Fish Sausalito Reviews
Hands down, this was my favorite meal of our entire trip! While it is a bit pricey, the quality and freshness of the seafood are undeniably irresistible. The batter on the fish and chips was perfectly crisp, providing a delightful contrast to the flaky, tender fish. The clam chowder was rich and creamy, generously filled with chunks of various seafood, making it a standout dish. Additionally, the mussels exceeded our expectations; we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion, all beautifully paired with a fantastic sauce. Overall, this was the best meal we had during our visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional seafood!
We drove for an hour and fifteen minutes to reach our beloved seafood joint, Fish, in Sausalito for a leisurely long weekend. For starters, we went with the clam dip, which was decent but not our top pick. On the other hand, the Saigon salmon sandwich was a hit, and we would order it again without hesitation. However, the ultimate star of our meal was the Dungeness crab roll. The crab meat was delightful and full of flavor, and the bread was toasted to perfection. Despite the price tag of $49, the crab roll was undoubtedly worth it as the portion size was very generous. It was hands down the best crab roll we've ever had in the San Francisco Bay Area. We highly recommend Fish Restaurant in Sausalito and suggest arriving early to beat the rush, but be prepared to wait nonetheless.
Fish and chips were very good. So was the New England Clam Chowder. Prices are about average for this area. $44 for the food and drinks in the photos. You have to line up for your order, and then they bring it to you. So if you come during lunch on weekends, be prepared to wait about 30 minutes in line.
I loved the vibe! Enjoyed the atmosphere and food. It was a very casual place that had another room with tables, a couch, and books. We will absolutely be returning again.
Fish with a "period" at the end of its name is special. It is located within the Clipper Yacht Harbor towards the northern end of Sausalito. It is right by the sea and the outdoors table and chairs puts you right into the harbor / sea-town vibe. Fish, as unassuming and simple as the name suggests, looks like a fish taco shack at best from the outside. But the long line of guests definitely makes you question what is going on. Customers order food and then grab a seat - plenty indoors, outdoors, and even a smaller cafe connected called Bait. But either way, visiting Fish on a weekday lunch, we were blessed with sunshine and sat on the wooden tables outdoors. Perfect breeze, sun, and the smell of the ocean. The food is marvelous. A whole variety of selection across various cuisines. My bibimbap definitely had a Korean origin but interpreted with a American seafood-centric way. It was fusion done right - Korean in many ways yet made American with the right twists. What made it come alive was the kimchi puree butter that they fried the rice with. And yes, the sunny-side up egg on top. Again, the taste was balanced, authentic and innovative. At the end of the day, when you grab lunch from a habor-side wooden shack right next to yachts, especially with beautiful sunny weather, there's a certain expectation of an experience. A crisp lager, great food, basking in sun with the ocean smell, with good company. Fish has it all. Yes, the food it a bit pricey. But for the experience, well worth it. Will absolutely return.
Great casual seafood restaurant with lots of outdoor seating right on the water. The dungeness crab roll is my favorite. It's pricey but worth it. A generous amount of hot lump crab with butter and chives on the softest roll ever. I'm glad I opted for salad instead of fries because it was so good with house made garlic croutons, spring greens, radish slices, golden beets, and even bits of fingerling potatoes tossed in a lemon vinaigrette.
Food 4.75 fresh and plentiful; Ambiance 5 outdoor seating perfect on a beautiful day; Service 5 order at the counter and seat yourself; came here after a morning of kayaking nearby and it was great find, the line out the door went quickly and finding a seat was easy, while waiting at a table and watching dish by dish go by I must have changed my order at least 5 times. I'll have to come back to try it all. The crab roll was pricey but worth it. The kids pasta was an adult size serving. I will definitely come back to try more. 4 people; $120
The red chowder was very good even though I usually prefer white chowder. The clam linguine was pretty good too. The portions are quite big, although I wish there were veggies in there. The bread was over toasted and tasted a bit weird. There was a long line at 1:30pm when we went and the line was equally long when we left at 3pm, so be prepared to wait
Great spot for seafood located in the marina area. Food is delicious and thoughfully prepared. Some interesting and unique items on the menu that make choosing a difficult task! Try the trout hotdog (sounds weird but its good!). A non seafood entry that really stood out was the Bombaloni beans. Proof that a few quality ingredients put together well are greater than the sum of their parts. But make sure you get extra bread for soaking up that sauce.
