The food was great, I had the cowboy chicken fried steak honestly this could have fed 2 to 3 people it came with 3 eggs home fries and a side of biscuits and gravy my sister had the fried chicken and waffles that also came with eggs I should have taken pictures beforehand but couldn't wait to dig in they have an amazing menu and the service is awesome....This is a truly a treasure and must try if you want to try a new spot they are open until 3pm

I've been coming to Penfold's for breakfast once a month or so for about 25 years now. There's a reason for that: this place is great. The food is amazing, the staff is always super friendly, and the price is right. I can't recommend Penfold's enough.

We randomly picked this place for breakfast hoping it to be good. It turned out great. We were seated within minutes and served immediately. The place had a nice atmosphere and the service was pretty good too. The server got the extras needed for breakfast even without us asking for it, that was quite efficient. I liked the food too. We had ordered omelet without cheese and waffle. The omelet was made very nicely with no extra oil or cheese, which felt really good.

This place has been in town for decades. Great friendly well staffed service. Fun family atmosphere. Food is always good! You should try it.

Very nice old fashioned dinner 😍

After decades of knowing this place existed, we finally decided to stop in and check it out. I'm over the moon happy that we did. The food was incredible, honestly, the best I've had out in quite a while. Our server, Leah, was an absolute gem. She was informative, helpful, and had zero problem with spending a little time explaining the menu, or just shooting the breeze for a second. I ordered the Giant Cinnamon Roll French Toast (by Leah's advice), and actually did a happy dance in my seat 💕 I honestly can't say enough about how awesome our experience was this morning. After having a tough morning already, it was a breath of fresh air. Thank you to EVERYONE at Penfold's, you guys made it absolutely amazing.

Breakfast here is phenomenal and the portions are fairly large. Having tried the giant cinnamon roll, the Captain crunch french toast, the biscuits and gravy, and the Nova Scotia eggs Benedict, the wide variety of food they serve here will keep me coming back.

Wow, Really.....this place is simply amazing found this by chance, my son was competing in a wrestling tournament at Temecula valley HS down the street the chicken fried steak is the best I have ever had try the cowboy. Everything we have ordered has been wonderful I will continue to drive down from riverside at least once a month.

Absolutely great!! We highly recommend this place. The atmosphere, the great and fast service from the servers, specially Kiera! who was very attentive and friendly and of course the food! We had the Hollan Dazze omellette and the giant cinnamon french toast to share and it was delicious!! Tasty and huge portions! We will be back soon :)

Loved Penfold's Cafe!!! Absolutely amazing find. Clean restaurant EXTREMELY Friendly and attentive staff and the food portions are out of this world!! I met clients there and got a really fun dish called "The Mess". It's made eggs, hash browns, onions, spinach, mushrooms, peppers and ground beef all scrambled into one big "Mess" and topped with Jack , Cheddar cheese and salsa. The baked goods though is where it's at! They had quite possibly the largest Cinnamon roll I've ever seen in my life! All so delicious too! So if you're in the Temecula area be sure and give them a try. Very highly recommended!!!

We were looking for a good place to have breakfast on a recent visit to the Temecula area and we found Penfold's while walking from our Hotel to the Old Town area. We decided to have breakfast here. I had an omelet and my wife some simple bacon and eggs, some biscuits and gravy and a couple of coffees. The food was delicious and service was excellent. We were happy to have found this restaurant. We will be back when visiting Temecula. Highly recommended

As of right now, this is my favorite place to eat in Temecula. Comfort food and breakfast galore. Everything tastes amazing. Even a simple bowl of oatmeal. I’ve had eggs, waffles, sausage, etc. so much to choose from. They even have a neat gift shop. Staff is nice and the place is clean. Will be eating here again.

