Kalaveras Simi Valley Reviews
We had a good time here on a Monday night. The chicken taquitos were good. Margaritas were good (lime, mango and hibiscus). Lomo saltado with steak was good and a good sized portion. Also our server was super attentive and checked on us throughout.
Great food, great drinks and great service!
A fun place to go to, especially to celebrate a birthday! They give you an option of a drink, or a dessert for the birthday person's treat. The music was great. It is kind of loud so it's not a place to go have an intimate conversation.
Surprisingly good Mexican food. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I got chicken fajitas. There was plenty of chicken and vegetables. Not very much guacamole and sour cream. They could give you a little more than that. But we had a great time. It got a little loud towards the end. So you've got to like loud music
Insanely surprised at how great this place is. The food is great, music is great and a nice mix of authentic Mexican and popular tracks, but THE VIBE and SHELLSEA were unmatched. Shellsea, our server, made the experience THE BEST - great laughs, humor, and an amazing surprise birthday shot without us even asking that made my birthday great. Love her and love this place!
We go here every Tuesday for Taco Tuesdays. They have a $1.49 street taco special every Tuesday, use to be $0.99 taco Tuesday when we started coming here. I love the atmosphere and ambiance. My daughter and I have been coming here so long, many on the staff know us. They have a fully stocked bar and indoor/outdoor seating located in the Simi Valley Towne Center shopping plaza with a great view from the patio. The food is delicious, have not had a bad experience, even the free table chips and salsa is cooked fresh. Will continue to make this venue part of our families TACOVIE (Tacos and a movie) experience for as long as we are in California. 🥰
Kalaveras is the best place to have cool & fun Birthday parties when you turn 21 yrs old… The employees are Very fun when you celebrate big parties or celebrations I didn’t expect when they had the Girls employees go on the men’s shoulders and spin around and take shots of tequila so much fun and entertainment. It’s a must to try..
I had my birthday dinner here with friends floating though throughout happy hour. I was very pleased with my guava margaritas and birria tacos! My friends bought me a bday round and the server team put on a great show!!
They went out of their way to assist & accommodate my sister in law who uses a walker. We went for the $1.99 Taco Tuesday. Great deal & yummy tacos.
Was in town for business. Stopped by here out of convenience. I could see this as a nice meet up spot to grab a drink with friends. Ambiance and service were great. I ordered the ceviche. It was terrible. For one, the presentation, although creative, was not functional for consumption. It did taste old. Not, going bad old. But, maybe made a day or two prior. The shrimp was chewy and gray.
Finally, I got around to checking out their 99-cent taco Tuesday. Definitely did not disappoint. Tried a few different ones, but the barbacoa was the best. The chips and salsa were great as well. Service, music, and vibe were perfect for a little lunch. Definitely will be back.
The food is different yet delicious. The basics are done well at this location, thanks to our local Ventura County region including a huge number of immigrants primarily of Latino descent working behind the closed doors of the restaurant's kitchen. If you're looking for fresh Mexican food at a good price with excellent flavor, generous portions, and a wild design job, this is the place to.go check out in Simi Valley at the Simi Valley Town Center, top of First Street,
My experience was absolutely incredible I cannot say enough about this new location. The manager was extremely attentive to us and our entire visit made sure to come and check in with us several times went over and beyond to make us feel completely welcomed. My dear friend Oscar is like a wildfire everything he touches ignites ... He was previously at the North Hollywood location and of course I had to come over and see his magic in the new Simi Valley location. To my surprise when I arrived I saw some of The Valley's best servers including Kevin and Yair . They are very well known in the San Fernando Valley and in the entire 818 area code as being top-notch Managers Servers Mixologist and just well-rounded Host ... The food and the buffet were amazing They have the largest traditional MexicanFood Variety from breakfast to tacos guizados seafood and everything in between The atmosphere is lively with A Mariachi There to play all of your traditional music .. It is only a 15 minute drive from The Valley 25 minutes from downtown LA take the drive and come and see for yourself you will not be disappointed..
