concert. Overall disgusting.
Not worth the effort. The food was ok everything just didn't seem finished . I can get better at a food truck. The friendliest person was the hostess. Maybe she should train the staff on what hospitality means. The patio deck just showed a lack of caring by the owner.
Food selection at this place is terrible and the three times I've been there, each dish has been disappointing. Draft beers have some magnetic stoppers filled with chemicals in every drink. Seems dirty. Wait staff always seem too busy and not caring. The only reason I go to this place is because my mother likes to go there.
The staff was kind and friendly. The atmosphere was beautiful with a view of the lake and the boats passing by. The food however was awful! Linguini with clam sauce was nothing but over cooked noodles with what tasted like clam flavored water, and it was drowning the noodles in this flavorless clam water. Shrimp scampi was so-so but very small portion and over priced. the appetizer came after the meal did. Tried dessert and the pie is ehh with watery whipped cream. I will never eat here again. The only positive feedback I can give is the view of the lake, and the waitress was kind also there when we needed her.
The place looked like it could be a nice scene from the outside.. but don't count on even decent service, a clean environment or good food for the cost. We were not even greeted while standing waiting for someone to seat us. We finally sat ourselves and then waited about 15 mins to be acknowledged. The highchair I had to put my child in was FILTHY even after I wiped it down the best I could. There is no changing table in the bathroom. To top it all off the service wasn't even remotely friendly from anyone we encountered.
Food was very good. Soup and appetizers came at same time as meal, when I said something to my server she got a manager. The manager agreed to take soup and appetizers off the bill then proceeded to take them off the table. I’ve never!!! There is no handicap stall in ladies room on deck and inside dining was closed.
Disappointed in the food and will not be back. We ate here years ago and the food was great. Not sure what's changed. French Onion Soup was really salty and cold. Chicken Parm Dinner was blah...seemed like the pasta was sitting around for days and just thrown on the dish with some marinara sauce that was microwaved. Gross. The pasta even had a weird taste to it! For the price, def not worth it.
Beautiful afternoon on the deck. His beers were literally ice cold, mine were luke warm. Both rounds. I had to get a glass of ice for my beer. Ick. The steamed clams were good. He had a pasta dish with artichokes and chicken off of the menu. The chicken was distinctively two different pieces of meat. Half was ok. The other half was most definitely precooked and rewarmed in a microwave until it was dried out and too hard to even stab with a fork or to eat. Gross. The white sauce was pretty flavorless also. Not impressive. I ordered the quesadillla special. Very disappointed. It was basically SteakUms in a tortilla shell with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and a few mushrooms and an Asian zing type sauce in it. Pretty bland and not worth finishing. But I've always found that type of meat has a weird flavor and texture. The sweet potato fries were eh, ok. The waitresses, although very busy, were all friendly and efficient tho. I don't usually leave crappy reviews, we've been here a few times each summer for the last 8 yrs or so, but the hour drive we made there to eat yesterday was so not worth it. They were very busy as usual, hopefully there quality isn't slipping due to the active summer business. We probably won't return this year.
Bar tender took 30 minutes to serve us with 3 other people at the bar. Waited an hour and a half for cold food. This place has definitely gone down hill.
First off, this is a restaurant you should bring cash to as there's a 3.75% charge added for using a credit card. Second off, the food isn't great. The fish fry didn't have any flavor but was nice and crispy. The chicken riggies have a little spice but the consistency isn't what I expected from other restaurants. And my burger... I ordered a Southwest Burger that should be onion rings, pepper jack, lettuce, and sauce... I got a burger with a dry white cheese, jalapenos, and bacon. But the waitress told me it was what I ordered. Bathroom toilet was broken and the handle was falling off. Overall, not impressed.