Fish Restaurant is pretty awesome. On a nice day, it is great to sit in the sun in their patio. We had their crab roll $42, fish & chips $24 and a poke bowl $25. My friends thought their crab roll was better than the ones at Woodhouse in SF. The butter on the buns made it great. On the fish & chips, the fish pieces were smaller than the ones from the Codmother in SF. This was still good because the potato wedges. The poke bowl was refreshing. Bonus points for bicycle parking in the patio. Great job everyone at Fish Restaurant.
I love this place. We’ve been here numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed. The line is long but it’s worth the wait. Head straight to the bar and grab something to drink while you wait in line. They always have good beers and great wines. They recently added more items to the menu but I’ll always highly recommend the Fish and Chips. I also recommend the Tuna Melt and Fish Bit Salad with Salmon Belly.
Been coming here for years. It’s amazing!! So fresh. Right by the water. Beautiful at sunset. I just order from the specials. It’s a pretty fast service. I have really liked their mussels historically. The pasta is super nice too. They have condiments at each table. Water automatically comes with lemon. Plenty of tables. Plenty of parking. Straight vibes. Meals are about $30. Fried are yummy. Fish & chips won’t fail you. Watch out for cilantro!
I recently visited a wonderful place at Sausalito Bay and I was truly impressed. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor seating options, allowing guests to enjoy a breathtaking view of the bay regardless of where they chose to sit. The bay view was absolutely stunning and the food was truly fantastic. The service was top-notch, with a very welcoming server who made the experience even more enjoyable. Every dish I had was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. I am definitely looking forward to visiting again soon to enjoy this delightful experience once more.
This was recommended to us by a friend and we were so glad we followed the recommendation. My son had oak-grilled rainbow trout on linguine. This fish was tender and the skin crisp. I had linguine and clams. This was the first time I can remember the dish being served with the clams still in the shells. The linguine was freshly made. It was also served with a big slice of bread to soak up the broth, which was not big enough. We ended up asking for more so that we could soak up more of that delicious goodness. The views from the deck overlooking the bay and marina were spectacular.
Lovely place, food is amazing. Fried fish was excellent and pasta was also really special. Only issue was weather was cold and the indoor seating is slightly small. We found a seat but was a little cold as they left the doors open with people going in and out.
Popular spot for fish and seafood in Sausalito. Awesome terrace seating to enjoy the sun and the bay views near the marina. Very popular with usually 30-60min wait time to order. Recommend the clam chowder and fish and chips. Bao tacos weren’t that great so I’d go with the regular fish tacos instead.
I have not reviewed any place since the pandemic started and to honest it is more difficult to review takeout places since this is new to many establishments and their food is best served in the restaurant. Takeout food often loses quality during transportation. However, I must give a shout out to Fish. My hub and I are on the search (starting today ) for perfect fish and chips that are crisp, crunching and delicious. Fish did not disappoint. I figured that the drive home would ruin the meal and the crust and fries would be soggy and a mushy mess. Well woo-hoo Fish have takeout fish and chips down to perfection. Crispy, favorable and if course of the highest quality. And as in the past, the staff are friendly, professional and engaging while still keeping distance. So friends, it is worth the drive and cost during a time unlike we have experienced before. Happy New Year and stay well and well fed.
Fish Restaurant in Sausalito, California, is a seafood lover’s paradise. With a commitment to fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients, this charming spot offers delightful dishes. Don’t miss their chowder, crispy fish and chips, and oysters on the half shell. Plus, the dog-friendly waterfront patio provides stunning harbor views. A must-visit for foodies! 🌊🐟🍽️ .
Fish is one of those great places where it's all about the food. The cooks and chefs are in back making great stuff and it's mostly all written on a blackboard. People just stand in line buy their food and find a place to sit. That's it just fabulous fresh fresh seafood in a gorgeous setting on the bay. What's not to like?
We stopped for dinner on a Friday evening and found it unexpectedly not too busy. We ordered crab sandwiches and mussels. The sandwiches were delicious and filling. The mussels we quite good although the preparation of the day -- tomato based -- was not the garlic/wine that is my favorite. The serving was huge though. . Sitting on the dockside was terrific as well. . Overall, a very enjoyable meal.
