The most consistent food in town. The best wings in the area and my staple for anyone who visits. Wings come with either 10, 25, or 50 which puts me in difficult situations when trying to decide how many to order. Usually I can eat 10 no problem, but 25 is tempting because the flavor is so good. The wings are a good size so they get filling when you start hitting double digits. Steak tidbits are very good but it’s important to order the mozzarella cheese well done broiled on top to make sure the crips taste pops with the barbecue sauce. The house barbecue sauce is very good addition to any sandwhich. The cheeseburgers are very good quality and generous size with juicy bites and a good portion of the side of fries. French onion soup is also very good, important to get the cheese broiled well done on top similar to the steak tidbit strategy. Friendly good staff with fair prices. Fun spot with live music. Best place to go for thanksgiving eve, Sunday night football or any other night to hang with friends and family. Not a fan of horse betting inside bar but to each his own.

Great pub type restaurant with an attached bar. Great for Sunday brunch. There is a choice of about 12 entrees served with a choice of bloody Mary, screwdriver, or a pint of beer; coffee or tea and homemade coffee cake. The all inclusive brunch is around $15.95 plus tax and tip. Very reasonable. There is also a mid week special, which includes appetizer, main course, dessert, and coffee or tea; $22.95. It is served until 11 pm Monday through Thursday. The service is very friendly and courteous. There is an extensive menu and bar offerings. They are opened late..

Chicken Parm was good. Jungle Juice cocktail was sweet and strong. Server (Gunnar?) was good. Will come back.

2nd time dining at J. Paul's and it is consistent and delicious! We started with the wings and fried pickles which were spears and done perfectly! We loved the fried pickle spear approach. Wings were cooed perfectly and delicious. Skirt steak was amazing and Chicken Parm was perfect 🙌🙌🙌🙌 portions are huge, staff is AMAZING, friendly and attentive. I give the staff a 10++ See you all soon!!! Definitely a new favorite ❤️

EXCELLENT- my family needed a restaurant/bar to host 25-30 people between funeral services. I called Tuesday evening and J Paul’s had everything ready for the following day! The staff was super friendly, food was great and price was very reasonable! We could not have picked a better place. We were seated in the private back room and it worked out perfect under the circumstances. A huge thank you to Bruno and the entire staff!!

I was looking for a place to watch the New Orleans Saints game. This bar has several TV's and the bar keeper was happy to put on the game for me. We stayed for several drinks and some bar snacks. The other patrons were very friendly and we had great conversation.

The onion soup had lots if onions and the cheese was good, but could have used more. It was a bit salty, but if you like that then it's OK. The wings were excellent. Meaty and moist. I asked for garlic butter on them which isn't on the menu. Really enjoyed them. Quick friendly service.

Stopped in last night for dinner for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a comfortable little place with great drinks and Laura our waitress was friendly and very personable. We felt right at home. She recommended a few popular items on the menu such as the chicken and steak tidbits and wings. We will get them next time for sure because we are definitely coming back. We ordered the chicken parmesan hero and the chicken BLT and they were both delicious. All covid-19 protocols were in place as well.

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT/BAR. They have the best fried pickles. Their steak tidbits never disappoint. They have amazing wings. And when I am watching my weight I LOVE their salads. They pour a great drink which is always a plus. The staff is super nice both in the restaurant and the bar.

The staff are warm and friendly. The food is delicious! I had the marinated steak, garlic mashed potatoes and assorted steamed mixed vegetables and my husband the pro burger with onion rings and French fries. Everything was piping hot, cooked perfectly and delicious!

Food was delish. Shared the fried pickles.. to die for..a bacon blue cheese stuffed burger and skirt steak with fondue. Oh yum!

