Snapper Jack's Thousand Oaks Reviews
Excellent food, great service. My only complaint is that it's easy to get to but hard to leave that strip mall.
Reasonable price, good food. Tortillas could be better, they just fall apart, not good for a burrito.
Love snapper Jack's! Steak fajita burrito with whole beans is my favorite. Try the green avocado sauce. Also the crispy fish tacos are great!
The best shrimp tacos around. The best fish tacos, the best carne asada tacos, the best chili verde burritos anywhere....... Need I go on?
We love Snapper Jack's as a great local taco shack. I love the Jack's Combo with a crispy taco shell and grilled chicken! Hits the spot every time!
The food is consistently fresh and delicious. Their shrimp taco salad is to die for and they give a generous amount of shrimp mushroom and avocados.
This place is delicious! Never been disappointed and I love the salsas. I always add on the California veggies to my buritto to take it to the next level
Conveniently located and has a great patio. A diverse menu with lots of tasty options and a good beer selection. Fantastic stop for a quick well priced bite.
Gotta love Snapper Jacks! Not what I would call mexican food. More like mexican-inspired surf style food. They execute it very well!
Food is so good. I had the vegetarian burrito. It was excellent.
Wonderful grilled fish tacos served in fried flour tortillas. There is also a salsa bar that has something for everyone.
Always delicious. Go to spot for tacos. Best salsa in Thousand Oaks. Food is always fresh and very friendly and helpful service.
Good food served quickly -- made to order. Large selection of made-in-house salsas and sauces, and horchata served here.
Luke Warren gave me an excellent recomendation for the battered shrimp taco and provided exceptional service.
Luke Warren was a stellar cashier and was very welcoming. Deserves a raise for sure.
Love the healthy options, especially the shrimp and quinoa. The Cancun burrito is unique and to die for! Miss the Spanish omelet.
Great chilled restaurant to enjoy good food and relax. Kitchen people and front people are super nice. Food is excellent and their salsa bar is authentic. Kid friendly!
Legit Fish Tacos worth a 30 mile drive from Los Angeles. And the burritos are next level; 2 meals easy. Don’t even get me started on the salsa -habanero is where it’s at, but the other varieties are just as tasty.
Some of the best tacos I've ever had. Staff are all super friendly, and the place has an awesome vintage surf vibe. Definitely visit if you're in the area and have some munchies.
Been here a few times, the different tacos are fantastic. The halibut were delicious. Staff is nice and helpful. Not cheap but not too pricey.
Excellent fish tacos! Very friendly staff as well and they get your order completed super quick too! Make sure to try their famous Shack Sauce.
Omg, so good. Get the crispy flour tortilla, steak. Their signature sauce is great. Been to the Camarillo location as well, both are awesome.
So soooo good. Love their fish tacos but everything is really good. The snapper jack sauce is amazing. Customer service was great.
Great....must have food.
The Jack's Combo with fried fish tacos is the best. Love the salsa bar. Always fresh, love the pico de gallo salsa, melon salsa, and the Jack's fish Taco sauces.
This person does not know what he or she is talking about. I have been eating at the Ventura location since they opened in 2000. If the tacos are "gross" then how can you explain Snapper Jacks Taco Shack receiving best FISH tacos in Ventura county and how they have expanded to three stores in 10 years. If anyone is considering going to Snapper Jacks, do NOT consider this persons review as a true reflection of their quality of food. Who takes time to bash a restaurant on the internet anyways? Tooooooo much time on their hands, not someone I would want to take advice from. Sorry Isaac, but you're wrong. Hope you enjoyed Del Taco.
Love this place! The shack sauce is so yummy
Delicious food, huge portions on the 2 item combo plate! Great quality meat in my chicken & steak tacos. Made 2 meals out of it or could split it with another person. The salsa bar is great too with lots of options from Mild to Hot, crema, tomatillo, cilantro, roasted tomato & more. Highly recommend & will definitely be back.
My first experience having fish tacos that were grilled that came with rice and beans was a great one! Everyone was friendly. Lots of seeding indoor and out. Very clean restaurant. Lots of variety that will make you happy! Stop on in. You won't regret it. I will be going back, for sure! 🌻🌻
No more 1 star reviews from me. All 5 from now on but I will be honest. This place is not what it used to be. $18 for chicken nachos and there is barely any chicken, no more ranchera sauce, and they won't sub one more guac if you don't want the sour cream. Charging sit down restaurant prices for fast food quality. This was my last time.
The food was excellent, service was quick, they have a great selection of salsas [from mild to really hot]. The tacos are pretty large and cost about $4, you get chips with it to try all the salsas. The beer was $5... a little steep, but I will go back again. Just not to drink a lot of beers.