Location is great, the live music was great. We ordered an appetizer, chicken strips which were great. I had the fried haddock dinner which was eh.. it kind of was soggy and was served on a thin paper which it stuck to so every other bite I had to peel off the paper. Girlfriend ordered chicken riggies, ($20) and her plate had 5 noodles and a maybe half a piece of chicken.. told the waitress that it was unacceptable, and there was something wrong but I guess not, there portions we were told contained 8 noodles..? Never heard of such a thing.. waitress was nice though and brought us 5 more noodles… I don’t recommend the haddock or chicken riggies to anyone
Staff was good but took to long to get the food and that was mediocre and way over priced don't think I will never come back....
My husband and I are always on the hunt to try new restaurants so we made the drive from Auburn to try out this restaurant. Right away, walking through the door the place was filthy and had an odd odor; almost like stale urine. Many tables indoors were not bused. We opted to eat outside and again there was filth all over the grounds, tables not cleared. The place was dead. Probably about 4 other tables in total. The tables remained dirty and the floors a wreck for the total time of our stay. The waitress was kind enough but took forever to check on us. We were there for about an hour before receiving our food. We will not be returning.
The outdoor deck area is great. However the "service " was non existent. First of all there is no one inside to great you so you wander through the place to try and find the actual restaurant area. There was a definite propane leak inside the restaurant. When you get to the back deck you are seated quickly but then ignored. We waited for 25min for someone to at least take our drink order but they never came over even for that so we left. It appeared most of their wait staff was compromised of teenagers so I am guessing that there was just a lake of general experience there but with so many other great places in the area its not worth the trip.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The only good thing about this place was the outdoor patio with the view. The food was basic, had little to no taste and was over priced for what you receive. But that would have been fine if our waitress wasn’t so rude. Our waitress acted like it was our problem that her section changed. She never asked us if we wanted our bill she closed our tabs and basically told us we needed to wrap things up because we weren’t in her section anymore. Her attitude was awful and needless to say she could have made a lot off our $300 bill but walked away with little to no tip at all.
We thought we would try this place and bring a couple friends. Started off with table very sticky. Coleslaw was spoiled but waitress was quick to replace with something else. Waitress gave me bill and paid the $113.07 with my credit card. Came back and noticed there was a additional $4.26 charge. Also left a $20 cash tip. I got back home and noticed nowheres on the receipt it says this charge.Just a larger amount when I checked out with online banking. Very deceptive practices not disclosing this or giving an itemized bill explaining this charge.
Having seafood for dinner it was the worst seafood I've ever had in my life, the oil probably hasn't been changed in a year, the place was full of flies, and the prices are outrageous. No salad for a $25 seafood platter, no rolls. I can't believe anyone would patronized this place, no soup of the day, no steaks and no calamari. And the finishing touch was I went to the restroom to wash the grease off my hands from the burnt oil and there was no paper towels I believe this is a New York State health violation the place ought to be closed for the filth and flies. And then they have the gall to try to charge you 3.75% service charge to use a credit card.
I would give zero stars if I could. Lobster Bisque was too salty and no lobster. Wings didn't have any sauce on them. Had to send them back. I only ate 2 onion rings and 3 chicken wings. Went home feeling like I had a belly full of grease. Waitress was nice. This was our 3rd time trying it and this time was the final "bad" experience with lousy food priced too high. The only good thing about it is that it is on the lake. That's not enough for me to waste money on crappy food.
Waterfront is probably the best and only thing going for this place. The waitress was having a stressful day cause she sure wasn’t having a good day when she got to our table of 8 Three of us were served cold soup and when it was returned it was the same soups but”new spoons” were places in them. Our main lunch was also served semi warm and not edible for some of us. Waitress didn’t bother to even ask if all was well. Let’s hope they never loose the view there.
Very disrespectful owner. After purchasing a wrist band for the chicken wing run and being with dozens of people spending hundreds of dollars we said we lost a wrist band instead of the owner offering to replace to wrist hand he took the food off our table and told us to get lost. Extremely unprofessional the disrespect of him towards customers is disgraceful. I couldn’t imagine being his employee. What a shame beautiful place with piss poor ownership …
Food was not great - wings were rubbery and lacked flavour. Waitress was not really great, average at best. Very slow. What really annoyed me was the $6 fee that I was charged to use my credit card to pay. I wouldn’t recommend and I will never return.
