Banc New York Reviews
Delicious, hearty brunch at good price points. Waitress was a delight and even took our suggestions about more "popular" music choices during their live music nights. Not everyone likes country and folk music but the young crown damn sure likes hip hop, rnb, and pop! Spice it up folks lol
Was in NYC for business and a friend recommended Banc Cafe. It was the best recommendation I have received in a long time. The food was exceptional - the steak was perfection! We probably had too many martinis (thank you Yellow Cab!), however it was a so nice to lose track of time and just enjoy each other's company. This is definitely the place to relax, enjoy some incredible live music, food, and a master host (Tom is the best!!)
Great place!! I came here for brunch and it was delicious! Great portions and a great value. Loved the music they had playing too. The place is beautiful and feels upscale but also laidback. Our servers were both so kind!! They were so sweet and attentive. Thank you to Aishling and Alannah!!! I’ll be coming back because of them!
Food, vibe, and service are excellent! Menu has something for everyone. Service is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurant offers a fun, elevated NYC vibe balanced with a friendly neighborhood feel. Highly recommend!
Phenomenal staff and service, best place to brunch!
Excellent brunch! Also great for late night music. Neighborhood institution!
I've been to Banc Cafe several times throughout the years (including shortly after it first opened), and I've always had a great experience. There's definitely a reason why it's remained popular for 20+ years while so many other spots in the neighborhood have come and gone (especially since the pandemic). The vibe is fun without being pretentious; the food is tasty with a diverse range of options (including plenty of vegetarian-friendly dishes); and the drinks are strong and well executed. I've always found the service to be on point as well (either seated at a table or at the bar). A few of the menu standouts for me are the coconut shrimp, the gnocchi, and General Tso's cauliflower, and the calamari. They also make one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. I've never stopped by for brunch before, but I hope to someday soon. The brunch menu looks amazing, and I look forward to having one of each of their Bloody Mary options!
A great bar full of locals and travelers alike. Fun atmosphere and great cocktails.
So many great things to say about Banc Cafe! Stumbled upon this gem while perusing Google Maps for another location. Had a lovely evening with some of the best food and eclectic music I've enjoyed in a while! Banc has a masculine/steampunk-ish aesthetic that is simply gorgeous. Our server was attentive, funny, and came by at just the right times. The DJ played a little of everything from Michael McDonald to Rihanna and the grilled steak was to live for! Cannot wait to go back for more good times, great food, and amazing vibes! You must visit!
We visited Banc on December 31st for a family dinner around 6 PM, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Despite not having a reservation on New Year’s Eve, the manager, Tom, greeted us warmly and went above and beyond to find a table that suited our group of three adults and my 2-year-old daughter. We were seated in the extended seating area—a fully enclosed and heated patio—which was both comfortable and inviting. The entire staff was professional, kind, and knowledgeable, readily answering our questions about the food and drink options. The kids' menu was a thoughtful touch, with great portion sizes that worked perfectly for our little one. When it came to the food, everything arrived hot and flavorful, exceeding our expectations. The overall atmosphere, combined with the attentive service, made the evening special for our family. A special thank you to Tom for being so accommodating, welcoming, and especially kind to our daughter. We truly appreciated the personal touch on such a busy night. We’re already looking forward to returning for a drink, date night, or another family dinner in the neighborhood. Highly recommend Banc for anyone looking for excellent food, great service, and a family-friendly environment!
I have been contemplating this review for a long time! First, I’ve spent 5 years away from NYC and was extremely happy to see the Banc not only surviving Covid-19 situation, but actually doing pretty well. It has been my and my wife’s favorite place for years. Selection of cocktails is impressive and can satisfy most exquisite tastes. My personal choice is the Revival: balanced and fresh with a hint of bitterness. Food is equally amazing. The Banker burger is packed with flavor and juicy, plus it is served with perfect fries on the side (not some oily chunks of potato you can expect at a local joint). Eggs Benedict are work of art, whether you take them with salmon or beef steak! Perfect place for dates (interior could be noisy though - you’d better reserve an outside table in advance). The whole concept of taking a banc and redoing it into a bar is very intriguing. Interior is stylish and well polished. Nothing excessive. Service is polite and efficient. Haven’t had any sort of trouble with this place:) 10 out of 10 from me. Come visit it and bring your friends.