Great food, great service, and most importantly, clean restrooms! Snapper Jack's is our go to place for a quick pickup to satisfy our Mexican food cravings. To our first generation immigrant to America taste buds, this is good enough. As good as some of the small hole in the wall places we've visited. Portions are nice and did I mention clean restrooms that actually "smells clean"? That's the hallmark of a well managed restaurant.
We eat here at least once a week. We’ve eaten at all their locations, but this one is consistently the best. The steak fajitas burrito is killer.
Love the fish tacos. A real bonus when you get big chunks of fish! We go every Friday after swimming. The salsa bar is fantastic! The melon salsa is amazing. I got the carnitas once. Very dry- stick with the fish!
Awesome tacos! Best salsa bar around. Try the corn on the side it’s soooo good! Clean facility and super friendly staff we eat here 2x a month at least.
They seriously have the best salsas!!! Also great fish tacos
Love the burritos, kind pricey Apparently per my husband who have eaten many burritos places, this place is one of best. They do give you very big portion. My favorite is the Cancun burritos with the crab inside, very flavourful without the fishy smell. My husband like the messy burrito, can't remember what's it called but they'll know what it it when you tell them the messy one 😂.
I really like Snapper Jack's. The food is really good! I've never been disappointed with my orders, and I'm always met with a friendly employee to take my order.
Absolutely love their fish tacos, fish enchiladas, and shrimp tango. The salsa bar is a big win too—especially the homemade sauces. The fish is always incredibly fresh, never fishy, never weird. You can really taste the quality.
Love Snapper Jacks! Great smoked chicken burrito and salsa bar. Employees are always helpful and friendly.
I love this place! When ever I go to this place, I know im doing to be satisfied! The food is always fresh with fresh variety of salsas, condements bar! They have delicious burritos, tacos, and more, made to your liking! I highly recommend this place. I rate it a five stars for flavor and the people serving the food are always nice and helpful with making your order correct.
I was going to Joanne‘s fabric to pick up a few things and I was starving so I decided to stop in “Snapper Jacks “for my first time. I was greeted very quickly by a young gentleman who answered all of my questions, as I had quite a few. I ordered the fried fish taco on a corn tortilla , and a not fried shrimp corn tortilla taco. Im still giving snapper jacks 5 stars because I know I love the fried fish, I simply didn’t like the shrimp one, I took the shrimp out and still ate it because it was so delicious. My dinner was a Lovely experience, it was so delicious I Brought home dinner for My family. The beans that they serve OMG so yummy! I can’t wait to go back, and the dark salsa…. Out of this world epic! I don’t remember the name of it is freaking fantastic!! ADIDASJ ALL DAY I DREAM ABOUT SNAPPER JACKS
Walked in to Snapper Jack's . The food was great, food did not make me feel Bloated. I felt great and it also tast great not to much Seasonings just right. I most let love the chips and beans. I want to thank the all the chefs in the back and also Dustin i for recommending me to get 1 Jack's Fish Taco. The price is on point. Experience was 10/10
Helping a diabetic friend learn how to eat healthy is easy with places like SJTS!! Amazing food, impeccable service, mind blowing variety in the salsa bar. And for you dishes who are also OCD clean germaphobs like ME.... CLEAN! Thanks for lunch guys & dolls 😘 it was excellent. We WILL be back....soon🙏💝 Just fyi- California shrimp plate Potato flautas (for me😁) Grilled fish taco, soft corn shell
Tonight, Snapper's was busy...I realized, they're getting Baja Fresh business cause they're gone. Now, in light of that, Snapper Jack's is so yummy for their tacos and OMG! The healthy quinoa salad....yum! We get their battered fish, crispy tacos tonight...oh, yeah
Very, very delicious carnitas! Highly recommended 🔥 and great customer service

Very, very delicious carnitas! Highly recommended 🔥 and great customer service
This is a fun locally owned taco shop. They are best known for their fish tacos that are delicious. The shrimp tacos were also good. Snapper Jack's also has a nice salsa bar with creamy, traditional, and spicy options. Prices are reasonable.
Our family loves the TO Snapper Jack's!!! The management is fantastic and the chefs are superior!!! Consistency appears to be their creed. 💞💞💞
Oh damn that's some good tacos! I got waaaay too much food for takeout on a business trip. Half order of chips and salsa was enough to feed an army. Pico was fresh, tasty beans and rice generous side of curly fries and the tacos were on point. Grilled fish was my favorite, but the battered fish and steak tacos were also amazing. Much bigger than expected and loaded with toppings. The Shack sauce went really well with the fish and I was surprised at the heat of the habanero salsa, even though I was expecting it. First time in SoCal and I'm glad I tried this on my last night in town. Yeah I over-ordered since the take out I had the other night was skimpy. Combo would have been enough on its own for sure, but the $35 I spent would have probably fed 4. Big fan. So stuffed!