Clam chowder, fish n chips, Caesar salad, lemonade -- so good. Perfect combo for a bit of a nicer lunch on a road trip. The Boston white clam chowder is the best I've had in California, I don't know what they put in it (maybe a touch of white wine?) but I could eat it for ages + not get tired. Fish n chips: so juicy, well seasoned, crispy shell (probably made from batter). The wedge fries that came with it were the best texture/size (crispy outside, slightly moist innards). Caesar salad: great dressing, cheese, quality ingredients; croutons seasoned. Tart lemonade, good for a hot day. Atmosphere: chill w high quality food. Somewhat self-serve (water, they'll give you a tray w any ready-to-eat foods) but otherwise most food is delivered to you on patio. Unfortunately little to no shade on patio -- or rather, the tables w umbrellas get taken up first. Still pleasant coz next to the water. Not much of a view but it's fun looking at the seagulls and boats in harbor. Would definitely come again.
Got one of the fish of the day over noodles. Fish was done beautifully with a crispy skin and the lightness of the noodle sauce was perfect to bring out the flavor and quality of the fish. Oysters were fresh and the shrimp in the ceviche were plump and sweet. The lime juice in the ceviche also packed a nice punch.
Exceptional service here - a special shoutout to the young man who served us with a smile, and was immensely helpful regarding gluten free options on the menu. These are slightly limited (basically just salads) but I got the poke without rice (has soy sauce in it) and was in awe by the flavour! Chips and guacamole were also especially flavourful. Not your run of the mill guacamole, Fish’s has spice and dimensions to it!
Our first stop at Sausalito on a road trip. We chose this restaurant because of the high reviews. The views were beautiful. We chose outdoor seating because why not? There was a long line but the line moved quickly and the service after was also fast. Our food was served in just 5 minutes. The food was good. The fresh oysters were very fresh. The others were tasty and flavorful.
I came here a few times, never had fish n chips cause im not much of a fan but once I tried it here I been ordering it everytime. Besides that specific order they have so many other options and all are good. A must go if youre visiting Sausalito.
I'd like to give them a five, especially since they had homemade pastas. I ended up with pasta and halibut. I just think that one small fillet for the price could be improved upon. My wife said her portion was fine, though so it might be me. You can be the judge. Real good food, though. Different options than the norm and a nice fish market as well. You have to get your own drink as far as water. They bring your food to the table, but there's no servers.
It’s very good location with nice breeze and water view! Fast service with fresh food. Pets and family friendly. First time we had lunch here, treated by our daughter and son in law. We enjoyed the lunch and view! We went back there again another time, I made a mistake and ordered the spicy barbecue sandwich instead of fish like everyone else. The barbecue was not so great, but my husband shared his fish & chips with me and it was delicious.
Update 7/11/2025 Still had a fresh taste in what we ordered. Great customer service. Fish was very tasty. The tuna collar was very tasty. The other dishes were very tasty as well. This place is very busy. So I recommend that you come early to get what you want before you get hungry. Customers service was very good as well. Came back on 12/27/2019 Still great food and the line was not long at all. The clam chow was tasty and the red soup was spicy and delicious. The poke was spicy and delicious. The grill cheese sandwich was good for the kids because it has French fries with the meal.
The poke bowl It's so tasty. The fresh unpickled seaweed and the pickled mushrooms make the whole thing pop. I also had the white clam chowder. Potatoes. Still have a bit of crunch to them which is fabulous. Sit outside right by the water and bring your dog. It's a delight
Fish is right on the dock by the water. Off the tourist area. I could not see it from the road. Turn right at Clipper Marina Parking lot. Lots of parking. I was on so I parked on the street and walked into the marina. Food was great. Big portions. Price right on. The Portuguese red clam chowder was a great change from the white chowder. Smoked paprika gave it a unique flavor. Get the garlic bread to go with it. You could split the garlic bread with a friend…a lot. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.
Came here for Mother’s Day and it did not disappoint. I loved the outdoor seating area with a beautiful view of the pier and bay. The food was delicious and all tasted extremely fresh. We ordered oysters, crab sandwich, clam chowder and the bao buns. My favs were definitely the oysters and surprisingly the bao buns were extremely tasty and never had one with fish before! Highly highly recommend on a nice day and it’s a quick trip from San Francisco
We had a tasty meal - fish tacos and a unique, local take on a poke bowl. Couldn't resist trying the BBQ oysters as well, and found that we prefer them just raw haha. The Arnold Palmer really hit the spot on a hot day. Seating is very casual with picnic benches outside and some tables inside; you order at the counter and they will find and bring it to you. Prices are certainly a smidge high.