We have been going to J Paul's for decades. It's always been good for pub food, with a nice beer selection and great burgers. We knew them for their wings, but I realized that memory goes back to the time when chicken wings were first coming into their own, these days even pizza places do good wings. We went with a friend, and we had two great burgers prepared as promised, and they were as large, juicy, and delicious as we have experienced in past. Onion rings were huge and crispy, fries and spicy waffle fries were nice sides. The real surprise is that I took a chance on a pastrami melt. I say a chance because pastrami has undergone a metamorphosis from universally delicious to usually mediocre... the pastrami here was sliced thin, tender and flavorful with strong and correct spices and the texture you hope for. I haven't had pastrami that good in years.

My friend and i wanted just some dessert and drinks and we took a chance at a place on Merrick called J Paul Terrace Cafe. Walked in a people were at the bar and the host behind the bar said we could sit at an elevated table/stool. Laura came over and she was so welcoming. Seem to always be more careful going into bars that no one knows you yet. But she was so welcoming we relaxed immediately. Given that it's an Orish bar with a restaurant attached to it was even better. There was noone in the restaurant since we got there a little late but the bar had a good amount of people. It just felt good to be around humans again just trying to relax and have a drink. The other bartender (male) was also quite friendly and we ordered a Guiness and a cocktail. The Guiness was quite smooth and went down so fast and it hit the spot. I complained loudly about how maybe there was a hole in the glass and half the patrons picked up their own glasses to complain as well. It was a very nice moment and brought lots of laughs. It felt like afterwards there were more drinks being poured!! Lauri was such a wonderful person. She normally does not bartend on Sat, but we were lucky to have her that night. She normally waitresses in the restaurant attached to bar. We will make it a point to try the food there when she is there for sure!!! We did manage to get some desserts including a nice torturous and a peanut butter chocolate type cake. Did enjoy both, preferred the tartufo. We stayed there until closing and unfortunately do to pandemic restrictions, had to leave the premises prior to avoid them from getting any tickets. What a quaint place and I drive by many times and very happy stopped for a nice brew!!!

Food was good. The dinner specials are a better choice than the standard menu. Fresher and handcrafted instead of standard bar style food.

Always enjoyed their food but this time something was different. Why did you change the calamari? No go back to the original version. Where’s the tentacles?Something different with the wings also. Go back to the original recipe. Don’t twice fry. I still enjoy the tidbits!

We were there to have dinner and watch a band. Service was excellent. The food was a little above average. Fish and chips had too much batter. When I peeled it away the fish alone was good. I think it was frozen before being fried. Chicken wings were BIG and the BBQ sauce was tasty. Onion rings looked and tasted homemade. I just wish they were a little more generous with them. My friends enjoyed the shrimp parmesan with penne and the steak tidbits. The atmosphere was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the band.

I have lived in Oceanside my entire life and I have never been to J Paul's but have always heard really good things about it. I'm happy to say that I agree. The atmosphere was very pub like with a separate entrance to the bar. The booths were roomy and the area was open. I could see four televisions all airing a different channel. I ordered the roast beef Cafe (I think)which is really a French dip and it was excellent. I ordered it rare and it came rare. That almost never happens. My husband ordered steak tidbits which were good I wasn't a fan of the bbq sauce. The table came with freshly fried potato chips which I think we're Idahoes. We got the spinach artichoke dip which could have been more flavorful but was not salty and I appreciated that. There was lots of spinach and artichoke in it as well so it was thick not at all thin. It came with chips that couldn't handle the thickness of the dip itself. I tried them with the potato chips and they were good. We also got an order of 10 jumbo hot wings. They were excellent as was the blue cheese dip. Our server was very attentive and I'm sorry that I did not get his name. We enjoyed ourselves at lunch and will return in the future.

Great bar food. Good service. Good place to drink 🍷 & watch sports. They have a bar on the right side of the entrance and on the left side is sit down dining. There’s even a large room in the back if you want a large group or small/medium gathering. I love the onion rings, they are amazing! (hand dipped). Chicken wings are meaty and no xtra charge to split the flavors in one order. I really come here just for the onion rings and wings, but the burgers and other stuff is good too. Portions are very good and they have specials throughout the week. Look for coupons in local flyers and specials, but some coupons require cash payment (15% off order). Parking lot available with handicap parking and accessibility.