The food is great, especially the tacos. The prices are reasonable and the decor is nice. The outdoor area is decent too. I would recommend this place for a casual lunch.
I love the tacos but I really don't care for the burritos. Which is very unusual for me. Stick to the tacos and the great cinnamon chips. The salsa keeps me coming back.
Excellent food at a reasonable price. It has a good combination of Mexican food and seafood. Great taste, nice people, and outdoor seating.
The grilled shrimp tacos without sauce were great. Don't forget your salsa from the salsa bar. Wish the patio was on the beach... 😄
Good tacos, but the food took quite a while to get and the salsa bar was a little messy. Would definitely come back as the price is good.
First time here, had the taquitos and they were very good. Pleasant staff, clean place, would go back and its cheap.
Do not order the potatoe taco if are looking for the crispy version and not a potatoe salad in a tortilla, all other tacos are delicious.
Love the location and service. They often have interesting specials running & the tuna melt quesadilla is pretty great too.
Friendly staff, good portions and the food was good. If the food was more flavorful I'd bump it up another star.
Love the shrimp tacos. They never disappoint. Great customer service and always clean.
I was hungry and working so saw this place in between my store's I had to work, went in and service was good, practicing great social distancing severed me with gloves. Had fish tacos with rice and beans 😋 was awesome, hot and fresh! Employees were great! Will be back!
Crazy. I work a shoppin' center over & frequent Snapper Jack's on my 30 min break. It's shockin' how the food is beyond edible, yet there is never a crowd, always seatin', never a line to order, nor a wait of any length to receive your food. Love it's available, convenient & reasonably priced.
Love the fast casual Californian Mexican menu. Their battered fish tacos, grilled chicken tacos and Chile Verde burrito are my favorites. They have a nice selection of salsas to choose from.
It is really good food, high-quality. A little expensive for my taste so I don't go that often
Best steak tacos you can get! Decent prices. Very good sauses and salsas. Seating can feel a little limeted but it's a great little taco shack.
I can tell this place is a local favorite. Almost couldn't get a seat for a minute. Friendly staff. The food is good. Fresh. Looks like taco Tuesday would be overwhelming.
This is my to go place for potato tacos, with a crispy shell. They are very good. Their prices are a bit high, though, for what you get compared to other simlar restaurants
The food itself is good. Very good. But as of recently, the portion sizes have been cut while the prices have gone up. The tacos they provide for you are now ~20% smaller, and while they still retain a great flavor they’re also around 20% more expensive. It’s not ideal and very disappointing. Regardless, the atmosphere is cozy and the servers are lovely people. Vibrant and jubilant, just as I’d expect from a place like this.
The salsa bar is fantastic. I've been twice. The first time I got a grilled fish taco. It was excellent! Nice big pieces of tasty fish with a bit too much cheese on fish for me, but good on the chips that come with it. The second time, I got grilled fish again. I was offered the taco crunchy even though I asked for flour tortilla. I wouldn't go with a crunchy flour tortilla again and the fish was all ground up- no chunks at all. Had to go from 5 to 4 stars for the inconsistency. Will try again. Nice outdoor patio.
This was pretty good for fast food. Reminded me of Taco Cabana from TX but for Baja style food. It was terribly greasy though so don't think you'll be having a light lunch if you choose this place. Also the refried beans aren't vegetarian which is technically "right" but come on.
Snapper Jack's is a Baja style Mexican restaurant that caters to coastal style Mexican food that adheres more towards seafood. While this place seems more geared for hot summer days, it still is sufficient to eat whenever your heart desires. Make sure you do have a craving for seafood, though. The chips are freshly made and Crispy. Plus, there is a nice salsa bar that carries a variety of nice sauces to choose from. The Quemada or the Snapper sauce tends to be my personal favorites. Sometimes, the space gets a little silent, so take advantage because once the weather starts to heat up, it gets considerably more congested. It's a suitable treat for all your Baja seafood needs.
Great service from a pleasant and friendly staff. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I found the tacos, the accompanying salsas, and the guacamole a little lacking in the flavor profiles that I personally enjoy.