What a great place to grab a bite. Dad always told me to look for bustling spots, and the parking lot was crowded, the outdoor seating - even as the sun was setting - was jumping. This place checks the boxes for a Go-To meal. Very friendly order person really knew the menu and made a variety of recommendations. Pro Tip: The house made lemonade is fantastic. I enjoyed the Fish and Chips. Maybe a tad small on the fish portion. Still hungry I tried an over the top strawberry dessert (pictured) which really hit the spot after a great meal. Super spot in Sausalito
Everything was so fresh and delicious! It was nice to eat outdoors on the water. The fish and chips were the best I have ever had, hands down. Other standout dishes were the bombaloni beans, the Louie salad with dungeoness crab, the tuna melt and the daily specials that change all the time. Be prepared to wait on line if you don't get there when they open. One of the best restaurants in Sausalito!
This place is so good the seagulls line up for leftovers and gobble it up! No joke. True story! Our first time in this famous restaurant. It delivered! Tried the white chowder, the fish special of the day, rainbow trout over bed of pasta, and Saigon Salmon Sandwich with Japanese coleslaw. It was very tasty and satisfying! Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely with the bright beautiful blue skies and wind blowing. We arrived about 3:30pm and the line was out the door with about 10 parties ahead of us placing their orders. This tells you that no matter what time of the day this place is packed! I rate the white chowder as good. I’ve had the best somewhere else in the state, but I’ll keep that my secret because I am not reviewing that place here. If you know, you know… The fish of the day, rainbow trout was so good and flaky with its crisp skin. I absolutely love the pasta they used and the way it was flavored. It was spicy and to my liking. The Saigon salmon sandwich was very delicious and very much a banh mi sandwich with grilled salmon. The side of Japanese coleslaw was so tasty and I loved the flavor! All in all we had a very memorable experience and will be back!
Great prices, service, and best of all FOOD! Portuguese red chowder was a tasty start followed by queso dip special and the true highlight: crispy bao tacos 🤤 thank you for a great experience 🙏
There's really nothing that beats a hike in Marin followed by a fresh seafood lunch by the Sausalito pier at Fish. It's been around for many many years and is truly iconic. The menu features a selection of seafood sandwiches, pasta, fish and chips, clam chowder, etc. They also have rotating seasonal specialties handwritten on the chalkboard and several options for fish-of-the-day (more like fishes-of-the-day). The crab roll is my favorite! So much fresh crab, minimal butter and cream, a sprinkle of finely chopped chives--overall satisfying and not too heavy. It says it's on a Japanese milk bun but it seems like an Acme torpedo roll (toasted to absolute perfection). It's pricier compared to other options, but so worth it. Other notes: - You get a choice of sides; I like the coleslaw. Veggies are fresh and it complements the seafood well. - Fish and chips is yummy, but the fried cod and French fries gets a little much. It's best to share and mix-and-match. - Clam chowder is available in white or red! The red version has more spices and potatoes. I recommend this since it's hard to find. - The grill may not be ready right at opening, which limits menu items. - Ample parking in the big lot by the pier. - Bathrooms outside around the corner. - Self-serve tap water with a refreshing lemon slice. - Much as it's tempting to grab a table with the best view, the restaurant kindly requests that people order prior to seating and not to hog tables. The patio is well designed with 2 tiers, so there isn't really a bad seat.
So so fresh and yummy!! I love the fish platter with Petrale sole. It comes with a lot of fresh petrale, avocado, rice (which is nice), pickled coleslaw, and fresh tomatoes with onions. Everything is sooo fresh and amazing!!! When I see people ordering fried fish here, I think “uh??” Why get fresh fish and cover it in oil?? This place is too delicious for fried anything. Oh and the kids who work here are the sweetest ever!! Every one of them. <3 FYI There’s limited seating outside and nowhere to sit indoors.
Visiting SF and came to Sausalito. This was my first stop in Sausalito. The cashier was so nice and walked me through their menu thoroughly. I got the daily special-grilled trout salad and their rotating IPA. The trout was grilled and seasoned perfectly. The salad was tossed evenly in this delicious vinaigrette. Every bite was so satisfying and refreshing! With the IPA on a hot sunny day in January, it was such a nice experience. This was by far my top food experience in SF or whenever! Thanks! Highly highly recommend! 😊
We arrived around 1:30 PM and the line was all the way out to the parking lot. Several regulars mentioned they had never seen it that busy before. We almost left, but I am so glad we didn’t. First, this is an order then sit restaurant. That setup usually makes me nervous because people will hop out of line to grab a table, leaving those who stayed in line scrambling for seats once they have their food. That was not an issue here at all. There were plenty of tables and, surprisingly, plenty of rule followers. The restaurant sits right on the water, which definitely gives it an edge, but the food more than held its own. It was some of the best seafood we had on our trip. I ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips, and my wife had the tacos. Everything was extremely flavorful and tasted genuinely fresh. Between waiting in line and ordering, we probably spent close to an hour before sitting down, plus another 10 to 15 minutes for the food. Even so, the experience was absolutely worth it, and I would not hesitate to do it again.
