Absolutely great American restaurant. Lots of delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner choices in the menu. Quite a few great dessert.

Great place for a good meal. Food is great (we all sometimes forget what good old fashion food tastes like) just good food. The service I've received has been perfect. Can't say enough good about this place. Visit and get surprised that a place like this is still around

We love Ana!!! The best waitress, host, ever! We started coming to Pieloon several years ago when we moved to the area. Ana is always welcoming with a cheery smile and kindness. No matter what kind of day you’ve had, you leave feeling appreciated and happy. The food is always delicious and prices are reasonable. They have an excellent selection of daily specials, vegetarian, senior specials & incredible pies… hence the name. We’ve tried everything from fish, salad, steak, burgers, breakfast, and their soups are excellent as well. But the main reason we continue to come back is the service. The entire staff is great; but if you just listen to Ana the way she treats all of the guests you’ll see what we mean. She is a super star!!!

This place has been around for a very long time- for a good reason! I feel good supporting a local business and you simply cannot go wrong with ANY of the pies.

This was my 1st time visiting this restaurant and I must say, I've been missing out all these years! The restaurant is of a good size and also very well kept. You can tell whomever maintains this establishment takes great pride in their work! We had breakfast, and it was pretty good! My girlfriend ordered a French Toast dish which came with eggs, sausage and bacon. I ordered the chilaquiles with eggs and their house potato cuts along with a 12oz sirloin steak and pancakes! All this for just $44! I definitely see myself coming back in the near future!

Great little place. My wife and I shared a chicken salad sandwich, and it was delicious. The server was very attentive, and the place was clean. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

They have a shaded patio seating. The food was delicious and well seasoned. There is a short wait for your food. It's good if you don't mind the heat.

Best place to get your pies!!!! I went in hopes to get a pecan pie night before thanksgiving...sold out! But!!!! They were pulling fresh ones out of the oven for next day sales...I scored a piping hot fresh pie! Thank you pieloon team!

New year's day breakfast did not disappoint. I have always passed by this place on my way to the Stonewood Mall and finally decided to give it a try. Glad we did. Coffee and breakfast was delicious. Had the French Toast combo and it was made to perfection. Nice little cozy place to have some good food. Highly recommend if you are in the Downey area.

This review is to give Melanie recognition for providing exceptional service. This was my 3rd time visiting. The first time we had an amazing server he was an older gentleman, he was very attentive and on point. The 2nd time I had a woman server short hair not very tall she was not attentive at all very bad service to the point where I wasn't planning to return, but I ended up coming a 3rd time unfortunately I ended up with the same server she dyed her hair blue a repeat of bad service. Thankfully I saw Melanie running around attending to guests I asked her for help as my server forgot several things and kept bypassing me. Melanie picked up our servers slack and did it with a smile and no hesitation. Whenever Melanie passed by she checked on me making sure I was good unlike our server. Our server took our order and gave us our check and never once checked on us, horrible service. Anyhow Melanie deserves all the recognition. She should be considered a valuable asset to your team, I truly hope management gives her the recognition she deserves and a big fat raise to go with it.

Oh man where do I begin. If you love sweets then you'll love the strawberry cheesecake, the crust and the strawberries 🔥🔥🔥. I went for breakfast had 🥩 and 🍳 with there awesome potatoes 🥔 , awesome staff very friendly highly recommend going there.

I love this place and never disappointed in my meal option. My go to is soup and salad or roasted turkey dinner. Last two visits, a large serving of a taco salad then went back a week later for the meatloaf supper. Strawberry lemonade is a must!

Great local spot in Downey known for their delicious pies! They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Had chosen the sunrise burger that comes with an egg, bacon, lettuce tomatoes and onion and the burger patty. Came with a side of thick cut fries. Tonight we visited Pieloon to have a casual dinner. We ordered the cheeseburger with fries, includes bacon, lettuce and tomato and a side of fries. The meat patty was a generous thick size and well cooked. I love their fries, nicely cooked thick steak fries. I couldn’t finish my portion. I ordered the chicken club sandwich, served on squaw bread with lettuce, tomato, avocado and fries. It is a triple decker, and will satisfy a big appetite. Ambiance was casual and tranquil. A nice night to get out and support our local Downey small businesses. I recommend Pieloon 😊 #downey

Righteous diner in LA. Service is good, food is wholesome, atmosphere is friendly. I'm in town for 20 days... I'm eating here 15 times. Menu is broad without being absurd (I'm looking at YOU Cake Cheese Factory). My favorite touch? My soda comes WITH a carafe for self refills. GLORY! I'm coming back for Prime Rib, pasta and chili. Let's not forget the home made pie. Sweet LAWDY Jesus. Maybe 25 times.