This place is great the food is amazing!! The art and the musiic is beautiful.. Everyone there is so nice and the service is always on point. Taco tuesdays!! And their sushi is sooooo gooood 😊
The food is great and friendly service. Our server Kevin went above and beyond for our party. The Al Pastor and barbacoa were excellent. Been to other locations but this one has the best food.
We went there for the Sunday Brunch and the food was great.
Tasty tacos! Came here with my family recently for taco Tuesday, workers were friendly and attentive.
The vibes and atmosphere topped with excellent food and service (can’t remember my servers name— but will update when I find out! Tall, brunette Latino male that could pass for a model!) make for a 10 out of 10 experience!!! We had an amazing time celebrating my co-workers resignation, will definitely be back!
Louisa was our server. Very big party for a 10 year old. Adults and children. There was so much happening but Louisa was on it and everyone works together to make the best experience. Food was fantastic. The birthday boy was super happy and i can’t say enough good things about Louisa. So sweet and accommodation, knowledgeable and went out of her way to help us. Thank you for your service. Love this place. So fun for parties. I might note, i don’t drink and still loved the experience. Thank you everyone especially Louisa!!
Everything we ate was fresh and delicious! The staff was super attentive and nice, everyone working really showed they cared. The margaritas were fresh and tasty as well. I recommend the pepino con chile margarita if you like a little spicy. The aguachiles and spinach empanadas were excellent starters. The whole place was like a big party, with fun fancy music and a kind of party time atmosphere. I couldn't help but dance the whole time, i love me some Bad Bunny. I can't wait to come back to try some more options!
Went here with my sister for a Saturday night out (which in Simi is hard to do) and this place did not disappoint. I got the chamoyada margarita which was incredible! Loved the the mild spice mixed with the sweet mango; bliss. Then had the ceviche, nachos and the chicharron tacos. If there is one thing on this menu that you must try, it’s those tacos. It did have an LA-feel with the love music and shifting lights, so if that’s not your scene I’d recommend giving this place a go on a week night or during the lunch hours. Hands down, will be coming back.
Tonight our food and drinks were delicious and our server Francisco was amazing! All the staff that helped us was very friendly and worked together as a team! We will be back for sure.
I was the for the grand opening, it was a 2 hour wait to be seated for a party of 12. It was well worth it, the food is great, the drinks are great, we had about 10 pitchers, tried every flavor, and the service was awesome. Rodrigo, our server, had a good understanding of what we needed and was on top of needs. The environment was great, but it also depends on the group of people you go with. Highly recommend this place and party to your expectations.
Best Mexican food restaurant. They offer a lot of cultural dishes and can happily say this is a real authentic Mexican restaurant and with great quality and attention to detail. It’s hard to find a good Mexican restaurant but this one is definitely one of the best.
Kalaveras definitely did not disappoint. I ran into Jose and Edgar in Target on Sunday, they invited my family and co-workers to join them for their soft opening. I had empanadas as an appetizer, green enchiladas, and carne Asada tacos for my entree. I wanted to make sure I tried a couple of items. All were really great! To drink, I ordered the Margarita flight and it was really good. The kids indulged and ordered desert. Rodrigo was our server, he was on top of everything with our party of 10. Edgar, Jose, and Rodrigo, thank you! We will absolutely be back. Simi, This is the next hot spot. Sorry, no pictures of my food. I just killed my food as soon as it the table.
The food is fantastic. Yhe drinks are fantastic. The service is fabtastic. The decor is cool for what it is. It follows the newer trend in Mexican restaurants of neon signs, gray tone paints, and some pop culture art. I definitely prefer the old dark booths and black velvet look, but that's just me, I'm old lol.
I absolutely loved my experience at this Mexican restaurant! The food was bursting with authentic flavor, and the service was so friendly and attentive. What really made it special was the vibrant atmosphere – the black lights gave such a cool, almost otherworldly glow to the incredible calavera artwork throughout the space. It was festive, unique, and added such a fun energy to the whole dining experience. Definitely a must-visit!