We went here for a quick late dinner. The food was tasty but nothing special. I think I may try a few more items though- it may be that my dish was not the best. I had a shrimp taco, some of the breaded shrimp had a bit more breading than ideal. The Mexican street corn though was quite tasty and they provided a good amount for the serving.

It's a step above Taco Bell but still just fast food tacos. I had to look hard to find the fish in my fish taco. There's got to be better fish tacos than these.
Food was good however I will NEVER EVER order a fish taco from there again I would rather go to del taco to eat a fish taxo.....There fish was the size of a pinky finger and it was full of lettuce and tasted gross for $4 not worth it.......
Snapper Jacks was one of our favorite places to eat. I describe their food as the best Mexican Fast Food restaurant. There is no table service, you order and pick up yourself. The young people working here are always friendly. The 3 stars I am giving this place is due to the incredibly increasing prices. Also lately, there are many mistakes in what we ordered. For instance ordering steak taquitos and getting chicken. Now when we last went there, two chicken taco salads and one order of taquitos, plus 3 drinks was $46.00 with tax. That is way too expensive for this type of restaurant. There have been 3 price increases in the past 6 months. Also there was a diminished amount of guacamole and the chicken was shredded not chunks on the salad. We can eat at El Torito or Don Cuco for about the same amount of money and it is better food. We loved this place but we are through with it now and won't be back.
Snapper Jack's food is decent - it's not going to blow your mind, but it won't make you mad either. The counter staff is usually very pleasant.
We come here for lunch often and enjoy the food but they need to work on their staff better. We bought cinniamin chips and they had no cinnamon or sugar on them. We asked for some to be put on them and they said they are made in tge morning and have none. They offered no other option to fix it so we through them in tge garbage as the staff watched. We won't be back as customer service to us is everything.
Basic Mexican food. My enchilada plate was supposed to come with guacamole there wasn't any guacamole. The prices are high the same as a Mexican restaurant. But it is a fast food set up.
Not worth the hype. Very mid. But I'm mexican so i judge fish tacos harshly if not done a certain way. Though, the salsa bar was amazing and tasty, i cant say the same for the fish tacos. They were so bland. If it were not for the pile of cheese they put on al single fish taco and thier yummy salsa, it would've been a waste of $. I had to go get fish tacos somewhere else the next day because my craving was not satisfied.
It's fine if you're looking to get full. Generous portions of somewhat overly Americanized baja flavors. Decent salsa selection, but bland proteins and heavy-handed use of cheese. Nice spot to sit and enjoy some chips and salsa in a laid back environment
We came to this location because the one in camarillo is amazing so we knew what we are getting into. But this one is like the lazy other brother version. Food was cold the moment they gave it to us. Cold rice, cold beef, cold tortillas... which a cold corn tortilla is something out of a book of sadness. Got part of the order wrong but they did fix it no problem. We didn't ask them to fix the cold food but they probably would have. Just that extra bit of care to make sure the food is hot goes a long way.
I have been eating here for years. I love it. I ordered tacos to go, and I was disappointed in the crunchy flour tortillas. It was stale and rubbery. Kind of ruined the whole meal. 😑
I used to love this place. I would drive extra far just for the tacos sometimes. I feel like over the years it’s gone downhill and the chicken and tacos are more dry and less flavorful than years ago. They have a salsa bar but before you didn’t need much salsa or sauce. The service is always pretty good here, and the atmosphere is pretty nice. Try the hard shell tacos if you do get tacos they are the best. Also prices have gone up just my taco plate and a drink was $20, kind of crazy for bland food. Hopefully they can change and improve and go back to how they once were.
There fish tacos are ok but 10 years ago they had double the fish and now it's like they put 2 fish sticks at the bottom of the tortilla and fill it with cheese and cabbage. Won't be back. $6 a taco, not good. Too much
Love the food here, but are they rationing the chips now??? Used to be that if you order 2 tacos, they give you a bag of chips. Then it was half a bag. Last two times I've eaten here, they've barely given any chips. What the heck? Again, the food is delicious, but for their prices, they could stand to stop being stingy on the chips.

Ordered a $14 "fish" burrito that was 80% rice. Do not recommend!
Awful service. Multiple trips, and shoddy service, seemingly stemming from store/location policy, each time. Foods decent but I would rather drive further to another location than deal with this location if I had to have it.
Snapper Jack’s offers some tasty food, but it is far too expensive. What you pay for tacos or a burrito is what you could pay at a sit-down restaurant with waiters that actually serve you. Maybe it’s just me, but I believe paying $12 for a quesadilla is way to much. But then again, it’s not authentic Mexican food, so maybe that’s how they justify the prices.