Came here for the first time on our way to a spa day. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Sat at the bar because it was crowded, but that was the best spot because we got to see all the delicious food being ordered. Ordered Ortega omelette with ham and avocado, veggie omelette with Hollandaise sauce and chicken fried steak breakfast. Staff was super friendly. Brought out a huge cinnamon role with candles for our friend. Made you feel like home. Shout out to our waitress who's turning 60 on 7/24🙂. Best of all, they have mimosas🍾🥂🍾.

The place was super busy but we were seated right away. The servers were all nice and attentive. I got the machaca superb which is grilled bell peppers and onion and egg with shredded beef on a plate with homestyle salsa, guacamole and tortillas. Hubby got the giant cinnamon roll French toast with hash browns. It came with a steak knife if that tells you anything about the size of it. Everything was really yummy and the portions were huge. And of course we got a giant pecan sticky bun to go. I would definitely recommend and if I'm back in the area I would definitely go back.

Gotta say, think their pastries are a tad bit more worth the visit over the food. They didn't have a particular type of omelet ingredient but offered to have a choice of any other omelet. Chose the chorizo omelet, it was, eh? Coffee was good but only had vanilla creamer. The mimosa was strong, mixed with a little cranberry, it was great. Water tastes tap. Another choice they gave over toast was a blueberry muffin. Couldn't have a pancake, so figure we'd try it.....and wow! Won me over. Couldn't imagine what their infamous giant cinnamon buns taste like. The restaurant inside has an old-school trucker stop vibe from the 90s, but we liked it. Felt like home. Felt personalable. Can't help but want to support the hometown small businesses, and this is another restaurant worth stopping in on n giving that support over the Dennys right across the street. Try it out

Tried this place for the first time today, and it was good. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy. I highly recommend the Cinnamon roll. it's big, so make sure you share. My wife said the Arnold Palmers are really good. I tried the multi grain pancakes, and my son got the French Toast breakfast sandwich, and my wife got the burger. The food and service were great, I definitely recommend this place.

Wow such an amazing atmosphere and food. I love the jellycat collection it is so cute 😍. They have diet Dr pepper which is very uncommon for restaurants. I got the cinnamon roll French toast and it was the size of my head. It was super good but after I ate like half of it it started getting really dry but I don't think it's intended to eat the whole thing. The restaurant was very fun inside the had a Bob's big boy statue and it was so fun to visit. Definitely recommend!

Place is always super good. Customer service wasnt as good as other times. Our waitress seems a little bothered when we asked her for more napkins and some other stuff. Luckily the supervisor or manager on duty came by and we were able to ask her for the stuff we needed. But overall the food was great like always. Penfold's is an adorable family owned/operated diner at the edge of Old Town Temecula. Stepping in and looking around at all the decor takes you back to another era! There's a carousel horse, vintage lunch boxes, toys and a big old gumball machine! We stopped in for a late Saturday morning breakfast recently. While they were fairly full, we were greeted and seated right away. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. We ordered the Penfold omelette and a tuna melt. I love tuna melts but the quality and taste of tuna salad varies so widely among diners/restaurants - many times, there's way too much mayo for my taste. Penfold's tuna salad was great, with just the right amount of seasoning and mayo. The sourdough bread was very thick and I ended up eating it open-faced, and there was only the tiniest amount of cheese which was ok for me. But overall, the great taste of the tuna salad and the super crisp fries, made it a winner meal. My husband loved his omelette and crispy home fries. He asked for the country gravy on the side just to try it. It didn't look very appetizing (a sad, pale color)...and wasn't, so he relied on ketchup instead! Our waitress Leah was very attentive and pleasant. When we were checking out, it was fun to see the crazy gigantic cinnamon and sticky buns in the front case that look like they'd feed an entire family. Super reasonably priced, too! This was a sweet diner with good food and great service. We'll definitely be back!

Heard good things about Penfold"s Cafe so tried for myself and was happy I did, I enjoyed the chicken enchilada omelette with hashbrowns and a side of pancakes, good portions and decent prices. Waitress was very happy and friendly, going back to try more of the menu Plenty to choose from. Atmosphere was kool with the old time toys and everything else made for an enjoyable breakfast.