Stopped in on a quick trip over from San Francisco. The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. The portions were enormous. Definitely a great spot kind of out of the way to enjoy a sunny patio meal. The Portuguese chowder was different and delicious. I had to go with the class fish and chips, too.
I really enjoyed the food at Fish, honestly, is was pretty well done. The fish was crispy, if a bit greasy, and was in some huge portions. We also got garlic bread, which was amazing, definitely recommend. Among a few other things we got that were very well done. The things is, the wait for the food was incredibly long for what we did end up getting and the price did seem a bit high for the atmosphere (on some random port and filled with a seat-yourself and be eventually served idea) which didn't quite meet what I expected. Still amazing and the food was heart-attack greasy and good that I could eat again. I'm not sure if this is truly a 5 star review, perhaps similar to Harris' is the way that it is 4.5 stars. 5 star if you're going with more casual vibes, 4 star if not.
I absolutely LOVE Fish. I am from out of town, so I don’t get to visit often, but whenever I am visiting my friends in the Bay Area I make a point to stop by and enjoy a meal at Fish. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. Plenty of options for all sorts of palates. I got the ceviche and red chowder. Both were so very tasty and I couldn’t get enough. We also had the white chowder, fish tacos, poke bowl, and fish and chips. Not a single bite survived. A bit pricey but oh so very good! Can’t beat the views and vibes here.
INCREDIBLE food and great atmosphere. We got the chowder, salmon smash burger, and crab roll. All were flavorful and unique. I was pretty skeptical about the salmon burgers (I often find them dry and the flavor okay) but this salmon smash burger made me question everything. There’s also a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We ate at the restaurant along the water, and it was just lovely. Will be back!
When in Sausalito, you “have” to eat at Fish! It’s our go-to spot, mainly because their fish smash burger never disappoints—hands down our favorite, plus, the skinny fries are, yes, skinny, and crispy, as they should! This time, we decided to try the clam dip since we never had it before. It was good, but nothing mind-blowing in terms of flavor; probably wouldn’t order it again. We also gave the tuna sandwich a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The bread was pan-fried to perfection, and everything came together really nicely. Just a side note: we tried the trout hot dog about four visits ago. Unfortunately, that one was a miss for us. It was overly salty and lacked flavor. The salt may have masked the flavor? We only ordered it because it was advertised as award-winning, but sadly, we didn’t agree and haven’t ordered it since. Bottom line: get the fish smash burger. Always worth it!
Was really excited to try this iconic spot and it didn’t disappoint! The food was super classic - my friends and I ordered a bunch of different items to share. I thought their famous fish and chips were pretty decent but what I really really loved about this spot was casual atmosphere - we seated ourselves right next to the water and enjoyed the view and breeze while we ate. Just great vibes overall and really satisfied my cravings

Yummy unique fish cuisine. Friendly fast service. Indoor seating on a chilly, breezy day is the best. Diners start lining up at 11 AM before the restaurant opens at 11:30 AM on a Sunday.

Can't say enough about this place. Great food and service. I ordered the Saigon Salmon Sandwich and my husband ordered the Crispy Bao Tacos. Both were delicious. Can hardly wait to eat here again!
Perfect in every way. Exceptional, friendly service for a fresh delicious meal. Authentic Sausalito experience and ambiance.
Fresh seafood! We had the chowder, ceviche and fish with the bao bun. Excellent!! Fast friendly service, great outdoor seating with plenty of space to accommodate the dogs. Will be back

Fish. is such a hidden gem. The restaurant was listed in our NY Times travel book so we decided to try it on our trip to CA. The food was fresh and amazing and the staff was very helpful and nice.
We went to Fish with family and friends on a sunny summer afternoon. I had the fish and chips and ceviche and they were both really good. My dad had the Portuguese fish soup and fish bao which he …
Great restaurant with amazing location and views, staff is super friendly and food is great and for a good price. Dont miss it!
