Stopped in for breakfast on our way passing through town. Casual surfer/beach vibe. There must have been more than 2 dozen people waiting to be seated when we added our name to the list. We were seated in about 20 minutes. All the staff is super friendly. I ordered the chicken machaca scramble and it was absolutely fantastic, I would definitely come here again.

My first time here was in Oct'23 with my sisters, and we absolutely loved the food and service. So, of course, I had to bring my husband during this visit Dec'23, and he loved his food too. We both got the Denver scramble with the homestyle potatoes, and I got a side of their yummilicious coffee cake. Portions are a good size, and the food is good. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I go to the restaurant at least once a week! The food is great, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the service from all the servers, mine is Kristi, is nothing short of immaculate! Kristi is extremely knowledgeable of the menu and offers excellent suggestions when I'm stuck on what to eat. Don't be turned off by the wait on the weekends. The wait can be 10-15 minutes but that just confirms how popular this place is. IT'S WELL WORTH THE WAIT!! Menu items from breakfast to lunch are vast and delicious! It's a locally run operation that is embedded in the community and appreciative of everyone who walks through the doors. A MUST for anyone with a huge appetite, likes crazy variety, and an appreciation for GREAT service!

What a gem of a local restaurant. If you're ever visiting Oceanside, this is a must go! Great food and service by a local family-owned restaurant. Zelle has kept the place going for 35 years and now her son, Harrison, is keeping it going. Fantastic for breakfast and lunch. The corned beef hash is their own and so good. The Chile Verde omelets are fantastic (get it with the loaded potato pancake and coffee cake). Finally, the Awesome omelet is self explanatory. Good prices ($10-15/person) and portions. Walk in and waddle out!

We love this special breakfast spot in Oceanside right off PCH. It reminds me of Hawaii where I’m from on the Big Island. They have great breakfast menu, a huge breakfast burrito and a crazy dish called banana crunch French toast loaded with whip cream and fresh bananas! The coffee is great too!! A cute place one of our favorites!!! Stop in and see Harrison the owner he brings a lot of flavor and wonderful food to anyone looking for the best breakfast in Oceanside!!! You know when you don't spend much money and the food is great AND a LOT? So, welcome to Beach Break Cafe 😂😂😂 We had a corned beef hash and a Canadian bacon sandwich that were a joke! So tasty... And please, order the coffee cake, you won't regret it!

Last time I was at this place was before social media was around. This place still delivers some delicious grub! I had the turkey club sandwich, and it was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was packed, but service was fast. Most of the staff didn't seem very happy, but it's okay I'll still be going back.

We had a great breakfast here! There were a lot of customers outside so we figured it would take awhile to get a table, but they were able to get our group of four in within 20 minutes! Our wait staff was quick and friendly. They apologized that the kitchen was a bit behind, but it didn't really take any longer than we figured it might take to get our food. Our 6 year olds had the Mickey style pancakes, my husband had the Corned Beef Hash, and I ordered the Awesome Omelette. We all tried each and they were all great! We ordered two pieces of their coffee cake and it was AMAZING!! I could have eaten just that by itself. Thanks for such an enjoyable experience for us out-of-towners!

FRESH, FRESH, FRESH DELICIOUS FOOD! This is unlike any diner food I have EVER had! I was pleasantly surprised by the heaping portions and affordable price. This is definitely not your average.. sausages were longer and more seasoned than your typical, the hash browns were fluffy on the inside and crispy down to the last bite, the eggs were perfectly cooked AND it comes with TWO LARGE and delicious biscuits. So grateful to live on the other side of the country.. I'd never make breakfast again!

This lovely hangout was sprinkled with locals, always appearing good sign. The menu was vast, and my "Amazing" omelet lived up to its billing. Son wolfed the chocolate chip pancakes AND eggs and bacon, and my bride savoured an epic-looking veggies scramble. Our waitress stopped by frequently to top off coffee in massive mugs, check in that all was well, and make sure we were as satisfied as we appeared. The patio was lovely and the food amaz - no, AWESOME!