This is a great breakfast place to try if you're ever in the area. They have both Old school diner options and more modernized options as well. The bakery is amazing, you can see all the baked goods displayed on your way in! Everyone is very friendly and it's a very welcoming vibe. We tried the penfold omelette, biscuits and gravy, French toast and avocado toast! The bloody Marys were Great, highly recommend them all! The only complaint I would have is having to wait! It's that kind of place so good all the locals go there! But the 25 minute wait was worth it!

The food was typical American diner food. It seemed that they cooked the food with and served lard on top of the cinnamon buns, which was interesting. The OJ seemed fresh squeezed, but the food was definitely underwhelming. The service wasn't bad, but they could have checked on us more often. The food also took a while to come out.

Classic bland boomer food where they used canned ingredients over fresh ingredients. For comparison I got and omlette two days in a row for breakfast. The one I got from iHop had fresh vegetables, peppers, tomatoes, onions and was folded perfectly. The one I got from Penfolds cost more used canned/jarred vegetables jalapenos, tomatos and looked like someone puked eggs on my plate. Also this may have been the only dinner I have been too that had no smell of food when walking in and very little scent when eating. Overall bland and not great for the price

I gave it a three to be nice. I wouldn't eat lunch there again. My chicken tostada salad was not worth the price. The chicken tasted and looked like it came from a processed loaf and was salty. There was very little shredded cheese on it and there was a lot of iceberg lettuce... No sour cream or avocado or black olives. The salsa was ok. The tostada shell wasn't crispy at all and tasted old. The beans were the best part. Totally not worth the price. The people there were nice so I gave it an extra star. Place was busy. I'll try the breakfast if I ever go back.

What I like is the various of the menu and service was quite good. It's near old town so that was why we stopped and try the place.

The seafood omelette is more of spinach than seafood. If it says seafood omelette then it should be all seafood. The most expensive in the menu that your charging is more of spinach .

This place is more like Denny’s, salmon Benedict was one of the worst I have tried in California, soggy English muffin very average potatoes, pre- soaked, overcooked frozen spinach and prices were high . So many better locations in Temecula to choose from if you love good food I don’t recommend here.

Very disappointed with nova Scotia Benedict. I'm not sure what muffins they used but it was very soggy, the hollandaise sauce is foamy and no taste. If wasn't for the spinach and the smoked salmon the only thing I could eat from the plate. The eggs was poached ok thou

My first time going here. Not the best first impression but I will say that they seemed very apologetic so I'm thinking something kind of random happened. After so many years in the industry, I can understand. It happens. The manager came out before I even realized anything happened so that was a good sign to me. I ordered a bloody Mary but my food came out before the drink. Normally, I like my drink to be served before the food. So I was a little upset about that but like I said, the manager came out to ensure everything was OK. But then, the edges of my chicken fried steak were burnt. Also, I asked for a side of gravy and never got that. Another server helped out and brought my entree out for her but she waited until she brought my food to ask if I wanted salt and pepper. When I asked for snp and Tabasco, I'm sitting there waiting as I'm chasing flies away from my food that's sitting there getting cold. She brings out 2 little packets of salt and 2 of pepper. Those pepper packs have such a small pinch of pepper I had to ask for more. The manager was there and saw her bring out the plate with snp on it. He acted surprised for me. It seemed nice at first but now, in retrospect, I feel like he was trying to soften the mistake but really didn't care much. I say this because he asked me if the chicken fried steak was OK. I took the first bite and it was burnt. I told him. He said..."here let me get you another one..." and left. He never returned. The gravy was OK. I couldn't quite tell if it was canned gravy or homemade so I guess that's good that I couldn't tell?? It was thick and creamy so I guess that's all that matters but the chicken fried steak did seem homemade because the breading was falling off while I was cutting it. Which is good because that tells me it's homemade but bad because they didn't prepare it correctly. I think the steak was just a little over fried. Which is evident because it was burnt. The plate of biscuits was huge. Couldn't finish though. The home fries served were lifeless. Very drab and wilted. I do feel I got off to a bad foot from the beginning but the food did not make up for the problems so it's 2 star for me