I love pieloon! Classic diner food & friendly service. Typically I go for the all-day breakfast but this time I ordered the almond melt with cottage fries (my fave) & was not disappointed. Great chicken salad, almond pieces were a little big but really yummy in contrast with the rest of the sandwich! My only complaint was being sat in the back by the restroom where our server seemingly forgot about us for 10-15 mins when we got there. Otherwise great as always!!

I was here for work, the owners were both very nice and friendly. I had just had lunch before going there but I was able to take a banana cream pie. One of my nieces just loves this pie and decided to have one to go to share with the family. It was delicious, the banana cream with the fresh bananas was perfect with a cup of coffee. Will definitely go here again for a meal, I expect the food to be as good as dessert.

The people were great. The food was good. Although I felt like something was missing. Cannot put my finger on it. However, we were hungry. You'll just have to visit and judge for yourself. And don't forget to get a piece of pie. Always good with coffee!

Everything tastes homemade and made with care. A big thank you to Sal, who is always so kind and helpful. He makes everyone feel welcome and truly adds to that sense of home Pieloon has always had. I found this restaurant when I was looking up places to eat near Golf N' Stuff in Norwalk. I love diners and even though they were packed with people, the place felt authentic and homey. My husband had corned beef hash and my daughter had ravioli and they said they liked it, but I had the hot turkey sandwich and it was real turkey and mashed potatoes! Here's the bummer, the kitchen ran out of cranberry sauce for my dish and wasn't going to bring it up but I pointed it out because that's my favorite part(c'mon guys, a week before Thanksgiving and you don't have cranberry sauce?), and we shared a slice of dutch apple pie after and it was cloyingly sweet and dry at the same time(streusel was like eating sawdust), and we had high hopes for the pie since that type is standard and they have "pie" in their name. A little tight outside parking and inside when it's busy. No discounts for no cranberry sauce but I would go back to have their comfort food in this neighborhood family restaurant, maybe if I go to mini golf again.

We opted to try this place for the first time on Thanksgiving, rather than cooking and having to do all the cleaning afterwards I did not disappoint. The food was delicious. The cheese bread was off the hook. We eat it so fast I think I forgot to take a picture. it wasn’t too busy. Although when we left it was getting crowded parking is pretty easy as well. No disappointments here I’d love to try on the dishes. I’m sure they’re all good as well.

Today was my our first encounter at Pieloon, Downey. We were received with very friendly, home greeting. The food was delicious and still warm on the plate. Salsa is freshly made for each table. The server Minerva was very kind and attentive. The entire staff is very professional.

Brought someone from Arizona here for lunch. Purposeful sat at a table we once saw Karen Carpenter & her mother used. My salad had endless treats sprinkled throughout but the cheese toast rules! So much food served meant no room for pie. Will remedy that on my next visit.

Pieloon is a locals place to eat. The food is good and the staff is friendly. Overflow parking can be had at the mall. Their pies are taste and made there too.

Our 1sr time here. Overall, it was a good experience. Not vibrant but relax ambiance (at least for costumers 🙂) The restaurant was busy so food and service were few minutes late. The steak was overcooked and we had to wait extra time for another one, but the waffle had enough fruit just the way i like it. The waitresses were very nice and professional. I will definitely try it again.

The service is good but on the bright side the pieloon omelette is delicious, ask for some pico de gallo and seranos for extra tastiness. The food is what keeps me coming back! My partner loves the chilaquiles with green sauce. We both get the super spuds which are home style potatoes with onions and bell peppers. It also comes with a side of toast and I love the squaw toast with butter and jams!

The food is great, service was pretty fast this time. Parking here can be challenging. Bring your check up to the cashier to pay.

A pleasant surprise to find this place with great homemade comfort food. Great service, great food, very pleasant wait staff, and awesome pies to finish off the meals. We had a variety of items: chipotle chicken pasta, burgers on sourdough bread, chicken fried steak, and prime rib. The burgers were great, and I'd have to say that the chicken-fried steak is the best I've had outside of Texas. If you haven't been to Pieloon, you really don't know what you are missing. The food and service is a solid "5" rating. The quaint rustic atmosphere in booths is a "3.5" rating. Great dinner, lunch, and breakfast.