This place is absolutely perfect- I came in on a drive up from San Diego for brunch and there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love about this place. Molly the hostess gave me my choice of seat in a full restaurant which made me feel very welcome and right at home. She’s truly a sweet lady and so very kind. Then there was Collin my server who answered all my questions about the food, gave me good recs to eat and even allowed me to change my order when I decided I wanted the strawberry crunch French toast instead of the pancakes. I ended up getting both and well it was all delicious! The service was impeccable the food was dynamite and the atmosphere is very cool with the whole surf I’ve and a little Steely Dan playing on the stereo. I will definitely be back here. Lived here for a long time but my first visit was the day after Christmas. The servers were kind, informative, and works as s team. The the choices were divers and the food was filling! Big plus they had grapefruit juice! Will definitely go more but be sure to beat the brunch rush or go in a smaller group!

Asked server what they recommended and they mentioned a few best sellers which we got 3 of them: the chili verde omelette, banana crunch french toast and the crumb cake. WOWIE SO GOOD. Warning the crumb cake is served with warm sugar icing so I suggest eating it there instead of taking it to go so you don’t miss out on that goodness. Food flavorful (verde sauce packs flavor not heat), portions generous, coffee tasty and hot, surf board decor, clean restaurant- our new favorite! Thank you for our wonderful meal/experience.

What a great place for breakfast. Like the other reviews say, literally, everything is good. The chicken fried steak is awesome, with just the right amount of delicious gravy. And also, like the other reviews say, the coffee cake is outstanding! Service is A1. Definitely something you should check out.

This was our first visit here and we loved it . The atmosphere is definitely awesome . Skateboards , surfboards and tons of photos of surfing as decor , definitely California. Very Clean and staff always made sure coffees full and we had everything we needed. For sure a locals place , it seemed everyone knew each other. Ordered Avocado toast and fruit and I’m pretty picky about my avocado toast this was perfect !!! ABC omelette was ordered as well and it was great . Will definitely be going back .

Beach Break Cafe We ordered the omelette and chili-size burger. Even though we have been in the U.S. for several years, we are shocked at the size of the meal. That plate of potatoes is just a side came with the omelette. Also that big bowl of soup was supposed to be a cup of soup came with my burger!!! I like the chili-size burger a lot. It looked weird （to me 😆) but tasted really good. Omelette was kind of so so. Next time we will try something different!

Hubby and I had breakfast here and had a great experience. Service was very friendly and the food was delicious. I got the Greek omelet with potato pancakes and hash browns (yes, 2 potatoes, don't judge 😜). Husband got the banana crunch French toast (crunch is Honey Bunches of Oats cereal) with turkey sausage.

I was excited to order the Beefeater sandwich and it looked exactly like one would expect it to but after a couple bites there was an odd aftertaste which I didn’t care for. I’m thinking the beef itself was seasoned with something I didn’t like. But it was the only thing I’ve ever had there that I didn’t LOVE!

Wow! Simply amazing food and ambience. We happened to find this place near Amtrak station and food was fantastic. I often order chicken fried steak from diners and this was probably the best chicken fried steak I’ve had. Pancakes and the rest of the standard breakfast items were great as well. We come down to SD area every year. This will be one of the places that we will visit for Oceanside dining experience.

Wife and I are from NJ and this is one of the closest experiences to a north east diner we’ve had so far since coming to Cali a few years back. They are very quick to seat us every time and even have a really nice heated outside patio for anyone like us that prefers to sit in a more open setting sometimes with our son. The food is great, I’ve gotten their corn beef hash breakfast twice already and I’m hooked! Service is very fast, food is prepared really well, and you’re in and out of the Beach Break within 30-45mins. Always leaving here happy!

We've been going to Beach Break for 30 years. We wouldn't go back if it wasn't good :-). Try the scramblata. It's really tasty. Don't forget the coffee cake with extra drizzle. Ask your server if they know about the coffee cake and prison connection. It's a cool story. If you go on the weekend it's normal to have a pretty long line. It's worth the wait.

Hands down best coffee cake I have had in my life! Tore into it so fast I didn’t even have time to snap a picture before it was gone! It’s sweet almost like a cinnamon roll, but moist all the way through, and the serving size is VERY generous. 10/10, would eat again

The breakfast here was AMAZING! The food was seasoned perfectly, had the corn beef hash with eggs. I've never had large red onions in my hash before but now I love and need it always to be in it! This place is also known for their coffee cake which came out hot with a ton of cinnamon crumble on it and a drizzle of some type of glaze on it... AMAZING!!! The cake portion was soft and super fluffy. I would absolutely recommend this spot and would come back!