Good food. Good service. GREAT KARAOKE Nina was a great server and bar tender
My brother and I enjoyed our little lunch break here. We saw that they had a sign for Taco Tuesdays 🌮 out front so we stopped in. Figured neither of us had that much of a lunch earlier, so this would make up for it. Got pretty much our choice of a table as we picked a good time to come in. Not busy at all! Friendly staff and the atmosphere was nice. TVs for the watching the sports. Food was good! I did notice many other reviewers complaining about the loud music. My sister who went here for dinner just a couple of weeks ago said the same thing. But when we were there, it seemed OK to us. It wasn’t loud at all. Maybe they turn it down for lunchtime and turn it up for dinner. 🤷🏻♀️ Either way, management should know they’re getting a lot of complaints about it. Tacos are $1.49 on Tuesdays. I definitely would go back to try their other entrees.
My first time here and it's really good! The service was quick! I ordered the dragon roll and my husband ordered the albondigas. Delicious!
A cousins' lunch on a Tuesday afternoon, which coincided with Taco Tuesday and the drinks happy hour too. Really good service and good food to go with. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We'll certainly be going back.
@therealcaseykeith and I stopped here to eat lunch and it was surprisingly fantastic and not so expensive. It is definitely a bar atmosphere, however, the food is top-notch and I'm very picky. Check out the pictures. Have a great day. Thanks for the service and thanks for the meal. It was good!
Me and wife were here in Simi Valley and came across the restaurant on 4/17/2024 .We decided to go in for lunch and give it a try and I'm glad we did .We got seated right away and had the best waitress by the name of Chelsea who gave me options on what to order great personality. I ordered Ceviche which was delicious and also a Carnitasada Mojado style burrito with a Modelo Michealda delicious. My wife ordered the lunch special 2 tacos 🌮 we loved this place .I asked to speak to the Manager to leave a good feedback on out Waitress we were lucky to get greeted by the owner himself Jose who happened to be a great person himself .We will definitely be back .
The place is a little loud but the atmosphere is pretty nice. I went on a Saturday for dinner and it was very busy (30min wait min). The drinks are delicious and the food was pretty good. Had the molcajete which is appropriate size for two. Even though the place was very busy, the kitchen was on top of it! Service was great but communication between employees could be improved. It is still fairly new so it's understandable. Prices are a little on the high side but are fair for the overall experience.
The place is a little loud but the atmosphere is really nice. Service was great an the food was great too. It was our son's birthday and they brought a shot of Tequila and a fountain candle which was awesome. But we didn't realize they charged for the Tequila.
This location is one of the best the food is delicious and the service is amazing
Really beautiful atmosphere, very friendly staff, and exquisite food. Our server, Kevin, was so sweet, attentive and gave us some great recommendations. My sister and I were dying to try this place and they did not disappoint! Bottled Mexican cokes, taquitos dorados, quesabirria tacos, and carne asada! Definitely coming again.
I stopped by this Kalaveras to take advantage of their happy hour. When I came, they were not busy at all. There was tons of parking spots near the front and barely any other guest inside. I sat at the bar area so I could watch the soccer game playing. I got the spicy buffalo wings from the happy hour menu. I think it's a great deal because you get eight bone in buffalo wings. They also give chips and salsa as complimentary. I like the chips and salsa, it had a nice spice to it. My buffalo wings came out quick and it was good to me. When I sat at the bar, the bartender used a fly zapper swatter to get the small flies around the bar area. It would discourage some guest but it didn't bother me. The customer service I received here was great, I didn't have any issues when I was dining at the restaurant. There was no loud music that Kalaveras is known for when I was there but it could be because they save it for the night time.
Kalaveras could easily be mistaken for a soulless chain restaurant that is all style and no substance. But it delivers so much more. The atmosphere is loud. Like a club, they're always banging reggaeton music, and screaming birthday shots of tequila is not an uncommon occurrence. You can definitely come to Kalaveras to get loud and have a great night. But don't sleep on the food. The salsas are delicious and fresh. All the menu items we've tried have been really nice, like they're coming from a much more intimate kitchen. I particularly like the enmoladas which are pleasantly complex in flavor. Kalaveras is definitely worth stopping in for a fun evening.
Our bartender Nina was amazing. Friendly, easy to talk to, and made great drinks! Service was quick and they made us feel very welcome the entire time. We’ll definitely be back!

