Docent Brewing San Juan Capistrano Reviews
Very friendly staff and a Gimme IPA was the best way to calm my nerves from the LA traffic at NOON on a Monday. I know LA traffic is pretty much nonstop, but now I know why I fly from Sacramento (normally). Definitely worth a visit and easy to get to off of I-5. Tasty brews and food is served, but didn't have time to try it. Cheers!🍻
I found this gem while searching for local breweries on a vacation to Dana Point. It’s in an industrial center, and has a really great vibe! We sat outside in one of their covered spaces and enjoyed a beautiful sea breeze on a sunny summer day. The beer is great! The food is amazing as well. I would highly recommend this place, and I will definitely return when visiting.
Much larger than I thought it would be, beer was great, Kombucha was really tasty and the Kimchi quesadilla was amazing. Loved the decor, excellent lounging chairs and there's room upstairs if downstairs gets too crowded. The staff were really nice the service was great. All in all the atmosphere was positive, and comfortable not the typical bar scene and well worth the visit.
Carms, the Ogburns and myself, stopped for a few beers at this really hip brewery/pub. All of their beers are awesome, especially the 8 different IPA's to choose from. They have a kitchen that serves up excellent sandwiches and quesadillas. Buuuut, most of all, Docent Brewing is right off the bike path! So, if you are in to biking and beers, like I am, Docent is a great spot to stop and hang out!
Here right now! Happy Thursday! Great tasting brews, tried their Hefeweizen and Pilsner. Both were full bodied with nice flavorful notes. For a brewery they have a decent food menu. We had the Thursday special, 3 tacos for $12. Choices of birria, Carnitas and kimchi and tried all three. They were absolutely delicious with the meat flavorful, tender and juicy. Large space with plenty of seating. Busy already at 3:30pm! Fun and engaging staff!
🍺 🍞 🍻 Great vibes and great beer. They have a lot of beers, I liked the Ourglass IPA. They also had plenty of sandwich options- the chicken salad sandwich was good. Hidden spot but not far off the freeway and right next to biking paths. It’s a big space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good vibes for friends, family, anybody.
This brewery is a hidden gem. Very cool spot to grab some beer and food. This is the main Brewhouse for this company. They also have another satellite tasting room/brewpub. The atmosphere for this place is excellent, especially for being in a business park. They have a huge selection of beer on tap. Really a style of beer for everyone. There is plenty of comfortable seating to choose from. The staff was really helpful with choosing beer fro. Their massive list. If you enjoy the brewery feel, this place is definitely for you. Bring a jacket if it's cold. There is upstairs seating, lounge seating, bar top seating, and outdoor seating. On the back side of the building parking can be tight and sparse. However there is plenty of parking on the front side of the building and on the street just a short walk away. There is really only this brewery in this industrial complex, so it's a good things that they have a good size menu of food to choose from. It seems very family friendly, big picnic benches to accommodate large parties of people. They also do quarter poor, so if you are a tasting enthusiast, you can try all. Of their beers without spending a fortune. Restrooms for customers, spacious facility. Very well maintained place.
Nice brewery with food options. I only had beer.... Will try the food when I get back here.
Beer was excellent. The rice bowl was also fantastic, even though I got the chicken instead of the chile verde.
Great beer. Great food. Great beer. Did I mention their beer? Yeah, it's great! You can order half pours, or full pints. They sometimes offer quarter pours as well (if you want to do a flight). I recommend picking up a couple of Crowler cans to go, as well. Their food is wonderful as well
as expected, the flights of beers on the day were good and always fun. Good service at the bar, What was more impressive was the food! We will return.
Excellent beer + great food choices. Had a pork belly + kimchi bowl which was amazing. Also a Cobb salad which was outstanding.
Love the beer and food here. Even in these troubled times, they offer a great selection of beers and a safe/comfortable place to enjoy it! My favorite sandwich is their Korean Rueben; so much yum...

An amazing tap room. Entire family welcomed even the stroller. And best of all great balanced beers. Most of the line up are ales, rye, stouts.
Unassuming from the outside, awesome inside with tons of seating and a super chill vibe. Beer was great (didn't get to try the food but it looks good) and service was fast and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Great place, great beer! Very casual and friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
I loved the beer and the food. I got the summit sandwich. You order at the counter and sit at one of the long bar tops or on one of the many plush couches. There is a Korean spin on some of the food items with some kimchee options. It would have been so, so nice if there were servers and you didn't have to go back to the bar everytime. I would love to come back here during the day. Maybe when it's really hot. Nice place. Fun for SJC area, which is mostly wine. Also, they have jenga, foosball, and other games. Somehow you can bring your kids and they don't care. In fact, they include sources of entertainment.
Sixteen house made beers on tap. Excellent beer. Hourglass IPA was my fave. They have a decent size menu with interesting choices. I had the Korean Reuben and deviled eggs as a side. The food is great, but the portions are disappointing. The eggs looked like quail eggs and I could have ordered 2 sandwiches.
Really cool and laid back vibe. Was very busy but it was also the day after Christmas so that played a big role, I’m sure. Food was great. Cuban and mountain roll were awesome. Good beer. Moderate price range. Would probably go back if I lived in the area. It was also very cold in there so make sure to take a jacket.

Very nice place. Lots of fun places to sit and hang out. The food is excellent and the beers are great but they're mostly IPAs. Not enough sours or stouts which are my favorite. Too many kids, too, and the parking isn't great. I prefer The BrewHouse a lot more because of their huge beer selection with something for everyone. They offer great, free entertainment too and there is plenty of parking. Plus, you have to be over 21 to enter. The food is pretty limited though but the chili dogs are awesome and huge and you can bring your own food. Sometimes they have food trucks too.

This is what they are calling a "full pour" at Docent nowadays. Asked the bartender about it... "no, that's a full pour." Place has gone downhill. Recommend Station Craft. Beer is good and Brian is a top notch brewer. Just shitty value and customer service.