It's a cute little restaurant. But the tables are sticky, the forks have food stuck on them.the women's restroom is dirty and no toilet paper and no seat covers, I would not use the restroom even if it was clean, the toilet seat is yellow because it's so dirty. Ordered a chicken, Ceasar salad with no cruton's instead of croutons.They added about two whole tomatoes. Never have I had a chicken caesar salad with tomatoes odd. Decided to try out Pieloon last night after hearing so many great things on our local Downey FB page. It did not disappoint. Nice little diner with a country decor. Great customer service. The dishes are good portioned and the food it came out fast . I also tried the Pecan Pie and it was delicious only thing missing was the whipped cream or ice cream with it.

Been wanting to try this place for a while now, service was wonderful, the atmosphere was comfortable the appetizer sampler was delicious. The salad was fresh and good. Beef soup was like home. I am guessing I was expecting a sizzler baked potato with fixings but I guess that was my fault for not asking. The steak was bland and cooked to how I liked it. We tried the grilled salmon but it was extremely fishy tasting, chicken alfredo was good and the spaghetti was good reminded me of just a basic spaghetti dish from shakey's. The service !! I tried to get a to go lunch and I couldn't because it was so time consuming everything I tried to order off of the special menu They gave me wasn't available. I don't know why they give a menu for to go order and nothing was available on it or they had to ask the cook . I asked please I don't have time can you please just give me a menu that I can order off of . It took 2 people to try to help me . I finally just had to leave I couldn't find anything I could actually order that was available at 1:30 . Why would you give a customer a menu that has items that aren't available . Next time I go back I will make sure I have the time to study the menu and give the waitress time to ask the cook if each item on the menu are available.

This review is solely based on the service. Me and my wife have been coming here for years! The food is good, and the place has that nice cozy diner feel. However, these past few times we have come the services has been horrible, the gentleman that sat us is so rude and seems to be fed up with his duties of his position, I believe he is a manager of some sort which makes it worse. Once we have been seated, it takes forever to be seen by the waitress, I do understand they get busy, but this has happened every time as of late. I am not sure if they are understaffed, but it is noticeable that something is not as it once was. With the time they leave u there waiting, you start to notice more negatives, for example, the cleanliness. Next time u are there and are sitting at a window booth, take a look at those little curtains and how much stains and food are on them, disgusting. Not to mention all the food and dirt on the window seals. Think it's time for a new breakfast spot for my wife and I.

First and last time coming to this place. It’s a mess trying to check in for a table. Only thing I enjoyed was the biscuit and gravy. The rest of the food taste bland.

January 6-2024 First time, this year for a club meeting. will definitely NOT coming back to Pieloon , their food was pretty disappointing . Husband ordered his buttermilk pancakes , it came very plain . There was no butter, no whip cream, no toppings at all, he had to be asking for butter. My country steak to share , the egg was nasty and overcooked, 🤮

I left all the plate taste and looks disgusting The lemonade without lemon The worse !!Costumer service !! When I paid , YES I PAID!! I didn’t eat nothing But they still charge me They didn’t ask me how was it The worse place ever!!!

VERY rude. First they brought us the wrong drink. Ok it's fine someone else took it anyway. Then they just never brought the drink. We asked about it after 15 minutes and they said sorry were out of coke. So we got another soda instead. They finally took our order after sitting for 20 minutes. Then it took another 40 minutes to get our food. The wait was one thing, they were busy, but the table next to us ordered a good half hour after us and got their food before us. Got no real apology. When we went in to pay and ask what was up. The cashier just stuck out her hand in a grabby motion for our card. No comps no, real apology, not even a free slice of pie for the 2 hours of waiting and sub par treatment.

