Aunt Chilada's Northport Reviews
Excellent food, clean, very quick filling orders. Staff is very nice and on point. Definitely check them out and definitely worth a 20-30 minute ride👍😎
Best dang mexican food on this side of the 495. Mouth-wateringly delicious to the last bite. Chicken enchiladas are my go to dish, everything about it is done perfectly, tender tasty chicken, perfectly cooked tortilla, creamy delicious beans and amazing traditional yellow rice. The cheese melted on top does wonderful justice to the rest of this masterpiece of an entree. Portion sizes so large its easily two meals for an adult human, and it tastes just as good reheated the next day! Keep it up Aunt Chiladas, I need you in my life.
In my opinion one of the best Mexican restaurants in area. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and plenty of tables for people to enjoy their food. If you are in the area, give Aunt Childas Mexican restaurant a try, you will not be sorry.
A hidden gem in Northport. Who knew Mexican can be this good. Fresh and very tasty. Everything is made to order and fresh. I heard a customer say he's tried almost everything on the menu. That is my goal, as well. Try it for breakfast , its excellent.
OMG. Great food. So clean! Always satisfying. The staff are really nice people. You can't go wrong except maybe for the cholesterol. :)
The food was soooooo delicious here. I def recommend & will be ordering from here again soon :) I got a burrito and empanada and both were soooo good!
The steak, chicken and shrimp tacos are good ! They also put enough meat in there too. And they didn’t take forever with my order. I noticed they had soup, I will be back to try it.
This place has really Mexican food! The menu is very expansive and reasonably priced, and includes lengua tacos, horchata, and all sorts of empanadas. These is a small salsa bar with 4 great types of salsa. There are also American food items on the menu. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this place!
I absolutely love this place. Good quality yummy food every single time I go there. This place is a must! Good prices as well.
Always good, great menu, same professional staff, very busy and for good reason. I wish they had a store nearer my home. Luckily for me, I work nearby.
Excellent food!! I lived for years in Texas, and eating here made me feel like I was back on the Gulf Coast. Authentic with their own style.
Omg this place is awesome!!!!!! Didn't know it was there once I knew I kept foing, going, food is to died for!!!!!! The first place I actually eat their black peas it was sooooooo gooooood!!!!!!!my favorite Mexican restaurant 😋 😍
1st time here, wanted to try some tacos for lunch.. the guy behind the counter was more than helpful and knowledgeable.. tacos were phenomenal.. would def go back again!
This place has awesome Mexican food and the sauses are the best
This place is awesome. The food is excellent, clean, fast & friendly service. They also have an extensive menu to suit all your taste bud needs, including breakfast.
This place is awesome, I love the vegetable Burritos and I'm the guy who makes fun of the garden gobblers! This is my new favorite take out! To bad I only discovered it during quarantine. Also, I noticed that some are complaining about the cost same Burritos out by Centereach/Selden, $5 more AND not as good. I'm going to dock in Northport this summer!

Whether you're looking for a casual meal or a lively night out, Aunt Chilada's delivers on both taste and atmosphere.
Aunt Chiladas just never misses. Especially the birria tacos, they r to DIE for. Everything I’ve ordered is always so fresh and good. These people really know how to make some mexican food
The food was fantastic. The atmosphere has a great sense of cultural expression. The staff were very friendly and happy to help people. It is a nice and quaint area. There are good areas to sit and they have a very feng shui design to their seating arrangement. The food is very delicious. It has every bit of cultural flavors and is well priced. The music is of course latino and sometimes Mexican specific music. The place is very clean as well. It is easy to find and there is ample parking. When you first walk in you are greeted with a nice vibe of being welcome and all of the customers are enjoying their meals and mind their own business. It is a very nice place to eat and is also family friendly. I find this place to be wonderful and will definitely look to make plenty of stops here on my future routes.
I door dashed two birra tacos and a quesadilla. Haven't even touched the quesadilla yet because of how dam good the birra beef tacos are omg ! Just like NYC ! Also the dipping sauce for it isn’t just oil. High recommend !