What an amazing experience. The wait was a bit long but the food was so worth it. Having coffee while you wait is a nice touch. The best coffee cake I've ever tasted. The eggs were cooked wrong though. We all ordered over medium and got booger type runny! The potatoes are large portioned. The bacon was authentic, thick and cooked perfectly! And these were some of the best pancakes I've ever experienced! Will definitely return!

I absolutely LOVED the vibe at Beach Break Cafe, the food is fresh, and delicious! Enjoyed the wall to wall decor, stories and pictures. Dropped in on a busy Saturday, and still sat down within reasonable time. Staff is kind, caring, and very attentive. We were a party of 5 and we had a little of everything— breakfast and lunch. All of our food came out cooked to perfection and taste delicious. The warm coffee cake is a must-have, and my favorite dish is Zell’s Scramble. Definitely will be back to this gem! Don’t know why I hadn’t been here sooner. Surfing museum / restaurant has a fun atmosphere! So much surf history to see he but we came for the food. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with real chopped corned beef. We both had potato pancakes with the works , onions and sour cream. Our guests had the Huevos Rancheros and breakfast burrito. The Hawaiian egg special was also very good. Great service , food and atmosphere 5 stars ⭐️

Went here while some relatives were in town. I've been here a few times and thought it was great! They don't take reservations, but we were seated right away. Our waitress was nice. I got an omelet with a potatoe pancake and coffee cake. I love their coffee cake so much! My relatives tried some other food like the country fried steak, the corned beef hash, and a burger. The burger comes deconstructed so you can put what you want in it 🍔 Everyone is chatting around you making for a nice cafe atmosphere, but no music playing. I'd come back!

Great atmosphere with huge portions, the biscuits and gravy was outstanding don’t miss the Linguica sausage

Service, atmosphere, and food was great! We came around 8am on the weekend and the place wasn't as busy. The restaurant was pretty big and usually they get packed with people that they have an exit only door (from what we were told). We had the veggie omeler and the Banana Crunch French toast. They did not hold back with the veggies! It was so delicious! If you like more of a dryer, crunchier French toast, then the banana crunch French toast is for you. There was a lot of people working (maybe about 20) and a lot of them looked like they were in a good mood. That's saying something! The place has a lot of beach and surf decor. We'll definitely be back.

Great place to stop for a traditional breakfast. Outdoor seating covered. A little bit of a wait but worth it. Friendly and welcoming service. Plates are full/nice size portions. Their pancakes 🥞 ARE fluffy, you can actually share the short stack (2). The 🥓 bacon and corn beef hash and eggs 🤤. Their vanilla had me 3 cups in (and I'm not a coffee ☕ drinker).

I had the corned beef hash and pancakes. Talk about plentiful. My wife had the huevos rancheros and waffle. She moved hers as well. The server was great. Prepare to have a wait, but the food is delicious and worth it! Love the surfer decor and the random coffee mugs, our table had surfer magazine covers all over. Food portion size is very generous, which is good since it isn’t cheap, our party of 7 was almost $200, they added gratuity to our check. Service was ok, but they were super busy. I ordered an egg white vegetarian omelette with extra crispy hash browns and sourdough. I couldn’t finish it all it was so big and it was super yummy! You could tell the ingredients were fresh, also loved being surprised with avocado slices inside my omelette (usually most places place it on top). I would recommend and I will be coming back!

Delicious, homemade breakfast. Highly recommend the banana crunch french toast. Also amazing coffee cake. The omelette was cooked perfectly. The only thing to be aware of is the restaurant is adding 10% to the entire check because of the high price of eggs. This is true whether you order an egg dish or not. This feels wrong. Raising the cost of dishes with eggs would be fairer. Long wait an hour on Sunday.