Fish tacos and a quesadilla with a horchata. 32.00. I was shorted the guacamole and sour cream that was suppose to be included with my 13.00 quesadilla 3.25 for a warm horchata. Food was ice cold within 7 minutes.
This WAS my favorite food stop. Every Saturday was the routine (and often another day or two during the week as well) since the day they opened in Thousand Oaks. Used to pick up food for friends coming over to house for Saturday movie night as well as for myself. Not anymore, though! A few months back they started adding so much pepper we couldn't taste the shack sauce flavor (the flavor is why we went there) over it. I have nothing against HOT seasoning (and it wasn't really very hot, just way, way, way too peppery tasting), but I want to be able to taste the other ingredients in the food as well. I complained about the issue and they said they'd look into it. Nothing changed. Even my friends stopped asking me to bring them food anymore--they couldn't taste anything past the peppers either. I emailed them and complained about it to management. They never even contacted me. No replay email. No "Well look into it". Nothing! I gave them another try after a month and a half in case the cook ruining their food had been replaced (I hoped it was a bad cook and not a new recipe from management) and the pepper was gone--but so was all the other flavor. It was so tasteless (and oily too) that both I and my brother couldn't finish it. I am so very saddened that my previously FAVORITE food place is now awful. Please be warned!
You don't really want me to say anything about this place I was at this place the years ago probably about 8 years ago and I went the other day just because I was in the area I ordered taquitos oh my god when I got home it looked like a toothpick there was hardly any meat really chintzy I will never any order any food there again horrible
I Recently went to Snapper Jack’s Taco Shack and it was disgusting. When I first got my food it stunk. I took a bite out of my taco and immediately threw up. When I got home my stomach was turning and immediately threw up once again. I went to my doctor and I found out that I had food poisoning! I definitely recommend DO NOT go to this place.
what lame "Mexican" food.... tastes like it is made for and by white people who hate Mexicans. Zero flavor and some watery "special sauce" the cups of pico de gallo taste like fish... total disaster and a sad waste of food and money. absolutely awful
This Restaurant Shouldn’t Exist It’s So Bad I’m giving this place 2 stars, and that’s only because the food was edible. Everything else was awful. The restaurant is beach-themed, which makes no sense for a Mexican restaurant. The quality/value of the food was terrible for what they charge, and to make it worse, the inside smelled like eggs. Honestly, you’re better off eating anywhere else. Update: not edible
Out of all the places I have enjoyed fish tacos and beer this is hands down th4ys86e worst tacos I have tried to eat, ever. I tried both the crunchy shell and the soft shell. Both were equally horrible. The fish was so overcooked it was either chewy, ( on the crunchy taco) nor super cruchy. Fish should NOT be either chewy nor crunchy. By th way, 15.00 for two tacos and a beer. For that price I expected it to be at least somewhat good. Too bad, I work around the corner and was searching for a place to eat lunches. Oh well, I will keep looking.
Not sure what to think after my first time experience at Snapper Jack's Taco Shack. This place was recommended highly by a former employee and friends and families who frequent this place. Sadly, I don't feel they delivered what I was expecting based on the Glowing Accolades everyone has made me believe. Ordered a Cancun Buritto and a Nachos with Shrimp. With 2 drinks $35 seemed an little steep for 2 entrees and 2 drinks, but whatever. Upon finally calling my number, I was disappointed to see that they actually made me a quesadilla, Not the nachos I had ordered. After another 5-10 minutes, the nachos were delivered to our outdoor table. The shrimp were delicious, however the ranchero sauce, which happened to be the 2nd ingredient listed, was non apparent. If anything 2 whole chips had the sauce on it. Anyway, due to the multiple mistakes that I why I have to give the low score to this restaurant. Will I try them again? Perhaps, but it make take a few months. We'll see.
Poor service. Salsa bar is open to whoever walks in and it is not sanitary and the person at the counter said they will not provide you with salsa they pack in themselves unless you are doordash. This place seems to not be aware that good food handling practices are important and a salsa bar is not good practice especially during covid. They do not respect a customers wishes if they prefer to not utilize the salsa bar and request salsa from behind the counter which they do have. This is a liability on the restaurant should anyone become sick. Beware. The staff seems like they don't want to be bothered. Poor business and poor customer service. I hope the manager sees this and makes positive change. Pic shows salsa in cups by counter Additionally they didnt secure the bags and our order broke through it

Pic shows salsa in cups by counter Additionally they didnt secure the bags and our order broke through it
Ordered a potato taco and they literally served me a taco with potato salad in it. I only ate half becayse it was so bad and got food poisoned from it. Never again. Stay away.