Very good options from my several friends who try different things. I had the steak quesodillia . Really tender pieces of steak in excellent combination of cheese and tortilla. The guacamole is great and free Pico de giao, salsa. Excellent. Been there three times and have not disappointed. Always full when we walk in.
Love this place. Never a long wait and the food is consistently good. Can’t go wrong with the burritos and the sandwiches are huge. The portions are very generous!
Sooooo this place is a hidden gem. Authentic food, immense menu and great selections of SELF SERVE hot sauces. I know. That just warms my heart. The reasonably priced, maybe even modestly. I would recommend anything with their steak. Their tacos is on point. And the tortas is worth the drive from Nassau county, which I make with friends when visiting the tanger arches as well. Service is great and unassuming. I hope this place branches out to Nassau county because all the tacos spots around me is whack and whack.
Delicious Mexican food! Aunt Chiladas is a casual place to get delicious and generous Mexican food. Their amazing sauces bring everything to the next level. Friendly service and easy call in make this a must if your craving a large menu offering. My advice: go for the enchilada style with your burrito!
I love this place!! Been coming here for years .. and the food is always really good. I also love how the food is always made fresh to order, and it doesn't even take long. Definitely recommend!!
This is quintessential Tex-mex food. The salsa bar is superb and the food is always fresh & brought out in a timely fashion. For 10$ you can have a burrito with a drink that will come with enough chips to make into two meals. I recommend the guacamole as it is always fresh. They’ll make your meal vegan if need be, as well.
Went in for first time. Everything was so delicious and front desk guy was very helpful and friendly.
place is amazing! unfortunately it is better than my local spot so I barely ever eat here considering its 45 minutes away. but anytime I'm in that area it's a must stop for a burrito
Bbq chicken burrito is too good, little buffet set up for sauces and salsas. Consistently great food for a good price.
Step into Aunt Chiladas, and you're instantly transported to a fiesta of flavors and fun. The restaurant's eclectic decor and lively atmosphere create an immersive dining experience that's as vibrant as the dishes they serve. From the moment you're greeted by the friendly staff, you know you're in for a treat. Start your culinary journey with their famous salsa trio, a tantalizing trio of flavors ranging from mild to fiery. Then, dive into their extensive menu featuring everything from sizzling fajitas to mouthwatering street tacos bursting with fresh ingredients. But what truly sets Aunt Chiladas apart is their commitment to creativity. Don't miss out on their innovative twists on classic dishes, like the avocado and shrimp-stuffed chimichangas or the pineapple-infused margaritas that add a tropical twist to your evening.
I really like this place. Everything is authentic. They have great items on the menu and everything tastes great. I would highly recommend this place.
My goat, 24 some of the best quicker mexican on the island. You can't go wrong. Additionally, in my opinion, the establishment, it's very clean and the food is always fresh.
The service was amazing. My 10 year old friend spilled a red dipping sauce on his new mainly white designer t shirt. He was attempting to open one of the little plastic containers of sauce. The food server saw what happened and offered my friend if he would take off the shirt that she would wash it and get the stain out. He gladly obliged. He was so happy to get back his shirt with no visible stain. The food portions were more than ample and tasted homemade. They offer free WIFI. Just ask for the password. Highly recommend visiting here.
Absolute favorite spot in Northport for takeout. I come immediately when I come home from college. My go to orders are the asharoken burrito and the chicken Caesar wrap. Both are the best!! Also don’t skip on the salsas.
I'm new to the area and drove by this place. The name caught my attention. Ordered take out on Friday and it was soooooo good, that I went back today-Sunday! The menu is IMPRESSIVE, the service is fantastic, the food is OUTSTANDING. The workers are very nice and friendly. The smell of the authentic Mexican food, made me miss my home in Los Angeles! I highly recommend this place!
First time coming back here in a few years (I moved out of the area). I’m so glad nothing has changed! Still have fresh, delicious food! My guilty pleasure is a cheese quesadilla with their tropical salsa! Love it!