Hidden gem. Secluded in a marina, views are great, you can have a calm enjoyable meal. Staff friendly and helpful. You order in by yourself and they bring the food to your table. Wines were simple and good, portions generous. I had a very tasty crab roll, expensive but worth the taste. Husband had squids on a salad, he should have had them with the fresh linguine but still good but he wasn’t satisfied:))
The view is great overlooking the Marina. The staff is awesome. My white chowder was good. Their slaw is on point. Didn't care much for their clams, idk something about the brith they were in. And the $22 burger wasn't worth it, in my opinion. My gf killed their fish tacos and went in on the clams, ha. I REALLY wanted their fish n chips but didn't get it. I would recommend getting it by the looks of all others who ordered it.
While visiting the area we visited Fish. on a suggestion from a family member in the culinary field. The venue is set up where you order food from the counter, find a seat, and wait for them to deliver it. We both got bowls of clam chowder to accompany an order of fish and chips and the fish smash burger. The clam chowder was pretty good. Earlier in our trip we had a superior clam chowder from the Monterey area and we couldn’t help but make comparisons, however, it was still enjoyable. The fish and chips was also just pretty good for me. The fish was lacking a certain umph of flavor and potato wedges aren’t necessarily my favorite type of fry. The fries that came with the fish smash burger were cooked and seasoned well. The fish smash burger wasn’t my girlfriend’s favorite. She ultimately thought the American cheese included with it threw off the taste. All in all Fish. had a lot of promise. If we were to return, we would definitely try other items on the menu.
Fish and chips are always good here, but make sure you get fries instead of the wedges. The fish is thick and there is a nice crunchy batter with homemade tartar sauce. Everything is expensive but you are paying for the relaxing oceanside view. Would recommend coming here if you are in the area for a relaxing brunch or lunch.
Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants that I had. The food is superb, and the seafood is fresh. As for the price, it is on the higher side. $12 for each of the kid's meals, $27 for the Salmon pasta, $24 for the Fish & Chips, $12 for the bowl of Clam Chowder, $15 for a glass of Sangria (not in the photos). I forgot to mention that the pasta is freshly made, extremely chewy and tasty. Even though the line to order is long, it goes by instantly. They have plenty of servers, and foods are served in time. If I ever stop by SF, I will definitely stop by here again.
Woow this place was popular! We got there roughly about 40min after opening and there was a line, the line only grew bigger during our whole visit! It was a fairly hot day so wished they could have served some water for us in the line. Just something to think about when you remindbus to think about your service twice at the desk. The food was so good. The coleslaw was delicious. The portion was too big, hope they can reduce the portions and lower the price.
Ample parking just beside the restaurant building. Order at the counter and they’ll call your number as they bring out the food to the dining area so keep your ticket handy. Lovely outdoor area to be in especially in the evening. Food is above average but nothing special. The batter on the fish and chips were a little thick and the spaghetti’s texture was a little grainy. Would still consider this again when visiting Sausalito again.
Review for FISH in Marin FISH in Marin is an absolute gem for seafood lovers. The daily specials are nothing short of amazing—each dish is crafted with the freshest catch, making every visit a unique experience. The quality of the fish is outstanding, with flavors that shine through in every bite. Whether you’re indulging in their expertly grilled fish, a rich and flavorful chowder, or one of their incredible seafood sandwiches, you can taste the care and attention to sourcing. The casual waterfront setting adds to the charm, making it the perfect spot for a laid-back yet high-quality meal. If you appreciate fresh, sustainable seafood, FISH is a must-visit!
Food was really good. Fish & chip was the best. We also got Ceviche. Honestly it was a bit disappointing. It seems like it’s missing some ingredients. It’s not the same when we had it last time (maybe a year ago). Did they cut down on the ingredients? Definitely not worth $24. Fast service. Was able to find outdoor table without any issue. Dog friendly. More than I can asked for.
Busy Bayview restaurant. This was a great stop after biking from San Francisco to Sausalito. You arrive at a line. You enter your order at the register and then take a seat with your number. They'll bring the food to your table. The fish and chips were fabulous. The carrots were quite tasty. The garlic bread was good. There is dockside seating and indoor seating, mostly picnic benches. Overall we would recommend dining here.