Went for the brunch. It's from 9-2 on Sundays. The service was really slow, especially considering brunch is a self serve buffet. So the only thing the waiters have to do is serve drinks. So the bottomless mimosas aren't really worth it considering you're waiting a long time between refills. But the food was good, ambiance was great, good place for a bday party.
Been a couple of times now and food and service has always been great. Yes, it's very loud, but a fun environment. The first couple of times, sports were on the TV and music in background which was all good. However, we were there last night and the music videos were not family friendly. I'm not easily offended, but if I had been there with young children, I would have been horrified. I saw someone else said something about the videos a month ago, but it appears that it's still happening. Perhaps maybe play those videos later on in the evening when the clientele is older and they're more for a party vibe rather than a dining experience.
First timers. A little dark inside but aren't most these days. The new chicken mole enchilada was tasty. Plenty of chicken and sauce, served with rice. Hubby had the harty barbacoa dish with rice and beans, wirh flour tortillas. We both came home with leftovers. Would go back again to try a different dish.
its a bit loud not easy to hear people across from you without raising your voices. but well worth the deliciously prepared food i dont think the waiters can hear your requests very well from music being loud. try taco tuesday 😋 so many flavors to choose from for 1.49each and sunday buffet for about 40bucks a person is amazing large assortments fully available food choices fresh tacos 🌮 fresh omelets fresh made pasta dishes 😋 i dont speak spanish and all tvs and music are tuned to well...
Really fun vibe. Good service. Good specials. Food was pretty good but over priced, however each dish/taco did have a good portion of meat. Would definitely come back for a fun dinner with friends or a date, but not necessarily to get the best mexican food around.
Just broke down and tried this spot. $1 taco Tuesday! I couldn't resist. The bartender was good and prompt. I tried all the meats. Asada and chicken were good and tender. Barbacoa was my favorite. Carnitas were just ok, pastor was well flavored but a little tough. Chicharron sauce was not my fav, tender tho. Would have been a better review if the manager did not spray bug spray under the bar while 8 of us were eating. My last few tacos seemed tainted by the smell. Seriously?!
The food was SO good! I ordered a grilled chicken lunch special and it was way more then I expected! So many flavors 😋 I will definitely be going back!
When we checked in, the host said the wait time was 30 minutes. We waited for over 45 minutes to be seated, then waited for over 15 minutes to have the waitress take our drink order. The waitress was nice, but she did not acknowledge nor greet us, until it was time for her to take our drink order. There were alot of staff members just standing around that could had helped the waitresses. Thankfully, the food and drinks were good. It was a bit too loud in there, but the music was great.
Met friends here after church service. They go often; it was my first time. The restaurant was not crowded. The staff was nice & the food was good. Two friends got the fried beef toast with au jus. The other had shrimp tacos & I had the house salad with beef. We also ordered Guacamole for the table.
I’ve been to Kalaveras a couple of times now and the food is quite good, but definitely on the higher side price wise. I realize that they have created more of an elevated twist on classic Mexican cuisine and I appreciate that and they do have some unique dishes like the pasta à la diavolo that is delicious. The queso fundido is very good too. I can’t recall whether they gave us tortilla chips the first time I went but we didn’t receive any on our most recent visit and it is pretty disappointing not to get any chips or salsa at this type of restaurant, especially for this price point.
The food was exceptionally delicious, with a plethora of good flavors and great sauces, presented in an appetizing manner. The establishment is very elegant and nice. However, the service, while polite, was merely adequate and lacked a personal touch. A welcoming greeting, such as inquiring about the day or occasion, would have set a positive tone. Unfortunately, the restroom had a bad odor, and the sight of a cook in uniform failing to wash his hands after using the urinal was off-putting. Despite this, I will return, hoping for an improved experience.

I love taco Tuesday there. The street tacos are really yummy and the food comes out pretty quickly. The down fall is, you wait for refills on your drinks, no napkins or silverware at the table and the waiters don't really seem to come by often once your food is set down. I finished my margarita and waited for about 10 minutes before someone sloshed by our table, so I did not have another. Asked for the check, that came quickly and returned quickly. The waiter is very nice, but should walk by the tables a little bit more. Taco Tuesday is only $1.49 per taco so it is definitely a steel! The music was hip hop style mostly in Spanish which is fine because it is a cantina. It feels like this place should be off the hook, but there seems to be something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it, but maybe the wait staff could be a little more outgoing.

Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was very good as was the selection. Why at 9am on Sunday do you have to play the music SO LOUD !!!!!. When the live music arrives the only way to talk and be heard is to YELL. You guys need to tone it down 9am isn't bar time - save the loud music for the late crowd that is to looking to party. I am going to send this suggestion to your corporate office. Really can't recommend this place for Sunday Brunch like it is.
The service and vibe was great. The foods presentation was great but the entrees were not great. Rice and beans were good. I love authentic Mexican food and was super disappointed to eat here. This place is probably a good spot for drinks and apps but I won’t be coming for dinner again.
First, the food is good. But the high volume, electronic, banging music is too much for the 60+ clientele. Also, my adult son has autism and he was really uncomfortable there. We sat on the patio, which is a little bit better, but my son had to go sit on the bench outside. By the end of dinner, I had a banging headache.
It was pretty good. The food was good, but overpriced. The drinks were also good although not very strong and again very overpriced. I am all about it for a once off, but $200 for drinks and dinner at a mexican restaurant (we had 8 girls and with tip the bill was $500 for appetizers and 2 drinks each) just isn't going to happen on a regular basis. Definitely going to check out happy hour specials though. Cool vibe.
Food is definitely above average but so are the prices. Drinks are very good. I had the albondigas soup. Tasty but a little oily and salty. Was a big bowl for $14.00, but only had two meatballs. Their taco Tuesday special on tacos were $3.00. Not bad, but I find the food a little bland compared to the more authentic places.
Went for drinks & arrived in time for happy hour. Ordered the Margarita Flight, quesa birria tacos and nachos. Presentation was great! Food was great! I liked one of the four margaritas (guava). Ended up ordering an Horchata Colada to drink instead and it was delicious. My party planned to leave before the DJ was scheduled to start (8:30), but he started a little before 8pm, and it was loud, so we rushed to leave.
The food was pretty good, the service was OK, yet the atmosphere was quite loud in there. It was kind of hard to hear others at the table right next to you.
New place...this place use to be Islands Restaurant. Everything was super good. From the start, fresh chips, and salsa. My menudo was real good. My Modelo was super cold. And my barbacoa taco...excellent. Good way to start a business....I highly recommend 👌 11/1/24 This place started out fine, but now this place gas gone down the shitter. Portions have dramatically been reduced, and the service is so slow. What happened to this place...I don't know 🤔
This is an exciting new venue that we visited during its grand opening, as it offered a unique experience. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, and while it can get a bit noisy, many would find it enjoyable. The drinks are quite good, although the food was just satisfactory; it could be that our selections didn’t fully showcase the menu. If you prefer a quieter environment, this might not be the ideal choice for you. However, the lively ambiance makes it a fun spot to visit, especially with their $1 Taco Tuesdays, which is definitely a great deal!
Just run of the mill food and service. The drinks on happy hour are lacking alcohol.

The food was delicious. The service was okay because they were too busy jumping on servers back and waving the kalavera ( seem like every 20 mins) so of course the server is busy. Not waiting on his/her table. Extremely loud the DJ music can’t talk need to raise your voice and then sometimes you still can’t hear!!!!!
We chose this restaurant to eat and listen to mariachi music, as advertised, on Su days. 11am 1-2 pm but there was no mariachi. We felt like we were tricked.
This place had such potential, but the first time we went we had horrible service, everything was super slow, they forgot to bring drinks, it was one thing after another. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back a second time. Second time, exact same issue, horrible service, and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, all the wait staff seems to disappear into the kitchen, and you never see them again. The third time we went, same issue, horrible service, and that night the food was not up to par. But we went this last Tuesday night for a special occasion with family. When we arrived, it was not crowded at all, yet it took three asks from a waitress to get a glass of water and it took almost 20 minutes to get the one margarita that I ordered while no one was at the bar. Our food was delivered and we had no napkins or silverware. I cannot understand how this place has such bad service.