This has got to be one of the best kept secrets in Northport! The food is always fresh, hot and delicious and the staff is friendly. They have a salsa bar where you choose from 4 or 5 different salsas and other toppings like jalapenos. It does take some time to prepare the food so if you're not dining in, I'd phone in your order for pick up rather than ordering onsite. I think my only complaint is that their salsa containers are SO small! You're better off bringing your own small container.
Our go to Mexican restaurant. Authentic, good prices and sweet staff.
I had a birthday party when I was seven and it was a pizza place. I loved that pizza place and was very sad when it closed. But like a caterpillar entering it's cocoon and becoming a beautiful butterfly, the pizza place transformed into Aunt Chilada's Mexican Grill and now it's even better than it's ever been. Also, their burritos are delicious.
I like this place! Small with good seating, order food at front counter and then they bring it to you, no waiter waitress, food is very fresh and there is a salsa station with all different types of salsa that goes great with the chips and food. Not cheap but every place is more $$ now, they do have some lunch specials but I did not take advantage of them yet.
Finally writing a review because I get food from this place at least 2-3 times a week and get super irritated by petty reviewers going "They say 10 minutes and I have to wait longer when they're obviously busy!" Their food is delicious and at reasonable cost considering how hard they work and the subpar local competition. And if you think the prices are a little high, consider that their serving sizes carry a hefty weight. I've never had a problem with their customer service. If I did, wouldn't be returning up to 3 times a week. Today is Wednesday, I've had lunch there since Monday. The employees have gotten to know me and vice versa, they are always friendly and courteous, even still when it comes to the "They say 10 minutes and I have to wait longer when they're obviously busy!" type folk. I'll continue to enjoy their food/service, especially amid pandemic times when they've taken more precautions than I've seen any other public area take so far, to the point of changing their door handle so you don't have to rub your hand all over it. I especially rec their tacos. Always a delight.
AMAZING place to get something to eat. Store is always busy so be patient as the times can change for when your order will be finished. They get walk ins, Uber DoorDash and phone orders. Good food takes time to make and I’m impressed with the cooks to manager that many orders and never making any mistakes. It’s a same the limit is 5 stars, definitely deserves more!!
Very good Mexican food. The Birria tacos are especially good. They have the best salsa. Update 10/2024: still great! If you order for pickup on thier website or app there's no 3rd party app markup.
After a moving day complete my family and I were looking for some good Mexican food. I’m from Queens NY and so I do pride myself in living in a borough with great food. Long Island is new to me, but this place did Not disappoint. The food was Hot, Seasoned, and came out at a good time after we ordered. The workers in the back brought you your food which was nice. The tables inside were clean and there was seating outside also. I would absolutely go back again
Love this place. Great for eating in, or takeout. Friendly staff, consistently delicious food, quick service, plenty parking.. Everything you want.
Best authentic Mexican food around. Salsa is top notch, fresh and flavorful. Service is always super fast and friendly.
Excellent food. Good service. Great tacos.
yesterday was the first time I tried their food. OMG 😳 it was amazing amazing .thank you for your quality of food .
Best spot around. Always get the orders right. Great staff, great food.
This is a Mexican restaurant that I really like. Ten years ago, I used to eat here when I worked nearby. Today, I went there again and had the same taste as before. I love it so much!
If you're new to Northport and want a solid burrito. This is the place to go to. I've been going here since I was a little kid, and I've always got the Mexican Burrito with shrimp. Delicious. Prices are good, plenty of parking.
This review is based on the quality and cost of the food. I ate here 3 times with my fiancé and the food has been great all 3 times. The self serve counter for sauces and spices is not ideal since sometimes people can hog the spot and not be considerate of others. Like I said the rating based on the food and price. The prices are very reasonable and the food really is delicious. They have specials for lunch, which seem priced well but I have only had dinner here all 3 times.
Tried the restaurant after a day of boating. The restaurant is small but they had enough seating to take care of everyone. Ordering is at the counter. The menu is huge and there is a breakfast menu as well. All of our meals were correctly prepared and tasted delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions were good. Definitely returning here.