This place had a wonderful aura and was decorated beautifully for Halloween. I ordered the bacon butternut squash risotto and it was legitimately the best thing I have ever eaten. Compliments to the chef, 10/10. Drinks and service were also phenomenal. Would definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the neighborhood.
Jack was the best server ever ! Happily comeback the best service ever love it here
My friend and I came here for dinner after work and had a great experience. We had a reservation but arrived early, the hostess was able to seat us very quickly. Our servers were very attentive and friendly during our visit. We had the calamari (10/10), grilled pear salad with grilled salmon (9/10), orecchiette pasta (10/10) and the molten chocolate cake (10/10). The food was amazing, good portions and cooked to perfection. To drink we got two wines off the $8 happy hour menu, the Proverb Sauvignon Blanc (10/10) and Lindermanns Chardonnay (9/10). We would come back to this restaurant, they play good music and the service was excellent.
Great food! Amazing staff! Would definitely come back
Great Food and service with a great atmosphere ...love the lighting.
My favorite brunch spot in NYC!!! Tom is the best server ever and so attentive!
Loved this place. The fact that they have live music often is the reason I will be returning. Drinks are reasonably priced and staff is really friendly. I recommend!
Great service, delicious food, and a beautiful place!
We had a wonderful time hosting our organization’s gathering at Banc Cafe for brunch! I worked with Tom and Ronan to manage our reservation, select a pre fixe menu, and add additional touches. Tom had the amazing idea to print our organization’s name on the menus - it was such a darling touch that all of the attendees enjoyed! Tom booked 4 tables/booths in the back so we had our own section. The service was very friendly and attentive. Our food came out quickly and our coffee/tea was always being refilled. The food was delicious! Tom came to check in periodically to ensure we had everything we needed. We felt so cared for. I highly recommend Banc Cafe for a little get together or a large party gathering!
Love this spot! The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is great and the drinks are fabo!
This is a restaurant with a great atmosphere on the West side of Manhattan. The service staff were attentive and gave great recommendations about menu items. The filet mignon baguette was very unique and quite delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming and bright. There is a good amount of outdoor seating, which is fantastic when the weather is permitting. Overall, a comfortable place to relax and enjoy delicious food.
Such a great night, lovely wholesome food, friendly service and a great live band. Highly recommend!
Always love coming here when I’m in the city. Great food and drinks and friendly servers :) I love their wheat beer and the watermelon jalapeño margarita!!
I love Banc. I have been coming here more recently! It's one of the only places around the neighborhood to provide actual happy hour prices, lol. But the vibe is fantastic. Whether you sit at the bar or dine at a table, everyone is friendly and nice. I love their fries, buffalo, and sweet chili wings, and they make the best cosmos. The only thing I would say is I wish for their dessert menu. Overall, I got a 10/10, and I found my new work hang spot!
We all really enjoyed brunch here! Lovely restaurant with super friendly staff.
Had my engagement party here and it was a huge hit! Food and drinks were great and staff was incredibly accommodating with every request we had. The manager, Tom, was so helpful from start to finish with decorations to organizing a special toast. He coordinated the day so well that we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Can’t recommend this spot enough!
Amazing service every time, the staff is so accommodating and friendly!! Great brunch deals too
I had dinner at Banc Cafe yesterday Night, and it was a delightful experience.in fact, in addition to a splendid live music (Valerio, you're amazing), We ate very well, with an excellent quality-price ratio. The punctuality and friendliness shown by the staff and the owner is of a high level, making the experience even more satisfying. Highly recommended, 5 stars deserved
Dined here before going for a date at the movie theatre. Great atmosphere indoor, food was fine but service was great.
My favourite Manhattan bar, great food friendly service and always a good holiday wine pour !
The sourdough and burrata is to die for. Our server was excellent, think his name was Gianni or something. He gave us the crispiest high five as we left (he was handsome too). Great place!
By far our favorite place to visit when in town! The vibe with live music and atmosphere is always welcoming but the team completes it and the food is a full send, seriously.
