San Sivar Costa Mesa Reviews
Arguably the best pupusas in town! There's always a bit of a wait after ordering, but the shop next door has good snacks and other goodies from Central America.
Great popusas had the chicharron and mixta. Love that the popusas are not greasy.
If you're looking for authentic Salvadorian food, this is the spot. You can tell they cook things to order here. I was craving some good pupusas, and we found this place on Google Maps, and I'm glad we did. Excited to go back again.
Amazing authentic pupusas, order was walk-in and to-go, and my entire order was delicious and complete. There was a 30 minute wait due to the numerous orders before me, but that just speaks to the popularity of this amazing restaurant. The empanadas reminded me of my childhood and the horchata is perfectly Salvadoran. Very happy I stopped in here today.
A hole-in-the wall with delicious, mouth-watering, home-made style food, see the accompanying image. One of those places where the dining area is almost barren because the food does ALL the talking and you still leave impressed. However, it is a clean location, and well-staffed. The pupusas were great, I would say the best I've had here in Orange County. (Best in the U.S. would be in L.A.) Dish in the photo is a Pollo Guisado and it's as great as it looks!
Pupusas are delicious.. the location is tiny and it does get busy . Even with a phone order you still have to wait 15-30 mins . It kinda makes it uncomfortable because the place is tiny and it gets packed ..there’s no place where to sit and wait for your order . The parking also gets busy . But the food is delicious 😋
The number 1 spot in Costa Mesa so far when it comes to pupusas! Fresh all the time. I usually take my food to go and call in advance for my order. The venue is small I think 9X13. The Agua De Ensalada is amazing! I had forgotten what nances were. The cheese used on the pupusas is legit! 👌 delicious 😋
This spot is in a tiny strip mall and connected to a bakery by the same name (i think). Everything is made fresh to order, so expect a wait. Line up to place your order/ pay and take a seat in the tiny no frills dining room. My faves here are the bean and cheese pupusa l, platanos con frijoles and crema, and the MVP caldo pollo criollo, aka chicken soup is delightful! I love this little shop.
We tried the pupusas and chile relleno. Both were delicious! If you want good service, go to cash register to ask for things like to-go boxes. (If you ask for stuff like that while seated, you won’t get it - at least I didn’t.)
My mom introduced me to this little whole on the wall Salvadoran restaurant. Popusas are great and the caldo de res is one of my fav dishes. The place is small , always packed, whole you wait for a seat you can place your order and pay for it so when a seat becomes available your food is already on its way.
The food I love. I recommend this place however the restaurant is so small and crowded making it difficult to dine in. I ordered 2 simple tamales which took 40 minutes and I received them COLD!?? I was disappointed.
I came here and ordered pupusas. The pupusa mixta(mixed) was ok with very little to no filling and it was dry. The pupusa with loroco was very good and had a good taste of loroco. The room was crowded, and service was efficient. I spent $12 for two pupusas and a drink. The drink, te de jamaica, was very very sweet. Overall, I’ve had better pupusas around. However, this is still a decent place to go if you’re nearby.
Came in at 11:39 to order, was told I couldn't sit down because the table was for the person that ordered before me. Did not even ask if we were going to eat there or take out. So we ordered, and then watched as others came in and out with their food. We were still waiting. After 40 minutes went to ask where our 5 pupusas order was timewise so that we could just go wait in the car, she said "oh she's packing them up right now", 10 minutes later our bag with our 5 pupusas came. Saddened by the service. Will not come back to this location.
Pupusa was ok. But if your asian don't go here. They will treat you different, you wont feel welcomed.
Went there with my son, and I wanted to expose him to something new. Came in sat down waited 15 min went by waitress was helping everyone else. Then the customer next to me said that the waitress wasn't going to serve us and if we wanted anything he would order for us. I felt very discriminated against. We wonder why people are racist. I know they would not have treated that way at a Pho place. Just saying.
My first time going there and most likely my last. I can only speak for the Caldo de res. $18.00 it cost for a bowl of this soup. I thought for sure for that price I would get good portions. But I was wrong! it came with four small pieces of meat the size of chicken nuggets at best. It’s like a starter soup a a restaurant. Not good portion at all. How do you justify charging $18 for broth, vegetables and 4 small pieces of meat. Now I have to go somewhere else to buy food because I’m still hungry and I spent almost $20.00 already I called to voice my concern (I was respectful but honest) The lady basically told me she doesn't make the prices and hung up on me. Please, the soup tasted good but you are ripping people off at that price. Make bigger portions or lower the price!