After reading reviews online, today went to this restaurant. It's small place but neat and clean. Kitchen itself is clean. And they preparing food openly. That have large menu to order. Today we ordered Mexican pizza with beans and chicken. And it's mouthwatering delicious. Much better than the iconic tacho bell Mexican pizza. Shrimp impnada. Steak crunchy tacho, Buffalo chicken nachos , chicken burrito and vegetables grill burrito all taste good. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to go again and try another menu items.
Amazing takeout. Authentic. Price is a little high but it is very good. Breakfast is amazing steak avocado and eggs. Burritos are also very good but not as big as chipotle 3 year update. Still amazing Mexican grill restaurant. Order the nachos super crispy. Tasty! Get a side of steak you will thank me. Place has so many choices. You will need a long time to conquer this menu. Place is Always super busy.
This place is real good, i recommend it. It is expensive. You must check your order thoroughly before you leave- they forget an item or put something in wrong every time I go-literally every time.
Aunt Chiladas isn't the best Mexican food around, but it is one of the most consistent. The order is right. The salsa is fresh. The food comes out on time, and the place is clean. Oh and its good.
Wow! Delicious burritos! Would have given 5 stars, but the chicken in my burrito was way overdone - but still delicious! I will certainly go back again. Yum!
Food was enjoyable. Service was quick enough. Prices were decent. It was pretty crowded. Probably better to take out. Would go again.
One of the best Mexican restaurants on Long Island. With that said, being closed on Sundays seems like an odd decision. Recently placing an order over the phone is a challenge as the employee seems overwhelmed (perhaps w/call volume due to being closed one day per week?). Close on Mondays if need be.
Their burritos are large and tasty. I personally like the enchiladas and the fried plantains. They even have pretty good chili not as good as mine but still good. The only thing is you have to make sure that they understood your order and wrote it down correctly.
Great place for tacos and burritos. Not a huge fan of enchiladas since they put everything in the same plate and then to the salamander to melt the cheese...if I wanted everything together in the same bite, I could have ordered a burrito, right? The flavor of the food is in general good.
Really efficient place to snag a burrito. My food was really important and very hungry! I got the triple skip meat lesson. Very slippery selection here but not many baskets. If I had to say I think it would be about five. Nice spice here makes my mouth tasty as heck!!!! Aunt chilada is a really nice lady and gives discounts if you ask for the wombo triple Decker .
Great food. But their prices have become absurd.
I ordered empanadas from here, and they’re very tasty, but I didn’t get any salsa rosada to go with it. Had to make my own. Otherwise, good stuff and I’d definitely come here or get from here again. That beef empanada is crazy 🔥
Good food 👍 Everything is fresh because the place is so popular You can count on getting good fresh food here for not a lot of $. In the colder weather, sit at a two person table in the back, because the area with the large tables in front is too cold to enjoy sitting down to eat
This place has really declined over the past couple of years. Service has went down and prices have gone up. It was $20 for 2 tacos and not very good ones at that, on top of a waitress that seemed irritated to wait on anyone.
Really tasty if not authentic Mexican food. Many problems with deliveries need to be addressed. Owner please get in there and work with the staff to get things right because my last three deliveries from GrubHub were incorrect.
Not bad, but my quesadilla came out a little burnt. If I wasn't so hungry, I would have sent it back. The hard shell taco was soggy when I opened the aluminum foil it was wrapped in. I liked the choice of salsa they made available for you at the "salsa bar"It was ok, not sure if I will go back or not.
The food is good. This would have gotten 4 stars if the customer service wasn’t horrid. I have never even bothered leaving reviews for food places. But the customer service is so exceptionally bad here I felt like I needed to post about it. Every single time I’ve ever called and asked for something that isn’t on the front of the menu I’ve had to spend five minutes convincing the employee on the line that they do sell it. Many times they’ve said my food will be ready in ten minutes and I show up and it’s not ready and end up waiting up to twenty minutes more. (Just be honest if you’re backed up.) Not to mention the many times I’ve been put on hold in the middle of ordering so they can take another persons order (I hear them taking someone else’s order- not just assuming) and leave me waiting. Just so many things that led to this post. Ugh disappointing because the food is good but honestly the hassle isn’t worth it sometimes.