We made a reservation for 10 people. It wasn't busy at all tonight. We had an awesome waiter. The drinks and appetizers were good. We order and after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes what came out of the kitchen was disgusting. All the food was cold. The pasta was dried out. The food was so cold the butter on the salt potatoes had solidified. I would never recommend this place nor we will head back there again. Very disappointing
Food was horrible. Over cooked "pink" burgers. Rest if food had no taste. Seemed like frozen food reheated. The server was ok. Didn't return to table..after food was served. Deck boards rotten, dirty restroom, dirty silverware and cups. This place was great back in the day..needs a major renovation and update.
Wing night Downer! Stopped on weds. the 4th sat at the outside bar was greeted by Dana she was very friendly and got me a drink right away. I ordered the wings as they were half price. I waited well over an hour for 10 hot wings. They came with 3 very small pieces of celery and a half serving of blue cheese. so i asked for some more celery. 15mins later i got the extra celery 3 more small pieces and half serving of blue cheese. The wings were almost dry i dont know what they did with the hot sauce!!! Well i eat get another drink and ask for the bill. The Bill--- I got charged $2.50 for the hot sauce on my wings which were dry hardly any sauce on them. Then i get another up charge for $2.50 for the extra 3 pieces of celery and half cup of blue cheese. Not going back for wings here.
Well, the view from the deck was very nice, and I appreciated the juxtaposition of faux log cabin interior with faux tropical exterior (the fake palm trees were great!) but the New England clam chowder was the single worst food item I have ever been served in a restaurant in my 54 years of living. And I have been served some pretty terrible food. The folks who got the perch were quite happy, but the woman who ordered the Linguine and Clam Sauce thought there was a distinct "popcorn butter flavor" to the dish, I thought it was the second worst food I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Plus, it was all pretty cold when it finally came to our table. "Nevermore" quoth the Raven...
If I could give it zero stars I would...the food and service was absolutely the worst! Lobster bisque tasted like oil and fake crab out of a can and was ice cold...The A-1 steakhouse burger reminded me of a 3 day old dead animal on the side of brewerton road. Speaking of A-1 the bottle is filled with water and poured all over the burger.. the haddock was cold and had no flavor. Fries greasy and no seasoning. Last and definitely least the steamers came out 15 mins after our meal and were rubber globs of sea trash...the butter was multiple layers of cholesterol and tasted like plastic....just being honest never coming back.
The chairs were awful. There were no gluten free options, nor did the server have any suggestions for gluten free dishes. There was far too much plastic... glasses, side dishes, straws. Albiet, it was a lovely setting. Time to come into this century folks! The food was mediocre at best...salted potatoes???Really? No sour cream, bacon bits, chives Will not be back.
Dirty water pitchers and dressing containers. If that is what you put on the table, it concerns me as to how your kitchen looks. Appetizer ordered with no plates or even extra napkins provided. Some plates ordered with chips but came with fries. Waitress said no chips so subbed fries. If what was ordered was not available, why not ask? My family was half done with their meals by the time mine even arrived. If it wasn't a Mother's Day, I would have complained about the experience.
Went to the waterfront Sunday afternoon. It was beautiful outside. The outside deck was not too crowded. Service was terrible, Drinks were New York City expensive… The food was OK. Overall a D- Waterfront used to be amazing now it’s not so great. Life Drainage
If You're Expecting good service I would stay away from this place the food is below average the service is absolutely brutally terrible I knew it when we first sat down but it was decided to follow through not sure how a waitress with that kind of attitude could ever keep a job
the only good part about trying this place is the view of the water and our waitress was nice. The spaghetti was very bland and had a strange taste, the nachos not appetizing at all and the mushroom and cheese burgers were horrible other than the temperature. and as you can see we barely ate other than the fries and the entire bill was 60. and change plus the ten dollar tip we left.