Fish. is a solid seafood spot with fresh options and a simple, appealing concept. You can pick from the fish of the day listed on the blackboard, and each dish comes with a side of your choice. I ordered the squid with spaghetti — the squid was good, but the spaghetti didn’t quite hit the mark. I chose it because I was hungry, but next time I’ll probably go with the salad instead. One of my friends ordered the fish and chips, and it looked very good. I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ll get on my next visit. We also shared fries, and the portion size was impressive.
I recently had lunch at Fish. in Sausalito, and it turned out to be a fantastic seafood experience. There was no wait time when we arrived, and the service was impressively quick without feeling rushed. The staff kept things moving smoothly, which made the whole meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and everything genuinely impressed. The crab rolls were fresh and generously filled, with sweet crab meat that tasted clean and perfectly seasoned. The smashed fish burger had a great crispy edge with a juicy interior, and the Saigon salmon sandwich brought a nice balance of savory and bright flavors. Each sandwich felt thoughtfully put together rather than just thrown on a bun. The clam chowder was rich and creamy without being overly heavy — exactly what you want near the water. The fish and chips were crispy and golden on the outside while staying flaky and tender inside. One standout surprise was the crispy bao tacos; they had a satisfying crunch and layered flavors that made them different from your typical seafood fare. Overall, the food was consistently great across the board, the service was efficient, and the zero wait time made the experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can order broadly from the menu and trust that everything will deliver. Definitely a solid lunch spot in Sausalito.
A little hike north of the ferry terminal in Sausilito but well worth it. Amazing passionfruit Ceviche. Fish and chips were super tasty and I found a nice key lime habenero sauce.
Food was awesome! Super fresh seafood and simple flavors (really to let the seafood shine for itself). Portions are okay, and price is a little high, but good choice to go once in a while if you want to treat yourself to good fish tacos or fish and chips! (It’s $22 for 3 small fish tacos) Has good things you can share with family and friends for casual small bites! There’s usually always a line, but lots of places to sit inside and outside. Also dog friendly!

Situated along a harbor in Sausalito is this solid spot for fresh and tender fish and chips. For the price and when compared to other spots in the Bay, I hoped for larger portions. Two of the filet…

If you're in the mood to spoil yourself and you want a view, this is a good choice. The menu is, of course, fish-oriented. While the prices might raise an eyebrow, you get a meal that's worth it.…

Visited on a beautiful sunny trip to Sausalito, this place is right by the water a little out of view from the main roads. Great views, atmosphere and vibes as they say (especially their taste in music to play). Started off with drinks and a cup of chowder, which we got served immediately. Tasty, good portion and nice and hot. Not particularly a chowder for the ages but quite decent, good even. I got the fish and chips for my main, decent portion. The chips (which in the home country we'd call wedges) were okay, crispy potates that were the perfect dipping tool for the tartar sauce, which was absolutely heavenly. The fish was nothing to really write home about, expected a bit more for the price. The sauce was really the main thing holding this meal together for me. My partner had the daily special crab burger, which was a bit of a let down. Definitely not a grabable burger; although the actual meat of the crab was quite delicious, there were only a few bites of it and the rest of the crab mostly consisted of the slightly off-tasting batter. It did come with a portion of fries (salad was also an option) which were very handily dipped in the tartar sauce. Given the price (80 dollars for two people including drinks) it felt like it should have been more like a proper sit-down restaurant than the takeaway-esque experience we had.
I recently dined at "Fish" in Sausalito, California, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. On the positive side, the restaurant's atmosphere was truly delightful. Nestled in the scenic coastal town, it provided a wonderful setting for a relaxing meal with beautiful views. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the food. While it was decent, I expected a bit more from a seafood restaurant in such a location, especially for the price. The real letdown, though, was the service. The gentleman at the counter appeared disinterested and unhelpful when it came to making recommendations or answering questions about the menu. This aspect of the dining experience left me wishing for more. Overall, "Fish" offers a fantastic ambiance, but it falls short when it comes to both food quality and attentive service.
Fish, situated on the Sausalito boat dock, presents a mix of hits and misses. First off, there’s plenty of free parking. Secondly, service was quick and efficient. You order in line, find a place to sit (indoors or outdoors), and wait for your food to arrive. Thirdly, there’s a lot of dishes to choose from. These are what we ordered - The fish and chips, although seasoned well, were disappointingly oily. The clam pasta, which had good reviews, lacked flavor. The dozen of mixed oysters weren't properly shucked. And, they were not inexpensive. On the bright side, the clam chowder stood out and the view was captivating. While the meal had its high and low points, the delightful clam chowder and scenic view added value to the experience. Unfortunately, we will not be going back. There are other seafood places worth trying.