I went to Penfold’s Cafe & Bakery because so many good people could not say enough good things about the place. Always the curiosity of what if this place is a good place? 4 Stars among reviewers is not a shabby score, and look at the size of some of those bakery items! Big generous portions to be sure! I said to my tribe, let’s just concentrate on the Bakery side of this place. Arrive early enough to guarantee freshness and availability, what do you say? A unison yes, and we drove from Menifee, about 15 minutes drive, and I bought a few bakery items, to the tune of almost $20. Another family member spent another $20? Between the both of us, and what was on display at the time, we pretty much picked what was available. Went back home, made gourmet coffee, and proceeded to try the goodies, which were no good. No skills, mediocre quality, big does not count when finesse is not present, so Penfold bakery side turned out to be, besides the unhealthy aspects of a huge roll covered with melted sugar, and some overly expensive other items, a not so great bakery. Dry, poorly prepared by whomever is in charge of baking. Very seldom we throw purchased bakery items away, but this time we did it, for the other option was to consume something that was clearly disappointing. I am assuming the food is a little better? Let’s hope so, in the very remote case someday we venture in. Not all bakeries are created equal, that’s for sure! 2 Stars. Went back after about 3 years. The first visit was only to buy several baked items. Was a fiasco, but having seen the place from the inside, and reading many encouraging reviews, it took us a while, but we arrived hungry for breakfast on a Thursday around 11AM. The place takes a prize for their vastly decorated establishment. Service was adequate, place looked about 60 crowded. Food ordered: Eggs Benedict Penfold, $12.95. Eggs very runny, sauce average, potatoes arrived looking past their prime, one third consumed. Not spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but decent enough. 3.5 Stars. Chicken Fried Steak Cowboy size, $14.95. Decent size, but not shockingly so. Soft enough, seasoning in the bland side, hash browns way past crunchy, biscuits and gravy easy to eat. Gravy no Southern masterpiece, but was consumed zero troubles. 3.5 Stars. Our loveliest and oldest wanted light fare, had to go strictly sides. Two scrambled eggs and english muffin bare, very close to $9. Eggs arrived in a tea size plate, stepchild treatment, frankly not much to comment for our hungry senior, kind of forced to eat light, finished in record time. 3 Stars. Coffee no redeeming quality, expensive enough, weak and plain. 2 Stars. Lipton tea bags for two, hot water, not much to say. Bill over $52 with proper gratuity. 3.5 Stars.

Country fried steak was chewy and tough. biscuits n gravy was very good. coffee was fresh.

Went here with my wife which is hard because we have a lot of kids so we were hoping for a good experience. This place seemed to have decent reviews so we figured let’s try it. First we sat for about 10-15 minutes before the waitress said I’ll be with you in a minute I got something to do real quick. The service didn’t get better from there. So we had high hopes for the country Fried steak which is a favorite of ours. Well the eggs had 0 flavor, and I actually spit out my first bite of the steak into my napkin. My wife as well. It was disgusting and I don’t say that lightly. The manager did come over and offer other food, but we had no interest. We were both shocked honestly at the entire experience. Would not recommend.

I met a friend today at Penfolds for breakfast. I have had breakfast there numerous times and the food has gone from being good to terrible. I ordered a #6 ...French toast, sausage, and two eggs over easy. The French toast was barely brown and it was uncooked and soggy in the middle. The eggs were also wet, like they had been covered and steamed. They were cold. The sausage was ordinary. The coffee was good. The wait staff was fine. I have recommended Penfolds many times, but I think it is time to move on. A good reputation will only go so far. Anyone reading this should look elsewhere. There are many other options in the area where the food is better prepared and tasty.