Music blasted throughout our meal accompanied by the bench seats vibrating due to heavy base from the speakers. There were lots of drunk patrons leaving the restaurant. This was last minute decision. The vibe felt like a Night club serving below average overpriced Mexican food followed by below average service. The female server did not even stop by to check on us. Interior: Black walls with lots of neon graphic of scribbles and drawing of skulls. It felt like a large square space with no walls. There are lots of well planned design dinning/bar establishments to explore. Food: Let's say everything was extremely sour and salty in replacement of flavor. The price was high up there. My plate took 10 minutes? The Nacho plate was not tasty, overloaded with green and white extremely sour sauce...no cheese. Overall, the ingredients were low quality but they try hard on the presentation by placing heavy loads of julienne carrots and onions on top. Parking: Extremely available during the weekdays and weekends.
The food was delicious but the staff and the atmosphere tonight was awful. The music was so loud I couldn't hear the people sitting next to and across from me. We asked politely if it was possible to turn it down just a little. It just got louder. It seemed to us that the person we had asked also mocked us by going into the kitchen, pointing toward us, then laughing with coworkers. I like a good club atmosphere. I love dance music. When eating dinner though its nice to be able talk to the people I'm with. I could understand if it was a Friday or a Saturday and the place was packed but it was Thursday and not that busy. The server was nice enough but he didn't follow through. He also brought food with cheese on it even though I stated I was allergic. Then took it from our table and comped the item to the table next to us and told them why. They thanked us. He never offered a drink refill. We ate at this restaurant not long after opening. It was not like this which is why we came back. We won't be back.
Good food, cool vibe, music too loud, kinda pricey, below average service, horrible management. I got the shrimp tacos, they were good and filling. At the end of the night, my friend's credit card didn't come back with the paid bill, he notified the waitress and she asked for his name and number "if" the card turns up. If!?!?!. 15-20 minutes later and constant researches of the booth, our pockets and the floors, they realized they accidentally gave it to another table, no apologies, no nothing. Not their card, not their problem I guess. At a place of this quality I would expect more, an apology, a sense of urgency or reassurance they are doing the best they can to locate the card. Think about other nice restaurants, would they have reacted the same? I think not. The food was good tho, that's why it's a 2 star. I gotta be honest.
I was there for happy hour and margarita Monday. The happy hour prices are not valid anymore. The margarita came in a small glass, but was good. The service was not overall attentive, but it was good. The food was good as well. 20$ for a cheese quesadilla and a small margarita on margarita Monday during happy hour is just not to give more then 2 stars. New restaurant, the hipe will calm down and sooner or later there will be a new name on the building, unless the arrogance changes.
My boyfriend and I have been here a few times bcuz the food is good and The drinks are worth the money. But a few days ago we decided we would not be back. The staff is not particularly friendly . The waiters are nice when taking your order. But the overall service in the place is just LOUSY!! EVERY-SINGLE-TIME. Maybe they make more of an effort for the evening customers or for those who come on the weekend. Not sure! Hope so ! We have only dined there during the day and early evening . And we are pretty easy going and kind. And, No unusual requests . No demands. And we tip more than the usual. So it’s not us . We gave it a good 4 x’s And It NEVER got any better . In fact it got worse! So as good as the food was or the drinks. If your service stinks the other stuff doesn’t matter!! There are other Restraunt s who have good food and better drinks and WAY BETTER service!! We won’t be back to this one!!!
My server was not interested in helping us she did the minimum, which was taking our order and never came back to check up on us. I had to ask for our check and wait for her to be done dancing before i could pay. Didn't get any other drinks other than what we order in the beginning. Our server was definitely more interested in hanging out with her coworkers. Very poor experience and I won't be back. It's so loud couldn't enjoy our date. Plus the bad customer service from server. The guy that cleaned our table was cool and more attentive than our server.