Banc Cafe in midtown Manhattan is an excellent place for food and drinks. They have live music Thursday through Sunday evening and every Sunday, don’t miss out on their half price bottles of wine after 4pm. You must try their espresso martini. One of the best inthe city. Their friendliest staffs will take your order and bring your delicious food and drinks out promptly. Enjoy the food, enjoy the drinks, enjoy the atmosphere, and enjoy the music. Whether you are looking to hang out with your friend and family or your loved ones, Banc Cafe is a great choice. Overall was great Went twice while in nyc. Feels like a local spot Great live music when there Service was good didn’t get his name but Australian or British
My friend and I visited Banc Cafe on our trip to NYC after it was recommended to us by so many people — and let’s just say, it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we were greeted at the door to the second we (reluctantly) left, everything was 10/10. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the service was flawless, and the cocktails? Impeccable. The Pornstar Martini is a must, and their signature Espresso Martini is dangerously good. Huge shoutout to our server Melissa for being so lovely and attentive, and to the manager and owner Tom, who couldn’t have made us feel more at home. The atmosphere is chic yet relaxed — the perfect balance. Whether you’re heading out with a group, planning a date night, or just looking for great vibes and live music, this is the spot. Safe to say, we’ll be back!
Banc is truly the heart of our neighborhood and hands down my favorite restaurant/bar. From the moment you walk in, the hospitality is exceptional — welcoming, professional, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling forced. The quality of both food and drinks is consistently excellent. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor, and the cocktails are crafted with real care and creativity. You can tell there’s pride behind everything they serve. What really sets Banc apart is the atmosphere. The live music and DJ entertainment create an incredible vibe that makes every visit feel special, whether you’re stopping by for a casual evening or a lively night out with friends. A heartfelt thank you to the owners for their clear commitment to excellence. It shows in the service, the team they’ve built, and the overall experience they provide to the community. Banc is a gem, and I’m grateful to have it in the neighborhood. Highly recommend!
I went to this bar yesterday and absolutely loved the atmosphere. It’s cozy, chic, and feels perfectly balanced — ideal for a date, but just as great for a night out with friends. The place has a warm, inviting vibe, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really elevated the experience. Everything felt smooth, relaxed, and well taken care of. Definitely a great spot to keep in mind if you’re looking for a stylish yet comfortable place to spend an evening.
I’ve been coming to banc cafe for years and it never fails! We booked a party during the holiday season, it was so cozy with the decorations! Jesse was an absolute pleasure to deal with and the staff were super friendly and attentive on the night. The back space fitted our party comfortably and the food was amazing! Highly recommend hosting your next party here!
I went to Banc Cafe on New Year’s Eve and got there around 9pm. From start to finish, it was a really solid experience. I ordered food, drinks, and dessert, and everything was smooth with no pressure, no rush, and no interest or minimum spend issues, just come in, enjoy, and relax. The service stood out, especially our beatiful waitress from Wisconsin who was friendly, attentive, and professional without hovering. The DJ was on point, good music all night, and the crowd had a great vibe, lively but not chaotic. Overall, it turned into a genuinely good night, well run, good energy, and easy to enjoy. I’ll definitely be back again.
We had a simply outstanding time at Banc Cafe. We rented out their space in the back for a private party and it lived up to all of our expectations. Tom, the manager, held our cake for several hours, and helped us decorate and set up the party space and accommodated our every need as the night went on. The staff was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was fun, welcoming, and festive. Cannot recommend this place enough.
My experience was amazing. I chose to do my weekly solo date at the banc cafe. Although it was busy for Tuesday my server Jack made me feel like I was the only one there. He treated me with nothing less of respect, patience, and kindness. He gave me great recommendations when I needed one and continuously checked on me. He was kind enough to even charge my phone and bring it back whenever I needed to check on it. He is a hard worker and is good at what he does. Thanks to Jack my experience at the banc was a 10/10 and I will be a regular there for some of my solo dates or bring my friends and my partner. The food was amazing and the wine was great. Thank you!!🤍🤍
We love this spot — brunch here is always amazing. Great food, great drinks, and just an easy, fun vibe. You can usually find us here any given Saturday. Tom is also great and always goes out of his way to accommodate, even gave me a Banc shirt one time when I had a wardrobe malfunction lol
This restaurant is beautiful. It looks fancy and yet it has a casual vibe. They have a good Happy Hour and another good thing about it is that on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, it starts at 12pm. The Cocktails are very good. The food is good also. I had the Coconut Shrimp which came on a bed of Mango Cucumber Salsa, with a side of Tequila Lime Sauce. It was delicious. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely come back.
Great place to stop for late night drinks! We were seated instantly (they have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating) and the service was extremely quick. Drinks are reasonably priced and STRONG. The chicken tenders were a bit dry but were piping hot and a good snack. Our server was friendly and fast which is all you can ask for. Would recommend!