The food here is always delicious. We love the Chili Verde omelet as shown here. Its accompanied with a loaded potato pancake. Their coffee cake is Bomb! Smothered with icing, it light and crunchy. The only issue we had, that was reasonable but still i just dont appreciate, is that we had to wait for the entire party to be in the restaurant to be seated. Like just sit me so I can order my coffee, and maybe something else while im starving. 😅 We will definitely always go back!

Came in for breakfast. What a cool restaurant. Surf decorations all around. Really makes you feel like you're dining near the beach. Went early so didn't have any wait. We had the egg breakfast and huevos rancheros. Food was good. Also brought a small coffee cake before the food. Very tasty. Looking forward to trying more of the menu, but wasn't disappointed.

Great spot for breakfast or early lunch. The food is delicious, the menu is large, but not overbearing, and the service was attentive and friendly. The coffee cake was outstanding, as was my meal. My eggs and sausage were cooked perfectly. I love the So-Cal surfing/skateboarding theme to the inside of the restaurant. There is pictures,articles, and memorabilia hung to observe and read to keep you occupied while you wait. It was busy but the turnover was fast and while eating I didn't feel rushed by waitstaff.

The Beach Break Cafe is a wonderful spot for breakfast brunch! The atmosphere is low-key and decorated with lots of cool surf paraphernalia, making it a fun place to enjoy a meal. The waitresses were fantastic and very attentive to our needs. We ordered the Eggs Benedict from the specials board, and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee cake, served hot and topped with cinnamon icing, was a perfect treat, and the coffee was good as well. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back!

One of the better breakfast options in Oceanside. Located right on HWY 101 it’s not very far from the ocean and carries that casual, beachy feel to the restaurant. It’s quite large on the inside with many different sitting areas as well as covered outdoor seating, which is where we sat for our breakfast. There is a large free parking lot in back so parking was really easy. Our waiter was also very polite and the service was very fast. Only downside was we had to wait about 30 mins to be seated for a party of 4 for our Saturday morning brunch. For my first visit I chose the Santa Fe Scramble and loved it. The chorizo was perfectly spicy and it was a large sized portion. I opted for the free Coffee Cake on the side and thought it was one of the best Coffee Cakes that I have had in a very long time. It was moist and full of cinnamon flavor and the glaze on top was warm and just mixed so well with it. I would not miss it! Overall a great breakfast spot. I don’t drive up to Oceanside often but next time I do I would definitely consider eating here again and would recommend to anyone else in the area.

This cafe is only open until 2:00 pm, but the breakfast/brunch menu is quite extensive and the food is the best I’ve had! Lots of specialty items like crepes with a variety of fillings and toppings!

Loved the waffles, potatoe pancakes, chile verde omelette, would definitely go back. If busy , you will have to wait. They have a patio for dogs on the side facing the parking lot.

Fries and coffee cake are the real standouts. Generous plates, lots of choices. Particularly friendly service. Killer Burrito was really good.

I hate to admit that I was born in Oceanside & I had never tried this restaurant. Maybe because of the long lines on weekends so....we tried it Monday & It was very good. I am not a breakfast eater so I tried the Grilled Cheese - Our Way! 11.95 Jack and cheddar cheeses, bacon, tomato. Perfectly grilled on your choice of bread & has a small salad on the side. After eating I 1/2 of it (thats all I ate), I realized the tomato & bacon was forgotten. Now hubby got the Juicy Fresh Ground Beef Patty 5oz 14.25 with egg over easy & their home potatoes (yummy) & toast. He wasnt crazy about the patty but everything else was very good. Now fast forward 1 day & we decided to try the restaurant again. I had a small salad with blue cheese & decided to try a cup of Homemade Spicy Chicken Chili Cup $6.95 Topped with cheese and onions on request. (no thanks) I took 2 bites of the chili & put it aside, I didnt like it at all. (I would of thought they take it off the bill if I didnt eat it) Hubby had a special that was no on the menu, I believe it was called Chile Verde (pork) hash mixed with their home style potatoes, 2 different onions & a egg on top. He & I both liked it, it was a LOT of food.

We had a 30-35 minute wait which is understandable for a Sunday and we were willing to wait, they had really good reviews! The service was very quick once we were seated we put in our order and our coffee cake came out within minutes. The coffee cake was the star of the show and is a MUST GET! You will not be disappointed. The rest of our meal was just okay. I got the country fried steak with hasbrowns and it was just alright. I wish the hasbrown were crispy and a bit more flavor in the gravy. We will come again for the coffee cake but probably won’t order anything else.