I showed up , they let other people pass before me and when I told the manager he answered me really rude 👇 disappointed with the attitude and the guy . I will not come back I have to stayed because I had no choice since I got invited by my friend to this place . (There’s ways to handle customers, I’m in the customer service too for 15 years with the best reviews of what I do )

I’ve been coming here for years and I have to say the staff is horrible. They have an attitude they don’t want to serve on you. They don’t come back to check up on you for a refill and every time you order a drink it barely even has any kind of ice maybe like 3 pieces of ice literally their staff is extremely rude The service is poor so to be honest their food is not the same I ordered A vegetable beef soup and they end up giving me salad twice when you order, I do feel in my heart that they don’t care and when you order, they don’t write nothing down. They try to memorize it and when they try to memorize it, of course it’s all backwards. I never ordered a salad. I ordered a soup and they end up giving me a salad twice and they’re the ones that are mad. Let me tell you they’re so cheap on their ice. they don’t care to serve on you when I went to go try to wash my hands in the bathroom, there were 00 toilet paper bathroom was filthy

Usually great. But today just now the service was horrible. I literally just walked out. Restroom floor was sticky. Staff walking pass without seating me or saying anything to me. I finally asked someone do I sit anywhere and she told me wait for someone who on the other side of the restaurant. That person told me to sit anywhere so I wanted to sit where I could see the TV but then the original lady I asked told her to take me to the other side in the back away from the the TV. I wish the owner was there. In 20 yrs never anything this goofy. It was not even crowded it was empty. Incredibly disappointed because now I'm going to a different food establishment and I wanted to eat there. I'm not clairvoyant but signs said walk out.

Horrible food bad bad service took them 25 minutes to serve a BLT and waffles when I complaint to the manager he yes said I’m sorry that’s all Mercer again I forgot fries not cook bad

Dined for the 1st time in this local place. Food that we ordered were pretty good. My husband had a large serving of Chicken Berry Walnut Salad. He transferred like a third of the serving size to an extra plate leaving 2/3 of the salad leftover neatly in place on the serving plate. He consumed what he got together with soup and garlic bread that came with it. It was very filling. He packed the 2/3 in a to go box like it was presented on the plate with most of the chicken and berries on top. As the service staff was bussing out the table, she accidentally dropped the box on floor and that's okay as accidents do happen. She apologized and graciously said she will have a new one made in the kitchen to replace it. The disappointment came when my husband opened the salad at home only to find out that the same to go box that fell on the floor was used in topping up the salad with a small amount of veggies. No meat was replaced and the cranberry dressing marks were still on the box cover. We got grossed out and had to dump the salad as the same box that landed on the floor was the exact same one we got as replacement. Service was good but food safety awareness was severely lacking. Management need to train staff on food safety asap.

I wanted to love this place. I ate here as a kid and was excited to bring my family — two adults and my 1-year-old toddler — for a visit down memory lane. Unfortunately, we never made it to the table. The wait system is just a clipboard — no host, no organization. We were fine with that and signed in. The problem was that there's nowhere to wait inside, so we were stuck on a bench outside in the sun with no shade on a hot day, including my infant. After about 25 minutes I stepped to the car for 2 minutes to grab supplies. The Two adults stayed with toddler that our name wasn't called but they got few other people. When I returned to go check, our name had been crossed off — and so had several others — while latecomers were already being served. I brought this up to staff and was met with confusion, I felt like she was going to correct the situation but then she argued with another server and then came back then told me I'd have wait another 10–15 minutes. No acknowledgment of the oversight, no apology, no urgency. When we finally decided to leave, the response from staff was indifferent — and the manager nearby didn't step in. The owner was present and visible throughout. That, more than anything, tells you where customer experience ranks here. I hope they address their front-of-house process, because if the food lives up to the reputation, it's being let down badly by the experience getting to it.

I go in at 745am to get breakfast and after reading the menu the waitress says oh it will be 34.52 . She tells me I have to pay first. Never met a diner where that was the case she says she had people skip out guess I fit the criteria. I paid it like I was going to but asked for it to go. I said is that like a policy you guys have she says sometimes. Never went there I drove by alot and when I finally stop in its like this yeah this place aint it go to I hop hell even norms better than this garbage

Waited for Refills. Never got, Waited for Ice tea and Never Received it. Waited For Garlic Bread and we finally got it from a Boss Boy. Our waitress did a tremendous poor job. I had to drink my wife's diet coke. NO TIP

Whole breakfast was not edible. Especially these potatoes. All of them empty inside with nothing but the oil dripping out. The young waitress had a careless attitude and rushed everything. Only good experience was the older man at the host stand. Hes very nice and helpful so thank you to him. It was our 3rd time back but definitely wont be coming back. Each time the quality decreases.