Just discovered a place to have great drinks and snacks! I need more of those goat cheese croquettes, they're delicious!! The jalapeño frozen margarita was a revelation for a hot day in the city. My husband had the chicken tacos and he really liked them, just felt like a good spicy sauce was missing, we're mexicans, we can't help it. The fries with parmesan are good but not great, I would try other thing next time,
I really enjoyed my time here, a great spot for a drink and some food. I was very happy with my steak flat bread, but others at the table didn't like what they had. Cocktails are great though!!
Awesome bar and restaurant in Murray Hill. Great happy hour 😊. Food portions are large. Started with a flatbread which was ultra tasty. Nice wines and selection of beers . Will book again
Great place to sit outside with friends. Good quick service, not too bad for a N.Y. table on the street restaurant. There are inside tables also, but it resembles more of a pub. Best to get a seat on the sunny side of the building during spring. Sun moves quickly to the opposite side 😊 I had the hamburger very rare and although not nearly 100% lean beef, it was reasonably well prepared.
A solid brunch choice. Good cocktails, eggs properly poached, and friendly service with a fun vibe. Give it a try!
Solid lunch/brunch options with prompt service. The meals were good and they've made the best of the outdoor seating space (review during COVID outdoor-dining). Drinks were definitely worth it and reasonably priced, the Hemingway cocktail was well worth it. Overall it was good, although staff seemed a little distracted at times, but it could just have been the start of the lunch crowd.
Came here to celebrate a special occasion with about a dozen friends. Located on the corner of Third & 30th, with the west facing side completely open, made for a very cool, comfortable breeze and an unobstructed view of all the action passing by on the avenue. Employees were friendly and seems happy to help us. Food was brought out regularly and was pretty tasty. Mostly finger food and desserts. We never felt ignored, nor were the servers overly intrusive. Drinks were very good. Place was crowded but not annoyingly so. Bathrooms were very clean. I could have sat there all day.
Always wanted to come here because it’s always crowded. Liked deco ambience music vibe . Came by today 2/19 to have brunch ordered Banc Benedict bacon was still and biscuit was hard. Coffee was very good . Waitress served coffee forgot the spoons to stir. We had to remind her. Menu limited for breakfast but they have lots of drinks on it
Friend lives nearby and recommended this spot for some happy hour and early dinner. Really delicious. They've got cute outdoor seating. Their menu is a QR code to scan so no pictures on that. But I snapped their dessert menu. Parking sucks, welcome to manhattan but if you're on foot, easy peasy, swing by for their delicious happy hour drinks. Alcohol volume feels really high for some drinks but I'm not complaining! Their food is well portioned, light, but filling, if that makes sense. It's fresh and their quesadillas were so yummy! Not to much oil but crispy and cheesy. Anyway, I highly recommend this if you're in the area!!
Looking for a place to go for Brunch today we went here as I liked the look of their Brunch menu. Don't know whether it was due to the memorial day weekend but there weren't very many other patrons, consequently we had our choice of the outdoor seating. I went for the fried chicken Belgian waffles and the husband went for the Irish breakfast. I was happy that my waffles were nice and crunchy unlike the normally soft and squishy waffles that you get. The only snag was that because the fried chicken was sandwiched between 2 waffles did mean that the fried chicken coating wasn't that crispy. The Irish Breakfast was a huge dish and the husband also mentioned that the black and white puddings were actually really good. I did notice that instead of chunky fries (AKA chips) they'd substituted it for home fries. The sausages weren't of the chunky variety but were nice enough. The blood orange mimosa he had also got a shout out as being delish! All of it was reasonably priced too. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive and we liked the outside seating area, which was nicely shaded even in the very hot 30C weather. Another Brunch place to add to my favourites list - yay!
Came for to meet a date and it's a nicely decorated dinner with a full bar. Nice bartenders. Bonus they have live music which i enjoyed. And happy hour! We set at the bar for happy hour and I ordered the Watermelon sugar high drink and I have to say it was my favorite; it's very refreshing and good. For food we order the Scallops risotto which was very tasty. The Scallops were well cooked and just melted in my mouth. The risotto which was my first time having tasted very good, even the asparagus was good. I enjoyed it. The live band was great and they even take request. The place got packed around 10pm I belive just after the band arrived. Cool crowd
Food was really good. Salmon, croquettes, and gnocchi were incredible. Blue cheese dip was great; wings were alright. Live music was incredibly subpar. And service was atrocious--the servers aren't really sure of what theyre doing. They don't know how to open a wine bottle, when to take away menus and plates, and just generally seemed very confused and forgetful. Very disappointing. Not sure if it was just today (Sunday night) or all the time. Indoors wasn't great for true conversation, but good enough to take tourist friends. Thanks for having us.