Service was great and the food was delicious. Got the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs and hashbrowns. Chicken fried steak was light and tender with flavorful gravy (had a hint of sweetness which I didn't hate). Eggs and hashbrowns were great. Rated 4 stars because while I think the food and service was great, I paid slightly more here than I would a similar establishment. Overall, I'll be back again!

Overall decent food, prices weren't bad I went with the awesome omelette and it's was...good? Felt like it had to much going on and couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Would def come back though if I was in the area

Everything was delicious to me. A few things were compared to Waffle House, like the biscuits and gravy.... biscuits were not great but the gravy was very good, corn beef hash was better on a previous visit but still ok. The French toast and veggie omelet though... sooo good! Sevice was ok, wished the waitress checked on us a bit more and getting some water spilled on my son by the server, he was a good sport and we had a good laugh. Eating outside in the sun was a little rough but one of the bus boys came to the rescue and knew how to tilt the umbrella. They did however forget to give my wife her coffee cake, which I ended up going back for... because if you had it before you know it's worth the trip. Over all the food was good and the service was ok.

Great place for breakfast. Nice portion size. Prices are slightly higher than I expected but the food was very good. Can't give 5 stars because everything would need to be outstanding which is difficult to achieve. Well definitely go here again.

Food was ok, nothing stood out enough so that I would like to wait another hour to be seated. The name of the restaurant has the word cafe on it but the cafe was pretty watered down. There were other little details about the service that didn't invite us to return but overall the decoration is cool, the location is good and being so you have to wait an hour for a table, tells me a lot of people love it, so you gotta try it and make your own opinion. Came here for Saturday morning brunch and I've had this place bookmarked for a year. This restaurant is always busy and I can see why. With over 2500+ Yelp reviews and rated at 4 1/2 stars, I just had to come by. We sat at the bar (we wanted first available) otherwise it would've been over 30 minutes for a table. I can't remember our servers name but she had a high pitch voice. She was very nice and sweet. Food: Pork Tenderloin Chops with potato pancakes and scrambled eggs. Portuguese Sausage with hash browns and sunnyside eggs. Mac Salad The chops were delicious. Soft and tender and easy to eat. The eggs were cooked as I ordered. Scrambled hard well done and burn it. The potato pancakes were just meh. I was not a fan of it. The portuguese sausage was dry but still had a great flavor. I think if it wasn't cooked well done it would've been perfect. (I've eaten a lot of portuguese sausage being that it's a staple in Hawaii.) Overall, a nice pretty large restaurant. A lot of tables and of course outside seating available too. Have a cup of coffee as you wait but don't forget to let your server know you did. It is not complimentary and it's the honor system. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. :)

We went on a Sunday around noon and the wait was not too bad. They have a big variety of breakfast food and lots of a la carte items (my favorite). I made my own whole wheat avocado toast! The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Second time here and as usual the breakfast was very good! The crispy home fries are my favorite and they’re “fluffy pancakes.” My friend had the Huevo Rancheros and she said “they were to die for!” All the staff could be a little more friendlier and maybe acknowledge the customer even if they aren’t your server. I’ve tried to get into this place on the weekends and it’s in possible.

The corned beef hash was fantastic as well as the French toast. The corned beef hash had bark like crust which was amazing and at the house potatoes seemed like they were freshly cooked. Very tasty. Awesome the aesthetic of the whole place matched its surfer theme

Very busy but was seated within 20 minutes. The 50/50 on drink menu is for Arnold palmer but she made it as a hot cocoa and coffee with whipped cream and it was oh so good. Had the Awesome omelette and could have done without the bacon but it was delicious with the salsa. The fruit bowl was very refreshing. Husband had the chile verde omelet and be enjoyed. Oh and the crumb cake was a welcome surprise. Waitress Summer was awesome.

