Mateo's Fordyce Reviews
This was a very interesting location. Pretty cool on the inside, and good food.
Was greeted as soon as I walked in with a smile! The aromas of all the food hit me as soon as I walked in, so I knew it would be good. I had been craving guacamole for a while and let me just say, I got my fix plus more!! It was so fresh and delicious. I had to ask who made it…so kudos to Henry 😂 I woke up thinking about it!! I’ll definitely be back because my ranchero special was super good and seasoned too. Made me feel like I was at one of my Mexican friend’s home eating dinner instead of a restaurant!!!
Mateo's offers a warm and cozy family atmosphere alongside delicious, fresh, Mexican food. Their prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. My favorite is the Chorizo Chicken, which comes out on a hot skillet-platter that continues to cook the dish's cheese to a beautiful crisp around the edges. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. It's stellar!
The service is great. She didn't bug me but didn't leave me hanging either. Perfect service. Very friendly & not to mention the great food.
Everything was very good from here! We had an assortment of food. I recommend you try to punch, it's delicious. Also the coffee is superb!!
This place is amazing! Best food, best salsa, best cheese dip! They even have a coffee bar!! Super friendly and definitely go out of their way to take care of their customers. We stopped in here because it was close to a location we were visiting. We had been driving 2 and a half hours with our 19 month old baby. She was screaming as we entered the restaurant, tired and hungry. The owner asked what she could do for the baby. Before we even ordered our meal, the baby had rice and cheese. Thank you for being so thoughtful and kind!
Nice place. My mother and I liked the dishes we got. The only thing I’d recommend is to cook the bell peppers a bit more on some of the dishes. Otherwise really good. The salsa they use is amazing !
Never disappoints! This place is consistently great and always hits all the spots. You KNOW it's good when it hits more than just THE spot...haha!
Damn good food. The hot sauce is actually hot. And the waitress was very pleasant and just an all around friendly helpful demure person. Which is very admirable in someone working the service industry. The cook also knew the ingredients of what I ordered. So no worries on allergies.
First, this is a Mexican Restaurant. If you want a burger, go elsewhere. Second, I can't say enough about the food. The restaurant is under new Management and their food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! The owner is the Cook and he does it all himself. I recommend you start with the chicken enchiladas❤️. The Queso Blanco is extraordinary and it comes on everything unless you specifically order your food without it. A MUST STOP if you're a Lover of Authentic Mexican food.
Had lunch today, the fajitas were outstanding! Reminded me of being back home in New Mexico. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the wait staff were awesome! A very pleasant experience!
This is our second time and the food is delicious. I got the quesadilla and my husband got the grande burrito. They aren't playing around with grande either. It's huge. The steak and chicken is done perfectly. Try it - you will NOT be disappointed.
They have friendly staff, there food is amazing in my opinion the best Mexican restaurant in Fordyce, there food authentic.and there cheese dip is amazing the best in town. There punch was fresh
My puppy and I were passing through, had a taste for some tacos and looked up this place. The reviews seemed good and it was listed as a "quick stop" due to being right off HWY 67. When I entered the parking lot, there were no cars visible, so I parked in front of the door. I saw they accepted online orders, so, in an effort to kill two birds with one stone, I placed an online order, prepaid, and walked my puppy so she could go potty while I waited on them to prepare my food. 1. Chicken enchiladas w/ sour cream sauce 2. Stuffed avocado 3. Kids chicken nugget aa treats for my puppy. I placed the order at 11:20, I didn't receive my order until after 1 PM. I was told by a waitress they don't receive the online notification, so technically, they didn't start the order until around 11:45. The food did not taste Mexican.. Not even TexMex. Elotes is advertised, but the waitress didn't even know what it is.
My sister in law and I stopped in for lunch a couple weeks ago. My sister in law was not impressed. She's not from here. I believe her order was wrong to begin with, but she didn't send it back. She was having problems stomaching the food. Too much cheese, I believe. I ordered the steak fajitas. My steak was a lil too well done, but all in all it was good. I went to pay and like to fell out, $45, lunch for two. That's more than $20 a person. Too steep for my pocket. The food could've been better. The atmosphere was okay. The service was definitely the best thing.
Just spend $35 dollar on quesadillas and a large guacamole. Opened the tray up when I got home to find what looks like chuck's cheese upside down pizza. Might say new ownership but it's just awful calling yourself Mexican food. $35 on a quesadilla I understand if young hector has to go run down the road and catch the chicken. Overpriced and shameful .