I have not been here for many years. I always liked the food, and this has not changed. Can definitely see that inflation has caused a reprint of the menu. They are not too blame. I did not like one thing during this visit. The cashier gave me a receipt to sign when I payed with my card. It just had a line for tip and total. I asked where do I sign for the card. He said I didn't need to sign. So now counter service is not only asking for tips, but they are asking for tips before I even get my food, or get any service. I think entitlement to tips has gone way too far. I did not leave a tip, and it left me wondering if my food had spit in it. Not sure I will be returning to this restaurant. Especially after leaving this review.
The food is good, the place is tiny and some customers I do not know why are always on edge at these kind of places. The self serve salsa station is great but so tiny and also the drink section could be improved, it's way too tight so warning at night expect a lot of clutter and impatient guest. However that is not the restaurants problems, everytime my family and I go here and get take out or even eat here, there is literally always something wrong. I asked for a pinto bean burrito with no cheese and got loads of cheese, I'm not allergic just do not like cheese but imagine someone was allergic...? They rush make small orders also my burrito fell apart. The food is good but they always make mistakes, they also gave my sister the wrong taco, they gave her a steak taco instead of a chicken one, it's fine but it's just annoying to get the wrong thing... Try on your own accord but honestly expect wrong orders, they are much better at off times or small crowds they always get it right, they definitely need a better manager to handle the stressful nights and organize much better because everyone I talked to has the same issues, if you really wanna try the place again food is good just try it at lunch and off peak night hours.
The food is pretty good but they never have it ready when they say it will be. Especially if you order online - allow an extra 1/2 hr.
In 2018 I liked it better. Had better menu and prices were good. Today it's not there fault for prices going up. It's everywhere. So I don't go out to eat much since Biden has been in office every place from restaurants to food shopping prices are crazy. But as soon as Trump is president things will get better and prices go down. Can go out to eat 4 or 5 times a week. I'll try more items on menu when Trump is in. Can't afford food , you see all those people in NYC having jobs but can only pay bills and get the free food at charities. I have seen drug dealers do that and I'd get so mad at them. I was like Preston you have hundreds in your pocket why you getting food from church where others might really need it. Another friend who passed away did it also. He had 2 jobs and was buying drugs but get free food from charities. This world is messed up.
Not authentic Mexican food at all. I was so disappointed with the food. The service was mediocre at best. The tortillas were not fresh. the price was high for what i got. I cloud have went to taco bell and had a better experience.
Food is good, but 9 out of 10 times they get your order wrong and/or forget things. When you call, they always deny it. When they finally accept the error, they makes you come pick it back up. The service is poor relative to the cost.
Restaurant forgot the steak for a salad ordered. When my husband asked for a refund (instead of having to go back out in icy weather) they gave him the run around. He finally got so fed up and he trekked back out to get the steak. Initially they told him they would take his name down and he would have an IOU. Who is running this place? Not acceptable especially for the $$ this place is.
The rice pudding (apparently considered a “specialty”) was literally just rice sitting in thin cinnamon milk. And the “chorizo” was just hotdogs.
Terrible communication. uber eats /door dash and all others jump you on line. 40 minutes wait even when nobody's in the place.Nachos are a week old /horrrible when asked to re fund order was refused Felt threaten if i was to ask again Never eat here
Worst costumer service. I had to make 3 trips even after asking them to confirm the order. When I got home they left the cheese and bacon off a bacan cheese burger. When I called to get a refund I was told to come get the bacon and chesse. Are you kidding me!
Not the man on the phone saying he’s too busy to refund me for beef empanadas and was too busy that’s why he LEFT THEM OUT OF MY ORDER ✌🏽💀 Best part: the manager isn’t there so they don’t know how to refund bc there’s a password !!! What a joke, manager!!!!
There’s not a lot of takeout spots in Northport so we’ve come here a lot over the years but I don’t think I can do it anymore. The food is usually good the problem is the service, We don’t order anything complicated & 80% of the time our order is wrong, sometimes it’s not even close. The people at counter seem lost most the time and usually not friendly.