Really cool place to eat. Great views of the water and boats. Our food was not great. The fish and chips I would not get again. The chips were not the usual chips, but they were good. The battered fish was mostly batter not much fish and kinda grease soaked. Wife got the ceviche. She didn't like it. Was expecting more traditional with lime juice. I wouldn't go here again.

My boyfriend and I took a ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito to check out this place. We had heard great things and read these great reviews. Frankly, this place was a disappointment. I found it strange that we sat ourselves, paid ahead, and were given cafeteria trays to carry certain dishes like the chowder (which was pre-made and ladled in an bowl immediately) over to our table ourselves. Not quite the sit down experience we were expecting. We were also given a number which would be yelled by a server and brought to us for the dishes actually cooked by the kitchen. It’s not the restaurant’s fault that I was expecting a more traditional sit-down and have a waiter take our order experience. Now what I cannot excuse is how bad our meal was. The oyster special we had, had cheese on it even though nowhere on the menu did it indicate that the oysters would have cheese. The pasta that the fish came on was thick and in a garlic sauce that was incredibly watery (the opposite of what aglio e olio should be). The fish was incredibly thin and nothing special. It also came out of the kitchen in about 5 minutes which is frankly far too fast for anything of especially good quality to be made. We did not see a server at any point during our meal to check on how things were until the very end. We ordered the Portuguese chowder which tasted like a tomato soup I could’ve bought in a store. It was profoundly underwhelming. If you truly enjoy quality seafood do not come here. I’ve attached a nice photo but this place is a perfect of example of looks being deceiving. The positive reviews are frankly misleading and your money and your time is much better spent elsewhere.
After waiting in line for over 30 minutes, the food was pretty underwhelming. The poke fish was cut way too big. We also ordered the fish smash burger, which had too much sauce and was just weird. The side salad with it was not dressed. The white bean and tuna salad was the best thing we had, but lacked flavor. They gate keep the napkins and utensils behind the register, making it awkward to interrupt someone ordering to ask for some. Do yourself a favor and go to Hook Fish Co. or Joinery instead. We won’t be back.
Came here 8 years ago and remember very well my gf and I both disliked it, but given it's popularity we were hoping it was just an off day and gave them another try today and it was just as terrible. Consistently bad and overpriced tourist trap. We ordered a cup of clam chowder $8 and the fish and chips $24. Chowder was very mediocre, but I eat a lot of chowder and have high standards for it. Fish and chips was a total rip off. 3 small pieces of fish that are inflated by very thick, oily batter. We both agreed that the chips was the best of the 3 items. At least the tartar sauce was good and high quality. Too bad there was hardly anything to eat it with. Hook Fish a bit further up north (or in SF) has some of the best fish and chips (gf has spent a considerable amount of time in the UK and that's her favorite around here). Open seating. Order at the register, grab a table, and they will bring you your food. They have a limited selection of draft beers and wines available. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Nice view of the water. Free parking lot. Do not recommend at all
I drove over an hour to have a unique and affordable dining experience on the water. Nice location. The gentleman taking my order at the front was very pleasant and offered suggestions of food pairings. Very happy there. I was given a tray with an empty ice glass which I presumed was for waitstaff to fill once I was seated. When I received my food, my fish was beyond greasy like it had not been drained before plating. The fish however was delicious and the portions were plentiful. Wait staff never filled my water glass, nor did they stop by to offer me a box for my leftovers. I ended up just leaving my uneaten food. For what I paid, I don't feel like this was a counter serve restaurant, and I would have expected at least some type of table service. I never got water, nor did I ever see a place to get any. I left pretty dissapointed despite the friendly welcome I received.

I am completely puzzled by the rating of the food quality. Clam chowder was starchy and overtly oily - underwhelming. Paste Vongele, sauce did not cling to the pasta, extremely salty overwhelming any taste from the clams. Almost like someone pour clam juice over tepid pasta. No flavor. Fish and Chips should be a main stay of a seafood restaurant. This was barely edible- hard crusty batter that overwhelmed the less-than fresh fish dripping in oil. As a frequent tourist, i have eaten at a number of good seafood restaurants in the area. This is not one of them and certainly not worth the 30 minute queue in the cold. Avoid. The staff were efficient though probably too overwhelmed to be friendly.