I visited on a Saturday morning around 10 AM and experienced a 25-minute wait. The ambiance was quintessential Southern California, with a laid-back vibe and friendly patrons. My primary reason for the visit was to indulge in the chicken fried steak, a dish I hadn't enjoyed in quite some time. Unfortunately, it was rather underwhelming and didn't leave a lasting impression. On the other hand, my wife ordered the corned beef hash, which was exceptionally tasty. While I don't foresee myself returning due to the convenience of closer dining options, I don't regret the visit.

Cool beach-esque vibe with a solid menu, good food, and great service (servers, hosts, bussing staff). Catherine K was an awesome sever! Lots of seating options, indoor tables, booths, counter as well as dog friendly patios. Small parking lot available or street parking, gets very busy especially on weekends.

I'll start with what I didn't like. Went on a Thursday round 1130 so not busy. Hostess saw us waiting to be seated and ignored us while continuing to talk to other employees and kept us waiting. Also felt like we were not welcomed there. Anyway, other than that we liked this place. Food was good and plentiful. Also not a bad deal. Anyone can have a bad day so can't wait to go back

Visited this past Sunday during a busy rush hour and I could not be happier with the service we received. When we arrived, we were informed that it would be a 25 minute wait so we took a seat to wait for our table and within 10 minutes we were seated. We were shown to our seats and promptly greeted by our wonderful server, Sara. She started us with cups of water immediately and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus. She returned shortly after, took our order and brought out our food in what seemed to be record time! We waited less than 10 minutes for 4 eggs, 1 turkey sausage patty, 2 bacon strips, 1 hash brown, 1 Belgian waffle and 1 French toast. Sara checked in on us twice and made sure that we were completely satisfied with our experience. Overall, the food was very good. Eggs were cooked to perfection, the hash browns were average, the turkey sausage was excellent and the Belgian waffle was a solid 4.5/5 as well. The food was good but the main reason we will be returning is because of the customer service we received from Sara. Her friendly disposition and ability to make you feel at home really tied the whole experience together. She definitely deserves a raise! Thanks for great service and a great experience, Sara!

Very popular restaurant that normally has exceptional food. I ordered their seafood omelette. It reportedly has crab, shrimp, and scallops. Along with bacon and avocado. I did not taste any crab or scallops nor did I see any. I did see three small shrimp. It had excessive amount of avocados in it. It also lacks any type of sauce that normally you receive on a seafood omelette.. The omelette was just boring. Biscuits and gravy we’re not that good. The biscuits were hard and tasteless. The gravy was decent. Our waitress was Molly and she was very good and did an exceptional job.

There’s no wait if you choose to sit in front of the counter. Just expect a nice view of the kitchen and service traffic. We ordered plain french toast and banana french toast. The wait was not too long but it was slightly burnt. I was expecting a sweet taste but was left with a bitter aftertaste. It was a 4/10.

We stopped to have breakfast great place but the food and service not so great... potatoes were cold in the center and days old, omelet was cold, toast not toasted ... I didn't eatit...Sorry to say but we wasted our breakfast money ... No one came back to the table to check on us... Great place but you guys need to do better with the food and service.

This used to be my go to place when visiting from out of town. That was until my last visit at the end of last month. The waitress was almost nonexistent at our table the entire visit. And then we get the bill and it seems rather high but we paid and then reviewed the receipt when we got back to the hotel right next-door. Turns out without so much as a mention about it we were charged and automatic gratuity not once but twice. Two charges of $32 a total of $64 added with no heads up. So we went back in and asked about it got a half ass apology and was refunded for the auto gratuity or so we thought. After reviewing bank statements I noticed I was only refunded half of one of them. Shady all around. This is also no longer allowed in the state of California and will be reporting accordingly. So disappointing. If you eat here double check to check.

As a local I've tried coming here but If you come after 10am, expect the wait times to be horrible. Their kitchen size and cooks cannot keep up with the size of The place. people are waiting 45 minutes. This place is easy more for tourists. But if you get a table get the coffee cake.

Unfortunately, we were unable to stay and eat. We had made a reasonable accommodation request for our autistic daughter, but it was not honored. As a result, she became overwhelmed and had a meltdown, and we had to leave without dining. It was disappointing, and families with special needs should be aware that accommodations may not be supported here.

Most cheap fake tasting food ever. I ordered a bagel and it was a bun. Unflavored food. It tasted like I imagine jail food. The employees were nice tho.