Worst chimi changa I've ever ate.
We ordered takeout from here for the first time and our whole order was messed up. The burrito was made incorrectly and we got ketchup, but no fries. I called to let them know and they called me a liar. Such a shame to experience horrible customer service like this. The food was decent, but we won't be returning.
Last three meals were disappointing. Got basically a lettuce burrito. Very little chicken. Food was carelessly assembled. Quality has declined past year or so. I won't waste my money anymore going to aunt chiladas.
Staff is so rude. Cashier girl is rude.
Overpriced & underwhelming. Placed order for pick up. Person on phone was a overwhelmed & a little rude, but I get it…Holiday weekend. What a mistake! Crispy Taco was a soggy, inedible mess. “Authentic” soft chicken taco was mostly chopped onion & cilantro. Quesadilla was cold & tasteless. Burrito was impossibly spicy. They even ruined the rice which had a stale chemical taste. $60 for 3 people & the only thing we we could stomach was black bean soup & churros! Best part…not even our dogs would eat it! OMG how is this place still in business? Seriously Taco Bell is 1/3 the price & twice as good.
Ordered via DoorDash on a Saturday night at 8:45pm. They claim they accept orders up until 9:40pm. I ordered two items, plus chips and salsa. 40mins goes by, and I get a call from Doordash saying the restaurant just now cancelled the order. Now other places are closed or are closing and i now have to resort to a drive thru. Thanks for that.
HORRIBLE they are so slow and NEVER get my order right. I’m sitting here right now an HOUR after ordering my food. Think it’s ready and then realize, it’s NOT the cook doesn’t pay attention to ANY instructions the food is wrong and my daughter with Celiac Disease can’t eat her dinner. I’m livid. Plus the person taking orders on the phone couldn’t even get my damn credit card number right after repeating it three times. I hate this place. I keep giving it another try but NEVER AGAIN! Edited to add: after An hour and a half I finally have my food. My empanadas are beef not the chicken empanadas I ordered. Never coming back here again absolutely worst experience ever ever ever
I’ve been here 3 times and every time the food was horrible. My daughter and nieces wanted to try it that’s the only reason I went back. I don’t understand how they are rated 4.5. Stars. It must be all their friends. Don’t waste your money.
No idea how this place stays open. Beans have no flavor, cheese is made out of plastic and paraffin wax, meat smells like dog food, avocados aren’t ripe, sweet plantains are cardboard, zero flavor other than salt. Their salads are passable, though. Tried twice… Never eating here again.
These are some of the rudest employees I have ever dealt with. The attitude on the cashiers is astonishing. The food is fine, but extremely over priced. Overall, not a pleasant experience. The manager should reconsider their staff. I ordered well within their hours, and they were annoyed that they had to service me - even though it was only a pick up order. Rude. If i could give zeros stars I would.
A group of coworkers and I wanted to order lunch to take out one day. We were informed that many of the items on their online menu were either no longer served or a different price. Why even bother having the menu online?
I have never posted a bad review online in my life. Unfortunately, I feel it's my duty to warn everyone else. This past week, as my partner and I do almost every week, we ordered dinner at Aunt Chilada's Mexican Grill in Northport. One of the items ordered was a Tropical Wrap. Once we started eating, out falls this bug. Immediately, we called the restaurant to express our concerns and were faced with rude and accusatory remarks that they need us to bring in the food and the bug as we could have "made this up" to get our money back. Once we got to the restaurant we brought the food and the bug in a sealed bag which they took immediately to the back. We were told again that we must have planted the bug in the food because they don't have bugs and were accused again of just trying to get our money back. Then they claimed that there was no bug in the bag. I asked for the bag back repeatedly so I could show them and they refused to give me the bag back. I would like to note again, we order our from this restaurant frequently as it was one of our favorite take out spots. The staff was extremely rude to us the entire time. The restaurant hasn't apologized for this or done anything to rectify the situation, so I figured I'd take it upon myself to warn others. I understand bugs happen sometimes, but it's all in the way that this place handled it. This is a dangerous (and gross) situation that should have been handled much better by the restaurant.