Food is good but overpriced for the portions and the service is lacking. It will take about half an hour to get your food after ordering, if you're lucky, and that's not even when they're busy. Check your orders, especially if they are to-go. I don't think we've ever received a correct order. Last order was missing a side of rice and that was after we had to ask them to remake another side where they added cheese and beans to rice when we just wanted rice. They gave me the wrong entree too. This happens almost every time! Do NOT go after 9pm unless you want your eardrums blown out by ridiculously loud mariachi music. It was impossible to have a conversation. It's like trying to eat in the middle of a club dance floor, literally at times. This was our last time going there. It's just not worth it.
Went for the Sunday brunch because we had never been there and wanted to try something new. Let me just say that it was a total waste of money! The food was mediocre at best and they didn’t have a good variety and it looks like the food was left out and nothing fresh came out the whole time we were there. The staff was awkward as they sat us and then our server and the hostess disappeared and when we left we found them sitting by the doorway talking about a party they were going to! So needless to say my family was pretty disappointed in this. I will not be going back as I am a one and done kinda person.
I’ve lived in Simi my whole life and this place won’t last maybe another year. Went for taco Tuesday and try this place out for the first time and it definitely will be the last. The MUSIC WAS INCREDIBLY LOUD. The waitress had trouble hearing our order and my husband and I sat right next to each other so we could hear ourselves talk. We did want to try this place and it was late, but our first thought was wanting to leave as soon as possible because it wasn’t an enjoyable dining experience. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. We asked to see the manager, and we expressed our concerns to him and I emphasized that I believe that’s the theme of this restaurant to be loud, so be it but we would never return for that simple reason. He was very nice and did lower the music quite a bit. After talking to the waitress, she informed us that it’s a common complaint and after reading the reviews, I see that. The tacos were good and very reasonably priced but honestly, I won’t return just because of the loud music. If you were out dancing, I could understand, but typically people who dine with others want to have a conversation and not have to shout.

I called, they said they closed at 10pm so I made a reservation for nine. When we got there at nine, they said they were closed and refused to seat us. Then they told us that there were fruit flies and they had an exterminator coming. They had the infestation all week. I don’t know about the other locations, but this location has pretty bad management and apparently an infestation.
The food was okay, our server was great. The music was WAY TOO LOUD!!! Ruined the experience. Couldn't even have a conversation with the person next to you!!! Also somewhat expensive. I won't be going back!!! Other more hospitable Mexican food places in town.
Had a great time for a 21st birthday, but my other friend got treated like crap for his bday bc he ordered dessert instead of drinks :/ Also they close earlier than their stated time, and I even called ahead of time and the lady who answered lied and said their kitchen and bar closed at 9:30 (and it says 10pm on the door) but when I came to the door at 8:50pm it was locked.
Went in to pickup an order for delivery. Order wasnt even started even though it was not busy at all. The man prepping the food was eating off a customers prepped food tray. Totally not cool. Monday night around 720pm
Went here on Wednesday for a Business Lunch. I had their Carne Asada plate. My host had a Carnitas plate. I’d say it was ok, and a bit overpriced for a lunch! The waitress was not very attentive and forgot to bring out the rice and beans. We got it about 15 minutes after the other stuff was served. The guacamole was about a whopping half an ounce, if that. Asked for a little more, but was forced to buy a side for $12. Actually the taste of their salsa and guacamole were both pretty bland. Even at lunch the place was noisy. Not good for a meeting. I doubt I will be rushing back! That is… Unless my banker is treating, again!
Horrible, horrible, horrible, if I could give it a 5 star negative I would. The service is terrible. The food was horrible my second time. There never going back.Same thing the first time around, Now the Kalaveras in Northridge, much better. Don't bother wasting your time, your money. It was creepy icky food in Simi.
I went to this place for the first time ever with my family and I order 3 drinks and food. This place is a rip off and shitty attitude don’t go here. Horrible experience they messed with the prices of the drinks and charged me 300 for 3 drinks I feel so cheated. And I asked for a manager and he didn’t even do nothing he said this is what it is and walked away. I was so upset and I will never go back shame on them for stealing money from people one drink price is the price of the bottle how crazy is that! Unreal this is robbery. I can’t believe for lunch I spent 500 for 2 meals and 3 drinks that is insane. And they put tip automatic the waitress kept saying I can make it a double so she can get more tip. Worst attitude from waitress and manager horrible place to go to never again.