Great reviews online and the food sounded good so we hiked through the cold to get there on a cold March Friday night. Great spot. Busy, but we came late enough and after a short wait got a table. The bartender reached out while we were waiting to see if we wanted drinks. Nice touch since he was very busy. The drinks were great. The food combinations should have been, but they were just okay. Coconut shrimps were overcooked. Truffle parm fries the same. Nice flavours, but not the best I've had. The music was excellent. Fun, danceable, great selections, although no one was dancing. The waitress was her friendliest when she brought the bill. If it's in your hood I can see going there. Otherwise not worth a hike.
relatively average place, can pick up an energy of pretentiousness from the crowd. the food is just okay nothing to really write home about a bourbon thyme cocktail was delicious the lighting was so bright, really no need in the middle of the day. I like it when bartenders smile at their customers and maybe even say hello? I guess I ask for too much 🤣
Was really looking forward to a good casual meal here. It was ok… nothing great. General Tsaos Cauliflower could have been cooked longer… it was soggy and tasteless. I loved the atmosphere but the food was fair at best. Service was good and it’s nice to sit outside street side. Other than that, I could easily pass.
I came here for a 7pm reservation on Saturday in early June with three others before seeing a movie around the block. The weather was gorgeous. The restaurant appears to have nice outdoor dining accommodations but we dined in side the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant creates a nice atmosphere; it feels very comfortable and certainly not cramped. The service was never nice and prompt. The food was fine; not great or bad which seems fairly consistent with most of the dining places in this neighborhood. I would come back here again as pre-movie spot but I likely would not go out of my way to find a reservation on any other occasion.
The spot is very nice . Is like a bar to go and just get wasted. Very loud music, party style. Stopped by for appetizers and drinks, and well, it was underwhelming. Servers kept on passing by without acknowledgment. And once they did, they apologized. I'll take that. It was not busy. Appetizers were cold and tasted like frozen food. So... I'll give it a try another day for an actual meal but not holding my breath.
Rudest bouncer I’ve ever met guy needs to learn manners was nothing but polite and the guy was immediately angry and rude.
Service here for brunch was awful. We sat at our table for 45 minutes with empty plates and glasses waiting for the server to reappear and get our check to leave. and the salmon toast was not good for 20 bucks, it had a weird tomato puree on it which was not specified in the description. Plus they put the salmon on cooked eggs, which ruined the texture and flavor.
My friends and I were enjoying our evening when an unexpected incident occurred. While having a polite conversation with someone, a man intervened, placed his hand on me, and attempted to stop the interaction. I calmly asked him not to touch me and inquired if the person I was speaking with was his companion, to which he did not respond. Choosing to de-escalate, I walked away. Shortly after, I was approached by the bouncer and what appeared to be the owner, who asked me to leave without providing any explanation. I complied, paid my tab, and exited without issue. This experience felt unfair and unwarranted. The treatment I received seemed biased, potentially favoring certain patrons or regulars. I am deeply disappointed by this lack of professionalism and respect, and I believe this incident may have been racially motivated. I would not recommend this establishment and am considering legal action to address this matter
After having Banc on my bucket list for ages, I got a chance to visit them this Saturday with a group of friends. I ordered the vegetarian burger. The presentation was great but I realized after sometime that there were pieces of glasses in the burger patty. I really found a big piece 1 cm long in my big burger bite and that’s when it hit me that what I was suspecting as just crunchy lettuce was never lettuce in reality. :( We notified the staff and they were kind enough to apologize and offer my friends some complimentary desserts while I rushed home to drink a ton of salt water and get the burger+ out of the system. Really I wish the restaurant took extra steps to avoid this kind of mistake. It could be dangerous on so many levels. Sadly I won’t be returning to this restaurant especially after spending serval hours of panic and days of distress from their negligence. Please do better - you really have a great customer base and location.
Went for lunch and ordered the Banc burger medium well...that thing was like a shoe. The burger, the bacon, the bread, the fries... all ridiculously dry. Then to make it better, I got food poisoning from the meal as well. I'm not sure if they are using old meat or what, which is why they need to cook the hell out of it. But that was not a good experience
